I never bother with reviews because I dont have time, but I have to do this one. With every visit to the store I am horribly disappointed! Never fails! The worst customer service, terrible produce... I can go on and on! I avoid going there but sometimes I am pinched for time and it is so close to my house. I always drive to other stores no matter how far they are! I dont understand how is this Tops store still in business? I wish I dont have to go there ever again!! And it seems that they just dont care!
Purchased the brand pawscout smart pet tag during the month of June 2020. However, due to my particular breed.... I found out at the vet the following day it is not good to put collars on English Bulldogs due to risk of them choking due to their neck size and how bulky they are. Nevertheless, I went to return it the following day with the receipt and was told that because of covid 19 they were not accepting returns. I can understand that.... However due to the length of their No Return Policy .... I put it on top of my refrigerator. Tonight (Feb 2020)I was cleaning saw the 35 dollar pet tag and went to return it; however when I got there I was told that they could not accept item because of how long it was since purchase. I offered to give them my bonus card info so they could retrieve it in their system...offered to give them the card I paid for collar with and tried informing them of my prior attempt to try and return the day after purchase but was not able toom they told me sorry . I am upset because I paid for something that wasnt even opened or damaged in anyway still in original packaging.. So now I have a 40 dollar pet collar and they were unable to return even for store credit. Especially during a pandemic when money is tight (mother of 4 kids) and being out of work I would expect they would be understanding but no. They have product replacement/insurance for their merchandise..... Terrible customer experience terrible way to follow up with customers and out them first when they should be grateful I was choosing to spend my money at this particular establishment. I spend minimally 400 a week here. I will now be taking business elsewhere. Hope this helps anyone else who is so find of wegmans but lives in area that only offers Tops. Ill drive the extra 15imutes....
So no where does it say 2 for 1 ......just 1.99sale .....came up 2.29 I question it she says ya that bakery ....no wonder there heading to bankruptcy. ...just draining to local in EA so I went and got a 2nd ....you have to watch the games tops plays ....smarten up folks
My favorite part of the EA Tops is probably the floral section. They have beautiful flower bouquets here. They also have a small selection of houseplants too. Ive gotten a few great plants from here. Really awesome balloons too.This store is small. It gets a little crowded when its busy. That is probably my least favorite thing about this location.
Have found many items well past their expiration date.....prepackaged deli meat, yogurt, etc. I even brought this to an employee’s attention. I was concerned someone would not notice and get sick. Employee said he would take care of it. Before I left the store I went back to check and all of the meat was still on the shelf. Organic produce is always moldy, mushy or rotten. NEVER bags in the meat department. I always make sure to take one from produce because they are too lazy to refill the bags in meat department. Prices higher for poor quality and selection. Rude employees in self check out. Unless it’s an ‘emergency’, I try to go to Wegmans on Losson or in WS.
Its a nice supermarket but on the smaller side. However sometimes I have no choice but to shop after 9 or 10 p.m. and tonight was the first time an employee wouldnt help in checking out process. I asked for help but the employee said they couldnt! I had a lot of items and it took me over half hour with constant errors and waiting. It was an horrible aggravating experience. Any other time I have shopped in the evening the employees actually offered help instead standing there staring at me!!! If this is something new Ill have to shop elsewhere. Or maybe just bad customer service tonight.
Never have a nice selection of salad mixes and when they do they are 2 days from expiring. They were out of fruit roll ups for my kids lunches and never have my simply orange juice with some pulp its either high or no pulp. They are lucky their the only grocery store in East Aurora otherwise id got Wegmans more often!
Nice selection. Can find just about anything you want. A little pricey. Comparable to other large chain grocers. If you shop sales and use coupons you can get some good deals. Obviously, not as afordable as the no frills stores where you bag your own groceries. Much more product to choose from though!
I can never seem to get the brand of kitty litter I prefer. Bulk food runs out of paper labels and twist ties alot. Theres Tops brand half n half quart size only half the time. I assumed that the Bonus card informs the store as to what we buy, but they always tell us when the next truck will arrive. I live at the opposite end of the village, so it is a long haul to get down there. On the bright side, I am grateful for the organic section.
Tops is a second rate supermarket. The aisles are crowded with unnecessary displays and they always run stupid contests, like Monopoly, which just results in higher prices. They frequently run absurd deals where you, for example, buy two and get three free. That obviously means that the product is overpriced. Wegmans doesnt do that kind of nonsense.Thats just my complaints today. I find new ones every time I enter the store.
When is Wegmans coming????? This place is supposedly the best of the local Tops and thats just sad. Shout out to Bethany who is literally the ONLY employee to ever utter a have a good day/thank you as you walk out from one of the 6 self checkout systems.Employees are almost all very grumpy. Does this company suck the soul out of them?Speaking of self checkout... most of the time when you come here its pretty much your only option, unless you enjoy standing in line for 20 minutes behind massive shopping loads in one or two of the only human cashiers they have open at any given time.Could they hurry up their bankruptcy so theres a vacant spot for Wegmans to build upon??Also prices are just ridiculous. Sure, I can occasionally get Daisy sour cream for 88¢, or use a coupon to save here and there... but $3.89 for a gallon of milk??? Do they not realize that Wegmans is literally $2 cheaper ALL OF THE TIME? $1.89 for a gallon at Wegs. Id rather pay more on a handful of items, use NO COUPONS, and save overall, and DRIVE to Transit or McKinley to Wegmans than shop here weekly for groceries.
Worst experience Ive had in that store. They are not people friendly. It was my fault I dropped my car keys while shopping. They refused to announce it or look for them. You always have to wait 20 min for a carry out. Tops should take lessons from Publix in Florida. Always a carry out even if 1 purchase and they all greet you. Tops wanted to know how they could improve. A customer actually helped me find my keys near plants. Tops is not the friendly store they advertise. Go shop at Publix and get some lessons. The woman at the fast check out register was way to slow. Not the person I need when I run in for two things. Didnt help that the lady before me bought $115 dollars worth of groceries in the fast check out lane. Cashier, although very friendly, moved very, very slowly. There were four people behind me when I left all shaking their heads
East Aroura tops is not the best but the only choice in town. They actually charge more for the exact same items at other tops stores. When I asked them about this or if they would match the price at the other tops they literally told me they can charge more because they are the only grocery store in town .. the government doesnt let gas stations over charge I wonder why tops can get away with charging more
Its just ok. Selection of products is not as expansive as, say, Wegmans, and store management and employees seem dispassionate. Lots of displays in aisles blocking access, even in the entryway. The parking lot is small and one store entrance is right next to where traffic pulls in off the street--a disaster waiting to happen. Be careful in the parking lot... lots of people in a big hurry.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, they use very questionable pricing tactics. Example----A six pack of Pepsi bottles regular price stated at 7.49 per six pack, then priced at 3.49, supposedly a 50 percent savings which is totally not true if you price them out at Wegmans where they sell regular price under 4.00 a sixpack. Very suspicious pricing techniques. You see manufactured savings when the price in many cases is higher after their sale than at the competition. Unfortunate, they are the only store in town so unless you have a car to drive 13 miles to a Wegmans you are stuck with their prices.
Most of the time the workers are too busy to help a Customer. The workers in the deli are rude. Most of the time the meat looks old. And I wish they could make a ham salad like they do in Lewiston.NY. The return bottle room is like a shoe box half the time the machines are down. And the parking lot is a joke!!
Tops prices are crazy high unless you are willing to get what they want you to buy that week based on the deals. Tops always feels like you are being steered what to shop for. If its not on sale it usually has the higher price tag compared to wegmans. But were in east aurora so there isnt exactly a choice unless you want to drive. Staff is friendly enough though.
Honestly I got in line not knowing the woman in front of me had 7 WIC checks and the male cashier was in training by a women who had bushy blond hair who seemed like she cared less about anything but her phone and instead of helping the kid she walked away and went to the restroom so basically it took over 15 min for me to get out of line nooffence but it really sucked!

2022-06-01Whoever is in charge of purchasing needs to do a better job. They are always out of everything pre, during and post pandemic. The meats are terrible. The selection is limited. The prices are ridiculous even if you’re a member of their special club. I hate going to this store and I will take the extra 15 minutes to go to Wegmans from now on. Not worth the “convenience” of being close to home if they never have what I’m looking for.

2022-05-01First as a shopper, I only buy simple things like chips, candy, chapstick, or rolls. And every time I’m happy with my purchases.Second, having worked there, I must say the bad reviews are as expected since customers in this town and surrounding areas (wales, west falls, etc…) thinks everyone needs to treat them like loyalty. If I had to count the number of customers who were just plain nasty over the tiniest thing I would be rich.With that said, there were quite a few awesome customers but those customers did not come in enough to not let my and other employees morale dampen.Bottom line: if you don’t like Tops, stop shopping there especially if you are going to come in and make snarky remarks to the employees how Wegmans is better and they wouldn’t do that or treat you like that. And every place makes mistake so stop BEING NASTY to the employees for those mistakes.

2022-02-02I just left tops i was waiting in line at the deli at 11:50am to buy something when the waiter waited on about 5 people than they were done serving the 5 people then seen me standing there and went on to do other things so i waited a couple more minutes still no service mind you im a black male so then a white male comes along and they stop doing what they were doing and served him so ibjust left i felt hurt.this just happened as im posting.

2022-02-21For the 3rd time, This Tops gave my flash food item to the wrong person. Managers solution is to just contact flash foods because she doesnt want to do whats right. Id rather drive 20 minuts to another Tops rather than to deal with this stores employees lack of caring or respect

2022-01-13My #1 reason for not going to this Tops was their prices are way too high. That was before a mouse ran across the paper isle in front of me this week! That has now become the #1 reason I’ll drive an extra 15 minutes to a clean grocery store & I’ll save money!!

2017-01-16Although it may look nice from the outside and have okay prices, dont be fooled. The store smells like rotten food, and sometimes they forget to check the expiration date on products before sale. I have unknowingly purchased expired milk before. Their produce is low quality, and the produce is often covered in bruises. I gave this a mediocre score because their prices are better than the competition. This store is often understaffed during busy times.

Grossly understaffed and the employees will literally stand there at the SLOWEST pace and ring every item out one handed to ensure that you are stuck waiting for a good half hour to 45 minutes just to get cashed out!! Not joking save yourself the frustration and shop at Wegmans yall.
