Threshold recording studios was an amazing experience. James was extremly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The equipment was state of the art and acoustics sounded amazing. Perfect environment for putting together This Is Me cover with a bunch of talented kids. My daughter was truly inspirered by her surroundings.
My son just recorded his first song at Threshold. Special experience, special place. They clearly know what they are doing (20 years of experience) and made us novices feel like professionals. Top notch gear and control room. The owner, James, spent time coaching us and bringing out the best in us and made us feel like he really cared. All of the staff and engineers were great. The track we recorded sounds ready for Spotify! Thank you James! We will be back.
Words cannot describe how great my experience with Threshold Studios was. I cant thank them enough for being there for us and absolutely hooking us up. I was working on the original score for a film. Budget constraints were going to leave us with a lot less studio time than we needed, but James and the guys from Threshold Studios were unbelievably gracious and essentially donated the remainder of the time that we needed to finish the soundtrack. For someone to believe in this music and this film enough to help us out in that way is one of the greatest feelings Ive ever known as a musician and an artist. Because of their generosity our vision was realized. Not to mention the mixes sound AMAZING. If you guys need a studio, Threshold Studios NYC is THE place to go.
I am just amazed at James and his studio crew. Their hard work and dedication to getting my daughter’s audition videos perfect we’re second to none. This was our third studio we tried. The first two were horrible but James and his staff were incredibly patient with recording, mixing and promptly getting us the video files. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Worth every penny and more. Thanks James
Excellent experience!!! Could not have even imagined a better experience for my daughter. From the moment we arrived at the studio she was treated specially! James, Karen, Andrew, Lindsey, and Christian made my daughters session an amazing experience and our dad/daughter trip a memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The recording was an amazing quality and the video was a surprise and a blessing. Thank you for making a dads dream for his daughter come true.
Threshold was my first legit experience in recording, and I should say we picked just the right place for that. I was nervous in the beginning, but guys helped me to overcome that. Our engineer Mike is a genius. He has amazingly sharp ear and uncanny ability to mix stuff and put everything in its right place. Producer James is very professional, but at the same time welcoming and attentive. My thanks to both of you guys!!!Highly recommend that spot to all. :)
Being a young and upcoming artist in the music business, I honestly need all the help I can get and guidance from the right people.Threshold Recording Studios is genuinely an amazing place to record. From start to finish, their service has been outstanding in everything they have done. Engineer Mike Weurth was incredibly patient with me and was more than helpful in answering any questions I had about engineering. Producer Jeremy Slarsky is an absolute musical genius, coming up with crazy awesome ideas for the song with vocals or any other instrument. I would recommend Threshold Studios in a heartbeat. :)
Fantastic studio. Went in to record 3 songs and had the best experience. The studio is gorgeous and the sound engineer, Derrick was accommodating and highly skilled. The session couldnt have gone smoother, and the results couldnt be better. You wont be disappointed.
James,I just wanted to follow up and thank you and your staff for doing such a great job on Patrick’s college audition tapes. Had an amazing recording experience. The staff including Derek and the executive producer James were very helpful and at the end of the session I had an amazing song fully mastered. Anyone who wants real professionalism then Threshold Recording Studios is the place.
My daughter just did a recording workshop session here and absolutely loved it!! She had a great experience and had so much fun. Karen and Jim were amazing with the kids. I would definitely recommend any of their workshops. Thanks for everything and an amazing opportunity!! She learned a lot from them and the whole recording process.
Ive worked James (owner) and Andrew (engineer) on several projects this past month, and its been the best studio experience Ive had. Weve done projects ranging from voice over demos, to quick vocal demos to fully produced productions, and every experience has been great -- whether the job is big or small. Great place to work!
Absolutely LOVED the vibe of this place! Recently attended an event at the Threshold Recording Studios NYC and was floored by sound and feel of the space...and even more impressed with how awesome the staff was. Every single one of them was super knowledgable and down to earth. This studio has so much history. I cant wait to go back. The experience was 10 out of 10.
Such a nice space! And the guys were super quick and helpful. They got a guitar tone in moments and a great vocal tone even quicker. We were able to lay down three solid acoustic tunes in a little under two hours because of how professional and on top of their game they were. Would highly recommend for all genres and band configurations. Thanks Threshold!
Threshold Studio was exactly what we were looking for in a recording studio; state of the art equipment, a beautiful grand piano, and the fantastic talent and musical genius of producer Jeremy Sklarsky. As a NYC based indie band, the staff of Threshold was really able to work with us to fit the needs of our project. Friendly and creative environment and we had a blast recording out album here!
I honestly don’t know what to say!!! It was a wonderful day for Emily and I had a great time hanging out while you all did your stuff. You and Andy were amazing; kind, gentle, nurturing, coaching and guiding Emily through an amazing, once in a lifetime experience. I love this studio! My favorite in Manhattan. The space is beautiful, equipment is top notch, and the engineers are true experts. They always get the best out me, and I always walk out with the best quality! Theyve helped me become the best artist I can be!
Great spot! Welcoming atmosphere, good selection of gear, and -most importantly- great engineers! Andrew went above and beyond in setting us up for productive and enjoyable sessions. Highly recommended, especially if you’re looking to record to reel.
The Threshold All Stars workshop was a one-of-a-kind learning experience for my daughter. She had fun, made friends, and learned something new--all while doing her favorite thing in the world--singing. Thank you for making our trip to NYC something that she will never forget!
James is an incredibe person who is super knowledgeable and also takes time to share his wisdom with the youth. He hosted Sunset Park High School today and shared a great story of entrepreneurship and hard work. The studio is very beautiful and very high quality also.
Threshold is as good as it gets. You can tell that because of all the amazing people that have recorded there. They are professional. They deliver a quality product. They work with you to create what you want. Even though they really know what they are doing, they do not condescend. They explain everything and treat you like a professional. It was a pleasure to work with them. We created a classical music CD there with a soprano and piano. Terrific!
5 stars all around ! My daughter was part of a two day intensive recording workshop at Threshold. She learned so much and had the time of her life. They were great with the kids and they also were very warm and welcoming to the parents as well and made everyone feel at home. I look forward to some more opportunities like this one in the future.

Reasons i wanted to work with threshold: 1) cyndi lauper picture on website 2) lots of good reviews 3) open 24 hours 4) james answered the phone when i called 5) he started talking very practically with me when i told him about my project, which i thought would seem strange, (audio for a children’s picture book).and it turned out james and his engineer andrew were the easiest people to work with and we all enjoyed working on the project.
We did a self-taping session there and could not be more thrilled. From the kindness of the staff, to the cozy studio to the incredible results. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
The vocals are way too low on every song. I have to pay $150 an edit, plus the owner will insult you if you try to question production.
If youre an up and coming musician..threshold is the place to go..TRUST ME..mike is the man when it comes to mix and mastering and james is the big homie lol, best studio in times square.

2022-08-24I used Threshold for voiceover recording in August. The facilities were fantastic and Derek could not have been more helpful and welcoming.The speed in which they provided us with our files and the quality of the audio was terrific. Im looking forward to getting back to Threshold for more recording in the future.

2021-08-05The tools to get the job done right the first time.When time is money, you dont have time for games. Today music industry is so competitive you need every advantage you can get. TRS, has the gear, the properly treated space and the know how to get you way better results then you ever could have produced at home. Do yourself a favor, let them be technical so you can focus all your energy on being creative. TRS has you covered!!!

2019-12-09My son Charlie (aged 12) and I spend the day working with Andrew recording a new song, and it was a lot of fun and a great experience! It was Charlies first experience working at a professional recording studio, and Andrew was very helpful and patient showing us around and giving us a good feel for the process. He is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about music and it was an inspiration for Charlie. We highly recommend Threshold Recording Studios NYC!! 2021-06-14Absolutely the best studio experience I have ever had, if it is up to me I will not be going anywhere else for my future projects! Coming from someone who is definitely still learning, James and Derek, the engineer, made me feel so comfortable, almost at home. I will be returning and hopefully collaborating on many more artistic endeavors. I walked away from my first session truly grateful for the experience, and excited for more. Thank you!

2021-04-29Above and beyond!I dont recall myself writing a review for anything but the amazing experience that I had at Threshold Studios definitely calls for one.The studio itself is top of the line and its by far the best Ive ever been in. James is indeed accessible and being able reach out to him and actually have a conversation, just meant the world to me. Derek is a phenomenal producer and also a great person, to the point where I dont see myself going anywhere else to get my music done.It was just a great experience and cant wait to go back and record some more!

2020-12-14For starters, I do not normally write reviews. I must say though, my experience at Threshold Recording studio was amazing! The studio and adjacent room were clean and neat. The engineers James, Derek, and Brian were professional and easy to work with. The equipment used was top of the line. The final mix sounded amazing! This by far was the best experience I’ve had at any studio. I highly recommend this studio, if you are looking for a quality product for all of your musical ventures!

2017-11-14It takes a lot of courage to show your dreams to someone else. To be able to share your music and sound to a team of strangers can be overwhelming. James and the staff at a Threshold Recording Studios led my child to uncover her signature sound. Their patience, honesty and unique approach enabled her to come out of her comfort zone and reveal what mattered most in her music. There is something really magical about this studio and youll realize it when your project comes together so effortlessly. What a wonderful experience. Its astounding to see the talent in your child come alive when they feel secure and confident. Working with James and his staff has been priceless.

James Walsh was excellent to work with. I realize that they work mostly with adults but, Wow! He is fantastic with children as well! You will NOT be disappointed!

2018-12-16I own a company called the NY Topliner Camp, and we recently partnered with Threshold Recording Studios NYC for one of our programs. James was incredibly accommodating, and his staff members were inviting, courteous and professional. The space... just amazing. Equipment was top of the line. All of our participants received such an elevated experience. Will absolutely be working with them again in the near future!!
