I’m always searching for a vegan restaurant that my family will also enjoy…and 2 of us have gluten allergies which is always challenging. This place was a great mix of familiar food done in a way that makes our mind, body and conscious happy. Great environment, design, mix of music, tasty seltzer cocktails and delicious food. You will not be disappointed ✌️
Thyme & Tonic is a gluten-free restaurant and mostly vegan. The service here is wonderful, quick and friendly. I am celiac, and it was nice to have so many choices on a menu. I got the chicken tacos (tofu), and they were delicious!!! The sweet potatoes with spicy aioli were also good. The Good 4 You margarita was great! They didn’t skip on the tequila! If in NYC, you should go!
I have been coming to Thyme & Tonic since the restaurant opened and I have always loved the food and atmosphere. I recently hosted a private event here and they knocked it out of the park!First of all, the food (appetizers, entrees, dessert) was phenomenal. I worked with the owner and manager to create the ideal menu for my event - it was great that the restaurant was so flexible! All of our guests praised the food over and over. Everyone left very full and happy!Second, the drinks were superb. Trust the bartender - he is so creative and ANY drink he makes is absolutely delicious. Our guests favorite drink was an apple/vodka cocktail, which was truly the perfect autumn beverage.Last, I have to give a major shoutout to the whole staff for their incredible service. They went above and beyond to ensure this event was a success and they made us so happy. Planning the event was actually EASY due to their care and attention, and the service at the event was perfect! The staff helped us set up before the event (centerpieces, name cards, etc), then they helped us clean up after. They ensured everyone had food timely and also ensured everyone had enough food (seriously, they were extremely generous with the portions). If any guest had a question, I honestly never heard about it because the staff and T&T was on top of it!!! They impressed our 75 guests to such a high degree that MANY guests told me they are heading back to T&T for their next date night and birthday dinner. And personally... Im a fan for life!Including a few photos with this review. All photos were taken by Maria Sakr, NYC photographer.
I love the drinks here. It is a treat and definitely aesthetically pleasing if that is what you are looking for. The ambience is also pretty great. I have tried their food twice now and havent been impressed. For me, all the things I got were dry and mediocre. I definitely dont think I will be back for the food but I would definitely stop by for a drink or two.
The waiters constantly came to pick up our plates even though were still eating and talking. I think I said about six different times that were still eating. It is not like they were out of seat- the place was mostly empty! so its not like they needed the table ...They just kept interrupting our conversation, super annoying. Plus, give us the check when we didnt ask for it before we ordered desserts and drinks. Rude.Update: I see that the the charge on my card is more than I signed on. great.
They recommended the avo/pom tartine, and I was very happy with it. The serrano chilis on top maybe werent the best choice since one bagel half was spicy and the other mild, but they should become more precisely mild as it turns into winter. Love that pop of freshness from the pomegranate seeds, and its great that theyve taken over Modern Bread and Bagels restaurant side and continue to make it gluten free. The Empire Sunrise was also gorgeous and not too sweet. Finally, the carrot cupcake was a must-try! The authentic vanilla bean in the buttercream was absolutely to die for, and the cake was moist and flavorful. As far as atmosphere, it was so gorgeous and calming aside from the loud music, which made it hard to hear anybody.
Like many other reviewers, I felt the food was very hit or miss. The cocktails were delicious, but the place was totally disorganized and the staff seemed overworked. The fries were actually pretty good, bht the fried chickn sandwich was a huge disappoinment. Just because the food is vegan doesnt mean you cant add seasoning... Ive had chickn before, and it can be delicious. This chickn looked and tasted like a block of tofu with some vegan breading on some sides of the patty. The Impossible burger is much better elsewhere. The quinoa salad was fine.
Lukewarm food, overworked staff, and when we did get the food it was incredibly bland. Drinks were fantastic but we had to wait a very long time for the food just to be disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful with a great location but the business should invest in getting better food to customers tables. Waiter was great and tried to make it right but lets face it there is an abundance of options in the area.
Tried to eat there twice. We sat for 20 minutes, smiling and trying to flag the waitress down. She made a gesture and never returned. It’s not comical or amusing. Just bad business. I’m an UWS local wanting to support your place. Hire another server. My glass had lipstick on it. But since we were never approached I couldn’t let anyone know.
Came here on Valentines Day 2020 just for quick drinks as we had an appointment in the area. Didnt realize they had changed their name and menu from Spring Natural Kitchen. This was actually their first day with the new change. We enjoyed the drinks so much, we came back after our appointment to try the food. They have very innovative cocktails with a heavy focus on gin & tonics. We ended up ordering a bunch of small appetizers to have a tapas style dinner.I am a vegetarian so loved that it was vegetarian focused. They have a couple of fish based dishes too if you arent into vegan food.Overall I really loved the food and cocktails here, you should definitely try it if you are vegan or pescatarian.*Side note-can I just say any reviews on here before the switch of the restaurant should be removed as it doesnt reflect the current business today.
The food was slow and awful. left us feeling sick and gross afterwards.also the restaurant charged us a fee for not showing up to the reservation even though we were there and I specially called out having a reservation under my name at arrival. the hostess could not reverse the charge when i pointed this out, and said it would have to be done at the end of the shift by the manager. it has still not been reversed.the music is way too loud in here and the vibes are off. don’t waste your time or money.
We ordered a couple of coconut milk lattes (really generous and tasteful), an avo and pomegranate toast with millet+teff bread (thank god that this place has a gluten free bread made with good ingredients!) and an omelette. We finished the brunch with coconut pancakes (really good if you are used to eat gluten free, but don’t expect the typical ones!). Service was really good too.
I was really excited for try this place but the only good thing about it is the aesthetic and the passion fruit margarita. The food was burnt and tasteless. I didn’t even finish it. To make matters worse, the service was poor and the person managing customers at the entrance was not very polite. Had high hopes and left disappointed.
Food was quite mediocre and pretty tasteless, fries were limp, service was very spotty (for example, we arrived for our reservation at 12pm and werent seated till 12:20). I ordered a coffee but didnt get it until the end of the meal.Had a nice time with my friends but overall unimpressed with the menu and food choices.
I believe this place has the same owners as Modern and Arba. If I’m correct in that, this restaurant is great but doesn’t exactly match up with what we came to expect from Modern or Arba. We went on NYE and it was surprisingly chill. Decent food, fun ambiance. A bit rough around the edges service-wise and a bit subpar food wise, but I’m being really nit picky. In general it was a good place and we had a great time. There was a bizarre interaction with our server— I was waiting for our waters and it had been quite a while. I saw several fresh pitchers of water sitting in the prep area so I snagged one from us to save her a trip (and to get us some water) and when she came back she mentioned getting in trouble (?) with the manager for us getting the pitcher ourselves. I certainly wasn’t angry at her, we just wanted some water! Aside from that, we had a great time. I agree with what some others have said about the food being bland, but it definitely caters to a different audience/market than Arba/Modern. Far more causal, cocktail-y and a hyped up vibe.
Been following this restaurant for months on Instagram, very excited to try it. Finally was in the upper west tonight and ordered paid thai and curry for take out. Was beyond disappointed to say the least. The take out portions are tiny for a 18 bucks meal and the entire dish was just raw chilli peppers burnt tasting rice noodles and saturated with oil. Curry was a little better but still completely hungry and nauseated after wasting 40 bucks. 🤢
I used to like this restaurant. I ordered the beet tofu sandwich and it was TERRIBLE over priced for two pieces of white bread all mushy. I couldn’t even finished it. I felt like i was eating hospital food. I made a complaint with the manager and of course that person did not care. They even charged me for the french fries that i could count with my fingers. Terrible food, over priced, i’m disappointed. Never again! I payed close to $25 for a disgusting sandwich!!Terrible service too and felt pressured to order fast.Newer post (Friday)The next day i was throwing up constantly from the half sandwich i ate, i definitely got food poisoning and this is my second day feeling ill and throwing up the fake beet made of tofu that still in my system. Drinking Pedialyte for puking all that food.I’ve should have known better the first bite i took of that sandwich. I regret eating half of that terrible sandwich but i walked over 2 miles just to go to that restaurant and i was very hungry.I’ve learned my lesson and i would never go back. I hope one day they can provide better fresh food. The chef/sous chef SUCKS!.
I went during brunch. Not a lot of options on the menu (no soup option - on a cold day). I ordered the Salmon sandwich, first of all, it was a very grease patty and I couldnt taste the salmon. In addition, the service was very slow on an almost empty place. I didnt like it.
If you want to spend three hours at a place with no service and mediocre and flavorless food then this is your spot!I had long to visit Thyme & Tonic based on recommendations. My friend and I arrived at 12pm for Saturday Brunch, and we were immediately seated by the hostess. At this time, it wasn’t busy. We were seated for 10 minutes when the next couple sat down, and 5 minutes after that a party of 1 sat. In these 15 minutes no one acknowledged our table. At 12:20, a blonde waitress went to take an order for the parties that sat after us.At this point my friend and I are annoyed and wondering who even works there. That’s when a gentleman, who I learned is the manager, passed by us as we were trying to get his attention. At 12:25 he came to take our order. We placed our food and drink order. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks (refer to the images). The only reason our drinks were brought out is because the food runner went to get them for us, since he noticed we were waiting on something. At 12:43pm a side of fries we ordered was brought out. The rest of our food arrived at 12:55pm. When our food arrived, a young male waiter (we hadn’t seen) asked if we needed anything else, we said. After that, no one came back to check on us. We ate for an hour, so roughly finished our meal at 1:50-2:00pm. The male waiter came to refill our coffee and took my second drink order. When it was time to ask for the check, It took 30 minutes to receive it. Why? Well we were waiting for someone to come around and notice us again. The blonde waitress ignored us, the hostess mentioned it to the waiter, nothing. I decided to use the restroom during this time, when I stepped in I asked the blonde waitress where the bathroom was, she looked bothered by my question. On my way back I see the waitress and the guy who took our order chatting away. I go to my table and still no check.Again, the food runner noticed we needed something and immediately got the male waiter to bring us our check, at 2:55pm. Our immediate instinct was to check the name of the waiter on the tab. To our surprise we see “Zuzanna”, and I fully understood what was happening. The waiter came back and I asked him, “Were you not our waiter?” He didn’t respond. I followed up with, “When we leave a tip, does that go to you and the food runner?” I told him we didn’t feel comfortable leaving a tip that would go directly to whoever Zuzanna was when this person didn’t stop by our table once, and ignored us plenty of times. There were five employees working the floor that day. So, who was Zuzanna? The blonde waitress that ignored us. Who was the man that took our order and was never seen again? The manager. I know the trick that manager pulled, and I hope they do pool tips, because Zuzanna doesn’t know teamwork. As for the manager, he knew who he assigned the table to and not once called her out or sent her to stop by.Do I recommend this place? NO! SKIP IT! Only good thing were the fries and coconut pancakes but NOT WORTH supporting bad management who can’t set a good example and allow their employees to take advantage of others. PLEASE NOTE: Out of the 5 employees there, only three assisted when they could. The hostess, male waiter and food runner are the only reason we got any type of “service” that day, when it wasn’t solely their responsibility to continuously acknowledge us.
It was good, the place is really clean. Everyone is so nice. There was no bartender and my undertrained waiter had all the tables and had to make drinks. Not his fault but service definitely suffered. I ended up having my appetizer for my main course. The food was good (needed spicy sauce) but dessert was a total sugar overlaod would not do the dessert again.Overall - it got a lazy 4/5... I will try it again
Truth be told, I’m not super into vegan/natural foods. My girlfriend wanted to go here so I entertained the place. Our waitress was awesome (sorry don’t remember her name) and was able to provide good recommendations. We started with spring rolls and these things were so bomb! Tasty and crispy. The sauce it was served with was also amazing. Would come back for this dish alone. Would say it’s a must-order. My gf got papardella and it was honestly not good. I got a burger that was also pretty bad. It was, however, served with fries and a vegan ranch that was surprisingly extremely tasty!! Would recommend for people into the natural/organic food scene. It’s priced accordingly $$$ The interior of the restaurant is also super cool. But for people that are looking for a “cheat meal” type experience, this definitely isn’t it.
First time customer here.. last night. ordered Pad Thai to go: although I could tell the noodles, level of spiciness (just right), ingredients were ok-- the whole dish was so heavily smothered in cooking oil, I could not appreciate or enjoy or assess anything else.. sad. I will not be going back a second time-- otherwise, seems like a friendly place.
Damn this was some amazing sh.... My wife told me about this place. I try to be very disciplined during the week. No bread, brown rice, quinoa. No dairy, etc. Great menu, tons of options, great atmosphere. A bit pricey but thats the upper westside. Great if youre being good but didnt have time to prepare a meal. The burgers and dessert also look great, maybe Saturday...
My girlfriend comes (should use past tense I guess) here a few times a month, so Ive been at least ten times or so. Sometime between our prior visit and tonight, they made some menu and pricing changes for the worse. Many of the great entrees and all the desserts are gone, and half the menu is now burgers. Which, by the way, no longer come with fries! No, you must now pony up an additional $6.50 to add fries to your $18 burger. Noticing other touches like the heavily duct taped leather couch and its pretty clear the current owner is trying to be profitable in the wrong ways. If you make your restaurant bad youll lose loyal customers!
This place is the definition of trash. Like the trash on the side of the streets of NYC. Bags of trash. They served food from the restaurant next store, Modern Bakery. The chop chop salad used old spinach that looked recalled. The grilled cheese was just toast, no cheese. The website for Thyme and Tonic did not specify that they were serving food from the bakery next door. The soup of the day was only broth, no veggies or lentils. Have you seen the Staten Island dump? Yea, Modern Bakery is just like the Staten Island dump. Thyme and Tonics service was not professional and didn’t not accommodate for their poor service or orders that were incorrect. Don’t go to either place. It’s not worth your time. Gluten free over priced bags of trash.
A rare big layout restaurant in NYC with a deep menu full of creative fare. The menu is good for vegetarians and vegans and the kitchen will work with guests for any special food needs. Pictured is the soup of the day, the Phoenix bowl, and the molten chocolate cake with avocado gelato.
False Advertising.I came for a grilled chicken sandwich.I got a chicken salad sandwich, with 2 slices of apples and a dry bun that tastes like its been sitting in the freezer for too long. Atleast give me enough chicken to fill the whole bun. Also the latte was straight milk, STRAIGHT MILK. $15 for a sandwich and $5 for milk is a tad much. Do better please.
We came on a Saturday night in December. We actually found a table even though the place was very crowded. At a table, you get service which was great. Our waitress was personable without being too friendly. The karaoke is a fun time. I like that they have a list that lets you know when your turn is coming up. Drinks however were weak and expensive. Stick to beer.
THEIR NACOS ARE INSANE!!!! As a vegan this is the perfect place, as I was able to bring my partner who could eat anything he wanted, whilst I enjoyed all the vegan foods!! The actual place is really nice too, trendy and fun vibe! Please try the nacos they were so good!! Highly recommend ❤️
I keep trying this place hoping it will be better. Even since its transformation from Spring Kitchen, its maintained its hit or miss vibe. The food is pretty good sometimes, sometimes a bit off, but generally just overpriced in my opinion. The service is fine, just not particularly helpful or friendly. I appreciate that theyve transitioned to mainly vegan food, but like a lot of the vegan spots in the area, its just not quite what you want it to be.
Worst experience ever!!4 of my party of 8 had to return their meals. Inedible. 2 had the salmon burger. I had 4 bites of my curry. Also, I asked to substitute gin for tequila in a cocktail and the bartender refused. The appetizers were quite unappetizing. All copied of real food. Pretend chicken, pretend burgers, all less tasty than plastic. The mahi mahi tacos werent disgusting. That was the only order out of 8 that didnt fail. The waiters were powerless to handle any special requests, the bartender was inflexible and controlling and the chef.... Maybe should consider another vocation. Not only will I not go back, I might cross the street so as not to get too close again. My single worst restaurant experience . Thank goodness there was a pizza place close by... I was hungry when I left.
Creative dishes but honestly really disappointing on flavor. The Aussie Bowl was bland with an overdone egg and underdone rice. I can forgive that, but after 70 minutes at the table, my party was very rudely and abruptly asked to leave even though the restaurant has a 90 minute policy, which we were planning to honor. It was raining and we just wanted to sit and chat until our time was up. I would have given them another try if not for that very unpleasant interaction but I’ll be passing this one by.
Honestly severely overpriced even for NYC. We got trapped by the adorable outside seating and setting and did not realize it was mostly a vegan place with some actual fish and eggs (which doesnt make sense). This is also gluten free.I got a $17 of what I thought would be avocado toast with smoked salmon. Turned out to be on a bagel which is fine and I was just happy it was actual salmon and not their vegan lox. Why anyone would pay the exact same price for fake fish is beyond me...Now I know NYC is pricey, I expect it but save your money and go to the super popular deli next door, Modern Bread and Bagel, and get a much better bagel but for $13 instead. And the hubby could get another delicious egg bacon bagel for less or equal price of his mainly egg omelet. Their hot coffee was really quite unpleasant aka not good even with lots of milk. We both had to buy a latte somewhere else after. The service was quite slow overall but I understand that its tough to find staff in NYC so that didnt bother us.Obviously we are not their target audience. So if youre either a pescaterian or a vegan ok with fish and eggs being OK to eat and you like to really overpay for ok food, then youll enjoy this place. Otherwise skip and go next door and eat delicious food at the park.
A new favorite for sure. We had a very enjoyable visit with good service and delicious cocktails. Food was good too, although the fish tacos were disappointing. Otherwise the other dishes were tasty and a good size. The outdoor set up was comfortable with heaters at all tables. We left feeling full and happy.
This was by far and away the worst service I have experienced in New York City, in ANY dining establishment. The server didn’t come by the table after seating our party for 20 minutes. She took a drink order and did not come back for another 15 minutes. After one hour of sitting, we still had no food. We had to flag down multiple people to finally get it. It came out in pieces and practically cold after an hour and 10 minutes of waiting. There were multiple ingredients that were either missing or not as advertised on the menu. One dish was cold and inedible. The server seemed to avoid the table and never came to check in, not even to bring the bill. This place is comically terrible. Avoid at all costs.
Very cute setting. Loved the decor and the outdoor dining was fun. Truly wanted to love everything about this place but unfortunately the service was not great and the food was underwhelming. Staff were pleasant but it seemed like there may have been a language barrier, which wouldn’t have been an issue except there were some major miscommunications. Staff didn’t seem to understand many of our questions and ordering / asking questions was awkward. Most notably - my 7 months pregnant friend ordered a mocktail, specifically asking which cocktails on the menu could be prepared without alcohol. The waiter understood the question, pointed to an option that could be made without alcohol and she ordered this drink as a mocktail. But it seems something was lost in communication after that. When the drink arrived, my friend asked ‘no alcohol?’. Thankfully she double checked because there was in fact alcohol in it. The staff were apologetic and did immediately switch it out for a mocktail but it was frustrating that such an important detail was so carelessly missed. The food was mediocre, which was disappointing considering how great it looked on social media. Drinks were good when they were prepared correctly. Overall, not terrible but I wouldn’t rush back, unfortunately.
I had to give this restaurant a try despite the bad reviews. I am health conscious so I thought a gluten free restaurant would be awesome to try. I ordered a salmon burger and that was no where near gluten free. The only side option they had was french fries, and the bun was a basic roll, nothing special. (They didnt even toast the bun)The salmon burger tasted like It came from Costco freezer section and I asked for hot sauce, the waitress gave me ketchup. It was 8pm on a Thursday, for a glass of wine and salmon burger, it cost me $30. Ive had way better meals for that money, ESPECIALLY in the area.Sadly, this place is not gluten free since I put aside the salmon burger bun and basic french fries. Its a scam place that has basic American food... pretty decent outdoor dining though and lovely decorations inside.Food is basic and totally not worth the money.
Great place for a post, but not the best dining experience. All the dishes and cocktails looked good. But our glasses had some blue stuff on it and our utensils had some chunks of food.We ordered 2 dishes; the latke with salmon was pretty good, but the avo bagel with pom actually smelled like poop. We thought it couldve been some kind of spice, but the smell was just too much I couldnt finish it.Like the other reviews, service was slow and very busy during brunch hours.Superficially it looks great, but the experience and the taste was definitely not worth the price.
We were seated immediately and the service was polite, if not super-attentive. Prices are high and the food is bland. Good selection for someone who is vegan/gluten free/keeping kosher.Normally would be maybe a 3-star experience, but there was a ~3 inch bone in my lox, buried under capers and sour cream. No way could I have known it was there before feeling it crunch in my mouth. Absolutely disgusting and a huge health risk.Server didn’t charge me for the dish, but I was so revolted that even now eating again at Thyme & Tonic is unthinkable to me.
Don’t be fooled by the delightful interior design. The food was sub-par and poorly plated. I had the Reuben sandwich whose toast was burned at the corners. Also, its flavor profile was incredibly bland and left much to be desired. My wife ordered the breakfast bowl which was almost entirely rice.
Rude customer service. My party and I were eager to try this for their entirely gluten-free menu with vegan options. However when we asked what ingredients were in their dishes/sauces given various food allergies in addition to gluten, we kept being told in a condescending manner “we are entirely gluten free”.Also FYI (not impacting this rating): will need to provide credit card for a reservation.
This was a nice spot for brunch. Plenty of tables at 1pm on Saturday without a reservation. The food was tasty. I enjoyed my shakshuka. The music was very loud playing “Tik Tok style” songs and this made it difficult for us to hear each other across the table. We asked the server to reduce the volume of the music, but it remained difficult to have a proper conversation.
As someone who has a restrictive diet, its really high praise to any restaurant that can make just about anyone feel welcome. Thyme & Tonic delivers consistently. With their pretty Instagram ready outdoor dining and artfully presented signature cocktails, theres usually very little argument in suggesting this restaurant to a diverse group of friends. In addition to their largely plant-based menu (I believe they also serve fish), this restaurant is also certified kosher, to include their cocktails. To me, one of the best aspects of this restaurant are the slight changes in their menu from one visit to the next; I really enjoy the variety of offerings. From mushroom tacos, to Asian style noodles, to curried chick peas, Ive not had a bad meal here. My friends, on the other hand, have had more of a mixed bag. For example, a Chickn sandwich that was ordered turned out to be a rather tasteless, underseasoned piece of fried tofu. Thats really the only thing preventing me from giving Thyme & Tonic five stars, to be honest. But definitely give it a try. Bring a date or go with a group. Youll have a nice time.
Food is bland. I keep coming back here to try to give this place another chance and they keep disappointing me. This time I decided to write a review because the waiter forgot my drink then when I got my bill of course he was trying to charge me for the drink I never received but when I brought it to my waiters attention that I never got my drink he just looked at me. When I payed for my bill he asked me if I was going to tip. I felt forced to tip and NO HE didnt deserve a tip. So RUDE. IT IS UP TO THE CUSTOMER TO TIP! He never apologized for forgetting my drink. PLUS the food was disappointing. I still tipped...Never wasting my money here again. And honestly I want to give this place no stars. Everytime I come here the food is nasty. It has no flavor. So sad.
I could not be more sad and disappointed after how I was treated at this restaurant. I arrived at 2:15pm and waited to be seated by a staff member, he showed me to my table. I patiently waited 12 minutes as I watched multiple other guests get served and seated. Not one server ever approached me during the 12min while i was waiting seated at my table. I finally flagged down a server and her response was that I needed to wait to be seated (I was clearly already seated at a table!). At that point I left to get Vegan ice cream down the street. I dont find it to be coincidental that I was the only black women of all the guests this afternoon. All of your guests deserve equal treatment regardless of their race. This deeply saddens me as I have eaten here before and enjoyed the food. Just do better! You have lost a great guest.
Came with my family on a Sunday at 11am for brunch. We were seated quickly and were waited on and attended to well! I’m not sure what other reviews are referring to about the service as we had no issues. All the food we ordered was delicious (favorites are the giant latke and shakshuka)!! If you are gluten free, vegan, or just like good food, this is your spot!
Really subpar experience at brunch. First their omelet guy was out... so no omelets. Service was slow. Half our food came cold. Waiter didn’t communicate things that should have been communicated (like the vegan bacon is a cold topping for sandwiches and not a side). The coconut pancakes tasted like they just put a glob of Trader Joe’s coconut oil on top and called it a day.And idk if it was just our waiter but it was just a bizarre experience in terms of substitutions or requests. They couldn’t leave the onions off someone’s cheesesteak (apparently it is premixed), they have a drink on the menu with grapefruit juice as an ingredient, but couldn’t just give me a glass of grapefruit juice. The not cold food was decent and everyone liked their cocktails.
I got a burger and spring rolls. The spring rolls were UNCOOKED! They were in the wrapper but hadnt been touched beyond that. They were doughy and sticky. Absolutely gross. The burger meat was tasty, but the bun was extremely soggy. For the price, I cant recommend this place at all.
Was super excited about this place, but the food was so bland and unimpressive. The dishes could really use seasoning and flavor. I got the chikn tacos, which had completely untreated and seasonless, uncooked tofu, no sauce or anything tying the ingredients together. The tofu was disgustingly bland and way too soft. The menu description needs to be updated to say tofu tacos (chikn usually means soy protein). Theres so much potential in a vegan dish like this and they clearly just dont know how to capitalize on that potential. We also got the Brussels sprouts, which were unseasoned! It is baffling to me.It is super disappointing to have tasteless food at NYC prices..food I could have cooked 100 times better myself. Intriguing menu and enticing outdoor atmosphere, but doesnt deliver on the one thing youd expect: the food.
Very disappointed with the way we were treated at this restaurant. We were initially seated and then were told that someone else was on a waitlist and that we needed to vacate the table. When we asked for a table originally no one mentioned a waitlist to us and the table was prepared for us. This abrupt and rude treatment seemed to be totally normal to the manager when we talked to him. I hope they change their treatment of customers as the menu looked interesting.
Really wanted to like this place. The food is not great. The meals did. It taste fresh not “farm to table” as was noted. The cocktails were delicious but honestly nothing special. I tried a variety of items and the vegan meat substitutes. Food didn’t taste much different than a subpar pizza place that offers the impossible burger. Will not go here again.
Went for brunch with my family and was pleasantly surprised. We had two salads and they were delicious, with very fresh ingredients. The pastas looked good too. Nice vibe with a good mix of families and younger folks. The mimosa was excellent and they had a bottomless option for $21 that was a really good deal (same for the bloody mary and another cocktail but my husband said the bloody mary was a bit watered down). Service was a bit on the slow side (we had to wait a bit for our dishes) but we will be back for sure.
Disappointed. Service was slow and directed mostly at my male meal mate. Bartender refused to do a virgin margarita. Kitchen was out of half of the starters. For a gluten free spot, the burger bun was dry and tasteless. The smoked jalapeño pepita guacamole had no smoked jalapeños and when we asked for some it was fresh jalapeño. Guacamole needed salt, sincerely lacking flavor. I had to mine for the red onion pieces. Siracha is the only hot sauce they have. Overpriced Caesar salad was small and the dressing watery. The kombucha glasses were cool. Could have gone to Bar Verde instead.
Friend and I arrived at 12.30.pm seated almost immediately and ordered.Noticed people around me arriving later than we did, all had their food. After 45 minutes the waiter said the food was coming. After an hour,I called the hostess who did nothing to help! Waiter then came and said they were out of my order ,would I like some thing else. Ordered french toast. After another 20 minutes past, still no food. Called the hostess who said she would talk to the manager. The waiter brought cupcakes which we did not try or like!! The manager NEVER came to talk to us. ! When 30 minutes passed and still no food, we left. NEVER TO RETURN
I rarely ever leave a restaurant review unless its awful. But Spring deserves my time in leaving a rating. Family of 5... Kids, adults, meat eaters and vegan. We were all thrilled with our meals. So delicious. Great service. I feel like its always so difficult to find a place that suits all needs. This place really nailed it! Great portion sizes too.
My fiancé who has celiac and is vegan was super excited to come to this place. She had purchased the Grainless Moist Cake and Muffin Mix and it was yummy. She did some research into the company and was ecstatic to find that they also had a storefront bakery, and 2 restaurants. As soon as we got the chance, we drove all the way to NYC with the expectation that we would be able to bring back some fresh gluten-free bakery items and also dine in at Thyme & Tonic (T&T). When we arrived, the bakery was closed. So we went next door to T&T.1. We waited by the “please wait to be seated sign” but we were ignored. We told one of the waiters that we were looking to dine in (at their designated outdoor space) so she brought it to the attention of the host who then approached us. We told her we would like to dine in for 2. Her immediate response was “you know this is gluten-free and vegan right” and we replied yes. She said “the wait is 20-35 minutes,” we replied that’s fine, we will wait.2. 40 minutes later...we notice that a couple of people that came way after us (no reservation or anything) were seated before us.3. 60 minutes later...we approach the host to ask how long it will take to get seated, I glance at her list and noticed that our name wasn’t even on the list. I inform her that we’ve been waiting a while and we were disappointed that she didn’t even write our names down. She says she was sorry, and that we would be the next to be seated, give her 10 minutes...she then asked for our name, and finally wrote it down.4. 70 minutes later...The layout of the sidewalk outdoor seating area had barriers separating each 2 joined tables that sat up to 4 people, giving it a private outdoor heated dinning room feel. Couples that were seated before us received their own “private outdoor dinning room.” When it got to us however, the host separated the 2 tables to sardine us with another party of 2. In 2019, pre-covid that would be fine, however now, it being the 2nd wave and with the more contagious strain of COVID laying around, we didn’t feel comfortable... dinning out was already risky... being in close quarters with 2 strangers would of made it even more riskier. So we politely declined and asked if we can get our own space like the other couples that were seated before us. The Host then tells us that we would have to wait another 15 minutes. Frustrated but still with a little excitement left to try some gluten free vegan Saturday brunch, we said we will wait.5. 80 minutes later... the host then try’s to sardine us AGAIN while the outdoor dinning space we requested was empty. We pointed to the available seating and she tells us it’s unavailable while proceeding to seat a white couple that arrived after us. At that point we had enough and decided to take our black dollar somewhere else. Somewhere that we feel like we belong.Whilst the host was also a minority person( of Central American decent) there was evidenced bias in our entire experience. First the extra questioning made us feel like we didn’t belong - “you know that this is a gluten-free and Vegan restaurant, right? ” felt like a micro aggression. We know this, that’s why we came here.Besides there being 1 other black man that was seated with 4 white girls, we were the only other black couple looking to dine in or were actively dinning in.What a terrible black history month experience.
Wanted so much to like it more.B rating from health department got me off on the wrong foot. Family friendly with good kids menu options.Food commentary:* One son didnt like the chicken fingers.* The other loved his simply grilled salmon.* My veggie burger was tasty, but too tall to eat with a massive bun -- it required a reconstructive approach.* My wife liked her pasta special, and the fries were tasty.* Interesting draft beer options.Feels like well try another place next time were in the neighborhood instead of returning.
The good news is, we had two really excellent salads. Too expensive, but very tasty and fresh. The bad news is, our server seemed well-meaning, but inexperienced and awkward. In fact, most of the servers seemed a little clueless. There was a lot of, “is this your table? Is that my table? What are we doing now?“ and why was it an all male waitstaff? What is that about? But the space is nice, if a little bit loud, and the salads were good.
I went for lunch today, the waitress was fantastic. Order the Latkes with nova, sour cream, capers, onions, . It arrived at the table looked delicious, sliced into it and I found hair cooked into the Latkes. I actually pulled two strands out of the latkes. I called the waitress told her this women had the nerve too tell me the wind blew the hair into the latkes. After that remark I told her to stop you just being insulting, this waitress then tells me I must leave, of course I asked for the manager who apologized and said I didn’t have to pay. Advice don’t order the Latkes.
This place looked promising. Very creative menu. My burger was ordered medium, it came out well done. My partners salad came with little to no dressing. Our service was spotty., water glasses unfilled and we where not asked if the food was alright after it was delivered.
Service was casual and very hands on. Our waiter Brandon was personable, alert, and on top of everything. Kudos to a wonderful experience. When visiting, order freely and know you are in good hands. Dining with a large party makes it a little bit more interesting, since you can sample more dishes. Make sure you research what the restaurant front looks like to avoid getting lost. The sign is tiny. If you visit during the day, it is possible to access it through ABC Carpet & Home, but not at night. Of course, make a reservation ahead of time; they do fill up quickly.
Excellent food in flavor, freshness, and presentation. The portions are generous, the service is good and the Ambiance is simple but modern. All the salads are great The Omelette rap on the lunch menu is very filling and flavorful. For brunch the Mayan breakfast was hearty and filling and packed with flavor. The shakshuka was lacking flavor however and given the disappointment the manager quickly replaced it with another egg dish was excellent.
Being a fan of self serve fro-yo place, we decided to stop by this place. We found this place when we were walking around the mall. This place is located in the basement, near Fay Da Bakery & The Children Place. The place looks nice & clean. As for the yogurt selection, they were only about 8 to choose from. We got the peach & mango sorbet. After adding few toppings, ours came out to about $8. I think the weight was about 12 oz but we are not 100% sure. It was pretty good. We were definitely happy with what we got.As for the service, the cashier girl was pretty polite. We cant say much about the service here.Toppings selection were pretty good. They have the basic chocolate sprinkles, M&M, nuts, rainbow sprinkles, almonds, fruits, & MORE!We like this place. Well definitely go back if we happen to be in this mall again!
The food and service at Spring Natural Kitchen on 83rd & Columbus are SUPERB! After an extended illness which kept me at home for over a month, I finally was able to adventure out for a meal with friends even though I was still on a special diet. Thank goodness for this lovely restaurant!! Our server Clara C. was incredibly helpful and understanding of my dietary restrictions, and the kitchen staff perfectly prepared my meal exactly as I requested. I am beyond grateful for kind and gracious people like Clara and for accommodating restaurants like Spring Natural Kitchen that can make meals, even those from the most restrictive of diets, taste yummy!! And my friends all had delicious meals and tasty drinks as well! It was a delightful evening for all of us!!
My family had lunch there and the food was EXCELLENT!! Very reasonable pricing on the lunch menu (most entrees are 17 dollars or less), and the portions are a good size. Lots of healthy salads, vegan options, and gluten free options, but they also have burgers, chicken sandwiches, steak stir fry, and fish. My father had one of the daily specials- sea bass with Thai curry- and he got at least 8 oz of fish for only $20.00!! You never hear of that in the city! The chickpea fries and spring roll appetizers were delicious. I had the Mediterranean Winter salad with salmon: the vegetables were so fresh, and the salmon perfectly seared. Would highly recommend this place !!
This place Sping Natural kitchen has nice tasting natural food, (veggie burgar), tacos, salads, fish. The prices reflect the rents in the area. The service is poor. Our waitress had many tables. In addition, our waitress ignored us for a Spanish speaking European family. Really disappointed with the service. I do not recommend this place.
Pretension is not edible. Being greeted with, You have 90 minutes, and telling a customer that they cant be seated in an empty restaurant until their single dining companion arrives is not a winning practice.Servers are pleasant, but are not able to deal with special requests.Food: guacamole is good; red lentil penne was too al dente. Not going back.
The experience varies so much here that its impossible to give it more than 2 stars. A couple years ago, the brunch menu featured dark chocolate vegan pancakes, made with mashed banana and walnuts, which were delicious. However, they decided to take out 90% of the chocolate and all of the nuts, with a terrible result. As well, the dinner menu has changed to eliminate basically all protein. A salmon salad on the reasonably priced appetizer menu is gone; one can add salmon to a salad for an additional $9 cost. Fish tacos are no longer, replaced by just tacos, with a mushy interior. The service is generally bad and there seems to be no manager. Also, its a haven for families with screaming toddlers.
I went here for lunch a few weeks ago, and enjoyed the experience significantly. We had intended to go to Bloom, but due to a significant line we went here, where there was no line.My fiancee is a vegetarian, and it was very nice to see a place that provided vegan food and meat. She got a fantastic veggie burger (which I stole enough bites of to attest to quality of - only drawback is it had the standard veggie burger flaw of falling apart, but less significant than some veggie burgers) and I got a lamb burger with feta, onions and a fig paste. The server recommended it to me, and despite my skepticism I trusted her. It paid off because it was amazing. The service was good too, I asked out waitress if one of the cocktails was good and she was forthright enough to say that it was, but as there was no bartender on hand right then, she would be making it, and that it would be thus subpar. I appreciated her honesty (this also kept me from having a cocktail when I was going back to work in a few minutes - so that was a plus). We will be going back, give it a shot next time the line at Blossom is too long, or just for the hell of it. Meat and Vegan food is awesome - and I actually can tolerate vegan food.
Very delicious, organic food spot in the UWS. Highly recommend. We had the seafood stir fry and the saffron penne. The space is very open, which is hard to find in restaurants around this area. The staff is very helpful and available. They readily check on you throughout your visit, and you get a real friendly vibe within the restaurant. Great ambiance and will definitely be coming back.
I would really say this place is a 3.5 star but what the heck Ill round up. I appreciate the draft beer selection as well as the healthy alternatives on the menu. Wine pours are small but they have a good selection. The pricing I think is fair and many of the menus items have very tasty elements... I say elements as there always seems to be something I dont care for.Great ambiance, not too quiet or loud. Will be back.
We ordered, waited for an hour, didnt get our food: a chicken sandwich and pancakes. A SANDWICH AND PANCAKES, thats it. There was some sort of problem in the kitchen and because of this they offered some small plate courtesy... to the table next to us. During all this time no one mentioned to us about not being able to serve food. Great start of the weekend!
Went for dinner with kids in tow. Kids meals were fine. The adult stuff was bad, particularly the calamari as an appetizer and the hanger steak was over cooked to the point your jaw hurt from chewing. Salmon was very well done, but served on a mush of peas and tomatoes, all luke warm. The mezze was ordered as a main for one of the guests, it was swimming in olive oil and wasn’t at the right temp. I’mnot a first time customer, likely not to be a last time customer, but it was poor all round with service as well as food.
Me and my wife had reservations to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. This place is great.Nice ambiance, lite music, dim lights, and a nice intimate feel. Staff are very friendly and warm and our meals were excellent. Highly recommend to anyone whos in the area or for a date night.
Spring offers a varied menu of items made from fresh, natural ingredients. They offer organic and gluten free items as well. I opted for the Fresh Black Linguini w/ Seafood which included lump crab, jumbo shrimp, clams, calamari, mussels, zucchini, and fresh tomatoes in a light crushed pepper-lemon-butter sauce. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, burger, and entress of meat, seafood, and pasta. It was well worth the trip and I will be a frequent diner.
I am embarrassed to have suggested this restaurant for a reunion with very dear friends. We met for brunch, the service (except at the bar) was terrible, the food was either lukewarm or cold and the flavors were mild to bland. If this is among the top 10 places to brunch on the upper west side, go to another neighborhood.
Probably the only place Ive ever been to that gives me a huge sparkling water bottle... No plastic straws which is cool but at least they should get those paper straws because bring realistic theres probably bacteria from other people that dont brush... Food was amazing I suggest anything on the menu
The spring rolls were AMAZING I should have just ordered those and the glass noodles were yummy too. My Daughters chicken tenders were however either not cooked or just tasted bad but in any event she got sick and and threw up soooo I guess Im saying no great options for children?!?!?!? But I would return🤷🏾♀️
The best takeout I have ever gotten. I had the miso salmon and the sauce was spicy, umani, and sweet, all at once. It was perfectly portioned and layed out beautifully in the container. The staff was kind and funny when I picked it up. I had to even reheat it when I got back and it was still amazingly perfect.
Great food, awful service. I ordered a burger and they first gave me the wrong bun, then it came back with half the toppings. I also asked for no fries, but the server did not inform me it was a fixed price so I ended up paying full price for just the entree. This would not have been as much of an issue if the attitudes of 3 separate waiters I expressed my concern to (for some reason it had to be more than one?) hadnt spoken to me with annoyance and attitude.
This place is good place to go to frequently. The food quality is well worth it, and if youre in the neighborhood, then it a no brainer. The wines are not that expensive (and hope it stays that way) and the selections are even better. Pasta comes out perfect temperature and tastes delicious, without being too creamy. Didnt try any dessert so cant comment but they have the standard tiramasu, and panacota if you have a sweet tooth. I think Valerio does a great job running this place.
We were there for lunch and ordered 3 grilled vegetable sandwiches (supposed to come on a focaccia). After waiting for about 20 minutes we got 3 sad looking store bought burger buns with some grilled veggies and a disappointingly small side of potato salad. When we inquired about the bread, the waiter (who was perfectly nice) seemed surprised and claimed the kitchen didnt let him know. He checked for us and turns out they ran out of focaccia. Im wondering- why didnt they let us know? We would have just ordered something else instead of settling for this pathetic sandwich. We didnt have time to wait for another dish so we left unsatisfied and down $17 each. Will not come back.
Came here on vacation looking for good vegetarian options.Loved the vegetable spring rolls and fava bean fritters.I got the veggie burger with sweet potato fries. My burger was meh.My cousin got the Mahi-mahi. She loved the dish.Got a couple of cocktails as well. The infused jalapeno margarita was spicier than I thought it was going to be.Our service was awesome.
Really liked it here, the chicken cranberry salad was really well balanced, the veggie burger was really good and I just loved the sweet potato fries, so yummy and crispy. The place was a bit crowded but the wait was short and the waitresses really kind. Will definitely come bak (and try the taboulé and the maroccan lamb burger)
The food here is amazing (try the burger, pulled pork, and gnocchi). The wait in the UWS can get long on some nights, but it doesnt matter. The vibe is relaxing and lets you enjoy a drink (or two) at the bar. I wouldnt categorize this as a romantic date spot, but if your date is a foodie, they will appreciate the experience.
Really disappointed. I’ve been here several times and the service has just gone downhill. There was a mystery chunk of something in my coffee and when I raised it to the manager he didn’t apologize. He just took it away. The food was good but not like it used to be. Something changed. Not for the better.
Food tasted overalls fantastic. Two stars because service was only ok and the guac appetizer is a rip off. Half an avocado filled with guac and 6 chips for a whopping $13. I can go to an authentic Mexican restaurant in Bushwick and get triple the serving size for a fraction the price.
I’ve really tried with Spring... looks like a cool place and the menu is appealing. However, every time I go there I leave disappointed. Everything is an ordeal, getting a table takes forever (even when there is space), service is slow and inattentive, the food is hit or miss and takes forever to arrive. I’m done trying.

2022-07-07I hate to give bad reviews but we really weren’t pleased. The drinks were amazing. But the burgers was far less than great. The appetizers were OK. The cauliflower poppers and fish tacos were the best part of our meal.

2022-04-13Quick and dirty review:- eat here. It’s great.Longer review:Walked in to this place and my first impression was that it’s big and clean. The cherry blossoms outside added to the atmosphere and the color scheme inside. The seating was comfortable, the staff was friendly, efficient and very helpful answering the questions we had.First, the drinks. They were amazing. Well crafted, fresh and tasted amazing! The food itself was a dream. Seriously, I had the crispy chicken sandwich and moving forward that’s all I ever want to eat. It was amazing. Will definitely be going back here!!

2022-07-01Gluten free. Place is picturesque (instragramable). Great ambience & atmosphere. Inside and outside dining available. Known for its drinks mostly. Happy hour is until 7pm. I got the espresso martini, it was alright, not my favorite. Got 3 appetizers to keep it light and simple. I enjoyed the lentil soup. The Brussel sprouts were disappointing, very oil drenched and blend. The mini quesadellas tasted like corn tortillas with potatoes... very blend and tasteless.Overall Interesting experience.

2022-07-22I was so excited for Gluten Free & Vegan and so disappointed. I know many things do not travel well but delivered 1 mile away light traffic? Everything fried was super greasy, soggy and fell apart. (Zucchini fries pictured)The burgers were so undercooked. The bean burger was awful not seasoned and was like a paste not cooked through at all. The All American, Plain Jane and Original (2 pictured) were severely undercooked they were still raw cold in the middle.Maybe it’s more tasty dining in but I can’t recommend delivered. Also Uber eats estimated 50 mins delivery but it was delayed >1 hour after that ordered at 7 on a week night?$20 per burger alacart, Total bill $150 before tip 🫤

2022-07-09Great restaurant, great food and great vibe. Went for my first date with my boyfriend a year ago and came back a year later for our anniversary.Only issue we had was a Karen getting mad because she was waiting to be seated while we had a reservation and was sat first. Staff handled the situation well and sat us quickly.

2022-04-08I really, really wanted to like this place.I saw the menu a week ago and it looked so delicious that wanted to try every single item.Place is cute and dishes are very pretty and definitely TikTok and Insta ready.Unfortunately the food didn’t stand up to the hype.Ingredients are fresh and menu enticing. However, everything comes out just incredibly bland and tasteless.$22.00 Fish tacos were tasteless as was accompanying rice and beans.Zucchini fries - soggy and sad.Old School burger- tastelessMahi Mahi sandwich- tastelessFries - soft and tastelessIt seems as if spices, herbs and salt were chef’s enemies.Drinks were excellent. Kudos to the Bartender.Service was detached and not very friendly, with exception of one gentleman wearing sparkly silver tie t-shirt who was really good.P.S. just a little bit of salt and some spices would instantly elevate the experience to 5 stars. Ingredients and menu are already there. For the time being I’ll stick to Mexican places that are already full of flavors.I may go back for the cocktails.

2022-05-10I found this place while looking for gluten-free restaurants for lunch. The meals were.okay overall, but the service was weird, we didnt feel very welcomed. After finishing what we ordered, they brought us the check without asking if we wanted something else.

2022-02-02I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while as walking by it is always quite busy and the cocktails look delicious, but boy was I disappointed. I ordered the fried chicken burger and it was quite blend. I was excited to eat it as the bun looked homemade. The slaw and aioli were tasty, but the fried chicken was tasteless. This was the worst fried chicken I have ever had. No salt, pepper or any other seasoning. I did feel an oily aftertaste, which makes me think that the oil used to fry the chicken has been re-used too many times. I also did not like that the burger did not come with fries so I had to order them separately. One star for the service, which was excellent and another star for the Besos Calientes cocktail (with a regular ice cube instead of the cerano ice cube), which was also excellent. Unfortunately, I will not return nor recommend this restaurant.

2021-12-27I came here with 3 non-vegan friends on a Saturday night and we had a great experience.Food:Starters-Patatas bravas were delicious! Loved the spices and the diff textures. Cooked to perfect crisp!Quesadillas were soooo good. Wow! They were crunchy and the cheese melted so well. The flavors tasted authentically Mexican and I’d def order again.Main-Kale salad + crispy tofu was rly good. Kale was massaged well with flavor and I loved the crunch of the apples and the dressing was a good amount. Tofu was crispy af and cut in huge cubes. My friends ordered the quinoa bowl and it tasted and smelled like rotten food. Idk if it’s meant to be like that but they hated it and I don’t recommend. This is why I took off 1 star. Lol.Drinks- all delicious and worth to return for them!I ordered the coconut dreams and loved the balance of strong alcoholic taste with sweetness of coconut.Friends loved their drinks too.Service:A1. Everyone is so friendly and polite. We were the only ones there basically, but they were quick and professional.Ambiance:Amazing music and dope decor. It was my vibe 100%. They had drake playing at one point and it was just a dream meal for me.
