I joined Tiger Schulmann late in life, looking to get fit and develop my self-defense skills—I got that, and so much more. I’m in the best shape of my life, with more energy and better endurance than I had in my 30’s and 40’s, and still developing new skills. I attribute it all to this school. The training program is rigorous and challenging but allows each student to progress at their own pace, while providing the guidance and motivation to reach your next goal (and there is always a next goal!). Just as important is the character of the school itself. Sensei Levy and his talented team of supportive and friendly instructors create a consistently positive atmosphere and a sense of school-spirit that makes this a very special place. A diverse group of people, from all walks of life, and of all ages and skill levels, come together as a mutually supportive community. This keeps you coming back and helps you through the rough patches—and it makes it a lot of fun!
This is a second home everyone’s makes you feel welcome and motivated!! Instructors and staff are always very attentive to each person. It’s great for adults and kids anyone of age teaches you life skills helping boost your self esteem confidence and helps in every aspect . You create a bond with other students they become like family for a life time. I guarantee it will be one of the choices you make.
At Tiger Shulmann’s Bay Ridge we are not just a Sensei, Joshus and their Students , we are FAMILY ! Everyone is amazing ! Signing up my kids to Tiger as well as myself and my husband has been one of the best decisions/investments we have made. Training as a family has definitely brought us closer.

Highly recommended. Instructors know their job and students have positive attitude. I encourage people to join to practice 2-3 times per week to get results. I gained more muscles in 2-3 weeks drinking protein shakes before the exercise. I fell stronger as well. I recommend it because it makes a positive change on your mind and body.

It is with a heavy heart that I post this review as I’m moving to GA, otherwise I would never leave this place!!!I will miss this amazing school and the phenomenal teachers who pour their heart and soul into this practice. Thank you Joshu Elaine, Jeremy Garcia, Anthony, Wilson, Sensei Levy and many others!! Special thanks to Diana for her energy and Jeremy for his jokes!! I’m not exaggerating when I say I make an effort to come in after a rough 14 hr shift, or 24 hrs postcall (by taking a Uber from the hospital) to make it to class on time. If anyone is looking for a gym to call home or the best investment of a lifetime (YOUR HEALTH) or a cool place to train w your kids (only if you’re into raising adorable courageous kind kids), this is your place! Your technique will be impeccable (after earning stripes and questioning every class whether you’re dripping sweat or tears) as you keep coming back for more!P.S. I’m secretly (but also openly) hoping the gym will expand to GA...a girl can dream. 😊 until we meet again!!
Tiger Schulman’s has been hands down the best investment for our entire family. We were first exposed to the organization through Sensei Nick Pace (Tottenville) and now with Sensei Nissim Levy (Bay Ridge). Grateful for the experiences from day 1. The kids get a lot of structure out of the classes and keeping to a schedule, which has been amazing, particularly when schools shut down. They also learn a valuable life skill while exercising - via Zoom from home. We get so much out of being a part of TSMA.
Tough, but worth it. My son has been attending here for approximately 6 years. He was always the one getting beat up in the beginning, now; it’s the other way around. The staff are great, sensei’s know what they doing. Definitely worth it.
I first took my son in to learn self defense because he was being bullied. When I walked in, I was amazed at the discipline the kids, some as young as 6 years old lined up and standing at attention. I also noticed how Sensei levy paid attention to each child as the if they were the only one in the room. My son took a trial class and loved it.A month later I was asked to take a free trial class myself. I was 43 out of shape, over weight with high cholesterol diagnosed with moderate coronary arterial disease so I was looking to improve my lifestyle. I took the intro class And was hooked from that moment on. I lost 40 pounds in just a few months. I looked and felt great. After a year I stopped taking my medication but kept on training. I would go to my doctor and he would give me a good report and a refill on my dosages. After a few years of sticking to a routine I went to my doctor, got the same good report and a refill. I gave the doc back the rx and told him “I don’t need this anymore I have been off the medication for years.” He asked me what I was doing to replace the meds and I told him it was a dedication to regular training. The doctor could not believe it but said keep doing what your doing.The staff at Tiger Schulmann Bay Ridge is amazing. The talk the talk but walk the walk as well. The motivate by leading by example.Fast forward 10 years from my son and my first class. I am no longer a 52 year old. I now feel and look half my age. I am a black belt in mma. I have been consistent with my training through out the last 10 years. My son is still training and is the anti-bully. He walks around confidently and has the discipline of a man beyond his years. I spent a lot of time growing my son up to be a man I could be proud of. I have Sensei Levy and the staff of Tiger Schulmann to thank for helping me grow him up well.

I started at tiger Shulmanns at a really young age and believe it or not it really benefited my life in more ways than can be explained! It built my confidence and taught me self defense that actually saved me in a lot of situations, it’s more than a school it’s a family whatver you need that’s what they’re there for. Always great support and help! Especially Sensei levy he helped me go on to the straight path as a person and as a fighter. With his help I was one of the top grapplers in tournaments, in the school, ETC and also a great student he encourages you to do well in school not just in the sport. I love it so much that I brought my little brother so that he could have the same amazing life experience and benefits as I did. I only regret not enrolling him sooner! Best decision I’ve ever made for myself and him was to join, I’ll always be greatful for the benefits of it that helped in an everyday life.
My son goes to Tiger Schulmann in bay ridge. The atmosphere is great. It has helped with his behavior and it allows him to let off steam in a disciplined way. The staff is great. Nothing but positive experiences coming from this school.
A little more than a year ago a friend of mine recommended I attend a trial class because I was looking for an alternative exercise while training for a half marathon., I attended my first class on a Saturday, leading the class was Sensei Levy, with well over 20 year of experience the class was on fire. While the class is training, highly trained instructors Joshu Jeremy, Sempi Rios, Ms. Elaine, walk around the room observing and providing Individual instruction when needed. The constant positive reinforcement assures you that hard work will pay off, and before you know it you have become a part of a great family, one that is encouraging, respectful and caring, a culture that Is regularly instilled by Sensei Levy and the rest of the team. Sundays core class is completely unique from the other classes, its like the icing on top of the cake, lead by Joshu Anton a man that can tap into your psyche driving you miles beyond your limits with few words. You leave every class feeling 100 % pleasantly spent. You dont have to be fit to go to Tiger Schulmann Bayridge, but its for certain you will become fit, confident and capable of of defending yourself soon after joining. I have only ONE regret... I didnt find them sooner, I think most people do.
Tiger Schulmann’s has been a big impact of my life and has helped me defend myself against others and has taught me to grappling and kickboxing. It was a great experience training there for these past 5 years and would highly recommend to someone who wants to learn to fight, defend themselve or to lose weight.

I listed my son and daughter there then after few month my son didnt want to go there anymore. They told me I have to pay for the whole year even if he is not going to come. I told her how come I pay for a service my son didnt take she then answered that I signed a yearly contract I told her then I dont want my daughter to go too and they didnt just lose one customer she was rude and told me she doesnt need my recommendation and she sent my papers to a collection agency seriously Putting my kids there was the worst decision I have ever taken.
I’ve been going to this school for 7 years and it was one of the best choices I have ever made. I learned self defense and self discipline and it is a great workout as well. My brother started to come here a year or 2 ago and it has been great for him too.
This martial arts gym is great. The staff is friendly and treat me like family. I get a great workout both mentally and physically every time i come to train
The staff is very rude. After getting into a heated discussion with the asian manager she later approached my little brother who is a child and said your sisters not allowed back in here and you can tell your father now i may only be a mother to one child but i for certainly know that i would not involved a child in adult conversation. Nor would i use a child to convey important information like that I must have intimidated her enough for her not to tell me that to my face.
My son has been coming here for over 3 years, ever since he started his focus and discipline has gotten a lot better, he is very happy coming here and the staff is great too! Thank you tiger Schulmans bay ridge.

The Bay Ridge Tiger Schulmanns school is the best in the whole Organization and about the staff very professional.

Today I went to find out the cost of the registration and the staff was very rude. I was watching what the classes were and the woman who gave me the information addressed me in a disrespectful way and told me to leave the place, she said that I could not observe the classes.
Its great its been awesome for my daughter its helped her immensely with her physical therapy.
The manager recommended me 2 class a year and i learn the basic the whole year , which is really mess up for scamming my money

2022-05-25We have our 3 sons on Trainingam super thankful we do, my oldest son triple J Tiger Schulamns name him back on garden City and continue on bay ridge after we move. My oldest son 13 got attack by another kid his age with a knife and manage to defend himself thanks to the efford and great teacher this academy offers.

2022-03-05Very friendly. Works with you. The staff and Joshues (teachers) are very dedicated. They push you to help you get stronger, faster, and better than yourself. They are very supportive. Its makes the training center feel warm, inviting, and like an extended family.

2018-06-09Very attentive to the students and teaches kids practical martial arts. They emphasize life lessons of not being a bully and how to defend themselves against bullies. This is not a McDojo, they teach kids boxing, grappling and then kickboxing. The instructors are well versed in mixed martial arts and as a parent you will see results. They frequently challenge the kids and have tournaments within And outside the school. The goal is to always challenge the kids and have them break out of their shell and become confident kids.

2019-01-09Since my son has started here at the age of 5 he has gained so much from focus confidence growth. The staff is truly welcoming they treat you as one of there family because truly thats what they are a family with one another.My niece takes part in the cub program she is special needs being somewhat hesitant to have her take the classes.With there love dedication they have showed us there are no limits to who can be taught. I recommend eyes closed. Come stop by visit see for yourself you wont regret it.

Stoic and fair, he makes sure that everyone is catered to. His dedication to keeping the school clean is unparalleled. 2020-07-27We signed up our three sons for Tiger Schulmann. They really enjoy taking the classes. For my oldest he took the adult classes 4 days a week and it really helped him get into shape. Also, Sensei Levy really motivates the students and looks after them. It’s a safe environment and the kids really learn some useful skills.

2019-01-04My 6 year old son has been going there a few months. Excellent people with a focus on discipline. My son enjoys the beginner class and the grappling class. Great program and the staff memebers are very nice people and professional. Your child is defiantly not just another number they all know the kids by name and give a focused individual attention to help the kids grow by black belt teachers. If I did not work out of town I would sign up for classes myself. They also put on great holiday parties for the kids.

2020-07-19Tigers is awesome. We moved to the area a year ago and did a thorough search of martial arts clubs in the area for our Son. Tigers was the most responsive, has an amazing kids program and incredible instructors. Both their in person and online classes are top notch. Tigers will be one of the things we miss most about the area when we move in two years.
