DELIVERY was awesome and fast! So I guess its no wonder the sushi/maki rolls were not fresh...no maki roll should have rice/seaweed paper fall apart like that. Would not recommend. I felt kinda bad I only gave him a 4 dollar tip from a 21.00 order but I had no other change....since again the delivery was lightening fast. Sorry again, but I cant recommend. Im from the south and our Sushi bars are IMPECCABLE compared to NYC quality. Please stop with the laziness as this is a NYC/Brooklyn problem. Makes me wonder the kind of Asians coming here opening up bistros etc. Quality, more expensive ones in Manhattan tend to follow up w/ quality fish / shell fish. I will never order take out again in this city. Its just a constant issue.
This place has been around for a while I think due to its consistency and customer service. Its nice to be able to order gluten free fare but the sushi (the vegetarian options anyway) really arent that good. The ambiance is nice and the place is very pretty but the wait staff are so eager they can make you feel uncomfortable eating at times because its as if theyre constantly trying to snatch plates off your table.
Having eaten in and ordered from Kiku, a fair amount of times, I always felt it was suitable, nothing special, but good enough to continue patronizing . Since Covid we may have ordered from there once or twice, however, LAST NIGHT WAS THE VERY LAST TIME I WILL EVER PATRONIZE THIS PLACE. I called my order in at 5:14 p.m. At 5:25 p.m. the order arrived! Not realizing that it was actually 9 minutes since hanging up, but pretty quick I mentioned to the delivery guy, that was quick! Then I tasted the food. The shrimp tempura appetizer was NOT HOT at all, nor was the fried rice, the Tuna Sashimi slices were as expected chilled enough. When I called back to just ask if the food had been pre-cooked and pre- boxed, because no way could it have been cooked, boxed, and delivered the two blocks away in less than 9 minutes, the woman on the phone insisted it was cooked then, and then because she was getting another call, said, DONT WORRY, LADY!!!! AND HUNG UP!!!! Needless to say, I did feel a little queasy after eating two pieces of the shrimp tempura, which is supposed to be crispy but was soggy, so I threw the remaining two of the four pieces away. As I said, the Sashimi was okay, the rice not bad as I ordered it without any protein, and will be able to reheat it today, however the TREATMENT BY THAT WOMAN ON THE PHONE SEALED THE DEAL.From now on I will ONLY ORDER OR EAT AT TEN RESTAURANT ON 15TH STREET AND SEVENTH AVENUE whey are always much more congenial on the phone, and when serving customers at their establishment. I only ordered from Kiku, last night as Ten does not do a fried rice dish. We normally always order from there, and the last time we dined in was New Years Eve, 2019, and it was very enjoyable, they served a complimentary white fish tempura that is not on the menu but is out of this world, as is their dressing for the Avocado Mango Salad. So, my advice, as a long time Park Slope resident, opt for TEN, you will have a much better experience with take out and dining in.
This restaurant is my preferable restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to this restaurant. everytime I feel like having a good lunchon, this is the place that comes immediately to my mind. very good and varied food and a rich menu.great staff members, and nice ambience. And very important, the expence is modest. I recommend this restaurant with no hesitation.
Fish old. I called to explain, not looking for anything in return and lady yells Fish come Friday! Fish come Friday! What?!? Thats your response?! Except for mackerel, no raw fish should taste fishy. The tuna and salmon tasted fishy. Simple as that. This place was good years ago. Never going back.
I have always loved Kiku. Tonight, I had a yellowtail scallion roll which tasted a bit fishy, which isn’t normally the case with yellowtail. I ate the roll thinking it was no big deal. Well, turns out I was wrong. I won’t share the details. I’ll be avoiding Kiku for a while. Maybe I’ll try Katsuei. Aargh
The lady on the phone can be extremely rude and needs to be fired. She’s literally the only bad thing about this place. I got amazing service when she doesn’t work (maybe she was sick or out) but when she’s working she is rude and will change prices of food items according to her whims. This place would be 5 stars without her
Worst experience with a delivery guy ever! Asked me to come down stairs to pick up my order, after I said NO that I needed him to come upstairs (I was watching a friends baby) made me wait 10 mins. And then once arrived with my food, shoved it into my hands. I will never order from here again.
I just spent $37 on a sesame spinach entree (oh forgot...it was just cold steamed spinach. Apparently they forgot the sesame).I also ordered 2 poke bowls. They are the size of a side salad for $9.95 each. (Oh I forgot... for one of them I paid an extra $2.00 for a second protein. Shrimp...problem is I received a half of a piece of a cocktail shrimp.)I feel like I was just held up. Have to end this review now because I have to go to my kitchen and figure out what’s for dinner.
Ive ordered from Kiku on a number of occasions and appreciate how fresh my food is along with the sheer quantity of veggies included with a teriyaki entree. They always deliver quickly, are friendly and havent messed up an order yet. Their wasabi is also solidly spicy.
By far the worst delivery experience Iv ever had. The delivery man started screaming into the phone when he called to say he was outside but I couldnt understand what he was saying. I tried to buzz him in but I heard him leave the apartment. He then tried to refuse me my food (that I already paid for) and continued to scream giberish at me to the point neighbors were concerned. Will NEVER order from this place again, Im not sure why they think they can treat paying customers like that.
I ordered from this restaurant via seamless. I ordered four items which they said it would take 30 minutes. Instead 1 of the items arrived an hour later. When I called to complain the woman demanded I send her a picture as proof, then she hung up on me. She later called me back and claimed that the identical pink rolls were - in fact - crunchy salmon and tuna. She claimed a bowl of rice was mochi and the Diet Coke was just MIA. She refused a refund and offered no help.If the service wasnt enough of a reason not to order from here, I should add that the food was also lousy. Avoid.

2022-06-29One employee let me use the restroom just for another to stop me at the restroom door to say “Customers Only”.Ive said this before millions of times; one thing I’ll never understand, as a restaurant employee myself and has been everything from a valet to a restaurant manager, are places that don’t let non customers use the restroom.The reason for my review is because rules such as “customers only” that aren’t flexible is ridiculous and also humiliating.What if someone had a medical emergency and something happened that moment? Certain things are a human right, at least some human decency.Being a kind human is what will welcome people back to your place. Not a fake “I’m sorry”

2021-09-10If you are ordering food to be delivered .. please do not order from them. They are the worse in delivering your food. The delivery guy would randomly give your food to who ever he see. You already paid for your food in advance so they do not care who they give it too. Then when you call the customer service is horrible. You get this rude lady who is screaming and yelling at your and hang up the phone. You will just loose your time your money and stay hungry.
