The BBQ is good. Really good, and thats coming from a southerner. I order the pulled BBQ pork quesadilla almost every visit. For $8.99, you cant go wrong. Its an impressive portion, and I always have leftovers. The other BBQ dishes, bang bang shrimp, and mussels are excellent. Ive enjoyed most of the food tried here. So, thats the good. Now for the needs improvement category. The interior hasnt changed over the years even as the name and owners have changed, but its functional. As others have noted, the outdoor areas have seen more improvement. The staff is friendly, although not that attentive. Locals definitely receive priority attention at the bar. The beer selection is minimalist for drafts, but the cocktails are decent. Prices are fair. All in all, Top of the Bay is surprising for the quality of the food and the impressive BBQ.
Fun atmosphere, nice view, and incredibly fresh food. We learned that the owner is also the chef which was just an added bonus. Only issue... The menu is on the wall and if people are sitting in front of that wall you cant see the menu 😂.
I was just reading reviews and noticed something deeply disturbing. One review from a Danielle Pierone (aka KAREN) decide to bash this small business and try to ruin an they’re image over a water bottle that she couldn’t bring in. SO, with that being said. I can’t wait to give this place more of my business as long as we can keep entitled trash like her out. This business handled that review so well and people like her are the reason why you can’t bring in the water bottle. Honey, We know it’s vodka in so take your sorry story on how you are trying to recycle somewhere else. I wanna stress i have no affiliation with business but I’ve worked in the hospitality industry that I’ve had enough of it. Also, food and atmosphere are great!
We got some pizza and wings. Thr food was good but The price was a little high. They were dog friendly. They allowed us to eat outside with our dog, instead of leaving him in our boat. They also have boat docking in front of the restaurant.
The best customer service in the bay. We didnt eat there, but the hand crafted drinks were amazing. The view of the municipal dock on the outside deck is the best in town. Definitely a must stop of youre in A-Bay.
Excellent flavours in the food! Hand crafted beverages were wonderful. Server very knowledgeable and helpful. Lovely outdoor patio. Highly recommend!

We have been coming here for years. Location is the best with outdoor seating right bext to the water/docks. Drinks are slightly overpriced. Food prices were ok but food was only satisfactory.
Stopped in here for a nightcap. Sat on the top deck looking over the marina. Very nice. Enjoyed their signature cocktail and the service was great. Cool place.
We wanted to try this place for lunch, not they dont allow anyone under 18 in! Thought this was a bit excessive considering it was the early afternoon. We were disappointed, Tex Mex sounded good and there werent any other Mexican options. Too bad they lost our business just because we had children with us.

Rare and great find after our boat tour of the Boldt Castle. I can’t believe how delicious this BBQ restaurant cooked up. I am not a fan of mac n cheese, but theirs was delicious.

Great location and BBQ. Decent service. Theres a slight dichotomy between their eating rooms where the outside looks posh and new, the indoor looks a little outdated.
Even during these tough times they are still able to make delicious food and phenomenal drinks! Im glad to have them around

Stopped here for lunch on 4th of July and had a great time. Good amount of gluten free options. I went with a chicken rice bowl and it was delicious. I also tried the famous A Bomb drink and it was great. There was some live music as well. Nice views of the bay.

2021-09-27Excellent customer service by the young man with black hair. He did everything on his tablet faster than I see most servers use pen and paper! The food came out fast and delicious! We all got something different from tacos to bowls to burritos and it was all very good! The beer is actually reasonably priced here too 🍺 The restaurant sits on a rooftop over looking the bay and has shaded seating its a wonderful spot to bring tourists!

2022-07-04Food: Mexican cuisine. Small menu, which is how I like it. Everything we ordered was delicious.Ambience: On the terrace, with a sectioned area under a tent. Great views. Live music on Sundays. It can be windy,Service: was very good. Consistent follow-up to see if everything was okay.Time: we were approached immediately and consistently taken care of. We spent more time enjoying the view into the bay and the food.

2019-07-22Nice little place over the water. Small menu, but decent food. Drinks were good but small. Wait staff was great!Note that this place is only upstairs, and is on a outdoor patio. Not fun during wind and storms!I recommend a try.

2021-08-07Got here at 9:45 and the kitchen closes at 10. The waitresses were 10/10 (thanks Tini). They were motivated to get our order in vs being annoyed because of our tardiness. We’re from the city and realized a little late everything closed at 10. Did I mention the tasty burritos and generous tacos? Plus the margaritas are on point. Not too sweet. Yes please!

2021-06-22I normally never leave a review but our appetizers came out with our dinner. Bartender made us wait until she was done on her phone and having a conversation with three men, before taking a drink order. Our dinner was not as ordered. Before finishing we were brought the check. This place makes you feel like you’re inconveniencing them.

2020-09-10Atmosphere is very nice, staff is amazing. They have live music most of the time. Although it is on the pricey side.Ive tried the chicken burrito twice now and each time Ive had it, it was either warm and cold in the center or just barely warm. For the price of the food you would expect it to be well cooked.

2021-08-29An outdoor bar upstairs offers a great view of the public docks and other venues. Drinks seem a bit pricey at first until you realize the pours are heavy.
