The atmosphere was lovely. The service, divine. Food, amazing. Clean restrooms.Thank you. I would have given 5 stars but there were times the utensils were not provided. I understand bc it was a large party. This is just an FYI for your next big function. Thank you so much. I will be back.
This place has a nice physical space. The staff is very friendly but the food sucks, e.g. the french fries were heavily oily and soggy, the creamed spinach not edible, Ceasar salad not so great. Summarizing this review, the food is mediocre to say the least. Avoid it.
UPDATED 11/26/21 - So a national chain comes in and wrecks the place. We moved to NYC 21 years ago and have celebrated almost every family occasion and milestone at the original and westside Palms. For over 30 years Ive had uncountable business lunches and dinners at Palms all over the US. But yesterday was probably my last visit. The Thanksgiving dinner that was once a real roasted turkey breast was replaced by a turkey roll - 3 perfectly round slices of lunch meat. The beautiful golden dressing, replaced by a gritty cornbread style. Mashed potatoes and gravy, now mashed sweet potatoes. And not a pumpkin anything for desert. We were handed plain paper menus that had already been worked pretty hard - not special holiday menus, mind you. Just regular menus not even including a Thanksgiving menu. We had to request bread with the salad course. Wifes steak was up to snuff, but now there are 3 filet sizes - minuscule, petit and regular. Donuts. Gone. Green beans with pancetta. Gone. Caesar. Gone. And, Im sorry, the caricatures on the walls? The celebrities and NYC notables are now crowded out by every mope who manages to spend $15k or more frequenting the palm. Who are these people!? And who cares? This was once my favorite restaurant on the planet, now institutionalized and just not worth the premium anymoreUPDATED 5/11/20 - TAKE OUT!? I have to admit I had my doubts. But Mothers Day at The Palm is a tradition. So we ordered our usual - 2 filets, au gratin, green beens, shrimp cocktail, and primavera for our vegetabletarian daughter. It was done and packed right on time. We followed their instructions - popped it all in a pre-heated oven when we got home. Except for the plates, crisp tablecloth, and snappy service, it was just like the real thing. Nice job, folks! From the young lady who took and delivered the order, to the kitchen, et al. Also - love the Palm Market. Ingenious idea.Palm is Palm. Trendier places abound, but why would you? Ive never had anything that wasnt done to perfection. I avoided this location for a long time, in favor of the original Palm. How good could anything be in tourist central midtown? Well . . . the host staff is first-rate and game to accommodate pretty much anything. Service is impeccable. Bar is friendly and has a nice menu. And the steaks/seafood - pure Palm. If I had to pick (and I do) I hate the pictures on the wall vs the original Palm. All it takes to make the walls of fame now is spend $X. Then they put a digital output sticker on the wall. Cheesy and uninteresting to look at vs what used to be only celebs, notables, and characters
If you can read this, turn back. The Bad News is this place isnt good, The Good News is you’re in Manhattan and theres a million other amazing restaurants. Might I recommend the applebees up the street?I thought id be fine to accompany my friend out here despite my shellfish allergy but I was not. I wanted to order the salmon but it has a lobster risotto. I asked if there was anything else I could be given as a starch and was told it was not possible. So my whole dinner was just a cut of (not fresh, tasting heavily of refrigeration) salmon. I was not full but i was fed up with the restaurant and the ominous dead eyed stares of 1000 celebrities. The servers and staff were nice though, its the company and policies of how they run I do not enjoy that breaks the experience.
First work meal out, heck any meal out, post-pandemic, here in New York. Pricey but I was not paying. Enjoyed a variety of traditional Italian starters with colleagues, including calamari fritti but also some other, more eclectic steakhouse sorts of fare, most memorable (and tasty to the extreme but definitely not health food) thick-cut Nueskes Bacon (which is marinated in bourbon maple-glazed, house-made steak sauce). For an entree I had the veal martini (which was shallots, mushrooms, fresh and sun-dried tomatoes, white wine, Florio Dry Marsala wine, and basil). It was delicious. Colleagues had various of the steaks mostly. A very memorable meal and time.
A very nice place with great food. A bit noisy, but we sat along a wall and we could converse. We went as part of my surprise 30th wedding anniversary trip from FL for my wife. It was a suggested partner restaurant on a Broadway shows web site. There seemed to be a lot of birthdays happening there that night -- so, I assume it is a great for special occasions restaurant. The food portions were plentiful, served perfectly warm and we had attentive servers. The food was excellent by any standards. Not a single problem and I would recommend the Palm anytime. Its not a cheap or moderately expensive place, but a high-level place of quality with high cost. About $250 for us both, but we ate very well...even had to doggy-bag some leftovers back to the hotel for breakfast.
I ordered the 9 oz filet, Brussels sprouts, and a salad. The salad was good. I thought the vinaigrette dressing was quite tasty, and it came to my table swiftly. The steak arrived rather late and disappointing. I asked for medium rare...one half of the steak was close while the other half was medium well. I informed my waiter, and they made me another one. The manager also came over to apologize and reassure me my food was being prepared and would be out quickly. It was out much faster, and this one was cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning. The Brussels sprouts were cooked nicely, not over done. The waiter gave me a second order of the Brussels free to make up for the steak mishap. I had ordered bottled water as well. Only once did my waiter pour my water in my glass for me. The remainder of the time, I had to awkwardly pour this huge bottle of water into my glass, spilling it since the booth is a bit snug. For the price and class of this restaurant (over $100 per person), I’d say my experience and the food was mediocre compared to other restaurants at this price point.
I hate to give this place a three star rating but the service pre dinner was terrible. We were a party of 4, with 7pm reservations on Saturday night. We were going to see MMA fights at the garden (not cheap seats). We arrived at the Resturant 45 mins early and asked if we could be seated early if possible. They were let able to seat us early so they ended up seating us 25 mins later than our reservations. We watched as family after family was seated. The hostesses kept saying a few more minutes. Thank goodness our waitress knew what to do, she took our wntire order and had the chef make it happen quick! The food was delicious. We had the 3pund lobster and steak for 3. Also orered cream spinach’s and hash browns. The shrimp cocktail, calimari, and bacon was excellent as well. We also had the wedge salad split between 4. Food and waitress were great. Hostesses sucked.
Fun spot to frequent every once in a while but the steaks are far from the Keens, Charlie Palmer, Bowery Meat level. They are not on par with other chains either like Capital Grille or Ruth’s Chris. If you’re looking for more variety, a different atmosphere and a cocktail- go here.
5 star dinner. We went here for our first year wedding anniversary dinner and it was spectacular. We had the salmon and filet and both were cooked to perfection. The sides were amazing and the salad was enough to feed two people but hands down the best salad I have ever had. We had the wine while there and they didn’t disappoint with that either. They even surprised us with a dessert at the end. We signed up with the Landry membership card and we look forward to eating here again in the future. Holy deliciousness 😋🤤
Someone brought drinks pretty quickly but no waitstaff for dinner @ least 10-15 minutes. We had to flag someone down as we were going to the theater. The person taking our order was very nice but did not know the specials or what he could do for a vegetarian so had to keep going back and forth. After 6pm seating still no main course @ 7:15 so cancelled given having to make a curtain. This is quite surprising giving the prices and that they have been a theater district staple for years. If you really want to go make sure its three hours before your show or when you have time to spare.
The atmosphere is great. The attention from the waiting crew to include the general manager was great. It was our first visit. We were celebrating a birthday. The food was done well, exactly how I oder my NY Strip is how it came out. I told them that I did not want to see anything pink and wanted it very well done and that is exactly how it came out. The less stars is because I reserved our table through American Express Platinum and they knew that we were celebrating a birthday yet we listened to the crew singing happy birthday to another table and I though, well they know, they will come to our table later but they never did. Overall the experience was a good one, we will be visiting again, and next time we are celebrating something I will make sure to asked them to sing without assuming that they will automatically do so.
Have been to several Palm locations, even a member of the old 837 Club. This was first time at Palm West and was disappointed by the inaccurate information regarding Restaurant Week. We had done the research to select a restaurant close to the show we were seeing on Saturday night (fyi The Music Man was great fun) and The Palm West was participating and displayed their menu on the NYCGo.com webpage promoting Restaurant Week. When we spoke to the waiter he informed us that Saturday nights were not part of Restaurant Week. I did not recall seeing that exclusion on the webpage, as a matter of fact there is a listing of each week that the restaurant is participating by date. Anyway, today Monday, even the menu is now disabled from that listing page on NYCGO.com, which means some editing has taken place since we made our reservation last Wednesday. Anyway, the food was of good quality, as it usually is at The Palm, but the restaurant week discussion was awkward, at best.
This restaurant was a joy! Excellent food and great service! Lamb, crab cake and bacon appetizer was delicious. The calorie counts on the dessert menu forced some of us to share the vegan chocolate cake! It was very rich and a delight! The only complaint was that the Chicken Parmigiana was a little too cheesy. Other than that, my family really enjoyed their meals and the experience.
Food was okay, the filet mignon was dry and not very tasty even though it was cooked medium . The mashed potatoes was pretty good. I came for a company dinner and my shared table mates had to ask for refills on tHe wine even though the waiter came by several times, maybe because there was a speaker..Not very sure. The dessert was very good, I had the cheesecake and my tablemates got the chocolate. Very delicious. The appetizer was soup was very good only slightly salty.
A wonderfull expierance, not posh but up scale, you can dress up but again just dress nice, the staff are very good but i would expect a higher level of service, the food was perfect i cant falt it, on the night we were there it was very noisy and we could not here each other across the table so inturn we had to raise our voice, last of all its quite expencive.
If you had never been to The Palm before, then you might be impressed. However, I have been there many times and most recently, I am not impressed. Let us start at the end: The cake portions have diminished significantly in size. The wonderful creme brulee is gone. Now to the mains: My ribeye was overcooked, but not to the point where I wished to send it back. This may to a deficit of expertise in the kitchen. The chicken parm was noticeably smaller than it used to be.To state things succinctly: All of us, in my party, had been to The Palm many times before, and we all agreed that not the same, as it used to be.I will say, however, that the service was excellent.
Overall ambience and service was a five star experience. Meal was average and the associated prices were over inflated based on the quality. Had to return my daughters filet as it was undercooked while mine was cooked perfectly. Would try another steakhouse over this one.
Extremely disappointed in the levelof service and wait time this evening. Celebrating a birthday and waited 2hrs before the entrees for three were served, considering the average time of seating of service is 90 minutes. Expressed concern to management and he only credited the slice of birthday cake suggested. Waited an additional 20 min to request the bill as we were repeatedly ignored, I’m not one to bounce on a bill, but I must say I considered it. A simple apology from management acknowledging the lack of service provided on a special night would have sufficed. Must note the restaurant guests capacity was minimal as well.
I was at the Palm-West Side last night with another couple and when the waiter finally took our order I ordered a porterhouse for two. The waiter asked if we wanted melted butter on the steak and I told him no. After our salads came and went the main course finally came and low & behold there was butter on the porterhouse. A new MANAGER brought out the order and the waiter told him there was to be no butter so he had to have the porterhouse redone. He left the potato chips which we also ordered and I specifically ordered them well done & dry (having the oil drained off by using a paper napkin). Finally after approx. a half hour the porterhouse came out (without butter) but I asked to have the chips redone as they were cold from the beginning and after sending them back several times as they were dripping oil I had to explain to this manager who was new at this location why I wanted them dry, he seemed annoyed with me. After finally getting the side order which was smaller & smaller in quantity we ate our meal but my son & his girlfriend had already finished their meals.I have been a customer at this Palm for many, many years and have never has this situation happen. I know that staffing is difficult, but the place was empty of customers on this Thursday evening. You should have capable personnel managing your restaurant so that you dont lose patrons.Thank you,Michael Altman
I was sat before my party arrived. I waited for 12 minutes and after no one came to the table, I had to flag someone down to ask for water. The server never came to offer a drink or an app to get started. My friends arrived 15 minutes later, and we waited another 15 minutes before the server came to the table for the first time. No one should be seated without getting waited on for 45 minutes.... I expected a restaurant of this caliber would have done a better job.
Both me and my wife have been dining at the Palm one the Palm too so Id say its a good 25 years. The Palm West was very nice but I guess like many things have changed. The crab cakes used to be baked and they were awesome now theyre fried dont care for them at all if I would have known, I would have never have ordered it, or I should have just sent it back . Honestly for us that crab cake was terrible. the waiter never told us that or I wouldnt have ordered it. Honestly I wish Ceaser would have waited on us , the waiter we had was not that attentive to the table maybe he was too busy I dont know it was the little things that matter like he should have told us that the crab cakes changed and that they were fried and not baked, he should have told me the cheesecake has raspberries all over it he just wanted to get on with it you know and move on to the next table Im not used to that. And honestly it cost me $75 to park my car for 2 hours cuz I was coming from Staten Island, I know its been hard ,but thats just price gouging an ridiculous! No validating parking tickets at this location!Look weve been coming to New York City for like 50 years but thats out of control $75 but 2 hours LOL its not even funny its a shame. On the bright side got to see some people that we knew like Caesar waiter Richie the general manager met some new people in the front dee was very nice extremely nice.I guess if I have to give on the whole the food is very good the lamb chops are awesome the steak was great and their expresso machine broke so we had no expresso no cappuccino life happens I guess. As much as we love the Palm I cant see coming from Staten Island between all the tolls and then getting ripped off for $75 for parking I dont think Ill be going midtown again....Another point . I asked the waiter why he didnt decant the wine ? As they always do .He said not expensive enough ! Have to buy a bottle for $150 or more . Thats a joke .Between the Bill the Parking .. that night cost over $500 !! Not not enough to decant ! Maybe tribeca will be more considerate!!
This place is one of the best restaurants in NYC. From the outstanding decor to the outstanding staff members, this steakhouse is truly serving up some of the best dishes in Manhattan. Best lobster bisque I’ve ever had and you can’t go wrong with their imported East Coast oysters. The steak at the palm is off the charts, that’s the only way I can put it. My favorite dish at the palm, however, is their weekly imported Nova Scotia Lobster. These lobsters are flown in from the cold waters of Nova Scotia and The Palm handles it from there. Easily the best lobster I’ve ever had and part of the experience is they know how to cook them. You can order a six pound lobster and it’ll come out tasting like a 1.5 lb lobster. Lastly, the sides at the Palm are incredible. The Palm’s creamed spinach is the best I’ve had and you can’t go ring with mashed potatoes. If you’re in Manhattan and want a great place to eat, go here. I promise you when you walk out your dinner will mark a night you will never forget.
The Palm Restaurant is always a lovely experience, particularly the West Side location. The atmosphere is classy and timeless, while the signature caricatures on the walls are fun to explore. On every visit, the host/hostess offers a warm greeting. The menu is well balanced and offers a wide array of appetizers, salads, soups and generous entrees. The food is always well cooked - the lobster and sea bass are two excellent choices, while you cannot go wrong with one of their tender and flavorful steaks. Sides are yummy and portioned to share. The wine list is extensive and runs the gamut in price - so theres something for everyone. Service is always well paced and the servers are attentive to detail - two of our favorites are Jill and Anna Marie. A great place for business meetings as well as family meals. Weve never had a negative experience here and continue to come back time and time again.
Last nite I visited the Palm for first time in many years. NYC law prohibits plastic straws . How about PAPER. Waiter said “ we do mot have Paper Straws.Second, for a resturant which is a Tourist Trap not to offer FREE BREAD, is a CRIME UNTO IT SELF.I will agree food was great. But give me a Break on Straws & Free BreadMario M GarcicClass A Transportation
What a shame this former 5 star restaurant has taken a turn, only barely earning 3 on this most recent visit. Following a matinee show, a friend & I went for an early dinner and were seated promptly. Water and bread were brought to the table quickly, although at 5:30, the restaurant wasnt packed. Our waitress came quickly, but when we declined cocktails, it was difficult to get her attention. We eventually ordered entrees and sides consisting of mixed wild mushrooms, lamb chops and the veal chop special, which was served on the VERY rare side. When I pointed this out (to someone other than our waitress who was nowhere to be found), the manager came over. While he said and did all the right things, as was pointed out to him in a steakhouse, especially one with the reputation enjoyed by The Palm, serving chops any way but perfectly is a fail. And he agreed. My friend and I ate our dinner separately since mine came out 10-15 minutes after hers. After all of that, the chop was mediocre at best. What a shame. Heard the owners are selling due to family discord, which probably accounts for some of this.
Tonight we celebrated my husband birthday at your restaurant. Tonight was our first experience at your restaurant and it was an amazing one! From the very beginning we were treated so well. Our waiter Alex was absolutely amazing and his attention to detail was noticed and appreciated. Whether it was wiping up our crumbs off a table or never letting our glasses get below a certain point, he was awesome! He made our experience that much more special. The food was amazing. Both our steaks were cooked and seasoned to perfection and melted in our mouths. Alex came over at the end of our dinner with little cannolis the chef had prepared as a special treat for my husbands birthday. They too were amazing! He sang happy birthday all by himself to my husband. It was an unforgettable night thanks to the food, the wonderful service, and attention to detail that Alex provided us. We will be back! Thank you for your time!
First the food was not good. They burned the meat literally. The glass of water stinks. So when the waitress left the check we pay and left... she started running like maybe we didn’t payed guess because we are hispanics. Well we payed... wow. Just lost a loyal customer that just move on front.
We went here for Thanksgiving Dinner, it was delicious!! For the number of people they were serving, I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone in our party loved the food & we all took our leftovers! They were packed as you can imagine; the hosts & servers were nice & our waitress was great!
Came for lunch but immediately realized this was not a true steakhouse when the chicken parm is their “signature dish” on the menu. No bacon on the appetizer menu, no steak sandwich on the lunch menu and the 10oz steak was laced in fat. On the plus side, the ambiance was decent and the service was acceptable. Not a fan.
We were fans of Wolfgang’s for years but became disenchanted with the abrupt wait staff. The Palm on West Street is now our go to steak house. The steak is superior and up until last weekend the service was very good.We invited a couple with us because of our past visits. The entire evening was a disaster and quite embarrassing. The female server was terrible. She made our dining table look like an unpleasant chaotic mess. Drinks were wrong. Questions and requests were unanswered and not delivered. She sent a fellow server over to get one guests order correct. It was straight off the menu and she had no idea what it was. She also decided to lie about menu items that she said were not available instead of really checking with the kitchen, as she said she did.We will return because of the steak ..We will never be served by this person again.Btw, my husband tipped her over 20% even though she did not deserve it. Therefore, I feel this review should be taken seriously because obviously she had no idea!
This place was really good. The bread they bring out before your meal was soft and fresh unlike some places that bring you hard bread. We got the bacon wrapped scallops which were amazing. I ordered Salmon and it was delish. My husband ordered lamb and it was also good. Would go back here.
It was just barely okay, we would not return. We sat in the dining room; the ambiance suits a casual lunch, which this was. My lamb was raw, though when they fixed it, it was decent. My dining partners steak was nothing to write home about.Overall, an okay experience but the staff was not warm or inviting except to the table where it was clear that the diners were well-known individuals, they definitely recieved much better treatment and attention.
I have patronized the Palm1, the Palm2, and now the Palm West as the other 2 have closed. I am happy to say that I have been at the Palm West several times and have found the food to be superb. The manager John, is extremely professional and the service team led by Dee, is exceptional!!! I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.
This is a Classic NYC steakhouse that consistently delivers tradition, amazing food and flawless service. Just be warned--an average dinner with average-price wine for two costs over $250. I call it an expense account resto, but it surely impresses for a special occasion. I took a friend who was visiting NYC for the first time, and she immersed in joy! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Bring your appetite. The steaks were all cooked to the parties liking with nice crust. Sides were great and the whipped potatoes complemented the steaks. Service was spot on and fast even at full house Sat night. Highly suggest making a RES, we used open table and had no issues.
Ive been a fan of the Palm for many years and I have to say their new Palm Market menu is amazing. You can buy their great shrimp, great produce and amazing steaks and cook them yourself. Its not the same as a night out but the steaks are great and an incredibly good deal.
Located between hells kitchen and times square area the Palm offers a great meal before or after Broadway shows. reservations are recommended. We did not but were lucky to get a table in bar area which was in fact not a noisy place typical of bar dining. Our party of four split a large salad and each ordered a hamburger which turned out to be totally awesome and a meal worthy of a king. Fries were just ok but all in all I give it an A Service was quick and very friendly
Fabulous service! Our waiter was top notch. Elegant atmosphere and great food! Highly recommend! Perfect spot for preshow dinner. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and several servers sang for us with a candle in our dessert.. so very kind and thoughtful.. treated like family. We will be back most definitely!
After just opening one day since November 2020 because of the Pandemic the Service was awful, Found a hair in the entree and after complaining to our server Salem his attitude changed totally Negative. We all understand things happen but showing attitude towards customers while just reopening was inappropriate. Will never come back just because of the service not the food. If i can leave a zero star i would most definitely do. Salem never came out when we were ready to pay and so he sent another waiter.
After having a sub-standard experience at The Palm in Orlando, I was hesitant to try another Palm restaurant, but it’s location across from The Gershwin Theater was just too convenient. How glad I am that I gave it a try! The restaurant has a lovely ambience. We sat in a booth, had great service and each of us had the power lunch - salad, followed by twin filet medallions (one of four choices). The salads (a chopped and Caesar) were crisp, cold and delicious. The filets were cooked perfectly. We had the donut holes (in cinnamon sugar with sauces for dipping) which were decadent and delicious.
This is not just a steak house; their Italian dishes rival the best Italian in the city. The serviceis.impeccable, the drinks are great and so are the bartenders. I have been eating here since they.opened this branch on the west side approximately 15 years ago.I eat dinner here at least 4 nights a week. I highly recommend it.
Old NY vibe w/historic photos, low-lit booths, back-in-the-day service. Decent Champagne by glass. Good bread and butter. Iconic Gigi salad is good (though the green onion kind of overwhelms), as is arugula w/ strawberries. Fingerling potatoes good (though they could stand to be more tender/less greasy), decent lobster. A good choice for theater dining, as unfortunately Times Sq is full of average/chain eateries.
Great atmosphere and the staff was super friendly. The history of the caricatures was pretty cool and hopefully my face will be up there. The food was excellent and the location was a key factor(about 100 feet from the doors to wicked). Definitely worth a return trip.
From hole in the wall establishments to Top Chef restaurants in Manhattan, this was one of our least favorite experiences. The food was decent at best, but not great by any means. We ordered calamari to start which was not cooked to the proper texture, then prime steak and Chilean Sea Bass with a side of mashed potatoes. The steak was nothing special, and the sea bass was flavorless. The side of potatoes came out ice cold. We sent them back and the server acted put out. Service was mediocre, food was mediocre, and the ambiance was loud, drunk, business men. Overall, the experience is NOT WORTH THE MONEY!! If you are coming out of the Gershwin looking for an incredible encore to a Broadway hit, do NOT go to The Palm. There are plenty of other options in the city in the same or even lower price range with far superior food and service.
Tomahawk and T-Bone steak for the table were more than enough for 4. Both were a little undercooked for my taste but thats the downside of the group order. We sent a few pieces back to be cooked a little more and as could be expected they came back dry as a bone (still tasty though). The hash browns were good but not on par with the meats. Didnt try anything else because I was stuffed after the steak. Drinks are pricey. Actually everything was pricey so bring your wallet. Service was good by NY standards but I wouldnt call it friendly. Id say its a good call if its convenient (like after a show or something) but I wouldnt make a special trip for it.
My daughter and I had dinner before the Broadway show. We didnt make a reservation and just walked in on our way to the theatre. They waiters were not very nice, almost rude, because we didnt order the most expensive food. We were paying with cash and one of the waiters asked: Do you need change? Of course we left a tip, but who asks those kinds of questions in decent restaurants? We felt very uncomfortable. The food was just OK. I would not recommend this restaurant. Be prepared to be treated according to the amount of money spent.
Great atmosphere and the staff was super friendly. The history of the caricatures was pretty cool and hopefully my face will be up there. The food was excellent and the location was a key factor(about 100 feet from the doors to wicked). Definitely worth a return trip.
Class are the way but yet not pretentious and you’re comfortable as soon as you’re welcomed. 9 of us started at the bar and the beer was cold and glasses were never empty. Meghan our bartender was awesome. Once seated for dinner Alberto our Server took over and the feast began. The seafood platters for appetizers was so fantastic everyone is still talking about it - bacon sea scallops, thick cut bacon (OMG), Calamari, crab, lobster and shrimp (all huge pieces). Their wine selection is perfect and the Prosecco was refreshing. Every single dinner came out at the same time was hot and perfectly cooked as ordered. Most had the 12 oz filet mignon and 14 oz strip steaks. They were all delicious and one of the best steaks in NYC! I had one of the best dishes ever their signature Veal Martini- mouth watering it was truly a culinary delight! I will go back anytime I visit Manhattan. It’s worth it!
Always so reliable. Great service. We often get Jeff as our server, now we ask specifically for him. Hes a total pro. He knows his wines and can handle large tables with ease. The Palm makes an amazing steak, but have many other amazing dishes as well. Its also perfect for dinner before a Broadway show.
Fantastic food, a bit disappointed in the waiter service. Asked for additional bread, never brought. Never came by to see if we needed anything additional. We had to ask another waiter for soda refill and had to flag the busboy for water. We were celebrating my daughters birthday. At the end of our dinner, the wait staff sang happy birthday to her, they add were in tune. But we received our check without asking us if we wanted coffee after dinner.
Well known NY Steak House. Lots of atmosphere and great steaks plus other Meats all cooked to your specific temperature. Known for the sweet 3 to 5 pound lobsters. You must order there great sides and gourmet level starters.Nice bar, wide variety of labels and a live pianist. The service exceeds any expectations.,
The Palm is a classic NYC dining spot including a generous pour from the bar, a fantastic election of by the glass wines, memorable tasting steaks and those great potatoes. Attentive service. I had great oysters too. I went after a Sunday matinee at circle in the square. its across the street! A great pairing.
The reservation for our 30th wedding anniversary dinner in New York went perfectly well...thanks to Open Table. The two hostesses greeted us warmly and we were seated in a great booth with fantastic servers. The food was VERY good with great portions. I can see why they have such a longstanding phenomenal reputation. The Carrot cake topped it all off for me! The best Ive had!!The veal Marsala and rib eye were cooked to perfection and very tender. Exquisite wild mushroom. We even had to take doggie bags home with all the leftover food. We just to eat so many items because they all looked great!!I can safely say it was the FINEST meal we had in Manhattan.
I have been going to The Palm for years, and always enjoyed the lunch specials before the theater. On my April 10th visit, I ordered the lunch special, which went up to $30, which is understandable. However, the special was no longer special. It was a salad, entree and coffee. They removed the dessert and the entrees, I had salmon and others had chicken parm, did not come with any sides, just a small piece of protein on the plate. Now sides are extra, dessert is extra and the price increased. My salmon, and my husbands salmon was raw in the middle. I sent it back and it came back undercooked again. Very disappointing lunch that left us wanting! Will not be back!
A quick bite at the bar before the theatre turned into a series of anecdotes from the bartender who, having been based in the heart of the theater district for thirteen years, knows all. At least he has head uncensored reviews of more plays than anyone has seen. Great snack, perfect drinks, unparalleled conversation
Always a nice meal with the family ♡ but the lobster bisque isnt what it use to be; skip it for a seafood place that offered more than a few lobster crumbles in moderately warm soup. The Gigli Salad is fantastic & big enough to split though (redemtion!) And the steaks are always cooked to perfection.
This was our first visit ever to a Palm. Turns out my last name is the same as one of the two families that own it. Sort of made the staff a bit nervous...but in a really good way.You gotta get the bacon. Just no doubt about it. You will dream about this bacon for weeks after trying it. Pleasantly crispy in places, succulent, redolent in its porky goodness. You will rue the day you decide not to get it, so just get it. And another order. And another. The colossal crabmeat cocktail...it must have come from crabs the size of a truck tire. The meat was large, sweet, tender and worth every blessed bite. (NB: the cocktail sauce on ita own was strangely sweet, but it came with horseradish on the side so taste first before using.)I had the lamb chops. Wow. The mint sauce was not some disgusting nuclear green jelly. It was fresh mint leaves pounded in a mortar with water(?). It was amazingly fragrant yet delicate enough not to mask the gaminess of the lamb, but to enhance it to the point I now crave this dish beyond what is reasonable. We barely had room for dessert, but eat it we did. Most of them at least. The key lime pie has a serious pucker factor to it; the creme brulee had a pleasant vanilla with a slight trace of lemon in it.Staff was amazing. The manager on duty came by twice to see how we were doing. The server Jeff might be our new favorite waiter in NYC.
Classic service delivers exactly what youd expect at another outpost of the famed steakhouse - great steak and suits abound. The quality of your company is key to enjoying this historic environment - the food is good, but its up to you and your gang for a great time. Not recommended for a date...
Dont go there if your time is valuable!Had a reservation at 8pm, were told to go to the bar for one drink, left the location at 9pm after asking several times what has happened with our table and were always told „it will take only 10 minutes more“.The worst thing is that the blonde waitress at the reception desk was very rude and even yelling at me and other guests that were waiting. There are so many good steak houses in nyc and this is by far the worst
I was so excited to try a nice Steak Restaurant from New York. I ordered the Filet, Med Well, It was burnt on outside blood Red on inside, the potatoes and bread were good. I was disappointed with Waiter, he never came back and checked on us after food was delivered. I ate my entire meal with no Tea. When he was about to bring check, I said NO I wasnt happy, they did take steak off of the bill. Our bill was still over 100. Highly disappointing being last night in New York and it is sad when my dads filet kicks the butt of a 91 year old Restaurant.
Disappointing. I had just eaten in The Palm in Orlando last month and had a great meal. The prices in the NYC location were much higher and the quality of the food not nearly as good. My filet was fatty and underdone in places while being over cooked in others. When I was served the wrong side, my original hash brown potatoes came luke warm. They appeared to be reheated and not fresh. They were more like fired mashed potatoes then a true steak house hash brown. I expected much more considering what we paid and my previous great experience at the Orlando location.
I love this place! I first learned of this place about 20 years ago on a talk show Bill Boggs table and he went and met Brian Dennehy the actor and Brian recommended the strip steak and shrimp Bruno. I went and tried it and loved it and went on to have many steaks and lobster. Ive entertained my clients here and it was always a hit. Everything is great!
Not what it used to be. Feels like an upgraded Outback. Very expensive didnt warrant the price. The Filet was average good steak but not worth the cost. The side were very good. Had the spinach and half and half. Onion rings and fries. They were good.It is convenient to theater district which is why we ate here. Dont think I will be going back
“Great food and atmosphere”I was taken here (at my request) by a supplier during a trip to New York after an excellent dinner at the Florida restaurant last year on holiday. Overall this branch didnt disappoint and we had a great night. It was good fun spotting the faces we knew on the walls too.I had the lobster bisque to start which was creamy and tasty with a fair amount of lobster pieces and excellent value for $11. Others had the bacon wrapped scallops where the bacon flavour somewhat overpowered the scallop, the lettuce wedge which was huge and the seared tuna which was very tasty and also a huge portion - more like a main! Cant complain though, at least everyone else got to try a good sized bit.For main I had fillet steak oscar style which is with asparagus, crab and hollandaise sauce and was very tasty. When ordering we ran through the descriptions of the different levels of cooking but despite this a few of us got ours cooked a little more than we would have liked and not as per the description, but otherwise the food was very good. The chips in particular were excellent as was the cheesy potato. Definately more cream in the creamed spinach than spinach though - not quite the veg we envisaged! The lobsters were impressive too.Despite the fact most of us were stuffed, a few still fancied desert so we ordered the cheesecake. We got huge portions and it was very good, they brought spoons for everyone too so we all got a taste.Wine mark-up seemed a little high and the selection wasnt as good as some restaurants, but not too bad.
Dont get me wrong. The service was good, but the food was just ok. My rub eye steak was ok but my friend lamb chop was bad. What really made me mad was, they told us Friday and Saturday they serve prime rib. Guess what they do not have any that night. My birthday night out with my friends.
If you have not been to The Palm West Side your life is not complete. You will walk in and be greeted by Erin Behrmann with a smile. Then you will be seated and treated like you are royalty. The night will not be complete until the GM Craig Levy stops by your table to see how your dinner is and yes he will stop by. Now that you know that The Palm West Side has the most amazing staff lets talk food. The food is so good on your way out youll make another reservation!!!
The gentleman taking care of us was a champion. I think his name was Barry.. He was from Philly. I drank a lot later that night but one thing I remember was this guy! Took care of me and my buddy. His manager Luigi was solid as well. Vegas was awesome and this meal was a highlight. Thanks
This is actually a really nice restaurant very friendly staff. I ordered a bloody mary for some odd reason it really wasnt that great the brussel sprouts were undercooked and hard my veal chop tasted very good and had great flavor however there was more cartilage than I would have liked to deal with hence the reason for the four stars
We had considered going to Peter Lugers, but when we realized how close the Palm was to our hotel, we were sold.Service was a little slow and the place was packed (we discovered later we hadcome at the height of the pre-theater evening rush), but our patience paid off. We each ordered our preferred entree (I had the 18-ounce NY Strip, rare) and then we chose two potatoes and two vegetables to share at the table. We chose potatoes au gratin (these were outstanding) and whipped potatoes with garlic, as well as grilled asparagus and steamed spinach. Despite the heavy traffic, our steaks were properly done to order and we agreed that the kitchen and service staff clearly had their act together. Not one of us had space for dessert (and I was glad I hadnt ordered an appetizer or a salad), but the post-meal coffee was exceptional. When I return to any Palm location, Im interested in the veal chop that appears in their Italian Specialties section. This is definitely an upscale establishment with prices to match, but I think we were all in agreement that the quality and service justified the price. Definitely worth a visit if youre ever in a city with one or more Palms to its credit.
Perfect after theater if youre only a few blocks away. Dale and I share a steak, creamed spinach and the half & half (fried onions & potatoes)........kind of a 60s sort of thing to do.........especially at 10 or 11pm. Were there two nights ago and substituted potato skins which are not on the menu but they made for us.
This place is a classic. The walls are covered in caricatures of movie & tv stars and local sports heroes or politicians that have frequented the place (attend enough times and you can be featured on the walls as well). They do steak pretty well though maybe a bit overpriced because of the history. They over several quality private rooms for rent and the waiters that attend your table in white jackets make you feel like youre in old school New York.
Great friendly service, solid food (had the burger and calamari) and enjoyable ambience near Times Square and steps from our hotel. Yes, location worked well for me but if you are anywhere near Times Square then do yourself a favour and put Palm West Side at the top of your restaurant list and go from there.
Classic steak and lobster house in Theatre District, part of a chain that originated on 2nd Ave. & 45th St. Walls are covered with celebrity caricatures. Food is good, though not exceptional. Service is solicitous. Prices are high, but the summer lobster dinner for 2 is a good deal.
Pre Theater dinner for two was absolutely superb, the prime double cut New York strip was cooked to perfection accompanied by a mushroom medley and velvety mashed potatoes with several fabulous glasses of wine , kudos to our server who was professional yet absolutely charming , I’m looking forward to dining there again in the near future
The service was not only impeccable but the food several times I have had was beyond good this one particular time Im doing a cigar review for a magazine and I walked in and asked for the lobster this Lobster was succulent juicy and well prepared I am definitely going back

2022-02-22As a repeat customer our dining experience was a bit of a letdown. Disclaimer (review based on high end steak house expectations). Would definitely recommend the thick cut bacon as an appetizer. New York strip was perfectly cooked and large just lacking flavor so get some of the available add on garnishes. The salmon was great and perfectly cooked as well. Au gratin potatoes were pretty goo but not special. Server was polite and attentive just difficult to understand with language barrier, and masks didn’t help the matter.

2022-01-12Very very good. Classy steakhouse. Great staff. Amazing caricatures on the walls everywhere. Est in 1926. They have a lot of history. It was across the street from the Gershwin theater. Great meal ticket with Wicked. The bar was packed. Steak was perfect. Salmon was perfect. Cheesecake was wonderful. I recommend!

2022-01-20I was very impressed with dinner last night. We had a private room for 12 people and exceptional service. Dinner was compromised of all the NYC Steak house classics. Location is perfect for a trip into the city via Train.

2022-01-07Started off bad. Restaurant was empty, but was seated at a small booth with a seat that was duct taped back together. Then we noticed our water glasses had black stains on bottom and near rim and had to swap them out. Nice variety of breads. The food was good, but too salty overall. We came around a shift change which did not help with the service. No one came around to clear the table and we constantly needed to wait awhile for the next course and had to stop the bus person to get takeout container and the check.

2021-12-02Had dinner here one night before moulin rouge the musical. The table setting and dining room was elegant. Truly a great place to catch a meal just before a show.

2022-06-27Went to The Palm before a Broadway Show. Food is always consistent. Always enjoy dining at The Palm whether for the lunch special or dinner. Our waiter Jeffrey was fantastic, on top of everything! The Palm is great for a fine dining night out, but Jeffrey knew we had to make the show and had us in and out quickly and was very attentive.

2021-11-181st time in New York. Spending a double 60 birthday and decided to come into the City from Massachusetts to see a show and have dinner in a great resturant. Our server, Mayson, came to table as soon as we were seated. Offered beverages and suggested entrées and Ceasar salads. Salads were amazing. Plates were cleared without a wait.. Entrées of Sea Bass and Centet Cut Filet arrived immediately after and were cooked perfect. Ordered desserts and our server brought 1 with a candle, as he heard us mention the birthday. Amazing detail! Would definitely recommend and am looking forward to returning!
