I never got a chance to eat there. I went for lunch, stood at the kitchen window with the sign Order Here for several minutes, while two surly looking people were moving about in there making sandwiches, completely ignoring me. So I walked out. I believe a couple behind me who first went to the small indoor seating area to the right for a while, were ignored there, then came and waited behind me for a while, I saw them leaving behind me.
My friend and I stopped by there for lunch today. The girls were nice enough, but the sandwiches were definitely not worth $10.50 each. I had the Reuben and he had some roastbeef something or other. They were more like $5 sandwiches I would make at home. They skimped on the meat pretty badly. To top it off, we both had repeated bathroom trips when we returned to our homes. I dont think well be returning anytime soon. Sorry, but you lose. 👎
My wife and I live a half hour away and we try to frequent Timberline whenever we venture into Speculator. Their homemade food is delicious... In fact I cant recall ever having a bad meal here. The owners are polite and welcoming and the atmosphere is what Id imagine a rustic cafe to be, cozy and personal. If you are in the area you must stop by for lunch, or at the very least a treat from the bakery!
The food was excellent. And they have an extensive selection of drinks, including Vietnamese iced coffee, which was delicious. The sandwiches we had were all excellent. I am giving this five stars thinking in terms of what I would expect from a place in a major city like NYC or Chicago, and not just here in ADK.
Their board sandwiches sound interesting, but in practice arent that great. I had a roast beef with horseradish, cheese, and mushrooms, it was disappointing. My girlfriend had some sandwich with turkey and a mango chutney - it just seemed like they were trying too hard. Id been in the past and got a normal sandwich which was good, but this last time left me hungry and disappointed.
Went with a family of 7. Very friendly staff. Food wasnt the best but it didnt take long to get. My Reuben was great but also overpriced.Limited seating inside and none inside for a group larger than 4.We made the mistake if going at what must have been a prime time but there was only one okay getting drinks for around 30 people. Felt bad for her but she started friendly the whole time.
I was waiting at the counter for over 10 minutes they completely disregarded me the entire time.... meanwhile people would walk up beside me and they would ask them what they wanted and within one minute they would get there drinks... I got so fed up with them I sat down and started eating my food... now my food was cold and I got French toast that doesnt taste good at all for the prices, and the bacon was burnt. No once did they ask me for what I wanted.
The Timberline is my go to place in Speculator. I start my morning right with a delicious breakfast sandwich the Kunjamuk (named after a local river) and exquisite breakfast coffee from Seattles Best or a fine crafted latte. The staff is wonderfully nice and always interested in your days plan for adventure. No trip to Speculator is complete without a trip to the Timberline.
This absolute goddess of a baker (metaphorically) saved my life with a raspberry-almond scone. Though they were not open (this reviewer a privileged city white woman trying the door at 3:30, assuming hours of convenience), the divine woman opens the door for two field-exhausted scientists in need of a carbohydrate-fix. Rather than leave us to the fate of ice cream of questionable quality, she allowed us to walk over her just-mopped for and exchange money for pastries. This cafe and bakery deserves all of the patronage.
Food was ok. No great shakes. But not expensive for being at the end of nowhere.Apparently taxes were randomly assigned. $1.50 + tax 1.79. $2.00+tax... 2.70. uh... Nope. Not a world ender, per person. Disgusting when adding it across the days sales. Dont know where their failure is, but its illegal and fraudulent in practice regardless of the cause. Fix it. Ill try to find he proper state/county organization to help.

2021-07-30Cute bakery and cafe located near lake Pleasant along the Adirondack trail route. Stooped there for lunch on our drive from Burlington, VT to Rochester, NY.Uniquely crafted sandwiches and homemade baked goods, complimented by fresh made beverages. The staff was warm and welcoming. It was the perfect lunch stop along our travels.

2020-07-26It is just ok considering that there were one of two open places serving food in that area. Woman was kind of rude and impatience. I think they do not welcome people with foreign accents. Well, this is a touristic destination so foreign should be welcome here! Or it is just for locals and nationals? Sandwich was excelente. We asked for the ciabtra sandwich with ham, eggs and vinaigrette red onion. Coffee deserve 5 starts!

2021-07-18It was pouring rain outside and my grandson and I went here. The women taking the order was very curt with us. I informed her that we have never been in her restaurant before and to give us a minute to check out the menu. I asked for my egg over well and she said that it might not be....then I ordered 4 coffees and she just pointed....I looked and saw a coffee station further down. When that was done she handed me a stick with the number 1 on it to show the waitstaff further down when getting my order. The strange thing was....THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE THERE. I can spend my money anywhere....I would think twice about going there. I found out the donut place by Charlie Johns makes the best egg, ham and cheese on an english muffin for $3 less then this place. Out of my grandsons mouth. these are better than that other place.

2018-09-01Trendy coffee house for young people to come and hang out. They have a good food menu selection as well.

2018-07-01Tasty breakfast place. Food pricing is very reasonable. Some of the fancier drinks get a little pricy, but the food value outweighs this. Plenty of outdoor seating, but cramped indoor seating, even on off peak times. I had French Toast.

2021-09-17Great fresh food all prepared on site. Enjoyed an open face meatloaf sandwich (The Mountain View) that had incredibly complex and delicious flavors. Must visit
