I’ve been very hesitant to go out and eat lately because of the virus but The Texas Ranger is the perfect place to go to. My family has been going to The Texas Ranger for over 30 years and loves it. The staff is extremely nice, the food is delicious (especially the Special Burger and the Philly Cheesesteak), the onion rings and fries were made perfectly, and the owner Sam was lovely. He came up to our table and made sure everything was alright and checked up on us. He personally made sure that all frequently touched areas such as the counter, tables, bathroom area, and doors/door handles were always cleaned and sanitized several times which was very assuring at this point in the virus’s spreading. In addition to great food, there is great service, sanitation, and history. We will be back here very soon!!!!!
I order chili cheese fries and two expensive burgers . Came out to like $28. They didnt put chili on my fries and the burgers weren’t gourmet . Like as a burger store youre competing with Red Robin and Five Guys. I was upset because i had high expectations going inside. Woe is me!
Tasty, delicious burgers and hot dogs & more served up fresh just the way you like it.Old fashioned bottles of refreshing Coke and yummy shakes are the perfect compliments to the sweet and salty dishes served up here. Nice variety of sides & toppings too!No wait, easy parking, friendly counter service and comfort food. Cant beat that!
Stopped in For lunch yesterday, place was clean staff was friendly. Ordered the Ranger Special Burger as was recommended to me by the cashier, with and order of fries which is a huge amount. The burger was fantastic, the topping of homemade cole slaw, tomato and special sauce was so good and perfect. Different then most of the typical burger places around here.
Great little hole in the wall spot located centrally within Freeport. They have pub/diner style fare for everyone, so if a burger, grilled cheese, chili cheese dogs and a couple of milk shakes are your thing, you’ve got it all under one roof. Prices are very reasonable and the folks here are fast and friendly to boot!
Texas Rangers Burgers has been around for over 40 years but not in the same locations. It started in Freeport and moved around. Its a family business that has carried on since. What makes Texas Ranger different than any other restaurant is there Secret Special Sauce its like no other in the world. They cook each order as its placed never cooked before. Everything is fresh and delicious. Even though I dont live anywhere near the new location I still bring my family and friends. Of course they get the Texas Ranger Special Burgers (which are fresh and never frozen) they love it just as much as I do.
Ok we have tried and tried we order every week. Every time they mess up the order and we have to call in and have them redo the order. So we have to make the choice of not supporting them any more. Its not that we dont like the food. Just seams a little ridiculous that they can not get a order correct
This was the first and last time I will ever go there. The service was extremely slow to put it nice. The order that was placed was simple. However it took 45 minutes to receive that order. 4 people ordered after me but got theirs shortly after. Just a horrible experience.
Ive been in Freeport since 1962 . So its around for more tban 50 years ! Not 40 . Original owners were the Pappas family . Kitchen cook was Leroy and one of waiters was Calleja . Theyre Special Burger is the best burger in the world . I tell everyone . Been eating them since I was 6 years old by Cannon Taxi at first . Then at Rachels on the nautical mile until they stopped making them . Today I went to Rachels and sat down with a friend I promised to treat to best burger in the world . Then I found out they no longer made the special. So we promptly said sorry bad goodbye then went to Texas Ranger on bayview avenue and had my urge for the best , quenched. Great service too . Impressed my buddy also . Youre the best . Chile with cumin next time too . My name is George Romero .One of many biggest fans .

2022-01-21Tried out veggie burger. Liked the taste. Patty is well cooked and you can see the pieces of the veggies mixed in it. Cheese and the toppings (cabbage I think) blended well.

2018-05-08The owner Frank is super reasonable, great guy. Food is delicious and proved reasonably. The chili burger is messy but its well worth it (ask for the chili on the side if you dont want to get your hands dirty).

2022-03-31Ordered spicy wings. Had no sauce on them and they were way overcooked First time customer. Not sure if I would go back maybe I would try something else. They were very friendly and the place is clean. Maybe just a bad day

2021-09-26Im a VERY picky eater and extremely particular about the prep of my burgers. My burger came out well like I liked (no pink but not burnt) and my bacon was soft as I wouldve made it myself (not crunchy and murdered but not still oinking either). The fries were hot and crispy as were the onion rings. The food temperatures were able to withstand the ride home to Central Suffolk County with a pit stop for froyo on the way! I would definitely return if in the area again.

2021-02-03I used to love this place! Recommended to many people. However, the last FEW times I ordered (Jan 2020 to Jan 2021) my burgers had basically no sauce on it, the meat was dry and grainy. Since they switched to thicker buns it made it exceptionally harder to eat and I could not finish my meal. Their burgers USED to be nice and juicy with enough sauce. To the point where the switch to thicker buns was a good idea since the previous ones would break through. The chicken wings were dry and tough. The only thing that was good in the meal were the onion rings which unfortunately came cold even though I am a 5 minute drive away. Completely disappointed especially because the owner and staff were nice. Yea It’s that bad now. To make matters worse they raised the prices of some menu items. I preferred to give my money to a local business than a chain during these times, I myself was laid off during Covid but I can’t order from here if this is the quality they are now delivering.

2021-10-15My name is Mark Thompson the experience that I had tonight October 14th 2021.. First they drenched my burger in chipotle sauce !!!! super unprofessional and nasty. However I proceeded to go back to Texas Ranger once I got home & discovering the burger. 2nd They did not resolve my issue as a matter of fact they sent me back home with cold fries and a burger thats not well done properly & probably not even grass-fed which was semi cold as well. Im highly disappointed now they are known for good service and good food but tonight was unacceptable.

2021-05-22I ordered the fish sandwich. The sandwich was microwaved after it was fried. My lettuce were brown and hot. The bun was hot but hard (characteristics of being microwaved). I DON’t recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a fresh meal. If you want leftovers this is tour place.
