The Village Inn in other cities:
Amazing food! Lots of homemade deliciousness. Theres always at least 5 different to die for homemade soups of all varieties and a large menu with lots of choices. The pastas are my favorite! Their daily specials go above and beyond expectations. Save room for dessert theres a crazy amount of homemade dessert options as well! Awesome service and amazing food highly recommend!
Let me start by saying I had some of the most delicious food Ive had, well anywhere. The spinach and artichoke dip was our appetizer and the spices and just overall ingredients used in it were phenomenal, this was the best I can honestly say Ive had. For lunch I had a well done burger with bacon and it was extremely good, again the seasoning was just right and when I said no pink, there was absolutely no pink(which in my case, I usually end up with pink anyways), lastly I had strawberry cheesecake, as you can tell though this was my favorite part of this meal. The strawberries tasted completely fresh and the cheesecake was soft and tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend The Village Inn to anyone looking for a treat for there taste buds.
Whenever we visit the area from Rochester we have to stop at the Village Inn. I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always great, and the staff is always friendly. We love the character and vibe of this place as well. Some of the highlights are the Buffalo bread, the fish fry, and the beef on wick. Save room, because they have the best home-made desserts around... Huge portions as well.
Great small restaurant off the beaten path to go to after spending the day on the water or at Beaver Island State Park. The food was good and the soups are to die for! They have a full bar but only a few stools to sit on, so its not your typical huge bar. Id love to see what the layout of the house was before it got turned into a restaurant. Ill be back for sure!
Wow. Where do I begin?Ive visited several times now, so my review is from a lot of experience. The staff here is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the food selections. My fiance has a few dietary allergies and the staff is always willing and able to help her avoid the things that would make her sick. The food? Simply amazing! The roast beef is heaven on weck. The soups are great, the burgers are perfect.Yes, they can get crowded, but amazing food, outstanding staff and great prices make this a must visit restaurant.
Went there today for first time while we were on the island. It’s a cute little house/restaurant, we really liked the atmosphere and people. I had a special stinger burger and it was amazing, best burger I’ve had in a long while. My wife had a special chicken sandwich that was phenomenal as well. They had a nice craft beer selection too. If it was a little closer to home this would be my new go to restaurant.
If you like a burger as much as I do then youll definitely want to make a trip here! By far the best burger I have ever tasted!! My girlfriend had the haddock and let me tell you I dont even like fish and that was amazing aswell! The service was just as good as the food was. Nice, friendly, genuine people. To make it even better the Inn is completely family run and everything is made in house!!P.S. they have cheesy garlic bread, and its better than Paynes restaurant!!
Took our son and his family for lunch. This is an old converted house with beach deco. The bar is right inside the front door with tables in the other room and kitchen in the back. French onion soup and pizza rolls were ordered and arrived hot and promptly. The pizza rolls were tasty and the soup had a ton of cheese and thankfully was not salty. However, although it had good flavor, it needed more onions. Spinach and artichoke dip was a very large dish and they accommodated the request for toast points instead of chips. Several sandwiches were ordered including beef on wreck, seafood on a croissant, and the beef with fried onions, mushrooms and cheese on a hoagie roll. All were tasty and good sized portions. Chicken parmigiana was a huge helping of spaghetti with a full chicken breast. Even the chicken tenders with fries was a large full plate. Everyone enjoyed their meals and carryout containers were needed. They did not rush us at all. It was a very enjoyable lunch. It is off the beaten path but worth the trip.
Good stuff. Would definitely go again. This is a little old house type of place turned into a restaurant(like so many older places in Buffalo seem to be.)Id been having Fish Frys, Beef on Weck, and Wings all over town for a week before I came in here- so I had the meatloaf with a cup of the spicy lemon clam chowder as a change of pace. The Soup was tasty, and the big piece of Meatloaf was good as well.No complaints. Next time Im back in town Im looking forward to trying other things on their menu(like their Fish Fry). And the old school round Bevador fridge behind the bar was a curious, cool conversation piece.
One of the best places Ive had the pleasure of enjoying. We were on a family vacation to the Niagara Falls and wanted a laid back restaurant to celebrate my mothers birthday at. After looking at previous reviews, we gave it a shot. It was spectacular! The food was outstanding, we had enough for two meals out of each serving. The service was excellent, our waitress was very friendly and gave us some tips on the area. Overall superb place!
Very good food, however, beware when ordering an entree. It will come with a salad, which normally would come with a dressing of your choice, at no extra cost, most everywhere else. Some salad dressings cost .75 extra at the Village Inn, and you will not be informed of that when you order your salad with your entree. I was surprised when I saw the charge on my bill. Since when do you pay extra for salad dressing on your salad? I feel that if you order a dressing that has an extra charge, the server should inform you of the charge.
See edit below....Good food and prices. Love the small town feel.EDIT:New menu, significantly higher prices ($14 for a Caesar salad, really??? This isn’t California). Grilled chicken was bland (no more Cajun or lemon pepper option). No more bread with an entree.French fries are still delicious, so that’s a plus? It’s not the Village Inn I grew up with anymore. :(
Fun little place that has a lot of great meal options available. Dont shy away. Go, go, go, try the buffalo IPA and wings! Great wraps and I would definitely try again. Super friendly locals coming in and out, so ask their story if you are so inclined. Very eclectic crowd.
This was, by far, the worst experience I have had at any restaurant. I am ok with the one star rating because the atmosphere is nice... Close to the water and in a homey setting. Aside from that, I felt that everything was a bit overpriced when looking at the menu, but figured that it would be ok if it was fresh and good food as everyone else has rated it.Before we get to the food, the service was severely lacking. Everyone was nice, but they seemed to lack any idea of how to provide service. My party wanted to spend more on drinks, but couldnt and we sat with empty glasses for a while. We had to request drinks as the waitress walked past us.Now on to the food: we each ordered something different... Steak, fish, wings, chicken salad... The best thing was the wings, but how do you mess up mixing frozen wings with Franks and butter? The broccoli, shrimp, bread, and seemingly even the steak was out of a bag in the freezer. I would guess that the microwave is a key component to the kitchen.Back to the service: when we finally asked for our check, I saw an extra charge for something that was supposed to be included. I asked about it and got a laugh from the server... Oh yeah... Theres an upcharge for that... Sorry I didnt tell you. She takes our checks and goes to stand by the register to talk to the other employees for a bit... Then she grabs her phone to starts to text before she finally realizes that she forgot about us and rings us out.I have never left $0 for a tip until tonight. I would not recommend this place to anyone at all. A combination of the cost of the food, quality of food, and lack of service does not make up for the atmosphere of the restaurant.
ITS OK, WALK IN! THE FRONT DOOR IS A LOT MORE RUSTIC THEN YOUR USE TO, DONT BE SCARED!Im from a different city, so I was VERY hesitant to walk in a place that looked small and unkept, not what Im use to. But the inside was very homey....in the best way. The menu had comfortable but unique twists on food.Reminded me of a Ma & Pa family atmosphere, but the kids are grown and theres no need to hide the alcohol anymore.I left full and satisfied. I think more small towns need places like this, to help restore faith in venturing out and trying new resturants. Im going to keep this place in mind for next time
The Food is Delicious,Amazing Cooks, Great Service, Cozy Atmosphere, and Affordably Priced!! I had the 1/3 lb. Fresh Hand Pressed Hamburger(added Bacon) with Lettuce and Tomato. Cooked to your liking. It was seasoned and Cooked Perfectly! Out of this World Good!! I would like to mention they Have an Addictively Delicious Award Winning Beef on Weck, and if you Love Soup The Village Inn is second to none for Homemade Delicious Soups. They have Their Own Unique Creative Recipes! Daily Specials featuring those Innovative Creations and the most exciting Menu I have ever seen! House Recipe Beer Battered Fish Fry(Baked or Breaded also available) Wednesday and Fridays. Delicious House Featured Dressings,House made Spinach Artichoke Dip, Fried Pickles, Johnnie Ryan Soda, and Undeniable Innovative one of a kind Homemade Desserts made from Seasonal Ingredients. Outdoor Seating Area, Kids Menu, and Vegetarian Options. The Village Inn is Proud to Support Local Business and Farms.Just a Great Restaurant!! Easy to See and Taste Why they have been in Business 30 Years, and Won Awards for their Dishes. I Highly Recommend The Village Inn. A Culinary Gem.
The Village Inn Restaurant is located in a nondescript, yet historic house in the Ferry Village section of Grand Island, New York. However, dont let appearances fool you - behind its quaint, cozy exterior hides an AMAZING eating establishment. My wife and I, not being from around the area, decided to take a chance on this restaurant for our 25th anniversary dinner, and it was the best decision we made on our entire vacation. We knew we were in the right place when we heard one of the waitstaff explaining their homemade pie selection to someone on the phone (more on that later). We each had the special - I, the authentic beer battered Fish & Chips platter (with fresh haddock that could have been mistaken for a salmon steak for its size), and she, the Black & Bleu Cajun Chicken Alfredo with penne pasta. We both got the soup to go with our meals. My cream of broccoli soup was melt in your mouth savory, and my wifes Cajun seafood chowder was the perfect complement to her pasta dish. Both, of course, were homemade - a common theme with all of their dishes.Dessert was kind of a mixed bag. My original selection, the key lime coconut cheesecake, was a bit disappointing as it was somewhat dry, but our server, Jeannie, rectified that quickly by coming back out with a piece of key lime pie (she told me it wasnt on the menu but was made that day) that was one of the top 10 pieces of pie that I have ever eaten. Moist, tangy (but not too tangy), and with a homemade graham cracker crust that oozed love in the form of butter and sugar. (As a native Floridian, I consider myself a bit of a key lime pie snob, and their pie was a high form of culinary art.)Meanwhile, my wifes peach pie was very good, but it was the homemade folded pie crust that made her literally weep (it reminded her of her late mothers crusts that she would roll out). I forced myself to eat my whole very generous pie slice in one sitting, but she had plenty of her peach pie left over.To make a very long review short (too late, I know), the Village Inn Restaurant on Grand Island is a true diamond in the rough, and a must-dine establishment if you plan on a trip to Buffalo, Niagara Falls, or anywhere else in NW New York State.
Brought my family here for diner on a Saturday evening after reading the reviews from other diners on trip advisor. Having spent the day @Niagara Falls we were looking for good food at a reasonable price. the place is near the end of the street in an older house converted to a restaurant. we found parking along the road as the lot beside it was full. the place was packed. we waited about 10 mins for a table. My wife and i had the fish diiners. Wow!. thats a plate full for $12. my wife also had their homemade soup. She enjoyed it. they brought bread with butter before our entrees. The 4 of us ate very well for under $50. (my wife an i each had a beer which accounted for $10 of the tab) I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some good local fare at a reasonable price.
This place has gone through many transitions. Used to be great, then went through a period of five years that it was dirty with terrible service. Seems to have come out of that phase recently though and is back to being clean with good food and service. Glad to have it back as a viable option!

2022-04-02An intimate little venue that is a Grand Island staple with delicious food and fantastic service. Their fish fry is spectacular and its easy to see why it was voted the best of 716. Great beer selection and the side dishes are on point as well. The food was also brought out fairly quickly and the staff treats you like youre family while youre here. I came here growing up and almost 20 years later, its still just as great as I remember.

2021-11-13The Village Inn is a great place for friends, families, couples, or to have a drink or bite to eat by yourself. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable, and the wait staff is always as friendly as could be.My favorite part of the menu is the desserts! They are always homemade (just like the main menu) and never frozen or store bought. There are so many choices and change with the seasons. This is a place where Ive never sent a dish back and always left full. I stop in once a week or every other week when I dont want to cook and want a homemade meal. I cant say enough positive things. Its been around for many years and is a staple on Grand Island...and for good reason!

2022-06-13I’m on a fishing trip and the guide recommended “The Village Inn” to eat and it was fantastic. The wings were some of the best, if not the best, and I had Carrot Cake for desert, and it was the best I’ve ever eaten. The staff was very efficient and extremely friendly and the food didn’t take long at all. I would highly recommend this place if anybody was in this area. The menu has a big variety of food items to choose from. Highly pleased with this great restaurant.

2022-05-24Went with my 3 cousins after checking out thr Buffalo Launch Club for a baby shower. We could have ate there but someone suggested check out The Village Inn and Im so glad we did. Its an out of the way small restaurant, the place was packed. Three of us tried the crab bisque soup and it was hands down the best soup ever, loaded with crab and creamy, absorbed delicious. Everything that followed was just as good. I cant wait to go back 😊

2021-05-25Played golf at Beaver Island with a couple local guys , Mike and Dave. We are from FL and don’t know the area so we asked for a recommendation for food. They told us you couldn’t go wrong with Village Inn. They we right this was a great place. The burgers were the best I have had, they had some beer on tap and their Key Lime Pie was delicious. If you find yourself in the area of Buffalo or Niagara you need to stop.

2022-06-13Usually a great meal and always friendly staff. However this visit was disappointing. The my table those who ordered fried shrimp - it arrived visibly burnt and tasted burnt. The vegetable side was grilled asparagus, which was also burnt and tasted burnt. My meal choice was steak and cake - petite sirloin and crab cake. I should have asked how cakes were made. So thats on me. My Crab Cake was filled with chunks of green pepper and topped with an aioli sauce. I should have asked. Sirloin was ok.
