It was quick and easy and affordable they got me in the day after I requested an appointment and extracted my tooth with little to no pain and all the staff were wonderful and nice and didn’t make me feel bad for the way my tooth was before the extraction! It was a new dentist I haven’t seen her before but she was the nicest and most wonderful dentist I’ve ever experienced
They did what I went for , but see different dentist every time. The female dentist said may 10 words to me during whole visit and was on to next patient before I was out of the chair.People at front desk are great. Everyone else acts like a robot.Looking for me dentist
Prophet Mohammed recommended miswak to be used to maintain proper oral hygiene, hence is considered by Muslims to be the first dental educator in oral hygiene. Orthodox Muslims practice miswak tooth cleaning five times daily as an important part of ablutions before worship.Sending this just so you know who and when invented teeth cleaning. Cuz I read wrong info on your website plz correct it. So ppl know the truth. 😊
I did not see Dr. Singh this visit, I saw a different dentist, I think she said her name was Dr. Hong? She was by far the friendliest dentist I have seen there and she did a really great job with my filling. Much better than the Dr. That did my last filling in January.
Firstly I would like to say that the techs and reception area people are lovely and that this review is solely about my experience with the doctor.I went in because I had a tooth that was broken. The doctor didnt even realize that thats what I was there for until I brought it up . He took 30 seconds to look through X-rays and then proceeded to tell me that I had cavities that needed to be filled, ignoring my chief complaint . All he said was oh well it didnt break by the nerve so you should get those cavities filled, even though none of these cavities are on the tooth thats broken. And then he left. I literally saw this doctor for 2 minutes tops and he really did nothing to help me. It felt more like I was a customer at a fast food Drive-In then at a dentist office. I would like to actually have the dentist talk to me about what was going on and help me solve it rather than have someone that cant even take the time to look me in the eye. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone Im really upset about the lack of patient care from the doctor. I will NOT be going here again based on my experience with that one person. The rest of the staff is great.
I’m so glad I came here to get my teeth cleaned! I’ve heard too many horror stories of different places in Ithaca that try to swindle patients when they just go in for a teeth cleaning. My appointment was very efficient, started right on time, and everyone from the front desk, to the x-ray tech, to the dental hygienist, and the dentist were all in sync with each other and very kind. I had such great service and definitely recommend this place. There were no surprises with my bill which is what I expected since my cleanings are covered by insurance. I’m happy to finally have found a good dentistry here in Ithaca.
I have been going toTompkins Dental-for years and love them. They helped me keep my own teeth for many years. In November of 2020 we decided to pull my remaining teeth due to bone loss. I was shown 3 different grades of dentures and decided on the more expensive ones. I had the teeth pulled and the impressions were based on my own teeth. My new teeth went in immediately after extractions. I will get a hard reline in November 21 and i have had adjustments and a soft reline . I really appreciate all they have done and I-get compliments all the time on how nice my teeth look and people are shocked when I tell them they are dentures. I can also eat very well and they are very comfortable.I am very pleased with my dentist and the entire office. Its a great group of people.
X-ray technician was friendly and efficient. Had a great cleaning experience with Karen. She made sure I was comfortable throughout the cleaning and shared helpful knowledge regarding my dental hygiene. The office was efficient in processing insurance and I’m overall happy with the care provided.
I came in with tooth pain and was helped by a great receptionist and the hygienist was fantastic, but then Dr. Singh came in. He sat down for about 1 minute and told me I would need a root canal. Considering I’ve never needed one before, I was surprised and before I even could ask questions he got up to leave. I asked him why I needed a root canal versus a cavity (I’m a scientist and am interested in the specifics) and instead of answering my question he proceeds to grab a metal tool and jab my tooth 3 times and asks “does this hurt?” This was completely unprofessional and not what I asked (of course I was in pain, that’s specifically why I came in). The hygienist could see I was frustrated after he left and proceeded to show me a picture of what a root canal looks like and why it was different from a cavity which I’m thankful for, but I’m incredibly disappointed by the dentist I saw. I don’t recommend this place at all.UPDATE: After getting an appointment for a post and crown after my root canal was done at another office because this office scheduled my root canal months later, I was told the day of my appointment that they wouldn’t let me back because of my review (AKA their response that they hope they can treat their patients better after a horrible experience is completely false). Beware of this practice.
The staff are absolutely wonderful and friendly! The dentist was very efficient and direct. I love going to the dentist here. I always feel like I am treated well with respect and again, the staff are just terrific! I recommend this place 100%. Every time Ive gone to get my mouth worked on, its always been a stellar and super positive experience. 👍🏻👍🏻
I had a very positive experience. The practice got me in the next day and they were very patient and informative. I had not been to a dentist for a few years and was nervous about meeting a new dentist and practice. They were very kind, professional and I was amazed that my appointment started on time and went so well. I was out in under an hour. Their prices were extremely reasonable. I am going back to have some much needed work done. I highly recommend them.
I went for an annual cleaning and check-up. As others have said, this is a high volume practice. The staff moved me very efficiently between x-rays and cleaning by a hygienist. While they didnt waste any time, they were friendly and communicated well what was happening. The hygienist gave me feedback on my plaque levels and where to focus my brushing and flossing. Dr. Singh was with me for a short time, but did an inspection and looked at my x-rays. My advice: If you have questions you want answered, make sure to speak up and be forthright because they move fast, but I did get the impression they would be responsive to questions. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience.
They accepted my fidelis which has been a pain to find any places that do.The staff are the kindest I have ever had the pleasure to work with. They make you feel safe and secure. I have a huge dental fear and have had bad teeth a majority of my life. Singh is a man of few words but very professional and makes trips to the dentist super fast! The only negative things I have to say is I went for full top extractions and they decided to only do half, that’s mostly for my lack of communication and my anti social skills. Also, the times for getting in are long and any appointments after the initial one are also long due to the dentist only being there on certain days. But overall, it is a great place!
I was very happy with this place. I tend to be a nervous dental patient, and Ive had bad experiences at other places. But I had a cleaning here yesterday, and it went very well. The staff was very nice, and very accommodating to my general whimpering and cringing. The hygienist listened to me when I explained the one really sensitive tooth, and she stayed away from the sensitive place and didnt hurt me at all. They also work directly with my insurance, so I dont have to worry about trying to find out what procedures are covered. All in all a very positive experience.
I had recently had an appointment at Tompkins Dental and it was amazing. The staff and the doctors were very nice and polite. Dr. Singh extracted two teeth from me and made it painless. He was also very nice and was quick with the appointment. This definitely is the best dental office I have been to. I will come back for every appointment.
My experience here at Tompkins Dental was very pleasant. I did not have to wait long at all. I was called in when my appointment was, not 10/15 minutes later. Also the staff and Dr. were very friendly. They all greeted me with a hello and more. I would recommend this office to others.
I dont have many choices for dental care because of my insurance. The staff here have always been attentive. Because they are a very busy practice, it IS NECESSARY to ask lots of questions and ask communicate your needs clearly as they are a busy office. I scheduled a consult and the the doctor helped me understand the process. As I have multiple tooth issues, I was not clear on what the steps to resolve them would be. I felt frustrated, so I scheduled a consult with Dr .Singh and the issues have been resolved. I still dont like going to the dentist of course, but my opinion of the Tompkins Dental has changed. Grateful.
I recently visited Tompkins Dental and had a great experience. Karen was great with the cleaning and was very friendly. Dr. Singh nicely explained to me my treatment plan, and the front office is going to help me with my insurance plan so I dont have to spend a lot of money out of pocket for the implant. Everybody is very polite and friendly. Thank you Tompkins Dental for your services .
My experience was pleasant. I was experiencing a lot of pain in my molar tooth and had to have a Root Canal procedure done, I was very frightened when I heard about this procedure. The staff was very comforting and explained what was happening step by step. Dr. Singh was very professional confident and courteous. The issue at hand was resolved, and I was extremely relieved. I would absolutely recommend this office to the next patient in line!!
This is the worst experience I ever had with Dental Cares. I would rate 0 if I can. The first visit was for cleaning and the assistants at the office were cold and rude. I did not pay much attention and I think they might be in a bad mood that day. THAT is my BIGGEST MISTAKE. After cleaning, I was scheduled for fillings. But they canceled my appointment twice and I was told to reschedule. During this period, I started a toothache. I went to the front desk in person and rescheduled my canceled-twice filling appointment. I explained everything to them about the filling appointment, about the toothache and I was canceled twice. They booked me for another filling appointment. During the waiting, they called and wanted to reschedule me again, I cannot. When I showed up, I was in xray room and told that I am here today for checkup rather than fillings because I had a toothache. I tried to explain to the assistant that I was scheduled for fillings. Yes, I did have a toothache but I did not schedule for that. She looked at me with a very unhappy face as I caused all the problems. I tried to explain to the doctor, and the doctor said that he has no time for two fillings, only one today, that I have to reschedule again. I was very upset and cannot imagine what happened. For this one appointment, they scheduled me three times, called me several times. I showed up to front desk to assure my appointment and they still did not make it right. I still did the filling because I do not want to waste my time. I asked for vacation hours for this appointment. As previously, they finished everything harshly and did not say anything warm. The treatment process was not a comfortable one. I would like to ask questions about my uncomfortable feelings and the doctor has little time for them. I can write another review about the treatment process. I am not a difficult patient; however, nobody should be treated like this. This is my only one star review on google. It is like; they have no time to be nice with the patient. They did not feel sorry and said sorry. They even did not say something nice. They did not want to communicate with the patient and they do not care. They messed up thing and then talking to you like this is your fault. All I felt is a very unfriendly, unprofessional, horrible office. I will never go to this dental again.
Called yesterday and they booked me for a cleaning and x-ray this morning (wasnt expecting to be able to get an appointment so fast). Everyone was friendly and forthcoming. I felt like the dental hygienist and dentist really cared about me as they explained what they saw in the x-rays and offered oral hygiene tips. Overall, great experience!
This place is absolutely awful. I wish giving 0 stars was an option. The staff, dentist and lab technicians have made numerous mistakes with my treatment, but they have never admitted to any of them. Because of their mistakes, I had to make (what should have been) unnecessary visits to get remeasurements and corrections. And even after all that, they never called me back to let me know that my bridge was ready to finalize my treatment. After a long period of no contact, I had to make the call to setup an appointment when it should have been them reaching out to me when my next visit was supposed to be ready. When I voiced my complaints, rather than apologizing to me, they proceeded to blame me saying my complaints were unwarranted. The incredibly rude staff members even went so far as to YELL at me when I inquired about billing details.I will never go back to this office and cannot recommend this place to anyone.
Terrible terrible place. I am missing a tooth because of their shoddy work. The dentist literally left a large hole in the side of my tooth after filling a cavity. The owner was pacing in front of the chair asking when he would be done so the dentist that day absolutely rushed me out the door and did not do a complete job. They sent me out with my mouth bleeding before without even offering me gauze. I have also been yelled at by the owner and several people have had a similar experience. I found a quality dentist and the difference is astounding. The longer I went to this office the worse my teeth got. There is lasting damage that can never be undone. Finally my teeth are healthy and well cared for now that I’m going elsewhere.
Called for an emergency extraction for a broken tooth. Took a week to get in, but due to the Covid-19 that was not bad time. No other dentists were taking new patients. The staff is extremely friendly and professional! The Dr was very quick and efficient. Thanks again for ending my miserable tooth pain!
I came to the appointment knowing I’m seeing Dr.Singh. Instead, another female came and started working on my filling, with no introduction or talking about the plan, and as I stopped her asking her who she was, she answered in a dry tone, “Dr Sherif”. She didn’t even say what kind of filling she was going to use till I asked her, only to answer with one word, “white”. Her work eventually is not good, and after 9 days, it still hurts after anything I eat or drink, and I am taking at least 2 ibuprofen doses daily to help with pain till I can follow up with Dr. Singh. So, bad dental job, and worse bed side doctor manners. By the way, during the procedure, she talked to the hygienist in a very derogatory way.I am extremely disappointed.
They pushed my appointment last minute without notice. I took the afternoon off of work to be able to do this procedure and as soon as I sat on the chair I was told that they couldn’t do it. There was no conversation, but rather was told by the dentist that “they don’t have time”.Extremely unprofessional.
Hygienist (Carrie or Karen I think her name was) was fast and very thorough. Honestly one of the most thorough and best cleanings Ive ever had. Very nice too. Busy office but I didnt feel rushed once. The dentist that came in was the owner too and he was efficient and friendly. Recommend to anyone.
Terrible experience. The nurse was very nice, helping clean my teeth carefully. But the dentist was the most arrogant doctor I have ever met. She did not want to spend one extra minute with me, just talking to the nurse and staff. I have to ask the nurse and the staff for her opinion. She was too busy hopping among different patients. I was not given even a second to ask one question. What you can only do there is lying down and let the dentist do whatever she wants to do with your teeth and pay the bill! I am so glad that I walked out of that place and am searching for a new dentist now.BTW, The dentist even talked to the staff in front of me about my case in another language ( probably Spanish) which I do not understand. That was totally not professional!
This practice was recommended to me by a coworker. At any rate, I went there for the first time today, so heres a real review. First of all, it is true that the office does feel a bit low budget -- its in a older strip mall after all, and the interior has not been updated recently. However, I guess I would rather go into an older office than a new one thats paid for because they try to sell you on all sorts of random crap (ultrasonic tooth care system anyone?) I only had to wait about five minutes after filling out the insurance forms, and the person who cleaned my teeth made it about as pleasant as getting your teeth cleaned gets. The primary care dentist was clearly in a bit of a rush, but didnt seem negligent. At any rate, Ive only been there once, but if anything changes I will update this review.Update: Have now been there four times now, the doctor removed a broken permanent retainer for free, which was pretty nice. (If an orthodontist ever tries to talk you into getting one of these, dont).Edit: Not so nice is that I just noticed that they paid someone to astroturf their primary listing in google maps.Edit2: Google removed a bunch of fake reviews all at once when they switched to a new system, so I guess its a moot point now.
Been here a few times. Got the female who did my fillings, she was rude and messed up on the fillings. Came back to get my tooth extracted, said to make sure it would be my dentist and they said okay. I got there and a different dentist came in, his name is Dr. Singh. He is HORRIBLE! NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I HAD SOMEONE SO ROUGH AND SO MEAN! Disrespectful..asked where my dentist was and he said...no time then grabbed the shot and jammed it in as hard as he could and as fast as he could. Finally I pushed he away and said bring my dentist in our Im leaving, you ARE NOT touching my mouth again. My dentist finally came in. Gave me a few more shots and was so gentle and so sweet. Ive never had a dentist so respectful, gentle, sweet, everything you could ask for from a dentist. Why he chooses to be there...ha who knows. His name, Dr. Reid---Collin Vaughn Reid. If you have insurance like mine and get stuck at Tompkins Dental, ask for him, Dr. Reid! He gets a 5 star rating, the rest of that place gets 0!!!!
The worst dentist I have every been too!! They are scamming the insurance company. In a matter of 6 months they said I needed 7 fillings. The fillings they put in were horrible. Then they told me I needed a root canal but my insurance wouldnt cover it but if I kept flossing and brushing I could probably keep the tooth for a couple years!!! I went and got a second opinion n they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with my tooth. Not to mention some the dental hygienist think they are dentist. They are scamming the insurance companies out of lots of money and they should be shut down.
I had my bottom left wisdom tooth pulled on Tuesday, February 7th. The appointment I scheduled was suppose to be for all 4 wisdom teeth, but he only did one. He was in a hurry the entire time I was there, didnt explain things or warn me when he was about to stick my gums. He was very rough with the needle in my mouth, and when pulling my tooth, they held my jaw down. Very unhappy with the way I was treated, I will never go back and absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone!!
Initial visit (before I had insurance) found I had 2 cavities that needed filling. When I went to have those 2 fillings put in, I had insurance. Suddenly they told me I had 9 cavities. (Which I found out later was a blatant lie). The dentist (Singh) instructed the female dentist to fill as many as possible right away. I informed her several times I was leaving the country for several weeks, so to please be careful. Careful she was not, inexperienced and arrogant she was instead. She was so rushed and clumsy that she got amalgam in my gum while attempting to fill a non-existent cavity between my molars. She used metal tools to attempt to pry my teeth apart enough so that she could force a metal pick into my gums to get the amalgam out. Even though she tried for several minutes, x-rays showed it was still present and since the area was now too swollen and bloody, she told me I would have to come back to have it removed before it became infected. I reminded her I was leaving in five days to India for 7 weeks, so she suggested I come in two days later, which I did. She once again dug into my gums in an attempt to remove the (metal and lead) from my gum. She did not x-ray afterwards to be sure and sure enough, I got an infection for which they almost refused to prescribe antibiotics. The worst part is the rough treatment I received fractured the molar and while I was in India the tooth cracked completely leaving the root exposed. The root died PAINFULLY and I needed to pay to have root canal and a crown when I came back to the States. I chose a reputable dentist to fix the tooth and ended up paying almost $3000 to repair the damage done. Do not go to Tompkins Dental. They should have their license revoked.
I first scheduled an appointment with Tompkins Dental in April 2012 specifically for the extraction of a very painful tooth(failed root canal). I arrived for my appointment, only to be told that they couldnt possibly do an extraction on a first appointment. I would need an assessment, and then have to schedule a follow-up for the extraction. Dr. Singh performed the assessment, concurred that the tooth ought to come out, and I rescheduled for the following week.I arrived for my second appointment, only to have a different dentist tell me that I would need to be referred to an oral surgeon. I inquired as to why his assessment differed from Dr. Singhs and was told that the new dentist was not confident in his ability to perform the extraction cleanly. I demanded to see Dr. Singh, and was rescheduled for a few hours later that day. I returned, had the tooth extracted, and was very satisfied with the procedure. I asked for the bill and paid in full before I left that day... Or so I thought.Ten months later, I got an overdue notice in the mail. I called to inquire, only to be told on my first attempt that the computers were down, and on my second that the billing person wasnt in yet(at 900am on a Friday) but that I would be called back when she was in. On my third attempt, I reached Michelle from billing. She kindly explained that what I paid last April was only an estimate of the actual bill, which might have been nice to know at the time. The delay had been because We switched to a new system and then we switched back, so everything from the old system is a little delayed.TL;DR Ask for the guy with his name on the door(Dr. Singh). Everyone else there is incompetent.
This review has absolutely nothing to do with the dental hygienist. She was very kind and patient with me, and she did a thorough cleaning.Im going to spell out exactly what happened and let you be the judge. When I called to make this appointment I made it very clear that I had a filling missing and it needed to be repaired. Since I am a dentiphobe I also made it clear that I expected any work to be done at the time of this appointment. In the middle of the cleaning the dentist came in. I assumed it was the doctor, he never introduced himself, nor did he bother to ask who I was.Healthcare 101: Tell the patient who you are and what you are there for. Then make sure you have the correct patient.I attempted to tell him about the missing filling and point out which tooth it was. The feeling from him was to sit there and shut up while he was calling out notes for each tooth for the hygentist to write down.He did call out the missing filling oh, and he also called out two fractured teeth. This of course alarmed me and I asked how much that was going to cost and he told me in short I would need to get with the girls in the front and they would let me know. Then instead of replacing the missing filling hes simply got up and walked out and the cleaning continued. When it was done I asked the hygienist about the missing filling she said, Oh, well have to do that on the next visit.I went to the front desk and told the girl there that I had specifically stated that the missing filling was to be fixed on that visit when I made the appointment. What happened?I was then basically jollied along and then told the only thing they do an initial visit is cleaning and x-rays. She then showed me a carefully highlighted invoice where the cost of capping the two fractured teeth would be $995 each. There was nothing on this prepared invoice about the filling!First, as a real dentiphobe, I know there are a lot of ways to deal with a fractured tooth besides capping. No one bothered to even tell me there might be cheaper options let alone discuss any plan with me.I pointed out to the receptionist that I would still like to know how much it was going to cost to have the filling replaced. Oh! The Dentist didnt say anything about a filling. Thats uhm, what...$105? She asked the girl next to her. This is the exact point where I understood that I had been jollied into coming there. That they thoroughly expected to charge an extra office visit for EVERYONE. That I would have to get a second opinion on these so-called fractured teeth, and that I would NEVER-EVER set foot in this office again.I will update this review when I find out if the fractured teeth are real. Until then, please take what I have said with a dose of common sense.
Please if you can, go somewhere else. Ive been in pain for over a month now due to wisdom teeth problems. I contacted these guys when pain first started and they got me an apointment.. for teeth cleaning and x rays. Okay sweet.. cool. After that they scheduled me a week later to talk to a doctor.. The day of the appointment I called to see what time since I couldnt remember but knew it was in the afternoon, they couldnt find me in there and asked if I had the little time card and I told them Id look. Well, i was correct on the day and the appointment was in a few hours, so i called back to let them know. Well, they didnt have me at all and booked someone else in the time slot they gave to me. Lucky I didnt drive in. Okay, make another appointment Ive only been in pain 3 weeks now. Finally met with doctor 30 minutes after my appointment to have him and his nurse walk in silently, look over the computer for 5 minutes. He lowered the chair and stuck his fingers in my mouth .. still without a single word to me. Goes back to the computer and leaves a minute later. His nurse looks to me and says I can schedule my fillings and wisdom extraction at the desk and Im good to go. First of all, cavities? Hey you have a cavity! Nope, just go schedule for your fillings.Totally unprofessional and no help to someone at all with severe anxiety. We luckily got an appointment elsewhere who already has a higher interest in my health and pain situation than these guys have this past month. Never going here again. Ever.
If youre looking for a dentist in Ithaca, dont settle for this place just because they are one of the few offices taking new patients. Theres a reason for that. I have talked to literally no one that had a positive experience at this dentist and I am no exception.First, on the positive side, they do take most insurances. Its also conveniently located with lots of parking. If you are going for just a cleaning, they do a pretty good job there too.Now on to the bulk of the review. I never had an appointment that started on time, which is pretty common in the medical field, but still worth mentioning. Since the hours are 8-5, I try to take the least amount of time off from work possible and not being on time sort of stretches that out, which isnt great.I had some cavities that needed fillings and I requested the fillings that my insurance covered and they recommended something more long lasting. I declined and said I wanted the insurance covered fillings. MONTHS LATER (the billing process is SUPER slow) I received a bill showing that I had been given the other fillings anyway and now had to pay for them. Another insurance blunder comes with xrays. They will take all of the xrays every time even though some xrays are only covered once annually. Make sure you know which those are because they are expensive.Like many other reviews, they tried to convince me that I needed my wisdom teeth out and that they were causing my lymph nodes to swell. Turns out that wasnt the case and my orthodontist said my wisdom teeth were fine. So I avoided getting those out. They also told me that my orthodontics werent working well enough so I needed to have some more work done with that. In the meantime they also told me I needed a sleep guard for grinding my teeth at night. They took the mold and sent me back to my orthodontist. Then the guard came in and didnt fit because, surprise, my teeth shifted like they wanted. In retrospect I should have logically questioned that but I didnt. The sleep guard was also supposed to be covered by my insurance but it wasnt. When I tried to appeal it I couldnt get my billing information in a format that my insurance would take. I had to physically go to the office each time to get the print outs and then wait to see if insurance would take them. Despite my very clear instructions of what my insurance wanted, I always got something different and eventually they basically filibustered me until insurance wouldnt cover it and I had to pay. Finally, if you DO go to this dentist, you should also know that there is a fee for not showing up, but the system will also automatically schedule you for appointments and send you notice through the mail which sometimes arrive the day before the appointment telling you to call if you cant make the appointment. If you have an issue with certain billing things, they are patient and listen to your concern (my billing file had an updated cost once that described me as very frustrated in the notes) and will adjust if they can so I doubt they would actually charge a no show fee in this case, but with the other negligence, who knows.
I am extremely impressed with this office! Every single staff member from the front desk to the Drs were so genuinely nice and cheerful. My son was so happy and not scared at all to have the procedure done after it was all explained to him. I would recommend everyone to meet Dr.Singh and his staff!
I cannot stress how terrible of a place this is. And they are completely scam artists. I had them years ago try to tell me i had 3 or 4 cavities, and they even scheduled me for an appointment to have them drilled. I was too anxious/unsure after going into the dirty/dingy office and ended up cancelling. Years later i had a tooth pain so i began freaking out thinking the worst, assuming my untreated cavities finally worsened to the point of needing a root canal or surgery. When i went back to them, they said “No cavities”! Turns out it was just my wisdom tooth! But so then whatever happened to all those cavities!?!?! I was sketched out so i obviosly went to another doctor, who confirmed there were no cavities and there never was... they don’t just heal up like that...... and the ortho surgeon in town who took my wisdom tooth out said the same.. Even more dissapointing, they both said they’ve heard the same complaints of scamming and fraud from Tompkins Health Dental! The really sad part is this office is one of the only in town that accepts medicaid... So they know EXACTLY what they are doing.. The people who aren’t used to having insurance/dental care AND Dont have to pay ANYTHING.. ARE NOT the people who will object or look further into anything the dentist says they need done! They’ll just be happy their getting service and taking care of what they thought needed to be done and for free/low cost... Such a shame that they are low enough to be consistently doing this... You can even see it time and time again on their google reviews... I can only imagine how often they actually do this...
When I went in, Dr. Singh looked at my X rays and told me that I had 2, possibly 3 cavities. He said that we would see when we drilled. He didnt even actually LOOK at my teeth. This did not sound like a good plan ( I have only had one cavity during my life), so I took a copy of my X rays and went to another dentist to get a second opinion. This dentist said that I absolutely did not have any cavities that needed to be drilled. Do not go to this dentist unless you want your teeth drilled unecessarily.
If I could give Tompkins dental zero star I would! I was frustrated when I heard my fathers experience at their office today. My father took my 6 year old sister for a check up today and in the past when she was around 3, she had her upper teeth removed because of bad cavity. ( she only had bad cavity because the only thing she would drink besides water was apple juice). Our past dentist recommended that she should have her teeth pulled. It was even a hassle trying to find a doctor that would operate on a 3 year old. After the dentist at Tompkins dental saw her teeth (btw there was nothing wrong her teeth when she went in) the doctor asked my dad what happened to her teeth and my father explained her what happened. She said that it was MY FATHERS FAULT that she had cavity in the first and that my little wasnt getting proper care. The doctor threatened to call social services. My point is that DONT EVER GO TO TOMPKINS DENTAL! The doctors are really judgemental and they dont make you feel at home.
My wife got a root canal done here, but they never capped it and didnt tell us how important it was to do so. Her tooth broke in half within a year. What a waste of a few grand... Update: my wife is a physician and I am a graduate student and we most certainly would have gone through with getting the cap if we were told at the time we needed it. It had nothing to do with cost or time.
Worst place they didnt even numb u first. They are a bunch of towel heads u will leave there in the most pain in your life .you shouldnt leave in pain at any dentist office. You should be numb they try poking you without numbing it first almost stood up and knocked the one lady clean out. Trust me DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont waste your time with these people !!!! They are the absolute worst!
TOMPKINS DENTAL SAID THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ANYMOREI have been having severe tooth pain for three months and found that Tompkins dental accepts my insurance. I found out that this was a huge mistake. I have not been able to drink or bite anything with one side of my teeth because of the severe pain. The pain that throbs. Even after my 3rd visit, my pain is still the same. The WORST THING IS that the dentist said there is nothing their office can do anymore. What kind of dentist says that? I wanted to get treated for my pain not for cleaning, pulling out wisdom tooth that is not severe. I have lost 10 pouns over the 2 months because I could only drink foods with one side of my teeth. He wants to make patients wait and come back for another appointment that takes another 3 weeks.FYI, I have been using sensitive toothpaste and toothbrush. What happened over the 2 months :First office was visit for cleaning. One issue that I specifically mentioned was my tooth pain on my bottom right side. During thr cleaning, the dental hygienist was cleaning the pain spot tooth and I had to ask her if she could please stop for a second due to severe pain. She thankfully pointed out which tooth it was and told me to talk to the dentist. When the dentist came, I mentioned him about the pain and he said that THE PAIN SHOULD DISAPPEAR since the pain was due to non-cleaning. Without saying much he was about to leave. But I stopped him and asked him about my wisdom tooth. And then he told me that I should remove it and I should make appointment for it. I wish he could have told me that before he was about to leave. Before my second visit of wisdom tooth removal, the pain on my tooth did not go away but got worse. I also noticed that there was a black line on the tooth(see the picture). I used toothpick to slightly touch the line and it became painful. So I had to call the office to see if there is any appointments sooner. Thankfully I got rescheduled within 2 weeks of my first appointment. I sent receptionist a text message to confirm that the appointment is for my tooth pain evaluation and wisdom tooth removal. I got a message back saying yes.But when I spoke with the dentist on my second visit, the dentist had no idea about my tooth pain evaluation. He said I have to wait for next appointment. Really? So I had to show him the picture and he started to examine it. He used the air spray on that tooth and he said I might have to fill it if the temporary solution that he would use does not work. So he put the solution and took out my wisdom tooth removal. I was dismissed but the tooth pain got worse. I kept losing weight.Third visit was harder. When I called the receptionist that I still have the pain and the dentist said I might have to fill it, the receptionist looked at my file and said I do not need to fill my tooth. And I said but the dentist said I might need to fill it. But the receptionist said I do not need to. You are not a dentist lady. I finally got an appointment through another receptionist and saw the dentist on Monday. My thrid visit, after the x-ray, the dentist said that I should fill another tooth not the tooth that he put the solution. I was confused because during my second visit he specifially said my golden filling tooth could have been grinded. I asked him if he is sure and he said yeah. I wanted to insist but the injection was already near my mouth. So he filled the other tooth and and now it has been 3 days and the pain is getting worse daily.
I had 1 filling and they had to give me 3 shots to do so. The next day, my cheek was swollen with a huge black and blue bruise the size of 2 quarters combined. Seriously, it was just a filling! When I came back to complain about the bruise and the cheek swell, they said it was nothing they could do and they had no idea why it happened. I hope I wasnt passing out after the shots unknowingly and got punched in the face. Not recommended!

2022-04-11I have to say this is the most efficient dentist office Ive ever been to, very quickly in and out for a cleaning, and then another visit to fill cavities with quality work done! They do lose one star for bedside manner from the actual dentists. My hygienist was incredibly friendly and very nice, loved her. When Dr. Singh came in he did not say hello or introduce himself (I only know his name from the practice website), just looked at the X-Rays, said I had a few cavities and left. When I came back for my fillings the female dentist did say hello when she came in, but did not introduce herself or speak to me at all really for the rest of my time with her. The work was done quickly and I have no complaints on the quality of work.I will certainly be back as I value efficiency over any personal connection, but if you would like to have more of a connection with your dentistor prefer a slower process maybe better to look elsewhere.

2022-01-26I finally found a real dentist! The dentist did an awesome job, it was not terribly expensive (being self-pay and all). She was efficient and responsive to me if i needed that. I also like that Ill get a reminder call when its time for me to come in for a check-up. Finally!

2022-04-09Improved experience! The hygienist was very informative and kind. The female doctor who worked on my teeth was very patient and talked me through each step. They listened to my concern and did what I asked them to do prior working on my tooth.

2022-03-08It is always intimidating finding a good dentist, I needed a tooth extracted, cleaning and filling. The staff is professional, fast, courteous facility is clean and Dr. Singh gets right down to business. If you need help in a no-non sense environment this is the place. (I may need more specialized dentistry but if you are in a pinch you are in good hands here)

2022-05-07I very much appreciated the patience and care the dentist and her assistant gave me when getting my fillings (one of which turned out to need a root canal, and it was excruciating). I had a lot of unexpected anxiety and they were very understanding and patient. The front desk staff is mostly great, there is only one who seems annoyed every time I ask questions. Otherwise, I recommend Tompkins Dental, especially for those with Fidelis/Medicaid. They are also usually booked about a month in advance, so you need to be a good planner and try not to cancel, or you’ll have a long(er) wait.

2022-01-20I am completely done with this office. Last week i showed up to my appointment that they confirmed and they told me when i showed up that the dentist was out for the day. I had another appointment for today and the receptionist told me sometimes they randomly cancel appointments without telling anyone. Completely unprofessional outfit i’ve been trying to get my cavities drilled here for the past year. they are horrible. i’m so done.

2022-06-16First of all, I am petrified of needles. Essentially, because of this, I have avoided going to ANY dentist for almost a decade. I had a tooth break almost 7 years ago and Ive allowed it to get worse and worse, but with a friends encouragement I decided to finally address it before a potential infection. I was shaking. I was crying. This staff was sooooo incredibly polite, patient, calm, efficient, respectful, thoughtful... there just arent enough words to express how incredibly impressed I was. I was in and out in less than an hour, tooth FINNNNALLLLLY removed. (Yes, of course I had some pain with the three novicane needles I needed...) This place, this staff; incredible. I cannot thank them enough for putting 7+ years of an unnecessary dental issue to rest. THANK YOU!!!
