My daughter joined tiger Shulmans almost 2 years ago, she is 4 years old now and we love it! Jared is an amazing teacher and my daughter learns so much, not only does she learn karate, she is taught life lessons and to one day become a strong independent women, Ive tryed one other karate place before I found tiger Shulmans and it was a joke compared to what Jared teaches the kids, if your looking for an amazing place to train, this should be your one and only place to look! This is what my daughter looks forward to every day, counting down the days to when her next class is. His class builds strength and confidence!
We have been attending the Nanuet school for approximately 7 years and Joshu Jared has been instrumental with the growth and development of many kids in the Nanuet area. The school is diverse with classes for all experience levels and age groups. A lot of the kids who have trained together for a very long time have great relationships with each other at the school. When the kids move on to the advanced class - they really do train hard and spar with each other and it has been a good experience for my kid.
Great MA experience for my middle school boy. He started out at different place, but changed to TS in Nanuet, where he loves it! The Sensei keeps it very fun and engaging, and makes each student feel special - and they get an awesome education in Tigers version of Martial Arts!
I recently signed up here, and it’s an awesome program! I really hate doing cardio but the kickboxing classes here are the perfect way for me to burn off calories and lose body fat while doing something I greatly enjoy! Jared is an awesome instructor too!
I can’t say enough good things about TSMMA in Nanuet, the owner/head instructor Joshu Jared Salzman, and all of the instructors and assistants. Joshu Jared truly cares about each and every student and creates a very positive atmosphere and a sense of community amongst all of the members. He has an excellent MMA program that focuses on self defense, discipline, respect, confidence, and overall health/fitness - at the same time keeping the kids engaged and having fun. The confidence my son has gained through his instruction has carried over into so many other aspects of his life to the point where other people have commented to me about how much he has “come out of his shell”. My son had no self esteem as he developed into a young teen. It was for no other reason then he just didnt think people would like him for who he was. He also had very low muscle tone and would fall down often just from tripping over his own feet. He tried playing football, soccer, etc. but did not feel like he belonged, even though he was a very fast runner. Eventually he started gaining weight and his BMI was to a point the doctor started getting concerned.As his mom I was determined to find something he would love. The day I walked in Tiger Schulmanns in Nanuet and met Jared was the best thing I ever did for my son. Jared is not only very approachable, understanding, and passionate about what he can do for people, but his motivation is what changed my sons life.My son walked into his first class over 2 years ago and still to this day never wants to miss class. Hes strong, fast, in great shape, and has lost the weight just by being consistent. No diets. He still eats like a teenager. The best part is, his self esteem has sky rocketed. He is confident, kind and courageous. Jared is not only a great martial arts instructor but a great role model and I cant thank him and his colleagues enough!
Im truly enjoying everything about Tiger Schulmanns in Nanuet. Its an amazing workout (cardio and strength), its teaching me self defense, plus its a major stress reliever. Theres also a wonderful sense of community and the head trainer, Jared, is phenomenal. Hes teaching this old dog new tricks, is amazing with kids and I love how he works with special needs students. You can just tell many people are there for years because of his coaching style. I also like that they have classes for all levels from beginners to black belts and everything in between. The more seasoned people are also very helpful with beginners. Im new to this and in just months feel Ive come a long way physically and mentally. Osu!
My sin has been going there for 5 years and absolutely love it! He is autistic and the program helped him to be more social and confident. Jared, the owner is great and love what he does.
Brought my 5 and 6 year old here to gain some discipline and more importantly confidence. What a great experience! Jared knows how to connect and relate to these kids that allows them to learn and develop in a fun but very controlled environment. And at the end of every session he teaches them a new lesson that they can take with them for the week - and for life! This place is amazing, my twins love it here. They feel safe, happy, confident and themself. They have grown so much and enjoy coming to the class. They always talk about how amazing Joshu is and we all have respect for him. Will highly recommend this place!!
My son is having the best experience there, he has endless energy and this is a great place for a kid to channel it into and the way joshu Jared and his assistants deals with the children is incredible. He has a Great balance of discipline and making it a fun experience at the same time and the kids really feel it and it motivates them to learn!
Absolutely love Joshu and his staff! They are definitely like a second family. I couldn’t have chosen a better place for my son to do MMA! Definitely a 5 star place! What I like about it the most is they really help build a kids confidence and teaches them how to defend/protect themselves from bullies and strangers.
Words cannot express how amazing Nanuet Tiger Schulmanns is, genuinely. I signed my 3 year old son up to get him involved in an activity that would teach him discipline and build his confidence. He immediately became obsessed with going to class and practicing everywhere he went. He constantly talks about karate and how much he loves his Joshus. Jared and the rest of his staff makes it such a fun and productive experience every class. My son has not only learned cool new moves, but hes learned about respect, confidence, safety, and how to protect himself. I would recommend Tiger Schulmanns to anyone and everything!
We have been so happy with our time here at Tiger Schulmans! Joshu Jared has been professional and supportive, and flexible with our varying needs over the last few weeks as we got used to class, even in the midst of this complicated pandemic year.
Joshu Jared and his team are exemplary, very sincere, put in lots of efforts with the kids and have a really positive attitude. My son learned a lot not only of martial arts but also about being a good responsible student.
Jared is a great teacher. I started the adult class a few years ago such a great program and all around workout. I now bring my son and he is showing more confidence and discipline.
So my wife and I were looking for something for our 7 yr old daughter to help her with her focus, confidence and self awareness. We brought her to Tiger Schulmann’s of Nanuet and within 1 month she not only loves TSMA but also loves her Joshu. It’s already been a year now and this has been such a good fit for us. I want to say thank you to Joshu Jared for being just the right kind of everything for our daughter. Also, thank you for the ZOOM classes. They have been great for this current situation that we’re facing now.

My son Asher is currently enrolled at Tiger Schulmann Martial art for 3yrs now. Asher has gain confidence, self esteem, structure of the Martial art, and patience. Asher first couple of weeks was hard, but the instructor and staff are very patient and very understanding with all of the kids. I would give Tiger Schulmann five stars all around especially now with covid 19 the gym is sanitized an kept clean and guideline safe. I am a teenager and have been going here for a while now, and I can tell you this place is really good for kids who need to boost their self esteem or just want a good workout. The atmosphere is really good and the Joshu is really nice and inspirational to all his students. I highly recommend Tiger Schulmann’s in Nanuet to anyone who is thinking of joining.
I have a 6 yr old daughter who is into ballet, gymnastics and other stuff girls of her age are interested in. She tried a karate class at a different dojo where her older male cousin was going but did not like it. To her its a boy thing. So coming to TSMMA school was a long shot but joshu Jared made it happen! We now have our own standing punching bag in our living room which my wife will never forgive me anyway for getting one despite living in a small apartment. But at least i get to train with my daughter at TSMMA and become a WaRRioR in our own Right!😎
The owner (head instructor, Joshu) has got to be one of the greatest people on the planet. He loves kids. He loves to teach. He is always in good spirits, and hes on top of communication like you wouldnt believe. I havent met a person more attentive, kind, caring, and always glowing.All of the other instructors here have been a pleasure as well, ALL OF THEM! My wife, my son, and I are all members, PROUD members. We have been part of the Nanuet TS family for well over 3-years and going.To top it off, the training I had at this school actually came in extremely handy in a very serious, real-life, threatening situation I had over a year ago. Thanks to the training, I came out literally with just a scratch, and the perpetrator in prison.I cant see how anyone would be anything less than extremely satisfied with this school.There is not a person on this planet that wouldnt fit into this school. There are people of all shapes, ages, and sizes here. All good people!! 5-star without a doubt!!
Joshu Salzmann is an incredible teacher! My daughter has bipolar disorder as well as ADHD and with his teachings of self defenses, she has been able to not only control her outbursts, but she’s been advancing through hard work and dedication. Even when Covid-19 happened, she missed being in class. But then Joshu started doing Zoom classes so she was able to see her teacher on a more frequent basis. Nothing has made her happier than to return to her dojo last week and continue her classes. Joshu is so considerate and compassionate to each family’s situation and works closely with the parents and kids through constant communication, encouragement and motivation for my daughter and us parents at time of difficulty. Thanks Joshu!
Who would have thought that, at my age, Id get into kickboxing? Joshu Jared and the others are skilled instructors who truly care about their students. It is like being adopted into a large, very diverse family and being loved just for being part of it. You should try it. You wont be disappointed!

I enrolled my 3-yr old son here. He is the smallest/youngest in the beginner class but the owner is very patient with him. Two thumbs up!

Great instructors, you really get a good workout and you learn fantastic technique for self-defense. You learn Maui Thai in a very effective and practical way. They take great interest in your progress and take the time to help you along personally.
Started our two boys here and they have progressed in a short time. I myself am taking clases seeing how good the classes are!

My son was shy and being bullied in school . When I came to talk to Joshu he spoke to my son not me about how he was going to make him strong and confident and turn him into a champion after the second class I noticed a big change in my sons self confirmdence he wanted to demonstrate combinations . I have also joined and the classes and fun and very imformative and I have lost weight already after just 2 classes

Amazing place to bring your children(btw amazing program for adults too)i brought my son with adhd ..he could stay still or sit yet alone fallow directions .....few weeks passed and we saw a 360 change in behavior at school and at home he was a new kido ...he sat and listen and even stoped a bully ...now my daughter joined she was all depressed and suffers anxiety and well we are 4 classes in and she has 3 new friends .. gain confidence and doesnt have much anxiety attacks ... she even woke up on time for school ... and lets not forget joshu jared his amazing with kids and kids love him .. he teaches the kids of there self worth and how to defend them selfs from bullys and strangers ...ooo and plus theres gana be a summer camp and kids are beging to be in it ...join the tsmma familyits a stress free family zone
To say this place has changed my life is an understatement. Diabetic and out of shape before coming here. Diabetes under control and Im in the best shape of my life. This is a self defense school that is like a family. I took Tiger Schulmanns when it was karate many years ago. They have stayed relevant and theres a reason they are still here. I stopped training because of things in my life but came back mostly because of the philosophy and the instructor. He is one of the best and trains everyone at their ability (i.e. wont make you do something if you arent ready), but knows how to get every ounce out of you. Dont expect to show up and master the art. It takes time and dedication but I promise you it will be the best thing you can do for yourself. Dont think you cant-you can. Im 50 years old and I challenge you to come by and figure out who I am. Its the best way to take care of you. Do it! It has saved my life. Let it save yours.
Joshu Saltzman has a passion for martial arts that is obvious. He has created a safe and fun learning environment where everyone is free to learn skills at their own pace.
Walked in looking for a place to get in shape, but found much more. In addition to getting in shape, you learn valuable self-defense techniques. At Nanuet, everyone is treated like an equal member of the team, no matter skill level.
As a special needs adult kickboxing has helped me get out of my comfort zone and feel confident in myself tiger schulmann it building your self esteem and it definitely better than a gym it works the intruder passion about his art and every good for special needs kids or teens or adults it a good way to feel more confident and feel good check it out you wont regret it ps ask to to team up with me

2021-03-24My daughter is full of energy and I enrolled her at this school to burn energy and to teach her discipline. She has been attending classes here for 2 months and her discipline has improved so much. I can see how hard she works because she’s inspired by her cohorts. I am thoroughly impressed. Also, Jared is amazing with the children. I hope he likes us because he is stuck with us ! Lol

2021-03-24I’m so happy I signed my kids up to Tiger Schulmann’s in Nanuet. Jared is amazing!!! He’s taught my kids not only self defense, but also to be confident & make them feel awesome. I have a 11yr old son whose Autistic & has regressed throughout this awful pandemic, but since he started Tiger Schulmann’s in September, he’s progressed so much. Now he follows instructions in class, stays focus & engages with his peers. I highly recommend this place.

2020-07-21Since enrolling my children into tiger schulmann I have noticed theyre increased level of confidence, discipline, and respect. These are just an added bonus to the peace of mind I get as a parent knowing my children are being taught well on how to defend themselves if needed. Jared makes sure each student is well looked after and leaves no student struggling behind. Im especially impressed with the great attention to detail in regards of cleanliness during this pandemic. The protocols being enforced assure me that my children and all students attending are safe and protected.

2021-03-24Four years ago, my 3 1/2 year old saw a commercial for Tiger Schulmans, and I called Joshu Jared on a whim to see if he took students that young, and he invited her to her own class to see if she liked it. Today shes a blue belt, strong, polite and outgoing. Shes even inspired her 11 year old sister to join! Martial arts training is 90% the instructor, and you wont find a better one with children in the whole county.

2021-03-24My child has been at this TS location for the past year. He’s in the children’s class, level 1 where they focus more on discipline, following directions, learning proper form, and to grow mentally strong. The instructor does a great job at controlling the sometime rowdy classes and paying attention to every student. Most importantly he takes time to teach life lessons; stay away from strangers, how to handle a bully, listening to parents, etc...The classes are expensive but with the zoom class options, it’s worth the money.

2021-03-24I was slightly apprehensive at the monthly cost initially, but the progress I have seen in my son has made it worth every Penny. I definitely recommend Tiger Schulman’s class in Nanuet for anyone interested in helping their kid’s gain confidence, discipline and respect. The change I’ve seen in just 2 months in the program has been tremendous. The owner is the best in town with kids!!! PS: the adult kickboxing classes are great too!

2019-10-05I’ve been a member of the Tiger Schumann world for over 15 years and now my 5 year old son started training. We travel 30 minutes each for way all our classes just to be a part of Nanuet’s school. The instructor has a great balance of teaching techniques while boosting my sons self-confidence; he makes order, structure and discipline fun and something my son looks forward to every week. In the 6 months we’ve been at this school my son has show growth in his patience, his flexibility and technique. I couldn’t ask for a better environment!

2021-01-28I will always have to say good things about Tiger Schulmanns Nanuet. My son has been going there for 4 years, never once said he wanted to quit. It taught him about respect, self defense, standing up for himself. It helped change him from a shy kid that would allow others to boss him around into a kid who is assertive, in addition to other ways used in the family and school; from a kid who wasnt very strong into a kid with strength. In these challenging times it is probably one of the cleanest places that allows kids to exercise and belong somewhere. My list is very long indeed but this is thanks to Joshu Jarred who teaches our kids not just technique but how to be ....period!
