Not sure about the negative reviews and I really dont care. I get food delivered through doordash often and the food has always been amazing , tasteful , and fresh. Im definitely going to be coming in person to enjoy more of it ! The wings are incredible !! As well as everything else on the menu. In love with their food ! I need to come for bunch !
I dont want to make it seem like I didnt like the place. I did. I gave it 4 stars! My only gripe: They said everywhere that they had award winning Jumbo wings from a local competition. This place had good wings. Yes, they may have won an award. Im sure they did really, but for what exactly I am not sure. Maybe a wing type I didnt try. They also said Jumbo wings. They were not tiny, but they were average sized. Not jumbo. Not great wings.Im not complaining, I enjoyed the wings. But they just didnt seem Jumbo, or award worthy. I will say they were much better than I have had in some bars/pubs. Everything else was great. The place is OLD so it has a bit of character. Its been there since the 1880s I believe, and there seems to be quite a bit of original stuff. The best part was the patio outside. You could smoke and listen to some fun music. Jeff Searles plays there weekly. He puts on a fun show for a lone guy with a guitar.
In response to the last negative review. You definitely misread the crowd. I was at the bar and remember how you entered. Loud obnoxious, hooting and raising attention to yourselves. Of course the bar got quiet, you were looking for attention, you got it!! For you to blame others for your own actions, well is quite judgmental. All the bartenders are the most friendly, welcoming people I have ever met!!! As far as I am concerned shame on you for accusing racism. Look in the mirror before you judge. Maybe if you act like a human, you won’t get looked at strange and silence a bar.
This used to be one of my favorites places in Middletown. However the serves during the weekends are different and treat people very bad, the raised the prices and the way they treat you is different. I had to go and get my own mimosas every time because the waitress was to busy doing nothing, in the past they waitress used to come every 5 minutes and check if we need another round. But now they just stay on the bar and you have to come and get your our mimosas, I’ll definitely look for a different spot for brunch with my friends, this is not the good and friendly deal any more.
Stranger in a friends bar 1200 miles from home and she takes me to the best local bar Ive been to. Made friends immediately, karaoke was on point, food was excellent for the value and everyone was calm and no drama but smiles all around. Seemed like the after picture of John taffers bar rescue
I just moved to Middletown, NY a couple years ago. When I did, I didnt know anybody. I went to the Switch Inn one night and fell in love. Its an amazing local spot where everybody knows your name and makes you feel like youre apart of an amazingly huge family. Rhonda and Jess are spectacular at making you feel like without you, the place would be boring... even if theres 50 people in the room. The food is AWESOME 👌. Try the fried pickles!!!! Love you guys at the Switch!!!!😘😘😘😘😘😘
Love The Switch!!! Beautiful bar, great staff, great food, great live music! They are doing a great job with disinfecting and enforcing capacity limits, mask wearing when not eating and drinking, and social distancing. I felt safe and had a wonderful time! Thank you!!!! ♡
The service is stellar! Topped with a great friendly and warm environment. My dear friend used to called it “Home-base”, the reason behind this was that when you slid through the Switch Inn for any occasion you felt safe, and celebrated. From Karaoke to live entertainment or just to grab a drink and a bite to eat they literally have it all to their award winning wings 🤤 to the staff they keep. The Switch Inn is a hidden gem in the heart of Middletown, NY and I couldn’t recommend it high enough. If you read this and decide to go let them know Keith says cheers!
This is a awesome place. Very kind people and staff. I highly recommend this place. They helped me big time with the unfortunate suddend passing of my dad who was loved by many as the karaoke DJ at the switch in with party time entertainment. I am very grateful for all the love, help, kind words and support from the Switch Inn, its owners, staff and customers. Again I would highly recommend this place.
The Switch is a great place to go to. Its got a nice homey, quaint atmosphere. You can just go to have drinks or watch some sports, maybe catch a nice meal and their food is DELICIOUS. Great regular bar food staples plus many mouthwatering good homestyle entrees ! They also have karaoke twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays which is great fun and live music on Fridays nights. They have many themed parties for holidays and other events like psychic readings and art shows. There are 2 outside decks which are nice in the summertime too. The bar staff are wonderful people and friendly. Overall,The Switch Inn is a great destination!
Really a friendly place. We went as a large group and the went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Our server Sara was delightful. Our host Ron was wonderful. Its a small tavern with a great history. Food was good. The ladies loved the bottomless Mimosas. Thanks!
I would give this place five stars. The food is good, the vibe is good Jess the bartender is phenomenal. But Rhonda is the worst. She’ll lie straight to your face. You could walk in there stone cold sober and she’s rude. Other customers feel the same way. I’ve watched her kick people out just because she was annoyed while people were having a good time. She doesn’t need to work there. I’ve watched her start trouble with people for no reason whilst I was sitting pretending to mind my own business. Kinda sad for a local hometown bar.
The Switch has become one of my all-time favorite spots to drink, get food, hang out with friends and even to play music. Jess, Rhonda, Cathy and Sarah are all fantastic bartenders so it is hard to choose a favorite because they are all so friendly and helpful. I feel welcome here and thats great cause I need a familiar hangout spot.
Thursday’s at The Switch is always great. First because Cathy behind the Bar always with a smile and refreshing during, always remembering my order which is important because of my diabetes... then the buffalo wings... then real Buffalo Wings come out of Chef Nasyr’s Kitchen I mean BUFFALO WINGS and some comedy provided by Pat who wanders between PG and R how I like it.... and I am set.
I’ve been here before and experienced rude bartenders, inattentive. Recently gave it another try on a week night and experienced the opposite. Going to a place where you can have a genuine conversation is pleasant and appreciated. Service such as this is what makes customers want to spend money. I should have got the blonde haired girls name
Completely love the atmosphere of The Switch Inn, love the friendliness of the staff and how they are all very personable. They remember and greet you as family! I travel from afar just to enjoy the wonderful friendly atmosphere, service, staff and local people that come to The Switch Inn. The food, service and friendliness is top notch! Thank you all!
I was part of that big group so negatively reported below. I had a very different experience. The staff was friendly, and did a herculean job considering the number of people and that we needed separate checks. The food was good, the bottomless mimosas a terrific deal, and most of us had a wonderful time and would definitely go back.
Very very horrible place. They don’t care about their customers, I left a review about the service and their excuse was about COVID . I’ll never ever ever will back here. Thank you to the new people that works here during the weekend because of them I had the worst experience ever.
Bartenders Jess and Rhonda (for the real ones, Jhonda) are some of the most important positive forces in the local community and its impossible to overstate their influence. We are lucky to have such genuinely kind and thoughtful people serving drinks to us. I feel safe at the Switch, and by association Middletown, and its largely because of them.
This is a very awesome place to hang out. They dont serve Henny here which keeps out a certain crowd if you choose to have a calm night of drinking with friends and some pool. Unfortunately my favorite bartender will no longer be working here so I will no longer be going here.
Eighteen of us took over the dining area of The Switch Inn for brunch. The weather was rainy and nasty 🌦🌧 so we couldnt eat outside on the patio. ☹ However, owner Ron and Server Sarah were so warm, friendly and accommodating - Ron even brought out brand new tablecloths to cover all the tables we had rearranged into one BIG long table. 😀 The unlimited Mimosas 🥂🥂 were flowing, my breakfast burrito was amazing, and we all had a wonderful time. When we come back, Ron says hell figure out an unlimited Bloody Mary deal for those of us who prefer them to Mimosas. Yay, Ron! Yay, Sarah! Yay, Switch Inn! 😀

2022-05-04This past Saturday, the Switch Inn provided us with the perfect space to celebrate the life of my brother who recently passed. The food and drinks were great,, reasonably priced and the staff allowed us to decorate, bring our own sound system, and use their TV for a memorial slide show. Josie and Ron were INCREDIBLY accommodating and extremely helpful the weeks prior during our planning period. The support staff the day of were incredibly friendly and attentive. The Switch Inn is filled with warmth, good food, and amazing people. I am incredibly thankful we were able to host this tribute to my brother at this venue.

2022-06-21Had a surprise party for my sister here on Saturday. We ordered food from the kitchen in trays and it was literally the least stressful party I had ever planned. The bartender, Sam, took care of taking the food out when it was ready, food was great and hot. Such a wonderful atmosphere. The bartenders, Sam and Jess, were so professional and friendly and attentive to our needs. Never had to wait for a drink. Everyone kept saying how great the service was. They even took the time to change the propane tank out on the deck for the fire place so that we could turn that on outside. Overall it was such a wonderful experience and I will totally be back!!Thanks for making my sisters 30th memorable!

We used to hang out there and drink beers and eat the best chicken wings ever! Sadly he passed away but Ill always remember the fun time we had there. I think it was Jess? 2022-01-20Great little place…. The boneless wings are very good. The bartenders are very attentive, talkative. As a first timer the experience was definitely good. They have this signature drink it’s called an Enchilada or something, tell them to hold the lemon juice and add lime juice. Sarah rocks

2022-04-20This place had great reviews, so I decided to check it out. We walked in and there were two white girls behind the counter and a white boy sitting at the bar. Once my fiance and I walked in, the place grew silent. The two girls behind the counter said something amongst themselves and snickered. I immediately got the sense that my kind was not appreciated there. The atmosphere felt like Alabama during the 1960s. Sensing the hostility, I told my fiance we were leaving. If you are Black/Latino, Buyer Beware. There are other restaurants in Middletown that are far more welcoming and inclusive. To the girls behind the counter and management, please do better. Or, not.

2022-04-23This is a response for the previous reviewer claiming discrimination because of the way she and her fiance looked when they entered the famed Switch Inn in Middletown. First off I am 44 years old and have been going to the Switch since, well lets say 21. No matter what day or time you walk in that place and it doesnt matter who is behind the bar they treat everyone the same. Like a patron, a customer, and oh how about this a human being. As a matter of fact I was at the Switch a few weeks ago, just missing brunch, and the place was filled with people of all sorts of colors of the human rainbow. And you know what? The white bartender was fully engorged in conversations with all people in the bar. So take the last review woth a grain of salt. The Switch Inn has and will be one of the greater spots in Middletown. One of the final few bars that arent ran by corporate. Take care of all customers (as long as they are paying) no matter what they look like. So hit up the Switch Inn if youre in Middletown, they have amazing food, great staff, amazing drinks and some of the best conversations you can have

2022-04-23Regarding Conservative Caridad and their reviews, I have never had a problem at the Switch Inn, and I have been to many a bar as an outsider. The Switch Inn is a local bar that has cliques but no drama and friendly staff. I had to use this bar several times because the town I was staying in next door had little to no cell service, so this place was a necessity for late-night work and contacting my family at a difficult time. If you’re looking for the hip new Four Seasons bar in Middletown, New York rock, I find it, and this is not the place. However, if you want a staple of Middletown and Orange County history like Rock Fantasy, DeFilippis Bakery, or Tony Boffa’s, this is the place.Conservative Caridad Has seven reviews that primarily deal with race and insecurity issues, not verifiable facts. I review establishments that have impacted my life, both positive and negative. I use Google and Yahoo reviews to help with my decisions because most seem reasonable and honest. However, Conservative Caridad’s reviews seem to want to tear down businesses with false accusations and unsubstantiated issues of racial discrimination. If these issues did happen, I would happily boycott these establishments until they closed down. However, this is not the Switch Inn I know and have been to several times. I would highly recommend it if you are in Middletown and need something more than the hotel bar with obnoxious karaoke or the wants to be NYC club off North Street. The Switch Inn is just a local bar with a lot of history welcoming staff and customers who are friendly or mind their business. I highly recommend stopping by to see for yourself.

2021-08-13I went for the first time last night and I have to say its a very friendly and arms open kinda place where everyone knows each other and for those who they dont know they are kind and treat them just the same. The bartenders were wonderful! They took care of everyones needs in a quick and caring manner and they also made sure to check up on me when I started feeling sick 😂 overall a good spot with no drama or stress. -SunShine came back today 8/13/21 and its still amazing here, great drinks and wonderful food! I got fried pickles!
