This area of the park is a very serene and beautifully cared for Space out of respect of the late President Theodore Roosevelt. Walking paths And trees Circle this absolutely beautiful wide open space. There is also a wonderful beach and also a fantastic sports complex next to this area. YOU have to park near here and then walk to the Memorial location it is a very beautiful place to fish or sit on one of the many comfortably benches next to the flag area .There is is a small area that has boulders and rocks and other items that are taken from places where Theodore Roosevelt loved that defined his life it is in a wooded area near the back of the park this area is best known for being a wonderful walking area and I highly recommend having a visit here by beautiful Oyster Bay Harbor. They have finally constructed the final design for every aspect in and around this park which has been a long time in the making it is absolutely wonderful on a sunny afternoon or a cloudy one unfortunately the fishing is not what it used to be in the harbor because of the Oyster productivity but you can still catch a fish with no problem. The water quality is very good and always monitored. In season on weekends a TOWN Sticker is required to enter Park AND to park every day. You will find no better
Dropped off some food at the Soup Kitchen in Oyster Bay. People Helping People Oyster is Beautiful and Historic. A Hop Skip and a Jump from Glen Cove..the monument is beautiful and dont forget when you visit to stop in at Billy Joels Motorcycle Garage Museum..you may get Lucky and catch him there.💃🌞🇺🇸
The new playground is very nice. You can walk on the beach and in the gardens. Watch the boats go by, play basketball, volleyball etc... Food and drinks are available at a concession stand offering indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is abundant. Theres a fee to access the parking lot during the summer months. However, the playgrounds are not shaded, fully exposed to the sun. None of the benches are in the shade. Sometimes you find cigarette butts lying around in the playground but its generally clean.
Another no dogs allowed park. We were walking our service dogs on leashes and were told by 2 different rude ladies that they were not allowed. We told them that they were service dogs and still got grumpy, snooty responses. Not a welcoming place, at least not in our experience.
Every year we go to the Oyster Bay festival. We enjoy great food from different local restaurants. They also have like a small flea market. We enjoy good food and great live music.Of course the Oyters are the best part!Parking on this particular day maybe a hassle. We usually pay for parking. That is the best option or you can take a shuttle buss that take you froth train station to the parkThis place is great for pictures#oysterbayfestival #goodfood #brokerGCraig
One of my favorite places to take my girls. In the summer enjoy the beach with lifeguards and all year round the playgrounds and beautiful waterfront setting. Bring a picnic, plenty of shaded tree areas. Also a nice place to take pictures. I did a summer evening shoot with my own girls that was beautiful.
I went here the other day because I was in Oyster Bay and I had a few hours to kill. The park is very pristine and beautiful. Ienjoyed walking around and along side the marina and beach. You could smell the salt, marshy air. The weather was perfect. I will be back to explore more of this park.
Best part of the park is the beach area. Great for pictures, picnicing, and a quick dip when warmer. Plenty of parking. Quaint surrounding town. Its where oyster fest is held every year.Great place for a family picnic and to just go for a nice walk and have the kids get some fresh air.
This is a positively beautiful park with a beach that is a very short walk off paved walkway. And by short I mean from pavement to water is about 30 feet but it is very shelly with small rocks as apposed to sandy. So flip flops are highly advised when walking on it. Theres a playground and public bathrooms as well as food concession that werent open at the time of Mt visit but now with Covid restrictions easing that may have changed. PS Theres public parking as well... I really love this place!
There were not much in this park, but we had a great time spending a Saturday afternoon here. There was a playground that had slides, swings and some climbing exercise for big kids, but the playground was a little bit challenging for toddlers. There was a paved path for riding a bike and playing scooter. A big lawn was amazing, we played balls and tried to fly a kite in the lawn. The seagulls were a plus! Kids had fun feeding and watching seagulls by the water. There were basketball and tennis courts in this park. The park was clean and not too crowded. The parking lot is huge, but this park is also located next to a LIRR station. Very convenient location. Will come back when the weather is warmer.
To have a private playground in a public park with a railroad museum is disgusting to say the least knowing thats a place you bring children.I wouldnt waste my time or money going back there. It would be better spent in your own communities. 1 star is a stretch for the experience.
I really liked this park! I came back twice in one day. Later in the day on my second visit a lot of events were happening around the park (youth events?)I think its very great to have these events, but I also think its impractical to have rude people running them, and taking up the entire walking path.On the way out of the beach back to the car, a lady running a bike event that was taking up the whole width of the walkways which was really unnecessary. Kept to the side as much as possible but this woman kept shouting and telling to people to walk on the grass and get out of the way.She followed me for like a whole minute just berating me.I get running these nice community events, but make sure the people running them have at least two functioning braincells and dont ruin the park for so many other people?Setting such a terrible example for the kids out there.
I am a New York resident who works in Oyster Bay. I was told by two women this morning that I was not allowed in the park because I wasnt a resident of Oyster Bay even after I told them that I work in town. If this was a COVID-19 precaution, I would never have guessed as neither of them was wearing a mask or said anything other than residents only. It is absolutely atrocious that a city where I spend 40 - 50 hours a week banned me from its leisure space. It would be atrocious even if I had never set foot in the town before. It is such a shame that Oyster Bay feels the need to hoard such a beautiful space instead of sharing it with their community.
Its pretty sad that me and my daughter was our first time there and as we were walking past the concession stand there were a group of young teenagers there and as we were walking back they threw a stick at me and a rock at my daughter and just missed her by a hair. I will never ever ever go to that beach again and without a doubt let all of my friends and I have a lot and lot and lots of friends what a horrible place I was. SAD SAD SAD.
Its a very nice place...but I am not allowed in to fish even though I am a Nassau county resident. I always fish here. I also noticed a couple of people fishing. You would think the place was packed. Im telling you, it was not.I live in Lynbrook, if there was water to fish I would!Come on..I always wear a mask.
Not only a nice waterside park with a variety of offerings, but a treasure that really ties oyster bay together. If you live anywhere on the north shore of the town of Oyster Bay, youve already been here. If you havent, youll need to check it out. Offers fishing pier, boat launches, basketball, racquetball, baseball and picnic area. Nice for walking leisurely and regarding historic memorials to oyster bay resident, Teddy Roosevelt.
When my baby and I need some beautiful things to look at we head down to the beach. We are blessed that we can walk here and enjoy all the beauty. Everyone is so nice in this park. I love all the boats and you can see all the celebs houses from this park. Thank you for being so kind to us and letting us have such a GREAT life together.
Beautiful place to bring young children. The Oyster Bay beach is very calm, no big waves. Kids and adults can enjoy themselves without too much worrying. Lifeguards are on duty from early in the morning until like about 5 or 6pm. So far this is my place to go with my 2 year old.
I visited the park when it was blanketed in snow — so my experience is seen through the lens of a wintery afternoon in mid-December. To get there, I took the LIRR Oyster Bay line to its terminus (from Jamaica). The train ride is about an hour or so. Its an easy walk to the park from the station. I was impressed that one entrance to the park allows you to cross the train tracks. Be careful. Look both ways. There could be a train coming. The bathrooms in the park were closed for the winter. I ate lunch in one of the covered plazas that dot the park. Make sure you check out the bay. I hummed the Cole Porter lyric, “Even oysters in Oyster Bay do it. Let’s do it. Let’s fall in love.” From the beach, you can see the palatial houses built on Centre Island, and if you squint, you can see Cove Neck — which is the location of Sagamore Hill, famous as Theodore Roosevelt’s “Gilded Age” vacation residence (and where he died). When Roosevelt was police commissioner of New York, and when he was president, he took the Oyster Bay train. Check out the original station. It’s an excellent example of old-timey railroad architecture (and it’s located just east of the new station).
I really enjoy this park! The views are wonderful whether you just want to stroll by the water and look over to Center Island or walk by the docks and see the different boats. In the summer you can bring your beach towel and lay in the sand and go for a swim. You could cut through the park and you end up right in the middle of the town of Oyster Bay with its great restaurants and shopping. On occasion, Ive taken the LIRR right into Oyster Bay and then strolled around the park and the town and then gone back home the same way… no parking worries and its a nice leisurely day. Once a year they have the Oyster Festival in October which is a real fun place to be. Definitely take the train to the festival as it leaves you right in the middle of it.
To visit this park by boat is very difficult. We anchored out in the bay and tried to bring a dinghy in. The public boat lunch was only 30 minutes and the dinghy dock by the constable was 20 minutes. It is not possible to get groceries, have a nice meal, and visit the park with those two options. considering all the wonderful investments and infrastructure at this park, the town should seriously considering installing a proper and labeled dinghy dock to allow visitors to stay for the day and visit the park and town.
LOVE this park. There are BBQ pavilions available for parties, a fenced in childrens playground, baseball, tennis and handball courts. There is a small building with rest rooms and shower and some outdoor seating right in front of the beach. There are many picnic tables with bbqs and a gazebo to eat under.
I drove all way from Brooklyn to the park with my family and when reached .The staff stop at the entrance and told to back up as the access is only to the residentsThis made me so mad that noting such rules or institutions was put on the park operation because before drive I check all the notes on the google map and no such instructions was mention which the staff at the gate said. The staff was not having any professionalisms and don’t know how to deal with people. I tried to reach to the management on the phone number which is posted on google map but failed to reach any one. Many attempt was made but all the call went to the answering machine. The family was quite disturbed on this account that how come public and state park are allowed only to few.Very sad very sad.
Great place to eat Turkey legs or other meat while you enjoy a beautiful overlook of Oyster Bay.I eat dinner here twice or 3 times a week. I look at all the water, while I eat Turkey legs or other meat.I saw that they have alot of seaweed here. I smelt it and placed it back on the beach. The water at this park is salt water. do no drink it.
Spent many many hours fishing in that Park on Shore and in the bay wonderful beautiful scenery unfortunately the last few years it seems the place is deteriorating unfortunately theres an element there that doesnt respect the garbage cans and so on its just a matter of upbringing and and morals I lived right across the street for quite a few years and was in there almost every day during the summer catching a few hours of fishing here and there still love the place but like I said I have noticed unfortunately even though the park workers work as hard as they do they cant keep up with the people that dont care about littering and so on so forth it bothers me I used to have to pick up other peoples trash before I would fish because I couldnt stand to look at it people despoiling such a beautiful place anyway its still as beautiful if you can get beyond that sore point hope this has helped someone definitely go there its worth it theres playgrounds it is truly a beautiful Bay and Park
The sand is more pebbles, but very clean. Restrooms were passable, womens worse than mens room (so Im told ;-) )One note: the beach is free, but you can only park in the lot close by if you are an Oyster Bay resident. Otherwise you have to hunt for parking in the residential area nearby. There is a park & ride lot close by.

2022-06-14A small, beautiful park next to the American museum history. Mostly locals go there to walk their dogs or meet friends before going to the museum or Central park. I always stop by when i am in the area, grab coffee, people watch a bit & appreciate the tulips especially at spring time.

2021-09-12Awesome late afternoon visit. Good size to walk around and take some pictures. Not too crowded but its the end of the summer, I could see it will pack people in during the warmer days.

2022-05-23We went for the art in the park event. It was a little underwhelming, but this was the first time they had it, hopefully next year it will be a bit bigger. Lots 9f free things for kids to do and some good bands on the stage. The park itself is really nice having both grass and beach area, although the sand contains pebbles.

2021-05-14A large park near the Oyster Bay downtown harbor and marina. There are sandy beaches, a number of sports fields, and spots for picnics. There are some excellent views of the Long Island Sound, and during summer months the harbor is filled with boats of all kinds. The views are especially beautiful during sunset.

2022-05-04Family friendly park with a beautiful turf field, tennis court, basketball court, handball court, and 2 play grounds! During the summer there is a food stand aswell as 2 vending machines for drinks. My only complaint would be that the handball court needs to have the lines redone, and the basketball court backboard is deformed other than that its great.

2022-05-30I’ve been coming here since I was 5 years old. My family lives in oyster bay hence is why I’ve been to this park since I was a little girl. I’m 25 now and today (Memorial Day) i came in hopes to sit under the tree and do some art. But this lady that worked there today lied to my face saying it’s residents only and it’s been like this for “years” I was just here last month. Sad I’ve lost my favorite childhood park
