I wasnt a guest. The review by Kim Hazen below reflects the same event I was at. The guy in the sales office was good, he was all over it or at least tried - hes pretty much the reason for the one star otherwise, theyd get none. The front desk guy was just clueless as all get out. Shouldnt be in that kind of job. The bartender Dylan was good, inside the hotel, up until the point he or someone there accused a 23 year old of using a fake ID. She looked young. But she was 23. At the tented reception event the bartender was SCREAMING at guests, including my wife, who simply asked for ice. She was told, Go back to the table and wait for a waiter. The staff was not coming by the tables often until after the meal was served, so we were desperate to get ice. It was very hot in there. Then I understand a whole table got cut off and then never got a meal. Not good. When my wife complained to her manager, the manager said she was stressed out. Then dont be a bartender. Theres never an excuse to scream at someone, it was very unprofessional. The food was cold. I decided by that point to just leave, so we left pretty early. I even admit there was some pretty rude people in there. Seemed like there was a whole group that talked through every speech and were just rude - must be a New York thing. Real inconsiderate (not the hotels fault). There were also some people saying someone underage was drinking (also, not the hotels fault). The reaction to it is the Hotels fault however. Okay, close the bar to that person or people, but why punish me or my wife who werent drinking? WE just wanted ice and some orange juice. Real bad experience. I will not go back, which thankfully, I wont have to in the future. Jesus the drama, spare yourself the trouble...
Planned ahead to have our Easter brunch @ Traditions this year. (2021) Sadly it was maybe mediocre. For $33 a person...... Fast-forward April 2022.. here we are back again bc we had a spring snow storm drop 14 inches of snow and our home lost power... so this time we are staying overnight in a room.. I was thinking the rooms here would be quite lavish and up to date with @ very least normal amenities such as a fridge and microwave.... ESPECIALLY for the nightly price on a Tuesday. Oh how wrong we were. The room consists of 2 queen beds. A small desk and chair. Period. A decent bathroom that they provide their signature shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap inwhich you can BUY upon leaving or just leave the rest of what you used in the room for the next folks lol..I just dont get it... not nearly what I would have expected and wishing I would have chosen else where... I think now, for sure.. we WILL NOT be back. Sorry....
Positive: Location is nice, staff very nice, breakfast on the weekends are very good. Negative: The Hotel was very humid, everything in our room was damp, cloths and even the rug. The Hotel needs an update with new rugs throughout, they are wore out in the hall ways. New furniture would be a big help and put this Hotel in the 4 - 5 star category.
Beds are really comfortable. People are really nice. But over-priced for the basics. Fitness room lacking. Checking to see that rooms are ready for guests not the greatest. No shower curtain and rod leaking some nasty looking liquid. Mix-ups with rooms when people with separate rooms but the same last name check in.
My guest and I enjoyed the hotel was VERY pleased at the hospitality offered, especially when a gentleman who worked there gave us a History tour and detailed information about the family who originally built the hotel as a residence. The SPA was an extreme DISSAPOINTMENT. We booked massages, pedicure, facial, and use of The salt room 3 weeks in advance. TWO days before we arrived I was informed that my facial was canceled because the person doing it wouldnt be in this weekend. The day before, I received another phone call saying that the salt room was going to be shut down for the weekend for maintenance ( on Labor Day weekend??). When I pushed the issue, she changed her story and said it was being shut down for repairs. When I went to my pedicure appointment, they would not let me have the pedicure without proof of vaccination (which I didnt bring with me) AND a mask. I stated that I had a medical condition and I wasnt comfortable wearing a mask but they wouldnt work with me so I canceled that appointment. (Didnt understand why it was okay to get a facial without one, but not a pedicure). I guess business must be really good if they can turn away customers and $500.
I did not spend the night at this hotel but attended the wedding venue. It was a very hot day and while waiting for our meals there seemed like there was not enough water. We were the very last served and the 2 children that were along had to wait an additional 15 minutes for their meals. Being out of state, I initially thought the rudeness was just a New York deal and tried to just ignore. But I decided it was the location and not all New Yorkers. I stayed at a Hampton and they were very nice and professional. I wouldnt recommend this place for a wedding. The staff was not equipped to handle the amount of people and they were very stressed and some very rude. Maybe this place should rethink their priorities and get out of the wedding business.
I attended an event at this venue. I witnessed some very rude behavior from Traditions staff members at the event. In addition, several people in the wedding party (and paying family members) were not served dinner and were treated with extreme disrespect by staff. There were issues that could have been resolved in a much more professional manor. Overall, I was very disappointed in how Vincent handled the event, as well as how he handles negative comments on this site. He’s defensive and downright dismissive. Very unprofessional. Avoid this venue for your event.
Positive: The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Uber eats delivered to this hotel. Negative: Unbearable noise from an event until 10 pm. One tiny window that did not open gave me the feel of a prison cell. The hotel kitchen was closed during the day / evening so no room service was available. The coffee maker in the room did not work. No fridge.
Positive: Scenic and quiet locale, very nice building, friendly and helpful reception staff. Negative: Wish they offered tea in addition to coffee (the gentleman at reception did however get hot water from kitchen for us). A small refrigerator in the room would also have been helpful.
This stay was amazing! The staff were friendly and talked to you. The spa was everything I had ever dreamed of and the staff there were very friendly and polite. The atmosphere was very calming. The only issue I had, which was no ones fault, was the air conditioning shut off on the last day of me being there. Probably due to the outside being so hot. The grounds are beautiful, the bulding is beautiful, the beds are heavenly and the showers are amazing I give this place a 15/10. Would highly recommend.
Just came back from the wonderful buffet at Taditions. Excellent services, from Jaden . The food was delicious and lots of choices. We have enjoyed Easter and Mothers Day buffet for years. Glad they are able to have it this year. We missed going there because of Covid. Not to worry about being there, they have taken all steps for your protection. Thanks for a wonderful experience. Enjoy. Joyce Cornelius.
Great Spa experience, before Covid they had snacks out and water to enjoy in the relaxation room before they get you for a massage, then after your massage you got a complimentary drink. After covid they had to take those things away but still a wonderful experience and massage. Ive had facials, massages, wraps, scrubs and nails done at Traditions Spa and they are all professional. Great customer service! A bit pricey but they offer excellent service.
As a local, I appreciate the history of this building. They have added all the modern touches without sacrificing the beauty of the original interior. Great place for a mini vacation. Close to everything, but very quiet up on the hill. I will schedule a massage at the Spa on my next visit.
Positive: Quiet, very scenic location; beautiful grounds, views, and historical building; pleasant, helpful, professional staff; warm décor; nice hot breakfast; pump toiletries (saves the environment of unnecessary plastic waste; reasonably priced. Negative: Nothing (but a small refrigerator in the room would be helpful)
My family and I attended our nieces wedding reception in the tent at Traditions on 10/19/19. What a disappointment! Our waiter (when we could find him) had on a filthy uniform and was clearly unhappy. We had to ask for water, coffee, cake --we were a lucky table in that we got a piece of the cake. A staff member threw the cookie favors onto our table, and dinner took over 2 hours. Definitely an understaffed event. Unfortunately, there was not enough heat on that chilly night as the sides of the tent were open and there were insufficient heaters. For a venue that bills itself as premiere we expected much better. It is truly heartbreaking to hear my niece and her husband voice their disappointments over what should have been a flawless evening. We were not impressed and truthfully, will not recommend Traditions to anyone we know.
This place is spectacular! Very clean and Sanitary! The service is second to none..... My experience in the salt cave was uplifting and invigorating. The tranquility of the salt infusion will leave your respiratory system feeling relief, your skin feeling soft, smooth, and replenished giving you a uplifted rejuvenating feeling for the rest of your week. Thanks Traditions for the wonderful experience!
Booked on their website for a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen for my daughters graduation. Booked well in advance. When we got there the room was a small 1 bedroom with a pull out couch and no kitchen. The front desk told me that this is their 2 bedroom they call it that because in the living room area they had a pull out couch. This really bothers me that they are lying to their guests. The supposed kitchen was a bathroom sink area with a small fridge with no freezer and a coffee pot and small microwave. That is not a kitchen. After speaking to the manager a week or so after getting home they did remove the word Kitchen from the room description, But that does not change the fact that I was lied to. I wanted 2 bedrooms I have stayed at many hotels with 2 bedrooms and I know the difference This is not one! So I paid for something I didnt get and Chioce hotels nor the establishment it self did nothing to rectify the situation. Also when it came time to pull out the sleeper sofa ( because we had NO CHOICE) I called the front desk for blankets and pillows and was told that it was all ready in the bed. Opened the bed and found a JEWL ( for vaping ) in the couch ICK totally gross.Had I not been lied to I could have booked in a hotel that actually had the amenities I was looking for. Unfortunately Traditions Choice hotel stole that choice from me.They real should change their name to NO CHOICE because with their lies they steal your options.Perhaps the owners should go to other hotels and see what a real 2 bedroom suite because obliviously they dont have a clue!If you think Im just a Karen please read my other reviews they are all 5 stars. It kills me to do this but someone needs to speak the TRUTH!
What a delightful place to see and experience. The grounds are stunning and then you walk into the spa. Beautiful!!! You check in and then the all about you starts to happen. Let them know you would the fluffy robe and sandals. My sister and I both had facials done for us. Such a wonderful experience. The woman who did my facial was kind, gentle and funny. They offer you many libation options. I chose the mimosa and it was delicious. We sat down in a subtly lit relaxing room to finish our drinks and then off to change back into street clothes. The changing room offered fully stocked rainhead showers. Fluffy towels to dry off with and a full assortment of things you might need to get back on your way. This was the first time I have had this service done for me and it was delightful. Cant say enough about the wonderful historical info in the lobby and beautiful grounds. Plenty of site parking and easy access for all. If you get the chance, I would not hesitate to put this on a to-do list for yourself.
We stayed three nights to attend a family members wedding reception. This is a quaint hotel, mid 1930s or 40s historic, nicely kept with spectacular grounds including a lengthy walking trail and beautiful views. The rooms are cozy and bathrooms have a tub/shower combo with plenty of sink counter space. The breakfast is delicious with options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. They do hold events sometimes (like wedding receptions) during the weekends which can last up until 10pm, and might bother some guests, so make sure you ask about that and perhaps a room away from the noise. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with ample space and seating, and hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. This was a lovely place to visit and stay.
I’m giving the spa a 2 star because I loved the massage and the girl. She was very good. As for the rest. I was embarrassed for our area! 1 shower was working out of 3 and the only one working had no water pressure and if you tried to turn it up it was scalding. Thank goodness a lady warned me about it before I got in. There is absolutely no privacy and the products that were left for the customers to use were less than good. There was 1 comb left that was wrapped to use , obviously no one is checking on the bathroom. Also I asked for a product that was on the shelf and they were out of the one I wanted. The girl at the desk said all they had was on the shelf. Not very interested in that either. Someone should keep track of what they need, in this case it was a large coconut body lotion. You could have made a sale. I hate to think what people who are from out of town and want a great spa day to have to get this shabby spa.
This review is for the spa only..My wife and I booked a couples massage, after a long week we were really looking forward to this. This is our second time here. We were not disappointed. .very clean, staff was very warm and professional. Birdie and Amber were our massage therapists..they were excellent. I have a shoulder injury and Birdie was extremely careful not to put me in ANY discomfort. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. We will be back and we will be asking for these two ladies again. Thank you for a little bit of heaven on earth experience.
This is related to the spa at Traditions only and not the hotel. Once again, I have zero regrets about visiting the spa here. The atmosphere and calm and wonderful, the staff are helpful and friendly, and what to say about the massages, hair and nail care available... its amazing. It really is a great experience and truly does help to feel more calm. I would highly recommend people go here for when they need a massage, hair or nail care.
Very good service, my masseuse Jesse did so well Ive never felt more relaxed. Theyre very welcoming and you really do get the full spa experience. The only downside I would say is that because of the pandemic you have to wear your mask so it was a little hard to fully relax, but besides that excellent service.
I really wanted to love this place, but.... I couldnt. The site is wonderful as it overlooks the valley and certainly has a good deal of local history (why we chose it) but the service is not up to standards. I held a small reception there and was not impressed with the sales staff beforehand- as it took multiple, rather confusing emails to finalize arrangements nor the staff on the event day. The servers acted like they had never served a luncheon before, took forever to get initial beverages poured, and most disturbing was that one guest had a special meal for medical reasons and I specifically asked to have this handled discreetly- but the server announced it loudly at the table; both embarrassing the guest and making public an otherwise undisclosed condition. Granted our event was quite small, I wasnt dropping $$$ on a wedding, but the overall impression I got was that the establishment is resting on the laurels of the site rather than operating as a first class, full service resort.
We arrived on New Years Day and were completely thrilled with the accommodations. The staff was friendly and welcoming, helpful and attentive- we ordered take out directly to our hotel room and the lovely girl at the front desk brought us utensils when our bag was empty. The room was clean and pristine, robes and slippers were provided and the shower pressure was fabtastic- the fireplace was a dream and we truly enjoyed out stay.We were the only customers at breakfast and they made us breakfast to order, everything was delicious! The entire place is still decorated for Christmas, trees and lights make everything look so charming. This would be a super sweet stay for a wedding.Loved it !
Amazing experience went today for my first ever massage extremely satisfying and exceeding expectations. I was a little shy to do it but the therapist Michelle Swan made me feel very comfortable and happy. I would definitely recommend her to anyone. Very personable staff I did the 60 min full body and it seemed like it lasted a long time well worth 95 bucks. I felt like I had much more energy afterwards. I definitely would recommend this to anyone. I want to start going back once a month.
I am quite disturbed at the shady-ness of this hotel and its management. I booked a rewards point stay for NYE, and a few days later received an email from the manager that I would have to cancel the reservation as the hotel would be closing due to the pandemic. I then received a voice message from the assistant manager saying the manager asked her to reach out to tell me I had to cancel for the same reason. Feeling suspicious, I called the hotel to check if they had any available reservations and was told they were booked up for NYE. So, they were lying and just trying to get rid of me, the Diamond member who was only paying with my earned reward points? I called the parent company who confirmed they were open and who then told the manager he had to honor my reservation. I wouldnt really have had an issue if he had said Im sorry, we cant accept rewards for NYE and someone failed to black it out. That to me would have seemed like an honest business situation that I would have understood, but to be manipulated and LIED to? Bad, very bad. I saved the email and voice mail in case anyone is interested.Regarding the Managers response:Lets get the facts straight--1. I made a reservation for 2 nights for NYE with my points.2. I was lied to both via email and voice mail about your being closed due to the pandemic.3. The parent company told me you were indeed open for NYE and that they were not notified of a closure. You got caught in the lie and were told by the parent company to honor the reservation.4. I made an additional reservation to add a night to the existing reservation to make it a 3 night stay and paid with a credit card. I did not make the paid reservation AFTER cancelling the other reservation as you are suggesting. (You really struggle with honesty, dont you?!!)5. Despite the integrity concerns we were looking forward to enjoying a nice, 3-night NYE and homecoming celebration (after a long 3 year deployment)-- at a hotel I thought was special.6. Unfortunately, the pandemic negatively impacted us and caused us to have to cancel. SO disappointing! Short notice on pandemic issues.7. I was able to cancel the original points reservation, but not the paid reservation.8. My attempt to cancel the additional night was 53 hours before check-in, which I agree wasnt in line with the 72 hours required.9. As a hospitality business person, I am aware of the flexibility a manager has, so I called to ask if you might negotiate moving my reservation to a date in the future, and you said no.Clearly you had no interest in being flexible, but thats your call.10. I then asked why I was lied to and you said it must have been a form email that accidentally got sent and wasnt changed to the proper wording. So....your assistants voice mail was also an accidental mis-worded stock voice message? Again with the dishonesty.11. Then you told me a crew was supposed to come work on the hotel and my reservation subverted the work plan so you had to reschedule the workers. For New Years--one of the biggest holidays of the year, you were planning to close to have work done and choosing to forgo holiday business? Which is it, pandemic or workers?12. To be clear--I am NOT upset because I wanted to cancel after the cut-off date. I am upset because your lack of integrity negatively impacted me and my special plans LONG before Covid did.
Kinda old. Bride had to clean her dress from marks on floor and just looked run down. I asked for more bread 3 times and the soda was flat. Also the garlic herb mashed potatoes were sweet like sugar got mistaken for salt. When asked they said yeah they were supposed to be this way. They must make all there money on golf. I have done several banquets and this one was unique.
Upon check in we were told there was a wedding and The Tavern was closed until 6:30. We were not told that the music would be unbelievably loud in our room. We almost left at 9:30 because it was so bad. I dont think booking online should excuse a business from providing a quiet hotel room. We wont be back, especially after your response.
We were here for Sunday brunch today. The food was pretty good for a buffet, the service Not so much! The girl who was waiting on us (Emily)., took forever refilling our beverages, never cleared away a used plate, and we had to wait quite a while for the check, when it was obvious that we were finished(we even stacked all of our used plates for her). They definitely need a better system, or need to hire more help.
I just wanted to follow up with a quick note to Nikki and all the staff at the Hotel and Jeannie and her catering staff. My wife and I had our son and future daughter-in -laws rehearsal dinner at the hotel and we could not have been happier with the professional service we received. The bride and her attendants stayed at the hotel to get ready for the Wedding, all went exceptionally well!We had reserved a number of rooms for after the wedding reception and even thru the fire alarm Nikkie made sure we were all secure. What a great time we had and thank the staff for all the helpful service.
Amazing open space, great buildings, very nice rooms. Service was excellent despite their being no food served on Monday due to the dinner room being booked, meaning we had to drive down the road for dinner. Trevor found solutions to resolve some WiFi issues & a lack of an ice-bucket in the room. The range of liquid soaps sold at the Spa (and in every shower/bathroom) are excellent, so pick some up.
I had a massage at the spa and it was well worth it! The spa services are a bit expensive but the staff is friendly, the facility is professional and clean, and the services are high end! They offer a robe and flip flops for your stay and always have complimentary drinks and toiletries for your convenience. I would definitely book here again.
My daughter and son-in-law had their reception here in October. Please know that their claims on their website are erroneous. “...the Southern Tier’s premier wedding destination. We are a one-stop shop...ensuring everything is planned and personalized to your needs and expectations.” These claims were not backed up, in our experience. Although guests were largely unaware of issues, there were many! Too few servers, in dirty uniforms, made dinner service a 2 hour affair. The beautiful cake and artisan ice cream never made it to at least 1/3 of our guests, including my table. The cake that was served was pathetically small...typically one single layer about an inch wide from a cake that had four 4-layer tiers. Who knows what happened to any leftover ice cream. The heaters were not all working properly and we would have rented more had it been suggested those provided might not be enough or work properly. If it had not been for the amazing work of Katie Legg at Festivities Wedding and Event Planner, Rick Niznik of Mulberry & Fern, Terry Burke Sound & Audio, DJ John Adams and his wife Jill at the photo booth, Gabriella LoPicccolo of Gabriella’s Cakes, and Katie Peck of She Rents Vintage, the affair would have been merely mediocre. All of these wonderful vendors were hired by and paid by the couple, not Traditions. What Traditions will provide, for a five figure minimum, is the site, better chairs for an extra fee, food, and beverages. If you don’t have a fabulous coordinator, and if you haven’t mapped out every detail, you definitely will not have a “premier” experience and your expectations will only be met if they’re not very high. I did meet with the GM and 2 other staff to discuss our concerns with the hope that they will improve their service in the future. While there was some remuneration, I had very few answers(what happened to all that cake & ice cream) and have come away from the experience vowing never to hold another event there or recommend that anyone else should. UPDATE: I just saw a review here from a friend and the response from the GM, Vincent Sano, is inaccurate. As I said, I met with him and that meeting did not include a rave review nor any expression of gratitude from this couple for making their day special. The worst part of this experience was how truly disappointed both the bride and groom were about their one and only special day. It’s especially disappointing when there seems to be a lack of integrity.
This is definitely a gorgeous property, and the hotel itself looks stunning. I stayed for a night with my boyfriend and it was just a nice little staycation. While the room was nice, the TV had some major problems (the remote wouldnt work and the DVD player was a wreck). For the price I expected it to be a bit fancier, but over all I was pleased.
My visit was to the Spa only on Sunday, July 7, 2019. I have booked massages with this facility in the past. From the moment I walked in to when I left, the experience was fabulous. I was greeted by a receptionist who was very nice and accommodating. The facility was clean and more importantly the massage was wonderful.
We had a company picnic out back and they had the Binghamton zoo come by for the kids, it was fantastic. There was a waitress that stopped me and complemented me on my shirt, she also loves plaid, she was extremely nice and helpful a fee times throughout the day. There was another female staff who was older and was very friendly and we talked for a moment. I love their employees, they are all just so nice!
Good location with excellent views. Rooms were clean but could use some minor updating. For example my shower faucet had was showing signs of wear as did the hallway carpet in some places. Check in took a lot longer than it should have due to receptionist being missing in action. Still the good far outweighed the bad..
Had a dinner there with a large crowd of over 200. It was very classy, the food and service were great as well! Even with the tons of rain we got the night of our get together, this outdoor tent-style venue stayed dry! It was beautifully decorated and had a wonderful atmosphere.
Beautiful holiday Decor convenient breakfast in the morning. Sitting room by the fire to read the paper is priceless. The traditional feel is very home-like. The staff are very courteous and helpful. Some rooms smell a little musty, but it goes away. We usually have 2 adjoining rooms. It feels like home and I would not stay anywhere else.
Was very happy with hair care services and a nail service a received!!! The staff were all super friendly!!! The facility is gorgeous and very well maintained!!! I also booked a couples massage for myself and husband and a separate one for my mom and dad and all were amazing! My mom and dad are from IL and they loved it!!!! Highly recommended!!!
My review is for the Salt Sanctuary which I have visited several times over the last couple of years. Very easy to make a reservation for a time and the staff was very friendly. I have respiratory problems and I honestly feel my breathing is much better after a visit to the Sanctuary. Very peaceful and relaxing during the session. I recommend this to anyone who wants to breathe better and totally unwind from stress..
This is about the golf course, and the director of golf. I’ve been playing golf a long time, and I have NEVER had an experience this poor on a golf course. There was a stretch during this season where I would play Traditions once a week, now I will never return.I had reserved an 845AM tee time on a Sunday. Pace of play was a little slow, but that’s to be expected on a weekend on a busy day. What’s not expected is to have a large tournament event, with a shotgun start, to start 3 hours after your tee time. We got to the 17th hole to see 4 different groups waiting to tee off. All 4 of these groups were paying customers from the morning tee times. There was a group from this tourney teeing off, and another group from the tourney was on the fairway, while one more group was on the green. After playing 16 holes in around 3 hours, I estimated it would’ve taken another 1 1/2 to 2 hours to play the last 2 holes. Which is just ridiculous. The group directly in front of us voiced their displeasure with the course and left without finishing. My group decided to do the same. The situation basically made the last two holes unplayable. No one wants to spend that long to play two holes. As we drove off, I noticed the group behind us also drove off as well. That’s a lot of paying golfers not finishing the round of golf they paid for, and who knows how many more groups left.I decided to go into the pro shop to voice my concerns with what happened. First, the pro shop attendant got very argumentative, offered zero apologies, and zero compensation of any kind. My family and I play this course a lot, and I am familiar with the director of golf, Brandan, so I asked to speak with him. He came to the clubhouse, told me that he “had a lot more important things to be doing” -(this is a direct quote, and an absolutely terrible way to talk to a customer), and proceeded to act like there was nothing wrong with the situation. Again, offering zero apology for us being unable to finish our round of golf. I honestly would’ve been appeased with an apology, and maybe a $10 gift card or something. GOOD customer service, would’ve been to offer a 9 hole rain check and a sincere apology. The fact that this was a nice, sunny, beautiful day to play golf, and at least 3 entire groups of golfers did not finish their round, means there was a massive problem with how things were run on this day. If you want a tournament to take priority over normal weekend tee times, then you need to make sure those people are informed about the situation before happily taking their reservation in advance, and their money. Of, better yet, do not reserve tee times that will certainly be interrupted by the tourney. We were never told about this tournament at all. If sending out the tournament ahead of the morning wave was a last minute decision, it was a bad one. If there was no other options, then you need to make it right with the customers that were unable to finish their round. I have never left a golf course with such a sour taste in my mouth, and I cannot remember ever seeing such awful customer service.
Have seen some decline here since my last visit. Was the wind taken from their sails when they didnt get casino bid? My room was still comfy and staff I interacted with were pleasant, but had no maid service during my 2 night stay, which wasnt an issue for me, but just odd as nothing was mentioned. F&B service limited during the holidays too, which was disappointing. Overall, still enjoy the classic style, natural environment of the Glen and comfortable surroundings.
Attended multiple events at this location, including dinner dances, weddings, and recruitment events. This venue is nice in appearance and cleanliness and the staff is very courteous. The food is usually good, though the have been some selections that Ive not been pleased with. Overall 4 out of 5 stars.
Disclaimer: my father worked at IBM so the Glen and Country Club are hallowed ground for me, so have fond memories of the place since childhood. For Christmas 2016 I stayed at Traditions to be close to my parents house, while providing the opportunity for my yearly hike at the Glen. The rooms while small, are decently appointed although a mini-fridge would be nice. My family had Christmas eve dinner and it was much better than expected. Food is not always available so keep that in mind if you are expecting room service. For those who like peace and quiet, Id highly recommend this over alternatives in downtown Binghamton, or over on the Vestal Parkway. The real draw here is a serene location and an outdoor wonderland right outside the back door. As long as you arent expecting a 5-star resort with a commensurate price, this place boasts a young but welcoming staff who goes out of their way to make for a pleasant stay. I enjoyed it so much I am considering a reunion here with high school friends in the coming year. Recommended.
Love staying here for a low key night away from home. This is the second year we have spent the night for new years eve and though we didnt stay at the hotel for much other than sleeping, its always a great experience. The front desk staff is attentive and friendly and the rooms, while creaky, have a charm about them and are homey and comfortable. Will stay here again and maybe partake in the spa and tavern next time!
I visited the spa for hair and makeup on my wedding day and always wanted to return because they have a wonderful atmosphere. We brought out of state family to the mothers day brunch and they did not disappoint. Staff is excellent, grounds are beautiful and food is delicious. They are simply the best in the Binghamton region.
Office Christmas party in the banquet hall. Dinner was delicious, everything was great. The room was a bit hot on account of the fireplace being lit, but I was probably the only one in the room that didnt welcome the heat. All in all, a great place to host a get together. Well be back.
Overall, my stay was very good. The staff was very nice and attentive to our needs. The rooms themselves were very well kept. However, our temperature control appeared to be dysfunctional and the ventilation was loud. Overall, I would stay here again and would recommend it to other travelers.
I love this golf course. But, there is a big caveat.I guess it depends on ones golfing ability, but their 1st cut off the fairway is too long.If you miss the fairway by 6, its very difficult to locate your ball because the grass is taller than the balls diameter.Very, very frustrating.I guess the answer is to be better at golf... I mean, lets face it, we all want to play better, right?!
Convenient location. We checked in well after dark and left first thing in the morning so I cant comment on the views that other people are so impressed with. But our room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. Bed was a little soft for our taste but thats a personal preference.
So disappointed in the Mothers Day brunch. We love the Sunday brunch normally but on Mothers day there is less food options then normal and is mediocre at best. Calling it a brunch is laughable as there was almost no breakfast food.Oh by the way who has the AC on when it is 40° outside. To be fair go to Traditions for any other brunch then Mothers Day it is awesome.
Stayed on golf package with my wife. Played at Traditions (The Glen), Conklin and En-Joie. Traditions booked everything, tee times and all. Paid one fee at the hotel, nothing due at courses. Traditions is actually more convenient location to the golf courses than staying downtown Binghampton. Staff was great, super friendly and helpful. Hotel was nice, tons of history - was former IBM country club. The king room was smaller compared to Double Tree where we have previously stayed, but very clean and comfortable. Golf course just feet away, was in very good condition especially considering the near constant rain the area has had since last fall. Free hearty continental breakfast had something for everyone. There is a small bar with limited hours (or you can go over to pro-shop bar/grille) and they offer dining on-site but we did not dine there as we had other plans for dinner. SPA was very nice. We did the Salt Sanctuary and Steam Shower. Quite nice and reasonably priced. The downside vs. downtown Binghampton hotels is you have to drive to restaurants or bars, but they are all 15 minutes away. The other thing to consider is Traditions does lots of weddings, so weekends might be crowded and noisy compared to the weekdays which we did (Wed, Thu, Fri). I would definitely stay at Traditions again. We had a great time there.
Went for the annual labor law conference. They serve a decent spread for their breakfast meeting. Ample space and nice setting. Only issue was the feedback from the microphone. I sat to the far side of the room and it was all I could hear. It was also pretty chilly in there. I didnt even take my coat off
I got the Restore Package which is a salt sanctuary visit, massage, mani and pedi. The massage therapist, Brad, was very professional and gave an amazing massage. The best massage Ive ever had! Just the right amount of pressure! For being 38 weeks pregnant at the time he was able to make me feel so relaxed and comfortable, very impressed. The mani and pedi were also amazing. Lea was great to talk to and also did an awesome job on my nails and I felt very well taken care of. Thank you so much! I needed that day of relaxation. I left very happy!! :)
First impression is that Housekeeping moved fast and didnt look closely at their work; bed was messily made.Spent 3 nights over Thanksgiving Weekend. 1st night was awful. Banging noise from the room upstairs; sounded like the gym was above me and people were dropping their weights or the furniture was being rearranged. This happened at midnight and then again at 3:30am. Couldnt sleep. Front Desk lady offered me breakfast and apologized for the noise. The guests above me THANKFULLY checked out that day.Bed was uncomfortable; it fell loop sided - like I was going to come rolling out of it and very noisy. The free amenities bottles (shampoo, bath gel, hair conditioner) were empty; thank goodness I brought my own.One toilet paper roll was empty and the other one almost gone.Room didnt get cleaned on Saturday - even though I put the service please sign on the door. Had to call the Front Desk at 10:30pm to get extra towels and toilet paper.I will not stay at this location again and wont recommend it.
I could stay at the spa all day. Relax and enjoy the silent sound of no kids, no drama, and no worries. Leave feeling renewed. Go to the hair salon and get pampered. Well worth the trip and money. Leave looking beautiful and confident. Easy parking and ur treated like royalty.
Went to traditions for a burger for me and a salad for my beauty Queen Kit Kat. Our waitress (bartender) was excellent....food was great. I just wonder why the fireplace wasnt going as it was raining out Maybe management needs to get on their toes Or Traditions should find someone who CAN. Our visit overall was nice and glad to hear Jim is still the Chef. Watson would be glad.
Going down hill fast. Over the past year and a half I would visit at least twice a month for hair, nails and products. It was a nice escape. If someone is looking for a first class salon/spa I am sorry to say this is no longer it.Over the past few months I have noticed a change in front desk staffs attitude and upkeep of the facility. It went from being one of my favorite places to a below average spa. A prime example is equipment breaking, i.e. the nail polish removing tool was not replaced for weeks ,when I am paying for a manicure I would hope for the correct equipment. Oh and then this past week lack of heat in the changing room for massages. This week, I received a call saying the stylist, Kat (Nails, hair and tanning), who I had seen from day one was no longer there. I was always impressed with how much pride Kat took in her work and she went above and beyond each visit. I could deal with poor upkeep but that combined with this is a deciding factor for me.I am waiting to hear where my stylist ends up and will be moving all of my business there.
Such a sad sad disappointment! They may be putting all efforts and resources into the spa and banquets/events and very little into their hotel rooms and hospitality. We stayed at Traditions on our wedding night as a gift from my mother who went in person with my sister after they made the reservations to make sure they knew we were newlyweds and paid extra for champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Not only was none of this in our room, our room wasnt even cleaned properly. There was splatter on the bathroom floor and something brown spilled all over the front door frame as well as a half eaten mint under the bed. The slippers were so old and ratty, they looked like a dog toy. When we arrived at the hotel at midnight in full wedding attire with our hands full we waited over 5 minutes for the man behind the desk to get off the phone. We then waited over ten minutes as he tried to check us in. He clearly was inexperienced. He knew nothing about what he was doing. We were supposed to jave laye check out but apparently the cleaning staff wasnt informed as they came and rudely asked us if we were leaving or staying another night. It was very off putting. It was 58 degrees in our room when we finally got in and took forever to warm up. We then got locked out our room twice because the room keys stopped working for some reason. When we told the woman at the desk when we left how disappointed we were, her response was that she would check the cleanliness of the room. She offered in no way to make things right. I will say the breakfast was great. I can give them credit for that, but overall the whole experience was a poor value for its price. We then felt terrible having to tell my mom that it was such a disappointment.
I recently had my hair and makeup done at the Spa for a wedding that I was attending. Not only was I super pleased with the results but there was no wait time and both my appointments were done in a little over an hour. I would highly recommend the stylists and cosmetologist there. They were very friendly and did just what I wanted.
The spa is professional friendly and relaxing. Its fabulous to have this locally and to feel like you left town to go somewhere glamorous! The atmosphere is lovely. I have enjoyed the salt sanctuary, mani-pedis, facials and massages. All were great! Ive given gift certificates as gifts that were enthusiastically received.
I was struggling to find a salon in the area that met my needs and fulfilled my random needs to change my look. Traditions not only had that in one of their best stylists, Ashley Roberts, they also have excellent spa services. Ive started to see Elisabet for massages and I couldnt be more pleased with the services. The staff also respond very quickly to feedback and are fast to work with clients to make sure they have a positive experience. Go there!
There is some history here and the spa is amazing but the hotel itself and staff at the hotel could use some hospitality training. The business center has boxes in it. Cant even get a bottle of water at night. Definitely not a restaurant onsite unless you are at a function.
I attended a local event at Traditions recently. I have been to weddings and events at Traditions at the Glen over the years and find that their service is hit or miss. Food was good, as usual, but for this event we had an appetizer table and passed apps. They only had one server for us so the hot food did not circulate quickly. The cold apps were gone very soon after the food hour started and nothing was refilled. What was supposed to be a light ‘dinner’ ended up being barley one small plate for me, and my colleague who showed up just before our guest speaker received nothing.
I spent an afternoon last Wed...started with a facial by Alexa which was wonderful. Then I had a pedicure and manicure by a n 18 year old girl. The pedicure was ok but she didnt remove obvious callous points. The manicure was the worse I have ever had. She used a stick and a worn emory board to remove gel polish and file nails. She didnt trim any of the dead skin around nails. The spa managetrattempted to explain reasoning..please I get manicures twice a month at salons which charge half the price.. Its a shame to charge such high prices for inadequate service. I used gift cards and thought it would be special!
For a banquet type event, Traditions is a nice choice. The food was very good, and the rooms are nice. I wish there was a bar for drinks, but the event I attended did not include that. There may be an option to include one, but I dont know as I did not organize the event. Overall it was a very good choice for a banquet.
Our extended family had Fathers Day brunch at Traditions. The omelets were great, the bacon crisp but otherwise it was disappointing. The pastries were not fresh, waffles were cold, hard to get the waitresses attention for coffee and drink refills and tables were very close together so it made walking from buffet to table difficult especially since we had a blind person with a guide dog. This was our first time there and probably wont be back.
My husband hosted my 50th birthday party at The Spa at Traditions. He worked with the staff to set up a party room and create a wonderful day of pampering for me and my friends. It was so nice to spend a cold winter day wrapped in a luxurious Spa robe, and enjoying mani-pedis, massage and the Salt Cave. The staff was friendly and fabulous. My friends and I had a great time. We ended the afternoon with a Happy Hour upstairs in the Tavern - it was such a treat to have such a getaway event right here in town.
I went for a relaxation massage. The massage was fantastic and I even got some very reasonable add-ons, a honey heel glaze wrap and a sinus treatment with an accupressure facial massage. My massage therapist was wonderful, as was my whole experience there. Ive gone a few times with my husband for couples massages and weve never been disappointed.
My husband and I try to stay at Traditions at least once a year. We stayed for the first time in 2013 for our honeymoon and absolutely loved the experience and atmosphere. It is now our little tradition to book a stay at least once a year for our anniversary or a just because date.
Just had out Triple Cities Seniors Tourment today. Course was not in good shape. They had half the senior Tees moved back where most seniors couldnt even have a chance. Went in for the meal and ran out of food. Waited 15 minutes for them to bring more food out and never did. Walsh should be ashamed the way is running that course. Will be my last time ever to play there.
They treat their employees like slaves. They make them work for almost minimum wage and dont get appropriate tips on events that that can cost over $30,000, maybe 40-50 dollars if they are lucky serving and working their ass. Not somewhere I would spend my money! Will never hold an event their again after I found out this information.
The salt spa at Traditions is a relaxing and peaceful experience. In addition to the hour of quiet relaxation, it is also very beneficial to the lungs. The Hymalayan salt detoxifies and helps to bring the body into a blissful, balanced state of better health.I highly recommend this wonderful experience.
Came here for an anniversary party. It is a lovely, older(albeit only a bit dated) hotel. The rooms were as expected, and the gas fireplace was the winner(as the temperature only reached the mid 20s).The staff went out of their way to guide us toward hiking activities before our massages. The young man at the front desk(sorry cant remember his name)was exceptional and went out...

2022-06-08I received a gift card for Traditions and wanted to treat my granddaughter to a girls day out. I called and was able to book us both appointments for haircuts on the same day, at the same time. Thats where the ease of this experience ends. Upon sitting down in the chair, I told the stylist I needed at least 2 inches taken off my hair. She asked me how I usually wore it and I explained that I sometimes took some hair from the right side and clipped it over to the left side. So the stylist proceeded to clip my hair this way and then cut it while a portion of my hair was flipped to the opposite side. In my head I was thinking that this was wrong because if I didnt flip that exact portion of hair, there would be an uneven chunk. But I didnt say anything. She finished cutting my hair and I couldnt even tell anything had been done. I told her again that I would like more length taken off. In all, I asked three different times for her to take at least 2 inches off. It took her 75 minutes to cut my hair straight across at the shoulders. Sure enough, when I left the salon I looked in the mirror and there was a chunk of hair on one side of my head that was significantly longer than the rest of my hair and I had to cut it myself once I got home. My granddaughters haircut was also a joke because they barely trimmed her ends. All in all, an hour and 15 minutes for a negligible difference for both of our hairstyles. When we went to cash out, it was $50 per haircut! I couldve gotten a better haircut in less time by stopping in at Cost Cutters. Absolutely ridiculous! The icing on the cake was that my gift card was for $120 and when I cashed out, they asked if I wanted to leave the remaining $20 as a tip. I honestly felt like only tipping $5 per haircut since it was such a poor experience, but I knew I would never be coming back here to spend the gift card otherwise. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.Updated: 6/8/2022Management reached out to me to see what they could do to make things right. I received a credit for future use. I will update my review once I return to the salon & spa.

2022-05-19This place is beautiful and I would definetly stay again. It’s quiet and very restful. I came late 11:00pm. It was raining. I had 2 bags plus a couple of little extra bags. Only problem. I was struggling. I had a cane and I had to get my own things onto a wrack and upstairs by myself. Then park my car in the parking lot and walk again down the little hill back to my room. There were two people there and they just watched me. No one offered to help. Now I’m not helpless!!! I wouldn’t ask for help -‘And I didn’t. My bad! But they could have offered. Anyway. It’s still a beautiful location and I would come again.

2022-06-22The rooms and amenities are decent but they really need to improve on Breakfast options. I was there for 3 nights and every morning the breakfast was same and options were very limited. Otherwise its located in a beautiful setting and l the rooms are well maintained too.

2022-04-22Binghamton area got hit with a snow storm. So my family lost power at their home and with four kids, needed to find a hotel to stay. We called Traditions and they said they had available rooms. By the time my brother and sister-in-law packed up clothes and wrangled the kids into the car, then got to Traditions to check in. They told them they couldnt tell them what the price of the room would be for the stay because they had no internet (and no cable for the rooms). It was almost 8pm and late for the little ones ... so they decided to stay, only to find when they got to the rooms there was also NO HOT WATER and NO HEAT (in a snow storm). On top of that, they charged-- over $200 per room for 2 rooms. On a normal day their rooms go for $100-$150/night! To charge almost double that without HEAT/HOT WATER/CABLE is disgusting price gouging. When they tried to talk with management, management was arrogant and rude, unhelpful to say the least. Needless to say they, nor I, will ever stay there again.

2022-07-02Stayed the night last night, the only good thing about it was the bed was comfortable. We ate at the Tavern restaurant. The food was not worth the money, there was also a very belligerent couple at the bar yelling at each other and asking the bartenders inappropriate questions and we weren’t able to enjoy our dinner very much.

2022-03-08I’m very disappointed in the lack of customer service we have received here. My husband and I had our wedding here in 2019 and recently stayed for our anniversary. It it such a beautiful location/ venue and it’s really unfortunate that the customer service is lacking. I would love to come back and stay every year and would be willing to spend a lot of money between the spa and hotel, however it doesn’t seem worth it at this point.

2021-12-30Beautiful, quiet hotel. Mix up with my reservation that was not their fault. Only criticism was the lack of detail at breakfast. Coffee ran out the first morning and couldnt find anyone to refill it. Had difficulty finding the silverware. Second morning was better, but one of the coffee creamers had run out and there were no napkins.

2021-10-30Great expectations but it fell short on the personable side. Booked because they had golf, room and dinner all in one place so i could relax and enjoy and not drive anymore for the day. Checked in quickly, told given a great view, turns out it was the parking lot and a small hill beyond. Before we left to golf our room was 68, turned the heat to 72, returned 4 hours later and it was still 68. So then turned it up to 74. It was then I inquired about the dining room and they said it would not open as they didn’t have a bartender. Now I need to drive back into town, glad I didn’t drink any beers on the golf course. Got back from dinner and the room was teetering between 68-69’. Went to the front desk and asked for blankets and told them the problem. Response was “really, that’s odd”. I told them my room number then but was met with a blank look. This could have been a fantastic stay so it makes me sad

2022-01-30Wonderful service. We had a birthday party there. Food was great, staff was great. All of our guests had a wonderful time.
