Top of The Rock in other cities:
Best view of NYC from “The Top of the Rock”! Better than the top of the Empire State plus, not as long of a wait to go in or to get around! Can see awesome views of Central Park and the city scape! The Elevator ride up was very cool with its music and lights!! Awesome time would be at sunset time m!
One of the best decisions we took on our trip was to come here. We didn’t want to go to the Edge as is too high and massive. The Top of the Rock is classy and has the best views. You are high but at the same time not so far away to feel you are not part of the city and you can enjoy views of the downtown and Central Park. I enjoyed the best sunset of my life
A great experience! We decided last minute to take the journey up and the wait was small! We got in very fast and it was an easy way up. Security was very kind and everyone greeted us on our way up. It was the views that truly impressed us. Absolutely stunning. If you are looking to really see all of Manhattan, this is the best place to see it. The glass panels make it extremely easy to enjoy the view without anything getting in the way. We could sit up there for hours.
Top of the Rocks allows you to the top floors of the stunning art-deco masterpiece, The Rockefeller. We were using the GoCity cards, and the entry was easy, although slightly confusing for which line to queue when you’re outside the building. Perhaps a little signage could help.We then booked on to the next available slot and made our way through security and up to the observation levels. In comparison to both One World Observatory and The Empire State Building, the introduction and information on offer before you head up in the lifts is particularly weak, with just a few rooms and doesn’t really give much of an insight into the history of the beautiful building. However, this is soon forgotten when you get to the top and see the views. We went up at night, and it was spectacular. New York is particularly beautiful at night, and spotting incredible sights all lit up really did make you appreciate the city. If you’re not planning to go up The Empire State Building, then the best way to see it is at Top of the Rocks, as you’ll get an uninterrupted view. It’s certainly worth visiting this iconic building and travelling up 70 floors to experience a different view of New York.
Incredible, breathtaking views across NYC. An absolute must visit for anyone visiting. Tickets are a little pricey but absolutely worth it. Other than passing through security where lines can get a little long, it was a smooth experience taking the elevator up to the top. Multiple floors are available for photos, one indoor and one outdoor, and food, drinks and merchandise are all available at reasonable prices (at least for tourists). Worth every penny!
Loved this view there are 3 decks, the top one was the best it was nice and open up there. Your right in the sky line but there is a nice distance between the other buildings. Entrance was the red carpet on the north side of the building. Staff were friendly and it was close to MOMA and St. Patrick’s Cathedral also the Atlas stature. This was one of my favorite city views.
Having visited the Empire State Building a good few years prior, we decided to visit the Top Of The Rock, where compared to the Empire State Building, in our view, the Top Of The Rock of the rock knocks it out of the park for views. On a clear sunny day you can just make out the Statue of Liberty all the way up to central park, Harlem and beyond. The top floor open to the elements gives the best views, we opted for the fast pass where although expensive, recall allowed visiting times between 12pm to midnight, where this allows easier planning of your day, by that if you have to organize kids you can meander over to the building during that 12 hour period, and the fast pass / tour guides takes you straight to the front of the elevator quews.
Pricy experience, you basically pay just to go up and take pictures. View is stunning, probably the best rooftop to take pictures. Quite crowded, there is a long line at the bottom as elevators have limited capacity but it moves fast enough. With VIP tickets you can skip that queue but you will end up on the same terrace where everyone else is, which is packed.
The most incredible experience I had in New York. I loved every second we were up there. The views were absolutely breathtaking, especially on a lovely clear day like we had! I would highly recommend this observation deck, the views of the Empire State Building on one side and Central Park on the other were incredible.
On a clear day, this is the best view in New York. You see the whole island, with Central Park to the north and the Empire State building and the Battery to the south. Its a better view than from the Empire State Building and often less crowded. The tickets are timed, dont show up more than 5 minutes early or late. Make sure you check out the Art Deco magnificence of the Rockefeller Center afterwards. Recommend.
The front desk told us they dont accept groupons (as its a third party seller) but the lady was nice enough to let us in but be cautious with that warning.the view itself is what you would typically expect from an observation deck. nice view but crowded as you would expect during sunset times. note tickets around sunset time are an additional $10 on the website. recommend going around 7:20pm for a 8:00pm sunset. also, if you wanted front row viewing spots, make sure to stand on the side of the sunset around 15 mins before the sun sets as people tend to camp near the windows and on the side of the sunset (so if youre short, good luck seeing through that crowd)
360 view from the top is amazing! There are 3 viewing levels and its probably best to go straight to the top one. Lower ones have glass around but are also less crowded so up to each preference. The only thing I didnt like was you have to stand in the big queue for fake green screen photos, even if you dont want them. Why is it done this way?
Well worth visiting at sunset/night. The view was spectacular. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Price is fair. They have a couple short information videos that play while you are waiting for a lift. These were interesting but other than that you are just paying to go to the top for the view.I would say if you are only able to do one observatory/view point while visiting NY I would probably recommend ESB over this as there is a little bit more to see and do as you go up through the building.
Ticket ordering was easy and the wait was not too long. I was very nervous about going up so high, but after a brief bit of anxiety, it wasnt so bad. The elevator ride has you up to the top in something like 40 seconds, so if you freak out and want to get down you shouldnt worry about being stuck up there for an hour. There are some amazing views. 2 tickets cost us a little over $80 dollars. At the top, there are .50 cent binocular view thingies with a small gift shop that also has a change machine. All the views are fully open with glass guards, (no roof) when you step outside. You can go up a second escalator that has no glass at all, just a 360 degree view of the city. Dress comfortably as it can get fairly chilly and windy at the top. You can leave the top whenever you are ready.
Best observatory. Its the prefect observation deck as it offers amazing upper , midtown, lower Manhattan views from top.I visited in the evening as it was sunny that day and I wished to spot beautiful sunset.Thankfully I did. It was beyond words. Such startling night views and amazing sunset views is to die for. They were following covid protocols strictly. Its worth every penny.I didnt want my night to end, just wanted to see this magnificent city from the top and forget all the chaos.
Amazing views of Manhattan from the 70th floor. Ticket starts from 40$ and it costs 10$ more at sunset time. I went early in the morning at opening time 9 am and had to stand in line for around 30 minutes.Tip: Take your earset and enjoy the audio guides offered on site. My favorite was the meditation stuff that nourished my soul in the middle of the concrete jungle of Manhattan.
This place absolutely amazing! A MUST DO!We paid extra for the express pass and it was absolutely worth it.We chose to go near sunset. Be warned... you could spend so much time here. Everything changes every couple if minutes as the sun goes down. We were here on 12/19/2021, it was a cold weekend add the wind up top...oh my! But do worth it!
The extended hours listed were not correct on the site. I believe the late hours start 12/17/21. We booked express tickets for 12/15 and didn’t make it in time to use them that day. We were able to swap the tickets out for the current date with no issue, no extra costs. I will say the express pass is worth it. You’re treated like a VIP once they see the pass. I can’t lie we enjoyed skipping to the front of lines and having elevator priority. The views were stunning to say the least. We enjoyed finding the items of interest from the map in the viewfinder. We went around the time of sunset hours and would visit at that time again.
We had a lovely time and enjoyed the great views. When we came by about an hour before our 11am scheduled tickets, we were a little dismayed by the long line. But we followed the directions and decided to return closer to our scheduled entry time. By then, the line had vanished. We presumed they were there to get same day tickets. We walked right in and were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. One of our party had limited mobility and uses a scooter and cane. We were were easily accommodated and directed to convenient elevator access for all floors. Went right up to the observation decks. Not too crowded and people moved around enough to share the views. The free, folded map was very helpful to get our bearings of the view. We shared one map for the group, so no need to take a bunch.
Fantastic experience! I thought about not doing it because its such a well know tourist place but actually, Im so glad we did! We paid a little Korean to go up and see the sunset which I would throughly recommend. We went up while it was still daylight and got one set of pics, then some of the sunset, which was beautiful, then we waited for about 10 mins and we also got some great evening shots of NYC. Definitely glad we went up.
It was okay. It cost about $40 to visit. I purchased a go pass with 3 attractions and saved a few bucks. I enjoyed the museum, there was an excellent film on the history of the building. There were 3 levels to view from. The top level was my favorite because it was unobstructed. But I also used my go pass for the Empire State Building. I kind of felt like I was viewing the same things. It was fine.
If you plan to buy the ticket using cash, you will be required to head downstairs and head to the counter.. You can ask for help because there are a lot restaurants downstairs near Ben & jerrys. Once your ticket is purchased head upstairs to wait in line and await for the attendant to announce respective time slots. If you have plenty of time head to magnolia for their amazing cupcake..
Do you like large sweeping views of the city? Aren’t afraid of heights? Don’t mind feeling like you’re flying high? Then this is the tourist spot for you!Bring your fam, friends, or even foes to the Top of the Rock for a semi-unique experience from the sky.I would suggest eating an edible or smoking a fatty before you go up so you get the full enhanced and cerebral experience. There are 360 views of Midtown, Downtown, Brooklyn, Queens, and Jersey. So there are multiple spots to take pics and selfies. They have a few five minutes films before you go up and you can take a picture on a steel beam to replicate the famous workers eating lunch picture.Overall this was a kinda cool experience that must be shared with ppl you actually care about.
An amazing experience and view. You take the elevator up to the 67th floor and can traverse another 3 floors to the top level. The views are incredible. The only downside is the price. It is very expensive considering you will probably be done after about 30 minutes at the top. They dont kick you out but once youve soaked it in you are ready to go.
If you’re debating which high building tour to take TAKE THIS ONE! The views are great, it’s A great value, you get to learn about the history of the building as well as the city. The staff was so friendly and nice and the views were almost entirely open air which during the late summer was great. No wait and you could see there’s plenty of capacity for busier periods so the wait wouldn’t be too long if it was busy. Absolutely would recommend this to anyone going
A brand-new interactive art experience, BUILDINGS AND BLOCKS will be on display at Top of the Rock January 10th through March 13th. The installation, inspired by the skyline and shapes of New York City as viewed from Top of the Rock observation deck, features three 23-foot towers, and 37 black and white-striped pieces resembling children’s building blocks. Visitors are welcome to play, sit and interact with the freestanding blocks while taking in the breathtaking skyline views of Manhattan. This exhibit is free to all Top of the Rock ticket holders.About BUILDINGS AND BLOCKS:Architecture and time. Planes and lines. Figure andground. Vibrant towers and scattered pieces. Energyand flow. The best open air 360° view of Manhattan, hands down! Only setback is the Chrysler bldg is obstructed (see photos). You can walk around both observation decks freely for as long as you like, which I appreciated. There are three 4min long historical videos to watch before you go up, if you like, and there are transcripts you can grab.
Such a fabulous experience, I mean, something you have to do at least once in your life. The view of the city is amazing, Central Park, the Empire State, even 5th Avenue with the tiny cars and people passing by!Its cold up there during winter, like *very* cold, so I would definitely recommend a hat, jacket and gloves. Totally worth it though!!!!!
Theres multiple high up floors that are accessible! They have parts with glass panes and without, indoors and outside, so that even people nervous about dropping their phones can easily take a great picture. You can stay as long as you like, which is quite comfortable given the large indoors area.Me, I booked a spot an hour before googles predicted sunset. Actually getting up to the top took maybe half an hour after entry because of wait lines before elevators and the bag control. I got there just in time to see NYC at day, and then waited for sunset. For me it didnt feel like a long wait.
Now if you should make a chose between Top of the rock and the empire state Building chose the second. The attraction, picture inside are fantastic. But it s true to see the city top of the rock is better.Last thing, the à city pass 5 attractions you could entry 2 time un top of the rock. The second is by night and it s 😍😍
Purchased the city pass and opted for the Top of the Rock observatory. Just like the Empire State Building I recommend reserving times for the first tour or at sunset. The city gets very hazy early to mid-day. Still get really good pictures, but they would be even better at those times. Nothing really bad to say about the tour. It’s pretty much what I expected. I do like the opportunity to go onto all 3 tiers of the observatory which is pretty cool. Each level has a photo opportunity with a great view.
A must go to plane when in Manhattan! From the best views of the entire city, to the amazing history, top of the rock is an icon of NYC. Tons of observatory spaces and 3 seperate floors of 360 degrees of the city makes this for unforgettable memories and photo opportunities. Things to note, it does get colder up higher and the winds are quite strong but especially on hot summer days this is much welcomed. Hope everyone enjoys this attraction in the wonderful and insane yet one of the best cities in the world.
The most Beautiful sunset I have ever seen. When I got there, the staffs are very friendly and helpful. They help us plan the time to get to the top of the building, the best time to see sunset. Although the visit time on the top of the building is only 15 mins, no one will let you leave. So, if you have enough time, you even could see the view from sunset to the night. It’s very awesome, the color of the sky changes very fast, keep you camera on and you will get some nice pictures. Plan you visit and check the weather before you get there. No one want to get there in a rainy day
Amazing views but overpriced and CLAUSTROPHOBIC. Oh my goodness it was packed the day I went and for some reason I could barely move without bumping someone. Price is also questionable, $40 for regular ticket and then $10 extra during sunset. But if I’m being honest other places are worthy of that $50 than this place. But to each their own, you’ve been warned.
Notable place, the building is not so impressive up close, an old skyscraper. The view from the top is fantastic and although the view from the top of the Empire State Building is greater, you can also see the Empire State Building from here. You cant take or set up a tripod here either, which is a big disadvantage for night shots.
I love Top of the Rock! The process to arrive at the top is streamlined and fun. While waiting to ride the elevator you can take in some very interesting history regarding the construction of Rockefeller Center. I love that guests only need to hop on one very quick elevator ride to get to the top. Once at the top there are three different floors for viewing.
Our experience there was uncanny and disgusting. In the peak of COVID the staff doesnt have an organized and safe way to get in and out the visitors, we were put into an elevator with barely 20 persons, all of us almost touching each other for how close we were. Also, therr was a wedding celebration in the top, and all the assistants, including the bride and the groom, werent using face mask! What is on their minds? The personal was rude to give instructions, an all that for 50 USD each.Dont waste your money, its an old building with a bad organization and careless for their visitors.
Another great rooftop experience. This one is neat because the upper section isnt surrounded by glass as most are, feels more authentic. NYPD chopper was circling around while we were up there which was pretty cool. 360 degree views to see all around Manhattan. Lots of room up top, doesnt feel overly crowded. Friendly and helpful staff, extremely clean facility. Tickets: We purchased the New York Pass, which gets you in but is not a reserved time slot. Walked in, they scanned and gave us real tickets (no wait or delays), and off we went. Vaccine cards checked as you walk into building. Be aware that after 1:45 is considered Sunset Visit and is charged an extra $10 even if you have New York Pass. Highly recommended
The booking was very easy, the queue went very fast, the staff was super nice and helpful. The views were great, there are 3 decks on top, so the highest one is really impressive. I only think it lacks the elegance of Empire State Building, if Id have to choose just one Id say go Empire.
My first high rise sky scraper visit in the US and I must say it was simply fantastic and would definitely recommend people coming to New York visit this place. One advise I would give is even if you’ve got the City Pass, reserve a time slot for your visit, helps a lot.
The views of the city are breathtaking! I was mesmerized by the views. I would definitely go back! I need to see the view at night time. It was an amazing visit. I don’t know why I have not being there before. It gets a little chilly up there, specially during this season. I’m glad I wore a few layers yesterday. They are requiring proof of Covid vaccine; I downloaded the nyc COVID free app. It’s great you can upload your vaccine card and photo ID and proof of a negative pcr test, so you don’t need to walk around with the actual card.
One of many skyscrapers for tourists to visit while in NYCThough it could be argued that Top of the Rock has fallen a bit short now that Edge is open, its still quite a view from the top.Though its not ideal for sunsets, it is ideal for the cityscape. You have a great view of Central Park and any of the other skyscrapers. Sometimes its more NY to have the Empire State Building in the picture as opposed to taking a picture from the top of it.Theres see-through window panes up on the open-air roof, along with IG-friendly vinyls imprinted onto it for all your photo needs.
If you want a great view of New York City, then check out Top of the Rock. Its an observation deck on to of Rockefeller Center. You can see the Empire State Building, the New Trade Center Building, Saint Patricks Cathedral, the Statue of Liberty, and Central Park. There are 3 levels to see the city. Tickets can be purchased in the lower level.
Visit at sunset for some awesome views of Midtown. It is not the tallest observation deck that you can visit, but it has an outdoor deck (which makes a big difference) and it is located right in the middle of midtown where you get the feeling of being in a concrete jungle. It is very expensive, but worth the money.
It has been an amazing experience being on Top of The Rock. Wonderful view of NYC can be seen from here. This observation deck has the best view of Empire state building, central park and Manhattan. Not have any sci-fi features like other new observation deck but best for those who want to see the NYC from a skyscraper. Overall lifetime experience it was.
Just WOW. Having been to all five observation decks in NYC, this one is the best. The views of the empire state building and central park are incredible. Normally you have to pay extra for going during sunset, but since I had the New York Pass I just scanned my pass and got entry right away. Going during sunset is so worth it since you can stay as long as you want once up there and get a day view, sunset view, and night view, depending on how long you want to stay. Make sure you go up the stairs once arriving off the elevator since there are two smaller floors which are much less crowded and have better views with no glass obstructing the view. I think each observation deck offers its own unique experience, but if I had to pick just one, this is the best in all of NYC.
Beautiful views, definitely worth visiting at least once. The photography service is not very good: they do a poor job of photoshopping the background. They even gave us a wrong link to download our photos, and we had to go back to get the correct photos the day after.Tip 1: Bring your vaccination card, otherwise youre not allowed into the buildingTip 2: If you use the photography service and they give a code to download from the site, check if the photos are actually yours before you leave.Tip 3: You can get the tickets for just over half the price if you do a little search.
Amazing observation! Great that it has an open part with no windows so that you could take proper pictures with no reflection.Important to say that it had different levels for observation so that you could have 360degree view of the city. Astonishing view to the midtown and Central Park! There is no limitation to the time that you can spend on the deck-advantage.Recommended as an observation! Deserves its cost. There was only one thing that bothered is that we couldn’t get tickets online - it just didn’t process. We had to buy tickets on spot.
The staff should be kinder and less stressed; there was a wedding taking place on one of the balconies and they didnt let the rest of the tourists go in there, one of the ladies guarding the door was very rude to me when I asked when could we go in and I think that was unnecessary; everything else was great.
Fantastic, panoramic views of Manhattan and beyond.I have a terrible fear of heights, which is usually triggered very easily, especially outdoors. I surprisingly had absolutely no problem at Top of The Rock. The elevator takes you to an indoor area (with a low ceiling) so you can stay here if you feel uncomfortable, and you can still get some great views from indoors through the windows. You can get back inside easily if you suddenly feel uncomfortable outside. Theres an escalator to the viewing platform on the floor above.Even if you have a timed ticket, you can still be in the line outside for quite a while, so be sure to wrap up in the colder months and make sure you arrive 15/20 kins before your ticket time.
This is my favorite observation tower in Newyork city , here you get to see the complete skyline closer view of Manhattan skyscrapers on one side and on other side the Central Park . Go to the top most floor to have an unobstructed open air roof deck view. On the 69th floor you will see through glass with open roof . The elevator ride is not so fancy like one world or the edge but the views are astonishing. Try to go in the evening before sunset so that you can see Manhattan in lights .
Loved every bit of it. Offers a breathtaking panoramic view of New York. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. Before you get into the elevator there’s a walk that takes you through the history of the building just to give you an idea of the engineering behind it and what inspired the naming. But even if you can’t follow there are small pamphlets they provide with most of the information about the building. The elevator was nice, fast and spacious. The top was transparent with a view of the cables and the distance from the top, as well as some projectors with some dramatic audio which was kinda cool. The entire trip to the top was only in some few seconds. There’s also a gift shop to get yourself souvenirs and before you get to the top there’s a photograph zone where they take your pics which you can retrieve at the top at a small price. All in all, it was a very nice experience. You get to view New York from above and I totally recommend it. Oh! And all Covid-19 protocols are observed and proof of vaccine and mask are required to access the facility
This place has one of the best view of the city. Others might be higher but it’s these iconic buildings you want to see. Top of the rock has a great view of Manhattan and beyond. If you pick the right time you have all the time in the world to enjoy the views. I was here at 19:00 and had all the space to watch and take pictures. At 20:00 it got way busier and it’s harder to even get to the edge.
Magnificent views of New York City in my opinion much better than going to the top of the New world trade center or The Empire State building simply because if youre at the top of those buildings you cant see those buildings! I really enjoy going right before sunset. Take your time. Theres no run. You get to see a beautiful sunset over New Jersey side of the river and then simply be patient and wait out the crowds. Let them thin a little bit and stay up there and really take in the views of New York City and everything it has to offer.
Great views facing south. Can get crowded as everyone wants the shotsNorthern views are better during the day as it faces central park. But nighttime its nothing but darkness. If the upper level isnt too crowded you can get unfiltered photographs as the glass partition in the lower levels mess with the camera.
Top of the rock was a great experience!!!It was really easy to book online and there are signs in the area that lead you to the experience. Getting tickets scanned and bag check was quick and efficient and the staff were lovely. There is a short wait to the lifts that take you up to the observation deck. The observation deck offers 360 degree views of the city and is great for seeing the iconic NYC skyline including the Empire State Building. Great experience!
Hard pass. One of the worst high-rise experiences of my life. The staff was rude, disorganized, and nearly non-existent considering that they were outnumbered by visitors seemingly 10,000 to 1. People were pushed and shoved around like chickens in a doghouse. The experience at the empire state building was exponentially better, so go there instead. And I encourage management to visit Chicagos Willis Tower and 360 observation decks to learn how to properly give people an enjoyable event. HARD PASS.
Fantastic observation deck. Right in the middle of the city with great 360 degree views. Went at night and wow was it beautiful. It isnt the tallest, but it was the best Ive seen. Staff were all polite and the overall experience and facilities were great. Would absolutely do it again.
Our Better Recommendation: Top of The Rock is worth the price of admission for the views. With its 360-degree, multi-terraced levels, it offers the best views of the city that never sleeps. Some may say others offer better views, but only this view centers the world famous Empire State Building against the ever-growing and impressive backdrop of Manhattan. From 850 feet, the brilliant chaos of New York City melts into a tranquil and delightful dance of people, lights, and cars. I think The Drifters were singing about this magical spot with Up on the Roof. -Tony
We took the private tour, and it turned out to just be the two of us and Brian (Bryan?) who was PHENOMENAL on this tour.He was a great guide, super knowledgeable and personable. It was like we were walking with friends. He gave his perspective on so many things that I really enjoyed. Seeing the Rainbow room was amazing and he showed us historic buildings out several of the windows. Not only was I impressed with the building and it’s beauty but our guide was awesome! Would definitely recommend this tour. The rooftop views are beautiful!!
Really good views of Manhattan in all directions. You can see central park on one side, and excellent views of the Empire State building from the other side, as well as One World Trade and even the Statue of Liberty in the distance. The lines we short and fast and it was not overly crowded at the top when we went which was nice. If you are interested in art or history I recommend combining this with the Rockefeller Center tour, which had a lot of cool info and details around Rock Center that you might otherwise miss.
Therere a lot of point of view in New York now, this one is truly amazing, maybe be the pre-view experience is a little old but the view is unbelievable on Manhattan (if its a sunnyday, the +10$ for the sunset hour is really worth because you have the view in daylight, sunset and night)
It is absolutely worth the $ for the Express pass. We showed up at 4:50 for the sunset, and were at the top in less than 10 minutes from arriving, and same with going back down. The general tickets have a line for security, the elevators up, and a long line for the elevator back down.
Worth it. Especially at night! Last boarding of the elevators is at 9:10 (they were strict about this). Note if you buy one of those landmark passes you need to reserve your time here.Elevator goes to 67th floor where you can take in the view both inside and out on the deck. Make sure to go up one floor to see an even better view from the panoramic deck. Also it’s worth it to spend some time in the lobby learning the history about the glory days of this famed landmark.
I loved the place, I loved the views and obviously I loved the pictures that I taken here, the entrance to the building actually is not expensive because the experience is unforgettable. From here you can see all Manhattan, the Central Park, the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and all the emblematic buildings and sites of NY.
Debi was a fabulous tour guide! When you arrive tell the doorman specifically what you are there for and insist to go in if you have a specific tour time (not just observation deck). He made us wait until 1 pm to go in for our 1 pm tour despite us explaining we had a 1pm tour time. Apparently he thought we were only going to the top of the rock observation deck. He was rude to everyone in line around us and made us late for our 1pm tour. He was a total jerk. However the staff inside got us to our tour as quickly as possible and were all super nice. That is why I have 4 stars. Debi was amazing to help us and was a great guide.
This is a very organized and efficient tour giving a great view of the surrounding city. Youre free to take your time looking, taking pictures, and even taking a break.I was skeptical, but my wife wanted to do this and Im sure glad we did.Id definitely recommend this to anyone new to or visiting the city.
Amazing 360 degree skyline views of the city, and a direct view from directly in front of the Empire State Building. $10 more to visit during sunset is well worth it. But, try and time your escape to just before the end of sunset, otherwise youll be caught in line with everyone else trying to get out all at the same time.
Poorly organized timed tickets entry. We arrived 10 minutes earlier only find out a huge queue which didnt allow us in time according their own policy of 15 minute wait. The employees are overwheled and in a terrible mood. Horrible experience. Either sell les tickets or have a better organization.
This is a great tour. At the NBC Studios you go up and have an amazing view of NY. Our day was dark and wet but it didnt deter us from seeing incredible views of everything around NY. You could spend hours just captivated by the beauty of what NY has to offer. Definitely would be back again one day and hopefully get some NY sunshine! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!
Naturally youre going to compare 30 Rock to the Empire State Building. Ive now been to both, and I think I prefer the Rock!Pros: culture and history of TV broadcasting, stores and restaurants on the first floor including the NBC store, same place where The Tonight Show, Late Night and SNL are filmed, cheaper than the ESB, and you get a fantastic view of the ESB, Central Park, and the sky. Not to mention you can also visit the skating rink outside.Cons: slightly shorter than the ESB, very sad view of the Chrysler Building.Best time to visit is sunset. That way you can the city during the day and the night! Seeing each tower turn its lights on one by one was seriously cool.
Great view as you get to see Empire State Building and a lot of Central Park. In the distance you can make out Statue of Liberty if you get a clear day. We he a 9.30am slot, however there was thick clouds, so no view from the top. The staff advised we can try again later that day, any time in the day and advised that the weather looked like it would clear around 11am. Sooo glad we waited and went up in the afternoon, no queues as well! View was incredible. If you have time and the weather isn’t great, wait it out, you have the whole day to go up!
The security guard on duty added to the great experience. Although he is security guard, he provided good hospitality on our visit there. He told me and my friend that there was a higher level to go to experience the view. I also saw that he went about to let other patrons know about this information as well. He also ensured that there was an orderly manner for the usage of the escalators. He clearly went out of his way to ensure all the customers have a good experience there. I can tell he is proud of his job.Even though he is a security guard, he provides the best customer service I experienced in my trip to New York City or maybe just the best in New York City. For the other shops and tourist areas, they are horrendous (not even average. Just unnecessarily rude).
In my experience, the best rooftop observatory in NYC. Placed in the iconic Rockefeller building, the entrance walks you through the history of the building, and the economic impact it had on so many. The observatory is at 67th floor, spread between 3 floors. Instead of having metal bars like Empire State Building, this place has glass barriers, making it visually much more appealing. The rooftop has stunning view of downtown and uptown (Central Park) NYC. There are some props setup as well for tourists to make pictures. The tickets are sold based on time slots, to avoid too much crowd due to Covid. At morning hours, there’s not much waiting, you can head to rooftop within 5-10 minutes.
Loved it and terrified. Beautiful views that day. It was not crowded at all. There are 3 different levels for viewing, photos or just hanging out. I appreciate all the glass on first level. It made me feel warm and cozy. Top level has no glass and area is much bigger. Upon arrival and leaving is very organized. Wait times for elevators were minimal. Its a must do!

2022-02-10I loved this entire experience. Staff were very helpful from start to end and the views! Oh the views were stunning and that was an understatement. Each of the 3 observation decks gives a new perspective and more photo opportunities.I am not a lover of heights but this building was perfect for seeing this amazing city without worrying about how high up I was.Highly recommend especially if like myself you love the Empire State building. The views are simply stunning.

2022-05-21This place offered some pretty amazing views of NYC. If you dont mind spending the money to go into this place, then it is pretty worth it. I definitely recommend scheduling your date and time before just showing up. We did spend a good 30 minutes in line waiting to get in. In all fairness, it was the weekend, the most popular time is right before sunset, which was around 7pm, and there was going to be an eclipse. Im sure if you book the same time any other weekend or weekday you wouldnt have to wait in line as long as we did. The elevator is pretty cool and the staff was very friendly. Cant wait to come back and experience it all over again.

2021-12-28There was almost no wait, the staff was friendly. Visibility was poor that day because it rained but it made for beautiful photos of the skyline and gave a magical look to everything. The gift shop was not too expensive although the selection was small. The elevator was fast, the bathrooms were clean, and although it was Christmas it was not too crowded. Even though it was Christmas it was not too cold. They followed the covid protocol strictly which is always a plus. Everyone was wearing masks and had to be vaccinated. Just check to make sure that any stores in the center that you want to go to are near the exit and are open otherwise you have to walk outside and all the way around. You are allowed to bring food and drinks and there are metal detectors. If you have a small bag you can go faster. Dont worry about wearing a belt its not a problem. Overall it was a great experience and you get to see all four sides of the city from multiple perspectives and multiple floors. It is wheelchair accessible. On good days you can see into Brooklyn and even the Narrows bridge.

2022-04-24Stunning view across the whole city. Would recommend getting up their early so it’s not so crowded. We arrived at 9am (first elevator up). There are three decks, all with little different settings, I liked the lowest and highest deck the most - but that’s just my personal impression. It’s also relative good for persons who are afraid of height as there is enough space and slowly reach the rim of the decks.

2022-06-19Day one of our trip to New York saw us head straight to The Top of The Rock observation platform. We arrived at 8.45am and the queues were already becoming long however, the entrance and ticket purchase process is sufficiently slick and before long, we were at the desk buying our tickets to go to the top. You do not have to buy in advance and do not lose out by not doing so.Access to the top is via a lift however, your ticket is not just for the viewing platform but there is also all the history of the building on display around the public areas. Take the time to stop, read and listen. As with all skyscraper viewing platforms they are not cheap but from the experience we had it is an absolute must and worth the cost. There are so many skyscraper options around the city it is hard to choose which one to do however, in my opinion based on my experience alone whichever ever you choose you will have a great time observing the city far and wide so don’t get too hung up on which one to do. In addition, it doesn’t have to be the tallest building in New York to get the views and have a good time although, they will all offer something slightly different I.e. viewing from the outside on an open level or enclosed in a glass structure. The Top of The Rock is glass enclosed walls but open to the sky.The weather on the day was perfect with bright blue skies and sunshine meaning our views were phenomenal. All areas of Manhattan, lower, mid and upper could be seen and even at a distance the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn. This was a spectacular way to start our day and trip to New York. Let the weather choose which day you go up a skyscraper as naturally, the better the weather the better the views.Once at the Top of The Rock it is very peaceful and safe and I would assume that even people that are not too good with heights would feel happy up here.Once you have finished at the top, head down and spend some time having a coffee and eats around the skating rink and gardens at the Rockefeller Centre taking in the sights at street level and skaters practicing their skills.Get there early and have a great time….. it’s a must if you are new to the city.

2022-06-05Must visit. The views from this building are extraordinaries. On one side you have in front of you the wonderful Empire State building surrounded by hundreds of other skyscrapers and on the other side the amazing central park. If your sight is good you will also see the Liberty statue far away.Entrance costs 45$ each but its so worthy. The elevator until the top has a transparent ceiling with turning lights so you can see how you approach with high speed.Once you reach that floor you can come out to the terrace but there’s another terrace above where you can get through a stairs.

2022-06-12This is a must see for any tourist in NYC. The inside of the building is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is extremely friendly and everything is very clean! But thats not the best part! You take a fast elevator ride up to the 67th floor and you exit the elevator to unforgettable and unmatched views of Manhattan. You can see the famous sights such as Central Park, Chrysler Building, One World Trade Center, Empire State Building, and so much more. Pictures dont do this place justice, you just have to see it for yourself!

2022-06-25Top of the rock was for us by far the best place to view New York. We visited all the others.... see separate reviews. I dont know if its because we visited later in the day and it wasnt as busy 🤔 but it had the most incredible views, especially the view of Central park. The gift shop was lovely, and not over priced either. I would highly recommend this attraction when visiting New York ( we had purchased the city pass, and this was included in that)

2022-01-01Definitely worth a visit. Before going up to the top of the skyscraper there is a small part where the story is told and there is a chance to take a picture with a green screen behind it (we didnt buy it at the end but it seemed to cost about 20$, on top of the ticket cost). The 360° view is priceless. Once you get to the top by elevator, you can walk up a few more levels and take photos from different terraces.
