Ate here with friends for my birthday and it was incredible. The staff was so friendly. We sat in doors and I felt perfectly safe because of their Covid prevention policies. We had the burger, the fried chicken and the pastrami and all of them were cooked to perfection and each tasted just as good as the other. The beer nuts were not great, but other than that, amazing. I will be returning.
This is my new favorite craft beer spot in Brooklyn! Great selection of beer, limited but intriguing selection of food (we had the Prime Beef Tartare and Rhubarb Granita). The place was packed on the Saturday night we visited (as expected) but the service was excellent - prompt attention at the bar and food came out timely.
Good place to try different beers. The staff was fun and knowledgeable about the offerings. They offer each drink in three different sizes which is nice if you just want to try something for the first time. Small food menu with snacks and appetizers, I would just go if you want to grab a couple drinks.
THE premier beer bar in Brooklyn. If youre a craft beer fan, this is the place to go! Our bartender Jack was super knowledgeable and friendly. 21 taps of all different types of beer from all over the world. Food is awesome too. Will be back and will be bringing friends!
Hands down the best beer bar in the US right now. The ever changing selection is perfectly picked and Ive never been disappointed. Have taken non-beer drinkers there and converted them. Paired with their amazing food menu this is my favorite place in the city no questions asked
If you only have time for one beer during your stay in the city, this is where you drink it. This sleek Danish Modern taproom boasts 21 handles that consistently pours the most sought after beers in all of New York. Expect to see evil twin beers on the tap list, as well as the brewery owner himself.
Amazing beer list. Seemed to be a Trillium takeover the night we went so there were a lot of Trillium beers and collabs on tap. Everything was delicious. They have a very limited food menu. Burger, hot dog, cheese plate, meat plate, and olives. We got the olives. They had anise on them and I hate licorice so I wasnt thrilled with them.I dropped my review by one star due to how dark the place is. Its difficult to see the menu and easier to get drunk without knowing. A bit more lighting would have made all the difference for me
Great beer selection! Have not been here yet during Covid but before you were able to sit at the bar and talk beer with the guys. Now it’s best to make a reservation. Glad you all are surviving hope that everything gets open again ASAP. Definitely a great place to take a date.
Tørst is definitely one of the top places I bring people who I want to impress. Incredible beer and food options in an unpretentious atmosphere, not to mention stellar service. They have installed a very nice covered outdoor setup with heat lamps - I spent nearly three hours there recently and didn’t think about the temperature outside once!
Not cheap, but always an excellent selection of rotating beer on tap, each served at exactly the right temperature, something youll appreciate, especially with the complex porters and stouts. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Been there a few times, never felt it was overwhelming packed. Small but tasty menu, but its snacking more than going there for a meal. Also good is that there are three or four other places worth checking out in the immediate vicinity.
We absolutely love this place. The staff is welcoming, service is amazing, and the food is delicious. Beer selection is always on point, and the menu is very thoughtfully organized. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about the beer and not pretentious about it. We learn something new everytime. Its my favorite place in NY. Hands down.
Went here to get the Evil Twin Beers on draft and was pleasantly surprised to find out they have many other beers too. Has a wonderful tap room in an upscale setting, going against the recent trend of having taprooms in rusty settings. Service is amazing and did I mention they have an excellent collection of craft beers?
Everyone talks about this place but I was a little underwhelmed. Overcrowded. Basic overdone decor. Great craft beer selection though. Order beer not cocktails. Good prices. Fun vibe. Very hip spot. Hip people. Though its mostly full of bigger groups, I would suggest going here with more than 2-3 people. Large and friendly staff so its pretty easy order instead of other popular bars where it takes an hour to just get the bartenders attention. Not a place to meet people or go on ones own.
One of my favorite spots in Greenpoint, and probably my favorite place for beer in all NYC. With 21 rotating taps, they have something for every kind of beer drinker; fewer options exist in the way of wine and cocktails. It’s a little pricey but I’ve never been disappointed. The food menu is limited but several notches above the average bar food, and the staff is always kind + helpful. They host private events with the option of customized menus for what I’d consider a competitive rate.
Amazing beer bar. Each beer has its very own temperature- and pressure-controlled tap line. You wouldnt think that would make a difference, but every beer comes out with the perfect pour. Theyve also got plenty of variety and cool minimalist decor. I spent an afternoon there with 7 friends and had a great time. If youre a beer fan, you should go.
Finally visited after being told to so many times. Solid draft list and extensive bottle list. I got to try some interesting beers that I would have never had the opportunity to try in Texas. Its a really nice space, very clean and very quaint. I will definitely be back.
Great beer bar with an excellent selection of beers. Its nice that they offer 3 different size pours (and prices) so that you can sample a lot of different things...and youll want to because they have a lot of interesting beer from all over. Our bartender was great and knowledgeable. A must visit if you love craft beer.
I really want to like this place, but I guess Im just not fancy enough of a beer drinker. All of the special beers rotate and theyre all served in these fancy glasses that look like big wine glasses. I love the wood paneling on the inside and the bartenders are very nice and knowledgeable. They dont offer any other drink options besides beer and there isnt any food so thats a downer for me. However, all my beer snob friends think this place is great!
As a concept this place is nicely executed. We really enjoyed it and Im keeping it on my list. Beer!!! Selections are great and u can order smaller sizes and try more styles. Food was very good. Get bread. Cheese plate was done beautifully. Burger and hot dog were super tasty. Nice spot.
Great beer selections! A nice place to chill at during the week I would say, bring a date and youre chilling! Around the busy times and weekends you will notice how tight and crowded this place can get so come early if you do stop by. Solid place for beer lovers or even for those not crazy about it but wouldnt mind a brew with taste to it (non-beer drinkers you know what i mean).
This is a really solid beer bar with a good atmosphere. My group came here after we had trouble finding spots at more crowded Brooklyn rooftop bars on a weekend early evening (before dark) and we had a great time. The beer list was superb, the tap setup was impressive, the service was great (we sat at a table with a waiter), and we were able to hold a conversation without screaming.
The menu is small and excellent. The burger is the best burger I have ever had. I had to go back and have it again and the 3 people I brought said the same thing. I also had the sweet potato which had me in awe.The beer selection is perfect imo. The service is superb and the staff are very friendly and very professional. This place may serve 5 star food but it has the perfect laid back Brooklyn atmosphere.Yup I’m in love
Love the decor in this place. Great idea to make the beer taps sync up with the the lightness/darkness or whichever beers are on tap, ranging from lightest at one end of the bar to darkest on the other. Specialty beer glasses that tie into the ceiling and wall decor was nice, too. Great fun beer drinking experience!
Love this beer spot! The selection of Evil Twin is the best in the city until the ET taproom opens in Ridgewood. There are also lots of fun Norwegian brews to try and Scandinavian food to eat. And who doesn’t like drinking beer out of wine glasses for maximal temperature control?
Im not hooked to this place anymore and am actually a bit a-shamed.The prices have always been high, but in the past year or so theyve noticeably gone up even more. They still do have rare and unusual things on tap, but theyre well out of the average persons price range, Id assume. Plus, its absolutely packed on weekends with no place to stand much less try to order. Youd probably be better off down the street at Mugs Ale House, where the decor is much more basic but the beers are similar and $2-$4 cheaper.
There is a reason why it is consistently the best beer bar in NYC, easily top 5 in the world. If you go Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday you will see at least 50 different beers on tap. They have 20 tap handles and nothing lasts too long. I wish the cans would change over as fast as the taps. The reserve bottle list is always a treat if you share it with friends. Follow on IG/Facebook for frequent updates.Bartenders are always super attentive and do not skip the food. This isnt normal beer bar deep fried food. This is quality. The sourdough and butter are great and got a nice shout out from EaterNYC, but dont forget to check the creativity of the chef the day. Ask for whats new. Dessert is always funky.
All the best brew spots have multiple size options and Tørst is one of them. Variety in size lets me try a bunch of interesting drinks before settling into any one for a large pour. Keeps my taste buds satisfied with different options and my desire to drink satiated by quality rather than quantity.Good bites here too. Going to come often and with friends. Seating and crowd wasnt too crazy for the Thursday night that I went. Filled but reasonable
Excellent Interior and of cause you are here for the beer collection. The vibe is more less like a super lay back lounge, you know what kind of place this is when they are pouring you beer in these colorful wine glasses( I suppose). Not a big fan of their food menu though because of its small portion.
If youre genuinely curious about beer this is the most wonderous place to go. On top of having some of the nicest servers in town, great music (at appropriate volumes so people can have a great time) food menu is equally outstanding. Atmosphere is exquisite! This place will keep you curious!
Really attractive and nice place to try some unique and craft beers or ciders that are on the taps here at Torst in Brooklyn. The inside is decorated with wooden throughout and contrasted by the big large marble bar that wraps around and the white marble wall where the taps are placed. It feels very warm, relaxed, and very inviting when you walk in.We grabbed a small table opposite the marble-topped bar and opened up the menu to have a look-see. All the beer is served in these really cheerful wine glasses that has a very Swedish design to them.We spent the next hour or so just trying the craft beers that peeked our interests. We slowly just sipped and had a nice quiet moment amid the hustle and bustle. We went in the afternoon so the bar was pretty low-key and quiet which I liked alot. I imagine during the busy hours, it would be hard to find a table in this space.
5 stars for interior design alone. Wide open space, long tables, minimal yet natural aesthetic thats a welcome reprieve from so many cramped, standing room only bars. Couple the exceptional environment with the most expansive and frequently rotated local and global craft taps and youre left with what could very well be the best craft bar in NYC.
First 1 star restaurant I ever went to and it didnt disappoint. Best meal Ive ever eaten and the beer pairings went exceedingly well with everything! We even had the best seats in the house being seated at the bar right in front of the kitchen so that we could see everything being made. The chefs were also very friendly and happy to talk about their food.
Best place in Greenpoint to grab an unusual beer you wont easily find anywhere else. Best part of its location is that is it surrounded with amazing restaurants if you are after a decent meal (Calexico being one I reccomend). They do have fancy bar food, however the rarely promoted beer selection is what drives people to this place.
One might be tempted to dismiss this place as Greenpoint hipster home of silly beer (e.g., I Love You With My Stout from Evil Twin Brewing.) That would be a mistake. There are 21 rotating taps - all in a Danish modern row and controlled via a steam punk distribution system. The beers are mainly from tiny breweries, many in NYC, and tend to have offputting descriptions such as sour biscotti.Buy try a few. The smallest size draft is 5 ounces, and the beer is organized light to dark from left to right. We tried several and they were all terrific - even the sour biscotti. Not to put too fine a point on it, but it changed how I think about what beer is.The bartender was knowledgeable, efficient, and happy to chat in as much depth as you like about the beers. We didnt try the food but it looked good. For anyone that likes beer this place is worth a trip
Excellent bar with scandinavian minimalistic interiors. Super-helpful guy in the bar that was talkative, but not intrusive. Theyve got an amazing bottle menu where you can bring bottles home. Yknow, if they have that special beer youve been hunting for your collection.
Ive never had an experience in a beer bar quite like this place. TØRST is so tapped into the local scene its ridiculous. People who come in are regulars, and regulars are brewers. All you have to do is tell them what you normally drink, and theyll have a recommendation that exceeds your go-to. And dont even sleep on their food. If nothing else, get the sourdough (local) and house-whipped butter.
All I wanted was a negroni. Then I realized after sitting down that wasnt an option 😅 This place is special and has certain drinks ready to go on draft along with beers. The selection is specific but actually quite good and the bartenders were knowledgeable about the product. Cool esthetic and a good selection, I recommend checking it out if youre in the neighborhood.
Upscale, marble-countered beer bar with a great rotating selection of drafts and a small but tasty food selection as well. If youre looking for a fancy spot to drink your beer, youve found it. No TVs, though they have a pull-down screen and projector for big games and the like.
This was a spur of the moment idea, and it was awesome. We had Russian tea and some breakfast. The service was impeccable and friendly, the tea divine, and the food wasnt bad either. This is a one-of-a-kind experience you cant find anywhere else. I had the quiche and, then blintzes for dessert. Its pricey but worth every penny. Make this part of your New York trip.
Both food and service at Luksus are easily five stars. Inside the sliding wooden door that separates the bar and the restaurant, is a very relaxed and comfortable dining room. We were promptly seated and two waitresses were incredibly attentive while never overbearing. The food started in about five minutes and, if including snacks as different items, each of the 11 courses came out within ten minutes of each other. Very unusual and pleasing flavor combinations were the draw. Not a single dish was boring. The chef made sure to let you know exactly what each plate was, and kept up small talk throughout. Recommended without questions.
When this place opened up my roomate and I used to hang there all the time. These days its a little more crowded so sometimes i prefer something more low key, but my god talk about a good beer selection. Half the time i go there I have one of those i cant believe they have this beer geek moments especially if your into saisons, sours, imperial stouts.
Torst was recommended by a friend of my husband, so we made the trek over to Brooklyn on a lazy Sunday afternoon and what a great find! The beers on tap were expansive and unique and the food offered at the bar paired exceptionally well with the beers. Great staff and great atmosphere ... wish it was closer. We will be back!
Great selection of beers, from classic styles to oddball and interesting ones, many with punny names (like Geyser Gose!). I also like that beers come in various size pours, so you have the option to drink less (and try more options). Show up on the earlier side of dinner hour and you might be able to get a table.
Friends have complained about this place being expensive. To those friends, I say go back to your neighborhood bar and enjoy that $6 pint of Stella. I prefer my beers interesting, with flavor, served by a knowledgeable bartender who will take my request for something strong and delicious and serve me a Molotov Cocktail with 13% ABV.
Its nice that they serve beer in wine glasses.Beyond that, it is pretty much your standard massively overcrowded, long and narrow, Brooklyn hipster hangout, for very young people of a certain demographic, who mysteriously have no trouble paying $4000/month for a studio apartment.
This small but beautiful space from Jeppe Bjergso of Evil Twin is a gem. Guaranteed to have the most interesting beer on tap in all of Brooklyn, and thats saying something. Its an eclectic mix of American and European rare beers, served by extremely knowledgeable staff. This is one of my favorite bars in the world.
Went here strictly for there selection of evil twin brewery beer. Which was a pretty good selection I was slightly disappointed because the didnt have my favorite ipa and I thought they would have more of a selection. The music was way to loud considering its not a dance spot. Nobody at my table of 10 could hear each other talk. Annoying. And instead of yelling last call the last half hour we were torchered with Britney spears and spice girls music to I guess hopefully leave. Seriously that was terrible not a way to get big tips and return visits.
If you want to find an eclectic selection of craft beers with excellent, kicked-up Scandinavian fare in a beautiful, wooden environment, this is the place for you. Bartenders are very knowledgeable at this beer-only joint, and craft beer snobs are drawn to it like moths to a flame.
Having been to Torst many times, I have heard a lot about Luksus and have wanted to try it. After finally taking the plunge, I can say that it is definitely worth it. Luksus delivers a fine dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere. Its also the only high end restaurant Ive ever been to that takes beer seriously. If youre going to go, you must do the beer pairing. It is setup with a tasting menu. The food was impressive. Luksus is a must visit for any foodie or beer lover.
I really wish Id read the reviews on Yelp before making a reservation to take people here for a special meal, but the vague relation to Noma blinded me.Lets get things straight, the food and the beer are both good. Everything else was not.Waited 30 minutes to be seated for our reservation at 9pm. Bad sign, but we had a beer at the bar and waited, growing hungry.Seated eventually, it was 15 minutes before we were approached to order. Two in the party had the tasting menu with beer, the other person order off the beer menu. The space is loud, I mean crowded bar loud. Not conducive to relaxing and enjoying a nice meal and conversing. My chair was uncomfortable. Decor is simple and nice. The meal was incredible SLOW! At different points we wait 35 and 45 minutes between courses! I began to wonder if they were letting us metabolize and burn all the calories before serving us the next course. The beer pairing fell apart entirely. Instead of being to enjoy the food and beer side by side, drinking the beer became what we did between small portions of food. All told we were there for 4.5 hours and had 6 courses. SIX.I asked a server at one point, how many courses were left?, and was told that there are only two chefs in the kitchen and that means only 4 hands. Really? Really? The total bill was nearly $450, so hiring an extra sous chef might be a good idea.
Nordic beer bar with a large offering of eclectic beers from Evil Twin, Mikeller, and other well known craft breweries throughout the world. Stunning marble bar and tap set up. All the beers are served in large wine glasses with either 5/8/12 oz pours. Bar snacks include cheese/charcuteries/sandwiches/burger. They used to have a tasting menu restaurant called Luksus downstairs but that has shut down. Apparently they will be reopening the restaurant with a new chef from Lazy Bear in SF. Bar menu will be revamped as well. Looking forwarding to revisiting.
This is a special bar.The Mikkeller Evil Twin separated from him in Denmark and opened Evil Twin in US.As talented as his brother, Evil Twin beers are absolutely amazing.Torst is owned by Evil Twin and in their marble bar with tulip glasses they serve the most pristine options of beers. Its also one of the only places you can get special beers that you cant find elsewhere, like the Bozo Beer.
This place is owned by the wife of Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø brewer at Evil-Twin brewing, and the day I was in he was behind the bar trying the beers and striking up conversations with the customers. There was a lot of Evil Twin on offer and some rarities from the scandinavian area id never seen before. 20 beers total on tap, in a clean, modern space that almost seems like a temple to the art of beer. They will do small pours which is great, allowing me to try more bers.Small menu of food that I didnt try.

2022-02-11A really cool beer bar with some good selections and a small but delicious food menu. Dont sleep on the dry-aged beef and mushroom burger, its one of the most underrated burgers in the city

2022-01-22Always a fun time visiting Torst for a quality afternoon day drink with your beer geek buddies. Its always nice to start with a couple drafts, then dig into the extensive bottle list.Love the lighting inside and knowledgeable, friendly staff. It can get busy, but the folks behind bar keep it moving and keep a good bar flow.

2022-05-28Such a great burger spot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn . Their menus is constantly changing . I got their DRY-AGED BURGER, SMOKED TOMATO JAM, GRUYÈRE, SPROUTS, RED ONION, TOASTED BRIOCHE BUN. And we all shared BURRATACOMPRESSED STRAWBERRIES, CHOCOLATE MINT, BREAKFAST RADISH, GRIDDLED SOURDOUGH and BABY GREENS SALADARUGULA, WATERMELON RADISH, SHAVED PARMESAN, FRIED SHALLOT, LEMON VINAIGRETTE. Basically we could have skipped the salad because the burger came with similar small green salad. They don’t have fries , sadly.

2021-10-14They have the trifecta: amazingly deep selection, offer 5oz pours, and list the menu on Untappd.I began with two 5 oz pours, both beers kicked, and while I think they got me 5 oz of each, they charged me for one. I couldnt believe they updated the untapped menu so fast, it was before I could check into the beer!

2022-04-13Beautiful ambience, better bartenders. Good beer, good burger ... This is a great afterwork spot or even a late lunch venue. The selection of beers is great, served on glasses ... Fancy for a beer but worth it.

2022-03-27Cozy and lovely place with an impeccable selection of draft beers on tap. I usually like my beer ice cold but I liked what I had especially ‘Estimation’ which was dark, bold, and bitter.

2022-04-02Love this place - really great beers. kind staff, a true five star establishment.Constructive criticism:-they could keep the latch bolt closed so you don’t have to use the door handle to open and close the front door when you have two beers in your hands.-Make more use of the deep fryer, their sandwich is delicious, let’s see some other cool fried stuff.-Note temp of beers in description - my guy came warm, which is fine, but I would have liked a cold boy. That’s all - this place rocks, go here.

2022-04-24Very good neighborhood bar with a variety of different drinks
