Ate lunch here while I was up for a night, it wa s absolutely amazing. Had the red curry with chicken and white rice, nice spice level, and then followed it with Their Thai Coconut Pudding, I really couldn’t get enough!!!! Everyone there was super kind as well!! I can’t wait till im in NYC again because im heading straight there
Ive had better Thai in Phoenix. For $104.00, including the tip they so kindly included, then expected me to add another, the five of us shared 2 orders of spring rolls the size of Vienna sausages, 2 orders of chicken satay and an order of pineapple fried rice. Our experience with the service was not as bad as others experienced, but the expense for such a small amount of food was ridiculous. I only regret I didnt take pictures.I think the service was better because one of our party was using a walker and we requested to sit outside so he didnt have to navigate the stairs. The hostess seemed to be very concerned.
Lovely intimate setting that reminded me a lot of my favourite Thai place back home in Amsterdam. The food was delicious and definitely worth your money, the staff was nice and there was a nice soft pop playlist on that somehow worked quite well with the interior. Can recommend!
It was terrible from the very beginning . It was close to closing time but if they wanted to go home then they should not have sat us . We should have walked away but we really wanted Thai food . They barely wanted to take our order feeling rushed and stressed. The food was very good . I had to request water twice . Was never asked what we wanted to drink . Would have ordered more stuff and did not feel welcome at all . They were all running around like chickens with no heads . Never came back to ask if we were ok . They handed us the bill without even asking if wea Ted anything else . The whole experience from beginning to end was terrible . Do not recommend it … stay away !!! Go somewhere else where people like their job !!! If there was a negative one star I would have chosen that
If you are a person of color, do not come here. This restaurant is racist and the staff are very rude. They simply do not care. I went with my family for dinner and we were stopped outside while other “lighter skin” guests were sat. When we complained, they just told us that they’re busy. Would not recommend….RUN
Was seated immediately. Staff was mostly kind and friendly. Its good to call ahead for reservationsFood. Pad thai was good, not outstanding. Plenty of chicken..My husband had a beef salad. He enjoyed it. However there was minimal food. What found interesting, there was hot seeds in the honey, I enjoyed spicy jasmine tea.I would go back.
Excellent Thai restaurant in Midtown West. Food is flavorful and portions are big. They do not take online reservations but you can call and book a table. I have been here many times. My favorite are red curry, green curry, drunken noodle, pineapple fried rice, curry puff, green mango salad, coconut sticky rice with fresh mango when in season. Service is quick and place is always packed.
Great service and great food. We had the pad Thai and green chili soup. Both meals were amazing! The atmosphere is very romantic with low dim light and soft music. Keep in mind the rest room is located near the kitchen and its pretty short. Im 6 feet and I felt like I was about to hit the ceiling. Dessert was also really good!
The Chicken Satay and Dancing Chicken were great! We ordered the Fancy noodles, which were okay, a bit bland to our taste but not too bad. The Pad Thai couldve been better. A lot of aftertaste of fish oil in it. We also ordered the Spring rolls... The crispiness and quality was good though a bit more stuffing wouldve been good.Overall the ambience and service was great. Worth a try.
I really enjoyed my first visit to this Thai restaurant. The reviews were positive and I wanted to try with my friends. The service was friendly and the venue was clean with nice high ceilings on Sunset Blvd. we tried the Shrimp Pad Thai and Pad See Ew which were both excellent. I also tried the Thai ice tea which was not too sweet and delicious. I will return again when Im in the area.
The best boat noodles in Los Angeles, without a doubt. I also love their duck soup with egg noodles is one of my favorites, the broth is sooo rich and savory, with herbs and spices. For the first time, I tried the sweet and sour chicken with chicken satay that i ask on the side, and also ordered one more order to-go the chicken was overcooked by the time I got it home, but overall, this is a dish that is best eaten immediately away.
Our first time. my wife and i opted for all appies. mango salad, chicken sate, chive lover & pork dumplings, all fab and in that order of most fab. the rice chips with peanut sauce was a nice complimentary touch, and the house cab sauv and jasmine tea were quality. probably the most attentive service we have had during our week here. the total was $76 cad including tip, very reasonable for nyc standards. no doubt we will remember this place and return.
At over 2,000 reviews and 4.5 stars, it was about time I tried Hoy-Ka Thai Restaurant. I dont know if Id technically label this restaurant as being in Thai Town, but its certainly in very close proximity. On a Sunday night, it was pretty empty, perhaps due to the Super Bowl going on.
Every time my office chooses to order food from this place, it is the same story- doesnt matter how many times you tell them to make sure it is MILD- meaning NO JALAPENOS PEPPERS OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT MAKES IT HOT AND IMPOSSIBLE TO EAT!However, every time I take more than 2 bites, it sets my mouth on fire and my throat starts closing up and the rest of the food ends up in the garbage.Save your money and aggravation and just order some place else .
Ordered spring rolls and a chicken shrimp curry noodle special. The food was good but the chicken and shrimp curryhad two shrimp...yes, two...I felt the shrimp was a but of a garnish vs. an equal companion to the chicken. The noodles were literally clumped together; I asked for the rice noodles vs wheat noodles and they were all stuck together and overcooked. The flavors were good but the two shrimp and overcooked noodles made it just okay
The atmosphere of this restaurant was pleasant and the food is delightfully delicious. Ben and Sandy co-served us and were each welcoming and attentive to our needs. The set up was cute and thoughtful considering the pandemic and our wait time between us being seated and our food being delivered was minimal. Drunken noodles and Bangkok fried rice were our choices from the menu. They were both equally tasty and I look forward to visiting this restaurant again!
I recently visited this restaurant with the intention to have an amazing family dining experience. The restaurant aesthetic was simple on the inside and outside. Their food was tasty too, however simplicity and taste are not good enough reasons to say I REALLY enjoyed this restaurant. Based on my experience at this establishment 1 star is even too much. For starters, prior to visiting this restaurant I made a reservation 2 days in advance. After traveling a half hour with young children and waiting 10 minutes to speak with the hostess, I was told I never made a reservation. The minute I said Hi, I have a reservation I was cut off by the hostess and she rudely said I said no reservations. I said walk ins only. She did not even care to hear that I made the reservation 2 days in advance. I was told that we would have to wait 15 minutes for a table, which did not seem like much until it turned into 45 minutes! When we finally sat down, we were placed at a table for 7 when we had a party of 8. It was my mistake however the waiter RUDELY said I have no chairs. You said 7. I understood my mistake, however, there were plenty of chairs outdoors that were NOT being used. If the waiter truly cared about his customer he would have went outside and brought one in. After waiting an hour to be seated, the waiter brought some water and left for 20 minutes to help other parties that came in AFTER mine. When we call a waiter over, he was very rude. He was upset we were not giving him the order fast enough. At this point, it was clear that the restaurant LACKS customer service skills. The waiter later on brought out our meals at DIFFERENT times and one was MISSING. When we told the waiter he got very defensive and made it seem like HIS mistake was OUR fault. The last meal to come out was meant to be shared with a 5 year old. It was truly ridiculous.Upon leaving the restaurant, the hostess came back to speak with us. When I explained to her the initial reason for being upset, she said that she did NOT care and that she does NOT want us back at the restaurant. Before completing this review, I would like to mention how sanitary this restaurant is by keeping the customer restroom INSIDE the kitchen.Im truly disgusted with this establishment and I truly DO NOT KNOW how they are STILL in business.
The food at Topaz Thai is amazing! My office orders lunch almost once a month from this establishment and we have never been disappointed. Our go to dishes- Drunken noodles, Thai Fried Rice, Bangkok fried rice and the Coco Calamari.Today after work, I decided to have the dine in experience. Both Ben and Sandy who waited on us, did an amazing job. They were very polite, and Helpful when it came to choosing a different appetizer and bringing out our dishes, in a timely manner.I can’t wait to have the dine in experience again!
Ordered online for pickup. Easy process, ready pretty quick for a Saturday night. Ordered the spring rolls and drunken noodles. Spring rolls were mini and just average. Noodles had good flavor but the chicken was a little over cooked and tough. Overall, food was good and service was quick.
Gluten intolerant/celiacs beware. They said everything was gluten free on their menu if made w/ tamari instead of soy sauce (we called, asked the waiter, and asked the person who delivered the food to our table) so I trusted them. I ended up having to be taken to Lenox Hill by ambulance a few hours after eating and spent the night in the ER. Super sad this happened.
If you look at the menu you will see that Pad Thai cost 9-10 bucks. I ordered over the phone and went to pick it up and the owner tried to Charge me 15 bucks for each plate. When I told her the menu says otherwise, she said she does not care what it says and tried to shift the blame on customers. I left. The place should not be in business.
Really good spot with good vibes and seems to be popular. Started off with some pork dumplings, very flavorful. Chicken Satay was good, could have used a little more of the cucumber, carrot, and onion garnish. The roasted duck in red curry was fantastic with the sweet pineapple, spicy peppers, tomato, and onion. The skin on the duck was very crispy. The thick noodles were so tasty, they had such a great texture. Had a lemon drop, it was fine.
One of my favorite spots near central park. The food here has consistently improved over the last decade or so.I recommend being daring and ordering beyond the typical pad Thais and the like you may be used to from takeout Thai restaurants. Try their dancing chicken for a surprisingly filling and spicy mix of lean chicken. I have yet to order something I did not like. The portions are usually generous and I find myself taking a doggy bag home each time. Some food may taste sweet but the calories and sugar content are quite reasonable. It can feel quite cramped at peak time so beware of coming with large groups. It is close to Carnegie hall which also attracts tourists.
Pleasantly surprised! After reading some SERIOUSLY mixed reviews I was worried that I made the wrong restaurant choice for a quiet reunion with two of my coworkers. When I entered, the restaurant had about 7-9 people eating their dinner. It was dark but not too dark and there was some music playing in the background. Around 7:30pm the place started to pack up but I never felt like the waiters were being inattentive. I had the pad see ew with shrimp and it was so good. Perfectly cooked and the shrimp actually had flavor! Their presentation was very clean and nicely done. I would definitely return! It was a nice little spot, good service and delicious and affordable food.
Not authentic, dont try their special menu. I had the green curry fancy noodle has a strange combination of vegetables that do not mix well with the curry (too hard and crunchy). And we had to wait almost an hour for this dish. My friend dried a fried rice and that tasted much better.
What a wonderful experience. We tried three dishes and each one was full of flavors that I can say are some of the best I have experienced. Having been to Thailand our expectations are high but I havent tasted anything this authentic West of the Atlantic. Nice setting too!
The service was fast. To fast!! They rush you in and out in 20 minutes. The food was ok, not near as good as food in Chang Mai. The service was rude. We paid in cash, and due to being rushed like an animal in and out of the feed trough, we did not feel like leaving a large tip. We had our tip returned to us by the server and she told us we owed her 18% tip. I asked her if tipping was volunteer? She got mad and said, “So you leave no tip?” I said that is correct and we left. She could have kept the tip we left when paying the bill. But she was rude and greedy!
The place overall is very average. Its very small and they have bad service. To start, the water glass I received had lip marks. Incomplete orders, took forever to get one dish and didnt clean up the dirty plates even when the table was cramped and small. They werent attentive, had to request for water refill and serving spoon for dishes. Also had to pay extra for rice- seriously!!! Only positive thing to say is the Golden nest was the only good dish. Overall Very Disappointing! Also not good for families with kids. Bathroom doesnt have a changing table.
Nice little place. Great thing to get is the papaya salad. Fried rice and curry was delicious. People have been claiming its not authentic. I dont really get that. Food was still good likeeee. Service was friendly, dining room was clean. Was pretty small so Id suggest dont bring more than 4 people. Maybe theyre saying its not authentic cause they do play American pop music. But like, mid 2000s pop lol
Simple yet elegant Thai food close to Times Square! Food was delicious! Restaurant was a little cozy, but the owners seem to have opened a second location 2 fronts down from the original (the newer one has much nicer decor and a bit more space but it is still a small restaurant). The staff were friendly but after our entrees were delivered he never came back to refill our water. Overall great food for a very reasonable price for the area!
Best of the best. The green curry is to die for, we come here every week. Have tried most of the many Thai restaurants in Hells Kitchen and Midtown, and this is definitely our favorite. Do not go to their sister restaurant next door (Topaz Noodle) - completely different menu and its not good.
Small place with a decent amount of seating. We were greeted and seated quickly. Very dark in regard to lighting. Very limited beer selection (they only have one type to choose from). We had a Singha beer, Thai iced tea, calamari, and green curry with chicken. The calamari was great. It had a mayo and siracha sauce dip. The green curry was great and not too spicy (my preference). The dish came with very little rice. Staff was OK but friendly.
Food is not authentic Thai but fine. Lunch specials arent that special (or cheap) when nothing is included with your entree except for a plastic bag filled with fried rice chips that nobody wants. The website says salad included, which would be nice, but apparently thats wrong and they havent bothered to update that. The amount of food is generous though, so I guess thats the trade off.
My wife went there for lunch and ordered the Chicken Green Curry with white rice. They said it would be spicy, but it was more sweet and salty. 30 minutes after the meal she felt ill, vomited, and had diarrhea. She was perfectly fine prior. We called the restaurant to inform them, and they seemed very apathetic to our complaint. Whoever answered the phone did say that hell inform the chef. 2.5 stars for poor taste, negative stars for food poisoning. People have lives, jobs, and families to take care of. Please be careful when serving food!
Apparently coming here on a Friday night we get a seat waiting for us. Lucky me.Service is wonderful. When my eye meet the waiters, he knows what I needed. Opening the menu and I suggest you go for the swimming duck. Its a bit expensive but I feel the calling. The duck is destined to be my dinner. I was not disappointed at all. The sauce and flavour is at 110%. My gf got an normal noodle dish but she still finished it to the bottom.
Intimate and located near our hotel, Le Porter Meridian, on our way to the theater, we walked in without a reservation and got the last open table. The food was excellent and not expensive. I loved my Tom Yum Shrimp soup and my mild-plus minced chicken entree (forgot the name) included basil leaves and Chinese broccoli beside a mound of brown rice. My companion loved her green curry dish with chicken and a plump helping of avocado slices. We had no idea this restaurant is so well-regarded -- it was just convenient on a rainy night to two tourists with sore feet! Two suggestions: please add eggplant choices to the menu and keep refilling customers water goblets.
I often take my friends to this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The the food there is yummy and the team is very friendly and cooperative. always when we visit this place we have a pleasant evening. I recommend this place with pleasure.
New Topaz Thai is as good of a Thai place as you can get. Not only are the options absolutely delicious, but they are super affordable as well! The meal starts off with complimentary shrimp chips and peanut sauce, a nice touch that a lot of Thai restaurants lack. I ordered the green curry with chicken and it transported me back to my travels in Thailand. Very authentic! The curry was a nice portion, and was very savory.Great for friends and family! I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back in the future.
Our group of five made a reservation at the restaurant in person, hours before our arrival, one Saturday evening in December. We arrived on time but the host questioned whether we had in fact made a reservation because we werent on his handwritten list. After running around for a few minutes checking with his staff he found our reservation on the back-side of his list. After a wait of 15 minutes were were seated in this very crowded restaurant. We ordered a duck dish but were told they were out of all duck dishes even though a duck dish was listed as a special that evening. The dishes we ordered were fine but we were disappointed at the lack of our favorite duck dishes. After were received our bill we found that they had charged us for coffee that had not arrived. As we left we saw that patrons on several tables were enjoying duck meals. We returned to question the manager who told us that a fresh supply of duck had just been delivered. Not sure this was the truth. We have been to this restaurant several times over the years and enjoy the food but it is very small and the tables are very closely spaced. Try to go in off-peak periods.
Very disappointed in the food. We ordered four appetizers and three main courses. All the dishes were very sweet. Seems like they have a house sauce they use in all their dishes. All the dishes tasted the same Absolutely no spice, tartness or garlic in any of their food. We ordered the Pad thai and the whole fish with the sauces. All sweet tasting. Not authentic Thai at all. This restaurant is off my list.
One of the best Thai place in the city, went there on a Christmas Eve, the ambience was good. The price are good too, I tried Drunken Noodle with Thai papaya salad, which was adding to the taste. It was amazing experience, I would recommend to try it and would turn out to be your favourite place.
I tried to love this place, but all 4 times Ive gone, theres been at least one issue. Last time I went, I came with a party of 7 late at night on a monday when the restaurant wasnt even 1/3 full. We wanted to split the check, but they said they couldnt do that. They wanted to make sure they got their 18% gratuity. Between lukewarm food, bones in chicken, grumpy/unresponsive staff, and forgotten orders, I wont be going back anymore. Its such a shame because their food was very good.
Revamped menu from an year ago.. We moved away from the area and visiting after 7 months and the entire family wanted to to eat at topaz...We loved the dishes we ordered.. We are spring rolls, Bangkok fried rice with chicken, green city with beef, drunken noodles, chicken with bail and chili sauce and tomyum soup.. Ask the dishes were great. The serving staff is new and are slow to respond. We ordered some dishes for take out and they brought them in plates and had to be sent back to repack. All the food we ordered was not in the bag and we didnt check before Irving and had to return for a fish which we really wanted..So more work to streamline is neededFood is awesome and I would go back again
Fast service, insanely quick, good if youre catching a show or perfomance nearby at Carnegie Hall etc. and are trying to make a curtain time, or to get back to the office for lunch. Priced very reasonably for midtown. The curry peanut sauce in the beef dish I ordered was very savory with just enough heat. Ill be eating here again.
The service was horrible and food was also not so great. I ordered spicy Bangkok fried rice but it wasn’t spicy at all. When I asked them to make it spicy or order something else they said they can give hot sauce but can’t change or exchange it. The server was really rude the food quality wasn’t great. I have been here before but the quality has gone down.
We had dinner a few weeks ago. Ordered Tom Yum Shrimp which was excellent while the Pad See Ew and other foods were less so. The worst part was when the waiter came up and demanded 15% tips because he said I only gave 10% which ai thought was fair based on their services. It was not pleasant.
Vegetarian reviewWarning: This Thai restaurant is NOT vegetarian friendly. They basically make a concoction of their curries without any curry paste since they all contain fish sauce in them. The food you order will be tasteless and sweetish from all the caramelized onions. The manager was honest enough to tell me the details.
I was looking for something different to have for lunch today. I was craving thai food. Something spicy! I ordered the spicy fried rice with pork. Nice heat, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the pork was tender. I called my order in over the phone and picked it up at the restaurant. Ill be back forsure! Maybe tomorrow.
Ive only tried the Giant Spare Ribs at Topaz but that one particular dish is incredible. Nice juicy tender ribs. My colleagues have tried a few of the other dishes and the consensus among us is that theyre awesome! If youre around 56th Street, definitely give it a try.
Not worth it. Really tiny space, so theres a feeling of being rushed. The staff is pushy, and seems upset if you dont order enough. Hello? My $97 meal indicates I didnt need more. I ASKED about the sticky rice, and all of the sudden it became an order. The food was okay, but overall a poor value.
The place is clean and cozy but the food very subpar, I ordered the drunkard noodles and muss. curry .... I am going to attach photos; view the noodles, it was cut in a mess way and the flavoring applied very unevenly ... probably due to the noodles being cold and lumped together, and the curry, take a look at the salad ... quite paltry and just lacked neatness ...
I used to love, love, love this cozy restaurant and I still like it but my favorite Thai dish - peanut curry chicken wasn’t as flavorful as it had been. There was a time when I used to compare all other Thai peanut curry chicken to Topaz’s dish. Sadly not anymore, My replacement is Pongsri on 48th and 8th Ave- seriously o frills but quick, cheap and quite flavorful! My restaurant companions enjoyed their vegetarian pineapple fried rice and chicken pad Thai - immensely. Order your Thai ice tea without ice and request a small glass of ice. They have a nice appetizer- crispy chips and peanut sauce. A little chinzy on the portions but quite tasty. Moderately priced.
A wonderful, tiny little restaurant near to Carnegie Hall. In fact, my partner and I go before evenings at Lincoln Center. The decor is a bit dark, but its cozy and inviting. Ask to sit in the window seat and watch people head to City Center or Carnegie Hall. I recommend the drunken noodles- the best Ive tasted in the city.
My Bill was for $35.93 and the restaurant charged me $42. Now I see from where they getting their revenue.I would recommend everyone to check their bill and bank statement after every visit to this particular restaurant. And the worst part, the staff was so arrogant and unhelpful.

2022-04-03Amazing underground Thai spot. Quick service, delicious food and fresh ingredients. They will go the extra mile to make you happy.Drinks are good and quiet fancy. From the soup to the salad to the appetizer - every dishes made special.I really recommend the Tom Yum soup (I asked to make it less spicy for myself) and Crying tiger steak.Insider trick: they have table for two at a private cabin by the window - highly recommend to book it in advance.

2022-05-27The food was great. The problem is the staff. Our waiter was rude and the sad part is I dont think he knows hes rude. He rushed us to order and only took one persons drink order and when he returned we told him we werent done with ordering drinks and he put his hand up as one would do to indicate well what do you want and rushed my 9 year old to order. Mind you we were the only customers in the restaurant at this time. Then after leaving a 15% undeserved tip he had the audacity to reprint the receipt and say that we needed to give a more than 20% tip. It was only 3 people if your thinking we had a large party, nope. Very unfortunate, lost a customer.

2022-06-16I ordered the chicken pad thai. But what I got was a dry flavorless entree with barley any chicken. The whole entree was just dry noodles. Please see photo for proof. In addition the lime was missing. What also I also received was a tiny bity cup of peanut sauce and a cheap plastic fork. Please see photo for proof. Dear management please dont be cheap and put some love in cooking your food and service.

2022-03-26Been back for the first time since covid and it was a very disappointing experience. I remember the service wasn’t stellar to begin with but it’s way worse now. They first made the mistake of sitting other parties ahead without realizing I’ve been waiting first. My order took awhile and when it arrived it was wrong. when I asked for the check, they charged me for the more expensive wrong menu item. I’ve asked them for correct and they disappeared till I was done with my food and then some. Had to ask three different servers to get my check and it was still wrong. When I tried to explain what an awful experience I had the manager told me to “calm down”. Then they made a big fuss about giving me a discount. At the end they gave me the same check I asked to correct.I paid for the full meal plus 20% tip, a small price to pay to say I’d never be back in this sorry joint. There are plenty of great Thai places in NYC. This experience wasn’t worth it for the mediocre pad Thai they served me. Try elsewhere.

2021-09-30Great ambience. Super tasty food. Enjoyed every bit of it. The free starters that they serve is a must try! 😃😃Highly recommend for Thai food lovers!
