Been living in islip for quite some time wish I knew about this place a little bit sooner. Had an amazing experience dealing with Eric. Had new white wall tires mounted and balanced for my old Cadillac, Eric made sure to find me exactly what I was looking for and took care of me extremely professionally. Seeing what some of the other customers where acting like made me feel as if he was not getting paid enough. As for Tommy he operated just as professional as Eric. Made sure not only to take care of me but who ever else needed help. For the two mechanics Justin and Anthony that I had spoke to after the tires where put back on the same can he said about them. Very respectful and professional mechanics both doing great work. Very happy with me experience!!!
Made an appointment on Friday to have all 4 tires on my car replaced. I called the shop before I headed over and they had me reschedule for Saturday morning. Not a problem. So I dropped the car off on Saturday morning and told me my car would be ready before 3 in the afternoon. So I call around 3 and said that it would be ready at 4:30. Still not a problem as long as it’s getting done. I called at 4:30 and they told me they were to able to get to it… Seriously? I rescheduled on a time that would work for them and they still couldn’t get it done? Absolutely just wasted my time…
Repeated trips to get a tire plugged. Dont tell me you can do it at a certain time to then send me away. Repeatedly, no less. I understand being busy and wanting to do more lucrative business in your 3 empty bays, but just flat out say you cant do it. And dont tell me to come back at various times to be turned away again.
I recently came for an oil change for my Pontiac Firebird and I was surprised by how quick and cheap it came out to be. The Firestone shop down the road from there wanted 90 for a synthetic oil change while the Mavis on main street wanted 75. The Mavis on sunrise highway came out to a total of only 45 dollars. On top of that, they use top brand oil and filters for their customers. The man who helped me named Douglas was so kind and attentive as well. from my own personal experience I definitely recommend this place to anyone with car troubles.
I CANNOT say enough how perfect my experiences have always been with this company. There are two locations near me and I have NEVER been treated so professionally and considerately. I had one of worst experience anyone can have, a tire blow out in the rain on the way to work. I highly highly recommend this company and always will.
After 6 months and 8 tires replaced I finally went to a shop referred to me by a family friend who said all I needed was a camber alignment and I wouldn’t have to get new tires put on every month. Not to mention I’d make an appointment at 11am and my car wouldn’t even be taken in until 3-4pm. This is so beyond ridiculous. Thousands of dollars and hours of my time spent at this god damn place when it all could’ve been avoided by a $100 alignment. Do not waste your time or money here and find a more reputable place that cares about you and your car, not your money.
Another great service for my car from the awesome crew @ Mavis Tire-Bay Shore, NY. Store Manager Tommy runs a tight ship there and he always gives me the honest assessment of the service I need along with the best price!They are my go-to local mechanic shop for everything I need...tires to oil changes! A+++
Just go to the on West Maine St in Bay Shore. This one is unreliable and unorganized. I spoke to somone on the phone he told me to bring it in the next day. I went to drop it off just for someone to tell me the guy that does that isnt it today. Why is only one person trained to do a specific job? And why did someone else tell me hed be in. Ridiculous and Douglas needs to improve his customer service.
Unreal what kind of rip off there people can be.. i was getting 2 tires replaced and decided to get a inspection done here for convenience, even though I am aware of the reputation.. they come to me and start telling me I need this and that and it will cost me a few hundred more. They told me that I needed a belt which was perfecty fine. I was told that they wont pass the visual inspection without replacing it. I was not going to just be upsold for the sake of it. I refused. My regular mechanic (who I should of went to) looked at the car and confirmed it was fine. And when I said no they still charged me for the inspection The mechanic who was working on the car was still doing the inspection.. i said to him to close the car up and lets go.. he started cursing at me and ranting and raving. He got in my face. The manager then pulled me aside and said you wont have a issue with him.. you now have a issue with me in a very threatening tone it turned out to a big scene..last I checked I was still the customer. One of the worst experiences I have had in a long time.All this place does it try to tack on services to drive a average ticket price up. My advice is to stay away from this and ones like. Bring it to a mechanic who does not work on a commission type system. I also ordered the tires I was getting in advance. When I got there they told me the price was not the price that there was fees and such that you dont see on the website.. WHY NOT...... BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!
I dealt with Eric. I never leave reviews, but in this case I had to. This guy is straight up and honest and quoted me over $500 cheaper than a place literally right down the street. Good people and good service which is rare for any place having to do with car repair. I highly recommend this place.
If I could give ZERO stars I would. I sent my daughter who looks like she is 20 to this place in Bay Shore. The experience was awful. The desk person was unprofessional and yelled at her because the reservation we made did not have all of the extra fees (who knew?) MAVIS charges on it. I could hear him in the background saying and you dont have THAT fee on your paper to boot ! We reserved the tires 4 NEW TIRES on Amazon, to have installed on her car at The Bay Shore location on 9/23/20. I sent her with cash after I had calculated the fees and taxes that I was aware of. I had no choice but to work as I continue working from home due to the pandemic and their schedule and my schedule did not work out. Ultimately the tires were purchased and mounted- BUT NOT BALANCED!! WHO DOES THAT??? WHO ELSE IS GOING TO BALANCE 4 NEW TIRES BUT THE BUSINESS WHERE THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED AND MOUNTED? NAUSEATING CUSTOMER SERVICE. We were charged $448 in total (including $14.99 which is supposed to be for Mount and HIGH SPEED COMPUTER BALANCING ) for 4 new tires. My daughter was told I am not balancing them . What is that punishment for not knowing what the fees were? Who does this man think he is? CLEARLY an opportunist. Once I explained to her the importance of BALANCING HER NEW TIRES- SHE CRIED!!! Mavis- traumatized my daughter!! She did not tell me until today 1 week later, that she was told that about the balancing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! IF YOU ARE A WOMAN-RUN FAR FAR AWAY. DEFINITELY NEVER SEND A YOUNG INEXPERIENCED ADULT HERE EXPECTING TO BE TREATED EQUITABLY--NOT GUNNA HAPPEN--FOR THE RECORD- WERE SENT VIA EMAIL A SORRY WE MISSED YOU NOTIFICATION. HE DID THIS SO THAT WE WOULD NOT RECEIVE A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEY- BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF A YOUNG INEXPERIENCED ADULT- DOES NOT WANT THE TRUTH ON HIS SURVEY-SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ELSEWHERE. Very dissatisfied with Mavis I got there 8am I was the person on-line. I needed to have brakes checked and I know I needed front brakes. They told me they didnt have mechanics until 9am. Even with a appointment I Ieft at 10:00 oclock ..what a joke poor management never going back there
Brought my car in to get 2 new tires and one tire looked at, also needed an inspection. My car was promptly serviced, all worked needed was done. My car was ready as promised, the same day. I was not able to pick up my car that same day, the service technician had no issues letting me pick up my car the next day. All work done comes with a warranty. I was able to also purchase an extra warranty on my new tires. Overall great experience.
Very nice place to go and good prices for tires but I found a better place its a lot cheaper and its Spanish its over on 5th Avenue Pioneer Drive Ill get the info I dont want to lose all my stuff in the car to find it I get back to you guys but Mavis Tires good too but the Spanish communities a lot cheaper and just as good or better tires from the Spanish tire shop I go to on Pine Aire Drive Ill complete. In a bit I have to find a card in my car
My wife came in today to get a tired fixed, and came home with the spare still on?? The front desk person, Tom was not helpful and very rude. Called while getting it fixed, stated she needed 3 new tires. Declined to get the tires today, and said to just move forward with the one tire fix. He said ok. Now pick up the car, she still has the spare on? She went in to ask why it was still on and was rudely told it could not be fixed?? Yet, stated it could over the phone? Very unprofessional. Then came to show me the tire and sarcastically and rudely says “can’t you see this? It’s not going to be fixed.” And walked away. Tom needs to learn customer service. I would stay away from this place, only rude unprofessional individuals.
This is my fourth time on doing tires with them and I have to say that every time they have taken great care of me, this is a great place to buy tires, prices are unbeatable and its warranty, let me tell you, you can beat that... I personally highly recommend mavis tires located at sunrise hayway in bay shore.....
Im not sure if the front desk man Tom is hard of hearing, I dont mind repeating myself (especially because I know its hard with masks) regardless he didnt seem to be paying attention to me and kept interrupting me even though I was literally just answering the question he was asking. When the mechanic went to drive my car into the garage he did not have any gloves or a mask on. When I asked Tom about it, he said he said the mechanics wear rubber gloves when driving the cars. When I explained to Tom that the man was not wearing gloves the answer I received was then his hands should be clean SHOULD be clean. He didnt seem to care about my concerns and didnt address it with the mechanic in question. When returning my car the mechanic wore a mask but still no gloves.
I came in for a full set of tires, an oil change and a brake flush. I specifically noted that I wanted to keep the old tires to reuse. The work took hours longer than I was told and cost more than expected as well. The oil change cost more than the dealership charges! Also, after paying at the counter, when I went out to pick up the car and old tires, the worker notified me that one if the valve covers was stuck, so they punctured the tire rather than cutting the valve stem, making the tire useless. They did this without notifying me and it came from a mechanic after I had already paid. Completely disappointed in the treatment by management. The mechanic was very helpful with loading the remaining tires in the car and was pleasant to deal with but the manager was unhelpful and made no attempt to make up for them destroying a good tire and let alone notify me that they had done so. Too expensive, poor management, would not recommend.
Got there early on a Sunday before they opened. They gave me a price on some no nam tires with a decent rating. I told the Manager that I wanted to see them before they were installed on my car since they were not displayed in the showroom. How do people just take their word that this is what you will like ? Its just business there with no personal connection.
Horrible service. After scheduling an appointment at the insistence of a manager, my new set of tires took three-and-a-half hours to put on my car--more than two hours longer than I was told to plan for. To top it off, he tried to overcharge me by not only charging me for an alignment but for checking my alignment. I dont think he expected me to review my bill after making me wait so long for my car. Of course, it took another 10 minutes for him to make a call so that he could process my refund.
I wish I could give no stars but one is the least I can give to write a review. When I arrived with a tire that was leaking air, I was told the wait would be about 45 mins - hour. I waited and after and hour and a half, I was still waiting. When I inquired how much longer the wait would be, I was told probably another half hour. When I said I was leaving, they said they would put the car on a lift and I would be next. If I believed that I probably would have been sitting there another hour or more. Very poor customer service. Avoid Mavis - there are plenty of other places to go for mechanical and tire service that actually valiue their cistomers..

BEWARE OF THIS PLACEWhere to start??>> The Shortened Version:They put 2 new tires on my car on a Monday. while my car was being finished the Manager TOMMY is leaning on the roof of my car like hes at home. (very Unprofessional)but thats just the beginning.Tuesday Im driving home and get a flat! I bring it in to them and they tell me that my wheel is bent. I said how didnt they notice that when I replaced the 2 tires? shouldnt the balance be off when they check that?? (Perhaps they bent it and didnt want to be at fault). The manager tells me the Tech may have over looked it.. So Chris the manager tells me it is $90-$100 TOPS to have the wheel straightened out! 2 minutes later the manager TOMMY tells me Chris doesnt know what hes talking about and that it will be $150. I said forget it I will take the wheel with me because I am sick of this uneducated and unprofessionalism. Then I call the corporate office and only hear back from the store managers with a sincere apology. I have been waiting on a call back from the General Manager of Mavis for over 3 days now. So unprofessionalism starts at the management level I see.So out of all of this I over paid for cheap tire, almost had a blow out on my home from work due to incompetence, and now 2 of wheels are scratched from the mishandling.Bottom line is They dont know what they are doing; they are very unprofessional; if you want your car to be abused and destroyed then bring it to them. Come Monday I will be filing a formal complaint with BBB and Consumer Affairs and even further if I have to; as well as turn customers away from being subjected to such neglect and incompetence. If you dont believe me then go find out for yourself, but inspect everything and watch everyone!
What can I say but bravo great customer service clean well lit comfortable waiting area .great mechanics very reasonable prices. Used to go to a privately owned garage and just got fed up with being taken advantage of and charged absorbant prices for nothing .mavis was like a breath of fresh air honesty and integrity was something Id thought was dead but I was wrong its alive and thriving here at mavis we now have them service both our vehicles .dont hesitate giving them a try I think you will be pleasantly surprised .what I really thought was commendable was they treated my 82 year old mom like a queen she loved the service and didnt feel like she was being treated any different because or talk down to her but explained everything in plain English. Any how we are all very. Happy with the services rendered will be our go to auto mechanics and they have tow service options as well AA+++
Been coming to the Mavis in Bay Shore for a couple of years now. Usually have great service, good personality and some witty banter behind the counter, and zippy wifi. However, I made an appointment for an inspection yesterday. Showed up on time for said appointment and at the time of this review,Ive been waiting two hours. Voiced my frustration and all I got was Not our fault because you made the appointment with the call center. Not even an apology for eating my valuable time, nothing.Cmon guys! Its 2017, get your call center to sync with your branches!! After this inspection is done, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Two older white gentlemen at the front desk were very rude, i had some questions in regards to a tire repair or replacement, i was very nice to them. they mustve been having a crappy day cus they told me to just go to firestone down the road, i left crying cus i had a flat & my newborn, drove half a mile to firestone where they took great care of me. then i called to speak to the manager and he said he said well theyve been in the business for almost 30 years and i never had a problem with them
Made an appointment. Still had to wait 2 hours. I had to leave. Of course the typical Im sorry but no one can give me an update after the first hour. Great waste of a Saturday morning. Why make an appointment? Probably the list time I visit ANY Mavis discount tire. Nothing but issues and no follow-up.
I have been bringing my car to Mavis for some time now. I used to go around and price different places and Mavis always won. Then I got to know Pete at the Bayshore store and he is great. He is honest and the prices are very fair. I highly recommend this shop if youre looking for honest and quality work. Ask for Pete.
Someone assessed my flat incorrectly on a Sunday, I had to come back the next day. After an attitude from Jason, they told me it was a rusted rim. They said I could come back Tuesday to put the new tire on the extra rim I have (I explained how I would only be able to come there, roughly, an hour before closing. They assured me that it would be fine. I came there and Jason told me how he couldn’t do it because he didn’t have enough time and that there was only 45 min left and his crew had 4 cars to do.I asked for corporate’s number, in which he got his face into mine, and aggressively told me the number. I spoke to corporate and they couldn’t get me into this store or another close by, though I should have been a priority. Their only solution was for me to come back yet another day, and that I should receive a call from the district manager tomorrow. When I asked Jason for his name, he was rude about it saying, “You can complain about me, that’s fine.”Who runs a business like this? I wasn’t rude or disrespectful, but I received rude and disrespectful behavior from a business that does not treat their customers right.
We brought a 1997 Camry to Mavis 2 times and each time the repairs were done timely and satisfactorily. We never felt that they tried to rip us off. In fact we were of the opinion that we needed a new starter recently and it turned out to simply be a battery. Pete was very pleasant to work with. We would surely go back again.
Not happy. Came in for a brake job, knew i would need rotors. Sat for an hour before someone gave me a diagnostic. I apporoved the work and was told they would get right on it. Waited another hour and a half for the job to be completed. Curiously... i walked out to the bay to see my car half completed. When i questioned the service counter man he apologized, but the manager walked in and stated that he took the mechanic off of my car to service a car whos owner was not even in the store..... a drop off. Customer service.... none!! The new manager MARK.... is rude, condecending and disrespectfull. He chastised a tenured worker for sypathizing with the costumer.... in front of the Customer. NOT Professional at all. While im at it.... did i mention that he himself was smoking in the work area. (Insurance nightmare) This place needs an overhaul from the top down. Not like it used to be years ago. I have been a customer of this location for about 12 years..... im not going back!!!!I will however be calling the BBB on Monday to report this place.
Horrible, i was customer for almost 5 years,They charged me for ceramic brakes and gave me very cheap brakes. I just start going to the different shop and they told me. Not only pads but rotors are very cheap too. Brake makes noise and slips . Last month when i went to complaint Corey and Thomas were so RUDE TO ME USUALLY THEY ARE NICE UNTILL I COMPLAINT .. My advise to everybody just make sure they use parts what you pay for.ONLY MR KEVIN IS A GOOD GUY. AND THANK YOU TO ALL MECHANICS.
The tires from Mavis are fine and installed fine, however, that being said, be ready to wait only because the office staff are not qualified office workers. Almost 3 hours for 4 new tires. Girl in the office spends more time flirting with the installers than doing office work.
Suzette Babb.I am a nurse here at the hospital in Bayshore, NY. So I called up to have my oil change and try and get it done within my lunch time. I was so happy when the guy gave me an appointment the next day at 12:15am. I arrived got nervous as i saw 4 men waiting. They took my keys right away after giving them my name and I was so surprised in 24 min my van was finished and I was ready to go. They made that promise and kept it. Thanks Mavis for being their when I needed you most.
Very bad experience,manager was very rude ,workers are slow took hour and a half to install 2 tires on rims and then tell me the rims dont fit on my car like i demanded a refund and was declined untill i called there corprate office then they finally had to refund me , never going back there again
This place is horrible,the wait time is outrageous,do your self the favor and go directly across the street to MIDAS for any work,mavis is only tires nothing else.But make sure you make a appointment ahead to still wait hours to get anything done.no stars should be able to be given.the counter guy Tommy talks all day and need to be taught customer service or just plain fired.I heard the same story 3 times in 2 hours.customer service is to help not chit chat with customers.i would go on but what is the point they will continue to do what they do.Quick service and not trying to sell what you do not need does not exist anymore.
The 1747 sunrise Hwy location is the worse customer services they are not kind and nice to customers very rude I was there for tires and as soon as they took my car they started quoting me for other stuff over selling and getting customers to spend more money like I said no thanks he got upset and stared giving me attitude....I hate to be treated at any place I’m paying my money with attitude so I said to the front desk to put my car down and I didn’t do nothing purchase nothing and left at the end is on them I don’t recommend this location to no one ..... ended up at good year Commack love it and they are very kind and cheaper

2022-05-26Manager in white shirt not helpful at all. First worker ignored me , acted like he didnt speak or understand English language. Then I asked Manager if the air machine was working he said No, no power. Completely ignored the fact that my tire was flat and needed air. I left with a flat tire. Thanks Mavis in Bayshore

2022-06-16NEVER COME HERE! Getting a state inspection took 6 hours, they proceeded to remove my tires for no reason, the proceeded to eat a butterfinger in the car (keep in my mind I have a peanut allergy). This place in the past year has become a complete nightmare and I recommend going to literally any place else.

2022-01-14Eric and his team are always 100% on point and honest. I take my family’s cars here and they are always ready before how long they say. Been coming here for years and will continue to. Having an honest and knowledgeable car guy is a weight off mine and my families shoulders. May I also note that I live in deer park and drive past like 5 other Mavis to come to this one.

2022-01-15I was able to get my car fixed at this Location. They were able to professionally get my car in and out fixing all the issues I had. It’s been a couple months and no complaints from tires to my sensors.

I m a disabled veteran who had a flat in their parking lot and they refused to help me on new years eve unless I payed them cash, so dont believe for a minute they respect veterans. And the owner Tom is the one who wouldnt help me. Also when you go in you should ask why one employee lit another co worker on fire when he was in the bathroom. Its amazing how this place is still allowed to be in business.
