Great food and staff except they forgot the salad sauce on the side on my to go order. My guests ate bunch of vegetable without the sauce which was embarrassing. I called and told what happened. The lady on the phone said, I can have extra salad on my next order lol. Its not the free food Im rooting for. They should know that people pay because they rely on your service.
Love coming here. Food is excellent, always fresh and delicious. The restaurant is always clean and the staff and management are very nice and attentive. My favorite Turkish restaurant. I have never had a bad experience here. From appetizers to dessert , everything is always great.
Great food, great service and very cute place! It was our first time in New York and we were looking for a Turkish restaurant to have a nice dinner, found this one near the subway exit and not disappointed! Prices are really good compared to bunch of other Turkish restaurant we’ve been and portions were pretty big! That was a huge Iskender, had to ask for a to go box! Staff was very friendly and service fast pretty fast. Food was delicious. Closed the day with great Turkish coffee. Definitely stop by if you’d like some Turkish food!
The best hummus, I’ve ever taste in my life. Good environment, food is delicious and the kebabs very good too. The salads are very fresh, also the falafels are very crunchy. Totally recommend. They have a patio, that you can sit very comfortable and keeps physical distance. Good prices, finding parking it’s a little tricky.
Ordered off of seamless. The portions are big but I can’t believe how much we paid for unseasoned chicken and plain white rice. It looked nothing like the pictures. There was absolutely no taste. I ordered the chicken and my partner had the lamb and he’s been having stomach issues since last night.
Definitely a step up from your regular afgan grill restaurants. Customer service here was awesome, I love it when people make actual suggestions rather than being robots and say everything is good, depends on you.... Our waiter took the time to make recommendation based on previous customer feedback. Food was great, if your hungry I recommend you try there mix grill. Very friendly they even had us try free samples before we made our selection.
Pretty disappointed with most items here. After reading the following reviews, I had high hopes but sadfully everything we got was mediocre. Ordered the donor and the adana kabab. Both was really fatty and not cooked properly. Food was bland and just seemed really old. Staff was friend and attentive but the chef definitely had an off night. If you consider the cost the truth is there are a lot better options out there. Just take the time and venture out.
Very authentic Turkish restaurant. Great friendly staff. Delicious food, good variety and selection of food. For pick up I ordered variety of pide (like Turkish pizza). Also sat down for authentic Turkish breakfast and atmosphere was very good. Very satisfied and highly recommended!
Good turkish food. Pide(Turkish version of pizza) was good. I wish they was more vegitarian options for Pide (just 2). It would be great if Pide came with a dipping sauce. Falafel was average. Appetizer platter was good (Baba ghanoush, Hummus, zatziki, another eggplant dip) & they give you lots of fresh warm bread. We didnt have dessert, so cant comment on that. Service was excellect!
For vegetarians, options were limited. We had their platter for appetizer with hummus etc. And it was pretty good. Wine was delicious and was highly recommended by the staff. For main, I was bit disappointed as they didnt have many options. Its not a fancy place if you are looking for ambiance but I think their backyard opens up in the summer. Given other options in the area, we might not be back but the staff there was super friendly and nice.
The appetizers were great. Hummus didn’t disappoint and the kick on the esmi was amazing. The chicken gyro dish and Turkish tea were great. The kanefe dessert was fresh and capped off our meal nicely. Wish their hot sauce was a little spicier but didn’t detract from a memorable experience with the attentive staff and the food.
Disclaimer : I have only been here for breakfast on 3 occasions. This place is in Astoria. Amazing Turkish Breakfast. Their omlettes are high quality and so is the breakfast platter ( with different kinds of cheeze, salad, honey etc) .. the Turkish tea is okay. Never had any complaints with service. It has a pleasant ambience, very airy and there is an outdoor area in the back. 4 👍 up.
Brought my Chinese colleagues (they were pleasantly surprised as for them Turkish food is just kebap) for a breakfast after seeing that they are offering pide (aka. Turkish thin crust pizza) on the menu, which is a rare find in NY. Good service and nice range of food offering which is not limited to kebap kebap and some more kebap..
Food was average, and normally I would not write a review however this restaurant needs to go through basic customer service training and revisit on how to speak to people like decent human beings therefore ONE star just because i actually finished the meal. ZERO stars for customer service. Would not recommend.
I order family size mix grill which is 30 dollarsWhen I received the bill they charge me 90 dollars which is 3 mix grill I ask them why 3 the says when you order family mix grill we charge 3 mix gril + 1 lab chop 30All together 120 for family mix grillI never had that type of experience in my lifeAnd mix grill is not to goodNever go that place
Excellent excellent food! Try the manti! Or anything else!!! They check for vax so be ready with your card or Excelsior pass app. Staff is masked. Casual decor & dress. The busboy and I were the only 2 non Turks in the place. Cooks are from Izmir. GO EAT THERE! Steps from the last stop on the N or W.
I was there on 12/07/21 around 12 pm Found a hair on my mix gyro platter salad, after I just started eating my meal! Called the server to change it for me and I was given less portion than what I ordered! Didn’t quite expect that! BE CAREFUL while eating your salad there!
Food was great service was excellent place was very clean and organized. Would have gave 5 stars if they didnt seat us next to these two huge open doors in which a giant mosquito flew in and tried to suck my blood and there was a very cold strong breeze going thru my friend was freezing the entire time.
We ordered the Turkish pizza, spinach spread, hummus and fried chicken wing appetizers which were delicious! But when we ordered the main meals of mixed gyro and chicken they were lacking in spices, tenderness and flavor. Otherwise service was good and the food was prepared quickly.
The food was subpar at best. They didn’t ask anyone in my party for their vaccination cards and we saw what can only be described as a cockroach on steroids walk across the floor. When we pointed it out to our host they laughed it off. Really wish there was a 0 star option.
This place was recomennded to me so my husband and I went there. Big mistake. The food was bland and the stomach pain that it caused was akin to giving birth to triplets, without an epidural. No one on staff was wearing a mask and when we went to show our vaccine cards we were told that wasnt necessary. The only reason to eat here is if you are constipated.
Shocking. Twice in a row ordered lamb gyro and got other meat. I think if you order late they just give you whatever they have in rather than let you know. Ive picked up the same item twice in the day and its COMPLETELY different. Lamb gyro, looks like chicken/pork, pasty white meat cant even be bothered to eat it. Awful service.
Just ordered a $60 meal and asked for 1 additional white sauce, the lady behind the counter had the audacity to tell me it would cost me extra with an attitude! Really? I just spent $60 on a meal and you want charge for a small watered down white sauce? Other turkish spots normally dont charge you for an extra white sauce. Lost customer over white sauce 👍 lol. Its just the principle.
Im not sure how much star should I give it. The place is nice especially their backyard the food is delicious but this time they have this waitress who was aggressive, very rude and loud that disturbed the quiet and chill atmosphere of the place. Whenever she talks, we had the feeling she will attack us at anytime. We went there to chill and relax but we walked out very disappointed. I couldnt even eat properly, then once getting home I realised that I was still hungry. Honestly, we were very unhappy. Next time well opt for another Turkish restaurant. They all have the same kind of dishes anyway.
This place will always be a favorite of my family and I. Very delicious food it never lets us down and this restaurant is always in our top 5 places to eat for family dinner night! The chicken kebab is always a favorite, has been for many years. The ambience is very chill which I love and the back door seating place is perfect for those summer dinner nights! The inside is super neat and Mediterranean looking it’s beautiful. Employees are super quick & attentive which is great! Will always be coming back.
Unethical very sneaky billing practice. Be careful when paying with a credit card. They charge 20% tip first then the receipt will have the line for the tip for you to fill again. And if you leave it blank they will charge another 20% later on. You will end up paying around 40% extra for service. Put zero on the tip line and take a picture when paying with a C.C.I eat at this place at least every other week and the food is great, typical Mediterranean food.
So delicious. My Turkish roommate took my fiance and me out to this place for lunch. We had the Turkish pizza as an appetizer. Love the flavors and roasting of it. We ordered the mixed meat platter with lamb, steak, beef and chicken. The meat was cooked so succulently. The salad is very fresh and crisp.Their wait staff are friendly and nice. The rice was some of the best white rice Ive ever had. Pleasantly surprised by this place. Will definitely be having more Turkish food and I want to come back for their breakfast.Very cute ambience and reasonable prices.
Be careful of your bill. They will try to sneak in gratuity and also leave a space for tip. We trusted the bill and found out later that weve been tipping them like 35% each time we went. When we didnt go for a month somehow magically the gratuity wasnt there next time because they knew we found out. Why would you do that to your long term customer?Additionally, I ordered the steak last time and it came out very salty. Their middle eastern food is okay but not worth the travel to Astoria.
Its a very busy spot with a variety of Turkish food. I totally loved the pide, it was fresh out of the oven and so cheesy. Sigara and stuffed grape leaves were also great and we enjoyed them. Beef shish kebab and mix gyro platters were good, but the rice served with them were very bland and the plates were really small for the price. Another thing that threw me off was the 15$ service charge on the receipt and we also had to to tip extra. Also, there were only 2-3 waiters running around all the tables considering how busy the place is. They gave us the wrong pide and then the other server came back with the one we ordered. The staff itself was very hospitable, but I’d suggest increasing the number of servers.Other than that, its a good place to try turkish food.
Food is good, but 20% automatic service charge with an option to tip more on the credit card receipt for two guests and a child with no water service at a sit down restaurant is unfortunate. I used to frequent this place all the time pre Covid however with this type of practice post Covid the restaurant is much less desirable.
EXCELLENTAmazing foodWent there for a dinner with my familywe got Cold mixed Appetizers dipsAll of them were so deliciousThey serve it with homemade Fresh BreadGot mixed grill combination platter (Really good amount of Food )We finished up with Kunefe as a dessertOh Man it was just perfect!! Loved it.!!!They make also Homemade Rice pudding and a lot of other optionsGonna try them all eventuallyAlso they have house vine ,it was so tasty tooAffordable pricesAmazing Fast and attentive Service.GOOD JOB GUYS!Definitely Highly recommended
Ill keep it simple and short, went with a group of 5, we sat outdoors (ended up having a decent view of the night moon). Service was great the entire time we were there even when we the only people sitting outdoors. Everyone enjoyed their food and deserts were well done as well. Will be coming back
Really good Turkish food and a great deal on the lunch specials. Everything we had was good, nothing disappointing. So often you go to a restaurant and feel like it was a waste of money, but I felt like we really got our money’s worth here. Service was also very good and friendly. Highly recommend!
5 of us sat in the rear patio tonight. We come here a few times a year, but this was the first time back there. Nice atmosphere. We shared fried calamari, grilled bronzini, falafel and spinach pide. Great food! Love the rice and home made bread too! The only downfall was that the waitress was a little quick to remove the plates before we were finished. Enjoyed the evening very much!
First time trying Turkish food and all I can say is Wow! Everything was so fresh and well prepared. The chef really takes his time seasoning the food and cooking everything properly. The seating is open space with plenty of room. And the location is convenient right under the last stop on the N train. Highly recommend if youre in the area.
What a horrible experience, today, 3/3/21, at approximately 7:45 pm! The not so “gentle”man at the front welcomed me with a horrible attitude. As I went to pick up my order for take out, this person rudely exclaimed that one hour surpassed since my telephone order. I replied, yes, it has been an hour. He once again proceeded to remind me that it was one hour since I placed an order. This place puts a bad taste in my mouth, worse than the grape leaves. Customers beware!
Come for the homemade bread, stay because of the service and staff!I’ve walked by this place a lot since living in Astoria and decided to try it today. I have to say the humus was made very well and my lamb was seasoned perfectly! The bread was so soft and I’m glad it’s made in house. Will be coming again to show people the best Turkish food around.
Delicious! Big servings. My husband, daughter and I stopped to eat a late dinner before returning to Philadelphia. We had the Lamb and Chicken platters with rice and salad. Each and every thing was delicious. The service was also great. Will definitely eat here again and again.
EDIT: 2019 OF JULY. My indoor experience was way better. Food and service was excellent. Ill have to give the outdoors experience another try.My experience for outdoor was really bad. Food came extremely cold and had to tell them to reheat it. Was served a steak without a knife and had to wait another 10 minutes just to get a knife making my steak cold. There was no apologies or acknowledgment of the issue, really seemed like they didnt care. When we told them to pack some of our food, they brought out tin plates and told us to pack it ourselves without a fork. Overall not a good restaurant. Would not recommend. So many better places to eat imo.
I visit this superb restaurant from time to time because I like the special atmosphere that is outline this restaurant. The crew is extraordianrillyremarkably welcoming and experienced. The service is very fast. Needless to say, the food you eat is excellent. I frequent more than once and I was always satisfied. The price is honest. I suggest this place to my friends and family.
Great place for Turkish/Mediterranean food right off the Ditmars subway station!Went there with friends, they have an outdoor patio/seating section which can seat a good amount of people. Its a BYOB place which we didnt know about until we went there. We got the dips, the Turkish pizza and the beef shush kebab all of which were really good. And they kept serving us fresh bread which was very good. The best part is the staff, they were phenomenal. Very attentive, kept the wine chill and refilled our glasses. Didnt hurry us with the check and left us to enjoy the food.Def must check out if in the area, will be back again. Solid 4.5 stars.
I loved this place! I went there this summer with my family! Absolutely fell in love with my food. That was the first time I tried Turkish food and it was a great experience! Yes it was a expensive but worth it!My order:Mix Appetizers (hummus, ezme, tabuleh, babaganush, and spinach tarator) were amazing with the bread they serve!Mixed Grill (Combination of gyro, chicken shish kebab, lamb shish, and Adana kebab. Served with rice and mixed green salad) was a big dish good enough for up to 4-5 people! Filled with rich and different flavors.By the time we finished with the appetizers and main course we barely had room in our stomach for dessert, but still we couldnt leave before trying a Turkish dessert. We tried the Baklava, we loved the sweet, mouth melting dish.
Friendly, great food, attentive respectful staff and reasonable prices all wrapped up in a slick packaged modern designed restaurant, with a big touch of traditional Turkey! What more can you ask for? The place to take your family for dinner or your significant other when it is time to pop the important question. Also the perfect place to sit and laugh with friends while dining on great food. Dont wait make your reservation and experience Truva!
Don’t come here if you have any type of allergy. I asked them what has dairy and what doesn’t and half way through the dinner I almost threw up on the table. I spent a good 90 minutes in their bathroom hugging the toilet. I couldn’t even get up to get in the car to go to the hospital. When i finally made it back to the table another waiter came and told me that most of what I ate has dairy... the hummus, the babagaush almost everything except for the salad. No apology from the manager or anyone else although he obviously saw what was happening. He just gave the “nobody really has allergies” look that my people give. That old school mentality that nobody is actually allergic to anything. 😒The wait staff does not know what’s in the foods or what dairy is when I asked them if they did.If you are vegan or have allergies. DO NOT COME HERE.
The kabas are good. The decor is nice.Service on the other hand is a different story. We had to keep asking for the basics like spoon, sauce, oil etc. The condiments and the utensils are basics which have to be offered with the meal. However the worst part was hair in our food. This is a gamble with eating out. Hair in restaurant food is bound to happen. But how the restaurant handles it is what makes the difference. We did not even get an apology. Not going back nor recommending to anyone.
Highly recommend this Turkish restaurant. Every appetizer and entree our party of 3 ordered was just delicious. I would go there every week if I still lived in NY, but unfortunately we went there on a recommendation from our hotel staff & cant say enough good things about it.
Love the food at Truva! Place is clean and organized! The whole menu is super delicious and reasonably priced. What came as a surprise is the desserts! I had no idea that traditional Turkish desserts were so amazing. Also the Turkish pizzaa, straight out of the oven is marvelous.
The food is fantastic. The cuisine is very similar to that of Greek cuisine with lots of grilled chicken and lamb. They serve Effis beer. They also have some of the best pastries and desserts that I have ever tasted. The rice pudding is to die for. The prices will not break the bank. The staff is very courteous and attentive. I highly recommend.
I was very unhappy with this place. Looks nice and service was good. But truly the food wasnt good at all to me. Food had no taste what so even.. I wasnt so disappointed and after I saw the the bill. It was even worse. The bill was $175.09. I have never been so upset at any Damn restaurant, that I feel the need to make a comment. So not going back or recommend this restaurant to anyone...
Wow one of the best restaurants I have been in. The staff were super attentive and took great care of us. Our glasses were always full. The food was delicious. I was surprised how beautiful the food was prepared and lit the palate just right. The price is perfect. I would pay way more just for their service. Amazing place.
Was a good experience in this Turkish reataurantI loved The Food. The staff was good and friendly. Waiting time was not bad.I loved they had The balcony in the back for outdoor dining. I felt prices were little high but not too bad.Over all I would recommend this place and plan to visit soon again.
I go to Truva pretty often because its good for groups, doesnt get that busy, and has pretty great food. The service is generally pretty slow here Ive found, which is why I deducted one star. The waiters are very nonchalant about whether your food arrives in a timely manner. One time, a friend and I waited 1/2 hour just for appetizers. 4/5 for the food.
Food is great and the staff is very nice. I have tried the mixed grill and the Lamb gyro Kebabs are out of this world. Cigar borgie and babaganoush are very good man even the rice is outstanding. I recommend the rice pudding for dessert. Not really a fan of the weekend breakfast here. It is located right at the last stop of the N W line.
The food is good the gyro is good no problem the service no good i told him change the kunefe with a rice puding becouse its not supposed to be with walnuts nowhere in a turkish restaurant plus undercooked and soggy on the bottom , he didnt change it and he wasnt even my server he came at the end and the service charge was already on the billI end up paying for the dessert that i didnt like and the service i didnt likeDisappointed
Finally we got a Turkish restaurant in Astoria too and a pretty good one. Food, service and the atmosphere is great. I highly recommend this place. Place very close to train station, and clean, service prompt and friendly, food is great as expected. On top of everything they open until 1am. They serve breakfast too, not like many Turkish restaurants.
The food there is very tasty so the only reason I only gave it 2/5 stars is because the waiters there are constantly watching you and hovering over you to take plates, fill cups etc etc, so that makes it very uncomfortable feeling as if you are constantly being watched by about 15 waiters ( which I have no idea why the restaurant would need all those waiters). So please just leave your guests alone for a moment to enjoy their meal with their family.
I think place is really comfortable and relaxed. The food is healthy and taste good. The prices are reasonable and wont break the bank. The seats are comfortable as well. Definately a great place for lunch and from what I remember it gets a little crowded during the dinner.
I would say what an amazing experience, the food was delicious, Beef sheesh was amazing, anyone should try it, 150% guarantee you will not regret, the staff was really helpful and very cooperative with everything specially accommodating my two kids at the best. The seating arrangement for summer is really excellent. 5 stars for the service, for the taste. Worth spending $$$😜😜😜😜
It is only my second day in New York and I am told that New York has so many great places that I have to try. So I come here and all I can say is I had so many WOW moments!! The meat is so tender and juicy ! This place, the whole vibe you get here, is almost an exact replica of a turkish restaraunt in Turkey! I kid you not, this is a MUST try restaurant!!
Food is ok. Service is not good. Also they advertise stuff when it is not available. Lunch special was advertised on a board outside which made us go in and then the waiter gave us menus for lunch special and when we ordered, he told us that the lunch special is only on weekdays and that we have to pick from the regular menu or he would charge us up. Why advertise falsly and hand customers wrong menus only to charge up. Also, you have to ask for bread. If you dont ask, they wpuldnt even bother bringing all of your food.
I loved the food, the service, the ambiance, everything. So happy I went during the month of Ramadhan. They have dates ready to break fast they have a ramdhan menu too. Inside is a bit small so I recommend asking for a seat outside or reserving one during their busy hours. But other than that We had no complaints. We will definitely be going again and again
The worst service ever! WARNING DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE NOT TURKISH. They treated me and my family worse than Donald trump would treat a Mexican. The had a complete disregard for service or just basic humanity. The waitress tried to sit us by the door and when we requested a seat further back due to the wind making the front uncomfortably cold, she became visibly irate and sat us further back and handed a table of 3 people 1 menu. Did not even bother to look at us when she handed the menu and instead was sitting down a Turkish couple next to us. After I requested another menu she points to the one on the table and became irate again when I requested an additional one. When the food was served I requested ketchup for my 4 year old. The counter was literally 5 feet away from us, after waiting 5 mins and watching the waitress simply standing around and talking to the cashier and another Turkish customer I decided to walk up and request the ketchup myself. The cashier girl told me to go have a seat very rudely and told me they would bring it when she has time and looked away as if I didnt even exist. I told her that I would wait for it because my daughter is waiting to eat and we have been waiting a while. She refused to give it to me and grabbed it from behind where she was standing and had one of the girls come and slam it onto our table.I have never in my life experienced such rudeness as a restaurant in my life. Maybe it has something to do with trump wining the election and them all having blonde hair and blue eyes. Guess they feel like its acceptable to treat customers that dont look like them in the manner they treated me and my family. If my wife wasnt so nice I would be have paid the bill and or stayed for the food. The place looks really good online... but theyre attitude and service ruin at all. First step is they should tell their employees that people other than Turkish people will come there to eat and they need to service everyone not just the people they choose to.I would not visit this place if they paid me.I am utterly disgusted at the way we were treated. By the way THE FOOD WAS DISGUSTING AS WELL!.
Not happy with online order. For $11 I got a small cup of rice with thinnest small chicken kabob. Like you guys have any fear of Allah or not. All my Order was so little that it was not enough for my husband and I. That’s stealing Truvia not a business. At least don’t cheat people with online 10% discount. I will never eat from your place.
NO FLAVOR - NO SPICE - NOT FRESH If I could give this a Zero Star I would - I cant believe the number of good ratings this restaurant has received. People must have really lost there sense of Taste. We ordered take out Chicken Adana Platter which is suppose to come with home bread, rice and Salad (they did not include the salad) so we paid $10 for a small platter that had chicken kufta on a little bed of white rice TASTE LESS. We also order a Chicken Gyro TASTE LESS, SLOPPY and the lettuce was brown (old lettuce) $9. Red sauce and white sauce HORRIBLE. I have tried a number of Turkish, Greek and Middle Eastern Restaurants in NYC and I gotta say this restaurant is a disappointment to middle eastern cuisine. If they couldnt get these simple dishes on point I doubt the other dishes are any better.
Although the oven was closed. We were still able to choose from the grilled menu late at nite. The mixed grill was fantastic. There was an abundance of food and everything was cooked perfectly. Although I do wish there more appetizers with feta cheese what we had was delicious, & I would absolutely go back there again especially to try the meat and cheese pie.
Great food here. Theyve got a great oven here, so their breads are delicious, specially their pide (Turkish pizza) and bagels. And if you come here for brunch, definitely try their menemem, which is kind of like a Turkish scrambled eggs. They also have a great outdoor area in the back.
I had to wait 30 minutes more for my food because they completely forgot. The food was a bit bland (falafel dinner and lamb chops). Lighting is very bright inside and tables are small. The baklava tasted spoiled to me. The salad was dressed well and probably the only thing I enjoyed. Also, there were large Poland spring bottles on each table and cups (self service water) I thought nothing of it until they charged me $5 for water. I was never even given the option of tap water... I figured that since it was placed on the table it was on the house. I wouldnt come here again.
Truva is a great way to taste the Greek Astoria food milieu. Truva features classic Greek dishes and uses combinations of high-quality ingredients to add the right mixes of flavors to items on their menu. The staff working here are extremely friendly and accommodating to individual dining preferences and requests. Id recommend this spot to anyone seeking a truly Greek dining experience in the area.
Shameful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Drove over 45 min to get here and an additional 20 min looking for parking walking over 5 blocks. We walked in and had to look for someone to help. Finally, a lady comes up to us and the first words out of her mouth was “do you have a reservation”? We told her we did not and the next words out of her mouth was “we can’t help you then”. We looked around and saw literally 20+ open seats. She spoke to us as if we were beneath her and that this place is doing us a favor if they accepted us. Just so we’re on the same page... WE PAY YOUR SALARY!!! You continue treating people the way you did with us, you’ll find yourself in the unemployment line.We asked her to ask the manager if he can make an exception or even outdoor seating. Keep in mind we were not argumentative what so ever as were mainly seeking options for our long drive here. She went to the back and came back 30 seconds later stating the manager said that there was nothing they can do. We did not push for an argument and ended up leaving extremely insulted. I can’t say with certainty however, my daughter was wearing the hand of god around her neck and I noticed the lady continue to stare at it. If your not familiar with this specific necklace, it represents Judaism. Mind you we’re in a Turkish restaurant. Not insinuating this place is biased but based on the lady continuously looking at the necklace.... it just makes you wonder why we were treated the way we were.Very rude staff and no apologies. Will highly recommend seeking other restaurants.
If you haven’t eaten salad for days, come here. The amount of salad they serve with every entree is ridiculous. Even the appetizers are filled with salad. Like I love eating salad, but this place takes it too far. 70% of anything you order is filled with salad, rest would be meat or rice . Avoid this place, this is how they’re making their money, by overfilling their plates with salad !
The people who works there are just tips motivated, as if they dont get paid to serve customers.I visit this store every once in a while, but I just hate it. I ordered for pick up and the girl took my order and it was the wrong order, and when I got there is asked her for utensil and when she saw that I put nothing on the tip she told me go ask the guy on the grill. I hope that they stop being mean. And work for the check not tips.
Is more than a regular place, food quality is not far from a home style, almost everything is made here! Compared with others that I have been, this is in my list , for sure is almost impossible to not be satisfied! In my case, only the olive oil is what I don’t like (cause is not olive oil). Overall is good ! Worth to try , any one.
Excellent food ! 😍🇹🇷 Staff will go out of their way to make a customer happy e.g. such as warming up stuffed grape leaves and rice pudding which are eaten cold 😉 They are all very attentive, picking up any slack for each others tables and customers. Just wonderful ! Hepinize sonsuz teşekkürler--- Hatice 🇹🇷
I do not know what has changed in last six months but everything was actually perfectly delicious. I gave up on this business on August after horrible food experience. I decided to give them another chance. Every piece of item was spot on. I believe finally they changed the recipes because doner was perfectly seasoned and not drenched in oil , thinly shaved . Lahmacun was finally tasted like a great lahmacun the way it was two years ago super thin perfectly seasoned , no over powering cumin or any other spices. Adana was moist , great grilled, perfectly cooked. Wow what a change. I am so glad I gave them another chance. Bravo
We ordered the Iskandar Kebab and Mixed Pide. Best Turkish food Ive had in a long time. So delicious. Be wary of the drink called Slagam; it has a bizarre taste similar to pickle juice. The Mosaic Cake is incredible. Add a cup of Turkish tea is a great way to end a meal. Dont miss out on this place.
Day time servers are on point. the evening servers on the other hand are the worst. There is this one waitress that was beyond fabulous she had curly shoulder length hair and works outside she knows what she is doing and knows the menu by heart. And if you dont like something that is part of a certain dish she will totally give you choice instead of the girl I just had today.
The person in the front was so rude and mad when i returned my order cuz it was so messy. That’s so mean to tell customer that your order is “lunch special” that’s why it looks like that. I never heard this anywhere. I was so upset with his attitude that I decided never to order from Truva Cafe.
The service was really bad...... It took almost 45minutes to get my chicken kebab..... Staff were NOT attentive. It was not even busy. They did apologize, but I was so disgusted with the service, I didnt even stay any longer. Nice place and have enjoyed eating here before this visit, but this bad experience and poor management killed it for me.

2022-01-29As a customer for over 6 years, this was my last time here. Truva has become a terrible place for the value and especially customer service. Beef platter shown in the photo is $24 but portion size is so small! Their prices increased insanely after pandemic for no better reason than that they can. They charge for water & for every other little thing you ask for. I asked for 2 sides of salad and they gave me small portion size for the price. I asked for more salad and was given attitude about it from server. The worst part was when the check came, they placed a service charge for 4 people! I took a look at the menu & it was not written there. I’ve been in the restaurant business before & the minimum number of people needed to add a service charge is 6. That was a bad move from you guys, shame on you. When confronted with why she added that, she said it’s been that way for 2 years. I’ve been here just 2 weeks ago with NO service charge & have been a customer longer than their server employees have been working there. She proceeded to say that even if she removes the service charge it would be the same price with the tip. Tip is never mandatory & it’s up to US to decide how much you get depending on the service we have received. To management: if you have any backbone & care about customers who made your business in the first place, I strongly advise you to invest in intensive customer service training for your employees because they are lacking.

2022-06-27I got a shawarma wrap, definitely wasn’t a hit. It was very dry. I’ve expected some type of garlic sauce to be tossed on the chicken before rolled up. But the chicken was bland. The fries on the other hand was good and crispy.

2022-03-30One of the few places I trust in terms of food quality and service. I’ve been going there for years and I highly recommend the place.

2021-10-24Appetizers werent great and their dipping sauces not so good; but their kebab (chicken and beef) platters were delicious, and their warm fluffy pita bread hit the spot. The warm and friendly staff would make you want to go back for more. Plus, you must try their delicious rice pudding or other desserts.

2022-02-22This place used to be good and then went downhill completely once they became popular. Not sure if the management changed. If you’re in a group of 6 or more, the service is horrendous because there’s an automatically 18% gratuity placed on the bill. I’ve had better service here with a group of 2 people in comparison to 6+ people. They also rush you because seating is limited.I dislike how they serve you bottled water instead of tap when you ask for water. Seems like they try every trick to get more money for subpar food and service.I think the restaurant is only popular because there’s limited halal places that are nice enough to dine in the area. I used to bring out of town guests here but not anymore. I would much rather spend my money on a local business that’s more ethical with better service.

2022-06-04This place is the best when enjoyed at the restaurant. Not recommended for delivery! Its a hit or miss with delivery. I have ordered from Truva easily over 40 times. Sometimes they send you fresh food and then sometimes it tastes like its been sitting out. But when they get things right its a great experience ! Its my go to Turkish restaurant in Astoria. They really raised their prices as well. This place isnt affordable at all compared to other Turkish restaurants in Queens.

2021-08-15Great place for Turkish food. Their appetizers, salads, pide and lamacun are simply great! The man course options never disappoint. We got the mix grill for a large party and it was great food and you get to try all types of meat they offer. Best halal Turkish spot in Astoria.
