The Wagner Hotel in New York
Arrived after was told my original hotel could not accommodate my family. All staff members were super friendly, and accommodating. They remembered our names and after a day of adventure asked about our day and offered additionalassistance. View from the room was spectacular with telescope to look at Statue of Liberty. Would happily stay here again.
Very nice place to stay. The beds are very comfortable. The staff are excellent in every aspect at the establishment. The location is very quiet yet excellent for getting around NYC and Brooklyn. This may be the best hotel in nyc relative to cost. I did not use the gym but did check it out and it was a very well equipped gym for a hotel.
Cant say enough how much I enjoyed my stay at The Wagner/ Ritz Carlton. Staff was superb and really made us feel like royalty. Rooms are HUGE especially for New York standards. Bathroom was luxurious. Location was perfect. I felt extremely safe walking this area. One of the cleanest areas of NYC. Views are breathtaking. Highly recommend this 5 star hotel.
The hotel is very well clean. It looks up to date and modern. I think its more like a 4 star not 5 because there are certain things that our room did not have such as a fridge, compared to other 5 star hotels I have been this hotel nearly touches a 4 star. The staff were nice and helpful but again if it were a real 5 star the staff would offer help with luggage. Again this is what I think. The area were it is its really nice and its the last tall building on the south which makes it feel you have open air space to breathe and look at the statue of liberty and other views.
One of the best hotels in lower Manhattan.Service is top notch. Free water bottles everywhere, not a hair or dust to be seen, and quality is phenomenal. When I think of hotels in NYC (especially ones that Ive stayed at), I think of cramped rooms with minimal space and corners cut here in there in terms of service and tidiness. However, for the Wagner Hotel this is different. When I think of 5-star hotels, I think of great service, cleanliness, and well-thought out spaces in terms of the entire experience. I booked the standard room and there were a number of amenities that I wouldnt even have thought of that were available here: mouthwash, robes, bathtub with minty bath soap, separate walk-in shower, shoe shine service, and even a telescope to help you look at the night sky. There were free water bottles everywhere and towels aplenty. Bed was huge and supportive - something I despise in other hotels is that the beds seem old and too soft, resulting in back problems. Not here. The space was well thought out with many outlets and plugs as well so I was not searching for a plug that was convenient - instead the plugs were placed in locations that made sense.Staff was extremely attentive, always opening doors when you walk in and out, greeting you as you entered, and welcomed you back after a long work day. I really enjoyed my stay here and I dont think you could ask for a better experience in terms of the amenities and service.Come stay here for a true 5-star experience.
This is my favorite hotel to stay in the Financial District for work if Im visiting. The rooms are spacious, it includes a robe, separate bath tub and shower, and sometimes theres a telescope aimed at the Statue of Liberty. Its also close to the metro lines.Ive always received great service here. You can borrow umbrellas on rainy days and rent bikes too!
This place is Incredibly amazing! The Harbor View Suite is the perfect suite for everyone, with the amazing sunset view. I stayed in that room for 3 nights and I was surprised by the size of the room! All the staff were very friendly and helpful and everything about the experience was excellent. And I like the location very close the Battery Park Esplanade, Delight in the spectacular Hudson river view when you prepare for a freshy brewed New York adventure. And please take note that when say a room with a view they mean it!
Wonderful stay. Our room faced the water with a tremendous view of Statue of Liberty. The rooms are large and just wonderful, smelled so fresh and clean. My son loved the telescope and especially the deep bath. The beds were so comfortable, pillows perfect. Staff were five stars. We loved it!!
I just can’t say enough good things about this place. Some have said it was “dated” to me it was vintage. When we arrived, we were greeted by Nino who is a bellhop/doorman and all things in between. Nino is probably the greatest asset to the staff of The Wagner. All the staff was helpful, very nice and polite but Nino went out of his way at every encounter we had with him. Anyway, my wife gets to the desk to check in and we were given a complimentary upgrade to a room with a view of the Statue of Liberty. The hotel interior was clean and beautiful. The room was spacious and the view breathtaking. Housekeeping was always near and they even offer turn down service! The bathroom was very spacious with separate room for the toilet. Stand up shower and large separate tub. Place the do not disturb on the door and they don’t bother you at all.....if not then every time you leave your room, you come back to it being sparkling clean!! I could go on and on about the amazing staff and lovely rooms but I think you get the picture. Now to the reason I did not give it a 5 star. The restaurant. It was beautiful, clean., staff was amazing but way over priced even for Manhattan. We only ate there the first night because we didn’t want to get back out after a long day. The food was tasteless. We just were not fans and we left hungry even though we did finish it all. They do not have coffee pots in the rooms but offer complimentary coffee at the bar (self serve) every morning from 5-9 (5-10 on weekends). The coffee was great but the only day we were able to enjoy it was on the day we were leaving.....we were on vacation and didn’t want to get up extra early. However, there is a quaint little coffee shop across the street next to Pier A Harbor House Restaurant. All in all, I would definitely stay there again. Lots of things are in walking distance and what is not is easily accessible by the subway. (2 stations within a couple of blocks).
Was so excited to book with Wagner. I saw they were under renovation, but when I called their front desk, they said they would have someone reach out to me within 24 hours via cellphone and 48 via email. I emailed twice over 2 and a half weeks and ago as well as called twice and left messages. I still havent heard from them. Needless to say, we wont be staying at The Wagner.
It was a lovely hotel with a doorman and well laid out lobby and restaurant. It was very cold in New York so I ordered room service breakfast the 4 days we were there. The food was good and the service was great. The room was well insulated and the bed very comfortable. The large bathroom had a shower, bathtub, and enclosed toilet. The water was hot right away and room service was very good. All the staff were friendly and polite so I have no complaints. They had a really nice gym with showers.
Location was great, right next to battery Park. The room was relatively clean, and the view of the statue of liberty was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If you want to use the bikes you have to get them early. Price was reasonable for the city. Stayed on the way up the coast and liked it so much we stayed on our way back down again. Would book again.
I have been to many 5 star rated hotels in the United States and around the world. The Wagner truly delivers on its 5 star rating. Everything from the room, the food, and most especially the staff were amazing! The room had a breathtaking view of the harbor. The room included a telescope to see the Statue of Liberty and an amazing skyline for a sunset! We interacted with the staff many times and they deliver 5 star customer service! Special recognition to the in room food service for setting up a nice birthday surprise! Will go here again!
We had the best time here! Huge rooms over looking the Hudson. Definitely buy the breakfast included option, worth the money! Call around the hotel for parking garages to find the cheapest option. They upgraded our king room to a suite for free and the people were very helpful and polite. Great location. Just overall a good experience
One of the best hotel stays we’ve ever had. Our booking wasn’t showing up in the system and it took a few minutes in the back office for them to find it. It wasn’t any inconvenience to us as we weren’t in a rush but they upgraded our room to a top floor room with a view of Battery Park/telescope for viewing the Statue of Liberty. The room was incredible, the staff were always friendly and courteous and we had a great time at the Wagner hotel
The Wagner was a wonderful experience. The staff were extremely helpful to us and super courteous. Everything was clean and fresh. The room (and view) was exceptional. I would give it a 5 out of 5 if only it werent for the wifi (which was absolutely horrible and without it there was no service at all), the fact that there was no fridge (though the room looked like it should have one) and the wait time to get an important delivery in their main fridge. Other than that I would absolutely recommend this hotel and will be back sooner than later. Thank you Wagner at the Battery. You guys were exquisite and have a wonderful property!!!!
Its hard to imagine that this elegant hotel is in New York City where most hotels have cramped rooms, blocked views, rude staff, slow elevators and musty smells. This hotel, the Wagner, is an escape from reality. It is perhaps the most elegant hotel in the lower part of Manhattan and has unparalleled views of the Statue of Liberty, the Battery, and the waterfront. But that is just the beginning of the experience of staying at the Wagner hotel. Their staff is magnificent, the rooms are impeccably appointed and quite comfortable, and anything that you need will be attended to instantly by this group of top professional hospitality experts. If I could afford it, Id live in this hotel!
The Wagner hotel was an absolutely magnificent experience. The hotel staff including Yajaira and Kevin were incredible. They were beyond helpful and very accommodating. The perfect way to spend your Valentines Day weekend. The views from the room which was the statue of liberty view room was incredible. The room was clean, comfortable and functional. The bathroom was immaculate I had all amenities ready to go. I will 100% be staying at the Wagner hotel again.
Negative issues:* Parking rip-off : They charge $70 for overnight parking but the actual price at the garage they park your car is $33.79. So youd save a lot if you arrange your parking yourself.* Unprofessional staff: We booked a table at their restaurant to celebrate our daughters birthday and our wedding anniversary. We especially informed the chief that it was a special occasion for us and we would be in wedding dresses at that night. We, even, decided on the table wed sit. When we arrived there, we were expecting an ornamented table but they were not aware of the reservation at all.Positive issues :*Clean rooms*Very good hotel location and beautiful scenery from your own window
We stayed for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. The room was spacious and the bathroom was just fab. The views are just what made the room and the view of the sunset over the bay was great. It was the staff that made the biggest impression on us..nothing was too much trouble and they helped make our stay so special. A big thank you from us!
Immaculate rooms with great view(even had a good quality telescope in the room. Could see all of lady liberty 😍) wonderful and helpful staff. I highly recommend bringing a bathbomb with because they have amazing tubs!!! The rooftop patio area was a nice place to sit and enjoy the sunset as well :)
We stayed in a lovely king room with great service! The room was clean and spacious, the amenities were great, and the service (housekeeping, in-room dining) was impeccable. The fitness center was also very organized, with everything youd need to get a light workout done.
When you walk into the lobby, it smells wonderful. I wish I could stopper it and take it home! Comfortable rooms with beautiful views. Nice executive club with scheduled light culinary presentations. And most importantly.. In every encounter.. FRIENDLY STAFF! I cannot recommend the Wagner highly enough. Thank you for a great stay
We arrived with a vehicle that was absolutely not built with NYC parking in mind and the manager Richard was beyond understanding and helped accommodate our unique situation so that we could enjoy our one night on The Battery with our young kids rather than spend the evening looking for a separate parking lot. Then the bellman brought our kids up a plate of cookies as I believe it was apparent they were exhausted from a long trip on the road. We regretfully had only one night at your beautiful facility but will definitely be staying with you again on our next trip to Manhattan. The only bad news is that the top notch service may have ruined other hotels for these kids in the future! All the best,The Doyle FamilyFountain Inn, SC
I had to pay $40 per day (plus tax) for 2 small bottles of water and wifi, I did not need either. The room had no refrigerator. The hotel staff were all very pleasant. The carpet in our room could have used a deep cleaning. The ceiling above the shower appeared to be falling apart. I noticed some smalls bugs in the bathroom. Maybe they came from the shower stall? Also we found a dirty sock in our room that was not ours so I am not sure how well the rooms are cleaned in-between guests.
Amazing Hotel located in Battery Park Downtown Manhattan Financial district. The Wagner has amazing views to the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty, the rooms are extremely spacious with a bathroom that has a stand up shower, a tub you can actually take a bath in and the toilet is offset. Staff is friendly and some have been working there for over 15 years. Best part, its away from all that noise in the mi dr town. After 9pm it becomes very residential; great for family and tourist since its right across from Battery park where the ferries including the Statue of Liberty cruise tours. Its just a 15 minute walk to the 911 Memorial and other amazing spots. Its a 5 minute Walk to National Museum of the American Indian, direct across the street from The Museum of Jew Heritage. Amazing location for pictures.* Their Statue of Liberty view rooms have telescopes in them!!!!!!!
For the price and location the rooms could be updated. The room I booked was specifically listed as a room with a view and telescope. Upon arrival I was located on the 3rd floor (barely clearing the tree line) and no telescope. They did bring a telescope upon request. The room was also very hot. Thermostat said 60 but was still blowing in hot air. I had my window open the entire time. Hotel food and bar were very expensive. Valet parking was a nightmare and expensive.
This is a very nice hotel in the city, with plenty of amenities available. It is conveniently located near parking, subway, etc. There are plenty of things to do nearby as well. The staff here is very polite and helpful. I would definitely come here again. The views from here are nice as well.
From registration to bellhops and bartenders, everyone was fantastic! I had a room facing the Statue of Liberty and a telescope to check it out. The room was amazing and the bathroom even better with a tiled shower and bath for those want to partake. All in all, was extremely satisfied at this hotel.
We stayed at the Wagner for 6 nights. Upon checking in, we were offered an upgrade which we took. Whilst the views are magnificent, the rooms are outdated and old. The upholstery on the furniture is in dire need of cleaning. There are stains in the carpet. I don’t feel cleaning everyday was done well - there was dust left on the bedside tables and surfaces generally. Upon checking out, we were hit with facility fees of usd40 a night which we were not made aware of. Almost three weeks after our stay, I have noticed that there are still pending charges of usd600 with the Wagner hotel on my card. I have requested the Wagner hotel authorize the release of these monies however have not received a response to my email almost 5 days ago now. I would not recommend staying here.
I stayed at the Wagner for a night and I was surprised by the size of the rooms. Unlike other hotels in Manhattan, the rooms at the Wagner were spacious with a great view. My room was clean and welcoming and also had a telescope! The bathroom was quite large and I appreciated the separate shower and bathtub.
I am a Hotelier travelling with my family, it is four of us and the services, room cleanliness and attention to detail are outstanding at The Wagner Hotel. Well done I even met the Hotel Manager Mr. Axel Spektor in the liberty lounge, amazing profesional world known Hotel Manager; when you book the Liberty Suite you have continental breakfast, lunch snacks and dinner snacks included which helps specially when you are with young kids travelling. I love my coffee in the mornings nespresso it is included in this lounge top notch meanwhile in The Pennisula was an extra charge of 12usd. Just amazing and for sure will comeback.
Wonderful property, my favorite location to stay in NYC. 24 hour room service, beautiful views of statue of liberty, lovely room and great staff. Had nice dinner in 2 West and cocktails. Perfect thank you walking area around harbor, walked everywhere 911 memorial, trinity church, charging bull, NYSE all way to Brooklyn Bridge, courthouse etc. Loved it
The staff is very pleasant and full of helpful information. The hotel is superb and the beds are wonderful. The location next to battery park is 5 star worthy as well. Having a nice place to walk early in the morning and evening that is easily accessible is wonderful. Overall excellent in every way.
We stayed for 5 nights and had a fabulous time. Recently rebranded from the Ritz we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and had a 12th floor room with a perfect view of the bay over to the Statue Of liberty. In all honesty the room was a little worn but very clean, staff were a credit to the company, very polite and attentive. Prices are a little expensive for food and drink however there are so many places within a short walk you will never be short of options. A1, we would stay again.
Outstanding!! My spouse booked us a Liberty view room (basic w/King bed), and it was breathtaking. Getting to watch the people stroll though Battery Park, enjoying the ferries going by- the view alone was amazing. The bathroom was phenomenal (not to mention the aweomse Malin + Goetz amenities)!! The soaking tub was comfortable, deep and enjoyable. The staff were wonderful. We were able to get our outfits pressed for our show over on Broadway within an hour. Felt like a million bucks!!The bed was incredible: topper and pillows were amazing, the duvet was so snuggly. The darkening curtains probably could have let me sleep 20+ hours, but with the view of the harbor and Lady Liberty, I dont thing we bothered to close the blinds really. The towels were numerous and the bath robes- OMG those robes....plush and amazing!!Plenty of cups in the room. Hair dryer was in great condition and worked well. The only bummer (and and Im really being nit-picky here) for both my husband and I was the lack of a mini-fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Wed have loved to keep and reheat our left overs from dinner, and to have a quick cup of coffee before we started trekking the city. The staff was absolutely amazing and kind, so much so that even after being insistent on having the staff exit the elevator before us, they flat out refused.I cant say enough about how wonderful a visit and stay it was!! Thank you for fabulous memories!!
Called and made reservation with the hotel. I called back 8 days later to cancel and it is non-refundable. I shared the agent on the phone never shared that piece and my email confirmation is also missing that piece of information. Knowing my travel plans wherein flex I wouldnt have booked it. Be careful when booking.
Absolutely furious. Was told one thing by the reception lady last night and then was told that was a lie this morning. I was told I could keep my Harbor view room for my second reservation and just add a roll away bed for my guest. I asked about a charge or if there would be any problems and was told not only would it be ok but there would be no charge. When I called front desk to ask for the roll away, I was informed it would be $65 extra dollars and basically told I was out of luck. I now have to check out and switch to a double room. This is an absolute shame and a scam by this hotel to gauge me for more money.Let’s talk about room service as well. They charge $6 to deliver and then add an automatic 18% tip. Without mentioning this to me, I provided the lady with a $10 tip to bring me a piece of cheesecake and milk for $49 !! I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS HOTEL. I will be leaving this review on every website I can find.
Great rooms but beware everything you do costs extra money. Incase the price of the hotel wasnt enough you will get charged for everything. We pre paid for the hotel before we got there and were only there to sleep, we left with a $45 “facility fee” that we were not told about previously. It included the “free” wifi and turn down service which is normally complimentary at any other hotel i have visted. We also had a do not disturb sign out and someone got into our room to try and clean while we were trying to sleep.
The room was nice, the view is awesome. I am displeased with the restaurant due to the face the staff ignored me the first day because I dont dress like a pretentious douchebag. I sat for 15 minutes before member of the staff asked if I needed anything. I told them that Id like to order food and he asked are you sure? I proceeded to order the European breakfast and an espresso. After my espresso was finished another 20 minutes go by before I am checked in on again. Ill be staying at the SOHO next time I come back to NYC...
Beware, $40 facility fee per day PLUS taxes on that amount. Its a made up purchase they force onto their guests, thats why the amount is taxed. The rooms were basic. No fridge. Ice machines broken on 10th and 9th floor. A mess under the bed. Shower ceiling in need of repairs. Stained carpets. No hot water kettle available, no complimentary tea or coffee in the room. Free to go coffee in the restaurant. This is not a 5 star or a 4 star hotel. The rating may be from a long time ago but definitely not what it claims to be.Positive: nice, clean, and comfy linens, the beds were super comfortable, the housekeeping staff were excellent and extra nice.
My room was ok, I had a great view but the window in my room would not latch properly so there was a constant howling noise. They also charge really high resort fees which I find to be insane considering the rooms cost so much. I also ordered in room dining for breakfast one morning and was less than pleased for the amount of money paid for it. The customer service overall was great but they really need to re think on how much they are charging people especially for the incidental fees. They say FREE wifi and free water but thats absolutely bogus because they stated thats what the fees was for. They charge you for every little thing even if its meant to be free. And the staff have been trained on how to word things but honestly they just make it confusing on purpose and make you feel that the explanations have you running in circles without actually explaining anything. I definitely will not return or recommend anyone to go there unless they have a bunch of money to just throw away. Ill be sticking with the Ravel or Boro hotel from now on.
This former Ritz-Carlton location has maintained the class and ambiance you would expect from one of the best pieces of real estate in New York. As expected, the rooms were clean and well bedecked, while the restaurant (though a bit pricey) offered a enjoyable selection of items.
Here is my honest opinion of The Wagner Hotel, take it or leave it. I stayed at the Wagner for 5 days and honestly, I regret not staying somewhere else. The views are great, but amenities are lacking. Internet is insanely slow, dont even think about even trying to use Google Docs. As a web developer, this place nearly put my job in jeopardy due to its horrible connection. My room key stopped working 4 times, locking me out and forcing me to go out of my way to the front desk for replacements, where I was told this is a common issue. As for the rooms, theyre okay, but a little outdated. My biggest issue is no outlets near the beds. The large bathrooms are a big plus, but the towels are old, overwashed/overbleached, scratchy and uncomfortable to use. What happened to the old days where 5-Star hotels had soft, fluffy towels to dry off with? Food is overpriced (especially for tiny quantities) and service is lackluster. The staff is generally nice, however some customer service reps were a bit standoffish during me and my associates check in. If you care more about views than amenities or service, stay here. If you have any online business to take care of during your stay, I beg of you, stay somewhere else.Also... The photos above are heavily photoshopped. The statue of liberty is much farther away that it shows in those photos. As a final note, the telescopes are garbage and their tripods even worse. When paying as much as youre paying, you should have better telescopes the ones offered.
We had a large wedding which was held nearby at the Battery Gardens Restaurant. We (I am the father of the bride) reserved a block of rooms. We had a WONDERFUL experience here. Kevin was always there - from getting our bags from the car - to getting us more ice or water. Now - maybe this is because I tipped well - but the whole crew deserved it from the chamber maids to the people at the front desk. I had lived in NY 3 different times for about 15 years - about an hour north - and I dont ever recall visiting lower Manhattan. WHAT an AMAZING place. The location of this hotel cannot be beat. The views of the water and the skyline... The food in the hotel is excellent as is the bar. But - a couple blocks away is an AMAZING deli - the Cucina Liberta... It is an experience just to go in to the place... I hope to go back to the Wagner again one day.
Wonderful stay at the Wagner Hotel! The view was just amazing overlooking the harbor and the Statue of Liberty. The rooms were spacious and clean with a telescope to get a closer look! The hotel and all of the staff went out of their way to be helpful at every turn. Our main objective in going to the city was to ride bikes along the Greenways and over to Brooklyn. We rented performance bikes from Blazing Saddles the first day to make a trek over the Williamsburg Bridge to Lukes Lobster (outstanding) in Brooklyn. Went back over the Brooklyn Bridge which was absolutely crazy crowded on Saturday. The second day, we took advantage of the Hotels free bikes and rode up the west side of the city. The bikes were three-speed cruisers that were just great for a couple of hours. We brought our bike helmets, but they offer use of those as well. Emmanuel helped us adjust the seats, and make sure our bikes were working properly. All in all, we couldnt have enjoyed our stay more!
Really nice place with very helpful staff. Everybody at the housekeeping and at the breakfast- crew were friendly and made everything you can think of to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Leo and Sal at the Lobby- area really made the New York hotel- experience unforgettable for us. We were also lucky to have Ardjak as our chauffor from hotel to JFK. :)
Beware - the Wagner hotel does not disclose additional fees that will be charged to guests. They will charge a fraudulent Resort Fee which can cost a few hundred dollars.Very sneaky practices.Although the doorman etc are lovely staff, the Management and reception staff are absolutely atrocious and treat customers like dirt. The hotel interior is also quite dated and old for the prices they charge.I would not recommend the Wagner Hotel to anyone who stays in New York city.*UPDATE - We have just now recieved our funds that were held up by the WAGNER on a credit card. Why does it take over a month to release the funds??Wagner - you committ fraud and are crooks and I will tell everyone I meet to never ever stay with you. Deceitful conduct and appalling behaviour.
This used to be a lovely hotel when it was a Ritz Carlton, but it has gone way downhill. The service, particularly the hotel manager, is not customer friendly and the rooms haven’t been kept up. There was a mouse in my room on one of the days in the hotel and the room wasn’t very cleaned very well during my stay.
Wagner was one of the few 5* hotels in Manhattan priced @ $150 per night in March. I was expecting a boring business hotel in a really boring location. But the hotel still has some NY charm to it. Rooms and lobby are nice, the staff are really well trained for tourists. I didnt feel it off place as a tourist.Battery park is still a decent location. Close by you have Staten Island ferry, Regal cinema, and decent coffee shop (Inateso café). WTC is a few stops away. 2 mins from hotel is a really good view of Statue of Liberty. For the price, I cant fault it too much.
BE WARNED, the hotel will sneak a $40 daily “resort fee” on to your bill. This hidden fee is bad for several reasons:1. It artificially lowers the per-night price of their hotel rooms vs competing hotel that are more honest and transparent in their pricing2. It makes guests feel nickle-and-dimed and hurts their employees because you are less likely to tip staff.3. The fee is not disclosed when you check-in and the fee covers items that are either free or given for a small fee at other hotels such as coffee and WiFi.4. The fee policy is penny-wise and pound-foolish. I’m sure it’s padding revenue in the short term but damages the reputation of the brand in the long term.I suggest you spend your money at other hotels that are more honest and transparent in their pricing.
Left something in the room. They asked me to send them a shipping label. Not the service I would expect from a five star hotel, but rather a two star hotel. Given that they charged over $400 in service fees above and beyond the hotel charges, one would have thought that the hotel would be able to manage this sort of thing.
Stayed a night here and si far it is the worst hotel experience for me. The aircondition wasnt working, USB plugins were broken, and breakfast was served after an hour wait on table that too the order was mixed up so another wait of 20 min. The servers had a problem in understanding English and were cobfused, sone had attitude issues. Overall terrible experience, not recommended at all if they dont work on the issues soon.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED our stay at The Wagner Hotel. Check in process was very quick and easy. Luggage was brought to the room in a very timely manner. I have to mention that Akther made our stay very enjoyable... He brought up our luggage and immediately asked if my boyfriend and I would like to switch to a room with a better view...free of charge!!! Beautiful rooms, gorgeous views, and extrodinary customer service. Thank you Akther and Wagner Hotel. Will definitely be back again (:
This is not a 5 star hotel. Upon arrival, there was nobody to help me with my bags or to even open the door. What kind of 5 are hotel has no bellmen or doormen??? They charge a resort fee of $50 per night and don’t even have a pool or jacuzzi or gift shop. It is highway robbery.
This is a tremendous bargain; spectaculor locatiom, overlooking harbor and Statue of Liberty. Ridiculously low price for such large rooms and suites for the price; ; always black cars and taxis available; staff is great, most have been there longterm. Make sure to ask for the 11th floor club as a throw-in when making rservation. Business or vacation, cant be beat. Great for families.
Just had a stay on 7/25/19 - 7/27/19. The staff there didnt notify us that they do room turn downs. Being from out of town we didnt know if this was even common knowledge. Staff went through my wife purse and stole money. Upon returning to the room 4hrs aftercheck in. We noticed our room had been altered we notified staff and they sid nothing at all.
Stay elsewhere. Was great when it was the Ritz Carlton but no longer. The new owners are now trying to maximize profit at the expense of service. For example, they now charge a mandatory $40 resort fee. The front desk described this as a tax to me. It includes:-- Internet (which is slow)-- Two small bottles of water in the room-- Health club-- Turndown service (only on request and they do not tell you this service exists or what it is.They also do not disclose the extra fee until you check out. Very sleazy.I have stayed here three times and am now looking for another hotel in this area. I come here often for work.
This is the old Ritz Carlton in Battery Park. Although the rooms are quiet and nice...the service (once you check in) is sub-standard. I tried calling the hotel directly once I had left for the day to ask a question about the spa, and was disconnected 3 different times. The lobbies, halls and rooms all need updating. One of the bright spots was the bartender, and one of the lowlights was the slow and expensive overnight parking ($70)!
It was a big mistake when I decided to stay in this hotel. The last day of my stay my card was charge with bigger amount that was supposed to be. When I came downstairs at the reception they explained to me that it was due to the hotel policy that they charged extra 100 USD per each day as an insurance in the case if I used something from the minibar or anything else. However, when I checked my reservation paper this extra 100 USD per day was not mentioned anywhere. So, I stayed 4 days and 400 USD seemed to be too high to be blocked on my account. I was explained that this is a pre-authorized transaction and the difference would be back on my account in next couple of days. I didn’t argue with them since it was my first time in States and thought that it might have been an American thing to do. However, what a surprised I had when today afternoon I opened my account and found out that the hotel charged me again with almost 2,000GBP! So, my account was deducted with 2K and more than 2K are still in pre-authorized transaction and I have no clue when the pre-authorized amount will come back to my account (in case if it comes back…). If you have unlimited money source that can be blocked for an unspecified period of time, of course, this hotel can be a option where to stay. But I believe that it is not acceptable when a hotel behaves this way.
I cannot get a response after asking for the receipt of my stay emailed to me. I have called several times and was transferred to the accounting line and left messages. I have emailed The Wagner from both my work and personal accounts with no response. I need the receipt for business expenses and it is taking too long!If you are staying here for leisure and the need of a receipt is not required, then this place is really good. But I stayed here for business and need a receipt to turn in an expense report. No luck in getting my receipt emailed, nor reaching anyone who can or willing to help.
Same thing happen to me with other previous hotels in the same area we booked a room paid for it got a confirmation number told them we just need it for 1day to rest due to us being there for the weekend and once we got their suddenly they say there is no rooms available! I don’t get it i paid almost $150 have a confirmation called in before arriving and now u say this!
Formerly the Ritz Carlton, then the Wagner took over, and now it is rumored to be for sale again. It is lovely inside- same decor as The Ritz- very clean and comfortable. The food is good, but not great, overpriced hotel fare. Sadly, the waitstaff service is terrible - the waiter we had does not belong in a 4/5 star hotel- very unmotivated, slow, and forgetful.
This hotel is beautiful and when you pull up in front someone will take your car from you, and watch it for you for $20, they have a nice lounge where you can order drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and they are right by the water so you can enjoy some good views from the hotel
I was just on phone with customer service person and she was rude and provided no information to me. Everything that I asked whether it was rate discrepancy or discount offer for using specific credit card as mentioned on website, her answer was I am not aware of that instead of looking into it. Just not a conversation I was looking for!

2022-03-30My wife and I were meant to have our wedding at the Wagner Hotel in April of 2020. The staff had been great to work with leading up to the event and we even had our tasting in February 2020.Due to covid, our event was postponed and then cancelled. The venue has since been impossible to communicate with despite many attempts and we are owed tens of thousands of dollars!! They even went so far as to sign a settlement agreement months ago, but are refusing to pay us or to give us options for an event. They remain closed; We have no new information and are at a loss given we have neither a refund nor an option for a new event and aren’t about to go and spend more money re-planning. Our wedding event experience has been absolutely ruined given these circumstances.

2022-03-12Still waiting for my deposit back from my cancelled 9/18/2021 wedding. Myself and my legal counsel have been ignored by our several attempts to reach out. This is abhorrent. Bad enough my wedding was cancelled on Easter Sunday, but to be ignored when trying to reach out for my deposit refund is simply inconceivable.

2022-01-06Good morning, wonderful this hotel, before it was a Ritz Carlton Hotel 5 stars S.By very high class style, the design by absolute luxury comfort, with a spectacular view to Battery Park, to Wall Street Quarter and to city to new Freedom Tower. Then on strategic location and on one of the best locations in all metropolis of NYC. The courtesy is surely that of the categories of hotels 5 stars by very big level

2020-02-07My wife and I stayed there February 2020 - off season. We got into town early from JFK, stopped by first thing to see if we could check in our bags before we explored the city for the first time. Christopher at check-in was 5 stars excellent. He managed to locate a room for us early, facing the water, in an upgraded suite right there. We didnt eat at the hotel, but the food service appeared to be good if a bit pricey for our taste. We also didnt use the room service or maid service while we were there, but I imagine both would have been excellent. The room was clean, large, and had a nice telescope to look out across the way to see Ms Liberty herself. Ours had a silent fridge that I didnt even know about till I was leaving - yes it was that silent. Complimentary waters were good.We slept well.Subway, financial district, and the public bus was close by and convenient. The best thing about the room for me was probably the shower head, and water pressure. It felt so good after a day of exploring.

2020-02-19As soon as we arrived to the hotel at 9:30 AM we were greeted and welcomed. They held our luggage and helped us figure out which subway to take uptown to get us where we wanted to go. The view from our room was amazing. The rooms are a great size and the bathrooms are larger and nicer than most hotels. Please know we got a “normal” room. It’s right by the water so if you can see the Statue of Liberty lit up at night. It was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. I just can’t say enough about how kind all of the staff were to me, my husband and 13 year old son. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!

2019-07-17This was one of the most pleasant experiences of my life. I felt like royalty staying at The Wagner hotel in NYC. Theres no doubt in my mind this is one of the best hotels in the world. My check in took a few minutes more than it probably should have, so they upgraded me to a room worth twice what I was paying to make up for it. Staff is extremely friendly and spark up conversation. The view cant be beaten by any hotel Ive ever been to. I could see the statue of liberty from my room and an incredible view of the water. The food is incredible. I cant say enough how much I enjoyed this experience. If youre thinking about staying here for a special occasion, honeymoon, or just to treat yourself... DO IT! You will NOT be disappointed!!!

2020-01-24THE SERVICE has been absolutely amazing, by every single person that I have encountered. I’ve paid $1400 a night to stay at the four seasons so many times in NYC, and literally I can’t tell the difference between there or staying here for 7-nearly 10 times less. Every single person from the doorman to the front desk staff ensuring that I have a bottle of water without me even having to ask every time to the housekeeping crew that has been absolutely amazing. I’ve lived in hotels, literally lived out of hotels for the past 10 years since I travel so much, and this place has really impressed me. I highly recommend it for the service, the great bathtub I am actually soaking in as I type this, and the location is ON POINT. I will DEFINITELY STAY HERE again. Probably my favorite hotel in the city now, because of service alone! Thanks everyone - y’all have been so great. Also, Wagner hotel...you should complement your entire staff. Past two days have been amazing.

2020-02-21Friendly, understanding, professional staff. Our room had a magnificent view of the statue of liberty, and a telescope to look at it, which sparked our effervescent minds. The rooms were pristine, with comfortable beds and high-pressure showers. We had purchased the free breakfast option when booked the hotel, but on arriving to the restaurant we quickly learned that what we thought was free breakfast was actually a 35 dollar voucher, countering the statement on their website saying it was a 44 dollar value. We sorted this out with the receptionist, so all was well in the end. Food wise, the restaurant was amazing, with delectable eggs and such. I would highly recommend the eggs Benedict, some of the best Ive ever had. In terms, of location, it was one of the best, being close to all kinds of restaurants, sightseeing, and bars, as well as being close to the subway.

2019-09-01A very good hotel, but not a 5 star hotel. Check in was slow, had to have key to room remade two times before the key would work. View from room of the Statue of Liberty is great. Restaurant was quite good. The chair and carpet in the room need to be deep cleaned or replaced. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
