Went on a weekday and saw a shoe that I liked. They said this shoe just came in today and we have all the sizes available.I tried 41 and it was small so I asked for 42. They said the shoes are still in boxes but come back tomorrow and we will have it ready for you. I went back the next day and they tell me they don’t have 42. They just have 41 and 43. I was irritated but wanted to try 43. They go in the back and come back to tell me they don’t have 43 either.Very unprofessionally managed.
So, my future brother in law, from Massachusetts’s spent $728 on shoes and inserts. He went back to Mass and the inserts really hurt his feet. He asked me to return them. He wore them once and had to take them out to get through the day. He asked me to return them. They refused. A very unpleasant, obnoxious woman who refused to give me her name said that they were worn. She offered a partial store credit. He is moving to Colorado. He has no use for store credit. I do t want it because of the really bad experience with this woman. Overall, it was not the money. I will stick with all my purchases through Amazon. This woman should be fired on the spot.So the owner was within earshot. He was too cowardly to come out and assist. Instead I had to wait for the woman who wouldn’t give me her name, to wait on customers and try to do 2 things at once. Obviously the decision to lose many future customers was the owner’s The response was a waste of time and should show people that dealing with Amazon, Target, Costco and Walmart is so much more pleasurable and cheaper than dealing with Ma and Pop stores that really don’t care one bit about customer service. Like I indicated, it wasn’t the money. And he also lied. I was told that I would get a partial store credit. Since I was not the purchaser and the purchaser is in Massachusetts’s and heading to live in Colorado on the 20th, it does him no good. Overall, left a bad taste for a few dollars.
I bought two pairs of shoes during my visit. The sales were fine. As to the shoe associates, most showed interest in doing their job, others not so much, so how positive and enjoyable your experience will be depends on who assists you. I was pretty much a self advocate until a little competition ensued between two associates which, happily, led to me receiving a little more TLC. I would recommend that the female associates dress up a little more so as to project a more professional and confidence-inspiring demeanor.
Very unprofessional!!On 10/11/2021 I went into the store to buy a pair blundstone boots, the store did not have the color I wanted, so they proceeded to order them for me. fast forward 11/6/2021 Almost 4 weeks later I walked into the store, NO BOOTS AND NO EXPLANATION. I immediately cancelled the order, now I’m hoping it doesn’t take another 20 BUSINESS DAY FOR ME TO GET THE MONEY BACK IN MY CARD.Harold Dominicci, sales clerk was very friendly and professional THANK YOU!! for your help.
I searched everywhere online for a certain pair of Birkenstock sandals in a certain color and size and Tip Top Shoes was the only place that had what I was looking for!!! The sent them out quickly and I am very satisfied with my purchase and their overall customer service! Great company!
My podiatrist recommended Tip Top Shoes to me. She said that the service was excellent. She was absolutely right. They provide great service and have a broad selection.I was at Macys last weekend as my husband shopped for shoes. The contrast could not be greater. Macys was a chaotic environment with no clear person responsible for assisting us. At Tip Top, on the other hand, I had a very knowledgeable salesperson who assisted me throughout the visit. He made an excellent recommendation and I walked away with a new pair of shoes.Ill definitely visit them first for my next pair.
Great shoe store in the neighborhood. We went a couple of month ago to look for some hiking boots for a trip. JC was very helpful but unfortunately the stock wasnt great since a lot of manufacturers had shut down during the pandemic. He shows us some options but we didnt love them and he didnt make us feel pressured at all. I went back today to look for some running shoes and the selection has been fully replenished. JC got me into a great pair that Im happy with. Very knowledgeable guy and very attentive and helpful. From now on when I need a new pair for whatever reason Ill be coming to him first.
The selection is very good, but every time Ive had to return a shoe that I received as a gift for a different size, they always upsell me. Also a gift that was purchased with a discount, they refused to transfer the discount to the new shoe. The difference between the two shoes at regular price is $30. Because they refused to transfer the discount, I ended up paying $70, even though they were getting a shoe that they would resell at the full price. The manager, Hank was very dismissive and ran off upstairs where there are no customers. I felt that he just didnt want to provide any service or consideration. Their refund policy is very restrictive and I will never shop there again.
When I arrive in NYC my first stop is Tip Top! They have a fabulous selection and their shoe sales people are the best. The last time I was in Melvin happily brought me box after box of shoes. He suggested the right shoes for my kind of feet, and he knew what he was talking about! The Tip Top sales people are trained! I bought four pair the last time I was in. Every pair of shoes I have have bought at Tip Top have been worth every penny! I live 400 miles from the store but its my favorite place to buy shoes!
This is a great place particularly if you have any kind of problems with your feet or even just have wide feet. I worked with Harold Dominicci!. He is amazing. He listened to what kinds of shoes I wanted, the challenges I have been having finding shoes that fit - my very wide, smallish feet with a high arch. He brought out multiple styles in the types of shoes I was looking for and was so patience and supportive as I tried them all. I left with shoes that not only fit my feet but give me the support I need to walk all day. I will definitely go back in the fall for help finding good winter shoes. IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE WITH YOUR FEET AND NEED NEW SHOES GO SEE HAROLD DOMINICCI! Hes also really friendly and sweet. Hes a true old school footwear expert!
I recently tried to break the Tip Top Shoe store habit with yet another purchase from Amazon. Not worth the experience. This is not a review of Amazon shoes. If it was, at least three stars would disappear. Tip Top is everything that the Internet, specifically Amazon, is not.Tip Top has well trained sales and store help and an incredible inventory of the latest styles of mens and womens shoes and casual footwear. They are and have been a valued UWS resource for as long as I can remember. Amazon gives quick almost-satisfaction, but Tip Top gives instant satisfaction and always treats you like their only customer.If you want to shop the old-fashioned way dealing with trained experienced salespeople and management, up-front that made me feel as if I was their only customer. If you live convenient to West 72nd St and need or want another pair of shoes, you cant do better than Tip Top.
Just be careful of the up sale products they try to force on you. Had a salesmen sell me some shoe inserts for 30 bucks. Said they would outlast my shoes. 3 months later they are falling apart in chunks. Called them up and they said to come down and lets take a look at them. When I get to the store some older gentlemen stops me at the door and starts drilling me about do I have a receipt so on and so forth, says theres nothing they can do. Didnt even want to take a look at them. A store that doesnt stand behind what they sell is a dead store in my opinion. Ill stick to Amazon thank you very much, where they at least will immediately refund any defective merchandise with little to no hassle. Shame on you tip top no top shoes!!!
The store has a great selection of good for your feet shoes that look attractive. However, we were seeking a quick fix for achy museum feet. The salesman directed us to some great, inexpensive orthotics and got them into our shoes. Problem solved without breaking the budgetSo highest recommend for knowledgeable and nice.
Went to this store to get fitted for a pair of super feet . Met a salesman named Melvin who fitted me for a pair of orthotics that were actually a bit less expensive and much more effective. He was extremely knowledgeable and nice to do business with, I recently came back for some orthotics for my dress shoes and got the same classy treatment. As long as Melvin is they’re I’ll be doing business with them from now on
I bought from Tip Top for years: I like the range of shoes they carry and some of their salesmen (yes, always men) are quite good. But, based on my recent experience, I will never buy there again. I bought three pair of shoes for about $900+ and subsequently decided to return one pair. It was within a month but outside their five day return policy so I could only get a store credit. I think this is outrageous...and frankly, stupid. Why anger a customer that pays $900 at a time for shoes simply so you can hold on to their cash? I prefer to use stores that are more customer oriented and show it with reasonable return policies.
Check pricing before you buy on line.Sonia was great in getting me the shoes quickly but when I asked for price match for Mothers day sale elsewhere, she would not do it. She did say that she will give me the $10.00 difference from the competitors regular price. At least this will help a little with shipping.I will be sending one of the 2 pairs back since I found locally and the store gave me the same price as the on line discounted retailer! Ive bought several pairs of shoes here and ten salespeople and cashiers have always been knowledgeable and helpful. Theyre professionals and dont need to act like your bff to get you a nice pair of shoes (and socks, in my case)High quality shoes and the warmest socks Ive ever worn. I really like this store and will definitely be back for more!
For my first experience in this store, I am definitely dissapointed to be treated the way I was by sales rep Melvin. A message to owner/manager, It may seem you need to review the idea of commission to sales associates since it causes associates to be aggressive with potential costumers
I stopped into this store on a whim because I saw they sold Naots as I was passing by. I wear a European size 43 and many stores (even online) dont carry that size. The salesman, Melvin, was extremely helpful. He measured my feet, assessed my gait, and listened to the problems that I have with my feet. Then, he explained why Ive been having some of the foot pain that I have and suggested several pairs of shoes to try. He even showed me how to put heel pads and additional arch support under the footbeds of the shoes that I already owned to make them better for my feet. He was so helpful, that I did feel a little bit obligated to buy a pair of shoes from him (thats the job of a salesman, right?), but I ended up returning them the next day because I live out of town and they only have a 10 day return window; for such a large investment, I just needed more time to be sure that the shoes were going to work for me in the long run. If you have difficulty finding shoes that fit or have any kind of foot problem, I definitely recommend stopping by this store and seeing how their salesmen (especially Melvin) might be able to help you!
I placed an online order using Paypal because its easier to do that than to plug in my card # manually. Unfortunately the shoes didnt fit me so I had to return it but when I tried to return the shoes in person on a Saturday, I was told the system was down and that IT wasnt available until Monday. I called back on Monday, asking to confirm that the refund was processed but was told that for some reason they were having trouble processing refunds for Paypal transactions. I contacted Paypal and was told that Paypal does not refuse refund requests from vendors. So I opened a charge dispute so that I dont have to pay for something Id already returned. When I contacted the store again to ask if they can address the Paypal claim and not drag it out to next month (after the time period set for vendor response), I was transferred to voicemail. Ive already seen another complaint on here involving a Paypal transaction and was told by the stores that Paypal transaction refunds are problematic. If theyre that difficult to process, maybe dont offer that as a payment option and then make customers go through refund purgatory.
My gait changed after I had total knee replacement on one knee. It took me a while to realize what happened, and that I needed new walking shoes very soon after a recent purchase. I explained this to the salesperson and he immediately knew how to help me, fitting me with shoes that gave me more support (but no more weight) than my old pair. I am once again a happy walker thanks to the expert service at TipTop!
I hate buying shoes and used to always end up with something cute but painful that would fall apart in a few months to a year. Luckily this store has a ton of knowledgeable sales folks. Melvin got me sorted out right quick and showed me a ton of shoes that didnt kill my feet. I went in for new sneakers and ended up buying some boots and walking shoes too. Mercedes was excellent in helping me try different shoes. But I had been online before going to store and had already chosen ECCO.It turned out to be the best fit and excellent support. I had three pairs of ECCO’s in the past. I used to go the Harry but now it’s TIP TOP all the way......Maggie Allen. NYC
Bought New Balance 928v3 from TIP TOP. Cost was $129. I need supportive shoes due to injury. Left shoe developed a split just above the sole, in the upper, near my big toe. Shoes were 2 1/2 months old and already worn so I was stuck. Shoes were probably new but factory seconds. Be careful who you buy from
I have visited this store many times and purchased all of my shoes there. With wide feet I find it difficult to find comfortable walking shoes. Every time I have been fitted with shoes that feel like they were made for me and which I wore for the rest of my trip. My feet thank you.
Garbage company. Horrible customer service. Long story short, i bought a pair of birkenstock clogs on amazon that was fulfilled by tip top shoes. Within 2 months they ripped. I attempted to contact tip top shoes through the “contact us” feature on their website to find out if birkenstock would warranty them. I received no response. After 10 days or so i tried again. No response. Gave it another 10 days or so and tried one more time, this time through their email address. Guess what? No response! I wasn’t trying to insist that they replace the shoes, I was simply looking for an answer. They could have told me to pound sand and I would have been satisfied but to not dignify me with a response after 3 attempts to contact them is completely unacceptable. I will not do business with them again.
All I can say is that Melvin IS THE MAN!! I came in with my patient who needed a pair of sandals, and immediately we were referred to Melvin for his expertise. Melvin knows his stuff!! He worked with my patient. he was patient and understanding. He listened to her wants/needs and her likesand dislikes. He was very respectful. I will definitely recommend this store and I highly recommend Melvin!!
No pressure sales. Was vacationing from out of town. Wife saw the window display and wanted to look. We both ended up with shoes. She got the ón brand running shoes and I got Danner boots. Sales people and cashiers were helpful and patient. Happy to support a local store.
Shoe size was not available so ordered through the store. Waited more than 3 wks to find out it was out of stock. During this 3 wks, my calls were received with agitation beyond nyc attitude. You may not have the same experience, but mine was horrible. Spare your time and go somewhere where they are happy and efficient ;)
I have visited this store during both of my visits from Australia. With wide feet I find it difficult to find comfortable walking shoes. Both times I have been fitted with shoes that feel like they were made for me and which I wore for the rest of my trip. My feet thank you.
I have been shopping at Tip Top for twenty-two years. Quality shoes, and excellent customer service. This is a STORE not a website specializing in next day delivery. You visit, you shop, you ask questions, you get measured, face to face. Complaining that ordering something they dont have in stock and having to wait for delivery is just unfair.
I love this store! Ive shopped there for years. They have a great selection, and Harold Domenici is a wonderful salesman. He understands feet and knows the stores inventory very, very well. He has taken great care of me many times. Highly recommend Tip Top and Harold!
I ordered shoes from them online, they didn’t have the size I wanted emailed me said I would receive a refund which is fine. 3 weeks later I have to open a case with PayPal because they refuse to answer the calls when I have called multiple times about the issue. Thank god paypal can refund me but I still have to wait for 10 days. Ridiculous. Make sure you use PayPal if you order from the website.
Buyer beware. Purchased on Amazon and Tip Top was the fulfillment house. You must pay to return your item. Im sure it was in the fine print somewhere but I had made a similar purchase and it was fulfilled from another store that had free shipping and returns, so I didnt notice this stores policy until I started the return process.
Horrible service. Im shocked what my favorite store has become. Personnel lazy and rude. One was sitting in the chair refusing to get up, and the second preferred to clean his shoes instead of helping. I was surprised that no customers, bit after this kind of encounter I understand why.
It used to be great and the service was great, but then one day one of the people who helps you commented on my body and essentially said I looked fat. I was shocked and really upset because they usually have such great service. I will not be going back because body shaming is NEVER okay.
In case you dont enjoy rummaging through boxes of shoes trying to find a fit at a discount store or enjoy returning uncomfortable shoes you purchased on line, and in case you expect a store to offer a selection of quality, wearable shoes at all price ranges and for all occasions, and finally, on the chance that you expect someone selling shoes actually to know something useful about fit and features, then Tip Top is the store for you. Ive been shopping there for years. I can find stuff that I like and know will fit and I have what must be known in the trade as difficult feet, right and left are different sizes, and both are wide and basically archless (I like Allen Edmonds for business and dress, Merrell and Timberland for casual) but my appreciation of Tip Top goes beyond selection. There are actually people there who know shoes and feet and can give useful advice. But there are also people there who go above and beyond. Im thinking of a recent visit to get some boots for my wife; it was a not untypically crowded day and she was getting good but I would call it hasty service, including watching the last pair of a particular boot that fit her being sold to someone else when she turned away. Alll of a suddent a most remarkable man stepped in and found what she needed -- his name was Harold Dominicci. He rescued her, found exactly what she was looking for, and did it without any hey-arent-I-special bravura. He just plain helped her and was incredibly nice and patient and efficient doing so. Even if Tip Top left a lot to be desired, I would go back because of Harold. He knows what hes doing and he could give a Master Class in Sales, even to some of the really good people in his own store. He was kind, attentive, knowledgeable; the best of the best. Good going, Tip Top. Youve earned your name.
I walked in looking to purchase a couple new pairs of shoes and while handling a Merrell hiking boot I was approached by a gentlemen who then proclaims That was the boot worn by the Marines during the invasion of Iraq! Well, I immediately corrected this ass clown as I am a U.S. Army Infantry veteran of the Iraq War (served from 2002-2010). No the Marines did not wear Merrel GTX hiking boots, Sir. I have never been so offended in my life while attempting to buy a pair of shoes. Fellow veterans avoid this place like the Plague. There is nothing like lying about veterans, their footwear, and war to sell boots. The best part, the guy immediately blames the Merrel Sales Rep and says its his fault. Be accountable for your actions Sir, and face it, you are a moron and you should be immediately fired. I question the stores overall, and owners, integrity and judgement.
Horrible, inexplicable customer service! Placed an online order, received a transaction receipt via email for the order, then waited 10 days for a shipment that was supposed to take 4-6 days. When I called to inquire about the delay they claimed they never got my order - even though I had an email receipt from them showing Id been billed for the order. No explanation and no apology.

2022-05-20We were visiting NYC and needed some new sneakers because there was a lot of walking to be done. When we walked in to the store we were greeted by the happiest, kindest salesperson Harold. He kept us laughing the whole time we were there. He did not push us as sales people tend to do. He treated us with care and my husband and I just enjoyed the experience so much. Oh and we love our shoes! We walked 11,000+ steps for 5 days straight. You all have an awesome employee in Harold. Excellent customer service!

2022-03-12Excellent shoe store, excellent customer service. I loved the fact that the moment I walked in the store I was greeted by a salesman who politely asked if he could assist me. I have not had that sort of experience in many years when shopping for shoes. I needed new comfortable shoes for my doorman job and am happy to say I got exactly what I needed. Julio, the salesman who assisted me was amazing. I plan to go back to Tip Top Shoes very soon.

2022-06-04It’s very difficult to motivate me to give a 1-star review, but congrats! One employee was rude, arrogant and dismissive when my wife came in asking for assistance in finding footwear options. It’s often difficult for her to find ones that work for her complex orthopedic needs. He lacks the knowledge, patience, desire and/or professionalism to do the one job that he gets paid to do. He is clearly in the wrong line of work. I walk by this store 5 days a week and I am both a personal trainer and an athlete. Your loss.

2021-11-05LOVE this store and amazing service got with Harold. I have gone here on several occasions in the past ten years and went in today looking for boots and shoes that could wear under skirt. Also, the (expensive) shoes I wore into the store (purchased years ago at Tip Top shoes) needed to be partially re-soled as heel worn. Harold told me the cobbler down the street was excellent. As I was short on time, Harold took my shoes to the cobbler to be fixed while I was shopping in the store (barefoot) and then got them for me (as good as new). I ended up finding boots and shoes that fit the mark both in style and comfort.

2021-08-09I needed a pair of dress shoes. I havent bought a pair in over 12yrs. Based on google reviews i decided to give Tip Top a try. As soon as i walked in I was greeted by the salesperson Harold. I told him I needed a nice pair of black dress shoes. He brought out two different brands and the first one was a winner. I felt like I walked back into a shoe store from the 1960s. From the warm greeting hello to the excellent sales experience I would recommend Harold and tip top shoes!!

2021-08-03I had a great experience purchasing from Tip Top Shoes online. I needed to exchange the shoes I purchased for a larger size. When I called, the excellent customer service agent took care of everything and got my replacement shoes out the same day (I called at 4:00 PM) and they arrived the following day.I am incredibly impressed and will always give this company the first shot whenever I purchase shoes.
