We stopped in here for lunch on 1/12. Ive never had Vietnamese food before, so I was looking forward to the new experience. We started with the pok pok (fish sauce) wings that were pretty awesome.I had a pork banh mi sandwich, which aside from the sliced mystery meat (pate) that was on it that I had to take off, was also good.Lahna had the lemongrass chicken bowl, which she also enjoyed. The food was good. Nothing to rave about. Definitely cant say that Im a lover of Vietnamese food now. Would go back again.
I wish this place was not just in NY! I recently moved to Florida and nothing can compare to the flavor this place has. They also have many vegetarian options ! I usually get the bowl with rice noodles and shrimp. As well as the spring and summer rolls which are so fresh! Everyone I bring here is always very happy!
Weve been going to the rolling spring roll since a week after they open the restaurant. It could be that the owner is concentrating his time in his other place in Syosset, but the Pho taste like its made from bullion concentrate. Its bland, tasteless, and doesnt have the taste of the classic spices that other Vietnamese restaurants have. We were very disappointed.
Not the most authentic but that’s really hard to find even in big cities. Food was good. Pho soup is tasteful, noodles not pho noodles but ok. Best thing was probably the lemon grass chicken bánh mì, definitely have ordered this one multiple times. Delivery order was good and dine-in service was quick. Overall, good Vietnamese spot for Long Island area.
I actually have had from them before and their pho is so good. second time I tried to order from them on the phone today and the guy was very rude and hung up on us twice. The first time he said nothing and hung up then didnt answer the calls for a few minutes, the second time he said ok bye before we could even finish the order
I heard a rumor that they were closing this location and I was devastated. Luckily they’re still open so I’m leaving this review to help keep them open. THE BEST Vietnamese food, pho, spring rolls, everything. If you think that anywhere else is better, you’re LYING. If you wanna try something new do not hesitate trying The Rolling Spring Roll, id give 20 stars if I could!
My review is based solely upon my takeout order of Pho Beef. When I saw the menu, I wasnt expecting too much from the Pho due to lack of options compared to other Pho places, but I was not expecting for the beef to be packed INSIDE THE HOT BROTH. This was worse than having steak cooked well done. Also, there were jalapenos hidden below the bean sprouts which made it difficult to taste the broth due to how spicy it got. From what I could taste of the broth, it was much weaker compared to other Pho places.
A small place, so you must be patient, but the turn- over is pretty quick. As a Vietnamese person, I find The Pho is decent, nice flavor, I would like the seasoning to be a little stronger, but its delicious anyway. my favorite is the summer roll, very authentic, spring roll is also off the hook. All in all you will not be disappointed. The staff is friendly, the owner when there are Great.
Excellent place. Excellent food!I’ve finally found an authentic Pho restaurant that not only met my expectations, but surpassed it. The Pho, rice dishes, the rolls... everything I had have been delicious.I would have to go to the city for some good Pho so to find one on the island and so close, means no more traffic. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
My favorite place for Vietnamese food especially Pho! I never had Pho before the rolling spring roll, since I have tried a few other spots but none compare to RSR. My favorite spot in the Farmingdale village me and my wife have been going here for years. The wait staff changed a lot since we started going and most of our favorite waiters are gone but this still remains a go to spot for me. Me and my wife go all the time and eat for about $50 not sure where else you can go and have a quality meal for two at that price. Recently we have been having the beef satay hot plate which is also amazing. Keep it up RSR!
As you already know, I only give a five-star rating to those special spots that stand out amongst the mediocrity weve all come to experience way too many times. This locale is cute, cozy and amazing. If you love Pho youll adore this great restaurant. With bowls you can drown in and perfectly paired with the spring rolls you will keep coming back time and time again.
Food tastes okay, spring rolls tasted good. My family and I went there to eat close to the closing time so I was rushed by the restaurant waitress and waiters a little bit. The pho here tasted a little bland. My family and I speak Vietnamese so when we tried to speak with the waiters and waitresses in Viet, they couldnt understand. Overall I would recommend eating Vietnamese food here. However, the foods not as authentic since its not made by Vietnamese chefs.
This place is tiny but wonderful. I always get the spring rolls (fried), and my husband always gets the summer rolls (the ride paper w cellophane noodles and shrimp). Last time, I ordered the beef satay ride bowl and loved it. I can get better grilled pork chops at Saigon, but the grilled pork chop here is pretty good. It u dont like pork chops, u MUST try the Vietnamese style ones, bec theyre out of this world.
Not many Vietnamese food places on the island but Rolling Spring Roll is my go-to for my cravings! Their classic banh-mi is authentic but a little overpriced. Their pho is good (just lacking some authentic options like tripe, honeycomb, tendon) but overall good with its rich broth. Theyre rice/noodle bowls are delish too! Love the salad that comes with it. Highly recommend!
Kind of a small place and gets pretty crowded for lunch. We had to sit at a small table that barely fit our food. The Pho here is pretty good. Ive had better Pho, but here on the Island there isnt that much choice. The waiters here are quick, but not very friendly. With Pho you get a plate of beansprouts and stuff for the soup. The plate is pretty small and whats weird is that whether you get Pho yourself or you and another person in your party get it, the plate with vegetables is is the same size. At the other Pho places these plates were bigger for each person, but here they are smaller than that and they give you just one plate for two people. I asked them for another plate like that, and apparently the waiter misunderstood me, because he brought out a small empty plate. I explained again that Id like the plate with the vegetables because the one they gave us is enough for just one soup, and this time he brought out another plate with the vegetables for me, but even smaller than the first one. I guess beansprouts and a piece of lime are expensive? Tea here is expensive too. If you want a cup of Lipton (!) tea, the one made with a teabag that costs 5 cents max, youll have to pay $2 here. This despite other Vietnamese places offering free tea.So the Pho here gets a 4 out of 5, but the rest of the experience brings it down to 3.
The fresh rolls tasted great but one order was for $6 for two rolls. Normally it costs $3-$4. The Shrimp Pho was over priced for the amount of meat and broth you got. Plus the beef broth tasted it was made from a package and not from the beef marrow. The broth I was expecting when I go for Pho at a is sweet and soothing beef broth. I frequent many Vietnamese restaurants and I would say it was disappointing to see great reviews and not tasting the quality of Pho that I had paid for. I have had much better with better broth.
This place has the best pho around. As tge name suggests, the spring rolls are delicious and they are served with your standard sauce and toppings. The pho is great, and you can season it to your hearts content. I also highly reccommend the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The pricd ia great too. Two people can easily gorge themselves here under $40. Excellent!
I told my friends about this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. This recommendation is always successful. The the cooking is flavorable and the crew is efficient and cooperative. Whenever we go to this place we pass a pleasing time. warmly recommended.
The food is so overpriced now. When I started going there last summer, a bowl of pho was just over $8. Now its $10 and it looks like there is less meat in it. The service is not like it was before. They now have the new busier location in Syosset and I think the owner and manager stay there more. The farmingdale location doesnt seem to have anyone supervising any more. The servers are still nice, but last time I was there, two people who were apparently friends with the server sat down after we ordered but got their food on the table first. Our pho came when they were halfway done eating. And the server forgot the bean sprouts and spoons for the pho. We stared at our food for quite a few minutes before she finally brought them up.I no longer will recommend this place to my friends any more. The food is still good, I may still go there considering that there is really no other vietnamese restaurants around here.
I liked this place. It is hard to find a decent asian bite outside of major cities. This caught my eye when i was sitting at Croxleys earlier last week so i needed to try it.Broth hit the spot - it was pretty good, not talking Pho Pasteur straight from Saigon, but we are talking American suburb good pho. Looking forward to coming here again with my family.Highlights: Way too many noodles (ask for half). Good service. XL size is pretty big. Their R size is the same as other places large size.Skip the spring rolls, its a bit pricey for what you get.
If you are looking for a quick, cheap, filling meal for lunch, then this is the perfect spot. Walked in and was seated quickly. I ordered the regular size chicken Pho, a friend ordered the regular size beef Pho, and we split an order of the spring roll app.The spring rolls were out within 10 minutes and are a must order. They were crisp, fresh and left you wanting more. The entrees came out shortly after and were more than enough to leave you full for the rest of the day. The chicken was bland and a bit rubbery. The broth also lacked any real flavor. However, by adding the sriracha, jalapeno peppers, and oyster sauce, the broth became alive with such a balanced taste. The service was swift and efficient. Great place to grab a bite during a time crunch.
Chubby waiter with glasses doesnt even know to first serve customers with simple glasses of water when seated prior to asking do you want to order appetizers? Even after asking him to get us some water first because the kids were very thirsty, he completely ignored us and attended to other customers. After being so dumbfounded by this waiters behavior, the kids mother had to walk up to the counter and got two glasses of water for the kids herself. When this waiter finally got two other glasses of water to our table, he threw the straws onto the table and walked away. We were so disgusted by this waiter, we just got up and left.I dont know who the owner of this restaurant is, but should strongly consider letting this waiter go for the sake of this restaurant. This type of rudeness and inattentiveness to the customers in this type of business will be detrimental to the success of the business.
2 stars for portions. But the Pho was bland. I’m not sure what broth they are using but its was relatively flavorless. The veggies tasted old and were very unorthodox. Such as cauliflower and cucumbers but no bok choy. It’s pretty clear this place is trying to cater to a western palette. In doing so they’ve compromised authenticity and taste.
Terrible service.Very unfriendly people. Waitress never smiles. Waiter not much better. They never come to the table ask you if you want more water or anything else. When you ask them something additional, they look at you like “Why are you bothering me”Didn’t bring any source to the table I had to go up and get it myself.Ditto review for their Syosset location
Been going here for years, before they became popular, this place has gone down hill in quality keeping up with demand. Terrible service, we had a table full of dirty dishes the entire time, no offer for refills. The price of the food has increased, but has not improved. The owner use to come and talk with the guest, no longer.

2022-05-02I went around 3pm on a Sunday and had no trouble getting a seat. I got an xl beef and left feeling full, but I think that was mainly cause of the spring rolls I split. Didnt feel there was a ton of meat in the pho especially for almost 17$. Ive been here a few times and I do enjoy the food, but kind of feel like the portions are kind of small.

2022-04-21Clean, nice, small Vietnamese place. When seated you are encouraged to scan the bar code for the menu and order through there. I was feeling a little under the weather, and you know what they say, pho helps with that. So I ended up going with the traditional Pho Bo. Comes with sliced beef, beef brisket & meatballs (opted out the meatballs). Red onions & scallions on top. Bean sprouts, basil, jalapeños & wedge of lime on the side. The broth does have a very strong beefy flavor so if thats not your thing then maybe consider trying something else. I personally enjoyed my meal, especially with the siracha on the side. All the ingredients complimented each other & came together to create wonderful flavors. You get spicy & fresh at the same time. Now I did also get to try the Tan Binh chicken wings. Even though they were glazed with a hot chili sauce they remained crispy. They were one of the best non-american traditional wings Ive had. You do pay on your phone as well. It seems like more contactless service is implemented in this spot. Which personally I like interaction but hey to each there own. Understandable.

2022-02-06Pho was alright, a little flavorless. I wish there was more meat for the price. They encourage ordering online even if you dine in, which I thought is weird, but it ends up being quicker than waiting on a waiter.

2021-05-25FYI, I’m vegetarian and ordered for delivery, so your experience might vary.Ordered the following:1. Vegetarian Pho2. Tofu Banh MiFood:Uhhh, I’m really disappointed. Maybe the experience might’ve been different dining in, but I just was not a fan of the food.Vegetarian Pho: soup was good, but the vegetables like the carrots, zucchini, and cauliflower were cut big and undercooked… They ended up being kinda raw and hard when I was eating it. The pho noodles were hard and when I poured the soup in (I even microwaved it so it’s hot much hotter), the noodles were still stuck together. I wonder if there is a better way to prep the noodles for delivery.Tofu Banh Mi: ehhh, not a fan. Quite typical, came with a little bit of tofu and the usual banh ni veggies. I’d say it was a big okay.Lackluster experience via delivery. I’d give this place a visit in person next time to see if it’s any different, but food this time was not good via delivery.

2022-06-24Been here many times, but this time first time in a while. Food still very good. Clean. But theyve cut down heavily on the amount of protein on their bahn mi - kind of cheap and insulting given the price. Too bad. Not sure Ill be back because of that.

2022-03-27Had the pork and the chicken bahn mi. Quite good. Take out container was nicely insulated so the food was hot even after a 20 min ride.

2019-12-273.5 stars. We visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and the place was packed. The restaurant is on the smallish side and the décor is pretty basic. Heres what we ordered:The classic banh mi which comes with grilled pork belly, cha (Vietnamese cold cut) and the house special pate along with cucumbers, carrots and pickled daikon on a French baguette. The bread was really good, crusty and crunchy and held all of the items without falling apart. As far as taste, I thought the banh mi was decent. Not the best Ive had but good.We got an order of spring rolls which were yummy. I liked that they perfectly cut the lettuce so that it was easier to wrap the spring rolls in. The vinaigrette that you were supposed to dip the rolls in were kind of bland which was disappointing. We got a big bowl of Pho Bo. It came with sliced beef, beef brisket and meatballs. The broth was very light. I was expecting it to be beefier in taste, but it wasn’t bad.We also ordered Angus beef short ribs and lemongrass chicken. The Angus beef short ribs were the best dish from our lunch. The meat was tender, thinly sliced and grilled perfectly. It had a nice grilled aroma. The lemongrass chicken was nothing special. Chicken was tender but lacking in flavor. Both the chicken and short ribs came with a small bowl of white rice. And I must say, I was slightly disappointed by the white rice served here. White rice should be fluffy and slightly moist with a little bit of a sticky texture. The rice we got was a little dry and bland. For drinks, we ordered the café du monde which was served pipping hot with condensed milk. It was very strong and sweet, exactly how I like my coffee. No complaints there.Based on the reviews and high ratings, I really was expecting more from this restaurant. I thought the food overall was decent, but I’ve had better.

2018-06-20The OG location. Their second is in Syosset, has a larger menu and bigger dining room, as well as a bar. Ive been here several times, both locations and I love it. The prices are fair for Long Island since its very hard to find Vietnamese food and and sometimes Flushing/Chinatown is just too far of a drive. Its still cheap though compared to other dinner spots and the food is great. Hits the spot if youre craving Vietnamese and dont want to drive out to Queens or the city. Their spring rolls are the best! Even the vegetarian ones are good. I always take a banh mi to go to have for a late night snack or lunch the next day. The owner is also super nice -he remembers you too, which is a nice touch for a restaurant- and the staff is great. Small restaurant but they do an excellent job.

2022-01-16Easy online order for pick-up experience. Quick and easy, friendly staff greeted me when I arrived. Food was warm and delicious when I got home. I had the chicken Pho. My company had Banh Mi. We all shared spring rolls. It was a great experience!

2019-07-20A small Asian place in downtown Farmingdale, wow! The atmosphere is almost like a pizzaria, but the pho makes up for it. Tried the summer rolls and beef pho. The summer rolls were nothing special, but the pho was pretty good. Heavily spiced with cloves and star anise, it cuts the greasiness it can sometimes have. The portion seems ok but the price is a bit on the higher side. Service is typical asian service; quick and to the point. Definitely will come back for more!
