I honestly thought that my stay here was going to be amazing but it was honestly awful. The bartenders were awful to me and the hotel pushed a $30 per day surcharge on me without any notice. When I called to ask about it, they hung up on me. The service here is absolutely disgusting. Do not support an awful hotel like this. They truly ruined my vacation. Their nice rooms don’t make up for it. And of course to top it off, their housekeepers will walk in ur room without knocking at 8 in the morning. Really hating this experience!
We visited on 1/8/22 for an overnight trip to Manhattan. Great location 1 block from Times Square and also 1 block from the Majestic Theater on Broadway. We were disappointed that The Foundry bar located inside the hotel was already closed when we stopped in at 11pm Saturday night (1/8/22) especially since the website as well as the sign at the entrance door to the bar indicated they were open until 1am. We were really looking forward to finishing the evening with a drink there after taking in a Broadway show and some touring on foot. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous and the atmosphere is good. I imagine we would probably stay there again.
Positive: I had an extraordinary stay! The view from our spacious, light-filled room was breathtaking, and the staff took great care in making up the room when we would leave during the day. Cant beat the Times Square location~ the world at your feet! Will return. Negative: No complaints~ will be staying here whenever I come to the city.
I would avoid it. The rooms are very dated and old style. They are decent sized though. Being a platinum member, I was upgraded to Junior suite (Using suite nights), but the suite was nothing but a larger room. No floor to ceiling windows as you would expect from properties at this level. The service is simply missing. When we arrived, there was no one at the check in counter and had to wait a few minutes before someone showed up. They have a separate desk for Bonvoy members but I almost got yelled at for waiting there and was told to be in the regular line. They charge you $30 destination fee per night which apparently can be redeemed at their bar/restaurant but no one tells you that it has to be redeemed per day - so you cannot redeem $60 if you stay for 2 nights. You have to redeem 30 each day. Not a big deal if other things are ok. The location is excellent. However, there are multiple Marriott properties in similar price point around. I have stayed at the Renaissance and the Marquis and both are much better. Not Coming back.
For the price, I expected a lot more. At first glance the room seemed nice enough, but the first night of a four night stay, I noticed a pile of finger nail clippings (not ours, by the way) on the bathroom floor under the toilet paper dispenser. They were still there on our last night. On closer inspection, the bathroom floor doesnt look like it has been mopped in a long time. One of the hand towels had large patches of no fuzz, and they left it there for three days. It took two days before they stocked the room with washcloths and three before they provided sweeteners and creamers for the coffee (at least it was Starbucks coffee they provided). In getting a plastic cup for water, there were two cups (which are supposed to be in sealed plastic bags) that were already opened but put back in the torn open bags. I assume the windows must be single pane because it is NOISY. We were on the 15th floor, but it was as noisy as if we were on the first. We were awakened a lot through the nights by sirens, motorcycles, loud cars, and loud music. The location was great for being near the theaters, food, and shopping. The staff person who checked us in was very friendly.
Positive: Location, helpful staff, comfortable room, view from our windows, beautiful & interesting art/decor in lobby - terrific!! Negative: The glass bathroom door was a little uncomfortable for our family; even though the door was frosted it was still a bit too revealing (teenage boys). We may have booked two rooms instead of one, had we known. Not a big deal.
I stayed here for 8 days middle of March. I was initially booked into another hotel but a month before my holiday virgin changed my hotel. At first I was upset thinking it would be a disaster being close to time square. OMG this hotel is AMAZING!!!!I was in room 3731 and had a view of the empire state building. The room was huge. So clean and newly decorated. I was blown away.Housekeeping was brilliant......a special thank you to Shirley......she left me a bag of towels and toiletries one day when I put out do not disturb. What a kind thought.Check in was fast and easy and everyone I spoke to during was stay was kind, polite and helpful.I had breakfast 3 mornings and it was lovely, it was expensive but I suppose thats NY for you.My room was quiet but I do wear ear plugs when I sleep so that helps.I always felt safe, and my goodness the location is amazing.I flew into jfk and got to the hotel via the subway it was that easy. If I could afford to stay here again I definitely would. Its 1 min from the subway and port authority.I was travelling alone and never felt scared or vulnerable. The buzz was incredible I loved every minute. I even saw a show which I wasnt planning to do but I felt so safe being out after dark I went for it.I had the best holiday ever.
Great location easily walkable from Penn station if your arriving by train. 1 mon walk to time square. The room is a standard type hotel room, beds were comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is awesome . It loss a star cause of how clean the room was. The light switches were not cleaned a few stains in bathroom and all ledges were dusty. Bedding was clean and fresh and so were towels. Nothing unusual but I expected more from a Westin. I took care of it myself, I always wipe down with Lysol light switches, handles, remotes and side tables. I would/will come back to this hotel it was an overall great time.
The best part about this hotel is how well-located it is. Right in Times Square, you cant really beat it if you want to be in the hustle & bustle of NYC. The hotel itself is okay. The escalator was down the one day but they gave no instruction how to get out of the building otherwise. We ended up figuring out how to go out the fire escape with another guest but maybe some signs directing guests would help. The cleaning was definitely not up to par. We found socks and some garbage from the previous guest under our bed. And finally, there was two of us in the room but one complimentary water bottle. There was no additional water given each time the room was cleaned either. I called down to the service line 3 times for water and each time they said someone was coming up but no one did. We ended up walking to CVS to buy bottles of water ourselves, just seemed unnecessary and inconvenient given the price of the room. Will not be staying here again.
Excellent place to visit I highly recommend it get in line for the new Elvis movie. Its not really about Elvis is more about the individual actor whos portraying him he does outstanding job but as far as the hotel yes its an excellent hotel. I mean what more can you ask if youre in the center of the world you feel like everything is just right there the Broadway shows the pizzeria the food the 7-elevens. Times square
Quite a nice hotel! It has escalators and elevators, plenty of seating, a restaurant, gift shop, all the goods.I was here on a choir trip for our school to go to Carnagie Hall, it was very nice.there were about 20 people total, and we were all in groups of 3-6However...many of the hotel rooms have bathrooms that SLIDE open and shut, and dont lock.Additionally, the paint on our bathroom ceiling, 1136, was peeling slightly, specifically at the shower. This is probably forgivable, however.
I came to stay at the hotel as my husband was there for work. At front door, the revolving doors wouldn’t accommodate a stroller for my child so I went to the. ADA accessible doors which were heavy and I had to pull the stroller in by the front end as concierge stood there looking, not helping. Then I had to remove a roped gate placed awkwardly near door just to get inside - again, no help provided from concierge just 10 feet away. Upstairs in lobby the parody continued when I approached the front desk clerk and told him my husband had left me a key to the room. His response with snide laugh preceding was, ‘I HIGHLY doubt that.’ (Excuse me)? ‘We are not the type of business that keeps keys at the front desk for people.’ I personally loved it when he looked up my husband’s name and in fact, two keys were waiting for me. No refrigerator in room. No room service. Walls are paper thin and at 7:10 am I enjoyed the full phone conversation of my next door neighbor as loud as if he were in the room with us. Folks - I’m not a tourist. I’m a New York City resident who stayed at a hotel one night because my husband had work in times sq.Please take your money elsewhere. This hotel needs some work.
Stayed here during a recent business trip to NYC. Great staff and clean rooms. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room lost one star because it did not have a fridge and there was a clog in the bathroom sink. Both minor things, I would definitely stay here again.
Good business hotel to stay. The room was very clean and spacious. The view from the room was nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. Really good fitness center, but no pool. Times Square is around the corner and everything you need including subway and restaurants are within walking distance. WiFi was free with Marriott Bonvoy program. Overall good experience.
It’s very hard to find a good hotel with a decent size room and great service in NYC. However I highly recommend starting at the Westin Times Square. The location doesn’t get any better but the especially the service is second to none. The staff are great and very helpful, but especially Terry Bauer and Jenny Ahn, have gone out of there way to ensure me a pleasant stay. I have already stayed there and staying there again next week. Usually in these big chain hotels there is no personal attention to clients, however they have made sure to give me that personal and individual attention, especially Terry. I highly recommend for you to stay here and you’ll know what I’m tanning about. Thank you to both of you for making my stay s pleasurable and memorable one there 😘
I usually stay at the Marriott Marquis, so perhaps I was a little bias. Its a great location, but the hotel itself doesnt offer much. The staff is mostly friendly and helpful. The luggage check in guys are amazing. I did have one incident, a staff member saw my family leave, and I had a dnd on the door. I came back quickly and while I was in the room she came in. The dnd was still on the door, and she asked if I needed water. She had no water or cleaning supplies at all. So why was she there, and why did she enter? I was pretty upset, and the front desk did say they would talk to her about it. They didnt assure my safety or follow up about why she was coming in the room.
This is a great location and everything about this hotel is great except - the light in the bathroom is a sensor light so it goes off when you take a shower, thus you have to move the curtain to get it back on, a little annoying, and then it lights up the whole room if someone uses the restroom at night. So lights in bathroom go off when you dont want them too while your in the shower and come on when everyone is sleeping and you dont want them too. Last little note is where the electrical plugs are I the bathroom and the room. Bring a long charging cord.
Visited December 21 from the UK for our first ever trip to NYC. We absolutely loved it and found the hotel to be incredible. The views from our room were superb, with a corner room giving us views over to times sq, broadway and the river. Good sized rooms that were clean and tidy. The location alone sells this hotel to me. We had tickets to a broadway show and it took us under 3 minutes to get there from leaving our room.
Great location and view. Comfortable beds. Clean. Long waiting for check-in 20 min. Bathroom doors in twin room should be insulated and should not have glass window - the problem is I was waking up my roommate. No quiet place to make calls - lobby always with laud music.
Lets break this one down.Location: Convenient but not too close to Times Square noise and traffic.Building: Nice and well-appointed in common areas.Food: Restaurant was way too small for a property of this size. Felt really crowded in both restaurant and bar. Breakfast was $34 and beer was $11. Drinks were around $18.Room: The room on the 32nd floor (told I got my Elite Gold upgrade!) was in bad shape. Lots of scuffs on furniture and stains on walls. Air conditioning only worked at the coolest setting (65 degrees), and housekeeping didnt refill our shampoo and soap when it ran out. Bed was too soft and pillows were all shapeless blobs.Summary: We paid alot for this hotel because its a premium brand. But there were so many basics that were wrong that we wouldnt stay here again. The room was definitely not worthy of the Westin brand name. Really disappointing, Bonvoy.
This hotel atmosphere was pleasant, the Westin staff are friendly, my disappointment was there was no refrigerator and microwave in the deluxe king room. I have never not seen these amenities within a hotel room; my significant other and I werent able to warm food or store food/drinks from outside which was a huge inconvenience. Also, the nightstands within the room werent throughly cleaned, I noticed dried beverage residue on the counter tops; furthermore, there was no room service or a pool, and there was a lack of lighting, the room was always super dim even with the picturesque windows. I did appreciate that this hotel is located in times square, but the room I booked is overpriced for the lack of amenities, cleanliness, and design. I had high expectations for the Westin hotel at times square, but they let me down.
This review is for our stay Christmas Dec 2019. We stayed 2 days 1 night.Pros: great location! You are in Times Square, easy walking distance to all major attractions. The view was not bad either. One one window we had a corner room so we had a decent view of times square and the other window overlooked some new construction structures. Check in and check out was super easy and staff was friendly and welcoming.Bed was ok not the greatest.Con: mini fridge was stocked barely had room for any of our personal items like water and drinks/ no microwave in the roomRooms are old! Bathroom was old but ok. Not the cleanest but it was ok. They gave us a free hat and gloves when we checked in.Bed was ok; top bedding looked like it hadn’t been cleaned yuck gross.Great for a one night stay wouldn’t recommend for anything longer. It’s not that comfortable. Is it worth the price? No.but it’s times square so be prepared to overpay for everything.
First I will speak of my arrival. I arrive after 10p to the Westin after a long flight from Dallas. Looking forward to a nice bath in a tub and spacious accommodations. I had booked the Grand Deluxe Corner room...I was told my room was not available and I ask why because it is what I booked! They proceeded to have excuse after excuse...1. They didnt know I was coming in late. 2. I booked thru a 3rd party so not guaranteed. All unacceptable. They then proceeded to attempt to put me in a smaller room and give me a $50 credit for the hotel. I stated this is unacceptable as I booked for more space because I dont like to feel closed in, and a bit claustrophobic. They said sorry all they have...I again said No. I have to go thru my cleaning procedures twice and $50 is nothing. Finally was put up in a suite which still didnt have the tub I wanted but was spacious and offered $150 hotel credit. Finally this made things a little better. The next day I was called early as I was getting ready for my NY adventures. Guy stated my room was ready and I said ok and they would send key up and take care of luggage. Waited over 20mins and had to leave for day. Once I finally arrived after throwing up and feeling horrible. I had to wait to get my keys. Once in my room it was great...tub, great corner view. Spacious.Restaurant stated closed at 1130pm but last call was at 1101p...just crazy...I come to NYC at least once a year. Also, the riff raff right by the hotel was alarming. I dont want to be harassed about change on vacation from dirty strangers.
I did a last minute trip to NYC and booked my hotel room on Expedia. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the door men on the ground floor. They were professional, polite and very helpful. They directed me to the second floor where I was able to check in. The lady at the front desk was just as friendly and professional as the guys downstairs. She was able to give me a room upgrade, which was great because I was able to get a room on the 10th floor which is more away from the street noise and the room had two queen size beds. After I checked in, I was able to park my vehicle down the street at a discount rate as I was a guest of the hotel. I simply dropped off the vehicle, got a ticket and was able to pay 4 days later. It was $50 a night, which is a great price for being two mins from Time Square. The hotel was at a great location, it was clean, friendly staff, the washroom and room was a good size, and I was a few mins away from Time Square. If you are looking for a hotel, try this place!!! Highly recommended!!
Would hv gotten 4 stars or more but accounting issues just spoilt everything. Was told I was entitled to $30 and $10 per night credits for f&b and laundry charges. If I didn’t use them I would burn it. So I did as recommended. Final bill included all the extra charges. There was no credits applied to the extra charges. Best part accounting department never picks up your call. So be warned about staying here.
Great location but rude ignorant staff. Definitely not all staffs are ignorant and some of them are nice but those two I talked to were rude maybe due to tiredness. The location is great but do not accept any rooms on 20th floor or lower since you cannot sleep because of road and construction noises.Rooms are small but generally clean.
I am not one to complain and write bad reviews, but our experience with the Westin this time has been extremely poor. They charge an undisclosed discovery fee every night for an additional thirty dollars. This fee can be redeemed at the restaurant. They basically make you give your money to the restaurant or you lose $30 a night. Staff is rude all around. The waitress complained about us when we only ordered two drinks and a cake. They never picked up the phone when called, and when they did, they hung up. You have to pay at least $17 a night for internet. The headache is not worth the location and you will find other hotels in the area with a better price and service.
The hotel is beautiful but the front desk area is a bit dark. My family and I were not greeted by the bell stand at all which I believe it’s extremely important. The hotel has an outstanding front desk staff and concierge. Both were extremely helpful and had amazing smiles. The rooms are very updated and has great Starbucks coffee available. The bathroom in our room had some yellow stains on the interior frame but I didn’t bother to call and complain because we had the children.View was amazing and loved the huge TV in the room.
Positive: - So clean. - Exceptionally quiet at night - Great views of the Hudson and skyline - Its just around the corner from Majestic Theatre, so its great for an evening show - The Eatery across the street is really convenient Negative: - The person checking me in was very friendly and fast but on the phone with someone else through the whole check-in process; that wasnt cool - Room service isnt offered at this time - Housekeeping was way too loud in the hallways in the morning
My family and I visited New York for the first time in our lives, and I choose the Westin hotel simple because everywhere we go this is the hotel we stay in but this Westin is by far the WORSE HOTEL we’ve stayed in. I’m an African American and we were discriminated the minute we stepped foot inside of this hotel. The doormen didn’t help me or my kids with our luggage, nor greeted us at our car, but they definitely ran to the white people cars and treated them as if they were the owners. The bathroom was nice but inside the shower there was hair on the walls and on the floor of the tub. When I called down to the front desk they insured me that someone was coming up but the hose keeper didn’t come until the NEXT DAY. When I ask her was this the room she normally clean she said yes proudly. I walked her into the bathroom and showed her the hair and she begged me not to call the front. I felt as if she was nice I still have her a tip. This hotel charges a resort fee and could be used at the bar/restaurant. I decided to go have drinks the waitress was so rude she talked down to us. My brother ordered a drink and my and my sister ordered food and drinks. Any question we had for the waitress she act as if she didn’t want to help us sit 3 couples down after us. By the way her name was Steffany. She was definitely the WORSE serve I’ve ever let serve me. I have a list of things I experienced while staying here. I didn’t receive the top service as I should have nor did my concerns matter to anyone at the hotel. Not even the hotel director. This place should not hold the Westin name. The treatment I received is expected from a 2 star hotel not at 4.5 or higher star. Customer service should be the first priority also the way the guest is treated. I have everything on video and I’m willing to release this video! I wish this hotel could get a 0
Great location for us as our main goal was seeing multiple Broadway shows. Subway station right arround the corner to easily catch the E train to lower Manhattan. $24 continental Breakfast was basic and uninspired... chose to eat out after that. The Foundry bar was a nice way to end most evenings and spend the mandatory $30 credit that is charged to each room daily. The gift shop was disappointing in that it only carried NY items like every gift so on the street. I was going for westin branded items like most other Westins that weve stayed at. Our room was on the 33rd floor with amazing views!!!
Positive: Rooms where very clean! Negative: Did not like the $30 a day destination fee! Use it or loss it- you will be charged if you dont use it. This Was not explained properly. The Staffed argued the point, that they handed out the little card to explain. Not acceptable! We did win the case!
This place is MOST DEFINITELY centrally located to a lot of perks but its definitely pricey!! For how much theyre charging per night, you would think they would address the following:●mildew smells from the bathroom (the shower head seems nice but it seems the wood cabinet vanity is retaining too much moisture from it generating a foul mildew smell from the bathroom) 15th floor.●hard time figuring out where your room is located (only 1 small sign from the elevator pointing your way to your room, good luck)●no complimentary breakfast●free wifiPerks:●$x amount of credit if you eat @ their eatery●fedex on site, for a hefty price●subway stations nearby●excellent security service
The Westin Times Square is sadly nowhere near the standard of other Westins I have stayed in. Rooms are cramped, design is poor, I maybe in an updated room but it feels outdated - feels more like a motel than a high end hotel. Extremely disappointing as I have only had great experiences in Westins in other cities. The hotel gives you $30 resort fee credit for their restaurant but this is bordering impossible to redeem as the bar/restaurants opening hours are inconvenient. This is also the most expensive Westin I have stayed in and it doesnt even get a 1/5 compared to other Westins. In future I will stay elsewhere. Never again.
My family and I had the misfortune of staying at your hotel from March 16, 2022 to March 19, 2022. We picked your hotel because of the location, and some of the positive reviews I had read online. My family and I had a great vacation visiting Time Square and the Lion King Broadway show. During our stay, we encountered a number of unsatisfactory service levels that I think you should know of and hopefully do something about it at the Westin Time Square. Checking in with no help from the concierge, I already had a reservation 3 weeks before checking in. When entering our rooms March 16th, 2022 the beds were properly made, but the bathroom was dirty blonde hair on the bathroom shower wall and bathroom floor. The next day March 17th, 2022 we went to the Lobby Lounge Bar for dinner. Westin gives you a $30.00 voucher for breakfast/dinner. My spouse and I met my former friend that also booked at the Westin Time Square. We received the worst service from Stephanie. The dinner started off in a very disappointing way with Stephanie rolling her neck when taking our orders very uncooperative. We all thought oh its a New York thing the Westin are rude to their guest thats from out of town, but once we saw her serve others race she put on the biggest smile. Once leaving the Lobby Lounge Bar Stephanie called one of her colleagues and pointed at us walking out of the Lounge my spouse and I asked why are you pointing at us Stephanie couldnt give us any reason but yell at us. Due to the Lobby Lounge and Westins services I didnt bother to eat or drink anything with my family. We went across the street to eat at Chick-fil-A. I will not bring my family back or refer my friends to stay at the Westin Time Square.
Front desk was super rude. We called and asked if there was a pool on site because we have kids and she replied “F you and hung up”. I called back 15 min later after registering what was said and wanted to know if their was a pool on site again & she answered then proceeded to say “F yourself, why don’t you F yourself” . I will be contacting corporate Monday morning and this will get handled correctly. Video of phone conversation was recorded the 2nd call and I will also be sending the video to corporate.
For tourists first time in NYC this place if good, the location is mainly good for tourists. But if youre a business traveler or any other traveler that already explored NY and not looking to be around Times square I would avoid this hotel. Its ok, pretty clean but they are charging for packages with FedEx what I see as a tourist scam. in addition, the staff really pushes for tips and did not provide great service when Ive asked for an additional pillow.
This 5hithole is effing whack. Took over an hr to get bags brought up to room. No fridge in the room. Gotta pay $200 if u want a fridge. No room service. No business center. Check that. They do but its fedex/kinkos computers/printers. Gotta pay to use the computers. How is this a semi upscale hotel. Its worse than a motel 6. Marriot/westin u should be ashamed of yourselves
This is a bottom of the barrel Westin. No room service, couldnt get through to the front desk from my room, and the most annoying part - no water! You get one bottle of water in your room, if you want more, go walk around time square for a store and good luck. I expect more from Westin, because they are usually better.
1- Fridge is not available! You have to pay $20 more for it!!!! I spent $1,840 for 4 nights and they are looking for $20 to bring me the fridge!2- Breakfast is not included. It’s more expensive than others.3- I paid $130 more to get higher floor. But my friend he took higher floor without paying more! He was booking lower lever!!
We made a booking and the wrong date was made through a third party app, we called when we realised the problem and the front desk were rude and not sympathetic towards our situation at all. After spending hundreds of dollars they would not help us. We are devastated with this service and ultimately out of pocket for it. Ty C on the front desk was no help and super rude. Thanks for nothing 💩💩💩💩
Positive: The gentleman who checked us in, Luis, was FABULOUS!!! I explained it was my granddaughters 20th BD and he went out of his way to give her (us) a beautiful room with a city view (her wish). Everyone at that hotel was outgoing and friendly. LOVED IT Negative: Cant think of a thing. Great location, great staff....no complaints at all!
Positive: Convenient location, esp. w/parking garage right across the street. Check-in was a breeze; staff were professional, personable & very efficient. Room was good size, bed comfortable, nice decor & view. Negative: restaurant only for breakfast, would have liked the option for a bar w/in the hotel during the day.
This hotel was very elegant and in a great location! After reviewing hotels for my NYC vacation this one lived up to the many glowing reviews! One block from Times Square, right on 8th AVE! Walking distance to all broadway shows! The experience starts at the entrance, the lovely bellhops are helpful in checking in our bags while we waited for a call to check in. The lobby is spectacular. I didn’t eat at the bar but it was beautiful. The we had a corner room with a beautiful view. The windows cracked so we had fresh air and could hear the city buzz. There isn’t a microwave or fridge thought. The shower is lovely. Very spacious room, updated television. Wanting to make this “our NYC spot.”
Staff was friendly and professional. My flight arrived a lot earlier than I had originally planned and they allowed me to check in (at 9am instead of 4pm) without charging any additional fees. While doing so, they changed our one queen bed to two double beds, which worked out even better for us. The room was clean and comfortable, but we didn’t have a mini fridge in ours, which was a bit of an inconvenience. Be prepared to pay for wifi if you are not a member. Lastly, the hotel’s location was great, with various shops/eateries within walking distance; Times Square was literally down the block too. Overall, we had a great stay at this hotel and I’d recommend it to others!
I had an overall great stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, helpful and overall amazing. The proximity to food, pharmacy and times square was really good. The room was nice, very modern and the beds were amazing. Cant wait to stay here again November! Kudos to the bellman crew and the front desk crew they all provided top notch service. Keep up the good work!
Tldr: place needs interior upgrades and some major guest experience improvements. We arrived ~1pm to check in but only got a room at 4pm. I did expect to get an early check-in as perks of being a higher tier member, but it was the holiday season so thats understandable. They kept my luggages and I got to sightsee while they prepped my room. Then, I got in to the junior suite. My god the room interior looks like a 1950s hotel. Maybe thats the theme of the place idk. Shouldve booked moxy or W. Plus theres no fridge and light switches were individually operated. Ive stayed at a courtyard where even there they have side table light controls/key card circuit breakers. Then, I realized I was missing bottled waters and body wash. I tried calling concierge twice, nobody picked up. I resorted to using the chat feature through the app which worked. It took them 1 hour to deliver something that should be in the room in the first place. The day I checked out, housekeeping knocked on my door twice (first at 9:30AM, next at 2PM) asking to clean the room. I clearly stated for a late check-out of 4PM. Why would there be a need to come housekeeping at 9:30AM anyways??At checkout, there was quite a line at the concierge but nobody came to add more counters. Understaffed? Maybe, in this pandemic season. But waiting 15 minutes just to check out definitely adds up to my agitation. For a hotel with a name at a prime location, I was definitely disappointed with my experience. Im on a vacation, I just want to relax and petty hotel cost cutting measures should be the least of my worries.
We just spent four nights at The Westin Times Square! We were located on the 45th floor and the view was amazing! The hotel and our room was beautiful! It is only one block from the heart of Times square! The hotel rooms are very quiet and the beds are so comfortable! Every staff member we came in contact with was so helpful and friendly! We would definitely stay at this hotel again!
We came to the Westin for my fiances birthday, and to explore NYC neighborhoods prior to relocating here. Even though our stay was short, it was fantastic! We were placed on a high floor during an early check-in since they had the availability, and everyone we interacted with was really pleasant and efficient. I used to work FD at a hotel in DC and have never been impressed by the customer service at hotels in Manhattan, except for during our stay here. They were fabulous. The room was clean and spacious, the view was wonderful, and the location was convenient. I would highly recommend staying here.
Just returned from a 3-day stay. No issues at all. First, the location of the hotel cant be beat. Its a half block from the 42nd Street Bus Terminal, which feeds the major subways. Right across the street is an entrance to the blue ACE subways, which was our line-of-choice for all activities. Two blocks from Times Square (NYC blocks are much smaller than my hometown). Easy walking distance to Bryant Park, Rodgers Center, etc. Service was very good. We were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a higher floor for a small fee. We took it, mostly because the staff member was not pushy. Great views! Clean room. Had housekeeping service every day. No complaints at all. We will stay here again!
This Westin is perfectly situated in the Theatre District. Its staff was courteous, kind, and helpful at every turn - from housekeeping to food/beverage, Concierge (Rockstar John Mauro), Front Desk (Edison), and Bellman (George). The room was far more spacious than most hotels and almost every need was attended to. I say almost because, although there appears to be a cabinet that houses a mini refrigerator, there is no refrigerator in the room. Perhaps its a result of the current health crisis. Otherwise, this was a fantastic experience which serves as further confirmation that my choice of Westin properties is the right choice. Thank you! As a Theatre-lover who is so happy to welcome Broadway back, I look froward to my next visit here.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel the end of July 2021. This was our first trip to visit family in New York since the pandemic started. The rooms were beautiful and very clean. Extremely comfortable beds and we were provided with plenty of extra towels and bath amenities. The breakfast downstairs is amazing! We had a breakfast package and they delivered vouchers to cover the meal on our first day. The second and third day we did not have a voucher, but we paid cash for the breakfast buffet because we enjoyed it so much! The front door staff and front desk staff were all wonderful as well as housekeeping. We had a small issue with extremely loud neighbors twice in the middle of the night. The front desk was kind enough to ask us if we wanted to move but we felt that security should have been more helpful since we were not the ones making noise and we were the ones who were disturbed. Of course they became quiet one security was call to respond! Other than that small hiccup everything else was great! The hotel is in an amazing location, walking distance to everything and the subway is right across the street. We also felt very safe here, we never saw anyone in the hotel that didn’t belong.
Third time staying here and it never seems to disappoint. Ive been lucky enough to have early check in granted twice, free of charge. The staff is as friendly as any staff can get. The hotel smells amazing, even their complimentary shampoo and soaps smell really good and leave a good long lasting impression. Every room has a view. We got daily credit to spend at their restaurant named The Foundry; very delicious by the way.
Having never visited NYC before we were very careful in selecting our accommodations for this weekend trip of theater and fun. From our travel preparation, to check in and check out you could not ask for a more perfect place in Midtown Manhattan to call home for a few days. The Westin staff is welcoming and helpful. The hotel is extremely clean and well located in the theater district. Our room was quite comfortable, well appointed and very quiet.I highly recommend this hotel in fact we are already making plans to come back soon.
Positive: The public spaces were nice and had a nice aroma. The location was close and walking distance to almost everything. Negative: Our room was disappointing. We paid for a corner city view, but did not get that. The walls are very thin, we could hear our neighbor screaming at 6 am. The room needed some maintenance; the caulking around the toilet was missing for example.
Thank you for accommodating my family of 5 for our stay in NYC! We truly enjoyed the suite and adjoining room! The beds were comfy, the staff was amazing, the bellmen Roger and team as well as the drivers they recommended were TOP NOTCH! We appreciate all of you and look forward to staying here again!
Overall, I would stay here again. There were 8 of us total (booked two rooms). My sister arrived hours early before me and they allowed her to leave her luggage behind the desk which was nice since her name wasnt on the room. The rooms were a decent size for New York (we had 2 double beds which was rough for 4 people but good room size). Great location and clean rooms and friendly concierge. However, there were quite a few issues we had. 1st day, I called twice to ask for extra towels. Didnt get them. Went downstairs and finally got them. There were no small bath towels at all. The next day cleaning came by and only made one of our beds instead of both. Our family in the next room was only give one towel to bathe (hand towel, not wash cloth). My fam asked for four towels and they refused to give them 4 total and said theyd have to check with management. So they expected 4 people to bathe with one towel. Apparently cleaning also actually had a bathing towel and said she cant give those out and she needs to ask management. The rooms were definitely clean when we arrived but the wear and tear was showing. Dust on tv and clocks. Bathrooms had a little mold, water pressure is low, stains on the wall & my aunt in the next room found a huge coffee? water? stain on their mattress. Some of the coffee was expired & there was no cream or sugar. No fridge (which I knew that when booking so no biggie). We didnt get the robes or oil that was promised in the brochure we found in the room. Also, Im missing 3 pair of shorts and my sister is missing her gold earrings. Good hotel overall but their stingy with the towels.
I stayed at the Westin for 11 days and the only thing I can tell you I enjoyed was the staff in the Foundry Bar and those that collect luggage and assist in looking for a taxi. The staff who sign you in are not at the right levels of professionalism and front desk is always short staffed. I waited in line for 30 minutes to get a replacement key and 30 mins to check out which cause me to miss my flight. For what you pay for especially for the cost of meals their breakfast buffet menu is extremely disappointing and bland. No real though is given to the menu and it’s the same food everyday and if you have an extended stay like I did I could only do it for 3 days. They need to revamp the whole dining experience even when it comes to their dinner menu.Lastly I accidentally left my expensive bottles of perfume in the room when I checked out and when I called on top of having long hold times I was told nothing was handed into the lost and found meaning that staff doesn’t care about peoples belongings and have probably stolen them and the hotel has no way of keeping staff accountable to guests property. I’m still waiting on a call back a whole week later and have concluded it’s not happening. I highly don’t recommend staying at this hotel. There are other suitable options.
This hotel still charges a ‘facility’ fee of $30 but doesn’t tell you about potential perks and makes it difficult to use them. There is no room service or mini-fridge items in the room so you can use your food allowance. No one offers you the $5 starbucks card - you need to request it after reading fine print. This hotel was closed for over a year and I think they have decided to not care as much about the customer experience.
The location is great! Plenty of restaurants, theaters, stores, bars, salons, etc. within a few minutes walk. I chose the hotel specifically because they have Peloton bikes. I was happy to find that the fitness center is large and well-equipped.I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. They responded quickly to our requests. They went above and beyond to make sure our youngest son was able to play his xBox on the hotel tv.We stayed a week, but they ran out of washcloths after the first night, which sucked. Our rooms were not as clean as I’d hoped, and housekeeping didn’t change the towels on a few days. The Starbucks coffee in the room tasted good & was a nice touch. It’s absurd that none our rooms had a fridge.Didn’t eat at hotel restaurant and didn’t need to with all the options around Times Square. It’s unfortunate they don’t offer a complimentary continental breakfast. Luckily there is an awesome deli across the street with GREAT breakfast choices. I’d stay again in a pinch, but for the price of the room they should include free breakfast and rooms with a fridge.
The location is great but the amenities we chose the hotel for were not available at all, especially any type of room service, even for some drinking glasses. We should have at least been notified that certain amenities were not available. The hotel is very beautiful and clean and the staff is polite. But we felt there was nothing special about our stay that made us want to go back. Next time we will be trying a different hotel that is more focused on detail.
The location near Times Square, the food and other services that are located close by are great. The view we had in our room was incredible. The shower was also very nice. But the room amenities were severely lacking. I would think that a hotel of this status would provide more room amenities to their guests.1. It is always nice to be able to use a microwave or small regenerator when needed or wanted. Our room did not have either.2. The bathroom does not have adequate lighting by the mirror for one to put make up on.3. The bathroom has no fan ventilation to remove steam from the shower.4. The Bathroom has only one power outlet. That power outlet should be next to the mirror, not on the far side of the toilet.5. The Bathroom Barn Door provides no audible privacy. Everyone can hear every sound that is made in private.6. The TV is located on the side of the room making it difficult to watch in bed.7. The desktop power outlet next to the TV should have USB ports, not just plug in outlets.8. I don’t know if our room intentionally had one sliding mirror closet door, but it did.
The Westin New York at Times Square has a lot going for it. Decent sized rooms for NYC that are priced well and a good location that is within easy walking distance of everything in Times Square. Your view will likely be the port authority bus terminal instead of actual Times Square, but for most it’s worth the cost savings. The room furnishings do feel outdated and a bit worn. The whole hotel could use a bit of a refresh, but everything is clean, quiet and safe and everyone working there is helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Very nice, clean room. It was for me: just one person, 1 king bed. Great view from 23rd floor. Easy check in. Streaming TV with NetFlix, Amazon, etc. location: In the middle of everywhere in middle-Manhattan. The lobby was uncomfortable busy. I hope my checkout is trouble free and doesn’t take long…. I hate that there’s no room service. Good hotel, good rooms at a great price in a great location. But…no food!!!
I loved the location and the my hotel room view. Only issues I had was finding the hotel it was really on 43rd st !! Also there are no microwave in the room so you have to request one and they charge 20$ for a crappy microwave. Bring your own plastic utensils because they don’t provide those either . For all the money they charge for the rooms they should include a microwave n plastic utensils .But over all I would go there again just better equipped and parking is right across the street which was amazing we just left the car with valet and took our bags up
First time back to Newyork and this hotel since the pandemic. Staff was very pleasant and got an upgrade to a higher floor on 1 of the 2 rooms I had booked. Rooms got cleaned everyday and they accommodated any requests for towels etc. There was no room service and no food served at the hotel so trying to get any kind of cutlery etc was impossible. Hotel still well kept and room was clean. Overall a good visit
We travelled to New York City for the weekend. We stayed at The Westin Times Square. The entire staff were customer focused and provided superb service. Front Desk staff upgraded our rooms so that we could be next door to one another. They quickly secured cabs for us and smoothed over cab drivers who didnt want to take four of us or didnt want to drive where we asked them. The breakfast was delicious and the wait staff were friendly and kept our glasses full! The lounge waitress who was on alone with a bar FULL of people, kept a smile on her face and managed to fly between tables. I would certainly stay at The Westin Times Square again!
The hotel is located a block away from Times Square and most broadway shows. There are multiple fast food restaurants in close proximity so getting food was not a problem. The only minor issue I had was that the room looked dated and was dark. But we were out most of the time so it wasn’t that big of a deal. Overall, it was a good hotel and we might consider staying there again next time.
Clean hotel, no wash clothes, you’ll need to ask for them. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the Broadway district.5-10 minute walk to some of the popular attractions.Depending on you’re ideal location, you might want to reconsider your location and your willingness to walk…I was there on a solo trip, the room size was just right for me.!!
Location is great. Near Times Square area. Do not have to cross a street for the 7 subway to Open. 35 minutes awayGot upgraded to suite and as elite, free breakfast buffet each day. Check-in is slow. But check-out was easy. Elevators are fast and not crowded. We stay here annually. Corner rooms are also nice.
I was really happy with the overall experience, the staff was super courteous, friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and it made me feel very secure especially in these times of the pandemic. Location is superb as I was able to explore a lot of places just walking. I would say its value for money and definitely recommend it.
We checked it before our roomwas ready and were able to check our bags. Checking took a while as only two people working the desk and about 10 people waiting to check in. I couldn’t get into the bathrooms without a guest key. The key did not work. Eventually was able to use the bathroom. Then we were on our way to see Time Square. When we returned at 4 o’clock to get a room. There was about 30 parties waiting to check in and we had to wait online to get our keys. A manager came through with water bottles for everyone waiting. we explained our predicament and he hooked us up with keys and we were on our way. The pillows and the blankets on the bed were amazing I wish I could’ve taken them home!
We booked this hotel as first time visitors to NYC. The location is perfect for all of the main attractions. The rooms were spotless, beds were comfortable, and the view was amazing. I appreciated the late night security coming into the hotel. The bellman were extremely helpful.
Pros: The staff was very friendly & helpful. The location is great. The doorman Patrick was so very helpful. He provided me directions on using the subway and gave tips on navigating throughout NY. He is truly a asset to this hotel. Cons: The bathroom floor was a little dirty when we arrived. I booked this room for 4 people and throughout my stay I had to constantly ask for more towels because I was only provided enough towels for 1 person. Every time I asked for more towels I never received enough for all 4 people in my room.
Pros: great views , lovely staff. John at the concierge desk helped us with discounted tickets for the “top of the rock “. We stayed on floor 41- newly renovated and very clean30 credit toward an “ok” breakfastCons: had to to call everyday for wash rags. Not sure if they had a shortage , but none was left after room service everyday :/Be mindful of the bellhops getting you a taxi. Be sure you get charged the correct standard fee From the hotel to jfk airport.
Service at this hotel is top notch! Everyone we interacted with was very friendly and helpful. The location is also pretty central, depending on what you want to do. It’s “Times Square” without being too close to the center of the craziness. The hotel rooms are spacious, especially for NYC standards. One of my family members uses a wheelchair, and we found the hotel to be very accessible.
The room was clean, big and very nice. Check in staff were very friendly. There were two concerns. 1. No wash towels. Called front desk several times, but no answer nor a return call. 2. The mattress was sunken in on one side. It was very difficult to sleep. Nice property.
I generally like Westin, and this property excels in some predictable ways, like the bed and showerhead, but I think some problems still exist after the hotel was closed for so long, and with the recent advent of the vaccine card requirements for dining and fitness. The renovated rooms on the higher floors were quite nice and felt new, but the opportunity to remove the minibar and replace it with a regular refrigerator was missed. I had to request the frig. Also, the lack of charging options on the nightstand was surprising, as well as the small workspace, also with a lack of charging options. Westins typically offer ethernet connections in the room, but I did not see one here.Fitness is a nice amenity at this Westin, but they are completely bungling the management of this ridiculous NYC vaccine card mandate. I needed a separate key card to enter the fitness center, but the front desk staff did not ask me if I planned to use the fitness center, so I had to learn this unpleasantly when my room key would not work. In addition, the separate key they gave me stopped working after the first day, which was the same for at least a dozen other people, who all ended up knocking on the glass and asking to be let into the area. So much for controlling access with proof of vaccination. Westin needs to manage this MUCH better, it is costing guests precious time, especially business travelers in early-morning workout scenarios. Some of the peak times saw long waits for elevators, as much as 6 minutes. The elevator banks are divided into 2-23 and 23-45, and the fitness center, plus conference areas, are on floors around 8, so going from a guest room to the common areas requires two elevators. Thats not terrible alone, but combined with long wait times is just inefficient. It appears that the elevator system is not quite ready for normal traffic. There are quite a few things about this hotel that are favorable, such as the fitness center has nice equipment (but no space or ceiling height for a pull-up bar!) and is quite large, but with the AC just 3 blocks away, I would not use the Westin again if the rates are competitive with AC.
Our room was quite comfortable, well appointed and very quiet. I highly recommend this hotel in fact we are already making plans to come back soon.
The room was great! Comfy beds, fresh coffee and waters brought in every day. They provided a complimentary fridge. Shower was nice. Facility overall was very nice. Even the elevators were fast. Location was great for easy access to multiple train lines throughout the city. Felt like a killer deal for the price we paid to stay in such a nice place. Only complaint I could have was overly high price for continental breakfast. But hey…hotel prices, as they say.
Our large family stayed in two grand deluxe queen rooms recently. The front desk staff and concierge were great. Edgar and George were fantastic every single time we saw them and I’d stay here again just for them! The restaurant and bar were still closed due to COVID, but there were many options right next door and across the street to grab breakfast before heading out to explore the city. The beds were comfy and the rooms were much more spacious than I anticipated. The rain shower was great and the beds were comfy. (I have terrible hip and back arthritis, so the beds being comfy was super helpful.) The gift shop in the lobby was well-stocked with snacks and the little toiletries and sundries I forgot when I packed. In-room coffee with complimentary bottled water was great. We did hear sirens and city noise periodically, given the Times Square location, but it wasn’t bad and we got used to it. The location was just what we wanted. We will definitely stay here again if we want to stay in Times Square.
I specifically requested in advance a room with a spa tub (the entire reason I booked this hotel) as it was my last trip prior to the delivery of my child. I was told that I could check back day-by-day to see if one became available. Secondly, I could NOT reach the concierge service the entire time I was in my room. While on this trip, I became very ill and needed access to a wheel chair. As I could NOT reach anyone of the 5 lines available at the hotel to contact someone for help, I had to rely on my spouse to practically carry me to the elevator and down the escalator to ensure I could get into the UBER for urgent care. Upon my return to the hotel, the lines continued to be outrageous and understaffed. The following evening, again, I could not reach the concierge service to request a handicapped portable shower chair be brought to my room, as I was too weak to stand for a shower. I had to call the outside number to guest services, before I could get connected to house keeping for any assistance. I am a very healthy, young woman and I have never been unwell while traveling. This was the most disappointing visit to NYC and I will continue to let others know how subservient this stay was for me.
Rooms arent that nice, staff wasnt that pleasant, didnt have face towels in room and when we called we waited over an hour and half to get them and that was after we called the 3rd time for them. Housekeeping showed up to our door walking into our room at 1020am after having knocked twice and checkout wasnt until 12 noon. Once asked why she was there so early she pretended not understand English. We asked for towels and she said someone else would come she cant do that.
45 minute check in process, no robe, no washcloth, poor communication, have to prove vaccination to use gym (fine but tell me that at checkin not when I am ready to go work out and have to go back to front desk). App is USELESS and online checkin is meaningless since you have to go swipe your Credit card to get a room key. Add on charges (destination fee) not on confirmed reservation. Neon signs glaring into your room as shades do not fully block. I will never stay there again and will shun Marriotts in general. Staff very pleasant but fully unsupported by systems and processes. No restaurant available beyond bar. POOR poor experience.
Unfortunately the only things that are good about this place is the location and the room size. The cleaning staff was atrocious as they left a wash cloth used to clean the bathroom in the window ledge of the bathroom, never relaxed the body wash, and moved a used towel of mine into a different rack as of it were a fresh towel. If you’re not replacing a fork, don’t touch it. Also. the level of the floor must have been slanted as our dresser drawers would not stay closed. Lastly, while the mini-bar was locked, you could have an additional fridge brought to your room for an additional cost versus then leaving the kink-bar empty and slowing guest to utilize the fridge that’s already there. I will never stay here again.
I recently visited NYC to catch a Broadway show. The Westin Times Square was the perfect place to stay. Its a five-minute walk from Times Square, which provides enough space to decompress from the lights, sounds and action, and to provide a peaceful and calm space. The room was up-to-date, clean, nicely furnished and everything worked. The security staff was very nice, and, when we arrived, Issac was especially helpful in stopping traffic so we could get to the parking garage. I was so impressed with this hotel that I rebooked it for another trip I will be taking soon.
The hotel staff (doormen included) is a great staff, but I can’t say the same for the restaurant staff. Customer service goes a long way. I’m not sure how the two are connected, but there should be a distinction of some sort. Im any event, after seeing the room, which was ok (See my upcoming photos of other rooms elsewhere), I wanted to see the dining area. It was beautiful, but the meal I ordered looked and tasted like something out of the frozen/microwavable section of a grocery store…and I don’t eat from that section. I hoped for more…
Positive: Located right in all the action just off times square. Super clean and very friendly staff. We were checked right in and had no issues. Negative: PARKING! I didnt expect anything else given the location but it would be nice to have some sort of reasonable parking solution we could have booked through the hotel.
I have stayed in multiple Marriott properties over the years while in NYC.The stay at Marquis was far better.Even the stay at Sheraton was better compared to my last stay.As I said in the survey, I had to literally call room service for basic stuffs such as towels, shampoo. The hot beverage condiments were left over and used from last person’s stay, with missing milk pods. There was no bath robe.We stayed for 3 nights and bed linens were not replaced. I had to put the towels down in the floor to indicate they need to be replaced. Later I find out there were no replacements, so I had to call to get towels. The bathroom floor had water stains which was not wipe cleaned to the level where there is no stain. Overall, this is by far the worst experience I had on a Marriott category 7 hotel, paying top dollar. I will avoid Westin hotels going forward.
I hope you don’t need towels. We had 4 people in the room, and the hotel wouldn’t give us 4 full sets of towels. We called at least twice a night. Some nights were ignored, and other nights were not brought the amount of towels we need. Seems small, but it’s the small things you expect from a hotel. We stayed in the suite, and didn’t have enough pillows, blankets, toilet paper, towels, just all around a bad service stay. The location is great, the maid cleaned everyday, but the actual service was horrible.
This hotel was great for our very tight schedule. So glad that the Westin had an adjoining bar[with food].We were in airports most of the day and dining options were very limited in Chicago and LaGuardia[arrivals gate]. We had tickets for a Broadway show and we were able to walk around the corner to the theater in 5-10 min!Special Thank you to your front desk-I cant remember the gentlemans name but he was so helpful in recommending dining, entertainment and the fastest way to get where we needed to be. The bed was very, very comfortable-wish I could have stayed in bed longer but we had to leave for the airport @ 5am the next day. We hope to choose the Westin again when we travel.
I read the reviews about issues on cleanliness and the unfriendly staff before booking to give a try. I hate to say it but it is correct. Upon arrival and during the stay, the room didn’t get really clean. There are visible dirt on the floor and carpet despite daily room cleaning. The front desk are not friendly and not welcoming nor helpful at all but the concierge is totally different. They are helpful and attentive.
Pretty disappointing, for a Westin. We were upgraded to a room that was supposed to be on a higher floor and it wasnt. No real amenities in the room to speak of, not even water. Outlets for phone charging were barely workable. Couldnt even reach anyone on the phone within the hotel. Definitely not a Westin experience and I absolutely do NOT recommend this hotel. My daughter and I will sadly have to suffer through another 4 nights here.Update upon checkout.... definitely one of the most expensive, least enjoyable hotels I have ever stayed at. Never again.
The Westin Times Square is a very nice hotel. Staff was very pleasant. It is located just 1 block from Broadway Times Square. We were able to walk everywhere from this hotel. We also like the fact that housekeeping is done every day. Of course, you can request for no housekeeping if you want. We would recommend this hotel.
11.01.21 - 11.07.21 stay. One Doorman (Edgar) was extra nice. He recognized and spoke to us everyday the entire week. Other staff were cordial too. The rooms are a bit dated, but comfortable and nice. We were able to stream our shows thru Netflix and Showtime after long days in the City. The hotel is located near everything you could possibly want or need (Quick food, convenience store, pharmacy, coffee, theatres, etc.). This was our second stay here.I took away a star because my wife and I had to request wash cloths everyday. For some reason, everday the make ready personnel would either leave no wash cloth or a single wash cloth with three hand towels and three bath towels. Other than the wash cloths, no issues.
Great location if it’s your first time in NYC and want to be close to Times Square and other touristy attractions. Otherwise, the only nice thing about the hotel is the lobby. Rooms are rundown and dated, bed skirt was stained in my room. Beds felt old and droopy. Floors were dirty. Bathroom was semi updated (sink looked new), but still dated. Walls had some minor stains. Would not stay again. Guest services was kind but very slow moving staff. Line to check in and out was always long every time I passed.
Didn’t love, didn’t hate my stay. Was good if you didn’t need any services. I wasn’t sure if it was a pandemic related thing or just an overall drawback of services but no room service rooms were not stocked when we were arrived. However the cleanliness of the room was good, front desk was responsive.
Do not use the concierge desk to book any trips. They are clueless. The trip they booked for us with big bus/empire state combo was a sham. It takes over 1 hour to get ahold of anyone on the phone. Call the hotel number for yourself and you will see. 3 uber rides back and forth from big bus at Times Square to Empire State were a waist of time. Bellman brought wrong bags to our room. We had to wait for the correct bags to be brought. We were told we had to be in the room to accept the bags. Missed a reservation having to wait so long for correct bags to be brought up to our room. Loud rattling in the ac unit in room. Can hear every other room flushing their toilet. Towel racks hanging off in bathroom. Appetizers in Bar were gross. Only compensation given was a couple points on Marriot account. Only good thing was location is close to Time Square. It is down the block from Times Square. You wont see Times Square from the hotel or even the upper floors.
The location is hard to beat. Great views of Times Square and the river. Parking is available across the street. Our floor smelled like smoke for unclear (but probably obvious) reasons. Half of the clientele were not wearing masks, but then I’m disappointed at the poor enforcement of the mask mandate in the city everywhere. The room is clean and adequate though due to COVID there are no refrigerators in the rooms.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Westin Times Square. The room was clean, and really nice. The bed was comfy, and all the people who worked there were friendly and helpful. It’s located near all the theaters (which unfortunately we couldn’t go to because COVID) but we would stay there again when all the theaters open up for sure!!
I booked at the Westin because usually the name represents Prestige. This was not the case here. There were no washcloths available our entire stay. The ceiling in one room had water damage and the people below the other room complained that every time we use our shower their ceiling leaked. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk staff. I was given a credit to use at the restaurant for both rooms and told that I could move to another room, but I had to wait until the next day. I asked if we could move to joining rooms since that’s what we currently had and I was told that that’s why I would have to wait until the next day. I was also told that the staff would move our belongings to the new rooms while we were out. The next day after being out my guest returned and were told that are belongings weren’t moved and that the new rooms weren’t connecting. Also they were told that they couldn’t get keys because they weren’t listed on my reservation. I had to make continuous calls to get a manager to add them to my reservation since I wasn’t back yet. The manager Nick wasn’t helpful at ALL. He actually said would like the rooms or not because they aren’t connecting but they are by each other. After explaining to him what I was promised he still had a nonchalant and unhelpful attitude.
No wash clothes in the rooms, 24hrs after arrival finally getting room keys, front desk hardly answered the phone, roll away bed delivered at 3:30am in the morning, had to ask for things several times before actually receiving them, was charged a few hundred dollars extra without a word said to me about it, 150 dollars for the restaurant breakfast for 4 people. Staff not very friendly. However Paul and the manager were nice. Received 2 nights of the stay back plus the extra few hundred dollars.
The next day cleaning came by and only made one of our beds instead of both and left trash in our familys room next door.
The hotel was not up to the Marriott standards we are used to. We had no washcloths and were told wed receive them within an hour. Four nights and no washcloths. A used filthy washcloth was found on the shelf in the closet. We had to empty our own trash as housekeeping did not. Only one tattered desk chair for seating and there were 3 guests in the room. One of the light bulbs was burned out in the lamp. The coffee and cups were not replenished in the room. Over priced for what we received.
The rooms are dusty, no fridge in the rooms and you have to pay extra if you request one. There was no hair dryer either, had to request one as well which they brought at 12am. Employees and room service not friendly at all. Housekeeping didnt change the bed sheets when cleaning the room. Overall, not a great experience and expected it to be much better for being expensive and a 4star hotel.
Very disappointing about this Hotel, they charge for everything, plus they keep getting extra money each day from your credit card without of authorization. They also charge for putting stuffs in the refrigerator. They dont have microwave, pool and laundry room. It was my first time getting this hotel, and last time. Never again Westin Hotel.
The hotel did not clean our room for 2 days despite us asking for cleaning service. When we called service express, their tone was very rude claiming that we did not take off our do not distrub tag even though we never put it up. The caller service told us to go up to the front desk for our complaint, and when we got there the front desk told us to complain to the call line instead. Very unprofessional behaviour on the management.
Despite the check-in rush, which created quite a long wait … my check-in process was very simple and quick! I also bundled my stay to have my parking validated. The lot is conveniently located across the street (unless it’s full). I was accommodated with every request made. My floor was very quiet and my room was clean. The in-room technology was up to date (much appreciated) including Bluetooth connection for audio/stereo. The bathroom decor: modern. I very much enjoyed my stay.
I really enjoyed this hotel. It was clean, the staff was awesome, and my view was great from the 19th floor. The bed was more comfortable then my bed at home. I was alone in my trip and still felt safe to wander the surrounding area by myself. Ill definitely come back to this hotel.
We stayed with our twin 10-year-olds for a long weekend of Broadway shows and sightseeing and it was a perfect base for all of that. We were able to walk to everything other than the Statue of Liberty, which was a short cab ride away, the room was clean and had all that we needed, the staff were super friendly and helpful, the restaurant downstairs was very convenient for breakfast, it was perfect!
We booked a last minute trip to NYC with family. My hotel of choice has always been Westin for its amenities and customer service. Granted with COVID restrictions and lack of staff, I did expect some things to be different - I missed the Westin signature scent as you walked in or the abundance of complimentary use of umbrellas on a rainy day. The staff was professional and helpful. The room was clean but some of the furniture felt tired/dated.
The location is great, of course. However, the stay wasnt great. Our first room has a weird smell. We requested a move and the second room was actually worse than the first in appearance. No wash cloths in the room. Front desk never answered the phone when I called. A few other annoyances.
Decent hotel if you can get it for a good rate. We originally stayed 2 nights for about 380 total. We decided to extend our stay on the last day and was quoted around 300/ day, so we left. Parking is 50/day with no in & out privileges! Very minor, but there was a beer bottle top left under the chair and hair in shower from previous guests, so cleaning could be more thorough but overall pretty good stay , just not worth 300/ day! Oh, and staff and service is Excellent!
Overall the hotel is great. Clean, in a very central location, beautiful property. One thing I did notice upon check-in though, is that the front desk agent was very nice but did not mention any of their amenities, just gave me my key and have a nice day. Usually a quick explanation on breakfast times, restaurants, gym operation, and housekeeping measures due to covid is expected. But anyway, my review is not a 5 star review because of a specific manager. I booked two rooms, one for myself the other for my mother in law. At check out I specifically told the front desk agent I wanted both rooms charged on two different cards mine being that I had a Marriott Bonvoy gift card. Long story short, they charged both rooms to my mother in law. So annoying... I called the hotel and was able to speak with Daniella Fishbein (manager) ONCE. All she said is that the accounting department handles adjustments and she had not heard back from them. E-mailed her about 5 times for updates and I have never received a response. Have called the hotel for her on different times of the day and she is never available. An update on whether or not the adjustment can be made is all I want. I checked out of the hotel on August 8th, today is October 4th. Seems like a training on guest problem handling is long overdue for the managers at this property.... If you decide to stay here make sure you have the right card on file!!!
The Westin Time square is a top notch hotel in a sea of many hotels. The service was great, I booked through third party and they still honored my Bonvoy benefits. They didnt have to do that and that show great customer service and putting guests first. Room was clean and housekeeping was attentive, but not overbearing. The only downfall was the small bar was only open until 10? Thats crazy ion the Time square area that is a late night destination. It would have ben nice to have a night cap in my own hotel, rather than have to try and go out in the mean streets. The area isnt the best, but hey its New York, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere!
Customer service was top notch!! We arrived early Monday morning. The gentleman that checked us in ewes very friendly. He was courteous and very accommodating. We were able to check in as soon as we arrived and we had a beautiful view of the Hudson River. The room was nice and clean. Everyone ( the staff) that we came in contact with during our overnight stay was so friendly and helpful. The only downside was there weren’t any small wash clothes in the room to bathe with. Maybe that was an oversight ?. I had to bathe with a large hand towel. I’m sure someone would have given us hand towels if I had asked. Overall, the stay was up to par. This will definitely be our Hotel whenever we’re in the big city!!
OMG...We went for the Heavenly Bed and got an unforgettable experience. I stayed for my birthday weekend few days ago and I can truly say Amazing staff warm reception nice spacious suite perfectly priced and... . location to both the show and Carmines... priceless. I promise you from you get on the escalator heading to check in you will be impressed. You get elegance and warmth at the same time. Did I mention they Validate so you get almost 50% off at the garage next door...Westin Times Square Rocks.
For a Westin hotel at the prime location of Times Square in NYC I expected more. The staff was wonderful, helpful and patient but the hotel amenities were lacking. No WiFi and access to the room refrigerator without charging additional costs ($17 and $20 respectively); a non-working ice machine on our floor didnt help much to improve our stay. It was humid and hot in NYC so a working ice machine or access to our room refrigerator to keep our water and water bottles cool would have helped to make our stay more pleasant.
From the doorman to the luggage valet to service desk to concierge to housekeeping to the restaurant staff.... I could not have been treated any better. Except if there was a complimentary foot massage in our room every night riding us of out walking aches. We originally booked our stay at The Algonquin and their reop6was delayed and we were relocated here. Disappointed to learn this, we did not have high expectations. We were completely impressed and smothered with kindness. Thank you to the kitchen attendant for the customer strawberry & blueberry waffle. Love back to you!
The hotel breakfast is mediocre, not much better than the free breakfast offered at many cheap hotels. But it costs $25 per person and is crowded. Outside the hotel, there is no reasonable place to eat breakfast bc restaurants have no tables.Soulless lobby and smelly streets with drug addicts outside. Not a fourStar hotel.
Great place to stay, actual nice employees and probably one of my favorite locations to stay in this city. Did not include a few amenities listed on “included amenities”. Most anything your looking for is close by, the gift shop even had a decent neck tie and products. Regret not trying the in hotel spot for breakfast.
I had an excellent stay, the service from staff was very nice and accommodated 99% of my request. Housekeeping did a great job timing service daily, cleaning, and refreshing room! The only thing not available was food and beverage options at the hotel, because of Covid. Everything else was great, will be back and definitely use the f&b options.
We enjoyed staying at the Westin. The room was clean other than the plastic bottle behind the dresser. Lol! The only downfalls were no visible plugs and no wash cloths. There was a huge mirror leaning against the wall with plugs behind it but I was afraid to move it. We like our rooms to be really cold especially at night. The temp would not go lower than 65. Otherwise it was a really nice place to stay and we would definitely stay here again.
This was by far the most unpleasant Marriott stay I have ever encountered. I am generally a loyal Marriott customer and look at Marriott branded hotels first. From the moment of checkin this stay was unpleasant. We arrived and checked in and were assigned a room. Upon opening the door to the room a horrific smell of something rotting came from the doorway. We took a couple steps in and the smell got worse. We returned to the front desk and informed the same agent that assigned our first room at which point he rolled his eyes and responded well, let me see if I have another room. We were assigned the second room and at least that room did not smell terrible. We had 3 towels for our entire stay although we booked the room with 4 people. There were no washcloths ever delivered until requested the last day. The air conditioner had 2 lint filled filters stuck in the air return. The air conditioner struggled to reach the desired temperature. There were blood spatters on the wall in the bathroom. Although they were small they were not addressed during the stay. I took photos of that. Unfortunately, we were traveling with family and I could not raise repeated concerns during the trip for the sake of ruining our trip. I made 2 separate requests during the stay using the Marriott app and both went unanswered for hours until I made a follow up request at which time they were answered. The second request was for enough towels for my family to shower. I made the requests at 8:14 and it went unanswered until 1026 when I inquired. The housekeeping staff came to my room after 11pm with towels. We had friends and family come to meet us for breakfast at the hotel and could not have been more embarrassed. The selection of food was terrible and the price was beyond excessive. We expected that for $26 we would have a decent selection of food but were met with food that was tasteless. I have had better food at free breakfast hotels. Furthermore, we requested on several occasions to have the only fresh food, the waffles and pancakes, refilled and until we saw a manager the requests went unanswered. The service was not good at all. I had a single cup of coffee through the entire breakfast. The server never returned to the table. Pre-added 18% gratuity was excessive. I do understand the need to add for the general welfare of the servers but we did not get that level of service. Upon checkout, I requested that a member of management contact me and that has not happened yet. This was a terrible experience overall. I will certainly not ever stay at this hotel again.
I love this place! My room was very nice and clean. When I say beautiful view I mean BEAUTIFUL. The only issue I had was someone kept messing with my door while I was trying to sleep. Not sure if they had the wrong room or what but it made me very uncomfortable. Overall it was a great stay and I had a good time. Definitely will be back.
Overall the stay was good, not great, but a solid good. The rooms are very spacious and offer great reviews - huge plus. Especially for my dad who was in NYC for the first time. Being that the hotel had just opened up you can tell some options were lacking, like the lobby bar / restaurant and room service. Other items didn’t care for, every time you walk out or in of the hotel there are people there from one of the NYC Bud Sightseeing companies trying to convince you to take a tour. It gets old quick! Another item was not happy about, had arranged for 2 different deliveries to the hotel (one was alcohol the other was food). Both deliveries were turned away because we were not physically in the hotel at the time. In my opinion these could had been held at the front desk for me.
Hotel is in a perfect location. Not too close to the action where you cant have a good nights sleep but also a few steps away from everything. Pleasant staff and clean hotel. Awesome gym! Be prepared to pay extra for the microwave and the mini fridge. Our room did not have the stove top.
This was by far my worst ever Marriott experience. I am a loyal Marriott customer and this was the worst Ive ever experienced. First room smelled like there was a rotting animal in it. When I asked to change the front desk person rolled their eyes and tried to look for a similar room. Never had enough towels for my family. Breakfast was terrible. $26 for food that was worse than a budget hotel free continental breakfast. Service was terrible. Save your time and money and visit somewhere else. Stayed at other properties in the City and they were great. This on was not!
Clean. Great location. Good housekeeping. Didnt like the resort fee of 30 per day which wasnt explained to us at check in but I had read about it in other online reviews. Felt resort fee isnt fair because it didnt even include wifi. You had to pay for wifi. We didnt bother. Also only one bottle of water per day despite two guests. For $30 a day free wifi and bottled water would be appreciated.
We only had one night in New York City. And we had the best time. From the moment that we walked into the Westin, we were greeted with smiling faces. George came right over and grabbed our luggage and directed us towards the front desk. Then this wonderful gentleman… I think his name is Jose… Allowed us to check in early which allowed us to have a great start to an amazing day. Not to mention it was raining! No when we were visiting from California and only had one night he gave us a room with an amazing view. I just sat there and looked out of the window for many parts of the day. And my kids were so excited! When we got up into the room George was already there with our luggage. And that was pretty much our experience for the full 24 hours… People smiling and giving us guidance. On top of that, the amenities were wonderful and the beds were very comfortable. And it was a very sweet touch to see good morning Aimee, good afternoon Amy, and good evening Aimee on the television screen :-)And you can’t be the location. Close to the subway in Port Authority and a five minute walk to Times Square.Thank you to everyone at Westin! I would highly recommend this hotel, and we were definitely stay there again.
Before booking, we confirmed with the hotel if I would be able to check in without credit card on file since I had lost my wallet. They confirmed that I’d have no problem. Upon reaching the hotel, they denied this, claiming that the hotel never would say that and said I will not be able to check in. Keep in mind this was a prepaid booking so everything was paid for. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude, and was yelling while I was trying to explain my situation to her. Giving her the benefit of the doubt since she looked a little old, I decided to not complain about her but she kept being hostile. They then decided to ask for an authorisation form which we sent but then they said it didn’t go through. Upon asking them on letting us fill it again, the manager said they can check me in. It is currently 3am in the morning and I got locked out of my room since the key was not working. They’re saying it’s because my credit card is not on file and the SAME thing is happening all over again. I’ve been told to wait and it’s been a while since I have been waiting. I think this behaviour is very rude and hostile and while I understand hotel policy, this sort of lack of organisation and communication is unacceptable. I would’ve check out if getting a refund was an option but I’ll have to suffer through, I guess. F corporate hotels.
The hotel is beautiful and in a prime location in the middle of time square. The staff on the other hand was very rude made you feel unwelcome and rushed. I understand that it is New York City and New Yorkers are known to have a snappy attitude, but there is a time and place for everything and their employees should be screened better to make sure their guest are being taken care of. Never in a million years did I think an employee would roll her eyes at me and make me feel like an idiot at a Westin. Overall if you want to feel like a special guest and have great service this is not the place. If you just want a great location this is the place for you.
The hotel is very nice, clean and comfortable. However, the surroundings are extremely dirty and you can find drug dealers dealing as early as 10 AM less than half a block away. Also, both check in and check out, though fast, are in no way in line with other chains who offer NO front desk check in and have the possibility of checking out from TV.
Great location near Times Square, we were able to walk to the Intrepid, the Highline, even Central Park. We paid extra for a higher floor which offered a really nice view. Had a few little issues with the room and told the front desk. Mary Jane at the front desk helped correct every issue and was extremely helpful. Compared to other midtown hotels this is a great choice and the staff were superb.
I have stayed at many Westin hotels over a time and I have not been disappointed. Rooms were very clean and of course the bed was very very relaxing. The Westin never disappoints with luxury and style. This time I was able to get a little gym life in...again 5 stars. Equipment was clean and sanitized. I will stay here again the next time I am in town. Oh and let me not forget.... A++ staff, everyone from the door guy (George) to the front desk to the express service to the guy who loaded us up to go back home... Thank you for giving us a wonderful stay!
Beautiful hot spot location, we were amazed with hotel room and view from the floor.we got 27th floor and it was amazing!!Room dint had refrigerator and we requested for it, room service team were able to get us one in 1 hour which is nice.Location is very near Times Square and you can hear the sound of performance, traffic and the crowd cheer. Very lively
The hotel is situated in a central location which is a big plus for seeing places in and around Manhattan. Also accessibility to the subway is good. We felt safe. The room was neat, clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend Westin at Times Square
Positive: Location Cleanliness Night time staff was excellent Negative: Room we booked did not match room we were given. Issues w/staff in the morning-took 3 phone calls & one trip to the front desk to get 3 towels. After 2 hours I gave up & went looking for towels myself. Was finally able to get 3 from a maid ¿
Everyone was excellent and the property was perfect location. Small things...like you could not get a soft drink ANYWHERE...no vending machines, no gift shop open, no mini bar service, no dining or bar options at the property. They suggested you go to the drug store across the street. And...according to management...they were having a linen shortage....one wash cloth per room....IF you happen to be lucky that day. I understand some things were not available due to covid restrictions...but they had a year to at least offer something. Wed go back, but take a 2lt of Coke and our own wash cloth.
Brought my son to NYC for the first time to celebrate his 19th birthday. Great experience. Hotel staff was friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. We had a beautiful view. Appreciated the Starbucks coffee in the room. No complaints regarding the hotel itself but expect a little late night noise, it is Times Square! Great value and would definately return or recommend!
There are so many better hotels in this area to stay in so I suggest you do. The staff at this hotel is indifferent. Parking is a nightmare in the ICON garage across the street. The room cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired: leftover food in the fridge that does not work, dirty grout in the bathroom counters and tub, floors with obvious dirt (especially in the closet which looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed in ages). Pillows are thin and flat and definitely need to be replaced. Ice machine on our floor was not working and they were not aware of it and it was not fixed before the end of our stay.
So someone from my hotel tried to take my credit card of £750 so I had to spend my first morning on the phone to my card provider to stop them shutting my card off they said its to make sure I have funds for eating there for the 7 days but this was never explained and they said every hotel does this in all the hotels I have stayed in not one has done this I asked management to compensate for my day he was rude I wouldnt recommend this hotel and also my room is not the best for a 5* I would expect better when I got there it had one bottle of water in the room not tea no sugar or milk which again I would expect better from a 5* hotel

2022-06-05Super friendly staff. Very secure especially at night you have to show your room key to get past security. Rooms are spacious and clean. Beautiful views. Bed and pillows were super comfy. Large bathroom with unique lighting. Closet doors all lit up when you opened the doors (even the fridge). Window opened for some fresh air, not much but just enough. Parking directly across the street $78 for the night but if you have your ticket validated at the hotel it is only $50 to park. I will definitely be back!

2022-05-31This hotel was so convenient! Close to Times Square, shopping, dining, Broadway, etc. The rooms were comfortable. We had a down comforter with a hole in it, and it looks like someone tried to repair it with masking tape. We also would randomly have housekeeping service (maybe due to pandemic or staffing issues?), where some days they came and some days they didnt. The check in staff was so friendly and nice, as well as concierge and luggage services. We had difficulty with check out, and some miscommunications about our bill. Corrections were mostly made, but it took forever via app chat, because we had to get to the airport. We had been given breakfast vouchers, but the hotel restaurant always looked at us like we had 3 heads when we handed them the vouchers, and we ended up paying for two breakfast meals. All in all, it was a hotel that worked for us, and we would be willing to stay there again.

2022-03-02Positive: The Westin had a wonderful location. It is within walking distance to the major attractions. The building was secure and has excellent front door staff. I never felt insecure up to the after hours let check. Lastly the room was spacious and clean w/ view. Negative: There was no free internet not complementary breakfast. I had to request a washcloth which is strange. There were hand towels and body towels.

2022-05-28The bellhops and security at the front were so helpful. They treated us great and lined up our transportation to the airport when we left. The people up at the checkin werent quit at the same level as the guys at the front, but no real complaints. The housekeeping lady we had I think was the same for most of the days and she was very sweet and kind. The rooms and the hotel were all very clean and we had no issues with hearing any noise from other rooms or from the street. The location was great. Thank you!

2022-04-24First I would like to say I am not one to complain but I had no choice but to write this review. There is no Fridge in the room. There is no free internet. They also add a $30 surcharge per day for a resort fee. It can be redeemed at the restaurant but NO ONE says that to you upon checking in.Really poor service from the moment I stepped in. I booked a room with 2 queen beds and received a room with 2 double beds. Rude front desk when I asked them to change to the correct room. When we got to the room the couch was missing. It appears is was taken out for no reason, there is just a big empty space where it should be.The walls are paper thin and the room next to us called about us being too loud when we are having a conversation at low volume. For the price of the room the service and overall atmosphere was totally unacceptable. I will be reaching out to corporate to make a formal complaint. One redeeming factor was the security and those who help with bags. Those people are great and should be given a raise.DO NOT STAY HERE, Complete waste of your money and time.

2022-05-311 start for the friendly front desk personnel. They were great.Hotel is very poorly maintained. No soundproof windows, you hear everything going on on the street at any time of the day. Forget about sleeping during the night. No soundproof walls, you hear conversations from the rooms down the hallway. It felt that there are 10 people in the room at any given time talking nonstop.Worst stay in Manhattan.

2022-05-15Friendly staff, large rooms and great location in Times Square. It did feel a little dated and the rooms could use a facelift. I might stay there again because the price is reasonable, but I’ll probably look for a nicer place to stay. The lobby is a great place to chat with people as well.

2022-01-07Excellent hotel!! We stay here from Dec 23-28th on the 43rd floor with a view of the Empire State Building. This hotel was clean and nicely decorated, within walking distance of everything, and the staff was so nice and friendly. There are 8 elevators and they’re really fast, there was hardly ever any wait. Also the concierge service was awesome! On the day we checked out they helped us set up a car service to get us back to the airport and it was a lot cheaper than using an Uber. We will definitely be back next time we visit NYC!!

2022-03-01I like to give a place the benefit of the doubt, but for a hotel experience they have a lot of room to improve.Pro is that the room is centrally located, Times Square is around the corner. Also clean.Con is the room is very small, at least for the price. But we’ll toss that to New York. We had someone knocking at our door around 8:45 am telling us to check out and that she was going to clean the room for the next guest. Mind you check out is at noon. We reminded her that. We requested some towels and it took almost an hour, we called twice to get it.I’m not sure if it’s discrimination or if they just didn’t want us there, the atmosphere wasn’t inviting. Definitely have room to improve with customer service.

2022-03-21Positive: The hotel was impressive at first sight. The staff was attentive and helpful all the way around. When we arrived in our room I poked my head back out into the hallway and asked a staff member for a refrigerator and he was back in seconds. Negative: There¿s not one negative thing I can say about our stay.
