Tops Friendly Markets in other cities:
Worst Tops I have ever been to. The employees are pretty friendly and helpful; however the manner in which this particular store is set up is not user friendly and/or conducive to doing your weekly shopping. Its better suited for running in/picking up an item or two. Additionally, when I first moved to the area (Buffalo Road); I went shopping here. They tried to over charge me for an item that was on sale. I purchased a few of that specific item and did not receive the sale price. I had to go back to customer service to get it corrected.
Its no wonder Tops is going out of business. Their prices are exorbitantly high, the produce is lousy, the store is laid out very oddly, the selection on many items is almost nonexistent. To get to the bathroom you have to walk through their breakroom only to find out the bathroom is tiny and smells horribly. The cashier in the next lane didnt have a clue what she was doing and had to be helped multiple times by different associates. I truly dont know why anyone would shop here. Honestly, I should have left my cart and gone to Aldi or anywhere else. I only went because of its proximity to Home Depot (another errand I needed to run) and to hold us over for a few days before my wife did our primary grocery shopping. The only positive was the cashier who rang us out was pleasant if not seemingly overwhelmed by everything going on. I will definitely NOT be going back.
I really dislike Tops for their, in my opinion, dishonest sales. They offer things like six packs of Coke products at a buy two get four free sale price. You pay about $15 for the two six packs, that isnt a sale. You can go to another big box store and get a six packs of Coke for $2.50 each, if you multiply that out by six it is $15. So how does Tops think that is a sale? Also, their buy this get this stuff free is a joke. They jack up the price if the main product they are selling so it pays for the free items. I have caught them doing this personally. They jacked up the price per pound of the chuck roast about $2.00/pound. So you paid about $8.00 more for the roast than normal. That extra $8.00 was a little under the cost of all the free items. The only way you save money at Tops if you are a coupon hawk. Without coupons it is not worth shopping there.
This is my 1st time ever going inside this Tops. Very quiet place and not too busy which is great to me. I like to do my shopping in peace. The people were very helpful when I needed to find something. They pointed me in the rite direction and said if its not there we can help you find it someplace else in our store. Very clean store. I will be returning.
I have shopped at tops for many years. I love the gas points and the sales but I have noticed in the past year that there are less cashiers and more self checkouts. It is very frustrating when I shop on a Saturday afternoon and only 2 cashiers are on duty. When I do shop at Wegmans even if it is not peak time, they have many cashiers. I am not the only customer who feels this way. I saw more than one customer leave without making a purchase.
Clean store and well stocked, however in need of updating and modernization. Great prices and deals in conjunction with the free bonus plus program.Bakery fresh items , dining cafe , pharmacy and gas station is a plus.BAD:Only three stars because theestablishment isnt family friendly at all . Upon checkout a male employee was loud, angry, rude, and disruptive. Was yelling obscenities near my children. My next shopping visit will be solo.GOOD:Cashier MINDY was very professional, good-natured , adaptable and knowledgable. She possesses excellent customer service skills.THANK YOU MINDY!!
Literally just ok. A step above Price Rite in terms of quality of product, but several LARGE steps below Wegmans and Aldis in terms of freshness, availability, cleanliness, price, and customer service. Workers are not customer oriented, theyre usually bored or chatting with each other even while some customers (me) are standing in front if them with a question. Its the place to go if youre in a pinch or not wanting to drive an extra 5 minutes.
As far as Tops goes, this location is on par. I generally just use it for convenience (out of bread, missing an ingredient for dinner, need snacks for a party, etc.). The selection is good and the staff are helpful, however the produce is almost always of poor quality-- overripe, wilted, or near-rotten.
Worst experience ever, white manager name Ben, trying to talk with a black persons slang. No customer service was I given. I was lied to about the whole situation and to top it off I was unable to cash my daughters WIC checks because this Ben lolly gaged until it was too late to cash the checks. The next day I called the store manager name Doug who was also no help at all. Calling the district manager, both need to be fired and I need to be compensated!!!!!!!! I will not let this go even if I have to go to the president of the Tops Markets.......
This place is an absolute dump. Filthy store, terrible produce, terrible meat section, always under-stocked. Every time I get produce here it goes bad by the next day.I only go here if Im so short on time that I have no other choice. Terrible store. the WORST TOPS IN ROCHESTER
Whether you go to Buffalo Road and Gates or you go to the one buy RG&E in the city frankly their meat stinks it smells like fish through the store its not clean their customer service absolutely sucks if you can find anybody there rude not a lot of good deals ever even with coupons I basically have made this store in total a last resort Id rather go to the dollar store the customer service lines are around the corner with one cashier who has a massive attitude at any given time that Ive ever been there at either store not impressed dont waste your time

2019-02-13Do yourself a favor and get their breakfast pizza. Its insanely great. Where I work we get it for every birthday celebration because we absolutely love their breakfast pizza. They also happen to have one of the best selections of Hispanic food around which I greatly appreciate. Oh and their donuts are pretty great.

2019-03-26We like shopping at Tops mostly for the deals they have. I love it when they do a buy 2 get 3 free, its a great way to stock up. Their produce is not the best. I got a pack of kiwi from them that never rippened at least 2xs. Their bakery section is pretty good and cheap.

2018-12-24Got in, got what I needed and was on my way. No interminable lines, competent and polite cashier. Asked an employee for directions to cocktail sauce and was quickly directed to it. Good service and a good experience on Christmas Eve when shopping can be a nightmare. Good job, Tops.

2019-08-16I only go there on Fridays to cash my check and the customer service desk wait just to cash a check is 15 to 20minutes in line when we only have 30 minutes of a lunch break theres three registers available and they always only have one open recently complain to the customer service manager and all I got was a careless response. Step It Up tops you would think because of your location your customer service would be better

2019-01-22I was there midday and it was fairly quiet. I noticed a Lot of things tagged on sale. Not sure if thatbis the norm or if it was a higher number than usual. I used the self checkout lanes, and that was more or less easy enough. I had a donut and a muffin in my bakery bag, and it seemed adamant that I put the bakery bag in my shopping bag. Until I noticed the skip bagging option.
