Unfortunately these homes are still around. If you find a home built by Traditional Builders RUN. I have had my home for five years and I’ve had three major water leaks. That’s why they are no longer in business…… They opened up under another name

I would seriously be cautious with this company. They will promise the world and simply cannot deliver. They explain when you purchase your home they will come back and take care of nail pops and any installation malfunctions and that is simply not true. We build our home in Mat Farms in 2016 and could not be more dissatisfied with this company and the craftsmanship of there work. I personally used to build homes for a builder so I do know what I’m looking at and what I’m talking about. They completely botch the front door installation and the day of closing my wife couldn’t even use our front door because it was too hard to open. The trim work is absolutely atrocious absolutely no care for what the end result looks like. They did not sand inside any closet and the taping and mudding is very rough. I could go on and on about the lack of care. Even with all of this I let it go and tried not to dwell on the fact I paid all this money for shotty work. In the recent months I have been dealing with getting a berm put up in my back yard because apparently the homeowner is experiencing some flooding. I explained I have no problem with the berm but I want it on the edge of my property and not cutting 1/3 of my yard off like the other homes. They dragged there feet for almost 4 month. Tom from traditional kept promising that he would have there excavating guy come and do it week after week with no results. I have finally gotten the berm and now have a belly in my back yard that allows for standing water when it rains and a berm that is about 2/3 done. They tell me that it is finished and that the excavator guy quit so they couldn’t finish now if they wanted too. I have had Ken from the town helping me and they have been giving him the run around as well. I spoke with the excavator guy and he said they have shorted him money on multiple occasions and they would give him any dirt to properly do the job. Beware of this company and also R&M homes (they are changing there name to this soon)

We had a house built in 2005 by Traditional Builders in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. The process was fairly straightforward; we had a budget, we picked out a specific layout, customized it as required, chose siding, various appliances, etc. etc.Once construction started, things took an almost immediate downturn. Our roof blew off several times during construction. It was installed in December and it was too cold for the tiles to bond together. The result was that after we moved in we had water problems that causes spotting on our second floor ceilings. Both roof and ceilings (and sheetrock, and paint) were all fixed twice. For the next six months wed find shingles on our front lawn and in one instance all of my neighbors had large sections of their roof blow off. Then we had electrical problems. It turned out that two outlets (with exposed wires) were covered with joint compound prior to outlet installation by the sheetrock team. Major fire hazard. covered two different outlets with joint compound, and we were getting short circuits. My next door neighbor had a glass window in her second floor hallway that leaked for years, dripping water down the inside of her house each time it rained. She finally paid for some out side help (out of pocket) and found out it was installed incorrectly. Finally, the general layout and design of the entire neighborhood has been strange. Traditional was supposed to work with our town to get a bike path connected to the back of our neighborhood. Silly perhaps, but a big selling point for a family with small kids. It never happened (8 years later). There is no entrance sign, several houses sitting next to eachother have the same siding and shutter colors (it looks really strange, and Traditional said they would ensure this didnt happen).Overall, Im jealous of my friends the built in other neighborhoods. At Beacon Hill, Traditional Builders has become sort of a running joke. Whenever someones basement floods, siding falls off, house fails a building inspection during a resale, etc. we sit back an laugh. The quality of a Traditional House, and a Traditional neighborhood just isnt very good. Why did I finally sit down to write this? My ridge vent blew off last Friday. I called Traditional, and while it apparently isnt under warranty (even though I have a 20 year warranty on my roof? go figure?) they promised to have someone here Friday. I was skeptical, but very pleased. Now its rained for three days straight, its Tuesday, its raining again, my roof is leaking again, and no one showed up or returned my repeated phone calls.Traditional Builders.. ha!

Cob job construction. Garbage materials and even worse craftsmanship. Plumbing leaks in multiple areas, cracked sheetrock seams in every room. Even the respectable vendors change their tune when youre calling about a traditional home. Warranty is only good if they answer the phone. IF they respond, they show up like you are the problem or put on a band-aid to shut you up. Should have listened to the other reviews! Traditional/ traditionalhbd/ R&M.... Same clowns, different circus.

We recently bought a home at Stephens Farm in Guilderland, we were very excited as it would be by far the newest home my wife and I have ever lived in. Ive been in construction since 2004, I have a degree in construction Tech. With the newer home, built in 2001, we were hoping to get rid of those older home negatives. The floors creek and crack all over the place, very very loud in 1 spot by our stairs. The floors are very uneven and it is more than noticable just from walking over the areas. What this tells me is the framing was horrible and no glue was used for the subfloor in some areas. We have some cracks in the drywall in the second story master, Im guessing that was from settling. The siding flops back and forth in the wind and keeps us up all night, siding nails must not be tacked down enough. I understand siding nails need space for thermal expansion but to much and the siding slides back and forth on the nail slaming into the house in the wind. I bought this house in hopes of very few projects, if any projects, I have my hands full. I understand this was 15 years ago but this is just poor workmanship with certain employees/subs having no knowledge or consideration for the future of the home.

After pointing out things that were not done at the closing 2.5 years ago such as cracks in the wood floor and walls, Traditional continues to say that they will fix things and wont. They wont answer phone calls and are just waiting until home owners give up. If this is the home building experience that you are looking for, Traditional is for you. If you are looking for a home builder that respects you I would look elsewhere.

Awful quality of homes. We bought a new house from Traditional and one thing is for sure that they DONT stand behind their product. We have window air leaks all around the house and this makes our house not less than a freezer. After numerous complaints they only fixed one window that had huge gaps but rest are still leaking, its loss of heat, energy and moreover money. The electric outlets leak air, heat vents leak air, fireplace leaks air, patio door leaks air and you can all feel this by just using your hand. Horrible experience. These are only winter issues and overall list of issues is huge. Stay away!!
