I have ordered from, The Sill and received healthy, well packed ( with love) plants. There was an issue with a plant during shipping through no fault of their own and their customer service was exceptional!! I will continue ordering from The Sill and highly recommend this store to everyone. And, I havent even tried their skincare products yet but cant wait til I do, I know I wont be disappointed!!Thank you, Sill!!!!
I purchased my mom an Orchid here for Mothers Day 2020 and had a GREAT experience! I was nervous about ordering a plant online in case it died or didnt travel well but everything worked out perfectly. It even recently survived a move from MA to SC and is still blooming (a note on my mom: she inadvertently kills every plant she owns). Just ordered her a Mothers Day flower bouquet for this year and am hopeful we will have the same experience! Now for the pandemic to end so I can travel to NY to visit the store in person!
NEVER ORDER PLANTS FROM THE SILL. I was so disappointed - they sent me a half-dead plant. ordered Alocasia California from the Sill and it came in a very poor condition. The stems were folded and the leaves were ripped, dirt was all over the box and the plant. I had to clean up my whole apartment floor because of this. I literally feel like I bought a left-over plant or damaged plant(that could not go to the stores for display). You can buy a better one in Amazon and Walmart. Even a supermarket near your place will sell better plants than sill.
I’ve been to this shop 3 or 4 times. I’ve had pretty positive experiences the previous times. This time around however, all of the plants looked really sad and not taken care of: they were dusty, mostly shriveled up, completely lopsided, with ripped leaves etc. There were also only two people working, both of whom were extremely nice, but it mean there was a long line and we might’ve been standing for 15 minutes just to check out.
I was so excited about this but unfortunately the plant came with what looks like some disease on it - which was fine - I can manage that. However the wall vase I bought was as small as my sons toy car for $50!! Incredibly over priced. Fine that’s on me, I should’ve checked the size but at least make your photos a bit more realistic!Anyway no problem - I’ll just exchange, well they refused to let me exchange or return. Stuck with something that I definitely do not like at all, perhaps it can go in my sons toy box after all 😒 I just won’t purchase from them again - to me - that’s just bad business.
I love that you can sort to look exclusively at pet-friendly plants. I needed to re-stock my house with plants after getting a kitty who likes to nibble on plants. I ordered three, and all arrived in great condition. I think their pots are overpriced, so I ordered the naked plants and potted in my own containers. They are still growing nicely and I would definitely purchase from The Sill again.
In Sep 2020 I won a $300 gift card for The Sill.I placed my first order 9/30, received shipping confirmation 10/14 on some items. I received 2 Parlor Palms instead of 1 Palm and 1 ZZ Plant. Let CS know and they told me they would be fixing.Got another shipment from the same order a few days later, my Haworthia was missing. One of the succulents was also pretty dead. Contacted CS again and they said they would ship out replacements. At this point I still had 1 Echeveria never received. I reached out on 10/23, almost a month since ordering to check on the status. They said they would ship it out.On 11/5 I reached out to CS again because I still had not received my ZZ Plant or Echeveria. No response.Got an email from Chrissy on 11/11 to check if I was happy with my deliveries, while I STILL had not received 2 items from 9/30. I let her know the issues and no response. I emailed again 11/16 and 11/20, no response. I left reviews on their FB page and finally got one. I was refunded for the ZZ Plant and the Echeveria and told they would ship them out too for the trouble. My original purchase was on a gift card, so the refund was also issued to the gift card. I can only spend this refund back at The Sill. So I placed another order 11/30 for a Monstera.Got a shipping update 12/2 for my Echeveria and ZZ Plant. I received it 12/5 with both plants listed on packing slip, but only the Echeveria. I waited a few days to see if it would come and emailed CS again on 12/7. No response. On 12/14 I still had not received my ZZ Plant, have no update of my 11/30 order shipping, and have not heard from CS. I went back to my FB review to try to get a response. Andie reached out to me and again refunded the ZZ Plant and promised to send it out. The original planter was unavailable and had to be subbed. I was told my order from 11/30 would be delivered tonight. On 12/16 Chrissy emails me again to see if I am happy with my orders, which I still have not received. On 12/17 I emailed Andie back as well to let him know I still havent received my order from 11/30.On 12/21 I received shipping confirm for my ZZ Plant finally, 4 months after ordering. On 12/29 I emailed Andie because I STILL have not received my order from 11/30. I was issued a refund and told it would ship out.On 1/8 I finally receive my Monstera from 11/30, its a baby compared to the picture posted online, there are no slits in the leaves yet so AGAIN disappointed for the price but at this point figured it would not be worth letting them know.On 1/9 I went to go place another order, since I keep getting refunded to this gift card due to screw ups. My account had been deleted from their website. On 1/13 I got shipping confirmation for this order. When received the base for the pot was shattered. No other damage to the box. I let Andie know and he told me a replacement would be sent out when restocked. He gave me an additional $50 credit for all of this trouble. On 1/19 I went to place an order with the store credit, but it does not cover shipping cost. Every order so far has covered shipping, but I am now told that is against their policy. They agreed to refund me the $10 in this case once I had placed the order. On 1/24 I received an automated email letting me know that my items will be shipping soon.On 1/29 I received my replacement pot, they sent an entire pot + base. The replacement was not the same as the original, it was smaller and different style so the new base doesnt fit the original pot. So I still have a pot with no base and now received a smaller pot as a replacement. On 2/5 I reached out to Andie because I still have no updates to my 1/20 order and let him know about the issues with the pots. I was given the option of picking a new pot (there were hardly any in stock) or waiting until they receive it to ship. I let him know they can ship it once in stock. I never received status of my 1/20 order. On 2/9 Chrissy emailed me for a THIRD time to make sure I am happy with my delivery that once again HAS NOT EVEN BEEN SHIPPED.
I went to this place to buy a nice plant because my office was being photographed. The plants were nice, but extremely expensive and had many black spots on them. I asked the lady working at the store how long my tree would last, and she said years. I paid for the one hundred dollar plant, and mind you that she tried to convince me to buy a completely over priced vase that was more expensive than the plant itself. Two days after I had bought the plant, the leaves started to fall off. A week had passed and they all fell off. I am not the type to write reviews, but this was a complete disappointment so I felt the need to advise you all TO NOT WAISTE YOUR MONEY.
Ordered two plants and became a member after THE SILL Stores were recommended to me. Plants arrived in PERFECT condition with instructions. Ive since ordered another! So far my babies are thriving! I ordered them in a plastic pot and am planning to transplant them into a planter! Keeping my fingers crossed.
Great store with nice plant selections. some minor blemishes on select plants but nothing out of the ordinary for houseplants. they provided a wide selection of plants, large and small. nice interior and exterior as well as friendly staff, would recommend overall for houseplant beginners.
BEWARE!!!!!!After purchasing 4 plants online from The Sill over two weeks ago (1/7), I am currently trying to get a response about canceling and refunding my order.I contacted them (on 1/12) after the first week, once I noticed that my order status still hadnt changed from unfulfilled in my online account. They said to note that my order would take 5-10 business days to arrive. My order status hadnt changed after two more days, so I contacted them (1/18) and asked for an update. Two days later, they responded (1/20) saying one of the plants I ordered is out of stock. My options were that I could swap the one for an alternative plant and get this shipped out ASAP, or they would reimburse the cost of the one plant and get the rest sent along. (Note, the 5-10 business day shipping charge was $25.)I responded immediately asking for a refund on all of the plants and let them know I was disappointed in the timeliness of their response. At this point I have still not received a response, my account indicates my order remains unfulfilled, Ive called every one of their store locations-not one phone was answered, and at this point, I am preparing to contact my bank and report the transaction as fraudulent. I have no idea what else to do.I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
I ordered seven plants from The Sill. The prices were great and I was excited to receive my new plants. However, when my plants arrived they were completely parched and there was quite a bit of potting medium that had come loose from the plants. My neon pathos was pretty well lifeless but did perk up after about 4 days after thoroughly watering it. My marble peperomia had several areas of the leaves that looked burnt and crispy, but is putting out quite a bit of new growth. My pilea didnt look the greatest either but, again, it has a lot of new growth that has grown quite a bit in the month that Ive had the plants. The neon pathos, jade pathos, and silver philodendron werent really established plants, but more like a pot of several rooted cuttings that Ive had to repot because they were just so loosely packed in their pots and the plugs kept coming loose when I watered them. I dont know that The Sill would be my first choice for ordering plants online, but I cant say Im completely unhappy either.
My jade pothos arrived with a little bit of wear and tear, but it has been a couple of weeks and it looks absolutely amazing!! It came quickly, was packaged well, and I love the care sheet that came with letting me know how often to water and the common signs of over/under watering. I cant wait to get my next plant through The Sill!
I like sending people plants. Ive used both The Sill and floral delivery services to send gifts to people. What I deeply appreciate about The Sill is that the thing I see and order in their store, or on the site, is exactly what is going to be delivered. That includes the attention to grooming and planting. The pots are lovely, and The Sill offer a fantastic range of options. And if youre sending a plant to someone who isnt a plant person, no worries – the included instructions are great (and very nicely designed).
I love plants and have some that are 40 pus in years that I have given to friend etc. So I decided to start slow and simple with The Sill and couldnt be happier. My plants arrived in Michigan healthy and are doing so well. I have not had a good mail order experience from others but I will be ordering again...and encouraging others. I love your care cards and followup as well.
I bought a couple plants for a birthday present for myself and they arrived in great shape! Gloria Vanderbilt, the money tree, is doing very well on my windowsill and Phil Hartman, the philodendron, is perched on my bookshelf. Great packaging, easy instructions, and I love the follow ups from The Sill. Get yourself a cute plant!
I ordered the Hoya Heart plant for Valentine’s Day as a gift. Arrived on time for Valentine’s Day and was a hit. The “I dig you” pick was adorable and I’m so glad I included it in my order, and the pot is great quality. The plant, however, started browning the very next day and completely died a few day’s later despite our best efforts to bring it back. I’m assuming it didn’t handle the shipping process well. Would definitely stop in the store if I’m ever in the area, but I am very hesitant to place an order online again.
So far, so good. the rubber plant arrived in amazing condition with very clear care instructions. Ive ordered from other on-line plant vendors and in some cases it was a disaster. This plant arrived intact, clean (no spilling/spilled soil), and appears very robust. Sills customer service is also excellent. I had to cancel an order, and they were understanding and quick to credit my card. I cant wait to buy from Sill again.
Ive had both the experience of getting plants shipped and buying in-store, and I must say, going to the store itself is so incredibly worth it! Not only is the selection much more diverse, but their customer service is spot on. Although its not to say shipping was bad by any means - Ive had plants shipped from other nurseries before but The Sill simply packs plants the best! Minimal bruising while in transit, and theyre watered right before so theres limited drying. Also, their soil is excellent. Ive used Fox Farm as my primary repotting soil, but whatever theyre using here is really fast-draining (optimal for house plants). You can tell how knowledgeable and caring they are towards these plants, so be sure to stop in and ask the reps whats new, how to take care of so-and-so and attend their workshops. Oh, and their text chain also is great for new arrivals (if youre looking for a monstera, theyll always note it in the text if its available) and you can reserve a plant for that day to get them. One of the best garden centers you can go to in the city!
This was the most horrible experience I have ever had ordering a plant online. I have ordered so many plants from different states and none have come in such a horrible condition like this one...AND THIS ONE WAS ONLY coming from a different borough! To say the plant pot was shattered beyond recognition would be an understatement. Aside from the horrific state in which the pot was - the plant was completely damaged, stems were broken and leaves were already dehydrated and dying off of the plant. This was a birthday present and I can’t express how embarrassing it was to see my friend open this monstrosity. For the price- the packaging of the plant was so poor and no extra precautions were taken so that the plant could even have a chance at a safe transit. I can only imagine the plants being shipped out of state. Wow. So disappointing. The company offered a new plant or a reimbursement and didn’t really take much responsibility on their part...just kind of blamed it on “Mother Nature” and UPS. I am not the first person to experience this situation- their Facebook has plenty of reviews I wish I read before wasting my money and time. In addition the ship time was also pretty terrible. Get it together The Sill. You guys suck. You’re better off going to Home Depot and getting a plant and your own pot and painting it yourself. It would be less stressful and 10000% better quality. What a shame.
I placed an order for the Hoya Heart plant. I loved the plant and the pot it came in, but the plant started wilting/curling up and had black/brown spots two days after receiving it. This was very disappointing as this was a pricey purchase. I was hoping for a cutting that would eventually become a plant. Upon reading reviews, the cutting has to be from a section of vine with roots, so it can be difficult and quite the wait, if it in fact ever does become a plant. Had I known this, I would not have placed the order with The Sill. I collect succulents and had seen a Hottest Valentines Gift idea segment on the Today Show with this plant as one of the gifts highlighted, thats why I ordered it.
This is my third time buying plants from The Sill over on Amsterdam Ave in Manhattan. Beautiful store and I love the large Fiddle leaf that they have in the window. I bought a rubber plant then a silver philodendron and lastly a birds nest fern and they are all doing great. I want to buy more plants but The Sill is limited but they are wonderful if you are just beginning your plant journey and I would def recommend.
My Birds Nest fern is happily sitting on a ledge in my office. Fern was delivered to Boston in the middle of winter (once it was warm enough!) and only had a slight amount of trauma on her arrival here. So far so good. I really appreciate that the Sill will not ship your plant until its a save temperature to do so. The intense protective packaging my little plant came in explains why shipping was so expensive. And to top it all off, the planter it came in is gorgeous!
My plant came damaged with a broken stem and brown ripped leaves. It’s too expensive of a plant to be delivered in this condition. I chose this company because I thought they would send me a healthy plant and take necessary precautions to avoid and minimize damage during transit. It appears it was shipped last night and arrived at my house around 1pm the next day. I don’t understand why it’s in this condition from being in a box for what appears to be less than 24 Hours. I am questioning if they send me an already damaged plant?
Two out of the three plants I ordered arrived safely and healthy and are currently doing well! My peperomia unfortunately was not potted correctly in the nursery pot and arrived droopy and loose and practically dislodged from the pot. I had to repot it immediately which I try to avoid with plants that have been shipped but it still died about a week later. Otherwise everything was neat and happy and I like the information tags that come with the plants!
So impressed with the condition of the plants when they showed up! I love them and definitely plan to order more in the future! Only suggestion I have for the company is to make customizable filters on the website so I can select, pet friendly, low maintenance, light level etc., instead of going to the pet friendly section and searching through each plant to find my ideal maintenance/light level etc. Hope that makes sense! Other than that I am super happy with the plants and planters that I received!
Order showed up with only one plant instead of the two I ordered but customer service was quick to remedy the mistake. I received the second plant within a couple days of emailing and they even threw in a small air plant for their mistake. The plants I received are beautiful and healthy and Im definitely going to order more. I even attended their plant-care class at the SoHo location which was fun, informative, and a great way to spend a Thursday night!
Was directed here to leave a review for an online order... I definitely would not recommend ordering online from the sill. My plant arrived smaller than the one in the picture, beaten up, and immediately lost more leaves from the stress. I bought the same species of plant in a better condition and for a lower price (with no expensive shipping) at a different physical store and its thriving compared to the one I ordered from the sill.
Ive gotten both fungus gnats and spider mites at this store location in the past couple of months. I recognize that pests come with plant ownership but there are plenty of plant store and nurseries in NYC that are more vigilant, which is helpful for new plant owners. Worth noting Ive had no issues with the Monstera I purchased at the LES location.
I am so impressed that I could order 2 house plants from my home in Beaufort, SC and have them delivered to my door from NYC alive, healthy and thriving. Living in a small town I cant always find the trendy and specific indoor plants that I want that are alive and well. I purchased the large zz plant and a prayer plant and both are doing great after 2 weeks. The packaging was great and they also included these cute little care cards to help you care for your new plants. Will definitley order from them again!
My two snake plants arrived quickly and nicely packaged. The Laurentii snake plant looked okay, though less full than advertised. But the Zeylanica snake plant was quite small and a little damaged. there was a hole in one of the leaves and the tip of another had been damaged. Im not sure if this is normal for the plant type, or if it indicates poor plant health. They do seem to be doing okay in my windowsill. Please advise if I should be concerned.Update 6/6: The Sills customer service is really excellent. I was in touch with Chrissy via email and send her photos. She kindly offered to send me replacement plants. They arrived yesterday and they look lovely. The even sent an additional Hoya heart plant that said Sorry for our mistake, our heart was in the right place. Very nice touch. Thank you!!
I am so incredibly impressed with The Sill! From the ease of placing my order, to the quickness of delivery, to the amazing packaging job of the plants, to the health of each plant....I am just in love and in awe of The Sill. I will definitely be ordering more plants from them. If I had to offer one downside it would be that they require $75 to offer free shipping. Other than that...they are perfect!
I joined in their monthly plant club, and so far, the past two months have been amazing. The first month, I received a Bromeliad and 3 air plants. I brought my bromeliad to work, and it is doing amazing on my desk! So many comments have been made, and it is still bright pink! One of the air plants I got now has a pup growing! They are all thriving in the places I have them at home. The second month, I received FRESH! potting soil and a new ceramic pot, honestly just in time for one of my other green babies to get repotted (I do not remember the plants name). I am so excited to see my next box, and will be looking into getting some plants outside of the monthly boxes. :)
Customer service is great and respond quickly. However, I would not recommend their plants. The plants are extremely small and way overpriced. I ordered a plant for mothers day and it was embarrassingly small and arrived in poor condition. The plant looked like it was already dying.
I ordered a couple of plants from The Sill, one a Fusion White calathea and the other a monstera. They both came well packaged (and quickly once they shipped!), healthy, and have adjusted quite nicely. The monstera is growing beautiful and unfurled several new leaves these last couple of days! The Calathea Ive not seen any new growth yet but it looks happy at least. The fact that the plants arrived in such beautiful shape was enough for me to want to order again.
My Pilea Peperomioides plant came so badly damaged that it died within days. I was hoping that with some TLC it would make a rebound but it never had a chance. Of the 5 plants I ordered 2 were wrecked when they arrived. I was excited and had high hopes for The Sill but the packaging doesnt look anything like they advertise. These plants were in a box that was much too large and loosely wrapped in paper. I am very happy with my remaining 3.5 plants (one is trying to hold on) and would recommend The Sill if you are able to visit their store front.
It was nice to do a plant subscription but the pet safe plants I received were not what I was expecting. I cancelled my subscription after two, and both of those plants (the parlor palm & the peperomia marble) have now died, even though I followed all of the directions.
Update review. After positive communication with Sill team, they sent out a replacement for one of the damaged plants along with two complimentary plants. This time they used the rubber band to stabilize the soil and plants which is a huge plus. So far they are in pretty good condition. The customer service is very nice, although its still pricy. Overall not bad.Previous review. The plants came in a huge box, and I ordered 7 plants 3 of them were already came out of the pot with leaves are yellow and dry, even broken. whoever did the package job sucks. Calathea: Rattlesnake still have lots of yellow spots on its leaves. Pilea Peperomioides only has 5 leaves left, because their leaves are so freaking fragile, and 5 of them were broken during the transportation. Peperomia Rosso leaves are very small and they are growing sidewise not upward. and super fragile too! very disappointed on my first purchase at Sill.
Theyre amazing. Not only did they sell me amazing plants, but they helped me care for them with their plant care help line and their weekly workshops. A hands-on gardening experience is what youll get here. Just wished they expanded their plant selection to more colorful or flowering plants. They know the dirt, and theyre super friendly.
I recently ordered 2 plants. One, a calathea pinstripe, is GORGEOUS and traveled all the way to Wyoming so well. I was really, really impressed. The other though, a silver philodendron, came in pretty bad shape. Yellowing leaves with black tips, really wilted, a handful of leaves almost completely dead when I opened up the box. I contacted customer service, who promptly replied and told me the plant probably had a fungal infection. While I appreciated the quick turn around time and the knowledgeable answer on how to care for the plant, Im bummed that I was clearly shipped a plant that wasnt doing well. I hope it lives and turns around.
I ordered two plants from The Sill: a monstera and a pilea peperomiodes. The monstera arrived looking healthy and perked up into a beautiful plant within hours of being out of the box. Its doing wonderful and looks amazing in my home. The pilea had some mildew on the top soil when I unboxed it, which is usually fine - Ive ordered plants through the mail before. I scraped it off and checked to see how wet it was during re-potting a few days later. It seemed fine, but the plant has since lost two leaves and is really, really droopy and sad. I hope she makes it!
How nice (and different) for a plant seller to contact their buyers to see how the purchased item is doing. Well....I am really pleased with my Alocasia Polly. I thought that a 4 plant would be small like a starter , but my plant is about 12 tall and really full and lush. WOW. Pollys can be sometimes difficult to maintain, but I have been following the instructions included from the Sill and so far, all is well. So Im a satisfied Siller.
The plant was alright, just ridiculously overpriced—probably because of the ceramic planters, which I get, except that they substituted my planter for a style that I didn’t order! The Sill never attempted to contact me, but instead swapped out a planter that I specifically selected with some hideous looking one like I wouldn’t notice smh! I would’ve never purchased my plant had I known I wouldn’t get the planter I’d chosen. First and last purchase from these guys. Buyer beware and be ready to complain!
Amazing plant store really beautiful plants they have really helpful staff that can help you find any plants that you want ranging from regular flowers to very large and cool saplings did I mention the staff is really helpful? The slogan plants make people happy is the best because his true plants really do make people happy. I recommend jam who is an amazing staff member and he works tirelessly to make peoples plant dreams happy
Better to go to the store rather than ship! Great customer service. I had assorted miniature plants shipped but they arrived dead or close to dead. When I spoke to customer service they suggested I come into the store since I am in the NYC area. I came home happy with 5 beautiful healthy plants.
Had a plant delivered and it was dead. I purchased the insurance for the plant so if something happened on the delivery route it would be covered - emailed them a photo and they said they couldn’t do anything and then the route insurance company said that cold weather was out of their control. Total rip off, highly recommend on not using this and just purchasing a plant yourself from your local nursery.
I love how big and healthy my plant is. I am a little concerned with it getting enough light, since right after it arrived, so did our fall drab weather. I think I have only had a couple of days of sun since it got here. I do not have it sitting on a windowsill, since it is bigger than my window sills. I have been leaving one of my brighter lights on for it.So far, so good. It is still green and not looking like it is ill. I love having a green plant in my bedroom.
My Philodendron silver arrived looking a little wilted, and I thought it was probably from the shipping, so I put it in a pot and watered it. Ive had it for a week and most of the plant is dead. I think Ill be able to salvage a couple of leaves, but everything else just died. My Pilea is only OK-- some of the leaves turned black and fell off, and others seem to have been cut up, but I think it will survive. An overall disappointing shopping experience.
Love this place! A little pricey, but you get what you pay for- well kept plants, cute pots, great planting tips (+ theyll pot your plant for freeee)! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful!BTW!- With covid rules, only abt 3 ppl are allowed in the store at the time so the line outside can get pretty long (esp over the weekend), but its worth the wait! Make sure to check the weather or come at an off time over the week.10/10 recommend, I stop by a little more often than I should!
This is my second response, with no word from you folks. I purchased my anthurium online as a Mothers Day gift to myself. I really was looking forward to the red petals. However, I have been very disappointed in the plant. I will say it is healthy. However, it arrived with slits in several leavesas well as 2 slits in the petal. Also, the leaves are covered with water spots. At this price, I should have gone to the local greenhouse!
I love the Sill! I live all the way in southern CA and I was worried about getting plants in the mail. So far I have ordered, pilea, starfish, monstera, and zz. The Pilea was bigger than expected! It had a few brown marks on the leaves and a few days later a leaf fell off. The new leaves growing are really wrinkly. I am hoping the plant will make it because its by far my coolest plant. The starfish plant I received had two arms broken off:( The sill sent me a replacement plant right away along with a sorry gift (hoya heart) Wow the hoya heart is sooo cool. My monstera actually had a bunch of leaves broken off which was sad to see, and there were brown marks on the leaves. Overall I cant complain because the plants are traveling far to get to me! The sill has answered all my questions and has been more than accommodating in making sure the plants are perfect for their new homes. They are top notch with instagram too! Its the reason I bought from them in the first place. I hope to see some pink plants soon, like the pink rubber plant, calathea triostar, hoya tricolor, and cordyline pink diamond. I love plants with light pink in them cause DUH Im a millennial !
A really cute place for plants shoppers. It doesnt have very many choices but their plants are taken good care of and they even give you warranty on some types of plants. The staffs are experienced so basically your answers will be solved. And they are really friendly and patient. Recommended for plants lovers.
I recently ordered one ZZ plant, one Calathea Medallion and one Calathea Rattle Snake. The box had been tossed around during shipping and the Calatheas had lost a lot of dirt and looked very sad when they arrived. I gave them new potting soil and sprayed them with water and after about a week they were doing better. The only weird thing is that they perk up and look great at night, and during the day the leaves drop down. Isnt it supposed to be the other way around? :) The ZZ plant is doing great. Love them all and look forward to my next plant purchase.
I was excited to order a plant after checking out your website. The plant was ordered for friends as an expression of sympathy after their loss. The plant arrived disheveled - dirt out of pot and plant leaves damaged. My friend is trying to doctor the plant back to health. They would have never mentioned without me inquiring after their expression of thanks. I was embarrassed to have ordered something that didnt arrive in excellent condition. I regret not ordering locally. I called to report the damage and was directed to voice mail, which I left in detail...with no reply still after several days. Poor customer service and will not order again.
I love the plants, and they arrived safe and sound. I purchased several for the moms and grandmothers for Mothers Day (Im Nonna). They all loved them and everyone loved the heart shape of plant, including the ease it will be to take care of them. Nonna rocks in their eyes!
Very nice quality planting pot. It arrived well packed. The small Pilea Peromiodides arrived wilted. After potting the plant, it did not do well so I contacted The Sill about the health of the plant. Through my communication with The Sill Team I learned that I order a plant that needed more light than I could provide. Thank you Sill Team for your customer care!
My plants (3) Crotons, came healthy and have thrived. I was happy to see that there are new plans give us the say about what type of plants we need for our new jungles, because Im running out of space in my sunny spots. I need plants that are not dependent on the sun to survive. Looking forward to new plants every month. Love them.
My first delivery of plants is doing just fine (esp. the tillandsia) but the packaging was a disaster. I received a massive box with mostly empty space and soil spilling out everywhere. I wonder if there is an alternative to their current packaging system that might reduce space/waste and avoid soil spillage in the recipients house.
I normally shop the Sill online or go to the LES storeGenerally, its been a good experience. I decided to stop by the store today during the 10% off sale. It was chaos. The store is way too narrow to handle the crowd and line which was literally out to the door. But what was more disappointing was that they didnt prepare and pull stock from the floor that was clearly unsellable. Calatheas that were so brown and wilted they should never be sold or sold at a deep discount. I saw a number of other sad, questionable plants as well that have not been watered or seen light in that narrow store in some time. Next time you plan a sale, make sure the inventory is something you would want to bring home and that the store isnt so crowded you can barely move. If peole have to wait outside for 15 minutes oh well. Very unpleasant experience.
I was just getting into plant ownership when I found this site. Ive not only purchased some great and healthy plants from them, Ive been learning a lot as well through their blog and emails. This is one company I really dont mind getting emails from. I honestly look forward to them! Thanks to everyone at the Sill for creating such a great experience. :)
I received a gift box from thesill.com today without knowing who sent it. There was a translucent envelope inside my box, but no note. There is no phone number to call so I sent an email and I was told who sent the box to me.For some reason the email reply from Christy rubbed me the wrong way because it was implied that I just did not see who it was from. As if I am some ignorant customer who cant find it the note. I found the tone of the email so incredibly rude, and at first I was happy to have a new idea for gift-giving in 2021, but in the end, I am do disheartened. Also on the sill.com google search, they show a 4.5 rating out of over 1,300 reviews yet once you enter their site, there are no reviews to read and no way to leave a review. I find this very shady and deceptive.
Unfortunately, when I received the plant, it had been turned over and was no longer wrapped up. I assume it happened during shipping. All the soil was in the bottom of the shipping box and the plan was dead. I tried to revive it, but it did not live. The leaves were mangled and the roots were no longer in soil. The other plant that I purchased at the same time was fine and it is green and growing.
I came in for 3 african violets you did not have and bought one alocasia at $21 and a chinese evergreen which looks like a croton. Their prices are very fair for 6 pots and the plants look great on my brown window sill. I will be a regular. And they are right next to Orwashers bakery. Their selection was quite broad and diverse. I am disabled and they were very nice to me. Highly recommend.
Dont order online. Got a mangled, broken snake plant. Overpriced & it still hasnt recovered. Took pictures, and sent to the Company, but they said it should improve from the boxing condition -- it hasnt... its still broke. Order online if you want the challenge of trying to bring a plant back to life.
Walked in this week on my lunch break, was looking for a specific plant and saw one I liked ... would’ve been nice if the store clerk would’ve even acknowledged my presence there for the 15 min I tried waiting while she continued on a phone call the whole time I was there... when I got tired of waiting I finally asked if there was anyone else who could help and she still made me wait longer... had no choice but to leave. Very disappointing. I work with customers daily and no way in hell I wouldn’t put my call down to address a customer in front of me.
Upper West Side Store Review- Yesterday I went to return the damaged shipment as per as online rep Paris’s email but the guy who was working at upper west store around 7:30pm refused to do the replacement even though I told him I spoke to online team via email, I came all the way from Jersey with the box still big NO, I told him to speak to a store manger then he said she’s not picking his call, store manager is off during working hours?? Are you guys f in serious ??? Horrible customer service from upper west store!!
I love the feel of The Sill...online site was easy to navigate and search for the right plant for the right lighting. However, the ZZ plant came to me with some sort of disease. There are holes in the leaves that run vertical down to the root. I attempted to contact customer service and sent a picture of the plant via text. That was three days ago. No response. This bothers me more than having a sick plant.
Great idea and neat packaging, I was a little disappointing by the cost of the subscription vs. the 1 small plant I received. Working in hort i can respect the what you are doing to get people playing with plants! keep up the good work, i love your instagram and want to go to the store
I am pretty disappointed. The hoya heart plan started browning within a few days and has only gotten worse despite following water and sun directions.I am also a little bit unsure about the condition of the monstera. It has been seriously drooping ever since it arrived and the roots are now lifting out of the soil. It was also misleading as this was a young monstera so there are not split leaves as shown on the pictures on the website.
The plant I got arrived with black spots on some of the leaves. Those leaves dried up and fell off. With some TLC the rest of the plant picked up and theres even some new growth now. Im in the monthly club, so Ill keep my subscription a couple more months and see how it goes.
I received the Calathea: Medallion - Medium in the 7 Dolores Planter about a week ago. When I unwrapped it, several of the leaves were shriveled up. I let the plant sit and adjust for a couple of days but I ended up having to prune those leaves off. Im assuming this happened because of the weather; there wasnt a heat pack in with the plant. The plant still has three good leaves so Ill see how it does in the coming month.

2022-08-07Ive bought several plants from the UWS location of The Sill. I highly recommend them. The plants are healthy and have been thriving in my apartment. They used to have a better selection of planters when they first opened; now the selection is more scarce and less original, but I still love the store and the experience.

2022-07-09BEWARE IF YOU ORDER ONLINE AND LIVE IN NYC - THE PLANTS COME FROM NJ OR ALABAMA - AND THEY DONT TELL YOU THAT - AND IT COMES DAYS AND DAYS LATER FROM ALABAMA IN LOUSY CONDITON AND THEN THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE. THEY DO NOT HONOR WHAT THEY WRITE ON THEIR WEBSITE. THIS PLANT IS LESS THAN A WEEK OLD AND DYING EVERY DAY.UPDATE - AFTER MULTIPLE Emails AND COMPLAINING TO BBB - GOT A NEW PLANT - AND THIS ONE IS VERY Nice - BUT IT TOOK PLAYING HARDBALL.

2020-12-07Ive ordered from The Sill online and have had great luck with their plants. When I stumbled onto their actual store I was pleasantly surprised. All their plants area very healthy and in a variety of pot sizes. The pot selection is limited, but they do have all their colors and sizes in stock. They were very safe and only allowed one or two visitors at a time (the store is pretty small) which wasnt an issue for me. They include the information youll need to take care of your new plant and wrap it up appropriately for the weather.

2022-07-23Staff for helpful and knowledgeable, thougg selection was not particularly large. The store is expensive but they potted my new plant in the planter I bought with it and offered to repot/refresh it in the future.

2019-02-08I was worried about ordering plants online and figured that they would be falling apart/dead when they arrived. I was so wrong, these plants are beautiful! They were packaged very securely and even had hand warmers packaged with them to keep them warm while shipping to me. I ordered the Calathea Medallion, Calathea Rattlesnake, and a philodendron. I have had them for several weeks now and they are still gorgeous and lively!

2019-08-21Always a pleasure to order from The Sill! Am a repeat buyer and the plants always arrive healthy and safely and grow so beautifully. Just purchased the beautiful ZZ plant in the front. Also, the gorgeous starfish snake plant, the yellow tipped snake plant, and the philodendron are from The Sill.

2018-09-04I had an amazing experience with The Sill! I wanted some new plants since we just moved into a bigger place and looked around online a bit feeling a bit nervous about buying plants online.I ended up ordering 5 plants from The Sill because they were so affordable and there were so many great options. I placed my order on a Monday eve, they shipped the following day and arrived just a day later. Incredibly fast! They were all healthy and looked great when I opened the box. Now, a few weeks later and after having put them in new pots, theyre all thriving and adding a much needed touch of nature to our apartment. Cant wait to buy more plants soon!

2019-05-23Ive bought 3 plants here so far, two in store and 1 online, and all three are doing well so far. Both of my peperomias are growing nicely, and my moms aloe is doing well. Service is awsome and helpful both in store and via email.

2021-09-12I went a few weeks ago to buy soil for repotting. They sell an 8 lb. bag of soil for $22, which is super pricey. The soil does seem to be good quality, but after looking around I absolutely would never buy plants from here--so many plants looked diseased and poorly cared for. I would not risk infecting my other plants at home with a pest. Everything is overpriced. The staff were very helpful, though.

2021-09-09I went there about 9 months ago because I thought my plant was dying. It turns out it was only shedding because of the weather. But I bought a new ceramic pot under The Sill’s advice and they repotted my plant. Since then my plant has diminished. Then I looked at the new pot and realized that there is a singular, 1/4” hole at the base. ONLY. Which means there is no drainage! I’m livid. All this time my other plants have been thriving in their cheap pots and THE SILL sold me a very expensive pot which has only 1 hole which has been slowly killing my plant. Boo
