Tiger Sugar in other cities:
Really simple request to have no boba with the milk tea and add pudding. Other Tiger Sugar can do it, why cant you? Either way. I bought a number 2 with tiger jelly and number 5 with pudding. Both has boba and I just dump the boba away. Simple but cant be done, just want me to waste food and money.
Tbh, I dont get what the hype is. There isnt a variety of drinks, which is good. It means they have *something* perfected. But Ive just had better. Nothing wrong with the presentation, the service was average, and the flavor was just a bit different than what Ive had before.
I ordered the brown sugar boba milk + pearl with cream mousse. It had regular boba and mini boba. The flavor was was good but definitely too sweet. I would have much preferred to pick the sweetness levels. The kiosk struggled to accept payment. The vibe in the store was uncomfortable, we were the only ones in the store but felt like we were watched and pressured to leave as soon as we got our drinks.
Although the packaging and look is aesthetically pleasing, we didn’t love the beverage itself. Overall, the sugar and cream was just a bit too overwhelming for our tastes, and you couldn’t even taste the tea. They also mix small and large tapioca balls by default in their signature drink, which feels a bit strange as a default. Nonetheless, if you prefer a super creamy and sugary drink, this could be your place!
A friend got boba from this shop for me and I will 10/10 buy it in the future! I had a Brown Sugar Boba and Pearl Milk Tea. The milk was creamy and the brown sugar syrup had a deep rich flavor. The boba pearls were chewy and varying in sizes, which I personally enjoyed. I dont know about the pricing, but whatever it is I believe its worth it and I highly recommend you try this shop.
This is the third location, which is in Chinatown! Closer to home! However, there is still a long line. But the wait is worth it! I got their new drink that has coffee jelly topping in it and it is good! The drink is the same as the regular one, but just an extra topping. I felt that the first time I had brown sugar at Tiger Sugar, I couldn’t taste much of the brown sugar. After trying again, I love the drink! It’s more creamier and I could taste a strong brown sugar taste!
The staff was very rude, we came in 3:40 and wait for 30 more minutes for our drink. Even people who ordered behind us got their drinks but we didnt. I went to ask the staff about it, and she just gave us a glance and told us to wait aside. Eventually we had the drinks, I asked again for a bag and the staff did not give me any words. Such bad service, seriously?? I have never been in a bubble tea store with such horrible experience. 就算服务态度弔差,这边建议也不要对着顾客翻白眼呢,毕竟这样真的显得很没有礼貌呢😅
Ordered their bestseller number 4 (brown sugar boba with coffee and cream cheese) and it was very delicious. Like other reviews said, the price was a little high for the size but it’s worth it. They only take Visa or MasterCard, and cash; so, be aware if you’re using Amex or Discover.
Tiger Sugar was the bubble tea place I didnt know I needed, until I happened to cross it on a cold winter day in NYC. Of course there would be a line, as do most new boba places have. I hadnt really heard much about Tiger Sugar, but it looked good to stop and give it a try.Interior is very minimal, but clean and aesthetic for quick photos. There are several bar style arm rests on the side, and just the cashier and kitchen to the back. Drinks come out very efficiently, just order and wait for your number to appear on the led display. Ask for the most popular drink, you cannot go wrong with this choice. Large brown sugar boba is a wonderful treat, I got this as a cold drink, even as the cold windy weather outside kept brewing. I think this drink might be good hot too, but didnt have a chance to try. There are other choices on the menu, plenty of other drink variations to try. Hopefully Ill be back in the NY soon to come here again!
Love Tiger Sugar! Of course, it will never taste quite like it does in Asia, but compared to other bubble tea in the US, it is still excellent! Get the one with the star next to it on the menu 😊 Also heads up that there is a $10 minimum to pay with card, so either go with a friend or have cash if you’re going alone!
Small bubble tea shop with only standing bar, no seat. Its super busy. I was in a waiting line for almost 10 minutes then I realized that the group in front of me wasnt in the waiting line so I had to move and wait longer in the real line. Make sure you ask for waiting line because people is everywhere inside this place just for talking or wait for their order. Tea is good, served in hot/cold. Their menu is almost about black/brown sugar tea for $5.5 . I gave 4 star because the size of tea is way smaller for $5.5 (1 size only)
Yo! Came by here on 11/15 friday night. I was invited by a NYC food blogger to try the new brown sugar milk boba tea. Holy smokes... I never really had a thing for this.-This warm & cold brown sugar milk was SO good. Not too sweet yet you can taste the bold flavors and those little Pearls of joy were so awesome to bite into :)-Officially a bubble (boba) tea fan. Too bad I dont live in NY. But maybe a good thing cuz otherwise Id be In there quite often lol
Omg! Their brown sugar milk boba tea is to DIE FOR!!!! You havent lived until youve tried one of these! Its sweet, but not saccharine with a nutty taste from the brown sugar syrup. Its creamy from the milk mousse they drop in. And the bubbles are just the right amount of soft and chewiness that really brings this drink together. Just make sure you shake it at least 15 times to mix everything together really well!
I love boba tea and milk tea, so I was very excited to try out Tiger Sugar. I have been to Tiger Sugar in other Asian countries, but never in the USA.I was so happy to find it and try it out! Its so yummy and really has the same taste as the one Ive tried in Asia.Looking forward to going back soon!!IG-@traveleen_gurl
Taiwanese chain store that has taken the world by storm. They offer the best brown sugar boba milk that Ive ever had but m not sure if its worth waiting on a lengthily line for. This location seems to be the most efficient of the all 3 locations that Ive visited in NYC.
Came around 2:30 on a Saturday and there was a line out the door. However it moved pretty decently. Took me about 30m from getting in line to receiving my drink. They have a ticketing system which makes it easy to track your order. Also $10 minimum for using credit cards.Definitely worth the wait, the boba with cream mousse was delicious and Im normally not a huge fan of boba.
This is definitely not just another boba place in Chinatown. Aside from the asthetically pleasing drinks, its also delicious. Its pretty limited on drink options but quality over quantity right??You have to try the brown sugar boba with cream mousse. If you like small boba you can get it with pearls or even get it mixed! No adjustments to the drinks are available so youll have to get it as is. They use real milk so sorry to all those lactose intolerant people, theres no alternatives! The drink overall tastes like caramel milk with soft, chewy boba. They also have plain tea which is decent!Overall, great place to indulge and get boba
Nice place, no seating area but plenty of space to chill. Forgot to take a picture of the drink once i got it. The brown sugar went to the bottom so not as nice of a look. The bubble big and small ones they are very chewy, the drinks was not too sweet and not too creamy. No need or optiom to ask for less sweet so it was prefect
The milk in my drink was split. When I informed the service desk lady politely and asked if I can get a replacement she replied rudely that I can’t get a replacement or a refund. I would never go back here. There are many other places which give better bubble teas and customer service. This place is just hyped without any substance.
I loveeeeeee Tiger Sugar!! I had it for the first time in Toronto so when I found out a location opened in Chinatown, I had to get some. Before COVID, the store was always extremely packed to the brim but now the entire store is laid to maintain social distancing. When theres no wait, drinks come out in less than 5 minutes after ordering. I definitely reccommend if you wanna see what all the fuss is about regarding brown sugar boba.
People at work have been babbling about this place for a year. I blew it off but my wife whos doing research for her next book insisted. Know something this stuff was great. Kind of like a milky creamy ice cream soda. We loved it! Worth the trip to the city just for this!
By far my favorite bubble tea Ive had in new york city! Ive been to the flushing location and the chinatown location was definitely more spacious. The taste is consistent and I definitely recommend trying at least once so you know if its for you! I had the impression that the brown sugar milk tea would be too sweet and saturated, but it doesnt taste dangerously sweet, and its the perfect dessert after lunch or dinner!
Lucked out as the line wasnt out the door when I stopped by. They only have one type of bubble tea, but its because its sooo good. Im lactose, but this tea is totally worth it. The bubbles are a mix of regular and teeny, but arent super chewy like at most places. Would recommend.
Quite a disappointment. They don’t let you adjust ice level... in winter... and the bubbles were not so soft. Some of them are chewy and hard. I’ve had much better ones in China. Now my obsession with ts is gone because of this locationReply: You can adjust ice levels at Tiger Sugar in China, and the bubbles were much softer. Do you mean the recipe is the same for all American locations? North America locations? Or the ones I went to in China was not legally the same franchise? I will find out when I visit the one in Vancouver. Maybe Im not obsessed with the brand. Im obsessed with the ones I had in China.
The ultra trendy Tiger Sugar brings brown sugar boba from Taiwan to the streets of Chinatown and its incredible. The boba milk is sweet and creamy (using real milk instead of the milk substitute) with the piping hot boba covered in warm and sweet brown sugar. Together they create a unique bliss of hot and cold, although its suggested to to shake it a few times to mix it all up.Be warned, lines can reach over 30 minutes during peak hours. Other locations are in Flushing and Brooklyn Chinatown (with equally long waits).
Wow! This place is amazing. The storefront is very subtle so its not as easy to find.As is the case with most places, there is no social distancing. Just be safe by wearing your mask(s) and using sanitizer. There is an electronic thermometer available oh, but they do not mandate using it nor request vaccination cards. Most people seemed to be getting their drinks to go so not too crowded.I used the computer to place my order, seamless process. The drinks were a decent price, came out to about $12,for the two drinks. They do accept credit cards which is always a plus! The beverages loook just like they do in the pictures, which isnt always the case for some places.I definitely cant wait to return and try other drinks.
The bubble tea itself is delicious, don’t get me wrong. But the quantity you get for $6 is measly considering it is a small glass and they fill it up with ice. Only about 25-30% of the volume is the actual bubble tea. And no you can’t adjust ice, it is a standard recipe with no adjustments for sugar or ice. Hence the two stars. I’d rather they charge a couple of bucks more but give me more of the drink. At least I would not be disappointed in it not lasting beyond three drags. I had high hopes, they delivered on taste and failed on value.
Bubble tea is delicious here. however, staff isn’t too friendly and the drink sizes are too small and there is only one size. They also put so much ice in the drink, you can barely drink any of it and there is no way to ask for light ice because they do not allow you to customize your ice level. Same thing with the sugar, you are not allowed to ask for more or less sugar. Drinks should be able to be customized.I expect more from this place.
The brown sugar milk tea signature is incredible! It looks like it’s gonna be super sweet, but it’s actually perfect amount of sweetness. I’m not a sweet tooth so this was a perfect drink for me! The bubbles are different sizes which I loved as well. They put tiny ones and normal sized ones which adds texture to the drink! The bubbles are also the right amount of softness and chewiness.
Very delicious! The bubble they use is smaller than usual so I was a little unsure if I should chew a little bit or swallow directly haha. The self-order machine is not printing receipt when is my turn so I didn’t get it but it was not rush hour so I still get my drink easily.
The line here is always long but the wait is worth it. To help cut down on the line you can order through a qr code or order at the kiosk.I ordered the brown sugar expresso with cream and it was really good. I feel like the Boba was dipped in expresso and I could still get shots of coffee after my drink was finished. I hope they keep this flavor permanently.
The tea itself is tasty. My rating comes from the fact that they cannot take the boba or ice out of drinks and for as small as the cups are they are pricey! For $7+ a drink its 1/3 cup boba balls, over 1/3 cup ice and a palace of the drink on top. Overall Im disappointed.
I got the #2: brown sugar milk tea with boba, pearl, tiger jelly, and cream mousse. Its overly sweet and didnt offer any options to reduce the amount of sugar. Other than that, I really enjoy the textures.Overall: decent boba that leans on the sweet side, good texture, but the store needs more flavor options and customization.
You know that one lactose intolerant person who drinks milk anyways? That’s me, and I regret nothing. Tiger Sugar is a truly S Tier boba experience. They specialize in brown sugar and it is absolutely fantastic! Their signature drink is a must-try and their boba pearls are always the perfect amount and texture. No one should go anywhere else for their boba.
This place is very prominent on Instagram and after going there, its not difficult to see why. Not only is the tea extremely photogenic, but its super delicious. I had a difficult time figuring out what to order because I wanted to try everything, but ended up going with the classic and was not disappointed.
Covid procedures are pretty good. Ordering is done on a screen. The drinks are passed through a window. All the employees wore masks. The signature drink itself is over hyped. Its just a different type of sugar. Mainly its just a typical bubble tea. Not worth the higher price
Tiger Sugar is immensely popular! The tiger stripes are unique and nuanced to every drink, but the bubbles / tea may not be as similarly ideal as you might think. The tea is very sweet and milky without layers of flavor—the bubbles may be slightly less chewy and runny. Overall however, amazing experience.
I loved the brown sugar bubble tea with chocolate malt powder, but was delicious! I like the contrast in the size of the bubbles. Would like to buy it in a bigger size and have the option to get less ice. The cup was half ice and I cant stand when places fix drinks like that.
Tiger Sugar definitely mean the hype. We came with 15 minutes till closing. It was fun smoothly. I got the brown sugar milk tea with pearls. It was so good. The Combination of mini and big pearls were perfect. It just had the right balance of textures and flavors. It wasnt to sweet, so no need to adjust sugar levels. Highly recommend, going to try for yourself
If you enjoy bubble tea with a fair amount of caramel, you will like tiger sugar. They specialize in taking the brown sugar and warming it up to the point that a caramelizes and then make the milk tea or milk with that sweet sticky caramel. I prefer the milk version as Im not sure what tea they use. They also serve the ice cream pops that have boba in it.
Tiger Sugar has really good boba drinks, but I don’t understand the hype. I’m a huge fan of brown sugar milk tea and this place makes them really well, but I wish there were at least a few milk tea options that aren’t brown sugar. I also wish there were seating. Definitely a must try at least once but not special enough to wait too long in line for or if you’re not a fan of brown sugar milk tea drinks!
Delicious beverages from Taiwan. Hard to decide from their menu what to get as everything looks so good, and they have lots of overlap. You can either pay by card(visa or mc only) and use their touch screen display, or pay cash at the counter and place your order there. The coffee jelly was a lovely addition to the drink as well.
We got the warm and iced brown sugar boba and both were very satisfying. The drinks are so tasty and quite addictive to drink. They actually taste quite a bit like an Indian sweet called sheer korma. The line was out the door but not too long, but the service was quite fast so it wasnt much of an issue. There is some seating / standing space inside with both walls having tables.. this was great when it was super cold outside and we could stay in and drink.
Hit or miss. The first time I had Tiger Sugar in Canal was a hit. It was tasty and perfect balance between creaminess and sweetness. Causing me to crave for another one, which brings me to the most recent purchase. Recently the visit was a miss. I clearly ask for no sugar in the black tea and milk drink. If the drink had no sugar, thus the drink will not be sweet. However, the drink was too sweet for me even to finish close to half.Other Tiger Sugar location has not yet to disappoint me.
Have been drinking from them since they first opened up and it is way better than Cocos bubble tea and the other black sugar bubble tea places. Their new tiger jelly is really good. The tapiocas are always made perfectly. I have yet to eat any uneven textures. hardness, or sogginess. Highly recommend going. If you purchase $11 or more, you can pay with your card.
The decor of Tiger Sugar is artsy and cozy. There is a kiosk for ordering and the wait wasn’t bad compared to the long line at their Flushing location. We had no.1 signature Brown Sugar Cafe Latte with Boba, Pearl & Cream Mouuse. The drink was delicious, creamy and rich. Our favorite was their boba, which was chewy and flavorful.
Very long wait but it was the most amazing boba tea Ive ever had! It was well worth the wait and honestly if i could, i would be a regular. It was a very tiny shop and offered little to no seating so there is a lot of standing and the line usually goes out the door. I would definitely go if you find yourself in chinatown!
Pretty lucky the line was not too long. It took me about 20 mins to order and get my drink.I really like the brown sugar taste, the balance with milk just perfect.I think so far this is the best brown sugar drink I had so far in NY. Worth to give a try! They also have another location at flushing and Bk!
When the the lines amassed at their Flushing location on social media, I was intrigued about what’s so special about plain old bubble tea. Long and behold on one thirsty night, I was in the neighborhood and so I decided to stop by to quench my thirst with something I haven’t gotten. I turned to the trusty google maps and searched for bubble tea and “Tiger Sugar” was placed number 1. We can all assume what happened next. I was disappointed, for $6 it’s not worth the hype. The bottom of the drink was hot and the rest was cold. It’s creamy and sweet but they fill up the cup to the rim with ice. Make sure you get it with light ice or they’ll fill it to the top. If anyone pays $6 for a cup of ice then you need to re-evaluate your money decision-making.
Long queue so I thought its supposed to be good. Waited for 10 min on the queue and the cashier told me I could not choose the ice level in my drink. So I ordered the standard one, boba milk tea plus cream. I wasnt sure if I was able to select the sugar level but the cashier didnt offer. Anyway, waited for 7 mins for them to make my drink. It came out to be super over sweet and nothing special about it for 6 bucks. Also, if you were saying you cannot allow your customers to select what they prefer in their drinks because of whatever ingredients proportion you have excuses, I dont see why I would go back as theres plenty of other options out there.
The milk tea had a very creamy taste, almost like cheesecake! The first time I ordered the brown sugar boba milk tea, they did not allow ice or sweetness adjustment and that was disappointing. The next time I ordered the black tea latte and they allowed adjustment. Im not sure if it was because of the drink or if their baristas are trained inconsistently. Drinks were great but one star dropped for inconsistency in the adjustment allowance.
Had very high hopes for Tiger Sugar as it’s quite popular, which I now realize may be based not on taste, but rather just being well known. The boba is not good, and another reviewer referred to the tea as sugar milk and I think that is an apt description.Boba Guys and Xing Fu Tang blow this place out the water, I have yet to try Yi Fang tea but have high hopes for it as well.
Reviewstiger sugarTiger SugarTiger SugarBubble Tea197 Canal StNew York, NY 100135.0 star rating10/9/20192 check-insI went here twice on separate weekdays. The first time, there was no line, but the second time, there was a line. The wait was about less than 5 minutes in line to get to the counter and then maybe 10-15 minutes for the drinks. The interior is similar to the one in Brooklyn, except this branch is much larger. In the first order, I ordered the black tea latte with cream mousse and pearls (the smaller version of boba). I really liked it and was surprised that I liked it because I did not like the brown sugar milk drink. However, I feel like I drank up a lot of the pearls on my first sip because I had forgotten that the pearls are significantly smaller than the large boba straw opening (to be honest, I almost choked) and I feel like a normal straw is better for the pearls, but I understand the reasoning behind the fact that they only offer one straw size. The second time I came here with some friends. We ordered the black tea latte with cream mousse with pearls and boba and the green tea latte with pearls and boba. Having a mix of small and normal sized boba is a real game changer! I really liked the different texture and chew. I highly recommend adding both to your drink, but if you can only choose one, I would suggest the pearls! Overall, I really like the pearls from Tiger Sugar.
Great, high quality boba. Hype has died down so lines arent as long anymore but the quality has remained consistently high. Still my favorite boba in NYC. This store tends to run out of boba (the larger tapioca balls) and only have pearls (smaller balls) so come early to avoid that!
Really a hit or miss. Most of the miss is due to the inconsistency of the boba texture. The boba was cooked well during my first visit but this is my second visit and the center of the boba is very hard. The flavor has been consistent though. Monitor the cooking time for the boba and theyd probably do better.
Poor customer service. After a 20 min. wait to pay for the drink at 3pm on Friday, we had to wait an extra 30 minute for 19 people before finding out they skip and gave 3 drinks away to a take out order. When we found out they skipped the numbers, I spoke to the lady politely who gave out drinks that the 3 of us were skipped. The lady with glasses who handed out the drink only apologized to the handsome young man 3x who didnt talked to her. The rest of us didnt get an apology at all. We had to wait another 15 minutes for our drink without any mention of what happened to our order while they hand the drinks to the other customers after us. Super disappointed. Please Please train your staffs properly!

2022-02-20Ordered the signature #1 and I have to say it was a delightful boba experience. Just a warning: they go ALL IN on the sugar and ice, so I’d recommend asking for a smaller percentage of both or you’ll end up with a sugar bomb. Sometimes there are lines, sometimes none at all, so plan ahead your visit!

2022-05-29Delicious black sugar milk with boba + pearl and cream. They don’t upcharge for soy milk substitute which is appreciated. Not overly sweet but a perfect combination with a deep black sugar taste. Quick to order via machine and food came out very quickly.

2022-07-21I ordered their signature brown sugar boba and its very good! It looks very appealing, but my only complaint is that their tapioca balls are mostly too small and vary in sizes.

2022-07-09We had 2 signature drinks, we loved their flavor! There were a couple of downsides though: the pearls were getting stuck in the straw so we had to suck really hard at them to unclog the straw, and at the bottom of the drink, we could only taste milk and that wasn’t too good. In fact we threw the last few sips because they didn’t taste good. Otherwise it was really good.

2022-02-06Year of the tiger. Only fitting for a tiger sugar bubble tea. Got number 4 on the menu. Really get the bubble tea mix with the creamy coffee.

2022-03-05Got the #2, found it to be quite good. Definitely different from most boba places (much creamier). The boba & jelly are the perfect size, creates a really good texture

2022-07-08Bought the signature brown sugar milk tea.love their pearl, soft and light chewy, some are regular size, some are tiny. The brown sugar has light caramel taste, love it. I dont like the milk, not fresh milk, but it is fair for $6.

2022-06-21Had to wait 40 min for two boba, and it was nothing life-changing. I got the original brown sugar boba with soy milk and the matcha boba. They were pretty decent and I liked that it wasn’t overly sweet. There are two order methods: at the cashier or through a tablet. I recommend the cashier because there was a long line for the tablet and because of that, it took longer for those who ordered through the tablet to get their boba.

2021-10-07I’ve heard Tiger Sugar before but never had a chance to try it! Finally got to try while I was in New York! It was excellent! Again this location is for takeout only so there’s no tables and chairs!

2022-08-06Love love loved our Bobas! So tasty. Super quick service. Found out about this place in TikTok from saint_travels. We have never been to NYC before and my brother sent me the video because we are boba lovers. BEST. BOBA. EVER. 5 stars.
