Dyker Heights Christmas Lights in other cities:
Little disappointed with the lights this year as I think it was more colorful and bright last year. Nonetheless, the vibe is amazing. The main lights are on 84th st and 11th -12th avenue, some good lights on 82 and 83rd too but 1 or 2 houses only. Dont go late as many owners switch their lights off after 12 or 1 am so try to go between 9 to 11. Park your car closer to one of these street or on these streets and walk the 5 streets, mainly between 82 to 85th street. Overall good Christmas vibes. Happy holidays.
Always a pleasure to visit and see the lights on all the homes. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and for crowds of people. There are a lot of lit up homes to see. So festive and beautiful.
The place is on 84th between 12th Ave and 13th. You can walk down the 13th Ave and turn to any street you like. Its really a tour of all the big luxury houses 😂

I toured this amazing neighborhood via discovernyc.tours website! Of course this neighborhood is a must visit, as you can read from multiple reviews. I just wanted to say that you should not drive here because of the terrible parking and traffic! Save yourself the hassle and book with this tour company. They shuttle you from Times Square and back! If you’re staying near Times Square it’s worth it.Another thing is, there are a few (maybe 3?) truck vendors that sell hot cocoa and popcorn. That’s about it. No much dining options nearby so I suggest eating before you get there!
Its ho ho ho.liscious. Its seriously impressive. Theres lights. And trees and santas. And sooooo many baby Jesuss in mangers. Its free and cant miss.

Really love walking through this neighborhood during the winter holidays. Sometimes there are vendors with items for the kids so bring cash with you.
Finally made it out to the Dyker Heights lights, well worth the jaunt from northern Brooklyn. And some enterprising Mr. Softee drivers selling hot chocolate made the night even sweeter. Will visit again next year!

Such a nice stroll on New Years Eves, the houses are so beautiful and well worth a visit during the holidays. The home owners hire a company that do a fantastic job, very easy to tell which houses are in competition.
Lots of decorations but more hype than it is . Don’t get me wrong it’s great and the effort , but we thought there was more to see

Place are beautiful but only thing that is horrible because people who live there are really bad at parking, lots of cars are taking two car space to park and you wont find parking. Best street is look for parking near the park
The lights it was too much but magical evening and displays range from the tasteful and beautiful to the over the top and outrageous. This is an incredible activity to do during Christmas time. Located -the area between 83rd and 86th streets and 11th and 13th avenues I would recommend coming and either parking or taking the train in then walking around on foot. Parking probably isnt very easy but slowly is moving - if you can, take the train.

It was an amazing experience. Most festive neighborhood in New York City . A must go places in holiday season. And it’s free . No entrance fees . But parking is horrible. Your Christmas won’t be complete if u don’t visit here if u live NYC or nearby. Even u can get there with public transport. Be ready for heavy traffic. Be careful if u go right after snow or rain , roads can be slippery.
There is a special meaning for my husband and I, which was the place of our first date, seeing Christmas Lights at Dyker Heights every year.The light is amazingly brilliant and romantic with holiday season atmosphere. It was worth a visit for couples and families.However, the traffic was extremely bad and there would be some street closures, especially for popular houses. Our recommendation is trying to park blocks away and walk into the popular area.
Astonishing array of houses decorated with Christmas lights, some music and lots of moving figures. The homes by themselves are impressive too. Its best to walk through the neighborhood between 10-13th Avenues and 81-86th Streets rather than try to drive. Wear masks because it is crowded!

The annual Christmas lights displayed on many houses in Dyker Heights is a tradition for me, that I enjoy coming to see very holiday season. While this year may have smaller crowds than what is usually expected, it doesnt take away from the wonder and beauty of seeing the incredible decorations that are displayed. The work done on each house is really impressive.
A wonderful Christmas activity is back to its best. I was glad that there were not many tourists coming on busses.There were enough police to manage the traffic and keep everyone safe. I recommend to park on 86th street and walk around instead of driving around. The traffic can be very bad on peak hours especially with all the pedestrians.The house decorations are wonderful, entertaining and creative. Thank you for the home owner providing Christmas joy

Dyker Heights brings the lights to another fantastic season of Christmas decorations. Enjoy responsibly and definitely avoid driving right to the area. Some of the highlights are on 14th Ave between 72nd St and 71st St, 84th St between 12th Ave - 10th Ave.
A magical transformation of this beautiful neighborhood in Brooklyn takes place every year for Christmas. An attraction like no other is worth the visit. It’s hard to predict the crowds on weekends although Sunday nights tend to be less crowded. I like to start near 85th Street and 12th Avenue and make my way through unique light installations that brighten up the streets for the holidays.
It was amazing experience! My whole family had fun. Yes, it’s crowded especially right before Christmas but it’s so worth it to go there and see those amazing Christmas decorations. I loved it and I highly recommend to see it. It’s probably better idea to go as soon as the attraction opens and don’t wait to see it before Christmas because it’s very very crowded.
Beautiful light displays on the houses. You must come see them at least one time if you live in NYC or youre visiting during the holiday season!
Totally worth a visit. Pictures or videos doesnt do justice for this neighborhood!! It takes over an hr to see everything by foot. Highly recommend it.

Definitely worth a visit! Most of the lights are on 11 Avenue, 83th and 84th Street. Wear warm and visit them on a clear day since you have to take off your gloves taking pictures.
We went on 12/23 at 6:30pm and spent an hour walking around. We had two 5 year olds and a 1 year old in tow. Were the lights fun, creative, gaudy, and cheesy!? Yes!!! My 5 year old son exclaimed that they were beautiful!
I visited with family on Christmas Eve and it was very festive. Very crowded but manageable to walk through. The neighbors are nice and the visitors are pleasant. The hot chocolate was a great addition! Definitely enjoyed the light show!!! Will 100% recommend!
Neat experience. Congested. Better by foot if you can find parking. Some vendors and traffic control. Patience is a must but worth it.

I visited this place with a bunch of friends. A truly interesting experience, but finding a nearby bathroom wasnt an easy feat lol. It was basically a museum of different houses decorated with all these Christmas icons and lights. If youre really into Christmas, then I definitely recommend seeing this place and you dont need to pay for a tour. My friend was the tour guide for our little group.
This was a wonderful experience. Just walking around the neighborhood will put you into a great holiday spirit. Some people chose to drive around the blocks slowly while taking pictures. However, if you really want to stop and take in the sights, you should choose to walk. Finding a parking spot is difficult and the closest subway stop is a 12-15 min walk. Be prepared for the cold weather and wear comfortable footwear. There are no public bathrooms in the area and the closest ones are near the subway stop, so make sure you use the bathroom before heading here.
This was an amazing experience! Its a regular neighborhood where all the private citizens decorate their houses wonderfully for Christmas.Its a very underrated free thing to do in New York. In fact we enjoyed this so much more than the tourist traps of Rockefeller center etc in Manhattan. If youre one of the sensible locals (if you hate going to crowded times square this is you) or youre a tourist who likes things off the beaten path then skip Manhattan entirely and go here.Of course if you are a first time tourist, stick to Rockefeller center, we dont want to overcrowd Dyker heights. You probably need those pictures as a sacrifice for the goddess of Instagram anyways.
Start around 86st 11ave and make your way up the heights. Its best to go midweek. Weekend crowds really make it no fun. I do notice the same participants over the years with the most elaborated displays but they change it up somewhat. Definitely fun for kids. Photo ops. Sad to see a lot of for sale signs there amidst the decorations, times are tough...
A fun and amazing place to visit to soak in some of the festive fun. Street parking is free but challenging to find one. Walk around the neighborhood is the best way to go enjoy. Buy some hot chocolate and caramel popcorn 🍿 to munch on. Make sure to visit Lucy Spatas house on 84th street who started this tradition.
Lovely walk down the streets of dyker hights. Decorations are more amazing from house to house than what Ive ever seen. It does gets crowded on the weekends so come early, park farther away, dress warmly and enjoy your walk.
Cool neighbourhood with extremely awe-inspiring lighting works. Must visit this area in Christmas evening. The hard work of the residents deserves applause 👏 and the police who are working to arrange traffic are also working non stop. Bonus point, youll get to see some cool looking houses!

All the houses were decorated with sparkling lights and lovely toys! But it’s gonna be crowded and the public transport buses won’t ever come on time and are always full. Had to take a cab to get to the metro station.
Good ti visit the lightings. Should go with car. Otherwise it is difficult to find buildings with lightnings in the cold weather.

Walking around dyker heights, swanked with petite townhouses decked with christmas lights is definitely one of the most amazing experiences in New york. Easily the best lightning, ranging from simple and chic lighting to grand and bold scenes.Best viewing time - 5:00-9:00pm. Takes about 3 hours to walk around and expect a lot of crowd. And please respect the property and take images from a respectable distance.
This was the most magical experience during holidays. We visited last year in Dec month. The house decorations were very beautiful and creative. We are planning to go this year as well. Highly recommended if you live in New York or nearby area.
The good: Extremely over the top decorations, house are covered head to toe and it’s almost impossible not to get in the Xmas spiritThe bad: I say almost because the sheer amount of people, police car flashing lights, and overall chaos is anxiety inducing. I have no words for this area of NY. I am visiting NY for a week and we drove through this neighborhood. I was absolutely blown away and left speechless!! I have never seen anything like this in my life and I am 62 years old. The Christmas decorations were beyond description.

If ever u want to see colorful lights then dyer heights is where u should visit at least once.its really a fantastic collections of lights..some big some small and as ur walking around there are trucks with popcorn and hot chocolate to warm you on these cold nights while touring the homes. UNBELIEVABLE!!
So beautiful and fun. Prepare to spend at LEAST an hour and make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Heavy police presence as well but not intrusive.

I dont see a point in calling them Xmas lights..they were ok..not worth the hype done. The lights were not outstanding or exceptional...just that the streets /houses had some lights outside...you can see those in your neighborhood too. We drove 1.5 hours to see this...very disappointed. Think before you visit.

The houses that are lite are fantastic, but dealing with the large groups that are bused in can be troublesome as they block a good bit of the street.

This neighborhood is like no other I have seen before. Amazing lights in 100s of hours specially on 11st ave. This is a must visit place if you are in NY around thanksgiving.

I have booked a tour with DLC and we had a blast! The tour operator was so sweet and he was giving us a little historical explanation about the place! We started the tour in the local Church and the tour guide showed us the best way to walk in order to see the best Christmas decorations! Definatly worth it to book it with DLC !

I think I was more excited than my son. The houses are so huge.
I do NOT recommend this tour company as they did NOT verify vaccination cards in person prior to attendees boarding the bus and they did NOT ask participants to wear masks on the 2 hour round trip bus journey. It felt very reckless of them and unsafe to go against NYC’s rules for requiring masks on transportation and verifying vax cards for indoor events. Not acceptable or safe in a pandemic.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.Away to the window I flew like a flash,Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The displays are lovely but it has gotten very crowded and a lot of people were not wearing masks. We drove through instead of exploring on foot which makes it harder to see but helped keep us away from the crowds. Traffic wasnt too bad, all things considered and 84th street was blocked for a while but we eventually got to drive through there too.
I have gone here so many times and have brought so many people and it never disappoints. The homes are beautiful, the light decorations are beautiful and outstanding. Great quality job done to the people who have done the work. I hope they continue this tradition for many more years to come.

Amazing decorations by the homeowners. All the houses are decorated differently in their own beautiful way there are a lot of cars so it will be hard to find a parking spot but then there’s so much traffic that you can just sit in the car and go through all the rules and enjoy the lights in your car
Im sure previous years were better. This was my first experience. Ive seen better decorations throughout Queens neighborhoods. Not worth driving through because of the traffic. It would probably be a better experience by foot, so bundle up.

The lights were nice. Its not every house that participates so you have to do a lot of walking to find the participating house. Would be nice next year to be able to purchase a guide of all participating houses inorder for viewers to better plan.

Going to Dyker Heights for Christmas has become a tradition for my family! We love it so much!!
Its was beautiful. Especially being in the car. Didnt mind being stuck in traffic and looking at everything with the kids. But scary that there were lots of people. Some with and some without a mask. Wear a mask and be safe. Im happy that everyone enjoyed themselves, even with the madness going on.
There is no Christmas lights on the houses in the Dyker Heights neighborhood at this time of year. I usually go every year and it is a sight to be seen during Christmas. Block after block houses are designed with great detail of lights and the colors that will make this beautiful jubilation of a holiday a success.
Gorgeous but has become a bightmare of a tourist attraction
Not as good as it used to be but it is a neighborhood stable. Unfortunately the crowd ruins it as it is too commericalize. At least there is no tour buses this year. Please dont drive near as it will take you 30 mins to move up 1 block. Walk it and experience whats left as this is a fraction of its former glory as a lot of the homeowners arent putting out their decorations anymore.

First time there and never seen so many beautiful houses with beautiful decorations. Great place for family gathering. I gave it 4 stars because very difficult to find parking which is is understandable. Would go again with my family

All houses are beautifully decorated for the Christmas. Really enjoyed watching these decorations. Its very crowded, with parking full on both sides, so suggest to park your car wherever you get a parking place and then walk across the streets enjoying the decorations.Like this review if you find it helpful.

I went on Sunday evening, 12/13/2020, and it was pretty high traffic. There are traffic cops on a few corners so be prepared for them to turn you off your route if it gets too congested. You will have to maneuver around the block and try again.On the BRIGHT side... its well worth it!! The homes are so beautiful and fabulously decorated.

Houses are beautifully decorated. The lights are incredible. Parking is difficult so its best to look a few blocks away from where the houses begin. It does get very crowded but very worth seeing and photographing.

The lights are great here. There is one block where all the crazy lights are on. It use to be not as crowded but now that the tv news have broadcast about it, it is insanely crowded. I will still go but I recommend going during the week.

Loved the place and the Christmas decorations which the houses have out on the display. The displays are similar each year. So you can ask a local friend to give you a tour over there. The house with falling stars video which I have posted in the description was the best of all. Then there were quite different varieties of display with each of the houses choosing to there theme. The house with all the air balloon statues was a candy eye specially for the kids.

Definitely an iconic destination to visit during the holidays. Good to get out of your own head and just revel in the Christmas spirit for sure.My wife and I visited tonight Saturday, December 12, 2020. frankly the best part was just getting some us time and away from the children. This made the whole trip well worthwhile alone.Im guessing that the pandemic impacted peoples Christmas spirits here a little bit because although every site lists nine blocks of over-the-top Christmas lights (or at least thats what I expected) they were really only two or three houses that came close to the images that we found onTtime Out and other sites. and there was really only one block on 84th Street between 11th and 12th avenues and another house or so on 84th Street between 10th and 11th avenues that were meeting or beyond our expectations.As far as bang for the buck if youre coming from New Jersey its a toss up if its worth paying the tolls and dealing with traffic etc.For my money I think it would be far better to go to a drive-thru site in New Jersey. Like the Skylands Stadium for example.That being said if youve never been to dyker heights its definitely something that should be on your bucket list and why not?Lastly not to sound too Grinch-like I must say those homes that did decorate really do an amazing job and clearly put a lot of love, time, and effort into their decorations.
Its really a lifetime experience.The place is full of houses with extravagant Christmas decorations, appearing to be a competition between neighbours.You can go by train and walk for 10 min from the station.

It was hectic but thats what you get when you go on Christmas haha. Due to the pandemic some of the houses didnt participate while some of them kept the tradition alive. Decent place to see the lights! Happy holidays!

Im sure COVID impacted the number of houses participating and the overall effort, but this was overall underwhelming compared to the hype around Dyker Heights. Worth a drive if youre there, but I wouldnt go out of my way.

Omg this is the only event that I look forward to seeing. The only downside is that you cant get any parking anywhere and me as a resident find it very frustrating at times. But the lights and Christmas lights are a pure joy to see.
Went there on 11th January of this year, Came from Illinois and spend my $2500 in order to see the view, checked the maps and Dyker Heights were showing available. Went there, and there were no lights anymore. You guys could update and write that everything is gone for this year. i was so upset

There’s so many houses in the entire neighborhood that’s decorated with Christmas lights! Highly recommend people take public transportation or an Uber to this area because parking is difficult!

My wife made plans for visiting. It was a looooonnnngggg ride on the R from Manhattan (did not seem nearly as long on the way back after a good dinner at Arirang). Lights were beautifully over the top. There was also entertainment provided by the NYPD...some kid in a Landrover wanted him not to turn or something; he wouldn’t put down his window or exit, backup was called...I don’t like crowds and unfortunately the sidewalks here were packed here (even several days after Xmas) as if it were Times Square. So it felt a bit like a combo of Times Square and Disney.

Really fun! Plan ahead your tour by googling it in advance and get your cameras ready! Wear comfy shoes and clothes and have a scarf, youll be out for a couple of hours!

2021-12-29Beautifully decorated homes! We enjoyed our bus tour, learning more about the city and history of Dyker Heights. Walking around this beautiful neighborhood was a bit crowded at times, but everyone was respectful, understanding many wish to pause and take a moment for a picture of the beautiful lights and decorations. There are food trucks for hot chocolate and popcorn throughout the neighborhood too! This is a beautiful Christmas tradition that no doubt requires a LOT of work from the residents, but is greatly appreciated by its visitors!

2021-12-28I didn’t pay for a tour. I thought it was a SCAM. Me and my partner personally planned it and went to see the Dyker Heights Christmas Lights together. It was lost of fun and the lights were just.. Out of this world. It was BEAUTIFUL! This was my first experience since I moved to NY. And I plan on making this an every year thing. It’s so worth it and I recommend everyone to go and check it out. It is gorgeous.

2021-12-17Came here with a friend because I heard it was worth the trip. Definitely would recommend! Beautifully lit houses and there were trucks with hot chocolate and popcorn throughout. It was really nice to see people all over the neighborhood enjoying the season and the lights!

2021-12-21This place is in Brooklyn and is known for its home lighting. We didnt pay for the tour and just visited here by car and there is no fee when you take your own vehicle. The challenge is to find a parking spot which you eventually find after a few rounds. The place is lit and is looks stunning. The houses have different lighting and all are beautiful. The lighting is majorly spread from 83rd to 86th street across 11,12 &13 the avenue. Its best to park your car near these and walk around to enjoy the lights. We visit here every year but definitely recommend a visit Atleast once.

2022-01-01The Christmas lights have been magical ever since I was a child and first saw them. Kudos to everyone who decorates and puts so much effort into creating this wonderful uplifting experience for us all.If you are going to see the lights, try to go during off hours. Otherwise there is so much traffic, I mean backed up for blocks. The lights are all over on many different blocks. Unfortunately I cant remember which block exactly, but there is one very special block that has the giant toy soldiers in their front yard along with a huge scene of many other things going on, you wouldnt believe you could find something like that around here lol. So beautiful 😍 enjoy, dress warm, wear a mask since it gets crowded, be respectful.

2021-12-16It was amazing! I couldnt believe a the lights! Took a walking tour but I found I was a bit rushed. But then again it was perfect for me since I dont have that much time in NYC anyways. I absolutely loved love loved it!!

2021-12-16Beautifully decorated houses. Festival of lights and Holiday spirit. It is amazing how much effort and money people put in to make the whole area into place that attracts locals and tourists.Each house have something unique. You dont get tired to walk around. Also you could buy lighted roys for kids,baloons etc.
