My mother Helen recently passed away at The Pines after living there for several years. The staff always took great care of her. They always treated her with respect and love, and she loved them back! The Staunches family is very grateful to The Pines staff!

Looks clean and neat. We were not happy about Ordering from the menu. An item was on the menu, but could not be ordered. The personal staff was very kind and helpful. Pam and Linc, and OT and PT were great!Thank you!

DONT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!Do not bring your family here….. this place is a joke/insane. Your family members will obtain bedsores, fall, & these people will do everything to cover it up and more, upper management is a bunch of slobs who do nothing but gossip about residents family members and staff. If your family members can’t speak u better not leave them at this place. It would be the absolute worst thing u could do to them…..SERIOUSLY

First things first the pines at glens falls puts on a huge show for everyone ! Yes the residents are taken care of pretty well but upper management is a joke . These people make there staff work in the worst conditions ever. Over working the best people I’ve personally ever met . They run the floors with barely any aids and then when the state walks through the door because of MANY complaints they magically make staff by pulling people from different departments WITHOUT LICENSES to run nursing carts , and to take care of the residents . The staffing coordinator and the DON sit behind closed doors and gossip about staff and threaten peoples jobs over staff not being able to stay 16 hours in a day . You are made to feel like you have no choice other wise you will not have a job. Some of these CNAs and LPNs are basically directed to work an obscene amount of hours . I would recommend people to out there family there because they are taken care of good , but I DO NOT recommend ANYONE to work at this facility unless you’re basically willing to sign your life away .

I am in gratitude for the loving staff from the front desk to the care takers, nurses, cleaners...the kindness. Why isnt the rest of the world this way? It is a solace for me to know my mother is being cared for in this way.

I have some experience with this type of facility, and this is one of the better ones Ive been to, especially in that area. Everyone has been terrific working with my grandfather, from administration through to the aides. That isnt easy because he has some special requirements. I was so surprised that every day when I left, random members of the staff have said good night, have a good day, take care, etc. None of them were the ones working directly with my family. It was (sadly) shocking to experience such hospitality. I know he is comfortable with the people taking care of him, the PT hes receiving and the accommodations. He even really likes the food 😂

The staff has individualized the rehabilitation not only in the physical therapy section but the medical and nursing departments.Mom felt inspired to take advantage of the time there for rehabilitation, rest and recovery. Mom was treated like family and felt encouraged to do better every day.Im the closest and live an hour away. It was a comfort to all of us that Mom was cared for so well during this stressful time when we couldnt be with her.

Not a good place if you are not of sound mind or you dont have someone who can advocate for you.I was recently a patient at The Pines for rehab after an emergency hip replacement. For the most part, many of the nurses and aides seemed to be happy in their positions, and tried hard to help the patients and work with them to get better. But, there are many deficiencies in this facility. One blaring example...when a patient uses their call button and is left waiting for someone/anyone to respond for anywhere from 20 minutes to a half hour is simply inexcusable! Thats what happened numerous times to my roommate. One thing I was especially concerned about, tho, was the way in which medications were given. I, myself, have been on certain meds for many years that need to be taken on a regular schedule so they maintain a consistent level in my system for my RA. When different medications were brought in for me to take at various hours, I always questioned what exactly they were and why I was being given them. It was when I questioned the nurses that I learned that they could give any medication up to an hour BEFORE or as late as an hour AFTER from when they were actually scheduled to be given. In essence, when it was convenient for the nurse, not the patient. I do understand that nurses are busy or may be shorthanded at times, but supposedly this was not the case on this ward, per the nurses.I was also flat out denied one of my medications that I have been taking for over 15 years for reasoning that made no sense whatsoever! I was also given blood thinners, which is normal after a surgery, but in my case, is also something I have been taking for over two years and will be on for the rest of my life. The problem being, the amounts they were giving me! They said it was to bring my levels up yet they consistently recorded the wrong numbers or didnt bother to write them down at all! There was a point toward the end of my stay where I refused to take the amount they were giving me.Last but not least, the food. There has to be so much waste in that kitchen that its not funny, but actually scary. Day after day, certain food items were not only put on my tray but my roommates as well. And each and every day we tried to tell them not to give them to us because they werent needed and would not be eaten. The items then had to be thrown out! Yes, in a kitchen of this size there has to be some sort of organization to deal with the many patients needs, but there are also menus for each patient that seemed to be completely ignored. Hence, the waste. My intent for this review is to bring attention to the utter lack of oversight in this facility. Their record keeping is atrocious and there is no communication between the staff themselves, much less between shifts or departments. Case in point, a physical therapist would order something for a specific patient and the request was still not filled after a weeks time, with no reason given for the delay. Meanwhile, the patient went without. This might seem like a simple thing, but put all together the many patients these things are happening to on a daily basis shows a definite lack of oversight in care.I was a previous patient at this facility 10 years ago when it was called Eden Park. The difference in the care between then and now is appalling. You would think things would have advanced during this time and patients would be much better off in their current surroundings in this day and age. Seems like The Pines backtracked...
