Love the hotel Nice rooms and view. Weve been staying there since a few years when we’re in NY. But in the meanwhile its a bit behind the time. But first the positiv things.Pro:- nice gym- Comfortable rooms- nice staff- nice view- good location- spaceCons:- No normal speed wifi (you have to pay for it - very old fashion and not customer friendly)- No Vegetarian or Vegan Options on the Room Service Menu- things you can buy at your room are there for month (you can see it)- the last two time where always something which was broke and nobody cared- situation for the staff at the reception is not very employee friendlyBut at the end its a comfortable and nice Hotel.
DON’T BOOK!!! Hotel is a fraud.- Pool: even if you are staying at the hotel you have to pay $400 for the seats. The free seats (not facing the pool, literally in the back of the house) have timed slots so you basically have to leave.- Food: horrible & super limited menu. And breakfast opens at 8AM so if you need to work… though luck!- Staff: clueless and rude
Our bed did not have a fitted sheet. It had been made with two flat sheets and I was very grossed out by the possibility of the flat sheet moving while we slept and coming in contact with the dirty mattress cover. Also the front desk does not stock or sell any kind of Advil/Tylenol/Motrin. I have never stayed anywhere that did not have those resources. Even then, the concierge didn’t offer to go and get some, which I am not used to. Poor quality of people and service. Will not be coming back. The restaurant on the roof is a joke as well. Do not waste your time or money on this “luxury” property.
Would not recommend! There was music blasting from the club across the street until 4:30am and the manager on duty gave no refund for the night and told me I should’ve contacted 311 to make a complaint. They let me check out the next evening with no charge but made me pay full price for the previous sleepless night.
The rooms are meh, not 5 star quality. Service is def not 5-star quality. The courtyard on the ground floor plays very loud music from 5:30am until 11pm and you can hear it in the hotel room. Woke me up everyday during my stay.Don’t really recommend, take your $ elsewhere.
Booked my family here for my graduation. The food is mediocre the pool area is poorly designed with the “free” lawn chairs in the shade on one side of the bldg and minimum $220 chairs next to the actual pool. They advertise it as a rooftop pool but its on the 4th floor so technically on the roof of the parking garage? There was dirt in my food at the cafe-style restaurant and in general the food was not great. They also charged credit cards being used to hold the room days before checkout after they promised they’d wait to day of checkout. In general this place is not worth the hype. All of their money has gone into advertising and social media and the Mcarren Hotel and Pool is 100 times better for half the price
William Vale? More like William Fail. My partner and I live in the area and wanted to stop at William Vale for a quick staycation, mostly for pool access. What a rip off!! For starters, pool wasn’t even open on Monday which is apparently a thing that no one cared to share when we booked our stay. In addition to the pool being closed on Mondays, “luxury seating” by the pool ranges from $250-$600 a day for GUESTS! Otherwise you’re forced around the other side of the building on cheap lawn chairs (nowhere near the pool!) and they treat you like a peasants — & even that you have to register for in advance, they have multicolor wristbands to keep certain people away from the pool - sounds relaxing right?Food and drinks will run you $5-$15 more than area bars and restaurants which are on par, if not better than the food served in the hotel/hotel bars and restaurants.Rooms are average in comparison to other 4-5 star hotels in NYC. Big issues with heating/cooling in our room as it was consistently freezing and the water pressure in the shower was horrible and when the water pressure was strong the water was scalding hot, very uncomfortable. The hotel as whole felt like a false advertisement. Elevators were slow and creaky? Yikes. Gym is VERY small for a hotel of this size, maybe 8 people can be in there at a time? I’d imagine it’s impossible to get in there if the hotel was busy. The only saving grace is the Westlight which is a gorgeous rooftop bar which has amazing views of the NYC skyline. You can visit this place without being a guest at the hotel.Save your time, save your money. Stay somewhere else.
First of, the light in the bathroom that is always on…No desk whatsoever to read or work - and the room is super small compared to 4-stars hôtel in the city. The food we ordered from Leica (in room dining) was super fatty.Staff was borderline rude when it comes to simply ask to extend a little bit the stay (I received at least 3 calls in less than 2 min - while I just needed a few minutes to finish up the bags). Come on..
5 stars? LOL. This hotel could be nice, but the staff makes it feel like you’re at a Holiday Inn Express. It makes sense that it’s under bankruptcy protection. The manager, Peter Ybarra, acts like a thug running a strip club. Room service is disgusting. It comes in a brown bag in take out containers. If you want to go to a restaurant, good luck. They treat the dining experience like a nightclub 20 years ago. They are more concerned about pretending to look “cool” than servicing guests. Ot couldn’t be further away from 5 stars. 2 or 3 tops. There are many other hotels that would love your business. Don’t stay here.
I give credit for their view and they address your problems fast but the room is fairly small and their doors are heavy so they become quite noisy in the morning and the dimming lights in the bathroom will wake you up. whats the point of everything else when you cant sleep well in a hotel? Its not worth it in my opinion.
I wanted to love this hotel. We come to Brooklyn often and I work as a software engineer and frequent NY.I called a month in advance to our stay and spoke about taking my husband to Brookyln and surprising him with a photoshoot. She said there were great views from the roof and made no mention of consent forms.Fast forward to this past week, our photographer ( who had shot numerous clients in this hotel). We were denied from taking any photos outside of our room.We were made very clear by management that we were not welcome and noone made any efforts to help us figure out a solution that could still accommodate the policy she was claiming we would violate by taking a photo in the hallway or on the balcony that was not open for business. We booked this hotel and this photographer because the work he did in this area and had to adjust plans on location ( great for heels, NOT)It is disheartening that William Vale is selling this as 5-star treatment.Room is decent but do not come here expecting the same service you would get at a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons.
I arrived to find out that the room that they show u on the website, and the room you actually get, has nothing to do one with another. Then I find out that the TV isnt working because they didnt pay the TV bill so the whole building TV is shut. Long story short, I paid almost $700 for the worst stay Ive ever experienced. Beds arent comfortable at all. Whatever, what a waste of a stay. The fact that the front desk is telling me that everybody is complaining about how they lie on their website, didnt help me have a better stay and definitely didnt help me get my money back. So $700 wasted for absolutely NOTHING. I wouldnt touch this place again even for free. Even the phone in the room isnt working (I guess its also on the same bill that wasnt paid)
This hotel Makes me uncomfortable and i feel cheated. No service 5 star hotel. Understaffed. People can just come into your room without permission. They charged me 500 dollars without any warning for “smoking” in the room because there was “evidence”. The evidence is my rolling tabacco laying on the table with my weed bag. Since when is it illegal to just own things? To make things worse, one of the front desk was incredibly condescending to me, and Probably racist. Refused to listen to what I have to say and made a asinine comment against my question. Their night acting manager, is a British woman whom seem to have very little experience in dealing with clients in a 5 star hotel. Refused to help us out and simply didn’t care about what we had to say.I’m not one of those arrogant people that flaunts their money and their status, it is clear to me that they only service well to those that is deemed worthy of their time. They had been charging bouble to my card and to my partner’s card and was told they cannot release it until we check out. This entire situation is incredibly discerning for us. We are currently relocation and are basically homeless and had to stay in a hotel until our apartment is available for us to move in. We are losing so much money just having stay here, and Williamvale, so called 5 stars, is ‘helping us’ lose even more money.Their cleaning lady likes to knock on our door and tell us we are suppose to check out when we have another night of booking. This hotel is incredibly over priced, next to zero service except the one woman at the front desk (she is very nice), they come into your room and try to make money off of you through your personal belongings, they are very rigid and very snooty.I’ve probably stayed in at least 60 5 star hotels accorded the world, this hotel, is all show no substance. Looks pretty on the outside, ugly inside.
We had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience with the William Vale Hotel. I booked a suite at this hotel 6 months in advance to celebrate proposing to my partner and they cancelled the booking without any call or notice. The reservation was cancelled and we had to find another hotel in NYC the same night of our proposal. When we called to ask for help the front desk was very unapologetic and did not make any effort to help us. This was a special day that was planned for nearly half a year. Very disappointed with the services and unprofessionalism here.
The room service cookies are incredible. The elevator situation is HORRIBLE. FIGURE IT OUT PEOPLE. Maybe open up the Westlight elevators to take guests to their floors too before prime westlight time. There shouldn’t be a 10 minute wait to get upstairs. Westlight view is great though.
Lacking attention to detail. February activity signs still up on March 2nd, then nothing. I guess March is boring this year? Some things were broken. My room was Manhattan level of small. The top floor bar is pretty cool and has nice city views. Really close to LGA for flights.
The house keeper, Janet Beltran, made me feel like a VIP right from the beginning of my visit, until my checking out day. Her professionalism is par none. Next on my very satisfied stay at this amazing hotel is Peter, the General Manager. What a beautiful aura this man has! He made me feel so welcomed, as if we were longtime friends. Thank you so much Peter for your beautiful hospitality, continue to stay true, it will never be forgotten. Continuing with my very satisfied experience at The William Vale, are the front desk professionals; Oya, Luis, and Andreana. Your warm welcoming energy was delicious to my soul. Thank you so much guys. Lastly, the most amazing experience in the Winter Spa barrels, which were happily attended by Tien & Adam. That rooftop with the most amazing view of the city skyline, absolutely priceless! This first time experience, has solidified it will not be my last.
First time staying here and it is a wonderful hotel! The staff are amazing! They are so kind and friendly and go out of their way to please you and help you. The front desk clerk made sure we had a great room with the most amazing view of New York! It was my birthday and they gave me a bottle of champagne and truffles. The rooms are really clean and modern with lovely floor to ceiling glass doors. The bed is very comfortable and the rooms are large for NY. The shower is heaven! The roof top bar is very nice too. The price of the room was not anymore expensive then anywhere else we have stayed and worth it as you get what you pay for! We will stay here whenever we come to NY. The area is full of great places to shop and eat.
Rating the Winter Spa only, didnt stay at the hotel. Their sauna experience gets a stamp of approval of a gal from Finland, land of more saunas than cars! With professional Harvia stoves you cannot go wrong, extremely happy with our experience and well be back when the hot tub is running too. Friendly and helpful customer service and felt very exclusive and private sauna session.
The William Vale Hotel is the absolute best hotel in the entire NY area! They best views, staff, rooms and location! Williamsburg shopping and restaurants are just a five minute walk. The hotel is stunningly beautiful and the staff are the most friendly and helpful crew ever. The views of NY are the best views anywhere! We love this hotel and will only book all our stays here from here on out.
The rooms were great but the service at the front desk was horrible. My friends and I checked in at this hotel for a wedding. One of our friends got into town late so he went straight to the wedding and decided to check in after the wedding. We went in as a group and waited for him to check in only to find out they charged his credit card and canceled his reservation as a no show. I understand that he got there past midnight, but he was charged for a room and was not allowed to stay in it. And they were not fully booked. The front desk couldn’t show us the policy for no shows and they refused to give him a room without rebooking. This was terrible service and we will not be staying at this place again.
Nice hotel but very small rooms.... The price match (of what you see on other websites that list this hotel) is a scam they wont price match you, I showed them a price on priceline for $300 so they said book with us for $350 and we will match it.... Comes to check in and they dont match it, a bunch of lies low class
We’ve tried to stay here twice because I thought the first time was maybe a fluke. I really want this place to be nice. The staff is wonderful. Unfortunately the hotel hasn’t invested in an infrastructure that will bring comfort to their guests. I have lots of examples, one is that there isn’t a concierge, or there are phones on every floor to reach the front desk but none of them are actually connected to the wall so you have to go floor by floor to find a functioning ice machine (I found one four floors down). Both times we stayed in the wrap around king which is nice but generally inconvenient because of the lack of amenities. I literally never leave one star reviews (look in my history) but this time we left and went home after spending four hours in our room so I felt it was appropriate.
I’ve been in multiple hotels and the experience after staying one night was overall the same as other hotels in the area. The food and the view from the room we got deserves more than 10 stars! Totally worth it!Why did I gave this place 4 stars then? Just because with the window and everything else perfectly closed, I could smell the smoke from other rooms inside our room. The bed and sheets were comfy and clean. No sleepers in the room (at least we couldn’t find them.) If you love to watch TV, be aware that the channel selection is extremely limited, but you can stream your favorite content from your own phone/tablet with either Apple SharePlay or Android (streaming services are not included)Wifi was reliable but the speeds are limited unless you’re willing to pay more. Will I stay in this hotel again? Absolutely!
Check in for 1 day, worst decision ever.A young lady assisted me with check in but was no help to me. Originally I booked a room with wrap around balcony for $768, but to get room on higher floor I had to pay $324 since it was considered an upgrade. I refused to pay a little over a thousand dollars for 1 night and no special occasion. So I downgraded to a different room just to get on a higher floor. But see the problem didn’t end there, the young lady charged me for both rooms. I called and spoke with “Chris” and he was kind enough to issue a refund. But the refund never came back to me. Not sure where the error came into play. As I type this I’ve been on the phone calling the hotel since 6:27pm(PT). I was able to get the overnight manager (overnight female manager working September 30,2021), but my call got disconnected and she has yet to pick up the phone again. Totally not cool. I wasn’t rude or anything to her, so to treat a guest like this is totally not cool.
I didnt stay overnight at the hotel but I did drink inside the rooftop bar and I recommend doing so. We were able to talk without yelling, the service was wonderful and the drinks and cocktails selection was on point.. and the views?! At night you will have NYC glittering at your feet. It was a memorable yet low key experience, I suggest it to anyone.
Positive: I did not enjoy my stay at all. I stood because I did not want to loose my money Negative: Service from staff, the fact that I was told my food would be delivered to my room and it was left in the lobby for 40 mins than the food hot cold and it was not pleasant.
Worst stay weve ever had in a nice hotel. I was here for two weeks. First and foremost, its LOUD. Music from the rooftop bar many nights, loud enough that its difficult to sleep. Music from the club next door on the weekends, loud enough that its IMPOSSIBLE to sleep. Doors slam at all hours. The much-advertised twice-daily housekeeping means that housekeeping comes by a second time in the evening to see if you need anything. I wouldve loved to have prevented this, except my do-not-disturb (which is a light you turn on by pushing a button) didnt work for my entire stay. One night housekeeping knocked at 9:45pm, after I was already asleep. When I didnt answer they keyed in, and when they found the door was barred, they closed the door and continued knocking. Calls to the front desk are often unanswered. Halfway through our stay, we were offered a complimentary meal at the hotel restaurant in compensate us for all the trouble wed had, but then they called us an hour beforehand to tell us that the restaurant was actually not open that day. We took a reservation at the Westlight bar instead, and when we finished our meal no one there had any idea the meal was supposed to be comped. Finally, to cap things off, after we checked out and received our bill, there was a meal on it that wasnt ours; apparently it got charged to the wrong room. My company is HQed in Brooklyn, so I visit often, but I will absolutely not stay in this hotel ever again.
This hotel is beautiful and modern. Very clean and bright. I love coming here and staying for a bit when I am on a business trip. The area around is very nice and industrious with lots of places to eat and hang around as well. It is always clean and has great service. It is pricey which is the only flaw because even if you just need a room for 6 hours it will cost upwards of $300. I do think they have great accommodations but keep an eye out when looking for something less costly.
The short version is that we wont stay again.Yes, the location and view are incredible, but the price is just not worth it for what you get. Save yourself some $$$ and just go to Westlight, their rooftop restaurant to enjoy the view. The hotel leaves A LOT to be desired, the bed was uncomfortable, the room tiny, the bathroom door very difficult to open and close, it is a barn door that takes a lot of force to push. We felt totally cramped and it was hard to relax and enjoy. A lot of rooms also smell like weed, which is quite unpleasant.
Was lucky enough to enjoy a suite on the 19th floor of the William Vale this weekend for my birthday. The views facing out to Brooklyn and Manhattan are simply beyond. The bath tub was a dream. The bed was so comfortable. Everything was absolutely perfect. (The only thing I will say is that you need to take note that the pool is managed completely separately from the hotel and you should see those reviews for more info 😊)
My fiancé and I stayed here for a few nights to celebrate our engagement and my birthday and we really enjoyed our stay. I was a little concerned about staff being rude after reading some reviews but our experience was great. Sara who checked us in was so sweet in helping us and she gave us a great room. The bellman was kind and would say hello every time he saw us and the housekeeping did an amazing job at cleaning our rooms. The location is great and the views are spectacular.
AMAZING!!!!!!This hotel/bar is absolutely breath taking. I was able to make a reservation to the rooftop bar and restaurant with ease. From the moment you walk in, your greeted with a really warm welcome. When you step off the elevator, you have the beautiful city view just glowing. The outdoor dining was one that I wish everyone could experience. The waiters and the staff were always making sure that I was satisfied and taken care of. The atmosphere was just indescribable. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone just looking for an exotic luxury experience with outstanding service included!!!!Thank you to all the staff and waiters/waitresses that made my stay much more pleasant and exciting. You guys are awesome!!!
I cant imagine why this hotel can get away with saying they are the only luxury hotel in Brooklyn. While the rooms and views are very nice the hospitality lacks a lot. We chose the william vale for our wedding weekend and several of our guests also stayed. I had been emailing with a senior member of their team about our rooms because we rented a room for my husband and I as well as an extra room to get ready in so we needed help getting some items. I checked in on Wednesday night and at the front desk when I mentioned our wedding there wasnt even a congratulations. I got to the room and the flowers my sister had sent were not delivered despite arriving at the hotel earlier that afternoon. There was no welcome card or gift to welcome us for our special weekend. And while this is a small touch it would have gone a long way--weve gotten warmer welcomes when at hotels for no special occasion. I thought maybe by Friday we would have been welcomed but I emailed to express our disappointment. The response took no responsibility, saying we were checking into our second room (which they knew we would not be staying in) and that thats when welcome gifts are given.... I said I had checked in two days prior with my husband and they didnt even respond!!! We got a very unenthusiastic card and bottle of wine after asking for a welcome.. our venue claims the hotel usually does something really special for weddings but that wasnt our experience at all. The hotel is so loud, the bass from the roof hotel kept us awake all night. I really wish we had chosen any of the other many nice hotels in the area.
Pros. Front desk was wonderful. the gentleman checking in was fantastic.Cons. Rooms are cheaply done. cheap flooring, small, bathtubs are fiberglass free standing with sharp edges, really no attention to detail in the rooms for the price paid. . not very customer service oriented, elevators take forever. Everyone around us was smoking weed on the balconies, I went out and had a smoke and got a $500.00 charge for smoking in the room. room service was fair. valet is terrible. Beds are very cheap and springy like a two star location.
Positive: The location was perfect and the room was spotless. Also the front desk staff was very professional and helpful. Negative: Room wasn¿t anything special. It was difficult to figure out what switches went with what lights and the bed was a bit lopsided. We also ordered room service and the pizza was very burned. Can¿t believe they let it out of the kitchen. Not 5 star wor
Excellent view. I could see the Manhattan skyline from the bed. It was great to have a balcony to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the view. Clean and stylish room with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was well equipped with towels and toiletries, and had a large shower with a nicely pressured rain shower head. All the staff were upbeat and helpful. Room service breakfast was fresh and much better than expected. Easy check in and out. I will stay again.
We’ve stayed here several times but not because we love it, it’s just in the location we need and they take pets. I would not call it not a luxury hotel. The front desk staff is great but it’s pretty disappointing in every other way. Whenever we want something it’s always a chore to get it, they never replenish the coffees in the room, you need to make all sorts of reservations for the pool. I’m waiting half an hour for a plate and silverware. I don’t think I’m going to get this plate. It just happens all the time. We’re currently kicked out of our sublet because it flooded and just want something to work, but nope not this hotel!
Gotham suite with wraparound balcony was amazing. Pool was great too. Didnt love the food though - at least not the room service options. Elevators suck too. They only have 2 so during the day, they take literally forever. Beautiful place though. I would stay there again.
I stayed at The William Vale for three nights in November 2019. What an amazing hotel. I was greeted with such kindness and this continued throughout my stay. I booked the king room and my room was situated on the 14th floor. The room was fantastic. Clean, modern and had a fantastic view over Brooklyn. The rooms were big for New York standards. I can’t complain about this hotel. The gym was great, the rooftop bar was fantastic, and all of the facilities were clean and modern. The restaurant located inside the hotel, Luca, was delicious. I dined here for breakfast and dinner. The food was divine and the service was fast and top-notch. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The hotel is in the perfect location in Williamsburg. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you are visiting Brooklyn.
NIce rooms with great views, though VERY small. But the worst Internet connection ever. In 2021, what kind of hotel that charges you $600 a night makes you pay extra for internet that is good enough to do a Zoom call? Ill never stay here again. Also, the rooftop bar is not part of the hotel and so you cant even use it unless you book in advance. Whats the point?
Cons:- Don’t require vaccination cards OR masks (which is shocking that one or the other isn’t required)- They say the rooms are soundproof but they very much are not- Bellman was requested but never came and didn’t help with bags and with a kid and three large bags it was an issue- Had to wait 20 minutes for Valet- If you order food, they don’t bring it to your room- Stains on the couch and pillows in the room- Stains on the pillows on the bed- NOT dog friendly: asked for bowels and a bed (they promote it) and they never came- Booked with an offer that included prioritized Delayed check-out and the woman at the front desk was incredibly rude, and after pushing was only given 30 minutes and then hung up on my when I was mid sentence. When I called back no one answered. Finally I spoke to manager and he accommodated a one hour check out. Keep in mind the hotel is nearly empty the next night and prices dropped about $500 so there were no shortages of rooms.Overall super disappointed. I’ve come to the WV for dinner and drinks many times and was looking forward to staying in a highly rated “dog friendly” hotel as a native New Yorker. Don’t waste your money. Stay at the Williamsburg Hotel instead. Better quality rooms and much nicer staff.
This is easily the worst hotel stay and experience of my life. The staff doesn’t treat guests with respect nor care, and dismissed all formal complaints. We spent $1000 for a bed, absolutely zero service. You couldn’t get in touch with room service at all during our stay, and staff on three different occasions directed us to establishments in the hotel that were closed. There is nowhere to eat or get drinks during the day, including at the hotel pool where there was no service in the morning. We received zero apologies. If I was an older man I probably would’ve been treated with more respect, but seems unlikely given the experience and the “employees” I encountered. Do not stay here. The hotel Williamsburg looked much more enjoyable from my balcony.
I recently had my wedding in Brooklyn and had a hotel block here, Troy was my coordinator. 4 weeks before the wedding, the other hotel I had a block at the Hotel Indigo, cancelled all the rooms but didnt actually notify all the guests. Troy helped me rebook, shuffle and was so accommodating, helpful, and went above and beyond to help make everything work out. He made everything so much better when it could have been a nightmare. Upon arrival, I will saw it was a bit hectic, they dont have night baggage help so the wonderful irishman (Im ashamed to say I forget his name now but he was fantastic) behind the front desk helped me carry 5 trips worth of wedding stuff. The rooms were gorgeous, the staff was all very friendly, and all my guests had a great time.
We reserved a queen city-view room but were upgraded upon check-in to a king. The hotel was amazing, the room was amazing, the view was amazing. We needed a few things along the way and they were quick to respond and get them to us. Room service was great value. All staff members were amazing.
Such a great looking space. Menu is more tapas- like, but all our choices were tasty. Wound up ordering five different plates. We really liked the tempura buns and the empanadas. Drinks are interesting and flavorful, butpricey. Great service. Can be an expensive but the views..a nice place to take a date.
I’m here now, and the hotel is beautiful. But they don’t let you know on the website to book you pool time as soon as you book the room, they said the pool was a heated pool and it wasn’t. The food by the pool close at 6, so if you have a time slot for the pool, don’t think you will be eating there. The front deck took 3 hours to answer the phones! Nice hotel but I wouldn’t come back here!
Was really looking forward to my visit, but even before the first night complete, could not wait to leave. The good-great view and balcony; the bad- everything else. Can’t drive up to front door, no coordination between valet and bell service, basically on your own to get help with bags. Poor internet and want to charge for upgraded service for a $600 room. Rooms poorly designed, have to move furniture to find an outlet in living area, light controls totally confusing as lights in one room are controlled in another room. And good luck if you want to open the sofa bed, need a moving service. Obviously the designers did not stay here. And if there is a concert in a neighboring hotel, forget about a restful sleep.
Overall this felt like a polished Hyatt. The staff were rude, the rooms were very problematic in that a lot of things weren’t working/not stocked. Food was terrible. The pool was a disaster. They said it was fully booked but could see not a soul there from my balcony. My daughter gathed her knee there and the staff did nothing but try to CYA.What’s you’re getting here is a balcony and 2 hours max at the pool for exorbitant pricing. Don’t forget the wedding venue next store that plays all the wedding classics until 1 am.Check out the 1 Hotel at Brooklyn Bridge. Great views, amazing rooms and a pool!
My wife wanted to go to the William Vale after our wedding. We were told that there was vale included in our package as well as $40 for breakfast. They gave us a list of amenities they said was included in the package. But we found out that they actually charge for everything. So they advertised our room package for $750 plus tax. But they charged us over a thousand. It’s not about the money for me. It’s about being cheated and the false advertisement. I feel this establishment is full of crooks. I will never go back
Great location, beautiful rooftop restaurant with stunning views. For the (still pricy) rooms I would have expected more value for money. Although the room is nice and the view great there are too many details just not right. To name a few:- when we wanted to take a beer from the fridge it turned out there was water in the bottle and not beer. They replaced it quickly but with a warm beer- you constantly bump into the bed base with you ankles (and it hurts!)- crackled wall with visible water damage right under the airconditioning ventSo nothing spectacular off, just details that you expect to be right when you pay top dollar in a place like this.
The location is outstanding and the rooms are spacious, clean, and well appointed for NYC.However, the service was terrible and dont expect to be able to access any of the hotels outdoor spaces. All the patios were closed in April despite lovely weather and Westligbt reservations werent available despite weeks of notice. I was told theyd preference hotel guests on the Westlight wait list and in case of cancellations, however I tried two nights and was told rudely by the hostesses that wasnt something they did and they refused to take my name. Housekeeping never came even though I requested it twice and left the room to allow access. The concierge wont make reservations anywhere on your behalf (very odd) and Im not sure what their function is because they had no recommendations for anything in the area. Finally my room door was broken and it was over an hour before the desk would agree to move my room because they wanted maintenance to confirm - this was at 11PM. Beautiful hotel, however I have no idea how they scored a 5-star designation. Ive had better service at roadside Holiday Inns! Also, I provided this same feedback to the hotel directly. Crickets! I write far more positive reviews than negative ones. The William Vale was just inspiring enough to write this lengthy assessment ...
This is a lovely hotel I’ve been here a couple times I love the fact of the rooms have balconies that is unbelievable and it’s hard to beat! They have a for mini bars which is great call the bathroom is very modern. I love that now during Covid they still have complementary little knickknacks you can ask for over the phone and they’ll bring it up like robes and slippers which is great for after your shower! I love this place, & it has two great food options! One upstairs and now down!
1. The check in is at 3 but the room wasn’t ready till almost 42. The pool was fully booked even so I was trying to make reservation prior to arrival nobody was answering my emails or phone3. There was no other space to hang out in hot day4. Room was nice but small5. Stuff was friendly6. The restaurant upstairs had really limited reservations. Food was so so with not too much to chose from.Over all I would never come back. The hotel definitely doesn’t feel like 5*. Super disappointing
My partner and I booked a deluxe corner room for my 30th birthday weekend. It was VERY expensive and when we arrived we were beyond disappointed. The walls were scuffed, the curtains were ripped and stained, the linens were cheap, the patio furniture was stained, almost every piece of furniture was damaged in some way. The manager came and looked at the room and said he was embarrassed by the state of it. The only thing they could offer us was a bigger room that didn’t have the balcony we wanted in the corner suite. So we got a refund and went home. The staff was fine but didn’t offer us any incentive to stay after the fiasco with the original room. It was overall a hugely disappointing experience and luckily we are local to Brooklyn and were able to go home. This hotel is wildly overpriced, everything from the flooring to the curtains were cheap. Don’t waste your money here — go on a real trip instead.
My husband and I stayed at the William Vale the night of our wedding. The lady at the front desk, when we checked in, was incredibly rude and unhelpful. We requested to pay for extended check out but she refused and told us we have to call the front desk in the morning to see if there was availability..... this is a hotel with at least 19 floors on the night of a blizzard... I highly doubt the hotel was miraculously gonna be booked within a couple of hours. Our hotel room was beautiful but the bathtub did not drain properly while showering. And the water kept going from hot to cold, hot to cold throughout our shower. The next morning we had multiple people knock on our door to clean before check out time.Once we finally packed up and went down stairs to check out, there was a new lady at the front desk who was very sweet.Overall, we did not appreciate our stay at the William Vale. It was a very unpleasant end to our special day.
My husband and I stayed for our wedding night. We stayed in a very expensive suite. The room was clean and the room was amazing. However, from the beginning, the front desk clerk was very grumpy and very unhelpful. He seemed to be bothered by just the checking in process. He was short and curt the entire time and in every interaction afterwards. We went downstairs to ask if they had any phone chargers. He sat in the back room and called out to us to tell us they didnt and nothing was open. The next morning, we found phone chargers connected behind the alarm clock. We couldnt get a straight answer on the late check out until the morning of and they only extended it an hr. They took over an hr to bring up a coffee and tea. The room was amazing, but every interaction with customer service was a huge downer. Will never stay again and wouldnt recommend to newlyweds. Go anywhere else if youre wanting to ride the high of your wedding.
Amazing location and modern, trendy design. If youve stayed at any hotel built in the past 5 years you will know what to expect re: the feel of it. We stayed one night for an anniversary (happened to be pride weekend) so it was BUSY. Overall we had a great time and would return. Id also stay here again over somewhere like the Williamsburg. Details:Things I liked:1. They had the AC CRANKING both in the lobby and the room which was necessary because it was HOT. Tells me the room had been prepped well for us.2. Room was cute, thoughtfully designed. Good products in the bathroom. It had all the touches that made it feel like a luxury hotel which are somehow difficult for most hotels to nail.3. The check in staff made a point of acknowledging that we had been waiting when some irate woman tried to jump the line to complain and sent her to wait until those waiting patiently were taken care of. Calmly but firmly not allowing the person making a scene to disrupt the flow of customer service tells me this guy was experienced.4. Pool staff was willing to work with us to get the time slot we wanted for our anniversary pool day. For people complaining about the pool system - its NYC and pools are precious real estate in the summer. Plan and book your pool reservation IMMEDIATELY after booking (aka as soon as possible) to avoid getting screwed.Little improvements Id love to see:1. They only had one person working check in and he was doing a great job (wish I got his name) but clearly overwhelmed. Having to stand in a long line immediately upon arrival at a nice hotel is one of my biggest travel pet peeves. Staff your front desks, people! Or at least have some water/snacks/nice touches out for people while waiting.2. The elevator situation, ugh. The hotel has something like 18 floors and only 2 elevators for guests. They should reallocate one of the Westlight rooftop elevators for people actually staying in the hotel to mitigate this.Final note - it is not really a hotel that encourages lounging around and hanging out outside of your room. The lobby is more like a table and chair area than a place to chill. Many hotels are moving this way so youre encouraged to spend $$ at their facilities so, I get it. But, its annoying when youre early for check in, etc. So, plan accordingly and find somewhere else to wait (like the pool if you can plan ahead) or grab a drink near by.
ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. The hotel is “nice”, but not “luxurious” by any means. If you are looking for a spacious balcony and a nice view, this is your hotel. Otherwise, you can get actual “luxury” elsewhere in NYC for around the same, maybe even cheaper prices. And remember the square footage of the room, includes the big balcony, so don’t be surprised at the small size of the actual room. The front desk staff was nice enough. I stayed one night for a very special anniversary with my husband. They didn’t do anything special for us, but that was not a big deal. The elevator situation there is ABYSMAL. There are only two very SLOW elevators available for guests. The other two elevators are reserved for the lounge. Unfortunately for us, there was a wedding taking place during our stay, so it took forever to get up and down from our room. If your stay is uneventful, you’ll have a decent time. HOWEVER, book here at your own risk because if you have any issues and need to contact the hotel once you leave, YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN! After our stay, we were charged for mini bar usage. We did not use the mini bar, and anyone who regularly stays at hotels KNOWS the mini bar is a rip off and for desperation only. This is NYC, filled with anything you could want at any hour. So NO, we did not use the mini bar. HOWEVER, at this hotel, you are GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT. And trying to get anyone on the phone is next to IMPOSSIBLE. I messaged them through the booking site, I emailed them, I called over and over, until I finally got “Coco” on the phone. I tried to explain the situation and she just cut me off listing all the items they claimed I took, in a tone that said I was trying to pull a fast one. I was then told a meeting with the “mini bar department” had to be had and the manager Heidi would get back to me. She never did. Seriously! What happened to the customer is always right. Any real luxury hotel would have refunded me immediately. I paid nearly $500 for one night at their hotel. If I was desperate for screw top wine at 1 am, what would be the big deal to pay the $52 charge? Anyway, good luck if you stay here. Once they have your credit card they’re done with hospitality. They ultimately REFUSED to refund the erroneous charge, and I was forced to dispute the charge through my credit card company. Obviously, I will never stay here again, and neither will anyone I know after I get through telling them this ridiculous saga.
I am never one to leave any sort of review, as I am one who usually leaves constructive criticism for employees to do better. This ones different. So I called to book at about 10:00pm the evening that I booked. The gentlemen on the phone first off picked up in an unprofessional manner. You’d think I was booking an Airbnb, not a 5 star hotel. As someone who stays in hotels as well as owns a commercial cleaning company that services 5 star hotels on a nightly basis this was disturbing to me.When I arrived at about 12:30am there was not a single soul at the front desk. The actual security guard had to walk up to me after 15 minutes to apologize to me as his walkie talky calls to the front desk person were left unanswered for about 25 minutes. It took me 40 minutes to check in after a 2 hour drive from my location. This was the first issue. When I arrived up to the room there was a brown spot on my sheet. The room in general was clean, but as someone who owns a cleaning company, and someone who travels often this looked like human feces.I called the hotel myself a week after my stay and the gentlemen who answered was very nice. He said he’d deliver this message to the hotel, but it’s been another week and I haven’t heard one thing back. This is why I’m writing this review.Terrible experience overall. And for someone who stays in hotels in Brooklyn 2x a week they would’ve gained me as a long term weekly client. They had a second chance to contact me after I called, but this is why I’m here. I’m truly disappointed that I spent $700 for a 1 star experience. Maybe someone will actually contact me after this review? Who knows!
I have been trying to change my details for my wedding Suite for weeks now. No one ever answers the phone and when they do they send you over to the wedding service and no one picks up the phone there either. I have tried to reach Isabell I left numerous messages on her voicemail never returned any of them neither does she return my emails and she is supposed to be responsible for anything regarding weddings. To say the least I’ve only been calling to change my reservation And set up a viewing and I can’t even do that horrible service. This doesn’t seem like a luxury hotel at all
Although this place has great views - don’t waste your time or money staying at the hotel. Being our final night in NYC, having lived in Williamsburg for 5 years, we wanted our final night to be a little special - absolutely not worth it. All we wanted was to eat at one of the restaurants, have a nice room and hopefully a late checkout as our flight didn’t leave until the evening. Rooftop restaurant, West light, operates separately anyway, so no additional benefit to being a guest, Luca’s was closed for dinner the night we stayed and the rooms are small but fine - the kicker is that the staff are useless. The concept of getting a late checkout on a Monday when the place was less than half full was ‘impossible’. We asked upon booking, they said ask at checkin in, we asked at checkin and they said ask the day of checkout then we asked on the morning of checkout at 7am to be met with a resounding no. If they knew it wasn’t an option, why keep saying maybe but ask later - we could’ve made other arrangements. It was almost silly how unaccomodating they were and not offering any other suggestions was just weird. My recommendation is to stay at the hoxton or Wythe which are across the road, cheaper and have really nice staff. We have had friends visit and stay at those other hotels multiple times and the staff are always lovely.
Fabulous aesthetics & hardworking customer service!Upon arrival to the William Vale Hotel, I was assigned a standard room with a King bed and a balcony with the “Gotham view”. The room was rather small, although the glorious view coupled with the comfortable interior made for a pleasant space. After settling in, I noticed that the shower was not working at all! The hotel promptly sent an engineer who ultimately couldn’t fix it.Within an hour the front desk had new key cards sent to my room for a complimentary suite on the same floor. They are pretty rigid with the 11am check out, providing a 30 minute maximum extension.
We loved the balcony off of our room on the 16th floor with a view of the city, and the Westlight rooftop bar on the 22nd floor. I was a little nervous based on some recent reviews but we had a wonderful one night stay picking up our son from law school. Everything was clean and in good shape, the elevators worked fine with no waiting, the onsite valet parking with in and out privileges was convenient with no waiting, and check in was quick and very friendly, also with no waiting. Music seemed to stop by 11pm so no trouble getting to sleep either. It was a Tuesday night in May - such a fun stay, and we got a deal on Expedia too. Parking and the bar reflect to-be-expected big city rates. Highly recommend!
A friend ordered a green apple martini it will not able to make it. A beautiful view. The only thing I cannot seem to get used to these they put a time limit on the table. They expect you to sit down have a cocktail order some appetizers then maybe a small dinner and they want you out of there or within 2 hours.
For a five star hotel I was expecting a lot more. I understand that the hotel staff were busy, but being able to handle multiple customers is a sign of a good hotel. The food is decent, but not worth the price. Our first room wasnt cleaned properly. We were switched to a clean room but in light of Covid it is concerning. I noted it was my one year wedding anniversary but there were no additional perks offered. I would expect better from a five star hotel. Valet parking took a long time to bring the car around and the driver was not wearing gloves while in the vehicle. Though the service and amenities are ok, I dont believe it is worth the cost and wont plan on using the William Vale for future trips
Really enjoyed my stay. It was a birthday surprise for my love. Went in on a Monday. Check-in was fast and friendly. Darren took care of me. He was the manager if Im not mistaken. He was very welcoming. Didnt wait long for the elevator. The room for the most part was really nice. Im not going to nip-pick. The balcony view was amazing & I loved the deep soaking tub. I was able to request the complimentary items once I settled in. I made reservations at the Westlight. That was a good time. Hostesses were very friendly. Waitress was attentive and helpful when it came to what was on the menu. We were the last ones there but we werent rushed out. Ordered room service for breakfast. Came up quick. Food was good. Very over priced but I get it. Lastly, I locked myself out my room 30 minutes before checkout. Luckily I had my cell and called front desk for help. Spoke to two different ladies. They told me I had to come down stairs to identify myself, to get a new key. I told them I couldnt bc I didnt have shoes on and wasnt decent. One of them didnt care at all! After a little back and forth, after me telling her my ID is in my room, I had no shoes on a million times, they said they send up a robe and slippers. I wasnt trying to be difficult or lazy but I was embarrassed to go down in my pjs, barefoot and no mask. I had to wait for housekeeping which is understandable but I had an urgency bc I still have to pack all my stuff & get dressed. One of the girls mustve told (possibly) another manager to come up and help me get back in my room. So thankful for that. I know they were just doing their job and the protocol is to come down but the interaction felt like thats your problem idk what to tell you Anyways, would I go back? Absolutely. I just need to be careful and not lock myself out again. LOL
Impressive design, amazing views, great comfort and friendly staff. I booked the hotel on a recommendation from a friend who consistently advises me on great places to eat and stay. This place was no exception. The building stands out from blocks away and is equally well designed on the inside. The staff were incredibly friendly and accessible. Ultimately though, the views, the comfort of the rooms, and the amenities like the rooftop and bar are what make this a great hotel. Wish I had stayed longer than one night but hope to return.
Horrible customer service. The view and the food is amazing.Aside from that, me and my girlfriends split the bill from the rooftop restaurant and the waiter charged us each the total of the bill. So our total for 3 was $205 and we got charged $625.No one answers the phone, no one cares.
Honestly I don’t write many reviews for my stays at any hotel because they are usually fine. Although William Vale has great rooms and amazing views, I was very very disappointed in the after service of a 5 star hotel. After my stay of 6 nights, a total of close to $3,000, I would assume that the service after my stay would match that of a 5 star hotel. To my great disappointment, they charged me twice for my parking and although I know it may be protocol, they made me go through the hassle of finding my credit card transactions in order to provide proof. Obviously, that isnt a pleasant experience, but a part of me understood that although they messed up, in order to clear up any misunderstandings, it would be best to show them my card transactions to prove my stance. A staff member helped me with my complaint and apologized for the inconvenience, offering an upgrade at a lower rate to a suite room to make it up to me. I have tried to confirm this reservation for the past two weeks and she has been very poor at communicating even though I was willing to go through with the offer. I can not seem to get a hold of this staff member and it is frankly very annoying to realize that this five star hotel’s offer of an “upgrade” was a mere empty promise. I hope this one staff member isn’t representative of the whole organization. This is just an honest review of a hotel with superior amenities and facilities but sub par after service so I hope anyone who finds service important finds this review helpful as well. I am rather disappointed...
I decided to do a staycation for my Birthday celebration and chose the William Vale because of the lovely Manhattan skyline views and enclosed rooftop cabanas for outdoor dining. The winter rooftop cabanas were charming and cozy. The food was excellent. The views from the Gotham room were gorgeous and the customer service impeccable. I will be a frequent visitor to this amazing hotel. Special shoutout to the front desk staff for their incredible professionalism and special birthday upgrade!
Since COVID my partner and I have been staying at the various nice hotels in the city to try to mix things up and had been very much looking forward to visiting this location given its history and all of the marketing around it being one of the best hotels in NYC/Brooklyn. Our stay wasnt bad, but its not worth the money nor hype that this place receives. First getting up and down to the rooms took forever because of the limited number of elevators. Also every time I tried to go up to our room I had to wait at least for two elevators to pass because hotel staff was using the guest elevators to transport things. It would have been ok if it hadnt been things that probably should have been transported on a service elevator like laundry, trash, or dishes. Next our hotel room thermostat didnt work and once it got cold at night we couldnt turn up the heat. We called downstairs and they sent up a technician to help but they did next to nothing other than saying it was working. Also the wifi was super spotty and had a hard time connecting to it on my iphone. It was constantly cutting out while we tried to use my phone to stream televisions shows (as they dont have the popular streaming apps built into their tv system like many other luxury hotels have had for years now). I will say the hotel staff was very polite and friendly which is something that I do value. The hotel room was ok, your typical NYC hotel that is small and not much space to move it compared to anywhere else in the country. The decor is nothing to rave about nor that stylish in my opinion. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant. The food was decent, but once again not really worth the price it commanded. The service was slight off too in the sense that one of the main entrees came out 15 minutes before the other dish was completed. This was odd given that the two items were fairly basic of tacos and a burger. So one persons dish got cold waiting for the other to arrive. I will say the rooftop restaurant is probably one of the nicest and cutest areas in the entire hotel.
The William Vale is in desperate need of some TLC. I stayed in a Gotham Corner suite and the only positive I have for my entire experience — the room, restaurants, amenities, and service — is the view of Manhattan; it’s the only reason this isn’t a 1 star review.Check-in took ~20 minutes because there was only one staff member present and their credit card processing system was down. I had to try four different cards before they admitted it was something on their end. Then we waited around for a manager to try and fix the system only to be told they’ll sort it out later.Next, I have to mention the elevators, which are some of the slowest and least reliable elevators I’ve ever been in. One of them was broken half the time, the buttons are worn and sometimes don’t light up / register when you press them, the card reader in the elevator barely works, and one night an elevator apparently got stuck with people in it. One time, it took us 10 min just to get up to our room. The suite checks all the boxes on paper. A huge balcony, floor to ceiling windows, and a bathtub with views of the Manhattan skyline *chefs kiss*. But in reality, the state of the room was absolutely terrible. The “hardwood” floors felt like cheap laminate. The room was absolutely tiny, we could barely find a spot to unpack suitcase. The doors to the balcony were rickety, the door to the bathroom squeaked loudly and didn’t fully close. The curtains and rugs were stained. The walls scuffed. The bed didn’t even fit the bed frame (how is this even possible), the mini bar was locked, and there were no bathrobes. Half of the furniture on the balcony was also tied up in a corner with no padding. I wish I took more photos but other reviews also confirm the state of the rooms. After the initial excitement over the view wore off we tried calling the front desk to get some of this fixed.Never have I ever stayed in a hotel let alone a motel where it has been so hard to reach the front desk. Dialing the front desk gets you an ad for the hotel. Concierge is a dead line. Room service picked up and they told us they’d have the front desk reach out but they never did. And trying to go down in person means dealing with the elevators again... somehow the experience offered by “Williamsburg’s only true luxury hotel” is one of being trapped in your room. This was a theme across the entire hotel: everything was poorly maintained and understaffed. At one point I tried to use the gym but going down to the 4th floor revealed what I can only guess was a massive flood because there was cardboard everywhere and an awful sewer-like stench. The gym was locked and only available by appointment so I had to go back upstairs and call to make one. They told me someone would be there to unlock the gym at the start of my appointment yet no one showed up after I waited for 15 min in that disgusting smelling hallway. I took it as a sign from the universe that I shouldn’t use the gym, who knows what state it’s in.During our stay we had fondue at the Winter Village and dinner at Leuca and both came out to around $100pp all in. The food was very so-so and definitely not worth it. Also, the “ice skating” rink at the Winter Village is really just a plastic floor that is supposed to mimic ice and reserving a “chalet” (aka a plywood box) at the Winter Village does not come with skating, which is extra. All in all, my stay at the William Vale was an excellent exercise in anger management. It was honestly so bad and so many things went wrong that looking back it’s funny. Truthfully, I think the pandemic has really had a toll on the hotel. You can really see them cutting costs when it comes to staffing, maintenance, and the quality of the goods and services they provide. If management could somehow cut costs by making the view worse I’m sure they would, fortunately for us they can’t. This hotel has the potential to be great, but it’s a disaster at the moment and I would save your money for somewhere else like the Standard. Just take the L into Williamsburg instead.
Stay was good..would have given it a 4 but the bathroom door door wouldnt close properly or easily at all and they requested to get maintenance to come and fix it which was shocking because I maintenance issues should be addressed before my arrival. Good location - older elevators with a wait I guess thats out of control because of covid. You definitely will not get anyone at the front desk after 9pm. If you need towels or anything like that youll have to go down and get them. Cant tell you how many times I had to go downstairs to ask for towels/wash cloths. I had kids with me and they had 2 towels and 2 wash cloths. The struggle.
Incredible view from our room balcony! Bed was VERY comfortable. We booked the last seats at the pool in advance. When we got there the pool host told us we would be sitting across the pool from each other. No warning. Not apologetic. Not romantic. The guy actually said we should be happy to even be up here. Excuse me?? Bad attitude. No hospitality. I’m a dj so I’m in the industry and have a very good understanding how these things should be ideally handled. Eventually he sorted us together. The food was subpar. Insulting chicken tender to fries ratio that left me feeling bloated. Pool was clean, social distanced.By 5pm they still hadn’t called us for our room even though they said they would by 3pm check in time so we went down and got a room lower than we were told we had. No big deal but also no apology. We were supposed to be getting the top floor. We got a gorgeous rap around Terrance room. Sadly there was a wedding going on downstairs that was blaring EDM music. It sounded like the dj was in our room. Ruined our sunset romantic night in. The Terrance floors were sticky and gross. Left our feet black and the couch had long black hair on it. Not exactly covid conscious. They offered to clean it but I didn’t want to interrupt our one night any more so we threw some towels down and dealt with it. They sent a bottle of wine. We don’t drink alcohol but at least there was a gesture. Bathroom was gorgeous with a view. Le labo was a nice touch. I really love the hotel but I feel like we wasted our money given the epic noise fail and having to argue our way into sitting together at the pool. Set a negative tone to the stay. I’d say 4 stars regularly but unfortunately going with a 3 this [email protected]
Dangerously unsanitary. Did not live up to expectations...evening greeting staff was very kind, morning checkout staff not very much, and rooms are quite subpar. Cleanliness and usage was about what you would expect from a Motel 6, but worse. Do yourself a favor and book a better room across the street at the Wythe or Hoxton hotel, or maybe just sleep in your car. Stains on carpet and sofa, ripped bed frame, all around generally unkempt and certainly did not feel clean.
Its really good. My fiancée said wow, its so good. I cant remember that last time she was that positive about life. We loved the cocktails & had a side of fries, they were good. (Really) its expensive, which I dont like - $18 for a Cocktail. But, its a Daym good one. You should check it out. Nice views too. The 34th Floor would have been better though.
The lobby is amazing. Lots of chairs and a big waiting area. The 22nd floor Westlight rooftop bar has fantastic view of midtown Manhattan, downtown Manhattan, Long Island City and Brooklyn. Lots of seating inside and outside. It’s gets little chilly after dark. Make sure to have a extra layer. They also have telescopes (free 😃) to look at the city. Not many food ($$) options. Drinks ($$) are good though. Nice place to have conversation, enjoy the view and grab drinks. The servers are also nice (especially Andriea) and friendly. A must visit rooftop bar in Williamsburg.
If you’re thinking of having the most beautiful NYC wedding with the entire skyline of NY as your backdrop, RUN DON’T WALK to the William Vale and start screaming for Isabel. Lol don’t do that BUT seriously this venue was my husband and my dream venue from the moment we walked on the premises. I never saw myself getting married in NYC because I wanted an outdoor wedding and most of the gorgeous city venues are indoors. When we walked up onto the rooftop in September we asked Isabel to put a hold on a date the next August without hesitation. The view alone will sell you. We had our wedding during COVID-19 And the William Vale did everything in their power to make it not only safe for our guests but also as beautiful and perfect as we could have imagined. It didn’t feel like a “COVID wedding” - it felt like the wedding we had dreamed of all of our lives. The food is delicious, drinks are amazing, the views speak for themselves and the hotel itself is just gorgeous. Now to Isabel, our planner. She is just exceptional. I don’t really have many words except perfect, professional, caring and THE BEST. Isabel went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I got to have our special day despite the circumstances. One of the best parts of getting married at the William Vale was having her on our team to get through this crazy year. I highly suggest the rooftop and terrace for your ceremony and reception. We wouldn’t change a thing about our wedding if given the option except maybe to not be in the middle of a pandemic :) thank you William Vale and specifically Isabel for providing us with the best day of our life!!
Bed bugs - and a refusal to admit it! This “luxury” hotel is a joke. I received 20 bedbug bites my first night, 25 my second, & then they moved me to another room where I was essentially held prisoner for an extra eight hours for inspection, and instead of refunding my stay, they said “we already gave you an extra eight hours stay”. As though I want to be locked in there! This on top of not being able to use the pool. I offered them a chance to refund me for the extra time, the doctor visit, and the fumigation that I paid for all my belongings after leaving, and they said I’m on my own. Unbelievable.
Was only there for a short time just to drop off something to a guest. The employees that I can into contact with were all very pleasant and helpful. The hotel itself is very upscale and pleasantly and comfortably furnished. The room I was in for only a couple of minutes was verysmall but had a lovely view and was furnished nicely.
Would give zero stars if I could. Room wasn’t ready when i checked in, and they charged my card twice for incidentals, which ended up freezing my credit card. The tv and wifi both didn’t work, and then i was told i had to make a reservation to visit the pool? And when i went for my reservation the pool was closed!!!! Truly NOT A LUXURY HOTEL. Don’t waste your money!!!!!!
The view is absolutely gorgeous!!! We arrived around 11:00pm. Because our two daughters were with us we requested blankets and pillows for the sofa bed. After four phone calls to the front desk, housekeeping finally brought them to the room at 1:06am. We had also purchased a bottle of wine for the room upon our arrival. Once again we had to contact the front desk. The bottle of wine arrived the next day. Housekeeping only left two towels after cleaning the room. Once again we contacted the front desk and was assured they would arrive immediately. We never got them.
The Skyline views are beautiful. Our room was quite small with minimal drawer space and little to no bathroom counter space. The room felt more like a small cruise ship cabin so we had to get very creative about where to store clothes. The staff was was overall friendly and Peter, the hotel ambassador, was extremely accommodating. He was interested to hear our review of our stay and was clearly wanting to use the information to help to improve the hotel experience. The rooftop bar, Westlake was fun, the food and drinks were great and the views were spectacular. Make sure to get a reservation because the place was packed. The hotel is close to the L line so very easy to get to midtown. We will definitely consider staying here again.
Came here for the Vale Rink. I was so excited to book something in the neighborhood but it was not at ALL what I expected. There is not REAL ice on the rink: it’s plastic and that means that skating is almost impossible or at best, difficult to pick up.We stayed for 25 minutes when we booked for twice that. The views are GORGEOUS but you’re better off making reservations at the rooftop bar (Westlight) instead to see the NYC skyline. We definitely made the best out of it, but other groups/couples left early as well as they could not skate properly. Bummer :/
Great experience from this hotel. Use your gold or platinum card and book in Amex!! You get a 100$ credit and free upgrade (if available) we got lucky and got a nice upgrade to a corner room very nice view!! 100$ credit can be used anywhere in the hotel expect mister something place. Used it for west light and room service.
After hearing great things about this hotel in past and seeing Conde Nasts high ranking, I booked a room here to celebrate a one year anniversary. When I booked the stay, the website asks if youre celebrating something special and I noted the celebration. Im not sure why they ask because it seems we received worse service than a non-celebratory stay. Nothing extra was done at all for the celebration. We had problems with the TVs, phone, and electric outlet in the room. First, we wanted to stream music from a phone through the TV. We spent over an hour working on this and also trying to get het from the hotel on this. Their solution was to upgrade the internet, but their instructions on how to upgrade the internet didnt work. We ended up giving up. We were told this was an ongoing problem at the hotel. While trying to relax in the bath, others videos and music kept playing on our TV. The phone didnt work, it kept dying when Id try to order food through room service. I had to use the speakerphone to get through, and the employee was rude and complained that she couldnt hear me (even though I was on top of the phone). I didnt know any other way to dial for room service. The electric outlet next to the bed didnt work, so I woke up to an uncharged phone. We were told at check in there was to be no smoking, but somehow the smell of weed was getting in our room which made me question the HVAC system. We were trying to celebrate by getting away, but also being safe during Covid. Its not comforting when you smell weed from your neighbors in your room. Finally, we woke up and wanted to have an Americano to enjoy our last time in the room before checking out. I called two times to place the order, but nobody answered. I called the front desk to inquire and I was told the kitchen was busy. I told them we just wanted two Americanos, and I was told wed receive a call back within 10 minutes. Over an hour later we checked out of the room without ever hearing back. I mentioned the coffees when we checked out, and I received a forced sorry, but they never offered, even then, to try to get us coffee. I cant recall a time when it was so difficult to get a coffee. I wrote to the hotel after our stay and days later Ive not received a response at all. During Covid Ive stayed at hotels with far better services and facilities for less than a third of the cost of this stay. I left very disappointed and sorry that I stayed there. I think other hotels would have provided us much better service, especially for the price. Im quite shocked that Conde Nast rated this hotel so highly.
Great hotel, rooms were great, facilities great but the view and rooftop bar is were it is all at. I was upgraded to a suit, this was nice but as I was only there 1 night I could not make use of the balcony and it meant I was on a lower floor and my view was obstructed. This was a bit dissapointing. Also at the high price of the room I was surprised that breakfast was not included. I had the morning to look around the area and the it was a great place, I will definitely be back to this area.
The William Vale is $$ for the small rooms but boy is it such a comfortable room. If youre staying here, get one with a view. Its worth the upgrade. The bed is ultra-comfy, and the room was just enough. I wish it was bigger for the price we paid, but the place is quite nice and lives up to its 5-star status. The place is super clean, it was fairly quiet when I was there, and I really liked the hotels grounds, amenities, and area. The gym is a little behind the times, but they had fantastic protein bars and waters, which is a nice touch. The pool area is cramped, but there is an adjacent beer garden which is nice. The park is cute but McCarren Park is such a short stroll away, you may as well go there.Though I enjoyed my stay here, I would look around for other (cheaper) places before I chose to stay here again. But, if I ended up here I would be elated. I question if I would choose this for a client or relative, just because the rooms as so small... But I would recommend it for a fancy friend.
Great beds and pillows...great balconies, nice staff. The food at the Italian restaurant was good, but small plates for $25. Barely fed one person. Pool was great warm temperature. Ask first if rooftop bar is open, as companies book the entire space, was bummed about not being able to go up there.
I am not sure how The William Vale receives high praise or can even be described as a luxury hotel. I stayed in February 2021 in the Gotham corner suite. I have stayed in many hotels throughout NYC and travel frequently, but had never stayed at TWV and looked forward based on all the great reviews. I was disappointed to find the accommodations to be in desperate need of repairs and updates. The area rug and sofa both grossly stained. The Bath amenities by Le Labo did not appear new, but either reused or left over from the previous guest, very concerning in covid times. The auto blinds were not all in working order, and many of the outlets did not work, when I tried to use the room phone to call the front desk to request hot water, this function was not available. I had to leave my room and personally go to the desk to request a tea kettle. Upon check out I shared my experiences with the desk personal, she was apologetic and acknowledged the hotel was behind in some repairs and offered a $75.00 discount. However, after reviewing my credit card statement I noticed not only was the minimal discount not applied, but a charge from the hotel appeared on my statement that I did not recognize. I emailed the hotel and the asst. manager replied to say, the charge is for items missing from the minibar after you departed the specific items are listed below.... it went on to include several bottles of wine, beer and nearly every snack! Adding insult to injury the hotel tried to charge me for missing mini bar items!! (word to the wise check your card statements)Due to the nature of my career, I have stayed in more hotels then I can name, but I have never written a review in my life. Who has time! But during these troubling times, none of us need more headaches, so hopefully I have helped redirect someone to a genuine luxury hotel.
Came here for my boyfriends 24th birthday, booked the Gotham king with balcony. Dont understand how this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel with the service that they offer. Very embarrassing! First of the hotel itself is not as nice for the prices they have. The sheets in my room were stained with blood!! Very disgusting makes you think are they properly cleaning the rooms specially with COVID! Noticed them the next morning and when I called the front desk to let them know their first response was are you sure is not yours how is that your response after someone is calling for a complaint if I thought it was mine I wouldnt have called. That was very unprofessional. They then sent the manager of the house keeping team to make sure it was really there. After they came and saw that I wasnt lying about the stain on the sheets they called me and offered me $100 off what I paid for the room and offered late check out. (The receptionist that called me back was nicer than the first one I spoke to about the issue). Dont understand why this hotel is so overpriced! Very small rooms, and the rug in the room seemed dirty and the view from the room is not that great. The only positive thing was the waiter at the west light rooftop bar other than that really bad experience. Never again.
Would give 5 stars, but it lands squarely at 3.5 because of their lack of retrofitting the hotel to respond to covid. If Whole Foods can manage lines of people during non-covid times, then a hotel should be able to manage elevator access to guests not on the top floor who are trying to reach the ground floor in a somewhat organized manner (my boyfriend and I had to schlep our bags for 12 stories after waiting for 8 elevators, all full of people.) we were in a room by the elevators, so it was a little noisy, but we had a great view from the balcony and also I really appreciate how the entrances to the rooms are off from the main hallway. Only good things to say other than the cleaning needs to be a bit more thorough - when I went to set up my dog’s food bowl when we first arrived I found a very dirty face mask right under our sofa just out of view and had to toss it myself.Great amenities, shower and bathroom fixtures, stocked minibar, mostly responsive staff (other than brushing aside the serious issue of safe yet Efficient checkin/checkout procedures.)I’m sympathetic that we are in a very different reality in terms of the Hospitality industry a year ago vs. today. However you’ve had 8 months at this point. This place positions themselves as a luxury hotel. You can’t have It both ways. Guests don’t walk themselves 12 floors down the fire stairwell in a Luxury hotel.
We did a one night staycation here. We camped out at the pool all day and had multiple bottles of wine. It was a bit hard to get poolside chairs, but once we did we had a great time. The hotel room was cute and had a great view of Manhattan across the river. They were dog friendly without any surcharge, which was amazing for us and our beagle who also got to enjoy the mini getaway.
The staff was friendly and hotel is beautiful. The issues I had were with the elevators - they only have two for guests and just ONE was working during our stay. Based on an employees expression this happens often. The pool is also beautiful, but very crowded. If youre coming during a busy time, good luck getting a seat.
Stayed here for the second time in a year. Staff was very welcoming on arrival, the room was very clean and the views were exceptional. Went to the top lounge for a drink before dinner and they were amazing. Views from the rooftop are some of the best I’ve seen in the city. Would highly recommend staying here
This place can be the nicest spot to go, but if they don’t treat guest right it’s not worth it. I just got back from the William vale hotel, I booked a room and they Didn’t tell me that before I check out I would have 8 am Till 10 am slot in pool area, mean while day passes are able to stay in The pool for the whole day. Which makes no sense! Their customers service is very poor! But overall the pool is so nice and I enjoyed the lil time I had .
This hotel and restaurant poses as a luxury hotel but has the worst service. I can’t believe how bad it is. It would be what you would expect at a motel. Views are great but workers attitude, their phone service and policies on how it operates it opposite to luxury. Half the numbers are out of service and their main number hangs up repeatedly. They have a lot of things to fix to be in the realm of luxury.
For a hotel property that claims to be Williamsburgs only true luxury hotel and was recently awarded a Readers Choice Award by Conde Nast (which is why I booked in the first place), I was sorely disappointed by the LACK of professionalism, courtesy and timely communication I experienced at The William Vale.I booked an overnight stay for myself and my family to celebrate my birthday but was met with frustration upon arrival. As soon as we pulled up, the valet was extremely rude when we parked and unloaded our belongings several feet behind the cones and was told to move right away. Afterwards, at check-in, a woman named Heidi greeted us impatiently with a dismissive attitude that made us automatically feel unwelcome. Shortly after we made our way to our room where we found the suite was not ready and still being cleaned (mind you this was at 3:30pm). Our porter Russel (who was polite) offered to accompany me back downstairs to sort out the situation. Without explanation or apology for why the room was not ready, Heidi reactivated the room cards and moved us to a new room. While this new room was clean it wouldve been reassuring to find covid guidelines posted somewhere to know it was in fact sanitized.Dinner at The Westlight was the only redeemable experience at the hotel. Andrea, our server, was the only person in the entire property that accommodated us and went above and beyond to salvage my birthday. She was kind, considerate and understanding.Lastly, on the morning of checkout as advised I called to request late checkout based on availability. They confirmed for 12pm. So my family and I wanted to take pictures outside of Westlight only to find it was closed which wouldve been ok except we nearly got trapped in the elevator since no one told us that our keys would deactivate by 11am. Luckily we made it to the lobby where I met Heidi again. Without so much as an effort to express concern for almost getting trapped in the elevator, she gave me a poor excuses and disregarded me when I told her I confirmed the 12pm checkout and no one gave me further instructions. When we were leaving, it would have been nice if someone offered to help take my bags out to the car. I struggled to wheel out the trolley by myself as 3 people stood by and did nothing. I also tried reaching out to the front desk director to express my frustrations and have yet to hear back from anyone.Overall, while this hotel is beautiful, its overpriced & over exaggerated. A 5 star rating purely on aesthetic is the only reason why it attracts people. If youre reading this review, read the other recent reviews too and youll see a recurring theme - poor client service and incompetent staff. There are better hotels nearby that are worth it and provide more attentive service and an all inclusive experience to enjoy Williamsburg.
The hotel was nice, but the service is not dependable. We were gifted with a gift card to the William Vale and had been planning our stay for weeks. The front desk told us we could spend this gift card at the rooftop area then when we got up there, they said they could not take the gift card. We splurged a bit because we had the gift card and the front desk did not offer to do anything when I communicated the situation with them. Following our stay, we have had to contact the hotel multiple times because they charged our credit card instead of the gift card for our stay with them. I cant help but think they are trying to be slick, but I want to assume the best. Overall, while the hotel was nice, it has not been a pleasant experience and has been more of a hassle than anything.
The view is really pretty. Overall service from hotel staff was not well at all. Ling (overnight front desk) was rude and not helpful. I called and requested a later check out time and they gave me 30 mins extra. I felt as though they were rushing me out and I did not feel welcome during my stay.
Beautiful hotel and amenities, great location and friendly staff. We asked for a room with a view ans were offered an upgrade at a reasonable price which was absolutely worth it!! what a VIEW!!! over looking the whole of Manhattan. Simply magical! Love the decor of the room and attention to details. We would definitely stay again and love to next time in the summer to enjoy their great outdoor spaces!
This place have double standars and their are selective. I went there for the first time and a manager wearing a light gray suit was very unpleasant and unprofessional. We requested to move to a better table due to new indoor guidelines on indoor dining, but he didnt know how to talk me without having an attitude. The food and the views are excellent, but the customer service is not good. I will be contacting the NYS Department of State to report indoor dining.
Great views from the roof top bar. Nice little pool and good service and food. Loved our black bass dinner in the room.(room service). Only thing not rewarding a 5 star was one morning with a very inattentive man for breakfast (restaurant downstairs from the lobby). I mean you want some coffee quick and some attention! I was pissed. But my family loved their food such as the waffles. I hated the lousy drip coffee. For a hotel and restaurant of this kind dont skip on the coffee and pay attention to your customers! Following days we went to a diner nearby for breakfast...
I was here about two weeks ago on a Sunday. It was a perfect day for lounging by the pool. The weather was amazing. I brought a girl and she loved it. Luis served us & he was very nice to chat to. The service was stellar. I had the cucumber tequila cocktail and she drank the blackberry one and we had some light nibbles. Everything was perfect and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I’ll be back.
Really lovely staff and great views. My boyfriend and I had a staycation here, the hotel was beautiful all around. I had no trouble making a reservation for the pool. Westlight was a little underwhelming. Considering the restrictions in place due to COVID, they have still made it a really great experience with availability to use most of the facilities easily.
This hotel is exceptional. Great location, and the view might be the best in New York! The staff were very kind, the rooms were beautiful, and the beds very comfortable. Oh, also the best shower Ive ever used. Highly highly recommend! Will stay here next time Im in the area.
Amazing experience on every aspect. Service was very kind and attentive, always prepared to help us in many different ways. The room was wonderful and the views to the Manhattan skyline is simply the best around. The pool is also great. The hotel ambassador, Peter, also scheduled a fixed-rate shuttle to the airport so my family wouldnt worry. I most definitely recommend it!
Spent one night here for my birthday and it was amazing. The hotel and room are smartly designed and the front desk service is top notched. They emailed me a couple days before my reservation as an introduction and I told them that I will be celebrating my birthday. When I arrived, Kayla at the front desk was so warm. I arrived two hours earlier than check in, they actually had a my room ready and gave me a complimentary upgrade. The hallways were well lit and beautiful. When I got into the room, they had donuts and a handwritten note waiting. The bed was comfy, the shower great, and the view great. My only comment is any was that the room service took forever. I asked for hotel towels and I had to call twice to get them. On my check out day I asked for toothpaste 10 min before I checked out and just ended up checking out because I didnt get the toothpaste. Nothing that wont prevent me from staying here again.
The views from the rooms and also the rooftop bar are just epic. Thats the draw for this hotel. Rooms are solid if a little sterile. Service is actually quite bad for a top hotel. No frills and we waited a long time for small requests like an extra blanket. But they are friendly. There are a few aspects of the hotel that feel like a bit of a cash grab though. You have to pay to sit by the pool on any type of chair other than the loungers. Thats just mean. And the WiFi is so incredibly slow that you almost have to upgrade to the incredibly expensive paid option. Finally we had 3 random charges including mini bar on our table which we definitely did not use. I would return for the view but seriously guys, why the greedy stuff??
Took a little staycation in bk and obviously had to include my dog! This hotel was so dog friendly and check in with her was super easy (no excessive forms, extra price for wt ect like I’ve experienced at other places!!). We had a wonderful stay with beautiful sunset views and the room was so trendy and comfortable. Will deff be back for our next staycation:)
The only good thing about this hotel is the view of Manhattan from the Gotham Corner Suite. That is literally all......We were a group of 8 girls celebrating a special event. Our rooms were booked in Feb prior to the pandemic on a book early discount with no refunds. So unfortunately, when I tried to cancel my rooms in June they refused and told me hotel pool and outdoor restaurants would be open. So we decided to go and here is what we experienced:1. Had to pay $500 for a cabana for 4 people. We were told we must reserve 2 of the since we were a party of 8. We did not receive any service at this cabanas. The bar was supposed to open at 11am and it was closer to 12n when the bartender was ready to serve. They had very limited drink options. Finally we found a waiter who was working the pool are and we placed our drink order and 1 hour later, we have no drinks. He didnt bother to bring them to us, let them on the side of the bar for us to pick up. Also, I told them not to charge my room as I gave him a credit card and when I closed out tab, he stated he charged on room and I had the charge on credit card as well. Unreal.2. We had dinner reservations at the Westlight. We were all dressed up and had a nice corner table and was told that we had to get up and go to bar and place our food and drink order there like as if we were at Wendys. This was so disappointing as we had to go back and forth to get our drinks and not the fine dining experience they claim. This hotel clearly understaffed and then forces it guests to do the work and for what you pay to stay here , this is an embarrassment.3. Upon check in, they were trying to charge me again for the Gotham suite that I had prepaid back in Feb. They had no record of charging my card, so I had to show them my credit card charges from Feb and email proving this room was paid already.4. Upon checkout, I did not see any fees which I expected considering we did not drink from the minibar nor eat the snacks or place any meals on the room. Three days later, I see a charge of $63. I called them up an they said it was a minibar charge, yet they could not tell me what was consumed. I requested an itemized invoice from housekeeping. They said they would talk to housekeeping supervisor and have it emailed to me... That was almost a month ago, and no response.I then received a $35 fee on 9/3/20 three weeks after our stay and no one has been able to tell me what the fee was for. I have not heard back from the hotel and will be disputing these charges with my credit card company. For the amount of money this hotel charges the service is 1 star. After they have your credit card, they do not respond at all to emails or phone calls made.Oh and take a look at the sofa bed sheet that was on the mattress.... Disgusting urine stained. They clearly do not clean the sheets here, despite all their COVID-19 precautions posted everywhere...Save your money... stay elsewhere... 1 HOTEL in Brooklyn much better
Wow, we really took advantage of this place! Did a sudden staycation over Labor Day...they let us check in early to a gorgeous room, we wandered around Brooklyn, and the next day after checkout they even let us use the pool since it rained the day before. Then had cocktails at their rooftop bar with a fabulous view of sunset over Manhattan. Elegant, refined, but very comfortable and welcoming.
Stayrd in a Queen city-side room. The room and balcony were fantastic. Amazing waterfall shower. Only downside of this place is the TV in the room isnt a Smart TV and I couldnt get the Screen Mirroring function to work with my phone. Id love to visit again in summer to use the outdoor pool and jacuzzi, and drink at the bar! 🍸Wonderful front desk staff. And they have Valet parking! Best hotel in Brooklyn.
Amazing property. Great spot and much to do in the neighborhood. Make sure you go up to the rooftop bar but if you really want to make it special there is a level on TOP of the rooftop bar with even better views, time it for the sunset for amazing pictures of the sun setting behind the city. You can host a private event just like we did, no regrets!
The room are kinda small for the price but it’s quiet, nice and the area is excellent. Parking is $30 but that’s not too bad considering the other options in the area and how close it is to public transport. The tv can be controlled with your phone and the rooms have central heating and air. Beds areComfy and the decor is fantastic!
Hotel was nice and clean, staff was professional. Reason why I am not giving 5 stars is because we booked this hotel specifically because of the pool/terrace and outdoor bar and lounge. We were told upon checking in that for duration of our stay that all spots were all reserved already. Pricey hotel and if had used those 2 amenities it’s worth it other wise it’s not worth the $$$$. All guest should be guaranteed to have the amenities available if it’s being it’s available.
Its a luxury hotel with a youth hostel attitude and service. 1. No room service. Everything has to be asked for through the front desk. 2. The front desk is difficult to reach. If you are trying from outside- almost impossible. 3. Recurring charges on my cc for different amounts incurred by the hotel even after we left. No explanations by the staff, just its been fixed every time I inquired. Had to cancel my cc- 3 unexplained charges. Blatantly indifferent customer service. I got hung up on while expressing my complaints. 4. False advertising- no bathrobes provided. 5. No glasswear in the room. The reason it got 2 stars is the mint location and balcony views. We were the returning customers, wed spend a weekend at this hotel for the valentines. Needless to say we are taking our celebrations elsewhere.
We stayed in king room with river views. Amazing views of nyc skyline. Room was well appointed with quality linens, coffee machine, turn down service. Leuca restaurant was amazing! Really good southern Italian fare. Pool area was nice, was taken back when paying $350+ a night you have to pay extra for day beds..Rooftop restaurant was excellent with the views and cocktails. Reception lobby was a bit of a let down in terms of interior design, friendly staff though. Overall a great experience and would recommend a visit :)
I was staying one night in NY at short notice and my friend recommended this hotel. I’ve been fortunate to stay in some great hotels over the years and one thing is for sure: it doesn’t matter how fancy the hotel is, the people who work there are the ones who make or break the experience. Walking into the lobby of The William Vale feels like you’re stepping over the threshold of your family home. Why? The staff are genuinely welcoming and have a nice energy that isn’t forced or false. This was great after an all-night 13-hour solo drive from Chicago. Monica checked me in and I later learned that a sharply dressed chap called Peter Erasme was responsible for ensuring that nothing was ever too much trouble. If I was a hotelier I would be extremely proud to have my guests be taken care of by such a lovely team of people. The hotel itself was perfect. Great food and drinks. Privacy was on point and the room was impeccably clean. It might have been a short stay, but I felt at home in the heart of Brooklyn. I walked 20,000 steps before I checked out exploring the area and it’s amazing - great bars, shops and a banging chicken spot just around the corner. Genuinely cannot wait to go back. Thank you.
Rented a corner room that had a great view. Was not impressed with the size of the room or the fact when you walk in, you walk in on top of the bed. The bathroom door provides literally no privacy and wouldnt stay closed. I ordered room service for breakfast and was charged almost 30$ (by time you pay for taxes and fees) for two muffins and a croissant. The staff was great but for the price, I wont be back.
Pretty bland and disengaged staff, I didn’t really get a friendly vibe from either the evening staff or morning staff.I stayed in a pretty pricey suite and the air conditioner in the room didn’t even work. They sent someone to “repair” it which solved nothing. There was throw up on the banister of the balcony which is disgusting.I tried to arrange late checkout on the day of my departure, I was put on hold 3 separate times by staff until the line eventually dropped each time. Checkouts at 11am and there was already a housekeeper at my door around 9am knocking on the door before granting herself access to the room without my permission to try and clean the room!!Let’s just say I was not impressed with my stay.
Not really impressed. Stayed there cuz I heard the pool area is amazing. Not easy finding a cool pool in Manhattan area... so Brooklyn was my only option. The room is ok, nice views, but nothing more than that. Friendly staff. They also sell tickets for non guests to access the pool. So it’s really busy! I don’t think I would ever come back.
Stayed here three weeks for work. Got to know it pretty well.PositivesStaff is lovely. Laid back and very helpfulFood was fantasticThe location couldnt be better. All rooms with beautiful views of ManhattanRooms are a good size for NYCOnly negativeTheres a club on the roof. As good a view as anyplace Ive ever been. But, it draws quite the crowd. And while thats great because the people are young and hip it makes the elevator ride a journey at times. Maybe that is only an issue when you practically move in like me, but I found it annoying.
Great all around experience, although the room layout was a bit odd and lots of various light switches with placement that doesnt make sense. Comfortable and clean bed. This is a premium hotel and everything has premium prices. Its backed up with premium service, so theres that.
Went to the rooftop bar for drinks and small bites. Pretty long queue to get in but moved decently quickly. Wait for an outside table was multiple hours so we took an inside table. Nice music and service, pretty tasty if overpriced food and drinks. Largest complaint is that the setting sun was right in our face - so, none of the benefits of being a sunset rooftop with all the drawbacks. Didnt ruin our time by any means, but it was fairly annoying. Still, would highly recommend to most people.
The drinks are obviously Manhattan prices, but are very well done and the bar tenders are great. The space and view is beautiful and I was really impressed by the friendliness of the staff, they accommodated couples with strollers along with party groups seamlessly. The ambiance is great and welcoming, not like some other rooftop bars that tend to feel somewhat snobby. I did not try the food, but the menu looked interesting. Try to reserve a space before hand to avoid a line, but the line went quickly.
We attended a wedding on Saturday evening. The ceremony was on the rooftop and it was fabulous. It doesnt get more New York than that. However, they have only 4 elevators to get hotel guests to their rooms on 22 floors and to the rooftop. Thats not nearly enough. The dinner was at the ballroom. Its just a hotel ballroom... Dark, cold, boring. Everything else, including service, was great.
Fabulous experience....the rooms are immaculate, the decor is modern and new, the views are fantastic. We enjoyed the roof top lounge/bar...again, with spectacular views. Small bites and drinks were enjoyable, not cheap but good. Try the duck tacos..delish. The roof top( Westlight) has a ice skating rink outside in winter. Their restaurant ..Leuca has a nice menu and the food is fresh and everything we had was good. The service across the board was awesome. Cant complain about a thing. Also, located in a nice spot..we went hatchet throwing around the block. There is a park called Transmitter Park around the corner with piers you can walk out on overlooking the city. The hotel offers valet parking for $40/night.
Had the best experience. Hotel is beautiful and the view is fabulous Service was excellent. But I meet peter who was one of the nice man ever. ( front door ) He walked up to the 12 floor with and made it fun. We laugh, took selfie. His service and kindness was out standing.
A wonderful experience at this restaurant. Waiter was very helpful, nice, and courteous. I liked how they bring out a candle-lit dessert for our celebration. Food was very good. You can tell the chef puts alot of thought into taste and decor. The restaurant was located underneath a nice hotel building. Go check out the elevated atrium outside and the rooftop bar for a gorgeous view!
The rooftop pool is a rip off. There is a pool service charge of $4 on top of the exaggerated prices. The menu is sad - their juices are not fresh, Caesar salad was small and contained nothing but kale and three stripes of chicken for $6 (total cost over $20!), they don’t serve coffee so one has to go downstairs to order it (what is the pool charge exactly if not for that type of tasks?!). As a hotel guest i expect better service than this.
I had a near perfect experience in this hotel. The lobby is not very thrilling, but the hotel makes up for it with the room and the rooftop bar, Westlight. The standard queen was well designed, spacious, and the balcony had a great view! Most hospitality details were not missed, though I wish they had a robe to enjoy the balcony in the winter. I really loved the room, one of the best rooms I’ve stayed in nyc!The rooftop bar / restaurant is tapas style food and great cocktail menu. Drinks are $16-18 dollars. Tapas small plates are about $14-20 dollars. A bit expensive, but a good place for a date. Make a reservation because it can fill up!Minus 1 star for the staff knocking on my door 3 separate times to remind me check out was approaching. It was excessive and left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Beautifully designed hotel with amazing views of the city from room and rooftop bar. I couldnt give 5 stars because the customer service experience was what you expected at a 3 star hotel. I expected much more based on the lovely email we received prior to arriving. For $750 for a 275 maybe square foot room we expected turn down service and a couple bottles of water. The bartenders were rude at rooftop terrace. It was crowded but not that bad that they should have bad attitude. I made reservations at Leuca when I booked hotel room but they didnt have it. We were accommodated but it didnt reflect attention to detail. Nice to have dinner or drinks but if you want to be pampered this is not the place.
We would like to thank the staff at William Vale for making our wedding night so special. They went above and beyond, from the time we arrived. The service was incredible and our room was immaculate! We couldnt have asked for a more wonderful evening. Truly grateful for everything you did! We will be back!
Have not stayed at the hotel itself but am reviewing the Turf Club on the rooftop. Hands down the best view of Manhattan and most enjoyable rooftop! They have hosted a bunch of great events here such as Rooftop Films and OV x Shadowboxing. Staff are so friendly and accommodating. Perfect spot for a summer evening with friends!
The service was awful. Every time you spoke to an employee, you were treated like it was a huge inconvenience for them. The pool and rooftop are open to the public, so it’s impossible to get a seat at either. On top of that, it looks like everything in the hotel has seen better days. All the cloth furniture is covered in stains in both the public and private areas. If you’re lucky enough to grab a seat at the pool, it’s likely covered in cigarette burns. Finally, the noise at night is insane. Thumping music from the Williamsburg Hotel rooftop woke us up throughout the night.
Nice hotel with a great view. We liked the location. You can walk to several boutiques, restaurants, and bars in Williamsburg and can quickly get to Brooklyn and Manhattan. It’s a little too pricey for what you get. Especially in the cold season. Mini bar prices are outrageous.Pro tip: If you feel like drinking a coffee it’s cheaper to get room service than to make a Keurig yourself. Or run to the next coffee shop ;)
I was only there for fourth of July so my view is skewed, but they handles everything incredibly poorly. There were four elevators, three of which were used to shuttle people to a party on the top floor while only one was for hotel guests and staff. This made orders take a huge amount of time and I waited in the lobby for over half an hour for an elevator. The room I was staying in was promised a year in advance by someone who was not allowed to promise rooms that far in advance. When we went to check in, we were told the room had been rented to someone else and were offered a room without a view of the fireworks.
Incredibly clean and feels very new. Great bed and loved the bathroom with the pearl floor. When you walk bare foot it massages your feet.Great bar on the last floor with an incredible view of Manhattan. Worth the trip to see that view alone. Also very well located in Williamsburg. Recommend!
Came for a drink at the Westlight rooftop bar. The views are nice, with a 360-degree view. The bar only had three beers on tap, but the brown ale (the only drink I had) was excellent. There was plenty of restaurant seating and what looked like group seating, but not much standing and bar space. Lots of outdoor space for the summer, Ill return then for better weather.

2022-03-31Loved the whole ambiance of the hotel. The accessible balconies with each room were a beautiful perk! There are two nice restaurants and bars next store to the hotel. For #36.00 I was able to park my vehicle. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Will definitely be back for a second trip, hopefully I will be able to utilize the pool at that time.

2022-05-10Just stopped by here a few times for a quick covid test for set. The outside location is very nice and has a hip look. There are also a few restaurants right in the complex. I was at the smaller location which is more for meetings and such. The place is crisp, clean and pristine. Overall whoever designed the waiting areas had a great eye for style. The layout is a little confusing to find the proper suite, but other than that its an amazing space.

2022-06-16I love the physical hotel, I love the views. The customer service is just not what you would expect from a hotel like this. We had our wedding here and there was so much miscommunication on our wedding day it really stressed me out/upset me. We had a really pleasant first check in, but after that it just went down hill. The people working make you feel like a total inconvenience and that just isnt something you should feel when youre staying at a hotel let alone on your wedding day. We genuinely thought we could get our photos taken in Westlight so we tried to go up the elevator and the woman working the elevator literally put up her hand in a stopping motion and harshly said where do you think youre going? and proceeded to tell us that professional cameras were not allowed up there and that they owned the airspace. Our photographer said it was for personal use but she wasnt having it and said I see two professional cameras youre not going up. Which fair enough is fine we didnt argue or anything we just didnt even know that was a thing... but when youre spending thousands of dollars in a hotel, youre about to get married, and about to have a happy moment - plus just having wedding anxiety, the way she spoke with us was so rude and totally rubbed me the wrong way. I thought there were SO many other ways to communicate that to us. Which is just unfortunate. The hotel did accommodate a request to switch to dining inside (because of the cold temperature) which was great but it felt like pulling teeth to get there, we felt like we had to do the problem solving and that we were annoying them. It just all was a really uncomfortable interactions. Which is just super unfortunate.

2022-03-14Positive: Housekeeping and staff from valet to the initial front desk experience and concierge were attentive and welcoming. The view from the balcony was stunning. Negative: The upholstery was stained on the chaise It would have been sweet if we could have had a 12pm checkout

2022-05-31The price of this hotel is so high relative to the services and rooms that you almost feel ripped off. I dont mind paying high rates, but I expect the property to deliver, and they didnt. The lobby and common areas: the lobby is small and uninviting, with no greeting or directions from staff. If there was a lounge or bar area, I had no idea where to find it. The concierge was empty every time I walked past. The rooms: there is no desk/workspace, which is highly inconvenient. If you need to write an email or join a conference call, then expect to be hunched over on the bed… like a teenager. The bed was nice, and the décor was okay - a touch of modern. Room service: its a rip off. Whatever package deal they offer for breakfast dont take it, because its for room service only, and then you will be charged 20-30% in administrative fees. The pool was closed (but it was March). Perhaps the pool is an attraction item, if so then this hotel is only relevant in the summer. I heard the winter spa was good, but getting wet outside in the cold is not my thing. The location: it is a great, if you like Brooklyn. The hotel is located in Williamsburg, which is a fun Brooklyn neighborhood, but it is not Manhattan. Before the pandemic, 90% of my job was travel, so I have stayed at over 50 hotels and spent thousands of nights at hotels. I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel.

2022-05-30The rooms are very nice and clean but the service is horrible. They are beyond short staffed. I must have called 10x to make a reservation and then another 10x to place a order with in room dining. Besides the staff and the long wait time the hotel had a great view on Brooklyn and the Empire State Building.

2022-05-18The rooms are tiny, they are ok for one person but two is really ridiculous. One small closet. That’s it. They only put one large towel and one small one on bathroom. The breakfast was unbelievably awful , two cold poached eggs on cold toast with undrinkable coffee. We went site seeing all day , returned to our room at 5pm and guess what , room had not been made up. Called reception and the woman who I spoke to kept repeating like a machine , I pass on your message. I said do rooms here get made up and she just kept repeating I’ll pass on your message. Honestly this is a third rate rubbishy hotel. Won’t recommend nor come back

2022-03-13Great views. Small rooms with no surface area to eat or work. There is a club across the street that blasts music all afternoon and all night (until 5am on weekends), which can be heard even on the top floors. I needed to drown it out with a white noise app to get any sleep. The gym in the building is the same size as the hotel rooms (very small). The staff is great -- helpful and friendly. The nearest subway is about 12 blocks away, so -- especially in the winter -- youll want to use Lyft/Uber. Nice restaurants on sight, but theyre pricey. All in all, for the price, you can probably do better. But compared to most NYC hotels, this is a step up. NYC has just set the bar very low, sadly...

2022-03-14They don’t accept digital bank cards or credit cards, must have the physical one. I’ve never had this problem anywhere else. I wasn’t able to check in so I had to find another hotel last minute at 11pm with no sympathy or effort to help from the staff. If you leave behind your wallet there’s no hope for you, they told me to go across the street to another hotel even though I’ve already paid for this one Lol. Do not recommend.
