T.K.K. Fried Chicken in other cities:
The tea and food were pretty good, but the service was awful. I ordered two meals and it took over half an hour during a slow part of the day to make it, which is way too long.I’m convinced they either forgot about it or are just so understaffed that they didn’t start making it until I asked the second time.
I hate to give them an only 4-star rating, but I just cannot give them 5 stars. TKK Fried Chicken is a very famous fried chicken fast food restaurant from Taiwan. As a Taiwanese, I love their food so much. As their very first branch in the US, they do provide juicy and tasty fried chicken. The staff are also nice. The only problem is that I cannot get Kwa Kwa Bao at all!! I have been there for 7 times, almost once every 2 days since their grand opening. But I dont even get a single Kwa Kwa Bao. I always go there in the noon. In the first few visits, they told me it was sold out. But in the recent visits, they just told me they dont provide it at all for the whole days. I really love TKK, but things will not work out if they continuously fail to provide their signature dish. Sad, really sad.
Im a big fan of this place, particularly the signature meal, which includes a piece of chicken a kwa kwa bao and a side. My go to side is the shishito peppers, which a little lighter than say fries as a side dish. The chicken tastes decent, its definitely not the best fried chicken in the city, but it does the job - especially for the price. My preference is to dip my chicken in the different sauces that they have here. The kwa kwa bao is somewhat of a specialty/novelty thing. Its rice, mushrooms and pork inside a crispy chicken skin wrapper. I like the taste of it and that with the chicken piece and side is enough for a meal.IG: @easty_eats
The shishito peppers were delish, biscuit was a little hard and not ebough butter. The chicken and its batter was delish, except by the second piece of chicken, my blood pressure probably shot up. Its pretty salty. I went around 3pm and they didnt have the kwa kwa bao - therefore forced to order the 3 pcs chicken combo.
There is a new kid in town and I welcome them with open arms and hungry tummy. Its the best of both worlds, bubble tea and fried chicken. They have many locations in Asia but first in NYC. They are giving local fried chicken places a run for their money. Its crispy and flavorful. The flavors run deep. The original flavor reminds of the Taiwanese popcorn chicken seasoning. Its full of umami and heavier on the salt. The spicy one is a touch more crispy with a slight kick. Nothing crazy and just interesting enough from the original. The first bite of the chicken is like shattering glass but no blood involved. Its crispy and then the juices will start flowing. The mashed potatoes are fine.Kwa kwa bao is sticky rice with mushroom and pork wrapped in chicken skin and then fried. Its not as crunchy or crispy but the skin does a good job keeping the rice tender. The flavors is very similar to Taiwanese yu fan but without meat sauce.Kung fu tea is also here and they are tasty as usual.Be prepared to have napkins close by or just be ready to lick your fingers clean. There is really no ladylike way to eat the meal.
I love chicken. KFC. Popeyes. Crowns. NY Fried. My wifes lol I was skeptic about TKK since I never heard of them. I had the combo 3pc dark with curly fries and biscuit. Wow, surprisingly great taste. Good service as well. Biscuit was lightly buttered to perfection, chicken was tasty, fries were great. I recommend this place. Their options are PRICY! so I stuck with the $10 meal and was thoroughly satisfied
Although I received the incorrect order (white meat instead of dark, but to be fair I only checked once I had gotten home), I have to say that the spicy fried chicken at TKK is phenomenal. Very flavorful, not greasy. The biscuit that comes with the combos was also very nice, and this is coming from someone who usually avoids them. If youre getting a bit tired of all the K-Town spots - give TKK a try! I think youll be very pleasantly surprised.
This place is awesome if youre into lively restaurants with a very hip vibe! Their playlists are always on point, with both a mix of current pop and old pop as well. Even though theres no table side service, the amazing staff offers to pick up your trash and ask you if youre doing well! So much attention to detail given its a place to just grab a quick bite or possibly some delicious bubble tea! I use it for studying because I attend Baruch and youll usually be surrounded by students as well but dont let that deter you from this amazing place! Amazing food and amazing tea, keep up the great work!
Love this place since they decided to combine with Kung Fu Tea. This place is pretty close to my work so I come here pretty frequently to grab a drink or a snack. I love the fact that they have a rewards program that makes it easy to earn rewards and free drinks. The place itself is actually pretty big. Its a lot bigger than most cafes Ive seen, but that might have to do with the fact that it is shared with Kung Fu Tea. There are a bunch of seats in the front as well as in the back. There is also a relatively clean bathroom in the back as well. The curly fries are great and I love how if you want, you can also order alcohol. I got the chicken sandwich from here before when they had a combo deal and I was not disappointed in the chicken. This is one of my favorite places to go around this neighborhood to grab a quick drink and snack.
Think popeyes with a korean touch, bubble tea and cool 80s music, and you have this place. Super affordable and filling. The meat was pretty juicy. The one thing that I would suggest for them is to improve the fries, as they consistently taste like they were made hours ago.
Chicken was nice and juicy but seasoning was similar more American style than Taiwanese - which was a bit disappointing. It was a bit too salty with a lot of pepper. I think the spicy mix equates to more black pepper. Cole slaw was creamy style and good - wish it was slightly more tangy, biscuits were dry, curly fries were nice. They ran out of Kwa kwa Bao during my trip and the bubble tea had some very very chewy tapioca- maybe since it was opening weekend they didn’t have as much time for quality control. Will visit again on another time to see how it is on a normal day.
Horrible customer service. I received the wrong drinks and call the store, Male manager was super rude and got so defensive and pretty much telling me its uber driver fault. I saw the guy coming with 1 bags of drinks so clearly he didnt pick up 2 orders and my drink was inside the food bags so you must have messed up and blame it to anyone but yourself! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I typically dont eat fried chicken. Even if I do, itd probably be the fried chicken from one of the Thomas Keller restaurants:-D But I gotta say, for a fast food joint, they do have pretty amazing fried chicken. The bubble tea, on the other hand wasnt very good. It was basically as good, or as bad as the other kung fu tea joints. The tea had no taste as usual. Its unfortunate that they have partnered up with the worst chain in the area.
#2 (2 pcs chicken, curly fries, biscuit) was delish. Chicken was cooked through nicely and not overly salty as I expected. Biscuit isnt their strong suit, as Popeyes and KFC has my biscuit heart, but was soft on the inside and a tad crispy on the out. Enjoyed a milk tea with green tea as a drink and their lemonade also is pretty good! Will try their fried bao next time, fo sho.
Careful they close whenever they decide to don’t drive out with confirming (assuming they don’t change their mind on your way there). I wasted my gas today, remember they schedule based on how they feel and will laugh at you when you stand outside asking why they’re closed 50 minutes before closing time! Don’t waste your time guys!
Really authentic macha bubble tea! I just discovered the place on my way home on th 23rd street. The place has TKK fried chicken and Kungfu bubble tea in a combined location / shared space, which is an interesting combination. The place is clean and modern. The staff is friendly and sharp to get our order right. I will look forward to coming back and try some more menu items! AND another macha bubble tea.

2022-01-18Went on Thursday evening to try this place I saw that caught my attention on YouTube. Took bite and saw blood oozing out of the chicken. I had emailed the company that night. Also messaged their Instagram account. It’s been few days, still no reply. Very bad customer service. Just felt like throwing up after seeing the blood coming out. There are far better places than this with proper customer service. Extremely disappointed and disgusted. $15 down the drain.

2022-07-03Im a big ramen fan, however, when I asked my friend which ramen place to go in NYC, they all told me: “you should go to TKK fried chicken”. Today I finally got what they meant.

2021-11-04Best biscuit of my life. Such juicy chicken. The sweet milk tea helps with the spicy chicken. I love a self service place where i can order on my phone or a screen.

2022-05-07Food was okay, they probably used old oil or chicken is bad because some of the chicken pieces really stink. Chicken sandwich was okay, really greasy. Coleslaw is bland. Best part were the curly fries. Workers were friendly and the wasnt long.

2020-08-21Been meaning to try this place for a little while now. Glad I did today...Quality is good, chicken was freshly fried, tender and not dried. Which is rare for a fried chicken sandwich to be like this...Really well done and thank you. Will be back :)Not sure what sauce they used, but it’s a creamy yet tangy mayonnaise like sauce...They have a patio, but at noon, it’s too sunny and warm, also it’s facing a busy street with not much atmosphere...

2018-12-19Fabulous fried chicken joint with lively interior. Staff are friendly and attentive, opening the door and handing guests with a menu as they wait in line. Food comes out relatively fast, and the fried chicken is well seasoned, flavorful, and moist. Its perfect on its own, but feel free to try out the many Asian inspired condiments. Biscuits are fresh, soft and pillowy. While a fast food, staff will also come over to throw out the trash promptly. Will definitely come back!

2018-12-04Great environment, very lively. Enjoyed the music as I waited for my food. Staff was very friendly and professional. All the drinks looked very tasty, definitely will have to come back around to try them all. This time around I had the strawberry lemonade, it was very refreshing. The fried chicken was decent, kind of bland, needed more seasoning and the spicy could have been a tad spicier but I did enjoy the crunchiness. The curly fries were good but a tad bit cold. The biscuit was a tad doughy, needs jelly or butter. The bacon mash potatoes were good, packed with lots of flavor. Overall I had an okay experience my first go around.

2022-04-19The best spicy chicken ever. I have long wait for this favor from china. KFC and Popeyes got nothing on this. Spicy chicken sandwich and the 4 spicy wing is what I always get. My love it here because of the Kung Fu yea that’s built in to this. I just wish they would have more locations. This location isn’t as good as NJ but sometimes I’m around the area.

2022-05-12This review is for my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised! The chicken is delicious. I stumbled by it and the smell wafting through the door made me turn around and go back! At first I was confused because I just noticed the tea side, then I saw the crowd of people for the chicken side lol. 4 stars because the kiosk didnt work and rather than someone saying something they spent time chatting with each other while a line formed of people trying to use the kiosk just to eventually have to order at the register. The food was good though and I have definitely gone back at least twice. I just went straight to the register the following times.

2022-06-25Good drinks and food , though the chicken was salty. Was a wait for the chicken though, they should have it all cooked already.
