This place has my highest recommendation. Not only is the staff filled with the most vibrant, considerate, and friendly personnel; the ambiance and amicability of the space makes it ALWAYS worth coming back to. I bring all of my friends here from near and out of town. We love it here, and recommend you all come for an awesome burger, beer, and great time. It never disappoints! Shout out to the beer selection and tornado tots - they are beyond delicious!
I have lived in this neighborhood for 20+ years. I am a small business person, and prefer small businesses.I have an Autistic son and he is well known in the neighborhood. He was banned recently by Third Avenue Ale House and he was in compliance with ALL NYC and NY State regulations when we tried to eat.I reached out to Management privately and they have not responded. Thus, I had to turn to Facebook. It is a difficult journey for our Autistic population, and I am disappointed that I had to leave this public review of a neighbor.
Our favorite neighborhood place, Upper East Side edition. Great brews, really good pub food and staff weve come to love like good friends! Prices, of course, are Manhattan chic, but, all in all, not too egregious. We recommend this place very highly! They have discounts for folks in the industry, and everyone is very accommodating. Good food, good folks, good location, good times!
Service was mediocre. We waited awhile to be checked on after receiving our meal, and the other waitress simply didnt acknowledge us once. The New York cheese cake looked like it had just been tossed on top of a glob of whipped cream with a dead cherry. Two stars for the nachos, best thing there.
Stopped at this restaurant after taking a nice walk in Central Park and was not disappointed. The East Side Burger is DELICIOUS. My Server, Olga, made the experience all the more enjoyable. She was so bubbly and fun that it was hard to leave! I’ll definitely be returning again spoon!
Great atmosphere with an amazing/friendly staff. If youre looking for an area with a good variety of beers this is the perfect place for you. I love how they adapted the restaurant post-COVID. The TV placement in this bar is absolutely amazing (great wide screen TVs that are perfect for enjoying a game). I tried the mozzarella sticks and they were the best Ive ever tried in my life (mainly because the sauce was so tasty!).
Nice ale house! Its rather telling that the drink menu is significantly longer than the food menu.Eggs Benedict was tasty but over cooked. But the beer selection is diverse and equally delicious.Nice quiet environment and extremely friendly attentive staff. Would recommend
I had an amazing experience here tonight!!! The people from the hostess to the waitresses were incredibly friendly and kind! They allowed me to sit outside with my dog for which they happily provided me with a dog bowl for water and a bone. The food was DELICIOUS!! Nachos were amazing! Definitely a wonderful experience and will be back soon!
Their burgers taste like meatloaf. Turns out they put breadcrumbs in them. Personally, I dont care, but my wife has gluten sensitivities, so this was an unpleasant surprise. The waitress was a darling, terribly sorry, had no idea. I must commend her on the customer service. And, our dog ended up grateful, too. So, not a complete loss. But, ya gotta be careful out there. I forgot to mention the beef chili as a soup of the day course. It was terrific.
On this visit, sat at the bar on a cold holiday Monday for lunch. No one was full-time behind the bar, unlike every other visit over the years, so service was slower than typical - Im just one person against a cavernous space with dozens of other guests for two waitstaff to cover, after all. Yet the staff was friendly as ever to me and to the regulars dotting the barstools, and while waiting there are several televisions tuned to sports to occupy ones time. After a slow start, managed to enjoy a couple of beers I havent seen offered anywhere else in town, in $9 16oz pints (not the 14oz glass many craft beer bars offer). The beer list spans the normal wide variety of craft and crafty, and as ever the stronger and rarer drafts command a higher price and/or smaller pours. The menu is stuffed with standard American bar fare, and the burgers here are exceptional, but I decided on the bratwurst lunch special - two big sausages on buns, with a healthy pile of french fries, for $16. Quite tasty, and Schaller & Weber-quality meats. A pleasant enough way to enjoy a day off and relax. (NOTE: credit cards are charged an extra 4% for processing; its prominently noted on the menu.)
Lovely and refreshing to sit outside, watch people go by, and dine al fresco. Although it was busy, our drinks and dinner came out quickly. They have an extensive beer menu, even had a beer from my home state of Utah! Food was good and not terribly overpriced (for Manhattan). Nice pub, one which I shall visit again.
I’ve come here a lot over the years. I like their burgers and robust beer selection. For brunch “His Wife” is a delicious take on a croque madame. My qualms are: service takes forever, consistently. It seems like the waitstaff doesn’t have a system for who works which table. Additionally, this new “we charge 4% for you to use a credit card and we give you a 4% discount if you use cash” is confusing, unclear and a bit predatory. (See the photo I’ve uploaded). Lastly while I like the beers, they are way too expensive. $9 for a 16oz Stella?
The restaurant was excellent. I had a cup of teriffic soup followed by a bison burger, that I thoroughly enjoyed, along with sweet potato fries. The service couldnt have been better and I was able to top it all off with a Guinness. Nothing more need be said about that! I highly recommend this restaurant.
We stumbled on this place after attending a wonderful program at the 92nd St Y. There were several screens of sports games going on around the bar, but there is also a back room if youre looking for a quieter atmosphere. I enjoyed a decent pour of a dry Riesling, and the rest of our party had a cider and one of the beers on tap. We all were impressed with both the size and quality of the nachos. We will return after another program at the Y, Im sure.
I have been here many times because it is a local hang out after work with colleagues. This place is ok. Seems all upscale but its really just an average bar with a nice beer selection and bar food.Food:Never had a problem with the food. Always tasty and filling. If you are a Nachos fans this is a must here. Their everything Nachos are great!!Very nice portions to their dishes.Beers and drinks:They have a great beer selection. But they arent that cold. Even beers like Amstel Light are warm. If you like cold beer this isnt the place for you.
The service was good, but food was just meh. Very overpriced in my opinion. $17 for nachos, which I had read on TripAdvisor were the best nachos ever, were just OK. I didnt like that the burgers came on English Muffins either. Did not compliment the burger very well.Atmosphere was decent - not overly crowded, and was pretty clean. The beer selection was also good, and it looked like they had a good happy hour. Probably wont go back to eat because the food wasnt the best, and it was not really worth the money. I wouldnt mind going again for happy hour though.
This review is not for the food but, for the short Asian or Korean server/bartender who works there. Multiple times she has been rude and just down right disrespectful and after going there to have lunch with coworkers this week Ive decided to leave this warning review. So I attempted to order my all flats hot wings like I always do every time I go there or any other restaurant and she tells me that its not possible. I then say thats how I order them every time I come and she says Im sure thats not true and walked off……Wait!! So did you just call me a liar in front of my colleagues? Needless to say lunch for me went out the window right then.So I get up and talk to the manager whom Ive talked to once before about her attitude. She at 1st didnt understand my point because this had nothing to do with rules on wings but, really about how a customer is treated so I felt like she only heard me but, she did not handle it as manager shouldve and as I told her I normally dont go there if I see she the one working when Im solo but, when your coworkers want to go then I feel like I should be able to as well. I now know thats possible so Ill let them all know if she there not to even go.So basically if you want to be treated with respect, like a paying customer, or just like a human then I advise you to stay away too if you see her working as well! Now run in and enjoy yourself if you see Melissa, Chloe, or the busboy who greets me with a smile anytime he sees me inside or outside the restaurant. They are the people who make that place and I adore them all.
We were regulars of this place that served good food and had good service. But no longer. They now charge a credit card usage fee. In May 2019 I brought 6 clients here for beers and food and spent hundreds of dollars. I was charged a $8 credit card usage fee. When I inquired about it I was curtly told that “It’s the law”. I countered it’s “the cost of doing business”. But was dismissed. When I said “I won’t be back” they didn’t care. So for a few dollars I was sent packing. Rude. Don’t bother. Go someplace that appreciates your business.
This ale house offers neat selection of draft beers from all over the country. They have two areas. Once you get in there is sports bar like vibe going on, while in the back there is more quite area with tables. Theres also a patio for nice days or evenings. Since its an ale house, you really want to try the beers here. If youre into IPAs, try Juniper IPA. Food is absolutely good as well and is accompanying those beers very very well. Absolutely no remarks there. Menu is bar food oriented. There is also a great selection of other drinks as well with top shelf quality liquor. Staff is friendly and attentive which is always a plus.
Resembles one of scores of places like it in New York neighborhoods. This is a good one. Tasty sandwiches. Drinks. Thats it. Thank goodness for long leases, which is the only explanation for why these types of places havent all been driven out of business by high rent.
Good beer selection great ambiance... Not yo pricey decent music. Good televisions .. great staff will let you sample beers to make sure you actually pick something you want . I recommend for watching a game or chatting with a friend over drinks . Did not try the food menu though .
Had brunch here just yesterday. The wait staff are all very friendly, and the backwaiting staff are attentive and prompt. Just expect the food to take a while. I didnt quite understand until I noticed how tiny the kitchen was relative to the size of the restaurant. We had the curry deviled eggs appetizer, which was the highlight: very flavorful and a solid portion. Two of us got the carmelized apple pancakes. The pancakes themselves were okay (my buddys had one burnt in the stack), but there werent nearly enough apples nor sufficient caramel sauce/syrup. I also ordered their homemade chicken sausage and home fries. Both were good--a little on the pricey side--, but the portions matched the price.
Tip top bartenders hustlin to get you a solid selection of craft brews on tap. Delectable food from a kitchen that has a staff that knows a thinger-two about good food! Highly recommend before picking your dog up at the many dog friendly play date areas, to grab a pint and catch up with friends.
The third Avenue Ale house was definitely on the happy side. Wonderful staff, like who dosent mind some pretty bartender gossiping with you or smiling at you while serving you a real good draft beer. Yeah that is like any guys dream bar. Good collection of beer and good food.
Food was nice but when paying the bill, we gave him 3 different Visa credit cards and it would not work in the obt machine. We had 85 $ that we paid out of 94b$ We had to get out find a cash machine and get back to pay 9$ all for rest of the trip and he kept my credit card still. Awful.
The Triple Pork Burger is something special. The English muffin bun was the best executed English muffin bun Ive every had. Usually its a hard, sloppy, stale mess thats too small for the burger, chewy and gross. This was perfection. The burger needed it. It desired it. It made love to it.... Okay, now Im getting carried away.Since I really dont like beer (*gasp*) I always appreciate anything non-beer on the drink menu. And I lurve me some cider. I usually like a crisp Woodpecker & will make do with a Magners. This was my first time having Angry Orchard. Its very sweet with a strong apple juice flavor, meaning not much of a kick, but its a perfect foil to the Triple Pork. ::cue Brady Bunch:: Porkchops and Applesauce. Back to the burger....Copy/Paste:Triple Pork Burger8 oz of grilled ground pork & chorizo, topped with bacon, served with adobo bbq sauceYes. Yes. Yes and yes. Comes with lettuce, red onions, tomato on the side. Go ahead and put something green on it to keep your cardiologist happy. You get the Adobo sauce on the top and the bottom for prime coverage. So much pork. So good.I paid the extra for the Garlic Sauteed Green Beans but to be honest, it didnt add anything to the meal. They werent very garlicky or seasoned. But since the burger is such a good sized portion, do you really need to destroy yourself with sides? The service was prompt, friendly and properly attentive. I was seated in the front with the bar and the television screens so I was exposed to a couple of Bros shouting at the Yankees and the Knicks, respectively. But if youre looking to talk to your date, this is a good date spot, theres plenty of seating in the rear. Just ask.I was extremely pleased with my tribute to pork. I just hope that one day I suffer a head injury and wake up loving beer. Its such a waste to go thru life without beer. So much beer.
It seems to be a very elitist east side place. They took my beer away because I was looking at my phone and said I was drunk at 11:30 pm. I wasnt talking to anyone. The bartender said The bosses are watching me. My job is on the line. I would like to hear his side of the story.

2022-03-13We came for appetizers and some Allagash White. The tornado tots were soooo good. The nachos were also excellent. Service was great, we had a great night!

2021-08-29♿ Been frequenting the alehouse for years now! And have always really loved the big window/outdoor vibe. They are accessible to wheelchairs, and their QR menu is readable to screen readers. While I used to really love their mushroom wraps, I am obsessed with their shishito peppers appetizer and really loved their chicken kebabs .

2021-08-21A friend told me they had the best nachos he’s ever had so stopped by and tried the bbq pulled pork nachos. they were hella fire, perfect pork x nacho ratio with the cheese melted perfectly. Didn’t get to try anything else on the menu but will certainly be back again. Good service 👌🏿

2022-06-16Great spot after long night at work to eat. 1st spots kitchen was closed so we ended up here. Super cozy outside. Great drinks, the food was delicious. Glad it worked out. The only mini issue was they cant allow outside dining after midnight. But no star lost for it.

2022-07-17Inexperienced kitchen and management make for a sub par experience, but would be a great episode for Bar Rescue. As much as I wanted to like this place, it came up way short on just about every level. My wife ordered Ruben Egg Rolls which were basically pockets of hot oil, probably from oil not being up to temp before dropping them into the frier. Then half way through my chicken club sandwich, which was pounded super thin, dry and served on a stale hamburger bun, I realized the lettuce was wilted all over and bacon was way undercooked. Starving I chose to pick off the undesirables and finish the sandwich. Since we were seated in the center of the bar area we no waitress and had to order from the bar, so I brought my leftover ugly fixings to the bar just as a heads up of what was coming out of the kitchen. I thought the wait staff would appreciate the transparency, otherwise they’d wonder why no body was coming back for more. I was told by the manager who happened to be right there I should have told her and she would have had the kitchen fire another. Well, a little to late for that. She failed to make it right. Hope they fix things or I see this place going downhill real fast.

2022-07-31I had the unfortunate experience of meeting one of the owners here. Not at all helpful and some of the worst customer service I’ve ever received. If you’re gonna hire bartenders who don’t know how to make simple drinks, maybe train them.

2017-04-01Great food and drinks, awesome and intriguing bartenders, and its ALWAYS consistent. The same goodness every single time. The craft beers switch out pretty regularly, which adds a unique exclusivity to it, and the ambiance is really dope.

2019-11-22We visited today as on holiday in the city, but fancied something a bit quieter and not as commercial. We came in for one and ended up having a few ales each and a meal. The drink selection is fantastic, the food tasty and the staff really nice and extremely good at their job! We felt really welcome and wished we could have stayed all evening!
