Just go to The Cheesecake Factory instead.Appetizers were great, but the entrees were just “OK”. Service quality and attention to detail was less than desirable for the price range. Little communication from waiter about several entrees arriving at the table 10 minutes late, and not very attentive table service regarding water and general check ins. Also, the food runners frequently did not know who at the table ordered what, which resulted in the auctioning off of food items. It was a fine meal, but not the level of service I would expect of a higher-end restaurant. Cheesecake Factory would make a fine substitute.
The food at the restaurant was really good. The rooms are nicely decorated although lacking a little furniture. The space buy the window was missing a comfy chair. Unfortunately I was unable to lift the blind in my room as it overlooked the carpark, and you could see right in. They need to have 2 blinds, one to let light in and then a blackout. Not ideal.
After multiple emails with their event coordinator, my fiancee and I traveled over an hour today on our day off to tour the space and discuss our potential wedding plans. We arrived 10 minutes early, and asked the front desk receptionist at the hotel lobby where to meet Marjorie. They told us to walk across the street to the event space; this was locked and so we returned to the lobby. I asked the woman then to please reach out to Marjorie to let her know we were here. We were told to please take a seat and wait a few minutes. 10 minutes later, she relays to us that they are still trying to contact her. 10 minutes after this, I asked for them to call again. We were then told that Marjorie doesnt even do tours on site, contradicting my direct email correspondence. Regardless, management was actively struggling to get in touch with Marjorie, or even show us around and discuss planning a wedding at this location. Just then, a groom to be for a wedding the next day asked to see someone in management and to be let into the event space to drop off a few things. Someone let him in immediately and he was then on his way. After a half hour of waiting total, we let the receptionist know that we were leaving. This location wasted 3 hours of our lives, and no one from the Roundhouse has even reached out to us for the rest of the day to apologize or acknowledge this oversight. This complete lack of hospitality by the entire management company undercuts any confidence in their abilities to be responsible for professionally organizing and executing our wedding day. Will absolutely be looking elsewhere.
Only spent one night at this hotel. Opted for a room with a view and it did not disappoint! The view was incredible, falling asleep at night to the sound of a waterfall outside is a slice of heaven. Conveniently located, friendly staff. The bed was a very low to the ground, which made for slightly awkward entrances/exits as a tall person. Also, the mattress was pretty hard.. I’m aware that this is very subjective, but combined with the fact that the bar/restaurant was closed during my stay makes this a 4 star experience. I’ll be back someday and perhaps bump it up to 5 stars!
Stopped in for Easter Brunch....and on the third day, Jesus has risen....and he went straight to The Roundhouse for amazing food and cocktails! It would be a sin to skip over this wonderful place if you are passing through town. Dont be a Doubting Thomas, i speak the truth! Come break bread with friends and family at this truly special restaurant with amazing rolling river and waterfall views.
It was a beautiful summer day in Beacon and we were fortunate to be able to dine here. Great outdoor setting, the Service was prompt and attentive. The food and drinks were very good. Whenever we are back in the area we definitely plan to have dinner at The Roundthouse!
I m not a fan of leaving bad reviews but I have to share the experience I had today. The roundhouse restaurant has a fantastic view, everything charming on the outside . Granted the pandemic made things hard and we want to support restaurants and keeping an opened mind, you have to provide a little hospitality at the door and during the experience. Our server was very sweet, she made it better and was super accommodating. We ordered cocktails which unfortunately were mediocre, we ordered a bunch of appetizers which all were out of stock ( including deviled eggs) at 6.30pm…. Ok. Main courses were not very good. Steak au poivre … they sent chimichurri sauce instead, we asked for poivre several times, it s only a detail and the food runner said it was ... Please, at least give us what we ordered. When we left, we felt the manager was aggressive and unwelcoming . Will not go back. U are way better off in other places. This is upsetting because we wanted to love it .
HOTEL IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE! We stayed here multiple times in the past but our recent stay in May ‘22 was definitely a bad experience. It’s not anymore the luxury Hotel that it used to be. They say breakfast included and in the past that meant an amazing breakfast at their restaurant, but now breakfast is in a paper bag by your room door with just 2 muffins e 2 mini bagels (see pics), plus one yogurt and one orange juice already in your fridge in the room, for “Covid reason”.(even though their restaurant is now fully open, they have weddings, etc etc) Is this a luxury hotel breakfast? NO! On top of that, the rooms really need to be fixed, no updates for years, the floors now look like a cheap Motel floor (see pics). And all of this for $400+ a night?! No thank you.
We stayed at the Roundhouse in Beacon for a wedding and it was beautiful! I will say however, for the cost of the room (we stayed in a deluxe room with views of the waterfall) there were quite a few things lacking.Pros:- Beautiful views!- Overall clean linens and room- Free bagel and muffin was just the morning snack I needed to cure pre-wedding anxiety (I was a bridesmaid)Cons:- Dim lighting throughout hallways and room made it difficult to see or use the behind the door mirror after the sun set- Black tile in the shower made me question the cleanliness of the shower and overall continued the darkness- Shower only had a half glass wall which led to a draft of cold air the entire time showering and caused water all over the floor of the bathroom- Curtain pull mechanism seemed old and was extremely difficult to close and open either leaving us with no views, or spectators of the waterfall also viewing us getting changed! As for the wedding venue itself, it was gorgeous and a spectacular time. I believe it delivered on everything my sister (the bride) dreamed of, and that is a win in my book. For the restaurant, we ate there for the rehearsal dinner as well as for brunch the day after the wedding and both times I was impressed. For the rehearsal dinner I had the Bucatini pasta dish, and for brunch the Brioche French Toast Pain Perdu. I would recommend them both!I will note for Brunch, we really wanted to eat outside to enjoy the falls and fresh air. Ive been fairly covid conscious these past few years and the wedding was my first time at an indoor event and I wasnt ready to continue the indoor feasts right away. The tables outside were all 4-tops and the hostess was pretty rude continually stating that as a group of 7 we could only eat inside, even after suggesting we split up into 4 and 3. We repeated ourselves again and he finally gave in saying we could sit 4 and 3 but were not allowed to move the tables, which was fine. Halfway through our meal we noticed the same hostess moving tables around for another group. I will note the wait staff and food was amazing and maybe it was a rough morning but the hostess interaction was not pleasant.
My husband and I decided to come to the roundhouse beacon restaurant since we were staying at the roundhouse hotel for my birthday weekend. There were a total of 8 tables (counted twice by my husband and i) and not once did either of the managers, Shane or Gabriel had the decency of passing by our table. It was inevitably glaring to notice that they both visited every single table but ours, and even served the drinks of both tables adjacent to us. Not once, and I repeat, not once did either manager come to us. We waited 15 minutes for drinks while the tables adjacent to us, one of which entered the restaurant way after us, was served their drinks by a manager. Our waiter was trying her best, but the treatment by management was so glaring that they ruined my mood the entire dinner. Diana and Bridgette we’re so accommodating, but i was infuriated because the way we were ignored as the only black couple in the restaurant by management was truly disturbing. Honestly, if it wasn’t for my husband, I’d make a scene, but because it was my birthday, I opted for a review instead. The food was ok, but management has to definitely check their biases and racism at the door. I am so disgusted and will definitely retract any recommendations of the roundhouse i made to my friends and family. We have been at the restaurant since 7pm and it is 8:20pm and not a single table touch after every single one for the measly 8 tables in this restaurant were greeted by one of the two managers. But, lesson learned.
Me and my family came to the restaurant at around 3:30pm. We just wanted toStop by for a little while to grab someCocktails and possibly appetizers. The restaurant was half empty. Instead of allowing us to spend 1 hour (again, this was 3:30 - after lunch and before dinner) at a table that we liked with the waterfall view, , the gentleman who worked there forced us to leave the table and to sit at the bar under the sun.He said that we could not sit at the table without ordering lunch or dinner. We refused to sit at the bar because the tables were not appealing so we left .It’s also kind of funny considering that 2 cocktails and an appetizer often costs more than a salad and water. And we were 3 people - thats 6 cocktails that the restaurant lost money on.we will not return again because the staff was very rude and not accommodating .We will also make sure that our friends and family will avoid this place when they are visiting.
If it was possible to leave zero stars I would. GABRIEL. GABRIEL. GABRIEL. at the lounge was more than rude, disrespectful and condescending. I was in the middle of eating my dinner and he grabbed the plate from in front of me, not saying a word and threw the entire plate away. He needs a new career because the service industry is NOT for him. $700 down the drain because this ruined my entire experience.
Not sure if it was on off night, but we felt the restaurant relied too much on their ambiance because the food was served cold, flavors were ok, but a bit bland and it took over an hour to receive the food we ordered. We hope it improves because it has potential to be a great restaurant.
We visited Roundhouse Bar/Restaurant and really enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and cocktails - the crowd appeared diverse and the establishment was welcoming...the manager, Shayne B and the bartender, Freddy were very attentive and friendly - checking in on us and others throughout our visit. We will return in the near future!
Such a disappointment. This hotel is beautiful and the designer who handled the decor and overall style did a wonderful job. The day-to-day operations are seriously lacking and, unfortunately, affected our overall experience significantly. The personnel was rude on multiple occasions, the facilities werent open when they said they were going to be (bar and restaurant were closed beginning at 3:00 PM - if you wanted to sit on the patio you could, until it was torrentially raining and they needed to find immediate seating for 50 people in the dining room: chaos), the facility signage wasnt great and we had to cross the stream with suitcases multiple times to find our rooms, one room smelled like mold because they havent learned how to manage the maintenance of a shower that features exposed stone from the foundation (a beautiful detail, but one that traps water and has no ventilation). Breakfast was great and morning staff was lovely, but the rest of the experience was so terrible that I cant recommend it. We stayed here a few years ago and were looking forward to coming back, but wont be returning again.
I dont recommend their food because I found the hair in my plate isnt very clean. You pull up the picture you can see it I dont remain commended its always really not a very good clean place if they have that what else do they have going wrong there in such a big hurry?
We got married at the Roundhouse at the end of September 2021.The whole experience was amazing and our guests have been gushing about it ever since. We started planning with them in late Fall 2020 when the whole wedding world was very much in flux. As the situation improved we gradually upgraded our event from a smaller briefer cocktail hour to a full on affair. The folks at the roundhouse were courteous and helpful throughout the planning and lead up process. We needed to clarify a few points but nothing out of the ordinary and as pure (nervous) novices ourselves we asked for a lot of detail. We were AWED by the group tasting experience which really showed us how the Roundhouse can pull off incredible food and service at wedding scale. As we approached the date Amber was really helpful and worked with our wedding planner Elizabeth to make everything smooth and seamless. Our guests had an incredible time and raved about the main room, the food, the service, and the ambience. Truly truly the wedding of our dreams. Our ONLY notes are that the hotel itself was extra modern, with extremely low beds that proved a little challenging to our older guests. While were glad so many of our guests stayed on-property at the Roundhouse, given the pricing we did feel it was important a more economic alternative. The penthouse suite is absolutely spectacular, though for regular rooms its a bit pricey.Wed highly recommend having your event at the Roundhouse.Ryan and Alyssa
Genuinely disappointed with the hotel stay, which sucks, because I rarely dedicate the energy to leaving negative reviews. Things were initially great—we liked the room and the restaurant was above average for a “hotel restaurant”.But: we were kept up from 1:30AM - 4:00AM because the room next to us was partying and blasting music, and when we called to ask the hotel to help, they initially just blew us off. We’re pretty reasonable people—the odd hotel room party up until midnight is to be expected—but in a small-town hotel like this, for 2.5 hours early into the morning? C’mon. Took multiple calls to get them to help and it didn’t feel like they were taking us, or our stay, seriously. Not sure I’d recommend folks stay here given that.
First time at Roundhouse! This is a very cute spot right in downtown beacon. Sat outside on the patio with an amazing view of the waterfall. Got a peek at the inside dining room which I will certainly be coming back to experience. The food was A+: flavorful, fast, delicious. Portions were perfect. Drinks & wine were well selected. Staff was super nice and obviously love working here. Great spot!
I dream of staying here again!! My absolute favorite place to stay in Beacon! My husband and I had a wonderful 2 night stay here! We stayed in one of the Penthouse Suites with an amazing balcony overlooking the Falls! It had an incredible bathtub by the window, and the room was truly to die for. The breakfast in the morning was great and the views from the breakfast room are as incredible as the view in our room was. We also had a fantastic dinner at their restaurant! Roundhouse is walking distance to everything in Beacon which is nice, but we honestly never left other than to hike cause we didnt want to go anywhere else! Its dreamy! I will be going back here over and over as it was an amazing getaway from NYC!
Overall great experience at the Roundhouse! We stayed in the main building which was stunning- gorgeous room with chic furniture and design, amazing balcony, beautiful tub, and beautiful views. The design is contemporary and stylish. Loved our breakfast pastries brought up to our room. We had dinner in the dining room the night before- food was excellent. Both our steaks were cooked to perfection and so tasty. Had the oxtail tatertots for an app that were Devine. Lovely during the fall. Would recommend to anyone and hope to be so lucky to attend a wedding here one days
Summary: Check out the view and grab a glass of wine, then walk to somewhere else on Main Street for dinner. Dont eat here.Full story: I went to Beacon with the family on a beautiful fall day. After seeing the waterfall, we were enticed by the view and ambiance Roundhouse had to offer. Unfortunately, the food and service were awful. Nothing on the menu was as described. Better quality and attention to detail could easily be found at a food hall or diner. To top off the terrible meal, our server spilled maple syrup all over the table and was generally more concerned with talking to his coworkers than us.Take Home: If you like paying for terrible food and sub-par service, this is the place for you! Two stars for the view and wine.
Didnt make a reservation and did a walk in 10 minutes after they opened on a Saturday. Were seated right away and had a nice view of the waterfall. The foods were good and service was great. Food didnt take too long to come. Glad we stopped by here before heading back to the city!
So Hotels.com were a little late sending my reservation over but the receptionist could not have been nicer. The hotel is awesome, room was gorgeous and bright, airy and clean. Ideal location...took a stroll down Main St, plenty of places to eat. Really pleased with my decision to give it a shot. Great price, location and ambience. Definitely recommend.
The penthouse is AMAZING! What a perfect example of modern romance. Getting married, engaged, anniversary or just a romantic special occasion? This is it! From the picturesque windows to the round soaking tub at the foot of the bed, the balcony overlooking the waterfall with ample room to sit, relax or have a meal or just your morning cup of coffee. In the evening the waterfall is lit up and it is breathtaking from your window or balcony. The rushing water is the perfect white noise to sleep to. In addition, the customer service was remarkable. We were staying for two nights for our elopement and they answered my emails full of questions for months before our stay and we’re beyond helpful, sweet and really went above and beyond.
My partner and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner the other night. I was a bit hesitant after seeing so many negative reviews, but the gripes seemed primarily with the service, and we were going purely for the ambiance, so we decided beforehand that we wouldn’t be upset if the service wasn’t 100%. WELL, our worries were in vain because the service was exceptional.I had made a reservation for us many weeks in advance for the inside dining room, bought a new dress for the occasion and was very excited. We would be spending the night in the hotel and having dinner that evening. We were disappointed when we arrived to learn that there was an event that evening so we would have to dine on the outdoor patio, which is probably the more desirable for the views, but we could’ve gone in shorts for that and we were looking to do something a bit more upscale. The manager, Jay, was very apologetic and did everything he could to still make the evening memorable for us. We decided to wait at the bar until a table was available right by the overlook to the waterfall. Our drinks and appetizers were comped while we waited. (Much to our surprise since we thought we were only being gifted a couple of drinks.) Once a table was available, we were shown to our table where our warm and enthusiastic server, Kai, patiently took pictures for us and wished us warm wished for our anniversary.Truly, the entire experience was probably even better than if we had sat inside in the main dining room. I wish I had gotten everyone’s names. From the sweet hostess, to our very friendly and accommodating bartender, our server, Kai, and manager, Jay, thank your from the bottom of our hearts. You gave us a wonderful anniversary dinner and had us smiling the entire evening. Oh, and the food was great too! We had everything! Our favorites were the cheese plate, octopus and fish and chips (to die for!) I look forward to spending many more happy occasions at The Roundhouse.
My husband & I, along with 2 friends made dinner reservations for dinner last Saturday evening. My friend made the reservation and was not told the Covid policy. Upon arrival we were asked to present proof of vaccine, which we all had, but then we were asked for ID on top of that, ridiculous! 3 out of the four of us had ID but my friend didn’t bring her wallet ( she didn’t drive). The host called over the manager and he said there was nothing he could do! I call bullshxxxt! We are locals, are in our sixties, own businesses in town and he thought we had fake vaccination cards! Really! We were all taken aback and he just sarcastically said “have a great night” and you know what, we actually did at Amacord! Never eating at Roundhouse again!
Me and my partner were looking for a nice restaurant on our way from Catskills back to the city. Roundhouse came up on infatuation website with some good reviews. Gnocchi and gazpacho were good, baked clams were hard to chew.. I’ve asked for a cocktail that’s not on the menu and it didn’t taste right at all. But the worst part was the waiting. I’m pretty sure most of the clients were sitting outside and when we arrived there were only three tables taken. We’ve waited about 30 minutes or longer to get our appetizers which they brought together with the main course. Not sure how long we’d have to wait if they’d bring those separate. I guess if you have extra time and not hungry and just looking to chill by the water this might be a spot for you. But honestly I don’t think it’s worth it. Fine dining means also serving food on time. They also charged us for bread, which they actually said they don’t usually serve.
Place has amazing potential, staff is very pleasant however very miss managed.Started our night ordering a snack (server didn’t seem to know much about the menu did mention it was his first week) and drinks, drinks took a very long time but it happens. After we ordered appetizers and mains, the apps dropped and we haven’t finished the snacks and no clean plates where dropped. We asked the server to please slow down the main course because we were in no rush and came here to enjoy our night and the atmosphere. Still the mains came out BEFORE we finished our appetizers. It seemed like the server was handling way too many tables at once, the only pleasant experience we had was with our server assistant who brought us tea.The manager/owner walked around without knowing what was happening in the dining room, leaving the kitchen with his mouth full of food.
AMAZING View, very fancy interior as well and worth it alone just for the photos. My only complaint was that my family and I often asked the staff for things like condiments, napkins, etc. but they either took super long to get back to us or just didnt, such that we ended up having to ask several times! Maybe its only because Independence Day weekend made it so packed, but Im still satisfied.Their signature Roundhouse burgers are really good, food is mostly American stuff but theres plenty of other more diverse options like an Indonesian rice dish!Great experience overall, would absolutely come back! (Maybe at night time, since I went there during sunset so I didnt get a chance to see how pretty the place must look with its little outdoor patio Christmas-style lights overhead)
Just simply AWESOME!! From the outdoor ambiance and picturesque views to the incredible food and service. We went for brunch and I had the best French Toast Ive ever had! Run, dont walk to this hidden gem in the Hudson Valley. Youll not be disappointed no matter how high your expectations!!
Absolutely loved our stay here! Have been coming to the restaurant for a while but finally stayed at the hotel and it did not disappoint. Our room was beautiful, the bed was super comfy, and the view of the river was enchanting. Everyone we interacted with was super helpful and friendly. Smoke on The Water was delicious too - my salmon was perfectly done. Having breakfast items in the fridge and baked goods delivered in the morning was a great touch. Cannot say enough positive things. Thank you Roundhouse for a wonderful weekend!
We had a late Friday night dinner at the Round House restaurant. Even at night, the view of the water was spectacular. The menu was seasonal but not in a way that hit you over the head with pumpkin spice. Instead, it offered late summer corn and stone fruit, winter squash and apples. The cocktail menu was lovely - lots of NY spirits. I recommend the apple old fashioned - again, decidely autumn but not overly spiced. The pork belly steamed buns are a must - as is the blackened seafood sausage.
Oh to be able to spend another night at The Roundhouse. Its such a magical spot. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, you are continuously impressed. Not just by the incredible and enchanting atmosphere that Beacon provides, but the accommodating staff that makes this incredible spot run. We had our wedding at The Roundhouse and honestly couldnt imagine doing it anywhere else - even years later. We STILL hear people rave about the space, the food, and the people. We look forward to hopefully being able to celebrate again there...soon!
Went to The Roundhouse for a bite to eat around 6 oclock, and naturally on a Friday evening it was busy so we were informed it might be about an hour wait (we went to the patio specifically for the waterfront view). No biggie we just walked around town and got a call about 40 minutes later that we can be seated. We ordered a few drinks which were all delicious and the Burrata as an app which was pleasant as well. I had The Roundhouse burger which was perfect, friend had the surf and turf which he enjoyed quite a lot (tried myself, the lobster was nice and sweet) and my other friend had the mac and cheese which in summary he wouldnt stop talking about. We finished with the 7 layer cake and a creme brulee which, lets be honest probably doesnt need a review, but they were great. We stayed long enough that it turned to night and the patio lights were turned on, the ambience was nice and relaxing the whole time. We plan to visit again to dine inside next as we live a few minutes away!
Stayed 2 nights in 2 rooms due to availability. Rooms with view of river are very cool. Hear the rushing water all night is terrific. Beds are basically on the floor, not sure why they chose such a low frame but weird for such a high end hotel. Carpet in first room was disgusting. Filthy and burnt iron mark right in front hallway. It’s very expensive for what you get. I would book the restaurant and stay somewhere else. Patio is delightful for a drink and snacks in afternoon.
I feel bad having to give a poor review after the year the restaurant and hospitality industry has had but this venue failed on every step. First, we walked into a very nice lobby area. There were people milling about but no staff anywhere to be seen. After 10 minutes, I went looking for someone to no avail. After about 20 minutes, I encountered a woman and tried to sympathize with her plight but she was rather short with me. She then proceeded to take two families that had the same number of people but came in after us to their tables. She said she would be back to get us. A few minutes later, a different woman came up and I told her the other woman said we would be next. Another man in a party of 7 then told her he had been there for an hour. She seated them next. We were then asked to wait by the stairs and were seated a couple of minutes later. After about 15 minutes, the waitress came to take our order. We placed our order and she brought us our water and drinks. Next, we received our appetizers. My wifes yogurt parfait was very bland. The vinaigrette on my salad was very strong. My kids each had a fruit plate that were pretty good. After waiting about a 1/2 hour, we realized we had not received our bread/pastry basket. We asked for it and received it a few minutes later. The pastries (banana bread, blueberry scones, cranberry muffins and croissants) were good. It was about 15 minutes later that we received our entrees. The portions were small. About a 4 oz medallion. My wife did not like the gravy so she only ate a couple of bites. By this time we had to leave to get my son to work so we had to take the dessert to go. I am including a picture of the 7 Layer Cake we were given. All-in-all, a bust. I know they were short staffed and we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but it was a huge letdown for $45/person. The only saving grace was our waitress did what she could and was very apologetic.
I came in with low expectations after reading other reviews, and I have to say… I’m pleasantly surprised! Service was a little slow, but everyone was very friendly and we got our food relatively quickly. The pernil hash and the lobster roll were both excellent. I wasn’t blown away by the Bloody Mary but it wasn’t bad. The view is reason enough to come here. I’ll definitely be back. One note for the restaurant- I’m surprised to see you’re still sticking plastic straws in every drink! I’d think being in Beacon you would have caught up with more sustainable practices. Look into it!
We had lunch on the outdoor patio recently, overlooking the falls, very nice setting. The menu selection was good, with lobster rolls, chicken-rice bowls, and some good craft beers. The only thing I didnt like was the chicken-rice bowl, tasty, but more of an appetizer, there was mostly rice, with very little chicken, and not worth the cost. I would have gotten the lobster roll, which was the same price.
We requested an ADA accessible room because my wife is wheelchair-bound. Entered the room and was met by a plastic chair and a table consisting of 4 metal legs and a Formica-like table top. The king-size bed was on a platform that was at best 18” off the floor. Ridiculous for a disabled person to get to. On both sides of the bed there was a night-stand. The night-stand on the right side of the bed blocked the entrance into the large ADA modified bathroom. I moved the nightstand into the bathroom. However, the aisle way between the bed and wall where the bathroom entrance was was not wide enough to permit a wheelchair to turn into the bathroom. Hence the bathroom itself was not ADA accessible. Since we were in Beacon mid-week, when the tourist crowd is low, the Roundhouse restaurant was not open. Received two bagels and two muffins in a brown bag in the morning by the door which was described as the continental breakfast. The mounted TV was small and of poor sound quality. Overall a disappointing stay for us. With the sparse furnishings, lack of accessibility and no in-house restaurant it was certainly not worth the $269 with tax over $300 that we spent for one night. We checked out after one night of what we wanted was a 2 night stay. If you need an ADA room absolutely do not stay at the Roundhouse. Even if we could get into the bathroom, the bed itself was not accommodating. The value of room and furnishings are not worth the price charged.
Rating in the restaurant as have never stayed at the hotel. It was my first time here and even though it was on the brisk side, the heat lamps and provided blankets made it cozy. Great view and HAPPY THEY CHECKED VACCINATION CARDS even though we were outside.I would give the food 5 stars ⭐️ and the service four ⭐️. Didn’t seem like they had enough servers for the patio perhaps? Our initial waiter was very friendly & recognized my folks who live locally and had had him as their server over the summer. We found out later that mid device they moved him to TNR inside dining room so I am wondering if that’s what the service went downhill?!My appetizer salad was brought with everyone’s entree (I was the only one who had ordered an appetizer). I confirmed with the initial waiter that they had not forgotten my scallop entree. Towards the end of everyone else finishing their lunches I asked the woman who I believe was the manager again about the scallops - she went to check and it seems they had been forgotten. It wasn’t a big deal Bc I filled up on everyone else’s lunch who had happy to share (the risotto was amazing FYI). I told them not to worry about the scallops. She was very gracious & treated us to several desserts on the house. My dad had to ask three different people for a coffee refill & when they brought us the check they had left the scallops on it - I am sure it was an oversight but it’s this sort of thing that separates 4 & 5 stars restaurants in my eyes.Food:- yummy Bloody Mary which I asked for spicy 🌶 solid vodka for well & only $12 (I lIve Manhattan so that’s a steal!)- arugula salad was good. Would have loved more of the candied walnuts!- risotto was 10/10 loved that it could be made vegan! They use avocado butter which added a super nice flavor!- my dad had steak & eggs and was pleased (I think they just use bacon fat or ham hock in the potatoes?) Steak was cooked as asked for.- all three deserts we had were soooo yummy!!! The apple & crime brûlée were my favorites! Can’t wait to come back in warmer weather at night when they have their string lights on!Also, if you haven’t been, Beacon Is a cute town with a very cute Main Street filled with all sorts of boutiques: all walking distance from the restaurant.Note: if you are taking the train it’s an Uber ride to town. It’s not like Cold Spring where the train stops in town. It’s a fun weekend activity especially if you live in the city!
We visited the roundhouse hotel on 10-12/8 we will start on the positive side, the hotel is in a lovely location with a spectacular view of waterfalls. That ends the good side, the place is supposedly rated as a 4-star hotel -the woman sitting in the reception cold like the air conditioners they run all day in freezing cold no matter what the temperature outside, and the air conditioners are old and make a lot of noise same thing in the room. The carpet is full of stains and smells very bad, and the curtain is torn. The color of the wall in the bathroom is peeling.Unfortunately this is not the level of a 4 star hotel, this hotel might be called a hostel and not a 4 star hotel.
The place is great. Ambience, service, menu, waterfall views, drinks - everything. Food is drool worthy. Exactly everything one expects from a restaurant of this level. We were so caught up in the whole experience that we only realized much later that we needed to take some pics..ha haTheir Gnocchis are a must try but then so is everything else.
1st time coming to The roundhouse restaurant and I have to say the service did not meet my expectations at all. The food was great but the service was not the same service I received at Smoke on the water. Not once but 3 times was the wrong food brought to our table. Serving Staff seemed very unorganized and showed lack of training. When I finished my drink, my glass was removed without being offered another. Had to ask for the check twice. I do have to mention that the host was excellent when we 1st arrived. As a frequent restaurant visitor I have been to many establishments and have to say , today was a bit of a disappointment.
Update- went back last night and the cocktails we ordered were bad(don’t get the whimsical dream). The filet mignon was over cooked for one of us which was disappointing because it’s pricey! The créeme brûlée was incredible as always. Our server was absolutely wonderful and very attentive. It does seem like they might be understaffed, and if that’s the case I think they should limit the amount of guests they’re allowing in to not overwhelm their staff and dampen the quality of their food and drinks. Last night was absolutely packed inside and outside and I was concerned for the servers outside working sooooo hard in 90 something degree heat.My partner and I have enjoyed two meals here. The views of the waterfall are lovely and the food is delicious and decently priced for a somewhat upscale place. The hosts and servers were great; however, when we originally came here for dinner the first time we ended up deciding to leave due to the impatience and rudeness of the manager that night.
One of the most popular restaurants in Beacon and definitely the most high end in terms of food quality and atmosphere. Great outdoor seating area with views of the waterfall that lights up in the evening. The lobster rolls are extremely generous with lobster meat and the cocktails are creative and certainly boozy.
Booked our anniversary getaway for one night at the round house and made reservations for dinner at the restaurant as well. Hotel and staff were very polite and welcoming. I would’ve given a 5 star rating but before checking in we asked the hostess if it was possible to have a seating by the window with the view of the waterfall, she said she would do her best. When it came time for dinner, unfortunately there was no seating at that area available.. but as we were ordering drinks we saw a couple checking out and asked our server if we could switch tables she said she would ask her manager, the manager comes over and gave us a whole run around of why we couldn’t sit there because they would have to re sanitize our table and that if people saw us switching tables everyone would want to as well? Which came off very rude and made no sense to me.. We were celebrating our anniversary together so it was big turn off to us that he couldn’t accommodate us. AND continued to sit other guest where we wanted to sit right in front of us. Appetizers were great, entrees were a bit heavy on the salt. But overall, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel.
Poor service and well below average food and drinks. That place has all to succeed, location, view, architecture and a large pool of employees. However drinks are so so, service is extremely slow and imperfect, you have to ask a few times and that is despite the fact that several staff members are not doing much. Food tastes like it’s coming from an industrial kitchen for “restaurants”. Restaurant needs a serious look so that a new manager / chef can take over. Totally unimpressed and this is a loss opportunity. Seems to me that they only rely on dreamy location, but that tend to not last.
Went with a party of 7 for a 30th birthday dinner and everyone loved there food. There was one minor issue with one of our guest but the manager was quick to resolve it. Loved the view of the waterfall especially at night as it is lit up. The ambience of the restaurant was perfect for us with really good service.
On one of the hottest days of the year the inside temperature was barely better then the heat and humidity outside. When I asked and then followed up with the server I was told they will not turn it down. Temperature aside the apps were good, the tuna tartar was my choice. My main was the ribeye, a dry chewy piece of flavorless meat. I asked for no sauce since a good steak doesnt need any. It was so hot we skipped dessert. Not impressed at all with this place.
Super cool/chic hotel in one of the most beautiful locations in NY state (possibly in the USA).The hotel hugs a magnificent waterfall which turns into a rushing creek, and has a restaurant with a breathtaking view of the action that unfolds below you. There is also a patio attached to the restaurant which is a cheaper option but has an even better view of the waterfall (so close that you might feel some of the water spray on you) and has the awesome sound of the water rushing and crashing by.I rate it 4 stars because for the price of staying here I expected to have a few more amenities - no ice machine, shower handle in my room needed some WD40/lubrication, nowhere to get water for a drink (youre given two complimentary Saratoga Springs water bottles but thats not enough) and no gym.I stayed in a standard King room (312) which had a beautiful view from its two big windows facing downtown Beacon.Complimentary continental breakfast was served at 8am which included two bialy mini bagels, two muffins, and staff leaves two 8oz orange juice bottles and two La Fermière yogurts in your mini fridge before you arrive.Mini fridge is well stocked with mini bottles of hard alcohol which are $7 each (top shelf bottles of rum, gin, tequila, whiskey and vodka) some mixers and two more water bottles ($4 each)Other than that, it was a wonderful stay and I definitely recommend experiencing this hotel. I will definitely be back to try the restaurant/patio (Restaurant is CLOSED on Tues/Weds)Also want to give a shout out to Sarah the front desk receptionist for going out of her way to get me some ice from the restaurant before I left. Great customer service!Pro tip: DIA museum is closed on Tues/Weds and so are about 75% of businesses in Beacon, so plan your trip accordingly
Really good. Never been there before. My husband and I dropped in for brunch. The food was delicious. I had the burger, my husband had the lobster mac n cheese and they were totally worth it. The wait was long we did have to wait an hour but they took our number and we walked to another bar and chilled there while we waited to eat.
We had dinner at the restaurant, which is a glorified greasy spoon. I guess the business model is to attract tourists because of the stunningly beautiful setting, next to a rushing rapid and a beautiful waterfall — and then serve low end meals cooked by unskilled staff. Don’t go there unless you just want alcohol.
Excellent hotel with polite staff. We stayed in the double-queen room and it was beautiful. The location is excellent, the room was clean, and the restaurants nearby (including those owned by the hotel) were excellent. Even with COVID restrictions limiting what hotels can do with breakfast/food service, they left a nice 2-person breakfast kit in the fridge, with NY yogurts, natural orange juices (individual), and then in the morning dropped off muffins and mini-bagels in a bag by our door. Overall I was very pleased with the room, grounds and staff and would absolutely recommend it to others (and stay again!). Thanks for a great experience.
You’d be hard pressed to find a place like this 1.5 hours outside of the city in NY. What a fantastic hotel. Clean, modern, historical and great value. We stayed for three nights and found it fantastic. Free breakfast dropped off at the room/in the fridge every morning. Two restaurants on site that largely exceed the offerings in the area and a variety of room types. Larger more opulent rooms in the “roundhouse” building and nicely appointed rooms in the “mill” building. Great hotel to get away for a few days especially if you don’t like to search for a place to eat. Barry the food/restaurant manager was extremely hospitable and made sure we were satisfied at both restaurants. I will be back!
My husband and I have eaten at the Roundhouse Restaurant a few times and had good experiences, so we decided to give the hotel a try. BIG MISTAKE. We booked one of the suites, which we found out on arrival is on the Lower Level. We noticed a HUGE centipede on the wall. Immediately, I called the front desk to explain what we saw. There was no apology or an offer to change rooms from the concierge. An employee from maintenance came down a few minutes later, sprayed the centipede with Raid, stomped on it, picked it up, and proceeded to walk out of the room without saying a word. My husband and I refused to stay in the room so we called the front desk and asked to switch. The room we were transferred to was smaller, but at that point we didnt care. When we pulled back the sheets, there were a few strands of long brunette hair on the bed. It wasnt mine or my husbands because we both have short, black hair. We didnt want to make another fuss so we brushed it off. The TV only had one channel available. The next morning, we noticed there was another centipede on the wall. We immediately packed up our things and went to check out. The concierge asked how our stay was and I expressed it wasnt great. Again, no apology, she just proceeded to tell us the price of our stay. This place is a sorry excuse for a 4 star hotel and has poor hospitality. The overview says industrial chic but I think thats a generous description. We were really looking forward to a weekend in Beacon, NY, but our hotel stay definitely got us off on the wrong foot.
We got there early on a Saturday evening so we could sit outside on the patio and enjoy the view of the falls. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was so good! We started with the burrata and the pretzel sticks, we would order both again. We also had the steak frittes, the spicy lobster mac n cheese which was absolutely amazing, and the special of the weekend which was the 40oz Tomahawk Ribeye. The ribeye was so good the sides that came with it were also good. Looking forward to going back for brunch!
The outside deck patio is a beautiful place for a drink or meal. The waterfall is lit up at night and makes for a beautiful backdrop. We had Nan bread, Octopus, branzino and a chicken rice bowl. The Nan bread was actually pita bread (disappointing) the Octopus was delicious as were the other dishes we had. My only gripe is how expensive it is. Pita bread was $12, Octopus app was $20 and a bowl of rice with a little chicken and other stuff was $24! The servings are small which is fine but either give more for the price or charge less for the amount of food. I do have empathy for what the restaurant biz endured during the pandemic, and Im sure the location of this restaurant, given the natural beauty surrounding it cant be cheap to run. However, price wise it seems a little out of whack with other restaurants. That being said Id likely go again.
Its Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, so we decided to take advantage and finally have dinner here. We had walked by a thousand times, but never gone, so, why not?The restaurant itself is modern and intimate. We were fortunate enough to be seated by the windows where we had cleat views of the waterfalls. I think our experience would have been even less thrilling had we not been seated so well. Our server was friendly, but we were served by multiple people over 3 courses which made things confusing. Like, the woman who brought my bisque forgot a spoon and said shed being one, but then disappeared. Eventually we saw our original server and I was able to get a spoon. They moved our dinner pretty quickly. The food was very good, but it felt rushed. Maybe because it was restaurant week?Overall, it was just okay. Felt more like a place Id go for a business dinner.
Beautiful spot for a birthday getaway out of the city. We appreciated that their protocols for COVID were thorough and made our stay that much more comfortable. We had drinks and food at the patio and while we had great service (and delicious food) both times, it was a little odd that when it was raining, they offered dining inside as an option, despite their website saying this is not currently allowed. We weren’t comfortable with dining inside and waited it out, which worked out fine.Baked goods were delivered (contact-free) to our room each morning and other breakfast items were already provided in the fridge.Enjoyed our stay in the room, but the shower has very low water pressure and no door (gets chilly) so this leaves a bit to be desired.
I was initially disappointed with my room when I arrived for a one night stay, however they went above and beyond to accommodate me and gave me a different room in the Roundhouse. Ended up being a wonderful and relaxing stay and I look forward to returning. Was going to leave the hotel for dinner, but the Roundhouse restaurant looked so welcoming with the fireplace and views of the water, I decided to eat there. Great choice!! The food was delicious and service was great. Will definitely be back!!
One of my favorite hotels! Great location within easy walking distance to town, situated across from beautiful Fishkill Creek. Great food and drinks, great views, and understated minimalist decor in the guest rooms. This is the kind of hotel thats cool without trying. Spring for a room in the Roundhouse building for prime views of the falls (they light up at night!). Additionally, I recommend a reservation for the restaurant as it can be quite busy on weekends and at peak times. The menus are constantly changing with the seasons so theres always something new to try.
Not sure where how the rest of the folks who’ve stayed here arrived at these ratings. But we’re 60+ Yrs old and are rarely if ever disappointed like this. They provide all rooms portable heaters to stay warm. Super industrial layouts with very little in terms of comfort. We got into a dispute at the restaurant with what was presented as a 24oz steak that was more like a Denny’s special. I can go on but I don’t see the sense, there’s plenty of choices that will make far more sense and lean to great memories.they try to leverage the whole waterfall experience as justification of a Shawshank redemption do over. Stay away.
Ate outside here for lunch a few weeks ago and it was lovely with excellent food made with fresh, high-quality products. Dessert was substantial. Lol. Excellent views, and luckily our umbrella kept us out of the sun. The cocktails definitely run on the sweet side (mine was too sweet for me), so note that if you like a more bitter or sour taste. We didn’t stay at the hotel, but we noticed the indoor dining room and hotel common areas were frigid, so I wouldn’t be inclined to stay here during warm weather or eat indoors during warm weather when they’d have the AC blasting.
Positives: Room was lovely, staff was friendly, food was fabulous.Negatives : Bed was not super comfortable, felt like a futon mattress. No microwave in the hotel, wanted to warm up some leftovers , called the front desk to ask where it was and was told the hotel didn’t have one.Would also suggest putting a handle inside the bathroom sliding door.
Beautiful restaurant with outdoor seating. Friendly staff. Gorgeous scenic views. Im not giving this 5 stars bc the kitchen and bar took forever with everything we ordered. I felt bad for the waitress - she kept apologizing. And it wasnt even a busy night. The prices were ridiculous too. Food was delicious but some appetizers were WAY too small for the price. Most entrees were decent sized but some the prices were unnecessary. Everything including our drinks were delicious.
My partner and I stopped at The Roundhouse Restaurant for dinner this weekend. The first interaction with the hostesses should have been our indication to go elsewhere. Before sitting us she said she could sit us but that ”you need to get out in 50 minutes” even if there were reservations, there were so many different ways she could have conveyed the same message. Some tables did fill up as we headed out but she still had plenty of tables. The interaction really made us feel unwelcomed and set off the wrong tone for the evening. The food and drink were just ok - possibly because by that point we didnt want to be there anymore. The Ramen or the fluke were not memorable or something I would go back for. Our server however, was a delight. She was attentive and warm and took great care of us.
The hotel is nice, appreciate what theyre trying to do but overall a bit over priced for what it is. During covid its tough sorting out the best way to adapt, but the continental breakfast was very disappointing. Only consisted of two of the same flavor muffins in a brown paper bag dropped at your door in the AM and yogurt in the fridge. The restaurant was the real disappointment. Booked a rsvp over a month in advance for my wedding anniversary. A week beforehand they cancelled it because someone booked out the entire restaurant last minute. Kept trying to call back and reschedule at the new restaurant they opened with no returned calls after leaving messages etc. Finally called the front desk and told them the situation. They said we would be well taken care of at the new steakhouse and also implied wed be given the hookup for our troubles. Dined at the steakhouse no such hookup just a normal night like everyone - no complimentary appetizers etc. Food was okay. Staff was nice. Dont count on making any nice plans here, even with well planning they will throw a wrench in the works with no way to make it up to you.
Hotel looks nice from the outside. The town has a calm quiet feel. The room has some nice amenities such as a safe, fridge with a minibar, a keurig and a tv.The ac worked well but there was black mold in the ac vent room 202. The front desk did not have a solution other than to say that it would be fixed once we checked out. They didnt seem concerned strangely. Overall not the best experience for the price.
We did not stay at the hotel proper, but had dinner outside by the waterfall during their pop-up BBQ event called Smoke on the Water. Food was very good and affordable and the view was phenomenal. My only recommendation is to bring bug spray if you are going to sit outside, as you are very close to trees and water.
This is the second time we stayed at the Roundhouse hotel and we liked being of them. It is a challenge for a business to provide good service during the Covid-19 pandemic and the Roundhouse masters it! A very friendly staff is always available for help and advice. The rooms are wonderful, the first one was very large while the second one had a beautiful view of the waterfall. The room interiors, with their large windows, ceiling beams, and exposed brick walls are very pleasing. Furthermore, the close proximity to the towns center (Main Street) makes it easy to getting around on foot and as such avoiding the search for a parking space, which at some times can be a serious hassle.
Great outdoor bar....Not the best experience this time around.Went in for a late lunch and some drinks with my girlfriend on Sunday afternoon. As soon as we arrived the lady taking reservations outside for seating was kind of rude telling us that we needed to stand 6 ft apart...we came together and pretty much live together so Im not sure why that was relevant to us. About 2 minutes later another guy came over and gave a 3 minute lecture about sitting outside and that once we where seated we could not be moved...OK, whatever! We sit down and order drinks which honestly where very good! We order an appetizer and it was ok so we ordered another drink and thought about dinner...while we waited for some friends. After a few minutes the same people that gave us a hard time about standing 6 feet apart and not being able to move our seats are literally making every exception in the world to move the people sitting next to us that where really rude. After they moved them and paid for there appetizer, about 10 minutes later the guy that gives the seating speech goes and pays for the entire meal!My issue is that if your going to make people feel uncomfortable and unwelcome within 5 minutes of them arriving by barking out the 6 ft rule to a couple and then giving them a speech about seating dont go and do the opposite when someone else complains and comp an entire meal!If you are going to go to the extreme of comping an entire meal do it quietly so that the other patrons arent aware.Ended up leaving and meeting 2 other couples that where supposed to meet us somewhere else and had a great dinner with great drinks.
Saturday, July 18, 2020 was my first time to The Roundhouse restaurant in Beacon, NY. The service was PHENOMENAL! The food was beyond delicious, and the decor was lovely. The prices are very reasonable, too. Although I had a light dinner, it was super delicious, and my friend and I enjoyed looking at the waterfalls so close by. I look forward to returning, as soon as I can. I was a very happy first-timer turned into long-timer.
Very good food and service with views of the waterfall. Would have given a five but my wifes chicken sandwich wasnt cooked all the way and it took a long time for them to make another one. The waiter was very good and they did comp the sandwich and gave us some free wine. Overall a good experience and will definitely go back.
We ate at the Patio Restaurant, outdoors. The waterfall is lovely The tables were placed well, but why didnt all the tables have umbrellas? When my friend and I arrived, our 3rd party was already sitting at a table without an umbrella and when we asked to change to another table we were told that it was not allowed --- so, one of us had to keep moving so as not to be blinded by the sun.The food was good and both the Negroni and Sangria drinks were excellent. However, the service was sub-par. Our water glasses were never refilled until we asked and then we still had to remind the staff. One of us asked to have our cappuccino replaced because it was bitter and undrinkable. We did not get it till we were done with dessert and ready to leave. During the time we were there we were assigned three different servers, who rarely came around, because they went on break. That just added to the sloppiness of the service....we became the table that fell through the cracks. Not an experience I care to repeat.
To be fair, this place looked beautiful. We just had the worst service imaginable. The host was rude (almost mean?) when I made my reservation with a two hour wait. He made me feel stupid for asking basic questions and when we returned for our table after all that time was still sarcastic and cold. Tried to seat us in a hallway with high traffic before we just gave up and got tacos down the street. Not the night we imagined, but you just have to roll with it sometimes. No reservations were allowed, so good luck to whoever tries to go here.
Very nice location in Beacon with a waterfall view. The food is extremely good, reasonably priced and the service is excellent. They just have to improve the unmovable patio umbrellas so that they can adapt to the summer suns movement over the outside seating area. Other than that, no issues.
We were there for a wedding which started very nice at 5.30pm. The grounds, waterfall and parking were great. The appetizer selection was amazing and the liquor was flowing. The reception area was magnificent, exposed beams, barn doors, what a sight! We had a limited choice set menu of salad, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. Orders were taken and salad arrived at a reasonable time, great bread already at the table. Things bogged down when it came to the entree we waited an hour after it was announced that serving would start soon. All but one person at our table ordered the rib eye but everyone felt it was not a good cut and very fatty, this was not bone-in. Twiced baked potato, asparagus, onion rings were great. So in all 7.30 to 8.45 to get entree , by 9.45 no desert or coffee. Thank God for the bar which rocked all night.
The restaurant is Beautiful and the water view from almost ever table is what one wants when dining at establishmentlike this. However the food is a different story. We ordered the tuna tartar and pan cooked octopus as appetizers.Tuna for the price should not be b-c grade for tartar, color of being pink was sign of lower grade and the texture was not that inviting to want more..Octopus had no flavor other than what accompanied it on the dish, being cooked earlier and finished cooking when ordered can notice significant differences, thats real bummer!Had the Tomahawk Steak special, ordered it medium and came out mostly raw. Server Tye was preoccupied, not even to ask ONCE how our dinner was or if we needed anything. We did not complain and feel if this is high end eating they should train ALL THEIR STAFF to be engaged with all their customers. So, we wouldnt revist or recommend eating here again, not worth the$$$
Another successful Valentine’s dinner thanks to the Roundhouse! Courses were paced to perfect which avoided over stuffing and made my meal and date even more enjoyable. Thank you to our server Ryan for setting that pace and going above and beyond for us. And also thank you to the bar tending Annie for making more than exceptional drinks that paired well with each course.
I attended a wedding last Sunday. After the ceremony, guests had drinks on the second level while waiting for the tables to be prepared downstairs. I have a digestive condition that doesnt allow me to drink alcohol but requires me to drink water frequently. I had to ask for water three times, while the waitress was serving alcoholic drinks to everybody around. After a two hour drive and a 30 min ceremony, I really needed water, just water. It was my friends who stopped her after the third time, and all she said dismissively was, there will be water on the tables downstairs. I didnt want to create a scene at my friends wedding, so I let it go, but that answer was shocking. All I wanted was water. I went to the bathroom and drank from the tap, not exactly what you expect to do at a wedding venue.
We stayed in the Roundhouse in a room with a view and the room was gorgeous. The design was great and the falls are so pretty. The management also went above and beyond for us. When our car broke down on the way to our wedding ceremony, they called our rental company and sorted out repairs. For any couple looking at them as a wedding venue, I would feel confident knowing that they will go out of their way to make things smooth for you!
The restaurant is a cool spot. We sat on the patio and while we were greeted quickly, a server never came and I had to get up and go to the bar to order drinks. I will make note that while we loved our (expensive) margarita’s, the bartender was sweating and combing his hair back with his hands as it was long and in his face. Not exactly kosher to keep doing that and making drinks. Even though it was a hot day, still not something you want to see. And yet we were still intrigued by the spot and asked to speak to the manager/event coordinator regarding info for a bridal shower. She was inside and the waiter came back and told us that she said to go to the website or email them. Strange way to service a possible client who’s there physically. We went inside to use the bathroom and she very visibly walked away when she saw us walk in. At that point she lost a customer and a good sale. We’re hosting a bridal shower of 50 people. I then came to find out my cousin actually reached out two times for wedding info to that same email the waiter was instructed to give us and NO ONE EVER RESPONDED. Any insight into why the event coordinator/manager didn’t want to speak to us in person and why the email they claim to use for event info isn’t responsive? Or are they just “selective?” Makes you wonder.
The Roundhouse is suppose to have it all.. They have the best spot in town. Great view over the fall, but sadly, the food and service falls short. I can only describe the food as average, but a bit pricey for what you are paying for. If you are charging a certain price, it better be something I cant make at home. Lastly, service was a mess. We had 2 servers at time, and none when we needed them. Very eager to take away our dirty silverware, but never remember to bring us replacement. Waited 5 minutes before we got up and found spoons for our dessert. 15 before we can ask for check. Funny the managers seems to doing rounds, but cant spot these obvious problems... A bit disappointed. Hope they can improve on next visit.
Where do I start? 1/2 hr wait in the sun for omelet & eggs Benedict. Which arrived eggs cold, overdone, English muffin barely toasted, ham cold. Ice coffee on a summer day I don’t think so. Hot coffee poured over ice. Ok it’hot you would think they could put ice in your water. Nope lukewarm. Prices??? $18 for the pleasure.
This is just for the restaurant. The view is priceless, of course, but food and service were below expectation. The host on July 26 in the afternoon was deliberately obstinate and oblique in his communication (how difficult is it to explain that patio seating is reserved for brunch only?)Staff need to be trained better to not mix up orders and not spill tea on the way to the table. Dessert is tepid and frankly underwhelming. Lavender lemonade is lemon concentrate.Somewhat unbecoming.
It left a lot to be desired tbh.Stopped in last night with the bf for dinner and ambience on a Friday night - the Waterfall was our draw and is, as we found out, the best thing about this place. The ambience left a lot to be desired as did the food.Ordered their Summer Salad - a little spring mix of limp greens with pomegranate seeds that were turning ⬇️ 👎🙄 really??Ordered the Yellowfin Tartare which had zero taste - blah. Grilled Octopus was decent. The Crab Claws were beyond tiny. but the Crab Cakes were delicious!! 👍👍Honestly though - if Im paying these prices I want to feel like Im eating food elevated to what I can plop on a plate at home.I was expecting the Roundhouse patio to be something other than it was, I guess a little more put together with flowers and plants scattered around not just table and chairs with rusted umbrella stands and concrete walls - not even any music - wahwahwah.Maybe theyre keeping with the sad and desolate times but it would have been nice sitting in a cheery environment on a beautiful night under the stars listening to some soft music while hearing the waterfall in the distance amongst flowers and plants and feeling that you were away from the madness of whats going on.No oasis here … (🤞do something about it!!🤞)Because it does have the bones to be magical!!
We didnt stay in the hotel, but dined in the outdoor restaurant. It was very well managed, enforcing ample social distancing between guests, masks and other good practices. Loved the view of the waterfalls and enjoyed our meal. The shishito peppers were nicely seasoned and cooked well on cast iron, the duck confit buns were delicious. My bf and I shared the chicken sandwich + burger (is it obvious we were v hungry from hiking?). The cocktails were also delicious (blackberry sangria!) and service was friendly-professional.
Beautiful architecture however the room was not particularly clean. There were greasy hand prints on the outside of the hotel room door, a dead bug in the bathroom (next to the toilet) with a shower floor that looked like it hadnt been scrubbed. In an era of Covid this is unacceptable. Ps. Even the tables next to the bed had oily marks on it. Not healthy.
Service was good, except we couldnt get through on the phone to see if there were any tables free, rang but went through to voicemail. Ryan was our server and he was really nice. Water was always filled and never was empty. We came in on memorial day weekend on a Sunday for brunch and it was pretty empty, so we were able to snag a window table. Even with the dreary weather it was picturesque, with the falls in the background. I had the fried chicken sandwich and enjoyed it as well as the tater tots it came with. My dining companion had eggs and it looked like it was cooked to the temperature they asked for. The home fries were also really tasty. Cocktails we had were also good, but disappointed my mule did not come in a copper mug, but instead a highball glass.
I seriously cant recommend this place enough. From the moment we peaked through the windows and saw stylish bar, to the next when we walked into the lobby and were swept off our feet by the breathtaking design, we had our hopes set high. Luckily, the brilliant female bartender/server kept our needs met and questions answered. Finally and ultimately, the food was a fantastic experience! Flexible with dietary needs and full of flavor. As a terrific bonus, the restaurant manager took us out onto the patio to see the beatiful water fall and gave us a brief history of the building, and the loving family that runs the operation. This was one dinner we wont forget! Thanks for the perfect experience!
The HV Restaurant Week menu was fantastic! The decor was beautiful with a soft illumination of the water. Wait staff were very friendly and served the courses in a timely manner that was comfortable. There were a good amount of other customers who also seemed to enjoy there midweek outing like us so Im sure a reservation is a good idea for the weekend.Thank you, Roundhouse, for a lovely evening.
In an act of good faith, sent the following points to a hotel representative to get their take, but alas received nothing in response -- all pertaining to a recent stay at The Roundhouse Beacon as part of a weekend getaway. While the property is stunning and location convenient to the downtown area, the accommodations did not meet our expectations, especially considering the premium price paid for the room and expected chic boutique experience. Its understood that a small number of modifications may have been due to COVID, which we appreciate, but the overall state of the room was a bit underwhelming and even off putting -- cracks in the wall, unsightly cords and exposed outlets, a lack of storage space, and even a difficult-to-close, unfinished bathroom door without a handle. To top it off, a sub-par heating system left the room chilled throughout the night. The solution? Two portable space heaters provided by the manager on duty. While the staff was helpful in attempting to address our concerns, it was disappointing that two floor space heaters were required to stay warm in December combined with all the other inconveniences.Though the manager was able to provide a slight reduction to our rate, we felt that given the price for one nights stay, even after discount, wed be hard pressed to return. Beacon is a beautiful town, but well likely be looking elsewhere for our next stay which is disappointing considering the great potential for the Roundhouse.
The food was really goodMy party got the lobster mac and cheese, chicken, and crab cakes which were very tasty and well seasoned.I am giving this place a two star rating because the environment was not optimal for dining. We sat outdoors next to the waterfall and within ten minutes, my legs were being swarmed byMosquitos. This typically does not warrant two stars for me but my interaction with the servers gave us the vibe that they were well aware of this issue and were indifferent to it.If you go late summer, please stay indoors. Do not be like me and leave with over two dozen mosquito bites
I really hate leaving negative reviews but. The staff was friendly but the service subpar. The heater in our hotel room sounded like a jet engine attempting take off every few hours and the second night we didnt get to sleep until after midnight as there were wedding guests yelling in the parking lot outside our window. We ate at the restaurant, too. The breakfast was included, which was nice, but dinner was marred by over-cooked shrimp, poorly seasoned pasta, and lackluster service. That said, the location is superb.
Beautiful venue, but on the pricey side. Good views from both indoor and outdoor seating. Mixed drinks are definitely original and include a number of ingredients I havent seen anywhere else (e.g. violet flower liquor). Wine list of long, and they usually have 5 or 6 craft beers available. Food menu is seasonal and have been happy with most things Ive ordered. Would recommend.
Wonderful hotel and delicious restaurant. Enjoyed view of waterfall. Nice staff. Update three years later - restaurant woefully understaffed. One waitress and one bartender doing it all. They do not even have a table busser. Did not refill water until meal was over. No bread or amuse bouche or anything. I expect better from an upscale restaurant. Dinner was still delicious. Sorry I have to now knock them down to four stars. Hotel rooms still great.
We made a last minute booking and we’re happy to find a room. It’s located right in the downtown and convenient from shops, bars etc. The falls around the house are cute and unique.Must stop to have a drink at the restaurant.Room itself was a bachelor’s studio. Low rising bed, one chair, no desk, one window. Generous bathroom though.Usually it’s ok but due to covid had to stay in the room mostly and had to make a makeshift desk using iron board. I remember standing a lot just to avoid sitting down on the bed.Do your research about the rooms or book early. We did book last minute and ended up with the one we got.
The setting is ideal. The food is inventive and masterfully prepared, but the service has been somewhat lacking since it opened. That being said...The Roundhouse restaurant appears to have improved its service recently and they are making headway to provide a heightened experience for people wanting a special evening or brunch. Ive been a few times and a recent positive experience I had with a large party for brunch makes me want to return.
My girlfriend and I were exploring beacon and stumbled upon the Roundhouse restaurant. We walked in a little intimidated by the appearance because we were in street clothes and felt undressdd. We were greeted at the host station by the General Manager Josh. He was very welcoming and seated us with an incredible view of the falls once he learned it was our first time there. We split an app and a burger which were both delicious. The GM came back to our table to check on us and make sure we were enjoying everything which we were! The prices were very fair as well. Between the atmosphere, staff, and food we will definitely be returning.
The Roundhouse was fantastic in our first visit. The food and service was really good, prices were basically what you come to expect from any upscale restaurant. For the two of us it came to $100, that included 2 meals, 2 drinks and 1 dessert. The best part of this restaurant and most likely the reason you will go, is the location. It sits literally downstream of a waterfall and right on top of the rapids below. The entire restaurants one side is floor to ceiling windows so you can enjoy this view. That is worth admission alone.
Zachary was our server. Will definitely be asking for him next time. He really knew his stuff when we asked him questions about the menu. He had a full bar including us to wait on and he was still attentive and treated us like we his only customers. Food was delicious too. Pictures posted are of the cream cakes and the octopus appetizers.
The Roundhouse is a great place to go for a very romantic evening. My fiance and I have wanted to have dinner at the Roundhouse for some time. So this year we took advantage of the Hudson Valley restaurant week pricing and made our reservation. Seated a the base of a waterfall in Beacon, this restaurant give you one of the best dining views you can from a place that is not on the Hudson river. The interior decor is beautiful, just what I have come to expect from a renovated old factory space. I love their story of sustainability, the farm/market -to-table theme is great for me because I love the local culture and want it to succeed. The service was awesome, Gilbert was very professional and knowledgeable. We both had great meals and are happily looking forward to go back for another romantic meal. Thank you to the Roundhouse staff for doing such a great job!
This is a nice restaurant though pricer than other places in Beacon (its worth it). I really like it and its where I consistently take family and friends who are visiting. The food is excellent. Beware, the drinks are very strong. ;) The view, of the rather iconic Beacon waterfall is quite lovely too. highly recommended.
Overall: Service is sub-par (we had to ask for everything, including water and food/drinks that had been forgotten multiple times) BUT the food is yummy and inventive and the atmosphere is great. It became a joke how absent minded the service was as our meal went on... They really need to figure out their inefficiencies. Seems unorganized, disjointed and forgetful. Everyone was nice and apologetic when they realized they had forgotten, but those apologies felt shallow because they continued to forget orders and water refills and basic waiting staff manners through the meal. It was comical. Go there for the food and view, not expecting an attentive or graceful staff
So I made a reservation for 6pm and asked for a table by waterfall if possible. When we arrived they told us seating inside was available but there was a 20-25 min wait for outside, there were about 3 clean tables that I could see and I had a reservation so I didn’t get why we had to wait but we decided to wait the 20 min inside and have a drink at the bar. Zachary was our bartender and honestly, we should’ve just sat inside at the bar and ate our meal with him. I ordered the lobster roll and my mom the fish and chips, my order came out and my moms order was never put in so we waited about 10 min for that. The roll had a generous amount of lobster but it had 0 flavor so I drowned it in hot sauce and Instead of the chips I asked for a Cesar salad but they were out of the dressing....uh how?! So I said that’s fine just give me the salad without it and mentioned I didn’t want tomatoes, well I got tomatoes...loads of em in my “Caesar salad” my mom enjoyed the fish and tots (not chips) I tried it and it was good. Our server was pleasant but a bit overburdened, maybe they were short staffed or she had too many tables at the time, not sure. I had a great time making laughs with my mom though.
This is a review for the restaurant - the Smoke on the Water BBQ pop-up on one of the patios of the Roundhouse. The food is excellent, lots of options cooked fresh on site and vegetable-driven side dishes. The safety precautions for COVID made us feel very comfortable (masks when not at your table, contactless hand soap and dryers in the restrooms, compostable plates and cutlery, etc.) and the servers and hostess were super friendly. Its a great option for outdoor dining during the summer! We will return.
We stayed at the hotel over Thanksgiving weekend and had a great time. The restaurant is stylish, the waterfall view is perfect, and every meal we had was very good. The best part of Main Street is only a few steps away. If you stay at the hotel, there are a few things to be aware of: 1. No room service. There is a mini fridge with drinks, but if you want food, you need to pick it up from the restaurant. 2. The water pressure is not great. The bathrooms are nice, but dont expect a luxurious morning shower. 3. The hotel does not provide any transportation, so youll need to take a taxi or Uber from the train station. However, these are all minor details that did not detract from our experience. The service at both the hotel and restaurant was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back!
This is a GEM and worth the drive. A great spot if your visiting Marist College. It’s well worth the drive and blows the competition out of the water. And you get an amazing water view! Rooms and dinner were great. Unique warm friendly. We travel a lot. Stayed an extra night. Congrats. We’ll be back!!
It’s a shame... I really wanted to like this place, and I give it 2 stars for the quality of the food alone. When we went, we have problem after problem. We showed up as a group of 17 and had made reservations a week in advance. When we arrive, there was a “problem” with our reservation and it wasn’t in the books. The hostess was content to just chalk it up as our problem to deal with, and it wasn’t until we spoke with the manger, in length, that we were able to get a table over an hour after our original reservation time. To seat us, they had to split our group between two tables, that coupled with the waitress’s we had put a real damper on the bridal shower dinner we were having. A fancy night out that we all treated ourself too turned out to be a let down.
Went for birthday lunch, dishes came out missing half the items described on the menu. eg. was supposed to get to get eggs on English muffin with fries. Eggs and bacon came out with no fries, no English muffin - these were not add-ons! They were a part of the dish description! Coffee was awful. The atmosphere is really lovely but unfortunately not in line with the food. Two stars as the cocktails were great!
We visited on a summer evening in early August 2016. The outside patio with the waterfall in the background is absolutely fantastic. The noise of the falls is so Zen-like and relaxing. Its actually hard to leave. We had the most fabulous cocktails and snacks. Try their version of an Old Fashion and the Smokey Manhattan. The olives, almonds and baby fried artichokes with black olive tapenade are fabulous. The scallops for dinner were truly excellent and the special strawberry shortcake on sweet biscuits for dessert was delicious. We had excellent service and were not rushed in any way. It was a fabulous evening though pricey! We cant wait to return.
Outstanding property walking distance from a row of retail businesses. Best complimentary breakfast. Lit waterfalls on the grounds with overlook seating perfect for a moment of peace. Staff is personable and relaxed. Far from the cold feel of chain hotels but not artificially friendly.
Can’t remember a worse service experience. The hostess had no clue about what was happening. Waited an extra half hour beyond our reservation to get a window table only to have the hostess forget about us. The wait staff were more interested in chatting with each other than serving. When I asked if there was a sommelier I was sent a server who had no idea about the wine list and couldn’t even make a suggestion for a specific wine. The food was ok but there are too many other better food options in town.
This place has everything. The food is amazing and the selection is quite varried. The atmosphere is great and there is an amazing view of the waterfall. The patio is perfect for a nice sunny day. Last time we did sunday brunch we had such an amazing waitress she did not hesitate to provide recommendations when asked and was very friendly.
Location is great, overlooks a great waterfalls and having drinks and dinner with that rolling water in background is very soothing.Although considering it wasnt very busy, service was sub par.Food was excellent came with good presentation too. Not cheap but not overt priced. Typical of todays new trendy upscale eateries.
Went out for a friends birthday dinner last night, had an excellent meal...we ordered the salmon-cooked to perfection, the mussels were in a lovely sauce which was great for dipping bread! The chef brought us out a complimentary burratta which was so delicious...we chose the chocolate dessert and was exquisite, they even brought us brownies for my friends birthday!! Serious compliments to the chef, he made this a memorable night!Dana
We discovered the Roundhouse three years ago on a trip to Beacon and it became one of our fav places because of the great outdoor atmosphere. The first year, the food was really good and the experience quite memorable: great food, good service, and a wonderful setting. The next year, I noticed the quality of the food had gone down: not to an extent it was appreciably noticeable, but there was something that made me think the restaurant was having problems. This year confirmed my suspicion. The manager was new and the help had no idea what they were doing. My wife wanted a chicken Caesar salad and was given something that looked like someone had puked on the salad. The presentation of my burger was crap in that they brought the condiments in plastic containers--great if this were a cheap burger joint. But, this is not a cheap restaurant and one expects food and service in line with the price. If I am correct, the Roundhouse will not be in business much longer.
Even though the location is great, new management and the Guerra family seem pretty detached with the concept of hospitality and unprepared to handle very simple situations such as service animals in an outdoor seating environment. We only stayed for one night after the general manager kept following us around the premises insisting on us showing my girlfriends support animals identification (which is illegal) and the owners son Antonio saying it was irrelevant and threanten with legal action and adding fees to our bill. Overall, more than terrible, this was a traumatic experience, having a general manager yelling at our faces every time we leave the room holding hands with an owner looking at security cameras for disruptive behavior on a service animal that is less 18lbs can hardly be called competent staff. Go to the Beacon Hotel.
The Roundhouse is a great place to eat and hang out. The restaurant was divided into three separate parts, The Patio, 2EM, and Swift. Ive mostly eaten at The Patio, which is a gorgeous, fun outdoor space, complete with a great waterfall and a resident Blue Heron named Morty who enjoyed fishing there. Ive enjoyed their steak and melon salads, as well as their burgers, steak frites and lobster rolls. The shrimp is poached and a bit underdone for my taste, but thats just me. The bar has lodge feel complete with living room chairs set in front of a beautiful fireplace. The bar was named 2EM for 2 East Main, the address of the historic mill that operated using the waterfall for power, and was restored into this unique restaurant. Swift was a fine dining venue, and was known for its experimental, unique, sophisticated fare. It was not my cup of tea, as Im more a steak house kind of girl, and I enjoyed the more causal fare at 2EM which offered a menu similar to that of The Patio. Recently, they revised their format to go a little more mainstream and joined the three spaces into one venue with one menu. Ive not had the pleasure of eating there since the change except for twice during Hudson Valley Restaurant week, when the menu was naturally limited again, but the food was excellent. The service is knowledgeable and attentive and all in our party of 8 had a great time. Im hoping to get reservations for Thanksgiving dinner there this week. They had a Waterfall Lighting party last night and the fiber optic lighting is just beautiful. Im a local and hear nothing but raves about their event/wedding venue. Well be back soon and often and I look forward to having this gem right here in my neighborhood where its bringing many more visitors to our fabulous little city on the Hudson!
Great atmosphere, service was really excellent, and food was delicious. As other reviewers mentioned, it is pricey for the area, but it is also a cut above the norm. Coming from Manhattan, the prices were pretty normal and quality of the food was definitely worth it. They could be slightly more generous with the pour for wines by the glass, but overall a great experience. Highly recommended.
I was among a table of 10 at the Roundhouse (inside), the food was exceptional, and the space was fantastic as well. Our waitress, Brea, unsure how to spell that sadly (should have asked) was simply amazing, truly one of the best servers Ive ever had in all my travels. Would go back in a heartbeat if in the area again.
We arrived to the place for outdoor dinning on the garden. The place was totally empty , and they refused to seat me because I was with my emotional support dog, even with the proper license!!! This old guy was super rude ! I hope they stay empty because they know zero about hospitality.
The roundhouse has main lounge/lobby area in a separate building - where the restaurant is located. The staff greeted us in a friendly manner and redirected us to the hotel. Upon entering the other building, another friendly staff checked us in and let us know when our complimentary bfast will be available. The room looks somewhat clean and new but the carpet causes so much dust floating in the air. Not sure if they vacuum the carpet every day - but dust particles were visible to our eyes. I found blood stain on the bathroom door and the wall next to it so when I asked they asked if we would like to switch to a new room. So we did (and this room had a strange looking hole on the ceiling where I lied down) However, the staff explained that it is jam not blood - i thought I knew what consistency blood stain has vs. Jam.. The hotel provides nice complimentary breakfast though - it was really good and had a lot of options to choose from. The small waterfall is pleasing to the eyes but it is not something worth visiting just to see that. Well with that experience(strangely blood-looking stain and too much dust floating in the air), the hotel was just okay for that weekend, but I dont think I would come back nor recommend to anyone, for the price being.

2022-03-20A friend and I stopped by this restaurant, and we both had the chicken waffle, the meat was tender and juicy, the waffle, crunchy and delicious! I recommend it!! Price is not that bad from who’s coming from NY, 18 dollars chicken waffle and 4 a lemonade.

2022-01-09Food was incredible and service was great! Our server had blue or green streaks in her hair, can’t remember her name. Great service! Cocktails were incredible as well. We came here to celebrate our 2 year anniversary, and it didn’t disappoint. My boyfriend said it’s one of the best chicken sandwiches he has ever had, and the burger was to die for. The ox tail tots are definitely a great way to start. And of course, the view 😍.

2022-06-27Our son and new daughter-in-law were married on Saturday at the Roundhouse. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. The food was fabulous, the service was spectacular and the venue was spectacular. Our guests cannot stop talking about how amazing the wedding was. Everyone also enjoyed the after party at the hotel bar. The organizing staff was amazing - thanks to Amber, Angela and Claudia. They were wonderful! A Roundhouse wedding is Highly Recommended!!We had a number of rooms at the Roundhouse and they were lovely. We enjoyed our stay there. Our room had a beautiful view and they provide a lovely continental breakfast to the room. They were very attentive to our needs. We look forward to returning.Donna and Michael Brenner

2022-05-22The Roundhouse seems, in a word, cozy. I have definitely been in larger and grander banquet halls. Not that this place is bad, its about average or a little bit above average to me. The cake came out after Ive already had two cups of coffee. And my dessert fork was filthy with food remnants on the handle and a little bit on the tines. We informed one of the staff members and the fork was replaced immediately with a clean one. Kudos for that. But my experience overall was just about average.

2022-03-16I haven’t been able to stay on property at the Roundhouse but was able to visit their picturesque restaurant. At the very end of Beacons busy downtown area you’ll see a steep decline onto the patio of the on property restaurant. It’s really a very serene location and I will advise it gets busy during the warmer months. The waterfall in the background of dining isn’t loud at all and almost gives off a white noise. I usually pay a visit when taking a long motorcycle ride up to Beacon to relax with friends for the day. I’ve visited for lunch and dinner and couldn’t have been happier with the steak order. I was able to attend a wedding on site and the venue was beautiful. Dining room was prepped for morning buffet breakfast which also was delicious. Great entertainment space and food throughout. The restaurant hasn’t disappointed me yet and can’t wait for summer to soak in some sun on the patio deck!

2022-01-29The Roundhouse restaurant has a beautiful view. At night light shines on the rushing water and the ice. The atmosphere is nice. The restaurant is well appointed. I ordered the mushroom Mac and cheese. It was delicious - I wanted more.

2022-05-26Great staff, fantastic reception amazing location so why four stars? Sometimes the sum of all the parts don’t always add up to a whole experience! Our room was in the building across the river and it took us three attempts to get to our room. After a long journey it would have been easier if they had a card with how best to do this! Great views from the room and equipment within it. The view from the room was great but as it was next to the bridge you rather felt like a goldfish as people could peer in.Well stocked fridge. Breakfast was a cold continental one delivered to your door but within this were the spoons needed to eat the yoghurt that were in the fridge leave some utensils in the room. Big shout out to the restaurant manager who was amazing! As always with reviews go and make your own mind up!

2022-06-20Our waiter was truly lovely, but the food is really below par for the high prices they try to charge (prices akin to amazing restaurants in NYC). At best it’s in line with the mediocre country club you eat at because you’ve already paid your dues. Bottles of wine were quite good and the fries alongside the fish and chips were good, but dinner was made better by leaving and grabbing some ice cream elsewhere.

2022-04-04I had a lovely meal here recently! Youve gotta check out the view from the main dining room as it overlooks a gorgeous waterfall and river beneath it. Our meal was also exquisite, with the standouts being the truffle oil tater tots, salmon, paella, and creme brulee we ordered over our multiple courses. This place makes an incredibly lovely date night, and Im excited to revisit it again soon.

2022-05-28A special and fantastic experience! We came all the way from New York to Beacon to celebrate my BF’s birthday. It didn’t disappoint us. The waterfall is such a statement! Gorgeous view! The food is amazing! We came at 3:30 pm after lunch and a hike, so we ordered something not too heavy: summer salads with grilled chicken, devil eggs, chicken sandwich, and steak. They’re all delicious! The restaurant is not open until 3pm. From 3pm-5pm, no reservation needed. Please make reservations ahead if you come for regular dinner (especially with a great seat)!
