Our band, The Insolent Willies, had the opportunity to play a gig at the Sentinel, and we had a blast! The residents were warm, receptive and engaging. The Activities Room provided a perfect venue for music, with plenty of room for interacting and even dancing! The staff was accommodating and our overall experience was great. We hope to be invited back!
I recently visited The Sentinel of Amsterdam and was in awe with the beauty of the facility. The grounds are well kept with comfortable seating outside for the residents to enjoy the fresh air. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by happy and smiling staff. The smell coming from the dining room made me want to stay for lunch. The activities room is enormous with many large windows to let the sunlight in. I was taken outside to the garden which the residents tend to to find zucchini, tomatoes, parsley, basil, and much more. A resident named Faith was outside watering at the time. There was also a movie theater, beauty parlor, library, and cafe. There were a few residents sitting in the cafe enjoying their coffee, tea, and snacks while chatting. Everyone seemed so happy and content. I highly recommend this facility if you are looking for a community for your loved one.
Working in this facility for the last 6 months has given me the opportunity to be of assistance to others. The Sentinel of Amsterdam is a clean, friendly and comforting environment. Each staff member works hard to ensure each resident feels at home. It is a pleasure to be part of the team.
May 15 I became a resident and have enjoyed my stay the last two months. From playing bingo in the activities department, to watching a movie in the theater, it truly has been a pleasure becoming part of the community. The food is always fresh and covered to keep warm. Rooms are clean and neat, staff is always friendly.
In the last several months, the focus has been on the pandemic. We have been lucky to not be included with the hundreds and thousands of facilities that have had tragically high rates of infections and deaths. On behalf of all the residents, we are hopeful that this will pass and everybody will be ok. I am grateful that I feel safe and well taken care of. Thank you to all the people who have made this possible; administration and workers for being here for us.
Let start by saying the first impressions as you walk into Sentinel Assisted Living are what a modern beautiful facility it is. On a recent trip to tour Sentinel for my mother. My aunt and I were greeted by Samantha who gave us a full tour and answered our questions. Throughout our experience with Samantha, we were in complete awe of the care and details the staff out into providing a beautiful, classy and fully dignified environment for the residents. Samantha was beyond helpful and her pride in her work and the center was evident in her enthusiasm and knowledgeable demeanor. We canβt thank her enough. Iβll summarize by saying, when the day comes for me to need an assisted living facility, this is what I would want for myself and certainly my mother. Congratulations to all who made this wonderful place!
The Sentinel of Amsterdam is wonderful. The staff is experienced and friendly. They take very good care of my mom, who has been there for 13 months. The building is always clean, bright and cheerful. Her room is comfortable and is always clean. The laundry is done once a week and comes back clean and folded. The food is very good and served by friendly, caring staff. The staff talk with the residents and know their names and say hi. Residents go to the med room to get their meds each day. There are many activities to keep the residents busy and active. Mom loves the music events and bingo. Many crafts. The activity room is big and very sunny with lots of windows. The Activity director is amazing. For a quiet area, there is the library. There is a theater for movies. Mom gets her hair done in the beauty shop, so she always looks pretty. I am happy that my mom is happy. THANK YOU TO ALL STAFF.
Being a part of the team at The Sentinel of Amsterdam is something Iβm thankful for every single day. Itβs a place where whether itβs staff or the residents, that family feeling is all around you! Loving your job and the people around you makes life so much better! Iβm proud to say Iβm a part of such a great place & thank you to The Sentinel for all you do!
Very clean, dining room looks like a fancy restaurant - cloth tablecloths and all. Theres a little cafΓ© room open where residents can grab a coffee and a little snack in between meal times. The library, reading room is really nice, so cozy with a gas burning fireplace that just gives off a warm feeling and a great atmosphere for sitting in quite to read in a comfy chair. The activities room used for gatherings and craft sessions is very nice as well, lots of room. There is even a movie theatre with a large screen. Everything is so new, clean and the lobby feels like youre in a fancy hotel. Rooms are an average hotel style room with a small fridge and sink with a little counter space. Daily housekeeping and laundry service are included. There is a private bathroom in each room. Staff all seems very friendly. Our relative couldnt be in a better facility in the Amsterdam area.
The Sentinel is a great facility for your loved ones. The facility has amazing, caring, supportive staff who all want whats best for the individuals who live there. If you know or are someone who needs some additional assistance and havent checked out our beautiful facility I encourage you to do so.
I am an assistant Director of the Creative Connections Clubhouse in Amsterdam. We are a community center for children in Amsterdam. Over the past years we have spent quality time interacting with residents at the facility, playing games, dancing, laughing. I value these times for our youth at the clubhouse because it builds character And respect for our elders.
It doesnt get old at The Sentinel of Amsterdam. People are pleased with the care and they have excellent meals prepared for their clients. I see my two brother-in-laws here on occasion, and I have to admit, there is even a bit of jealousy when I see all the amenities they have. Its a 3-star hotel lifestyle in the heart of Amsterdam. Sign me up.
This place is a godsend to our family. My widowed father-in-law was quite lonely and struggling to manage in his apartment, but now that he has moved to the Sentinel, he has made new friends, enjoys the excellent meals in the dining room ( especially the soups), has his laundry done for him, jokes with the friendly attentive staff, attends the activities including the theater, and relaxes in the comforts of his room. The staff made our whole family feel very welcome during our initial visit and went way out of their way to ease Dads transition in the move. They even came with a van to his apartment to collect his belongings and the few bits of furniture he wanted to bring ( desk, file cabinet, recliner). There is a primary care doctor who comes to office in the facility weekly to see patients there and transport can be arranged to go to specialist physicians as needed. I call this place the Taj Mahal of assisted living facilities! I have visited such places all over the USA and worked in many and this is truly one of the finest.
I love my job I have worked here for almost 3 years Iβm a home health I take of the residents like they are my family I love them itβs a beautiful facility with great staff and the administration is caring and cares so much about their staff and there is great activities for the residents, great food, great atmosphere to work in.

2022-07-01I wanted to thank Emily Gavry for providing me with the opportunity to work with management, the staff and residents at the Sentinel in Amsterdam. Is has been a great experience working with a professional the caliber of Emily. What a truly amazing individual Emily is and equally as amazing was being at the Sentinel. From the moment you walk in you feel like you are in a 5 Star hotel and the people at the front desk that greeted me each time could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. The Sentinel is simply grand with its beautiful interior and relaxed atmosphere. Thank you again Emily and thank you management, the staff and residents at the Sentinel for making my experiences there memorable ones! I look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with you all and continue to work together. With the caring management, dedicated staff and involved residents, the Sentinel will continue to grow into a premier location for anyone interested in assisted living. 2019-08-28The Sentinel of Amsterdam has been a true blessing for our family. We were hesitant to put our loved one in an assisted living facility but once we finally did here at the Sentinel, we wished we did a long time ago. The staff is great all the way from the administration to the aides. The building and grounds is beautiful. We love to come and visit!

2019-07-22Over the last two months I have been a resident at The Sentinel. My experience has been wonderful. The medical room is very good, no problem at all . The Med Techs are very helpful, kind and alert with medication, which is important. If I ever need help there is assistance. If I need a meal change they accommodate me. Kindness comes in both directions and in my opinion we all work together. I enjoying participating in the activities department. The aides are patient and help when needed. Overall, my experience is a five star.

2019-02-08We have our sister in The Sentinel of Amsterdam as a resident. She is very happy there and they take very good care of her. She feels comfortable and enjoys the company of the other residents. All the staff that we have met are friendly, caring and help you in any way they can. Wonderful people...The facility is clean, bright & sunny and there are many places for any activities the residents might be interested in. There is a movie theater, a snack room, a library, a lovely dining area where they get whatever kind of meal they want or is prescribed for them and other places for activities. The food is delicious. If we ever are in the need of assisted care this is the place we would want to be in.Thank you.MS*********************

2019-08-10My 91-year-old mother-in-law and I visited a relative who recently moved in to the Sentinel. We didnβt know what to expect or what kind of spirits we would find our relative in. We were both very pleasantly surprised to find a very active facility with kind staff members. Our relative said that she was very happy at the Sentinel, enjoyed the food, and was happy with her room. It was a good experience for us as visitors.
