The Restaurant in other cities:
Amazing for breakfast, extremely kind staff, dinner nice but for me a little too international and in such a beautiful place perhaps it could be good to propose some more researched dishes - but we are very particular about food so I’m sure anybody would find it amazing the way it is!
This is the epic meatloaf I had a few days ago. As seen in the photo, the texture is amazing with every bite, and quite memorable as I can’t wait to try again. The rest of the menu is quite intriguing so i’ll be back to try some more. I also ordered a bowl of French fries... and those were excellent as well.
My husband and I decided to try this new restaurant. All I can say is AMAZING! Ive worked in the Hospitality industry for many years so I appreciate great service, quality food and creative decor. This restaurant has it all!! From the time you walk in the door with a pleasant hostess, to professional and attentive servers, delicious food and intimate, cozy environment! The bar is a great place to meet friends and enjoy cocktails! We are definitely coming back!!!
Let me just say that this service for a slow week night was superb. Our waitress Stephanie was incredibly hospitable and reassured us that we did not need to rush. We got the cheeseburgers, sparkling water, truffle fries and mashed potatoes but were treated incredible by the whole staff including the cook/chef on site. The atmosphere is definitely inviting, warm and definitely a great date night place. Their menu is seasonal and is transitioning so the menu that is on the Google maps isn’t quite the same so that is a bit misleading. However, the correct menu still provides a good variety. Putting this on my radar for next time. Thank you so much Stephanie for being such a great waitress/host!
Ignore all previous reviews and pics, new menu, rotating staff, 0 consistency. Who is running this place??Feels like lipstick on a pig, cute concept but in reality felt like a dirty little tourist trap afterthought down to the little neon sign….save your $, better prices at Michelin spots. Bartender Mike especially rude on top of mediocre experience. 😭
Host was extremely friendly and helpful. Waiter was also very friendly. Drinks were tasty. Atmosphere was warm. However, we tried to order an appetizer and was told it was out of stock. We ordered an alternative, it was served within one minute and was luke warm as if it has been sitting already prepared. We ordered food and waited 1.5 hours with no dinner in sight. We were checked on a couple times and offered free drinks, which was very nice, but we were constantly reassured the food would be out soon. We did leave without dinner and were offered an apology and more free drinks upon return. I wish we had a bit more transparency upfront/throughout so we knew what to expect. Overall all of the staff we interacted with were great, but I dont think we will be returning.
Stumbled in here after a long day and this place had AMAZING food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Stephanie and Mike took great care of us and had great suggestions on wine and food. We shared a few items off the menu- the meatballs, tuna and the brussel sprouts. Highly recommend them all and stopping in for a drink and a bite to eat.
Attentive, friendly and courteous staff. Im pretty critical on the front of the house and from the beginning the hostess warm smile made me and my coworkers feel welcomed. Food was fresh and delicious. I recommend the Montauk Squid while its in season. The meatloaf was moist and delectable. We ended up moving to the bar and the drink were fresh and tasty. It recently just opened but I will definitely be back for more.
Came here, same as other people, based on the number of + reviews, although weary based on so many 1 or 2 star reviews. I get it now. I think the owners or management must be away. The poor staff are probably ok and doing the best they can without guidance but it felt like i went to a restaurant run by first year colleges kids on a training run. The ambience was a dud, nothing kills an intimate mood than bright white neon lights. We only ordered one thing and drinks, the drinks were wrong, what we ordered for $15 was so not to 5 star restaurant standards, i was surprised its even on the menu. We saw other tables leave, exceptionally long waits for food, even just simple appetizers.Something is amiss at this place. I would say there are so many other places to go in this city, wait until management changes or is at least present. Its a waste of a night to go here for dinner.
Danny went out of his way to help me and my girlfriend . One of the most genuine and kindest men we have ever came across. He made sure we were 110% content. He cares so much about his customers, and is a one of a kind owner. The food is beyond delicious and mouth watering and the drinks were perfect. This is a spot you need to try if you come to the city, ask for Danny and tell him Alfredo sent you
Beautiful modern ambiance. Very rich and tasty food, as well as a friendly and accommodating staff. You can dine while admiring the garden. Their dinner tasting menu was excellent; each dish was expertly prepared. We stayed for more than three hours and were satisfied. Its a fantastic place to celebrate a special occasion.
Sometimes a good review is due! My partner and i stumbled upon The Restaurant on a Wed evening before catching our train upstate, let me tell you what a great way to end our city adventure. The staff were on point with seating us and taking our order right away. Besides feeling supercomfy, the food which by the way i ordered the chicken with cauliflower. It was delicious, and our drinks were a perfect match. Everthing was great, def will be our first stop next time in NYC. And if im lucky, i might even get to catch the really hot owner and thank him for his great service. Thank you to the staff for making it a remarkable evening. We will see you soon.
Visiting from Colorado.. Hands down the worst dining experience I have ever had. $15 dollar glasses of wine bad attitudes. $24 dollar cheese board that looked like it was made by a 3rd grader. Busses was fantastic and engaged. Bartender and owner couldnt have cared less. Not a single apology from anyone. DO.NOT.EAT.HERE!
Something must be wrong with this place… few weeks ago I placed and order with grub hub. Few minutes later, I received a call from the restaurant saying that they were very overwhelmed in the kitchen and they couldn’t prepare my order, so they would cancel it.I assumed it would be super crowded, so I decided to call them back and told them I wasn’t in a rush, that I could pick up my order later, since I live in the block. They said it would be ready in 20min (great, i thought)When I picked it up, the place was almost empty ( like 10 people). My octopus was more like a super salty octopus chewing gum, and they forgot one of the items.Today I placed another order for pick up … when I came .. surprise !! The place was closed 🙄🙄
Worst experience ever!If minus 5 rating available, definitely deserves it.The day we had dinner there, the cook was resigned (told by the waitress) and a temporary cook was in the kitchen with most probably no experienceAll the meals we ordered were late and tasted awful. Also to operate a NY restaurant with just one cook is not a good ideaI strongly advise owner either to have sufficient team or close the restaurantThe existing waitresses tried to do their best by helping the inexperienced cook but unfortunately didnt work
Superior customer service and the food was delicious. We arrived and the kitchen had already closed for the night but the cook came back in the restaurant and made delicious cheeseburger and fries for us greatly appreciated that extraordinary customer service. This place is a must go to if your in the city visit them .
So we generally trust Google ratings when we pick where we eat. This was a 4.5, within walking distance and had availability so we decided to try it out. The restaurant itself is nice looking on the inside, I think it threw me off when I made a reservation which they didnt even confirm and told us we could sit anywhere we wanted. My husband and I are in town to watch my step-son run the NY Marathon and after a day of walking were looking forward to a sit down dinner and a glass of wine. The online menu was completely different from what was available from scanning the QR code at the table. We never got a waiter, the only reason we got water and our first round of drinks was the host/manager took our order. He was nice and apologized for lack of glasses and the fact that many menu items were out. We took it in stride determined to have a good time. Most of the menu online didnt have a description so we ordered a flatbread to start, soup for me and a chicken dish for my husband. Well, they were out of flatbread so we decided on the charcuterie board. The commotion in the kitchen was entertaining. Dishes piling up, no water glasses for new customers. The chef came out to tell us they were out of chicken (we laughed - I had made a joke about this happening) so my husband got the hamburger. We waited, we waited, we waited, eventually I wanted another glass of wine and we finally had to grab a waiter walking by. He had no idea what wine I had been provided and so we grabbed another waiter since that one never came back. Eventually we grabbed the host. At the end the food was ok. The table next to us left in a huff because the lady of the party could not use the bathroom (no paper and the door didnt lock). We laughed. We had a good time but the cost of the meal was not commensurate with the food nor the service. We sill tipped 20%. It is unclear what the issue is, bad organization? Not enough staff? All in all it was apparent that they are struggling, I hope they can fix their issues they have real possibility.
I live in the neighborhood and had been wondering what was going to happen with this space. It was previously another restaurant, I think Cuban cuisine, which went out of business. Pleasantly surprised to walk by recently and see The Restaurant now in the space. I dropped in with my sister and had an incredible meal. Cocktails are off the rails good. Like CRAZY good. Food was beautiful and delicious. My only negative feedback is that the food took a tad long to arrive but with all grand opening periods this is expected as the staff learns each other and the space. Coat check upon arrival is a nice touch !The cauliflower needs to be experienced (currently drooling just thinking about it). Roasted chicken also great, sea bass, meatloaf ... all amazing. Great food here and great team. I wish them the best!
I think this might be my new fave. The food is amazing! The ambiance is beautiful. A comfortable environment that feels very welcoming. They offer complimentary coat check which I LOVE! Especially in these winter months. There’s a neon sign that I took some amazing pictures next to. I would recommend the salmon, the macaroni & cheese , the cauliflower was amazing but my favorite was by far the oysters! Thank me later!
I work across the street and saw this place on opening day. It was very crowded so I knew the food must of been good. I tried it out for lunch and when I say I am breath taken by the food I was left speechless. The ribs are amazing they literally will melt straight off the bone and the coleslaw was so fresh it was as if they have just prepared it on the spot. The staff and owner are super nice and will always provide you with excellent customer service. The food was made with great care and will highly recommend it. This has become one of the top restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen, the prices are great as well it’s great for the food quality you get and the price you pay. If you’re in Hell’s Kitchen stop by for lunch or dinner I totally recommend you try those ribs it’s a must at this place !
The place is amazing, from the quality of the food and cocktails to the very professional service and staff. Loved the neon signs too. The bar is a great place to bring someone for a drink, especially as the bartenders are very attentive and make excellent cocktails. The ambience makes this place a great spot for either date night or to go with family/friends. Highly recommend and will definitely be back !!
I decided to try something new so my wife and I went to The Restaurant last week and we both had a great time. The appetizers were fantastic, particularly the broadbent ham and fresh oysters. Try the meatloaf or the pot roast, you will love them. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the service was great. Can’t wait to go back!
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend. I went for dinner. I will return for lunch tomorrow. If you are in Manhattan, do yourself a favor and stop in. The cauliflower was amazing. My skirt steak was utterly delicious. ALL of the appetizers were delightful.
I had the pleasure of dining her le last night and I must say this was one of the best experiences Ive had. It was a party of 4 and the service we received was impeccable. Everyone was so attentive and chef greeted us well. The food was outstanding. We had a variety if different meals, seabass, salmon, pot roast, fried squid, raw oysters and cauliflower. Everything was tasty. The cauliflower was so good we ordered a second round. Also, the oysters were from Massachusetts and they were succulent and sweet. This new gem is a must visit.
Have been meaning to write this review for a while. My son and I went to The Restaurant a few days before everything closed due to COVID. I had staked out restaurants before the trip and this one was on my short list. We were so blown away by the service, food, ambiance and welcoming staff that we came back again for our last dinner in NYC. These guys are on to something special in a crowded restaurant market. We had outstanding meals in a quaint setting, sure, but the whole experience became part of a great (though unusual) trip well always remember. Thanks so much for making us feel welcome.
My new favorite. Comfortable ambiance, excellent food and a friendly and welcoming team. They have a cauliflower that must be experienced. The meatloaf and pot roast elevate comfort food to a new high. Congratulations to this new addition to Hell’s Kitchen and one to be experienced.
Ended up at The Restaurant after a show at Birdland, because it was convenient and the reviews were stellar. Our mind was blown by the quality of the food; every dish was very good or excellent. The service, lighting and music were beyond reproach. For reference, the night before wed dropped $100/ person on a trendy-hoity-toity dinner at Cosme, and the experience at The Restaurant was 1/2 the price and a superior dining experience is virtually every way.
My new favorite spot in Hell’s Kitchen. I’ve lived in HK for 6 years and this is by far my favorite spot. Trendy ambiance upscale but still casual. TRY THE BURRATA ! Creamy sweet and smoky such a complex dish I wish I could have it in my fridge at all times. Also really enjoyed the mac and the sea bass. Highly recommend
The crispy cauliflower, the beautifully made black bass, the perfectly prepared poached salmon, the succulent squid accompanied with the creatively made cocktails; the superb service and the dashing decor greeted 4 friends with pleasure and open arms at “the restaurant.”It’s a win for me!Oh and I can’t forget “clams on the half shell and roller skates...” Good Times-Chic
I love love love this place, service was amazing, the drinks were delicious, the decor is so warm and inviting and don’t let me get started on the food OMG! I don’t know what type of wizardry is going on in that kitchen but they even make the cauliflower taste good, you might have to start changing me rent cause I’m moving in
An unexpected quality. It is so difficult to find a restaurant in the land of burgers and hotdogs that we entered this restaurant without requirement or prejudice. The welcome is exceptional both by the waitress and by the rest of the staff. The dishes, although seemingly simple, reveal balanced and effective flavors, the tuna tartare is delicious, the macaroni and cheese, the nan crisps (I didnt know) and the donuts that taste like cream croissants too. Star or not they deserve in any case that more experts than me if interested. I dont usually leave reviews but I would like to give them a little help. Its worth the detour.
The restaurant proved to be a place where a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with impeccable style and taste are successfully combined. I liked the skillfully prepared cocktails (I ordered Negroni). Of those dishes that I and my companions managed to taste, almost everything was prepared exquisitely and, at the same time, incredibly tasty at home. In my opinion (and I visited there more than once) the restaurant is well suited for a business lunch, and for a friendly get-together.

2022-05-21Really enjoyed the atmosphere here but more importantly the service. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Our waiter made great suggestions that we truly enjoyed. 2021-10-05Awesome and fun staff. We walked in just as the kitchen was closing but the chef was awesome and said he would keep cooking for us. We got the pesto gnocchi and salmon. Both were yummy. Atmosphere was cozy and clean. We were in NY visiting. Would definitely go back on our next trip.:)

2022-05-23The decor was better than the food. My bf ordered medium cooked steak and his ish came out over done. My chicken sandwich took me back to HS and not in a good way. Tasted just like the chicken Pattie’s I used to get for free at lunch.

2022-05-03Was blown away by the experience at this place. The food has changed since I last walked by, so many new menu items perfect for a casual din. I had the tuna tartare to start which had a kick but not too spicy and we shared a flatbread. The owner mentioned these are made in house and I believe it.. so fresh. My main was the chicken which I asked for more juice to dip in because the skin was so perfect… when you remember you can’t cook chicken well at home come here and don’t waste your time. The owner Joey made sure we were satisfied and dropped off our drinks. My friend was also Gluten free and they were able to accommodate easy! I will be coming back to try the brunch asap.

2021-12-19Such a great restaurant to visit for the holidays. The decor was so festive and cute and such a good playlist. We were celebrating with 5 co workers and was a great spot with 5 star food and relaxed enough to spend 4 hours there. We started with the Mac and cheese which was a magic blend of stringy cheese, the fried chicken sandwich that could compete with a true fried chicken restaurant, the flat breads (we were told) are made from scratch and had tons of flavor, we also each had different entrees. I had the cauliflower 3 ways and it was cooked perfectly. Not sure when the other reviews were from but the service was friendly and quick! Will be back very soon!

2021-09-27Fun place with an attentive staff and nice wine list. We reserved for a small group party in their Barn Room. The cauliflower was my favorite menu item we tried. Flatbreads were pretty good (go with the caramelized onion one). Pasta was a tad overdone but Im chalking that up to the large group and special order we placed.

2022-06-19Back in January I went on my first solo trip and found The Restaurant as a place to escape the snow. The manager and waitress were the most amazing people I’ve ever met and showed so much care into my experience. I could not of asked for better company to give me advice and recommendations. They truly made me feel welcome and at home. The food and drinks were to die for and they truly did wonders with this place.

2022-06-11A neighborhood gem, with amazing staff and an exceptional food and drink menu. You have to be either unimaginative or very good to have a literal name like The Restaurant, and Im glad it is the latter. We stopped by on a whim on a business trip - the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, the drinks were amazing and the food was very good. Highly recommend!

2022-04-27Recently visited NYC and came across The Restaurant because it was a beautiful day and they had tables outside; enjoyed a couple of lovely drinks. Came back the next day for brunch; shrimp and cheesy grits for him and chicken and waffles for me. Both were delicious and made us happy that we came back. With there being so many restaurants, to find one that isnt a tourist trap and creates tasty food was a good find. I would encourage people to visit it.

2022-04-01We really enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. The salmon with cauliflower puree and The Original burger were cooked to perfection. The bartenders mixed drinks were the topper to a very enjoyable dining experience.
