When crossing from the Queens to Bronx side, the guardrail on the right is a bit tall for anyone of moderate height to get much of the view. Straight ahead youll see yachts bobbing lazily on iridescent waters. But on your left is the real money shot: a stark navy silhouette of the city that never sleeps. Speaking of money...the toll is $8!! Be sure to stay to the far right if youre paying cash. All in all a lovely bridge for a relaxed Sunday.
Definitely a bridge. As a structure that allows you to drive over large stretches of water, it is a great success. It has not once collapsed while Ive been driving across it, nor has the water ever covered the bridge (that Ive noticed). One star off for not having a decent espresso.
This is a toll bridge to connect between Bronx and Manhattan. There is no toll booth. So if you want to use this bridge you have to have an EzyPass device attached in your car. Previously there were toll booths, so you can pay to toll either using your EzyPass device or cash. But now you dont have choice rather than to pay the toll electronically. If you dont have EzyPass device in your car, still youll be able to cross the bridge and they will send you the bill to your address via mail. But the best part is after removal of toll booths, it Daves lot of time.
A review of the Throgs Neck Bridge?? Perhaps they should ask a structural engineer. What anyone in the area already knows: one of few choices for getting off Long Island, plenty of traffic, not too much fun, and uh, oh yeah, for some reason I prefer it to the Triborough...
Every weekday afternoons between 1pm and 3pm, there is always construction work that blocks the outermost lane in each direction, causing heavy traffic. This annoys me so much because I cant find information on what they are doing on the bridge. Its a pain in the neck.
4/25/2014I live in Long Island NY and work in Bronx, crossing this bridge every day. You diverted the cash toll both on right side only for Queens bond traffic. This is creating a lot of traffic back up in the afternoon peak hour, which may cause accident. All the traffics coming from left lanes have to go to right lane. What is the reason for this change. It is a traffic study project or some thing else? Thanks,Abrar Alam
New York has the worst bridges and roadways in the country. Due to Andrew Cuomo being GOVERNOR of NYS , the infrastructure has been neglected !!! The roads have potholes so deep you can swim in them , the patches on roads have patches on the patches ! The So Called I -495 is a disgrace to be even considered an interstate. The So Called Engineers , that sit in the Ivory tower in Albany decided to grind down the concrete on I-495 to make it smooth for a month or so , while at the same time, dedegregate the structural integrity of the road. The end result is a crumbling , patchwork of a poorly designed road to begin with in which you will destroy your vehicle trying to navigate the potholes and bumps driving on it. Instead of grinding down an obsolete thickness of concrete , it should have been prepped and RESURFACED with several layers of bitumenious asphalt at the proper thickness to support the weight of heavy truck traffic. As long as Cuomo is in office, New Yorks infrastructure will continue to crumble and be the worst network of roads and bridges in the country. For your vehicles and safety sake , VOTE HIM OUT OF OFFICE or continue to pay the highest taxes and drive the worst roads . He is squandering your HIGHWAY TAX DOLLARS on a solar energy campaign. I HATE NY Cuomo! , NOT, I ❤NY ! AND as far as the new TAPPANZEE BRIDGE goes being named after his father ? That in itself, is another story. Wake up New Yorkers !!! , Its your hard earned Tax dollars being squandered !!! VOTE CUOMO OUT, FOREVER. Hes just another CROOKED politician like the rest of them , whom we uncovered.............

2022-04-21This is my favorite bridge in the state of New York. George Washington can get out of my face with that double-decker nonsense.

2018-07-18It may be silly to say but I love going over this bridge with its views of the water and surrounding communities. On a sunny day, with the water reflecting the light and the slight ripples...well, its beautiful. Theyve now completed the cashless tolls so things can go smoothly but with construction lately it is frequently full of traffic. Sooo... Easier and safer to look out over the water 😉
