The River Grill in other cities:
If you go while its chilly out, make sure to tell them you want a heater. They have an enclosed area covered in plastic, but only part of it had heaters. They seated us in the dog area without a heater. Made us feel less than, although we spent more or as much as customers without dogs did.Luckily it wasnt that cold, but we did make a fuss. Unfortunately, didnt until we finished. 😕On an up note....5 stars ***** to the chef!!! The FOOD was EXCELLENT!!!
Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTravels.Great spot on the Hudson river with good food and friendly service. I had the Asian scallop salad and Diane had the lobster tails and house salad. The Asian inspired scallops were different and came out very good. Cooked perfectly, the unusual seasoning was just enough that it didnt overwhelm the scallops flavor. The salad had Mandarin orange and dried cranberries with a Zinfandel dressing. Very good. Dianes lobster tails were basically the same. Perfectly cooked and seasoned with side veggies and rice. Everything done right. The only complaint we had was that the iced tea is fountain and not fresh. Takes away from the greatness of the meal and we spoke to the manager who came around to all the tables to check on our satisfaction. Would definitely come back but just drink water.😎
We had reservations for Christmas Eve at Pamelas on the Hudson. A week before, Pamelas cancelled on us; they werent going to be open. They suggested The River Grill. We are so very glad they did! We had a wonderful time. Food and drinks were great. Servers were friendly. Menu had something for everyone. We had never been to The River Grill before, but now intend to go there often.
Terrible experience. Mediocre food; at best. Terrible service. Barely saw our server the entire time we were there. Had to flag down the server to get anything done. Dropped off our food and didnt see her again for 20 minutes. Not even busy, so no excuse. She was in the bar area chatting with the other worker. Dont waste your time.
My husband and took my mom out for dinner tonight. It was her birthday. Food took forver! People around us were getting food before us and they were there after us. I was told because we order an appetizer which is why food took a while. Waiter was very impatient with us and just kept saying sorry. Food was tasteless and took forever. We got there at 6:30 and left around 9. It was ridiculous. We offered compensation for drinks and desert for my mom. My meal was taken off because i barely ate it. It was horrible. It was overcooked pasta and tasteless. We use to love this placeand went here a lot .We definitely wont be going back here for a very, very, very long time.
Recently went there for lunch and the service was terrible. Kept us waiting way too long between our appetizer and entree and the food was okay (our oysters were over baked). Two separate tables got up and left at one point. The nastiest part was seeing the hostess continually cough in her hand through out our entire time there. She would touch the drinking cups and also pour other customers water with out ever washing her hands. Disgusting! We will not be eating here again.
My wife and I where here today for lunch. Service was terribly slow. There was not many people in the place. Our apps got messed up and we got the wrong appetizer but that issue was rectified. The food was OK not much flavor. The drink my wife ordered was good. And the view was nice
Really great place. They have a new menu. I have been there three times in two weeks with different friends trying different items ... they loved their choices and I loved mine. The patio river view was wonderful. A great place to go after this difficult year. Reservations are necessary in the evenings.
Im sharing two stars because the dinner option was ok, but the apps and wine, not so much.As a person of color, I felt extremely uncomfortable here. We waited over 1.5 hours for dinner with no updates or any regard about our food taking so long. It wasnt packed, yet the service and wait with no regard made us uncomfortable and not feel welcomed. When asked to pack our food because the long wait, we received an attitude from the waiter, but we simply had no more time to wait. It truly ruined a good moment of celebrating my brothers engagement
We went for my birthday and I was so disappointed. We had a 6pm reservation and while there were empty tables we were not seated until 630..We were seating with the wrong menus then sat unattended for another 20 minutes, had to ask if there was someone who could give us water and dinner menus... It was a 90 degree eve.We waited again 20 minutes for someone to take our order.Drinks and food took long to come out.. The restaurant was clearly under staffed, it was apparent there was no Manager on duty. The shift was in the weeds... We were Saturday at 630 and didnt get out until 9pm..With an 87 year old and two 5 year olds.. Who were starving, the rest of us lost our appetite. We took our meals home. Although it was my birthday we sadly did not stay for dessert and birthday song...Ugh
Salad was good. Portobello mushroom and mozzarella cheese sandwich came cold. They were not able to serve hot tea after 2 attempts. Tea came room temperature both times for my guest and myself. We had to ask watress for sugar and milk and salt and pepper. Milk and sugar did not come with tea and coffee. Salt and pepper did not come when meal was served.
Wife and I were looking for someplace new & a friend referred this restaurant to us so we crossed our fingers and went there for dinner this past Sunday. Wow is all I can say- The atmosphere from the greeter to buser to our host (Sean) was such a pleasant experience. The only reason I didn’t ask for another order of the super delicious Lobster slider appetizer is because my wife convinced me to wait for the main course ( Rags to Riches). After enjoying this plate of yumminess, I shared a slice of a chocolate that I cannot begin to describe- it was that good! All the while, the view of the Hudson River is killer!I’m so excited to say this place is in my rotation of restaurants to eat at-By the way, I live almost an hour away and have not issues on driving back. Top marks to everyone for a job well done!
Hit or miss. Ive been here twice in the last month. The first time was very good the second visit left me shaking my head. One of the dishes we ordered were the mussels. About 1/2 the dish had closed mussels which are unsafe to eat - I was surprised that the kitchen did not catch this. I also had stomach issues the next morning. Wont be going back. There are a few other restaurants on this strip that I will go to instead.
Called ahead and asked for outdoor seating, it was a super warm spring day. A dark tent with clear-ish walls & ceiling fans running (not that warm out) is NOT outdoor dining that we have ALWAYS look for. Stressful vibe. Food was tasty except for a wad of fat the size of my palm on a very small steak sandwich. A simple request, replace cheap lettuce with greens on burger required multiple explanations. Being overlooked / having to wait would have been no problem if we were actually outside. Over 1.5 hrs to get lunch, a burger, no dinner menu and it wasnt crowded. Had to wait again just to get the bill, almost all customers gone by then. NOW no one was around so we finally stood up to get the waitress Fallons attention to process the payment. Graciously gave the standard tip. Missed the best part of a beautiful day under a dark blue tent. :0( ps call, many nearby restaurants are now closed.
I ordered the duck breast salad, it was genuinely bad tasting. I’ve never had food that I thought “hm this just doesn’t taste good!” Surprising considering how small the menu was. The bussing was really lacking, too. We had to ask if they would please take some plates off our small cafe-sized table. This place needs some serious Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares TLC. Don’t come for the food.
Went to this place for my girlfriends cousins graduation. And it was a nice little place. And whatnot. Until I asked for a refill for my water and the waitress just never got me one. So I had to ask again. And then it takes forever just to get bread and salad to the table. It’s a party of like 10 why is it taking like 30 minutes for bread and salad??? Then what really got me was this guy refilling my girlfriends cup spills it on her and gets her side and phone wet. And the guy just mumbles, “sorry” and didn’t try to help. Just stood there and walked away while I helped her dry off. When I tell you I was about to put this man in the lake and have him go to sleep in the lake I mean it. I was about to give this guy the 1,2 Mayweather
Service wasnt great which we think is due to being with a large party (The gratuity is included so no need for the server to work hard). Food was mediocre but the views outside are lovely. Overall, go for drinks and the ambiance. This was my 2nd time here and it was the same both times.
Our family celebrated our daughters High School graduation here. We were a party of 6 and I made reservations last minute, lack of planning on my part. Courtney the host was fantastic and extremely accommodating. Staff was lovely even while having to wear their face masks. Food was excellent and view was beautiful. Would absolutely recommend this place to enjoy a nice dinner and take in the Hudson River.
Service below average. Food was ok, nothing special. We arrived at 7:05, our party had been seated 30 minutes prior our arrival. Our drink order was taken at 7:32, drinks came out 20 mts later. Placed our appetizer & entrees however our main entrees came out an hour later. Trying to get salt, water refills etc took ♾ had to request same items multiple times. It’s a Thursday, restaurant didn’t look as busy as other times. It was very disappointing to say the least.
I really wanted to like this place- it has a beautiful patio with great views of the water! The bartender was great and the blue lemonade was delicious. But for $30, I was expecting a lot more flavor in our sea bass dish. The vegetables were tasteless. Service was incredibly slow and inattentive- maybe not the fault of the wait staff... it seemed ours had a lot of tables she was dealing with. We also had a 10 minute wait for a table outside and there were many empty tables outside that never filled.
Don’t expect your online reservation to be posted in their book when you arrive. Our reservation was not listed! Thankfully they found us a table, but it was a inside table. From what the hostess said, this was not a first online reservation occurrence. Delicious food but don’t reserve online.
One of our favorites, though we dont get there often enough. Nicely varied menu with an ample selection of meats, fish and appetizers for sharing. Its a neat place on the waterfront, with great views of river traffic, recreational boaters, bird antics and of course, people watching. Pleasant ambiance, simply appointed without being dated. Good food. Good service. Fair price.
Very good food and exceptionally helpful and nice staff. We visited (unexpectedly), with a group of seniors following an Army game. Even though the restaurant was nearly at capacity they pushed tables together to accommodate our group of 10. The food was delicious and plentiful. - especially the Paella :).
I was in a few weeks ago, and the meal was fantastic! The portions were generous and the steak was cooked perfectly. I found the staff to be friendly and very attentive... I was so impressed by my experience, I sent my sister and her husband over for their anniversary dinner. I heard only rave reviews from her as well. This place is a gem on the waterfront!
We had a lovely welcome by the staff and a wonderful lunch on the patio. As a party of 5, all ordered something different and all were pleased with their choices. That doesnt happen often! Service was warm and impeccable from the server, to the manager, to the bus boy. Drinks were kept full and plates were removed as soon as each person was finished. I wish we could get service like this in my town.
My boyfriend and I come here for date nights and it is always a pleasurable experience which is extremely important to us since our date nights are the only time we have a break from our toddler as well as the only time we truly have to spend together. The sea food is ALWAYS fresh. We have never had any issues or complaints in terms of food quality, drinks, or service. We coincidentally always get the same server which, we love! There is outdoor seating and its right by the water. There are two family sized bathrooms and from my experience there, are always clean. I recommend dining here and will post pictures of the food next time we go!
We will never come here to eat again! We will tell all not to come here either. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our sons safe return from sleep away camp. The night was balmy and beautiful, and he requested the riverfront. We sat outside, breeze was great, as well as the views. Our server spotted us and immediately decided to ignore us, taking his sweet time to greet us. Unbeknownst to me was a brick island with a concrete shelf directly behind me. The host nor the server pointed it out or forwarned me about it. When the server finally came over, he was dry and as unfriendly as a server should never be. When he asked about our drinks, I leaned back in thought and banged my head into the concrete shelf. The rest of the experience was a wash. Service was awful, and although the food was good, it wasnt good enough to override the service. Even though the manager came over two times to check on us, the restaurant did not offer an adjustment to our bill for setting up our table so close to a brick island shelf, that posed a danger to myself/anyone sitting in my chair, and ruining our celebration. Very bad business.
Food: Good, but pricey ($120 for two for late afternoon dunch - Expensive, considering its freaking NEWBURGH). Service: Attentive and efficient. The place has a small bar area which was occupied by a loud, obnoxious, twenty-something group. Maybe our timing was bad, but IMHO, its not really a great place for quiet meal...
We are in from out of town and were able to easily make a reservation for 11. However we were not impressed with our order. Out of 11 dishes, 5 came out incorrect. One burger came without cheese and the 4 kids chicken fingers came out as fish and chips. The kids waited another 40 minutes for chicken fingers... The view was nice, the bus boy was very polite, but the food was sub par.
We were looking for a place on the water for my parents 70th birthday parties. River Grill was able to easily accommodate our 20 people in their indoor dining room. The prix fix catering options offered a good mix of choices for everyone in our party, from 3 to 77 years old (we chose chicken francaise, prime rib and stuffed sole). Staff was very friendly and attentive (refilling water and soft drinks at regular intervals). All in all, a great day!
We have eaten hear before, but I have seen a decline. They lost our credit card temporarily, for about 20 minutes and then the waitress found it on the floor. The manager didnt seem to know what to do. She was ready to give up until I made some suggestions. I wasnt going to leave the restaurant without cancelling my card, After alot of back and forth they found it. The manager or the waitress never even offered to give us a discount or anything. I wasnt looking for anything, but that is bad customer service. Will try someplace else next time. Also took a long time for food and it wasnt that crowded. This place has a lot of bad reviews it seems, a lot service related.
The night before Mothers Day may have been a factor in our poor dining experience. We made a 5oclock reservation a week in advance for a special dinner. The restaurant was very understaffed. We asked four different people for missing meal or drink items, and they were forgotten. Not deliberately or with attitude. They were just spread so thin. The food was overdone and it was probably left too long under warmers waiting for a free server. Everyone was sweet and apologetic.
Its very obvious that the management is professional and conscientious about everything for the comfort and satisfaction of their customers. It carries through to all the employees as well. The food is fabulous. Cant wait to go back in the Spring and enjoy the outdoors. On the Hudson, watching the boats!
Went there for the first time during early opening after COVID. COURTNEY (hostess) was beyond amazing handling all the impatient patrons that needed to be seated. She really did a fantastic job (TAKE NOTE, Mr. OWNER). Even though it took a while to get seated - given the circumstances, our server Steven and Bobby was always so accomdating. Food came out relatively fast and it was fresh. Even the new recruit, Shannon was super friendly. Will be back for sure!
I was completely disappointed with The River Grill last night. I had been there several times and loved it. I had not been in a while so we decided to go there for dinner. What a mistake! It was the worst meal we have had in a long time. First I have to say our Waitress was great so this is not about her service. We ordered Calamari (tasted re-heated and it was chewy) we couldnt eat it. I ordered the Ahi Tuna special (should have been a safe choice) but it absolutely was not. The dish was $28 and the Tuna was off - the presentation nice - the taste was gross - gag reflex gross. My boyfriend ordered the Rigatoni with Chicken and Sausage (easy enough, right?) - oh goodness NO! He couldnt eat it - it was disgusting. We mentioned it to the waitress and she offered to have the manager come over. We declined and paid the $96.00 bill vowing to never return. This morning I felt I just had to write this review because the bill was very high and again it the absolutely worst meal we have had in a long time. In hindsight - The manager should have come over anyway knowing how disappointed we were with the meal. Not sure what is going on with The River Grill but I will suggest spending your money elsewhere. Foodies beware.
First time here. The entrees were good. Our drinks tasted a little funny. The pricing for the entrees I think we pretty fair for the location with the exception of dessert. ONE scoop of ice cream was $6 and a SLIVER of tiramisu was $9. Other than that, our dining experience was pleasant.
Well our service was good at first, but I ordered two dishes to go and had to wait an 1/2 an hour for them. The server never came over and apologized for waiting that long instead she got annoyed when I asked whats taking so long. Well were in rush our now, thats why it taking so long. That wasnt has bad until after we proceed to leave the resturant and noticed her complaining to her boss about us. While we were waiting on our food to go we had already paid our $143 bill and left her a 20% tip. We never asked for a discount all we wanted was our food in a timely manner.. Needless to say well go back to this resturant. I work too hard for my money, Ill spend it where Im appreciated. I should have read the other reviews before I went to this resturant.
If you like a nice river view this place is OK. The deck was full but the inside was deserted. The service was slow. We arrived at 12.35 lunch time on a beautiful June day, waited 15 minutes to be seated (no big deal) but it took a full 45 minutes to get the food. Is that a long time? For me it is since I ordered a chicken BLT sandwich and my wife got a burger--nothing complicated. My aunt got the baby back ribs. Nothing was bad but nothing that good either. The roll for the burger and for my sandwich were below average and cold. Does it take that much effort to toast a roll? If the owner reads this review I would suggest you take advantage of the Arthur Avenue bread from the Bronx available all over Orange County in the supermarkets The baby back ribs were well cooked but the BBQ sauce is really uninspired.
My partner and I visited this location today. The service was great. The food was not good at all. It left a lot to be desired. The supervisor kept walking around doing nothing but stopped our waiter Nolan to reprimand him. It was horrible. We felt bad for him and told her about it as we left. You should never embarrass your workers or speak to them in that manner in front of patrons let alone in private. We would not be back!
Casual, spacious and busy. Nice view and reasonable prices. Servers are friendly but take forever to bring your order around. Fine if you are free and have time to kill savoring the view and the breeze which seems.like a proper use of the place. A people watching spot as well.
Beautiful views, food was good but service was subpar. We waited a while for our order to be taken, forever to get pepper and cheese for my pasta , I actually never got it. Had to ask 2 different servers to get my waiter, finally got the manager to get him for our check, that took over 20 mins. Asked 2 servers to bring us a box and a bag.to bag up our food..it was no good. They were busy but really? Cant get bread on the table, cant get cheese for pasta, cant ask us at least once if we are ok, cant bring us our check when its clear we are done eating !? Restaurant is nice but u cant be in ANY type of rush
A bit pricey considering the overall experience, we left with a bittersweet feeling about the place. The food was very good but the service was bad.The waiter who attended our table was not attentive at all. After eating the appetizer and the salads that comes with the menu, I had to order myself the bread that I was seeing on other tables but was never offered to us. The waiter only came once at the end of our dinner to see if everything was ok. My husband had to ask the other waiter for another drink and we were never checked to see if there was anything else that we could need. When we were getting ready to leave, a waiter came right after us to clean the table. Five minutes after we left I realized that I forgot on the table my leftover.... when I came back, they told me that they had throw it away. !!!!????? Hey! What abut that waiter? Could he warn me about forgetting my box?!!! Could they wait 15 minutes just in case I came back to pick it up? Let me tell you, I only ate half of that delicious but pricey rib eye! and now its in the garbage
River Grill went above and beyond for veterans today! My vet husband enjoyed a fantastic entree, and my dinner was excellent as well. Thank you so much, we will surely be back!Edit: We came back as promised, and very much enjoyed our meal, with one exception. I beg you, get rid of those terrible restaurant-supply carrots. They are overgrown and tasteless. Carrots and all vegetables are worthy of our respect!I might as well mention that although the calamari was mouth-wateringly fresh and delicious, I thought the batter could have been crispier. Minor detail though.
Second time eating here and second time disappointed. The food is delicious for the most part and prices are fair. The service is not very good. Ordered the half duck recieve two duck legs, which is not what I was really expecting. One would assume you get a breast and a leg. When I questioned the served she told me its a wing and a leg. One, it was definitely two legs I cook allot of duck and I am not retarded. Two, that would still be misleading as that is not half a duck. Mind you this is a 30 dollar plate. Gave it a second chance, now I am positive I will never go back.
Congratulations, Mark on your 17th Anniversary as owner/host of The River Grill .Dinner tonight, the special, steak and lobster tail, was delicious. The service was excellent and the food arrived in a timely manner. The drinks were excellent, as usual. Heres to another 17 years!
My experience at The River Grill was great. Service and food were outstanding. A very nice place. Has outdoor dining to view the waterfront. The inside bar and dining area is amazing. The staff members are all attentive and are genuinely nice. I Will definitely be back!
Absolutely horrible we were treated like we were dirt on the bottom of somebody shoe. We walked in for lunch on Sunday and we wanted to sit outside near the water . The hostess told us that the 4 or 5 empty tables that were out there were all reserved so I asked why there werent any cards saying reserved on them and she said it was because they were being set up right now but the issue with that was 4 out of the 5 of them were already set up but there were no cards saying reserved. I said fine we will go somewhere else, she then proceeded to say OK BYE.ZI called and spoke to the manager today and she did apologize but couldnt tell me why the hostess didnt explain their procedure to me.As soon as I mentioned putting this incident in a review she immediately said please dont do that what can I do for you? Of course I said nothing thats not why I called. So the food may be good, but the people skills not so much . Dont waste your time and money.
Upon arrival to what i thought would have been an enjoyable night with my lovely significant other, the hostess at the stand was super nice and effecient with getting us a lovely seat for our reservation on a Saturday night. The waitress then took our drink and appetizer order, we ordered steamers..bad choice. We had a couple then discovered a dirty, strong, smell coming from the appetizer that was so overbearing we stopped eating them and pushed them to the end of our table where a flock of fruit flys swarmed it almost immediately. Shortly after we placed our order for dinner and it didn’t dwell upon me until hearing the table next to me getting told the specials for the night that we were never told by our waittress. Next, my main dish which was the rags to riches was okay, it came out scolding hot with over cooked shrimp and a soup like sauce. As for my boyfriend, his dish arrived which was the steak and was ordered rare and came out well done. Also, you could tell the steak had been sitting out for sometime. Overall, i give this restaurant a one star because the view is the only good experience i had about it and was deffinently not worth the $150.00 spent. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The River Grill is a wonderful romantic experience! My girlfriend and I enjoyed the couples dinner! We loved the tuna appetizer and the filet appetizer was definitely delicious! We both indulged in the bone in Angus which we couldnt get enough of! Of course the dessert was to die for! She had the yummilious red velvet cake and I plowed down the creme brulee that came out on fire! 🔥❤️ The drinks and service was the best, I suggest everyone goes to The River Grill and enjoy your time!
The food was good but the service was TERRIBLE! We were one of two tables that were seated on the inside and there were maybe 8 tables on the outside patio -- not terribly busy. After sitting at the table for 10 minutes, we finally called a server over to bring us water. We placed a drink order and the waiter immediately went back to the bar where he and the bartender reviewed texts on their cell phones for 5 minutes before deciding to pour our wine. Refills were never offered as we didnt see our waiter again until he was ready to bring us the check. And then they charged my credit card incorrectly. With the choice of restaurants at the waterfront, I will never be visiting this place again.
Horrible first time experience at this restaurant! What was supposed to be a nice family night out for my brother in laws birthday, ended up being a complete waste of time and money. The food had ZERO flavor, the utensils were dirty, there were fruit flies everywhere and it took us almost two hours to receive our food. Next time we will go to captain jakes!
Will never go back! Found glass in our salad and the drunk manager accused us of planting this glass in our own salad in which my husband chipped his tooth and cut his tongue. That was supposed to be a beautiful celebration with my mom dad and husband. It was one of the most humiliating experiences of my life. My dad has since passed and thats how we spent my last birthday with my father.
Mussels and clams were great.Steak was a bit chewy.Linguini with clam sauce was delicious. Wasnt happy with the Sangria, tasted like a mix with not a single piece of fruit in it and charged $14 for a glass, then had a mojito , same glass without any mint in it....they need to train bartenders on how to make drinks, especially at those prices! Also no bread, salt, pepper or parmesan cheese for pasta.
We arrived here after rejecting the option of dining at another restaurant down the road where we were treated rudely. We were treated graciously upon arriving here, and were seated at a roomy table. The menu options were very appealing. I was a little disappointed that the yummy olive tapenade and butter spiked with herbs and pepper that came to our table were accompanied by an uninteresting piece of bread to spread them on. But that was the only disappointment we encountered with the food. We shared a lovely special Thai coconut shrimp bisque, and our salads (they come with the entrees) were well made and well dressed. My entree (a special of crab stuffed shrimp in lemon cream sauce) was well made, with a tasty sauce, real crabmeat and the cartilage removed from the shrimp so you could eat the whole thing. The sides with the entree were tasty, even the veggie medley. My fiances pasta dish was delicious, with tasty seafood ravioli in a cajun cream sauce and lots of shrimp. The service was good although it took a while to get our bill at the end of the night. We will definitely go back in warm weather to sit outside and enjoy the river!
Limited lunch menu. Beautiful view of the Hudson River. They were setting up the back deck for a wedding while we were eating lunch. Seems rude to be setting up an area that people were still eating in. As they were setting up a divider it fell and hit an older woman.
Went for dinner, hostess told us we could go to bar. bartender was not complying to covid social distancing guidelines and not wearing a mask while making beverages and serving people. He even allowed two patrons to remove their mask to drink in front of him. When it was our turn, he questioned the age of my friend who is 23 and gave him his NY drivers license. He didnt believe him and started quizzing him on pe teachers from his high school. He would not believe him and there was nothing about his drivers license that looked fake. We left and will never return. I am also reporting the establishment and the bartender to the ny covid social distancing hotline.
A TOTAL AND COMPLETE DISASTER....RESERVATION WAS MADE FOR AN OUTDOOR TABLE...WHEN PARTY ARRIVED INCLUDING HANDICAPPED GENTLEMAN, NO OUTDOOR SEATING WAS AVAILABLE...WAITED 25 MINUTES BEFORE A WAITRESS APPEARED...TOOK OUR DRINK AND DINNER ORDER---WAITED AN ADDITIONAL 25 MINUTES BEFORE BEVERAGES WERE SERVED...ONE HOUR AND TEN MINUTES LATER--STILL NO FOOD,,,CHECKED WITH THE MANAGER--ZEUS--AND WAS INFORMED IF YOU WANT FAST FOOD GO TO MCDONALDS....NEVER HAVE I BEEN TREATED AS RUDELY AND UNPROFESSIONALLY...RIVER GRILL--NEVER AGAIN! AND MY FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES WILL BE MADE AWARE OF THE EMBARASSING NIGHT WHICH WAS TO HAVE CELEBRATED A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY.
Food was good, prices a tad high, only grievance was waiting at the bar, the bar tender barely spoke English and reaked of marijuana and was extremely inattentive and had an attitude, could be a great place if they had great service all around, but sorry to say the bar tender left a bad taste in our mouth unfortunatunatly
Went there for a graduation Party of over 25 people...Pre fixed menu was suggested..when we arrived it took almost half hour to take our order and over an hour for the 1st course to arrive...the service was horrible and the food was disgusting...If a food critic was there that night or the health department they would have closed the restaurant down...Its very disappointing because its a beautiful location but not comparable to the rest of the restaurants on the waterfront

2022-02-13If I could give 0 stars I would! I went to the River Grill this weekend with my boyfriend for Valentines Day. We are both quite young compared to everyone else, 18 and 19. As the owner (I think, male middle age) was going around greeting everyone for coming to the restaurant, he skips our table and looks at us as if we are children and goes on and on to all the other tables. Throughout our dinner, he went over to the other tables about 3 times and still not a word to us. The waitress continues to not come over to our table for about 15 minutes. The only good employee at the restaurant was the bus boy and if we could just give him the entire tip we would have. When we were given our salad, my boyfriend started to choke and ran out of water, both mine and his, and as I am trying to find a waiter or waitress for more water, there was no one in site. The only person that was on the floor a 100% of time was the bus boy doing jobs that was not his problem. I am also quite disgusted by how much they charge for the quality and portion of the meals we were receiving. I know a lot about hospitality since I go to culinary school and this restaurant should not be in business after my visit. So rude and awful service! This is the food we received and our total was 90$?! The mashed potatoes had no taste the only reason I finished my food was cause I was hungry.

2022-04-09My roommate and her friend invited me out for dinner and we decided to go to the waterfront and eat at the River grill. The staff was fantastic our waiter was very helpful in helping us make great food choices for our meal. The chicken wings were very good I was expecting it to be very greasy or oily and it was not at all it felt almost light. The Filet Mignon was excellent, I was surprised because the presentation was kinda meh but the food was great melted in my mouth and was very tasty. The cheesecake was absolutely amazing all the way around it was just so so good. The ambiance was fine we were on the enclosed eating area and we all had a great time

2021-08-01What a treat to enjoy fine dining in a beautiful setting overlooking a marina on the Hudson River. Our server Fallon, was a pro. I started with a Cosmo made with Gran Marnier and a sweet little Johnny Jump Up. Nice touch. Husband enjoyed an IPA beer. His order of diver scallops was, according to him, some of the best he has ever had. My linguini with shrimp and clams in wine sauce was also very good with a pile of chopped clams and clams in the shells. Cheesecake so yummy. Just over a hundred bucks. He had a second beer and I finished up with a Kalhua and coffee. Well worth the $$ when ambiance, service and food are all great!

2022-05-14GreatWe just left the River GrI’ll after celebrating my parents 89th and 90th birthday. It was perfect. Perfect view, perfect Waite staff, perfect margaritas and the perfect variety of food. There were many excellent choices on the lunch menu, all reasonably priced. The ribs were delicious, cooked to perfection. My Craser salad was large and topped with an abundance of Cajun chicken slices. The rest of the party had hamburgers and all sermed pleased. My mom said the sweet potato fries were the best she ever had and at 89 ”ever” is saying it all.The owner was extremely welcoming and after checking on us during the meal he made a point to come to our table before we left to thank us for coming. We will return.V SnyderCallahan /Baccomo party of 8
