Online order pick up is a little hectic. I once left with someone elses food because their was two orders for a Robert. Lucky they caught the issue quickly because I live 45 mins away. Also stop only filling your side sauce containers of yummy yummy and spicey mayo sauce 1/4 full and then charging for it. I dont mind paying but fill the containers.
My daughter and I came for the first time today. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, our server (Jimmy) was awesome!. We will definitely be back!
The food is good but when I went to pick up my meal the girl who I spoke to was extremely rude. I asked her for an extra bag and she just stood there rubbing her eye before she actually responded. Kind of unsanitary and rude.
Haven’t been here in over a year because of seeing a mouse literally crawling through a booth. Told the waiter and they didn’t do anything about it, laughed it off and made reference to the Ratatouille movie. I really loved this place before and it’s very unfortunate but if you have mice you have to do something about it.
Fantastic service, Hibachi chefs are very interactive and make it a great experience. Sushi is very good with a wide variety of options.
I ordered a takeout meal with my friends that was supposed to come with a side of soup, rice, and salad. I never received any salad or rice. When we called to tell them about our missing items, they were extremely unhelpful. They said they would not deliver the missing items and that they cannot help us. Will not be ordering from here again.

If I could give it no stars I would! Went there last night with family and while waiting for our food a roach was running back and forth on the table, we then told a worker and all they said was oh sorry! Absolutely disgusting didn’t even wait for our food we just got up and left
I have been here before but first time have hibachi dinner which was excellent. I ended up even tasting my friends meal too. Service was speedy and food was so great. Price was pretty good too. The amount of food... omgd!!!! Great flavors and amount of food served.
Waited over an hour to get 5 sushi rolls and then when we did finally get them they werent all what we ordered. Waiter didnt come back to the table for 30 minutes...then they wouldnt give us any money off for the wait and wrong food. We were given two bottles of kids soda...we wont be going back!!
Always very good and sit on the dining table side. You get to bypass flying pieces of shrimp and sake squirted at you from 10 away 🤣😉.
Recommend the hibachi experience and the food is great. Large portions, youll probably have leftovers.

This is a favorite for myself and my family. Any time Im in the area we make it a point to get sushi from Red Samurai. They always have unique and flavorful special rolls and their hand rolls are also really good. They have great lunch specials for sushi as well. Again, a family favorite!

Needed a place to get lamb chops since kitchen 216 was closed. Their lamb chops dont even come close to the flavor kitchen 216 provides. I feel like I betrayed them trying to done chops somewhere else while they were closed.
Got the full Hibachi experience. Just fantastic. Great staff, very welcoming. Prices are up there, but you really get what you pay for. Food is delicious and you get to watch the chef make it right in front of you (part of the Hibachi experience)If youve not heard of Hibachi before, you should go, its not like anything youve been to before.They also have a selection of beer, wine and saki to pare with your food if you want alcoholic beverages. And if you dont drink, they have more than just soda and juice on the beverage menu.

We always enjoy our experience here. Food is great, no matter if you do hibachi or dining. The sushi is very good and there are many choices. Can get busy on the weekends and you can make reservations.
My son and I went here for dinner tonight and it was the hibachi meal I have had in a long time! A lot of Japanese steakhouses in our area use a cheap cut of beef for their steak but Red Samurai has the most tender and delicious steak. The waiter we had was great, thanks for the nice meal and awesome service!
Party of two. Early dinner (4 p.m.). Hostess was friendly and seated us promptly. Waiter arrived approximately 5 mins later (possibly less). He was great. Took our drink and appetizer order. Drinks arrived promptly. Sushi roll (split between us) arrived a few minutes later, along with our soups and salads (we ordered hibachi dinners). First negative marks for size and quality of sushi roll. It was $14 and MAY have worked as an appetizer for one person only. Have been to New Hartford’s alternative hibachi grill (Sumo) many times and clearly became accustomed to a roll being far more generously portioned. This one was TINY. Flavor was OK…nothing offensive, but not particularly fresh either. Condiments were thinner and less flavorful than expected.Hibachi entrees were awful. One order was steak and chicken, the other was steak and salmon. Each plate was the meats selected plus fried rice and sautéed vegetables. The cook must have been nursing a serious saki hangover because BOTH plates (meat, rice, vegetables…everything) were SOAKED in a watery teriyaki sauce. Meats were WET. Rice was WET. It took all of our table’s napkins just to soak up all the liquid our meals were floating in.Brought it to the attention of our waiter who was apologetic but ultimately useless. He told us he relayed the message to the cook (that our meals were saturated with a gross amount of fluids) and that the cook said he was sorry we disliked the food. That’s it. That’s all. No offer to remake one or both meals. No offer to drop either from the tab (we barely ate). Nothing. And away we went.Terrible dining experience. Avoid it..
Its always a solid pick. Sushi is very good, Hibachi and the rest of the food is very good. If were going out for cuisine of this nature.......this is my top pick. Never disappoints. Try the spicy Kani salad.
We usually love this place but it has really gone down hill. Had a 6:30 reservation, didn’t seat until 7. Got apps quickly, half our table who ordered sushi got their food and ate. 30 minutes later 1/3 hibachi was brought out & 25 more minutes later, the other two. The service was not that great either. Then the manager (possibly owner?) argued with us for 10 minutes about why all of that was ok. Will not go back and will not be recommending.
We had such a blast eating here. It was a fantastic experience, and you could tell the waiters and chefs knew exactly how to make it the most for your party. We were seated next to another party of four, and we have never had more fun going out to eat. We laughed and drank well past closing time, and the staff had no problem bringing a round of sake bombs to close the night. Here is to my new habachi family! 🍻

Ordered online. Went to pick up my food and the hostess could not find the order. Then I was told that it would be 1 hour and 30 min for them to make the order. Not sure why they couldn’t make my order on the spot. And wasn’t offered a discount or any type of consolation for the inconvenience. This isn’t the first time. So one hour after I ordered I had to order for somewhere else. Worst service ever. And to top it off I have to call the online ordering service to get my refund. We have been loyal customers for years and will not be going back. EVER. Ruined my birthday dinner and Valentine’s Day.
I been here couple times and I absolutely love it. I went here on my birthday with the family and I got to admit I was so surprise and honestly it made my day how thoughtful the waitress and employees was it ment so much to me honestly was trying not to cry because I just felt so happy and I didn’t expect that. Honestly the food is amazing good price and drinks are beyond good place clean and beautiful and the employees are so sweet and kind I would always recommend this place. And the chiefs they do amazing job there food is on point I mean they had my daughter eat all her food and she picky eater and she even ate all her food and had seconds . But this place honestly just made my day and honestly that day I was feeling a little down and that one act of kindness from them turn my day around and honestly made me feel so good inside and happy and it ment so much to me and I wish there way they could see how much that ment to me.

Bad customer service. i had to wait forever to order a roll. then they gave me the wrong one. asked if i wanted to order another one. i said yes. had to wait another 20 min and they still didn’t come to get my new order. very disappointed. very upsetting.
The restaurant was clean and looked nice, but the floor was really sticky. My mom and I had the hibachi grill it was really good. The show was ok. The rolls are a good size but a little bland, but the hand roll chefs special were really good and large portions. All in all it was a really nice experience. I have eaten at the other 2 local hibachi restaurants in the area and it is right up there with them. I would definitely go back.
Went here last night, we had a reservation for 6:15, we didn’t get seated until 6:45ish, but i’m assuming that’s because of covid and they’re understaffed. Anyway, the food was great, except I woke up the following morning feeling sick to my stomach and having diarrhea (sorry for the details), i’m assuming it’s from the sushi I had. The staff were super nice but I think the food is not up to par sadly.

Atmosphere was wonderful as always, clean, nice, volume of music playing was pleasant. Hospitality was great. Ken was our server, he was a very sweet guy. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Sushi was excellent and ken made sure to let us know about the weekly specials. Especially 50% off Mondays.
First time visitors to the restaurant and it was for a rehearsal dinner . The party was large over 45 people. We had drinks at the bar before we were seated and they were great at getting us into the room as soon as all the people arrived. The Host was fantastic, he didnt stop entertain us for a single moment. The wait staff was extremely efficient in taking the drink order and then bringing in the salad and soup, both of which were delicious. My husband who never eat things like this even liked the soup. Because we were there for a planned dinner party and the menu was preset we didnt have prices but I will tell you that the food was unbelievable good. It was the most delicious meal and best entertainment package ever. CHEF JOE was awesome . The bathroom was clean and the restaurant staff was most friendly.

I am not usually one to complain on social media regarding an experience I have had but today is a day I’d like to forget forever. I spent over 120 dollars, Just to wait in a line in the cold for well over an hour and a half and when we finally got to the front of the line they told us that our order has been cancelled and we had to wait another 47 minutes yes I did keep track. The food tasted weird and we didn’t even get a sorry. I understand If a company can get overwhelmed with a long days work we’ve all been there but today was something else. I can understand that they have just reopened for business but they should’ve been properly prepared. After today I will not be eating here again and I will do not recommend.
The food is fine - but this place is the bottom of the line for a venue where Im willing to eat raw fish. The service is mediocre at best. All the surfaces are obviously cleaned on a regular basis, but lack a regular schedule of deep cleaning, so you can see where theres a build up of grime, carpet that sticks to your feet a little bit as you walk in some places, etc.
Came for hibachi on a Saturday night while in the area. Got seated right away which was nice. The waitress took our drink order right away and the chef who prepared the meals was personable and entertaining. Food was prepared perfectly and not overly sauced/seasoned. I would definitely recommend and return.
This was by far the most wonderful dining experience I have ever had. The gentleman cooking and the waiter both provided exceptional service. I used the Groupon so for two hibachi dinners was reasonably priced. The level of service was an added bonus. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great meal and out of this world guest service!!! Keep up the great work!! 👍🏼
I came here for by birthday. It blew me away! The sushi was so good (We did not do hibachi). The sauces on the sushi platters were so good. One of the names of the sushi was really interesting. The staff was very nice! I accidentally dropped a drink, and the janitor was not upset. He had a smile. Other places, they give us dirty looks when we spill a drink. He moved us to a different table. Would come again!

First time at red samurai have to say it was amazing.The food was great top quality. The staff are absolutely brilliant and very welcoming. I would like to say Isaac who served us made our experience amazing very kind, helpful and so much fun. So if you dine here make sure Isaac is there serving you. It will be a good time. The food was absolutely fantastic! However I was sat with a different family, they were horribly picky about everything. The one child wouldnt eat actual hibachi so she had chicken nuggets and fries instead, the mother was a vegetarian so she complained about meat touching her vegetables in any shape or form. They should find these things out before seating people together, they were obnoxious people.

Booked it for my sons wedding rehearsal dinner and it was the MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Isaak is THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The chefs are SO GREAT and the food is absolutely delicious. Anna was absolutely fantastic in working with me to plan the perfect night. It ended up being better than I had ever dreamed. Thank you Red Samurai for a night of endless laughs, insanely delicious food, and priceless memories. I cant say enough...really. I would recommend The Red Samurai to anyone for any occasion. They really go above and beyond.
Not as good anymore. I do not understand food managers feel they can be rude to people and assume they will continue to have business. I asked if the sushi is fresh because that is a valid question. I would have had hibachi which I love. I order the new Hartford roll and it was fishy. I know fish is going to be fishy but when it’s fresh it is less noticeable but this was over powering the taste. The roll was disgusting.
This place is awesome. You get to choose if you want a kitchen style dinner or hibachi. One employee struck us the most during our first visit. His name is Isaac. Hes really jolly and fun to be with. Hes really entertaining and thats the type of service that you would want to experience. This place is highly recommended if you are in Utica, NY!
Weve been to Red Samurai twice now, once in the restaurant and last night for hibachi dinner for my daughters birthday. The food is excellent and the staff, friendly and fun. Eating at a hibachi was a new experience for some of us and we had such a great time. The only disappointing parts were they were out of scallops, and out of mochi ice cream. That did not deter us though, we all chose different items and my son tried tiramisu instead. We will definitely be going back.

Love the sushi.. Recently though, I did find a hair in my roll and they insisted it was ginger root.. just own up to the mistake and remake the roll and it would have been fine.
Very good. Just stopped in quick for the 50% off sushi roll deal on Mondays and it was quick and tasty! Great variety for 50% off and since I am gluten free they took extra great care of me.
Based on last experience. Its been great other times. It was Jan 28th Sat at 7pm. Place was packed. They were understaffed, took a while to get anything at all. We didnt get discouraged. If anything we felt bad for our server. He was running around frantically. Food finally came out it was good. However the server added in the gratuity for his check stating their was 6 of us counting my 2 year old daughter as an adult. Techinically only 5 of us my daughter shared my food..That irritated me because I planned on tipping him out very generously, but I felt like he was taking that away from me because he thought he was going to get stiffed. Did I mention our food came out one person at a time. I like to watch others eat while I wait in anticipation. Honestly the food was great. Service, not so much.

I like that they give you both soup and salad on the sushi dinners. Wish they let you choose say a 2 or 3 roll sushi dinner and you pick what you want. Had the sweet potato roll as an addition to my veggie sushi dinner because thats what I REALLY wanted. It was very good.
Joe and Anna are the friendliest restaurant owners Ive ever met! They will make sure that you are 100% satisfied. Food is always amazing and they even named a sushi roll after me!!! Ask them for the special Ruben roll if you something delicious thats not on the menu. We ate here so much, the owners treat us like family.
Awesome! My class went there for a field trip in the hibachi area. The food was great and the waiter was even better! We went live on Facebook in the room and sprayed the class with lemonade. Great service any other time. Highly recommend you stop bye
I go here on Monday nights with my friends. The special right now is 50% off up to 3 sushi rolls per person. That is awesome but even at their regular prices they are a good price. I had the tuna narota roll this last time, no rice and its wrapped in cucumber with a special sauce. Yummy. And the tuna tataki is always a favorite too! They have a busboy (man really) that is funny, engaging and just a pleasure. He always makes me laugh. The wait staff is fantastic too. We had a party of ten and we were well taken care of!
If you are celebrating a birthday, this is the place. to. be. Isaac? The best. Literally will give you an experience like no other. Bring your sister, your mister, your grandma, your great uncle whos half deaf- theyll all have the time of their lives. Highly recommend.

This place is great. I go here almost weekly. The wait staff are amazing and the food is even better. I only stick to hibachi, but friends Ive been with who have ordered sushi have never been disappointed.
I visited this restaurant while attending a wedding. Our server Isaac was hilarious, inviting, and made the whole room fun (while even making sure to attend to our youngest attendee when he accidentally spilled a dish). The serving staff was knowledgeable and amazing, just the mere mention of gluten-free was not the sometimes worrying experience it can be. The server Colin immediately knew what to look for, provided gluten free soup, soy sauce, and dressings, and made sure our chef was informed with no hesitation. Our chef Joe was similarly well informed and even made sure to ask about the severity of my allergy so he could make arrangements for completely quarantined cooking if necessary. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and well decorated. I have been to probably a dozen hibachi restaurants, and this was hands-down the best. Literally the only thing I could ask is for them to open a location in Cincinnati (far fetched though it may be).
Fast and friendly service! Steak was cooked perfect,the veggies were excellent and the drinks were great. The only downside was thw salad-it was super wet and then drenched with dressing..besides that,everything was great!

The service was horrible! Seated 40min after our reservation, had one person running entire front of restaurant incl the bar--cant be done by the way. Had to wait 20-25min to get one drink while we waited. Had to watch 10 college kids make drunken idiots of themselves while we were ignored for an 1hr...literally seated at habachi grill for an hour watching the other side eat, drink and be merry while my family my children and a US Marine on our side went hungry....it was not until I confronted our drink waitress that the chef showed up. The food once presented was good. Was there 3hours total did not eat for 1st 2hours....avoid this place like the plague.
I love sushi and hibachi here. Monday night is a perfect night to eat sushi rolls. Everybody can get 3 rolls for half price. It’s packed on Monday night, but it worth the wait.

The soup is salty. The salad is soaked with sauces. The calamari was really bad. Stir fry vegetables was served cold. Only the price is reasonable.
Takoyaki here is the best in the area! Got my order to go via an online order and it was ready when I got there and the food was delicious and fresh. Would definitely get takeout again!

Used my Groupon the other day and I was very happy with my experience! This was my first time there (ended up going again the next day with someone else) and I loved everything! The staff is very polite and doesnt pester you during you meal, unlike other places, they check-in once or twice. Between both visits we ordered: Salmon lunch bento box, Shrimp tempura lunch bento box, Chicken Katsu lunch bento box, Tonkatsu lunch bento box, Shumai hot appetizer, Yakitori hot appetizer, Beef and the Negimaki hot appetizer. Every Bento box comes with rice, 2 Shumai, 3 California Rolls, wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce for the rolls, Salad, and Miso soup (to die for honestly)...All lunch bento boxes (as of September, 2018) are $6.95-$8.95, such an amazing value for the amount and quality you get! Everything tasted fresh and even made for good leftovers for the next day! Very please with both visits (one was in the restaurant and the other was to go ordering) and I cant wait to come back!

The quality and service at this restaurant is better than anywhere else in the Utica Rome area. Their lunch menu is one of the greatest values around. They have the best sushi and sashimi in the area. The calamari and rock shrimp appetizers are amazing. Very under appreciated restaurant in this area.
The food was not great as far as sushi and sashimi are concerned. Mediocre at best. The house salad had lots of water in the bowl. There are definitely better Japanese restaurants in New Hartford for the same price. Sumos has much better quality and atmosphere, and their food is reliable time after time.
Ordered tonight on a whim because Mitsuba was not accepting online orders and I gotta say I don’t think I’ll ever go anywhere else the food was absolutely amazing great job chefs!

First time here and absolutely loved it! Great food, great service. We ordered the Hibachi chicken and California roll dinners both were excellent.
Food is always delicious and perfect!! Between the hibachi and many many nights of ordering take out sushi, its 100% every single time. Always the best service as well.

Worst meal we have had in a long time. Cold gyoza. Skimpy California rolls with bento lunches. Tasteless chicken pad tai...most food lukewarm. Even fried rice was blah. Salads were drenched in lumpy watery dressing. Asked for a fork and a plate and got 6 forks..no plate for the 3 year old birthday boy. Will never go back. 50 bucks for lunch for 3 adults and a child. We drank water. Had higher expectations. Very disappointed.
Had an opportunity to eat lunch here last week. The sushi boat that came out for the three of us was beyond compare in presentation & taste.The quality of the different fish types was tremendous. They wouldnt honor that 2 groups at the table had Groupons, one of them my family. Had a nasty attitude. Wouldnt let you have a word edge wise. I didnt feel comfortable eating there.

Another group set at our table, they also had a groupon, they were going to accept only one of them. Besides that the manager was very rude and disrespectful. He wouldnt let me speak so I walked out.

Always sit at the bar for the best service, especially when you are only concerned about sushi! Yellow dragon for health and a crazy Friday roll for a crash your diet delight! Seaweed salad and goat cheese wontonsare a must have staple too.

Ordered food online, waited 30 minutes outside the restaurant, 20 minutes inside, and they told me to come back in an hour, which is 20 minutes after the place closes. What an absolute joke of an experience.

Fast and friendly staff.Highend atmosphere.And food decorated very well.Staff member included BOI and Kevin are amazing as always.Highly recommended to check out their full BAR with variety of cocktails options and an option of group HIBACHI wont turn you down!Love love love!

2021-10-08We celebrated my Dads 67 Birthday at The Red Samurai Steak House and it was amazing!!! We came in as a party of 10 without needing a reservation and was seated in a few minutes. Our dinners were AWESOME & DELICIOUS. I had Filet Mignon & Chicken dinner with vegetables, rice, and mein. I shared a large slice of cheesecake with my better half and wow oh wow was it filling. The show was a ton of fun and the chefs are all very funny and polite. We really really really had a great time. We always do here. Thank you for making my dads dinner a great experience.p.s. dont think your gonna leave without getting at least a fountain squirt of sakè from a few feet away either hahahaha its a ton of fun and part of the experience.

2022-03-01Went for the hibachi and really cant say what a good time it was. Food was reasonably priced and the serving size was almost obscenely large (felt like I had to be rolled out to the car afterwards). Drinks and food all delicious and the performance aspect was a lot of fun. Some of the best service Ive had at a restaurant in a while. Waiter (Jimmy or Timmy or something similar, I think) was amazing. Will definitely have to go back.

2022-03-30Its the best Hibachi spot in the area. Love the show they give you. Everyone is friendly. Its very clean. The only reason why I dont give a 5 star is without your authorization they take put their tip in the bill. Youre unable to change it. Youre unable to add more or take away and they do about 45%.

2022-02-27I wish the owner understood that when people come in together and sit at the same table that they want to eat at the same time. I wish that when the owner makes a mistake that she would own up to it and try and make it right while the customer is there, rather than ignore the problem and not communicate with the customer. I wish the owner understood that not everyone wants free stuff or a discount, some people just want some respect.
