Tops Friendly Market in other cities:
I went in there and witnessed over 17 people not wearing masks. One male and female who had two young kids in a stroller (all not wearing masks) were coughing on the produce wiping their noses the picking up things and putting them back down. Same thing with alot of the meat products. This was about a hour ago. The manager Phil didnt seem concerned about it and said they are allowed in without masks even after I informed him of what they did to the un packaged produce. I highly recommend you go there if you wish to kill you family because tops dont care about your health only your money.
Quite possibly the seediest Tops in all of Buffalo. Guaranteed to have only 1 person working the cash register and only 1 person working in customer service - all with a store full of customers on a busy Friday night. The logic behind this must be hidden in hell. They must require the management skills of a raisin to be able to run the store. Wegmans puts this place to shame, Tops could NEVER
It has less choice than other Tops. It is a lower income area so that is likely why. The staff is friendly except for one lady in the carry out cafe when I asked for condiments. She is pretty rude and I avoid that area completely when she is there. It is kept up well. I wish the prices were more competitive.
This store has 9/10 items grocery wise. Tons of selection. Prices on some things there run a bit steep. They have a self-checkout, which is great if you only have about 12 items and dont want to wait in line for a while. They also have a coinstar for getting rid of change and a front office where you can play the lotto, pay bills, wire money, etc.
This place what to say. except they have the city in a grip only real grocery store in city and prices are to high. They have fifteen check out lines and only two open. Its ridiculous, I went to get three items and was in check out line for half an hour before I got to cashier. On another visit was in line so long my ice cream melted and that was all I came to get. DONT GO unless you have no other plans.
Ive always loved this Tops!! Been shopping here since I was a child, maybe 35yrs now?! Anyway, the store is always clean, neat, well organized- its very easy to find exactly what I need and although some of the staff could use a few people skills, theres always a manager willing to help when a problem arises!!
Sent my son and nephew to a aisle to grab chips for me as well as my nephew looking for phone charger manager jessica going tell them show her what they have in they hands then say to them make sure you stop at register to purchase as if cause they black they have to be stealing or cant afford to shop or purchase things made complaint to store manager nothing was done very unprofessional to be supermarket welcoming all
Recently went into your South Park location, and needed some steaks and other various meats for a winter cookout with a bunch of friends. Your butcher, or whatever the proper terminology is was amazing! His name was Scott and I just want to let you guys know, you hired a good one! Tell that kid I said hi, Ill be back for sure!
I have to agree with the comments that are negative. I live close to this Tops and this is the one that I frequent. I find the store an abomination. The cashiers will argue with you when they are in the wrong and the managers are also the same. I had an experience recently I went to this Tops with my daughter and instead of the cashier opening up a register she commenced to chat with her friends and when this was addressed lied and said she didnt say what she had. The manager was informed that the bathroom was atrocious instead of apologizing argued about whose fault it was that it was in the condition it was in. This is the worst Tops I have been to. It is a disgrace. There are never enough registers open. It just sucks the big one and not in a good way. If you have a car and are able to go to another then do yourself a favor dont go to this one. I neglected to say the one positive thing about this store is the deli section employees they are helpful and dont have the same attitude as the cashiers. This is the one positive thing about this store.
This location is on my way home, so I (used to) swing in.I happened to do a full-cart shopping one eve on the way home. The store was really busy so I didn’t expect to get in and out quickly, but... After waiting in the check-out lane for nearly 25 minutes, I ditched my cart (as did the guy in front of me..!) and left. The woman checking out in front of him needed infant formula. Her order was completely totaled and bagged, and she was waiting for a store employee to bring the formula over from where they keep it locked up.Again, the store was busy, but come on...! 25+ minutes..?!?I understand infant formula has a high rate of theft, and thus it’s kept locked up, but there HAS to be a better solution. The young woman was embarrassed, the cashier was also uncomfortable, the guy in front of me had already unloaded his entire cart onto the conveyor belt, and I would have gone to another line but the ones that were open all had 3-5 people already in them, and soon there were 2 people behind me.The guy in front of me turned around and informed me he had already been waiting nearly 10 minutes when I got in line.Perhaps they could have FINISHED her grocery transaction, started cashing out the guy in front of me, then when the sacred formula arrived the cashier could have scanned her out quickly and then done my order, (although we stood there for so long he could have scanned out 4 or 5 people!).I’m a business owner. I probably had between $125-$150 worth of groceries in my cart, as did the guy in front of me. After 20-25 minutes without moving, he ditched his cart and I followed about 30 seconds after him (... and apologized to the cashier as I said, “This is ridiculous, I’m done”). I also apologized to the 2 people who were still standing behind me - and moved my very full cart aside.Tops lost my sales and the guy in front of me - and had to pay employees to put everything back. Not sure if the people behind me bailed - or had saintly patience to wait for the formula to appear, and then for the conveyor belt to get cleared.Am I surprised they’re filing bankruptcy? Nope.Horrible, horrible business practices.I went home, cooled down and called the manager a little later. He apologized but didn’t seem to think Top’s “make-everyone-in-line-wait-while-we’re-super busy-and-take-forever-to-get-locked-up formula” policy was non-productive.Really? You don’t think you should re-visit that policy? Huh.If the infant formula is locked up over by the office, how about having the customer get in line by the office, (where they do banking, utility payments, lottery, etc...), and have them purchase the formula THERE! They can even take their carts full of purchased, bagged groceries over with them - there’s room!I still like Tops, but now drive past the one on South Park, drive past my home, and go to the one in West Seneca. If I ran my business this way I’d probably be filing for bankruptcy too.
Terrible service, rude employees, bad management and close proximity to a public high school makes this place chaotic and a general bad idea to visit. My entire extended family drives outside the city to other Tops or Wegmans to avoid this location despite living one block away. That should give you an idea of what the experience here is like. Also should speak to the reason the place has never really been a success as far back as I remember and is closed early or on strange days when some other Tops locations are open later and on holidays.
Worst customer service around. manager seems like she has worse people skills then cashiers. and not mentioning names but theres one short girl thats a day time cashier her name starts with C n she treats customers absolutely horrible n makes paying customers that have been going there for 30- years considering wegmans. She was takin off the register for along time for rude behavor n vulgarity but for some reason management feels to put her bavk on again n now shes even worse!!! SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIRE HERE!!!
Definitely not a top notch Tops. The bathroom is always deplorable. The last time I stopped in to buy a drink and use the restroom there was no toilet paper, no toilet covers, not even any soap and the room was generally a pig sty. I was SOL. As I left I saw another lady going to use the restroom and warned her of the dire situation. She just laughed and said she knows better and brings her own toilet paper. 😂😂😂 No kidding.
Grocery shopping is something I suffer through. This place has an awkward layout, Im always trying to find something that I cant quite locate and it takes me 3 tries to get it. The bread selection in the bakery is not that great and I always end up annoyed and hating life once Im done. The produce is incredibly overpriced - honestly, the whole store is so I only get things on sale.
I stopped in after working evening shift for a few items. The girl started announcing overhead the store will be closing in 10 minutes... okay I know they do that. Then she again announces the store will be closing in 8 minutes... then the store will will be be closing in 6 minutes... She was so annoying as if saying we dont want you here so get out. What would have taken me about three minutes to go in and get and pay for took longer with her unnecessary nerve wracking distractions every twominutes. Then the guard locked the door where my car was parked and would not let me out that side instead making me use the other door and walk around the entire front of the store to where my car was parked. Probably to beat the crowd of one other.
I shop at this Tops quite a bit, not for the quality but for the convenience. The fresh produce is usually not the freshest. Im talking in terms of the greens and the things like lettuce. They are abysmal at best. The meats are ok and the prices are pretty high for the quality.
I Challenged Myself To Buy My Next 3 Days Off Lunch With Only $12... 🤔 It took some ingenuity but I was successful in my goal. With Steamed Veggies, Black Beans, Lobster Cakes, Fish Fillet & Perogies... Ill have more than enough Food For 3 days... And I Only Spent $11.69 👏 Yay me!
Dairy items dated a few days before use date. To close for me to purchase. Same with bread items.Have to dig for fresh dates. On occasion told cashier some cheese products were past use by date. This Tops store is located on South Park Ave. In Buffalo. NY. This Tops is in a lower income neighborhood, no reason that it cannot look like the other storesMany people call this the Sh.. Tops.Maybe its time for a management overall and Tops executives to take note of this store, remolding was done a handful of years back but the store is sliding downhill. The other Tops are clean, bright well organized.Seems like catering to the more affluent areas is Tops agenda.
Not surprised that tops is going bankrupt they are so overpriced and youre just getting worse. You have the amazing competition of a Wegmans and your pricing is too far off from Aldis Save-A-Lot etc you just dont have a place anymore Tops. Theres not much you can get here that is either better priced than a competitor or better quality than say a Wegmans store so unless youre one of the unfortunate people stuck in a place that doesnt have Wegmans or Aldis you shop here because you have to. The tops in South Buffalo is especially bad huge lines and very dirty.
Visually, this place is a dump, but over all,The staff are friendly,And I dont usually have an issue shopping here. My recent one however isnt much of a big deal but I figured since it happened a few times already I would point it out.I have a 4 year old,And we like to play the crane game where you try to get the toy,And we like the 25/50 cent machine where you get an item in the ball. Both are a waste. The crane game stole my money, and the machine did nothing,it either gave me half back or none at all. The ball machine did the same,One out of the three times it did work,But had only a string inside. Who does that? Lol.The whole place is kind of shotty in general so keep that in mind of you choose to shop here
Horrible! Everyone that lives under a rock goes there and is absolutely rude because they think there entitled to everything and going there on the first watch out every welfare winner is there becuase they can shop there asses off but cant work and complain how there life sucks and has there billion paycheck babies running around tearing things up and the parents dont do anything. Thats why that tops is got the nickname ghetto tops cuz of all the trash that goes there.
I go here because its close to my house, butI should stop going. Often items are not stocked in Deli area after they close. Some of the lotto ticket machines wont be working and service doesnt care. I went to buy tickets for Erie County fair, and they couldnt sell me tickets because the Catalina printer was down. However, I had no idea that a Catalina printer had anything to do with the fair.... so despite a sign that said Catalina printer is down, there was not any signage on the Erie County Fair signs saying tickets were not available. I waited in line for 25 minutes for nothing. This store is clean and mostly friendly, but they continue to disappoint.

2021-08-26This store never fails to disappoint me. Cust service is tolerable but by no means good. The self check outs never work correctly. The employees are usually rude or simply ignore you. I only go if I have no other option.

2021-09-29The employees were very rude to me and refused to help me for reasons I will never understand. They were all for rushing me out of the store, but not for helping me with a personal issue. Maybe it’s the fact that it was about 7:30 AM or that they get very little pay to watch people pay for their groceries.

2019-10-08This location is great as everything is pretty easy to find and its close to home, but the employees as far as my experience arent super friendly And seem to not want to be there. Please remember youre at your job and be mindful of your customers. Everyone has a bad day here and there..but if you dont like your job than find one you will like and save yourself and the customers the trouble of a bad attitude.

2018-04-20Great store and friendly staff. Super clean. I took away a star because people are always smoking out in front (employees included). Employees should have a back smoking area away from a public entrance and customers should have to be 100ft of the entrance. It should also be enforced.

2021-03-13While walking in the store with my girl and 4 year old son, cart boy put his hands in his pants to scratch him self in front of all of us and didnt care about it. Then went on to clean carts without changing gloves or cleaning them.

2016-03-18They remodeled it and it looks amazing. Seems like the food is fresher as well, Im assuming its under new management. The only thing I wish they would do is keep the car cleaning bins at the fuel pump filled with cleaning water and napkins (there never is)

2016-10-18The employees at this Tops are VERY UNPROFFESIONAL! I have been there numerous times when a female cashier at the self checkout was on her cell phone or having inappropriate conversation with the security guard. The employees at the customer service desk are also unfriendly. I moved to the area and was happy there was a market so close to our new home, after a dozen or so visits to this store my fiance and I decided its better to travel further in order to experience good customer service and selection.
