Tu Casa in other cities:
This was my first time ordering from here and it was a great experience. Very nice Peruvian cuisine and food. The food I ordered cane out fresh and fast today. Ordered the Salchipapas and the Chicken stew, came at a low price! Inside the restaurant is decorative, clean and very nice. I will be returning to this location again soon.
So upon arriving we were seated next to the door and obviously felt cold every time the door opened. There were other seats available so not sure why they werent a little more considerate to seat us more inside. The waiter disappeared for a while before coming back to take our order. It was after 10pm and not much people there. The Coconut Mojito was delicious. The food was good and flavorful. The tres leches cake was also very good. Overall good food, a little pricy for the neighborhood, and very slow service when not very busy (cant imagine what its like on a busy night).
This is our second visit to this restaurant. On the first visit we had the Chaufa rice with a whole chicken. The rice and chicken was good. On our second visit we started with empanadas appetizers one chicken and one beef. We both preferred the chicken. We both tried their beef entrees, Lomo salteado and tu casa bistec. Both beef entrees tasted gummy. The beef were hard to chew. I would stick with ordering chicken at this place. The Sangria was ok but not out of this world.
You would think this restaurant would want to keep their business going or at least receive decent reviews but thats not the case with these people. They are rude on the phone, put you on perpetual hold and on both occasions all they said was “no we don’t have that”. Prior to this review over a month ago I waited over an hour after my call to them and confirmation of my order only to receive the wrong order and a nasty reaction from the person that answered the phone. That person spoke to someone else and at no point did they ask to confirm my order and didn’t offer to replace it. The service came and picked up the wrong order about two hours later and no call, no apology and certainly NOT MY ORDER. After today’s continued unprofessional behavior I will never order out or eat in their restaurant. I’m certain to spread the word and also review them exactly the same way on the other apps. Horrible service!!!
I have ordered for take out and stayed in. I’m taking 3 stars off due to the quality of the food, price and waiters. I’ve eaten Peruvian food at many restaurants in queens and I would not recommend this place. I gave it several tries but it’s simply not good Peruvian food. Its pricey for the quality of food you get. Some waiters are also not attentive. I’ve had to constantly call them over. Only 1 waiter was good, so it’s up to you’re luck.
Placed a pick up order. First off they lie with options on their online menu. I order pinto beans and got watery black beans. Also ordered a half chicken with rice super dry, only flavor in skin very bland. The fry rice had not much chicken and the color was off like they use old oil smell of burnt. And there cake is store bought and not dulce leche. Disappointed. I use to come here years ago much better back in the day. Don’t know what happen to this place. And they didn’t want to compensate for the lack of my food.
Came in on Monday for a holiday dinner with a company I work for and I was blown away by the menu and the restaurant welcoming staff. I order the steak which was amazing, the appetizers were amazing. The hot brownie was amazing also. I have a photo of the brownie only . The waiters are very welcoming and friendly they understand every customer and the menu options available to the customer. We had a blast and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to celebrate or looking to dine out.
I’ve never been to a restaurant where they lie about the food they are serving you. I ordered a lomo saltado with entraña , which is $7-$9 more than the regular one that’s just with skirt steak. To start off the rice was dry , with only 4 cuts of French fries. To the main attraction which is the actual meat, they paired it with peppers, white onions and to my surprise they placed 3 pieces of entraña on top and all the meat on the bottom was skirt steak. If you’ve ever had a lomo saltado it always comes with tomatoes, shallots and choice of meat, which for me was the entraña. It was extremely disappointing and the waiter looked at me in the face and said no this entraña, so I asked for the manager where she took a look and saw I was right. Did offer another plate, but what’s the point now. You wasted my time and were trying to play me. I would never go back. Don’t try to play your costumers.
I had high expectations for this place since I read the reviews. I dont even know where to start but everything about this place was bad. Starting from the customer service all the way to the food. I wanted to try the ceviche but the waiter didnt know what type of fish they used to make it. I told him if he could ask the chef to see and then he never came back until another waiter came and told me it was Corvina and is the same thing as flounder which is not. I order decided to go for the chicken instead. The waiter never put our order in and then came back twice to ask what did we order to put it in. We were really hungry but we decided to wait for the food. The last straw was the once we got our food. The chicken was not fresh at all and we just opted out to not even eat because if we waited for a waiter to come it would take another 20 minutes and then another 20 minutes to get our food. We even had to walk to the cashier to pay because we never saw the waiter after he gave us our food. Overall next time they need to have more waiters and fresh cooked chicken because you can tell when the chicken is not fresh. You can see when the bone of the chicken is really brown and the chicken is very dry and falls apart.
I am Peruvian and this restaurant has been here for so many years I had to try it. The food was good. Im big on Lomo Saltado, I had to try it but it just tasted like most places. The meat needs to be cooked and given that burnt meaty taste kind of like flamed but not all places can make this perfect. Other than that it was a good, clean, quiet setting.
Front desk assumed we walked through the back door after not being served even a glass of water or shown the menu for 10 minutes. I brought it up to her attention that we were waiting and she made us explain how we got in the restaurant. Food was a 1/5.Gentleman that I believe was the supervisor came over to check if everything was ok, and he acknowledged the missstep. Too little too late.
I absolutetly love love the food , very home made delicious!! My favorite is lomo saltado, ceviche, entraña omg yuca frita , the ck soups for when feeling under the weather (it will bring you back to life) and lets talk about the great staff always friendly specially Claudia the funniest most friendliest love love her always have a great experience , she makes you feel like your home :)Thank you
Been here a bunch of times and although my previous experiences involved incredibly long wait times, food WAS really good. For that reason, we kept going back despite its relatively higher prices. This time; however, the food was so tasteless and bland. We ordered our usual, salmon a lo macho, and this time, they really skimped on the seafood and for some reason, the seafood taste was gone. Calamari tasted like rubber, shrimp had no taste (not even a shrimp taste!) we had to douse the food with the green sauce to have some semblance of flavor. The flan was better, though the bottom was burnt. This particular experience may have been due to us placing the order online as opposed to ordering over the phone or in person, prices are however more expensive when you order online. So, do NOT order through an app
I am giving the stars for the server. the server was friendly but the manager/host/black hair lady inside the bar was very unwelcoming. she didnt smile a bit and completely ignored me and my friends. we literally sat ourselves and found a menu ourselves and spoke to the server that we are sitting outside. I talked highly of Tu Casa to my friend and brought them here but that was embarrassing.
First off I like to support Latin businesses, but my people better step it up.First off me and my husband came in, nobody was even acknowledging us, when finally the waiter came no hello no welcome just vaccine proof pleaseThe food?My churrasco under cooked and my husbands red snnaper to hard and over cooked, the tostones(fried green plantain)Hard and not fresh at all....waiter never came to check up on us so I try to tell a waitress that pass by the table like to tell him to come over?....she dismissed me with her ✋, and continue walking....I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN
I have been coming to tu casa for about 4 years , I love the passion fruit margarita and the fried snapper with rice and beans with cilantro sauce.I gave a 3 star because depending on the waiter or waitress , the service is either good or bad. Also sometimes the food is half cook , with small portions, and sometimes the waiterwaitress will forget half of your order . Please be specific and tell them you want all your food at once along with drinks .When ordering please tell them to make your order well done , the chef also have good and bad days . If you want a peaceful dinner , don’t go on Thursday’s because they have real loud music with karaoke . If it’s your birthday , they have a great presentation with singing , cake , drums and a picture frame .As for parking it can be difficult at times, you have to circle the blocks like 3-4 times .
Great place to sit down and have a delicious meal accompanied with either white or red sangria. The white is my favorite, refreshing, light and will leave you wanting more so order the pitcher, youll be happy you did. I am not normally a salad for a meal kind of guy but order the Tu Casa salad with grilled chicken and you will enjoy a filling, delicious healthy meal. They are generous with the avacado and their house dressing is remarkable. If you are in the mood for just a small bite try their empenadas really great as an appetizer or something to grab on the run.
First time I came here I liked this place so much so I asked my husband to go again meanwhile keep in mind we live up state ny we come 1 hr wait fine okay we are seat i lie not they took 30 min just for water and drinks and another 25 min for food. I didnt mention we were seat with people who had no wait time and they were served everything before our water !!! Im furious like what! Oh and our main course came in segments and they didnt have beans .. Never again..
I ordered via delivery tonight ((its a Monday night)) and after 2hrs I still didnt receive my food! Ive eaten in and had a somewhat better experience but not by much. Theres a middle aged female that works theres and shes not very pleasant. For a place that looks great & food thats tasty; the staff and take out system are horrible.
If I could have I would have given them zero stars. I went there last week with my mom. first customer service isnt good at all. Second When we ordered my food came with 2 eyelashes and some hair. my mom had to go inside the restaurant to get someone because we were waiting for over 15 mins. they did change my order but they didnt give apologies.third I am peruvian and I have eaten way better Peruvian food. people dont go there they dont even have high quality food because it had my stomach and my moms bad that whole day
This review is not about the food. It’s about the terrible service! In particularly about the pregnant waitress. She is condescending, rude and obnoxious. You would think that during a pandemic she would want to try and be a little nicer in order to keep her job, but she does not seem to care. She is so dismissive, and having ordered from here constantly I always have an unpleasant interaction with her.
After I read all the good reviews from this restaurant I decided to order but I guess I didn’t have the quality of the food. I waited for 1hr 20 min to get my food and It wasn’t what I expected. I wasted $50 for a soggy calamari the red sauce was horrible and the steak from the lomo was hard. I called the restaurant but the lady gave me a bad costumer service. First and last time ordering from them.
I came here with my kids on a Sunday afternoon when the place is relatively empty. After being seated, we waited about 6-7 minutes for someone to come and take our order. Drinks came about 5 minutes later and we waited for our appetizer another 12-14 minutes. Our food came about 20-25 minutes after that. I had ordered the rotisserie chicken which was dry and didnt taste fresh. The rice and beans were flavorless and my childrens food wasnt that good either. Our waiter never came to ask if we were ok, or if we needed something in fact, had to ask another waiter for water (we never got a refill), green sauce and the check. After about 10 minutes of asking for the check, our waiter came with the dessert menu! No thanks, just need the check so we can leave. Very dissatisfied with the service and food.
We got together here for my lil cousins birthday, food was good definitely nothing about it disappointing, the passion fruit margaritas were shlaming we killed two pitchers between 3 of us, I have no photos of this night I lost my phone along with all of them, they got 4 stars because I only went here once and nothing gets 5 until I eat there atleast 3 or 4 times. This way I can really have a feel for how it is on different shifts.
Great affordable Latin cuisine. There is plenty of street parking. The sangria had some strange fruit in it but was tasty. They keep it traditional with red and white sangria. The food was flavored with traditional spices and no too salty or bland. The meat was tender and fresh. There are a lot of vegetarian options. I went on a corporate luncheon and they accommodated a large party comfortably. They even processed our tax exempt form with no issues.
Food is great. Green sauce is awesome but service could be much better. Our waitress didn’t tell us their credit card processor was down. When it was time to pay she kept insisting that she did! We had to go find an ATM and go back to pay. Also, ordered a side order of avocados-never received it. After she brought the check I mentioned it and she said they didn’t have any. I told her I saw the table next to us receive their order and she said that’s an avocado salad. She could’ve told me in order to get it I had to order the salad and I would have! Very annoying.
Wish I can give this place a 4.5 instead of a 4. The food is exceptional and the green sauce is to die for. The service for both take out and dine in is good as well. However, the food is a bit pricey and the sound system on weekends is particularly loud so its a bit difficult to have a conversation with someone. I recommend going on birthdays or special events.
This is my go to spot for lunch. You can’t go wrong with their chicken, it always perfectly cooked. Their chicken soup is my favorite with extra green sauce. When I go with my family we order family style and get the meal which comes with rice and beans, maduros, a whole chicken and salad. Their sangria is great as well. I also love that they have outdoor seating.
Not a fan. The service is horrible and frankly I felt ignored. When we arrive the person who it appeared to be the owner was too busy talking to be bothered to greet most people coming in. After almost 10 minutes of not even being acknowledged a waiter comes and says follow. We went into the other room where it was packed but VERY loud as there was a 2 man band performing. We could barely hear each other. After another ridiculously long wait they finally came to ask about drinks and apps. We ordered the White Sangria and Ceviche Mixto...both of which I have had much better elsewhere. Then it took forever again and the waiter has the nerve to say the kitchen is slow but assumed we did not want entrees. I said yes we are ordering more and ordered the Red Snapper and my husband the fried rice. The plates were decent sized but again o have the exact same meal much better elsewhere.I will never return because I really felt unwanted and ignored. My money will be better spent elsewhere.
This restaurant looked nice and I was so excited to try it. However my party of four was seated in their dining room and was ignored for about 30 minutes. The restaurant was almost empty, no one even greeted us to put in our drink order. Waiters came in and out of the area and even told me that someone would be with our table shortly yet they continued to ignore us. We ended up leaving because we were too hungry to stay. You should try their location down the block! Its smaller but the waiters are much friendlier and efficient.
Tu Casas is our go to Spanish spot, their food is for the most part always good but sometimes it doesnt feel fresh and the meat dishes sometimes have a weird smell to it. I usually like to get the Lombo Saltado but sometimes it doesnt taste as good or fresh. Their delivery can also be really slow too but overall food and service are good. I think the green sauce is what makes everything taste better.
Service was lacking. They can really use a young american server in their mix. No above and beyond feeling. Food is very good but drink are super overpriced. I dont think $8 for 1 beer is reasonable. Ive heard many people complain about this place. I actually only or take out now.
Do not be intimidated by the line. It moves incredibly fast and is worth the wait. This is one of my favorite places to go for a meal. Both the breakfast and lunch options are out of this world. You get a ton of food for an incredibly affordable price. I try to stop in here often and I do because the food is excellent. The staff is also incredibly friendly.I sometimes place big orders for work. They have never disappointed and its a great option if you have an office near by and need to feed a large group.
Probably my favorite place to order in from. Get the chicken at least once a week and a big ole green sauce that i put on everything thru the week. I love the food delivery or sitting. Staff is nice and friendly. One delivery driver is amazing! The other has to read the descriptions better and call phone not ring bell!
Food is excellent, however their service is extremely slow. 45 minutes waiting for 2 simple orders. Atmosphere is obnoxious for my taste. They have a live saxophone player who sounds excellent, but the place is to small t have such a loud system. Impossible to talk or hear over it. I could do without it. I wont be returning
Tu Casa is an exceptional place to eat! Definitely has amazing Peruvian food . The green sauce is amazing! They have live music on the weekends which reminds me of being in South America. Waitresses and waiters are very nice. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Its really a great place to hang out on a nice day with some good drinks and food. Try the red sangria, its amazing. This place is a hidden gem, trust me you wont be disappointed!
Its a pretty quiet place during the week. When I visited we were only one of 3 tables being served on a Thursday afternoon. The area is very busy so parking is hard to come by. Once you are inside the wait staff is OK at best. They do their normal duties but dont expect over the top service. It food itself is pretty normal for a type of resturaunt like this. The meats were a bit dry, the sauces that come with it try to hide this, but the quality does need improvement. It is a nice place for a quick pick up and take out meal. If you are dining in it does get quite a bit expensive for just a few dishes. Its a good resturaunt, but there are better, especially around the same area.
Horrible experience. Waited 30 minutes to sit when it was my turn they had the nerve to give the table to two other people that weren’t there but their friends had a seat. When I told the waiter that its not fair for him to be holding tables for nobody especially during this hard times, he had the nerve to tell me, I needed to wait if I wanted or I could leave. Really sad at their poor customer service.
Before I go onto this review, I need to disclose I have been a server/bartender for 6 years and I pride myself on decent service that makes me deserve at least a 15% tip. So please keep that in mind to anyone who thinks I’m unfair or “being mean” when I’m truly being as fair as I possibly can with this review.First of all, the food is amazing. There is no question that this restaurant has amazing chefs and cooks that know what they are doing. That salsa verde is made with crack and I will be coming back for it.That being said, the server I had was not a good representation of the restaurant. I do not know if she was having an off day or simply was poor performer with her job; however she was very inattentive and frankly, bad.I went there today with a friend of mine around 2PM. We decided to sit outside and made sure to ask the staff if we could do so. After we were seated outside and given menus, we weren’t greeted by any waiters for at least 20 min and weren’t even asked if we wanted anything to drink.Coincidentally, as my friend stood up to ask the staff for a waiter, our waiter finally came out and asked us if we were ready to order. Meanwhile we didn’t even have drinks (not even water) or a drink menu given to us for the 20 min we were waiting. We had to ask her for a drink menu (since all the other servers that were handling their tables around us- didn’t even take care of us either or ask if anyone was). She told us the drinks available and we were finally able to give our drink preferences and provide our appetizer and entree orders.Once we finished our food, we were waiting for our server to come and ask us if we wanted dessert or our check. She never came back out to check our food or ask if we wanted more drinks. We had to ask another server/ or busboy for water.Once we grew tired of waiting for our check, I had to walk inside to the bar and ask for it. My server insisted that a man had brought us our check, but that wasn’t the case. Thankfully she apologized, but another server basically handled the bill for her and took care of me.I’m sorry but as a server, this service was truly bad. But the food was so good that I do want to come back and try again. Hopefully it was a bad day for the server over her simply being bad at her job.As for our food, again, it was amazing. I have nothing but praises.
This review is solely based on the food and take-out service. We live close by and prefer to just order take-out from Tu Casa. The is delicious and no complaints there. If you like a little spice, ask for the green sauce. Tu Casa is well known for the green sauce, makes the meal that much better. If youre looking for a meal to try, get the Peruvian fried rice specials. chicken, shrimp of beef.Reason for three stars instead of four or five? The service is slow, even for pickup at times. Well call in advance and theyll say 15-20 minutes. Well get there in 15-20 and youll still wait another 15-20 on top of that. Weve even had to wait almost 30 minutes because the food wasnt ready.
I took my husband with another couple this past weekend for Fathers Day. I chose this restaurant because that is where my childhood friends and I have been celebrating our birthday gatherings, etc. for over 10 years, if not more. I was very excited to take them there, but unfortunately It was a very unpleasant experience. I am not sure, but I think the restaurant is under new ownership? To start, we ordered empanadas. The empanadas got to our table more than a half hour later and they were cold. Finally, our food order was taken after I dont know how long and the waitress didnt even remember if she had taken our orders. In my opinion, she had too many tables and was not attentive the way she should of been. My husband and friends ordered steak. Two were churrascos and the other was a skirt steak. All three steaks were terrible. The skirt steak was overcooked and the churrascos were very, very fatty and very chewy. I was very disappointed for them. And on top of it all, we were just a table of 4 and a tip of 20% was added when that is normally done for a table of 6.Again, very disappointing service overall and I doubt if I will ever return.
Sad to say the service here was horrible. 630 on a Saturday the restaurant was not even busy I walked in to sit down to have dinner with my wife and parents . Total of 4 servers by the bar which is a clear view to the door where we entered. Two of them sitting and other two standing doing nothing. After about ten minutes I wave to one server who saw me made eye contact with me and walks away and totally ignored me ( blonde and black hair with glasses) . My wife then gets up and speaks to another server and asked if we can please be taken care of and he says we will be right there. he then goes and has a conversation with the two server ladies sitting down . At this point I decided to take my food order to go bc the food is amazing. I order all the time take out. All of a sudden now the two that were sitting get up and one of them try to convince me to stay . I would recommend the food for take out bc the food is amazing but this service was beyond horrible. I dont even write reviews but this had to be shared. If you want sit in I would recommend Astoria tu casa bc service here sucks !
I never like to give bad reviews but I feel like I have to as a lover of Peruvian food I needed to leave this review. The food was bad and definitely not authentic Peruvian food. I had mixed chaufa. My rice was hard and some of it was inedible. My boyfriend had the lomo saltado and the beef eat was very very hard and had no flavor. Our waitress never checked on us and was so rude when I asked a question about the chaufa. She rolled her eyes. I always try to be as polite as I can so I was very confused as to why she was so upset. There was this one waiter who was nice and he asked us if we were missing anything (we were) but she didnt come back at all. Only when we asked for the check. If you want good food, just dont come here.
Great place for a family night, dinner and other occasions, the food was absolutelyWonderful, from preparation to presentation, and very fresh ,tasty and properly prepared. The staff is very friendly and have great customer service, wonderful staff. I will always recommend this place. Thanks againGuys, for your delicious food and excellent customer service. A very clean environment.Great Value for the Price. Great, Great. Thanks again.
We love the food here but wont be returning. The service is always so slow. Instead of bringing us our food, she stands around talking. We asked for a side of avocado and was told they dont have any at the moment - only to find the table next to us (that came after) was able to get. When we asked how come, she said they asked for an avocado salad. I replied well you shouldve told us thats what we need to order and we would have instead of dismissing the request. At the end, we attempted to pay by card ; she said she told us when we came in theyre only accepting cash. She never told us! We had to go down the street to a deli ATM to get cash (and pay fees)!
Came here on Mother’s Day. I had the skirt steak, which was very overdone and chewy (I asked for medium, it was well done). My mom had the whole fried snapper, which was ok. Overall the food could have been seasoned better, and the staff could have been more attentive. Probably won’t return...
Really good food! Came with another flight attendant which knows about it and it did not disappoint. They allowed the 4 of us to haul our bags in and put them against the wall (out of traffic) while we ate. 2 if us had the ceviche which was really good but I would say just know it is mostly squid and not as fish-heavy as I was expecting. Id say the chicken dishes stole the evening. Im getting that next time. Could even share a dinner if you get it with the beans and rice. Im still kicking myself for not buying some of that green sauce to bring home!
Service isnt always great. The restaurant is nice. Pefect calamari and the salmon ensalada is my go-to order! Also try the garlic shrimp with rice- delicious. Huge serving sizes so you can definitely pack half your meal up for later. The outdoor seating area is nice- not too much foot traffic and great breezes under the umbrellas.
Food is good, but when I go somewhere I expect to get...service? Or else I would just order delivery OR cook at home. Waiter forgot several of the things we ordered including our sangria (which is REALLY good so if I ever do come back it would only be for that). When we reminded him for these items we STILL didn’t get them, at this point we were basically done eating anyway. Honestly it wasn’t even that busy at the time either, I haven’t been back since and I live down the street. If you’re okay with waiting around and constantly reminding your waiter for things, sure try it out. If not, go elsewhere
Early September 2020 my wife and I went to two casa to have a nice meal. Nice and flavorful meals are always available to casa. Due to the restrictions of covid-19 they are only serving outdoors. There are outdoor tables so as long as the weather is okay you can sit outside relax and have a nice meal. They were hopping, the place was busy. Or waiter whos very pleasant but overworked might have forgotten about us. We had ordered a picture of sangria and were waiting and waiting and waiting for our meal order which we had placed and it seemed that people all around us were getting served even though they come in later than us. We went through the picture of sangria and then worried about our order. I think they kind of forgot about us but be that as of May the manager there gave us another picture of sangria which just hit the spot. Very friendly wonderful place to dine wonderful food. I hope that they get through and survive this whole covid 19 pandemic. As it is the restaurant businesses really taking a big hit and any that survive will be stronger and better. So if you get a chance go sit enjoy and have a wonderful deal and drinks at two casa.My wife and I walked down Lefferts Boulevard to Metropolitan Avenue and then to CVS Pharmacy/Store on 126th Street. It was a nice day for a walk. On the way back, we stopped at Tu Casa and were only going to have Coffee and Tea (yeah right) but on an off chance we looked at the menus and especially the desert menu. We sat outside and had some very nice desserts. Im not sure what she had, but I had a Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream and Syrup. It was a little chilly so I switched seats my wife could sit in the sun. Very nice and very civilized sitting outside.
Was there for diner and was hard to get service. The restaurant was empty and all employees were on their cell phones laughing and having a good time. The only way to get basic service was by standing to get someones attention. Food was good - service was not the case. Was disappointing - I love Peruvian food.
I haven’t been to this place in so long I was very glad to see the experience at tu Casa, how has it been since couple years. There Is this short Hispanic waiter that been there for years i was glad there was still someone working there since the last time I was there. Once I was ordering the menu I asked him how was the portions size he was seem to be annoyed so I skipped the question and ask him what kind of wines he got upset and didn’t say nothing and just took the menu tablet and show me like i was deaf. He look so annoyed with us It made me feel to be afraid to order or ask question me and my boyfriend n my cousin seem upset and I raved about this place and now I embarrassed and I left and I cancel the whole order and left this was far the worst service and is sad cuz this place but have amazing food but service is everything so I’m never coming here again even thou I i know Willy he’s the best.
This place was great at a moment..customer service is terrible..i get seated before others and new comers get served the whole meal meanwhile im still waiting to get asked what would we like.2nd i came before another family and they get served and seated before us... Unacceptable..I wont ever come back
The food is good, however if you call for take out 9 out of 10 times it will be a problem. Service is horrible when it comes to take out. Make sure you check your food. They tend to forget things. If you like the sauces (green or white) be prepared to spend extra cash for an extra sauce. Absolutely ridiculous that Tu Casa charges for sauces. Your best bet is to dine in.
This restaurant is awesome and a good value for the money. The 1/2 chicken dinner and their chicken soup are amazing. If you like Peruvian style food you will like Tu Casa. The chicken is full of flavor, very juicy, and falls off the bone. The chicken soup is home made with lots of flavor and lots of chicken.
I went there earlier today with a friend. The waitress told us to sit anywhere and we sat next to the other patrons to make things easier. We waited about 3 minutes for the menu and then she circled right back around for our order, forgot what we said, and brought us our drinks 7 minutes later. There were no other tables by this time so perhaps our order slipped her mind again. We wanted to order appetizers but everything about her table service was so rushy that she was talking to us halfway across the room so we decided not to spend the extra money. We both ordered the Pernil that was supposed to be roasting for 6 hours according to the menu. She got hers with MORO, mixed rice and beans, but the rice and beans came on separate plates. I ordered mine with burned plantains apparently. The Pernil didnt come with the skin we had asked for three time and its was colder than room temperature. The green and white sauce to accompany it was bland and not very tasty. The Pernil had no seasoning on it whatsoever so I used the tablesalt to bring it alive. That didnt help. We ordered a side of steamed yuca with onions hoping to make our tummy smile. Failed!! It was baked, hard, and the onions were burnt sautee style; and that new cooking technique was sent right back where it came from. The upside was the overpriced sangria that we had. We later saw her, for the 3rd time ever, after our meal was finished and our bill for 2 drinks 2 entrees and my extra side that was never taken off the bill was $52. I will NEVER return and I will NEVER recommend this establishment to my worst enemy. Save your money and find something better. I wish I could write this terrible place off on my taxes!!
I visited Tu Casa last Friday (04/27) and was very displeased with the service. It was busy but now super busy to the point where we should have to wait over 45 minutes for appetizers. The calamari was like rubber and the breading was falling off as I picked it up. We then had to wait another 45 minutes for our main courses. I ordered the Chicharron de Pollo Appetizer and when it was brought out it had 4 small pieces of chicken and plenty of tostones. No other restaurant I have been to has been so stingy with meat. The live singer was singing over the background music which made it incredibly hard to have a conversation with my dinner companion. Our bill was over $90 and we both feel like we did not get our moneys worth. Tu Casa has lost its appeal and lacks in customer service. I dont think I will be going back, until they can re-evaluate their business and how they treat customers.
If youre okay with a loud atmosphere and a lot going on at once, then you will fit right in! If not, then this place isnt for you. The food is okay and prices are a little on the higher end. Not to mention, the service isnt the greatest! Its definitely a popular spot, so its worth a try.
The service was horrible, we were 7 people they took too long to bring the drinks to the table. and also always forget to bring someone drink and food, steak and shrimp got cold waiting for the tostones and by the end I never got my food, the waitress apologized but charged us $240.00 for doing nothing. Don’t go there not worthy.
Food has always been great but its also been a while since Ive been here. Came here for my sisters bday (party of abt 6 with kids) and I had to call for service a few times amongst other things. Gave them 2 stars because the food was still good, warm but good. Sadly wont be coming back again. Disappointed for sure!!!
This used to be a favorite of mine. My past few experiences have been poor. I just refused to give them anymore of my money. The staff is rude. You get the attitude that you should be grateful to be there. I had a disagreement with a new manager at metro and lefferts. I ordered a pitcher of sangria and it was awful. I told him Ive ordered sangria countless times there and this batch did not taste good. He says well the same person always makes it and he doesnt want to argue with me. I was with a friend and completely embarrassed. She and I both thought he was rude, just poor customer service. I decided to try the one in rego park for Valentines Day.. I ordered the salmon salad. Ive ordered this many times. I tell the waiter everytime I ordered this in the past, it comes with red onions cilantro and tomatoes. He goes back and fourth with me saying no it does not. It was crazy. That was the last straw. The arrogance at this establishment is just insulting to people who are spending their money. Ive given up on all tu casa restaurants. There is an awesome great tasting restaurant on queens Blvd. Bet 66th ave and 67th ...they have the best seafood fried rice and the sangria is on point everytime. Their green sauce is delicious and of course the chicken has great flavor. The staff is friendly and happy to see you.
Ive visited and have ordered from this place and the more I go the more disappointed I am. The food is good but I once waited 2.5 hours for a delivery and when I called after waiting an hour and a half I was told my food was out for delivery but I waited another hour. Also, if you order the combo meal do not expect to feed a small family (example two adukts and two children) you will not have enough food. It seems they serve less and less with each delivery.
Suggested it to mu husband. We ordered fried calamari that was the worst ever. It was oily and the oil they use for frying is amlost black and smells and tatses so bad meaning that they never change the frying oil. We spent more than half hour for anybody to come and ask for our order and we spent one more half hour to get the first dish. So bad expierence. Dont recommend it and will never go there again.
My First time ordering Tu Casa, my Jalea food was burnt and it was very expensive $26, not worth it at all.. My order was totally wrong and I’m trying to call the Restaurant to claimant the freaking phone is busy..SMH 🤦♀️.., Never again will I placed in order with Tu Casa.. The Receptionist was very nice her name is Nicole.. Sorry Tu Casa, my food wasn’t good at all...Not very happy at all!
The food is typical Spanish. The chicken is excellent. The pernil melts in your mouth. If you have not tried the restaurant, but are curious, there is a large lunch special menu. The prices are around the $6 range and include rice and beans or similar along with your choice of meats. The service is excellent. You could in the front outside and watch the people and cars go by on Metropolitan Avenue. The drinks are icy cold.
The food is very good but some of the service not so good. Called to place an order was placed on hold for more than two minutes. Placed an order for pick up for the lunch special that was worth a lil bit over $7. I go pick it up, the lady at the counter asks me if I have cash. I double check and tell her all I have is cards. She tells me there is a card minmum of $10 to make a purchase and asks if I want something to drink. As I am in a hurry and had no time for nonsense I went ahead and grabbed a bottle of soda. The total comes out to a little bit more of $9 and takes my payment. Now ,where is the logic in that if the “minimum was $10”. To make matters worst, I ask her if she has a bottle opener to open my bottle of soda... She straigt up tells me “ You can open it with your hand”. Like really? The food is great but this kind of service is very discouraging.
Delicious Sangria that is a must. Half chicken with rice and beans is the house specialty along with bistec encebollado. They have delicious beef or chicken empanadas, but makes this place besides the sangria is the house salsa. A green slightly spicy sauce made with garlic goodness. They have a couple of locations I have been to both one on Metropolitan another on Steinway, another on Queens Blvd. Make your way you will not regret it. One star deducted for service. I am a camel and drink water like I am in desert. Would have liked to have been topped off more. Other than that everybody loved their food
Tu Casa is a place for warm servers that remember you, lots of smiles and laughter, and good times. Its well-made food with great prices in any economy. Its even more perfect on warm Spring or mild Summer nights, when you can sit outside and have a nice glass of wine or sangria with your dinner and just unwind.
The food taste great but the price of the food and the amount they serve is unjustified. Im OK with paying any amount if the food taste good but they serve very little for what is worth. I have been to a few Peruvian restaurants and they are usually pricy but they always serve a lot of food. This place doesnt so be prepared to stay hungry after a meal.
Amazing place. The appetizers are great and I strongly recommend the ceviche. I had been in Peru and Chile and I cant remember eating one so good as I ate at Tu Casa. The entrees follow the same standard, delicious and perfectly cooked. I ordered a rare churrasco and it was fantastic. Other people in my party ordered the Entrana and the Pollo Saltado, everything was delicious and perfect.
I ordered food through uber eats . There was a chicken soup am a seafood linguine . The food was stale Nd seafood was stinking . My husband started throwing up the minute he ate the food. I called the forest hills branch and asked to speak to the manager the girl kept saying he is not there. And no-one wanted to take responsibility they kept saying call uber eats . Hello uber eats o my delivered the food was prepared by you guys .I would advise that no one should order food from a place who are not willing to own customers and their filthy and are food .And where the manager is gone at 930 pm.I havent received. A call and wasted 34 usd for 2 items we didnt even eat .
This used to be a go to spot but the service has declined so much, I dont even bother. I walked in, the waitress waved us over to a seat without even clarifying which seat. Sat for 20 minutes without anyone coming over with water, to take a drink order or even say hello. A man and his daughter left after 30 minutes of the same thing. We walked in and noone even stopped us to ask why.Get it together tu casa
Water for table took longer than needed. Maduros came toward the end of meal. They incorrectly charged our credit cards and we had to void and recharge the entire bill. The waiters looked like they were not happy to ve at work. The birthday surprise and flan cake wasthe best part of the whole night.
Tu casa has the best Peruvian food Ive ever had and more! Their dishes are huge!! It is best to share them with at least another person. I reccommend the Jalea, it is a deep fried seafood platter that contains calamari, fish, octopus, shrimp and more. They serve it with yuca, green hot sauce, and topped with a red onion and corn salad. Their sangrias are also delicious as well as their margaritas. You can never go wrong with what you ask from the menu so be adventurous and try new things.
We checked out this spot during the fall when the weather was still nice and decided to sit outside. I ordered the ceviche mixto, which is lime marinated seafood with onions and cilantro. Delicious! We were able to people watch, drink some sangria, and enjoy a beautiful day!
My family and I used to go to tu casa for special occasions and when we had visitors from out of town. My mother, a 62 year old woman was visiting a friend in the neighborhood and went into Tu Casa to use the bathroom. The manager thought it would be appropriate to reprimand my mother for using the bathroom and threaten to call the police on her next time in front of patrons dining outside.Needless to say we will never go back to that restaurant and instead of recommendations that manager has earned this restaurant bad reviews.
Overall, they offer exelent food in a nice location. However, The reason why Im giving 3/5 it is due to their slow deliveries ( always 1 hour no matter how close you are from the restaurant). Finally, some of their prices are over the regular price ( arros, habichuela y carne)
Food was very plain and service was completely awful. I waited 45 mins for the check I asked in interval of 10mins. Before other 5 mins can complete I had to walk up to the counter to request the check. People that came after us got their checks before us. Sadly the waiter that served us didnt even have the decency to go with the formality of apologizing for the wait. Overall I wouldnt visit this restaurant again.
The food at tu casa is fresh and made to order. They have the best spicy chicken wings in the area. Their empanadas are also made fresh and tasty. The green sauce that they serve with everything is delicious and spicy. The shrimp saltado is my favorite as the flavors keep you wanting more.
I wish restaurants would serve a true salad with real nutrient strong greens NOT just iceburg lettuce which would justify the exagerrated price of the salad rip off but other than my pet peeve the food is good the soup amazing . . Take my review with a grain of salt and follow your stomach I recomend a dining experience here at TuCasa ( even if at my house I serve a real nutrient rich sald) ;p
There are very few good food options in this neighborhood so Ive had to make due with the shoddy service, underwhelming food and over priced bills for Tu Casa. Probably the worst sangria you will ever have and if the waiter remembers youre there you should consider yourself lucky.

2022-05-22Food is always great. Cooked perfect and fair quantity for the price. The staff seems to be stretched thin so it’s rare you see your server for the duration of your visit.

2022-04-08Not bad but not WOW. Staff on the front end lacks attention. Once seated and you get a waiter, then the service picks up, else it would have been 2 stars.

2022-04-27Havent been here since the pandemic and I have missed this place. Every time I go to Kew Gardens we like to eat here and I always get the same things. In the past I have tried the chupe (seafood soup), Maduros and the Colombian chorizo with tostones. My go-to meal is the pernil. I use the spicy green sauce on the table as my salad dressing and tostones dipper.. We sat in in the covered outdoor area which was brighter than indoors.

2021-09-03Came here with my friend who wanted to bring me to this establishment on 9/2/21. First off the service was extremely poor, by the fact we were not happy by the un-attentive staff & server. Sadly the food was really good! We started off our drinks & two starters, chorizo colombiano con tostones, & caribbean fried chicken tostones, then we ordered our entrees both of us ordered arroz chaufa, I had the house special & my friend had the con carne which was delicious. Sadly the service was terrible and we both felt unwelcomed since we both have disabilities, me being deaf & my friend being hard of hearing & visually impaired. Also I am a Culinarian & Foodie, I ate at the finest restaurants throughout the country and this establishment fell short. This establishment would have to convince me to return here and make it right.

2021-10-05Honestly the worst food Ive had and Im sad to say that because Ive wanted to eat from here for ever! I got the Caribbean shrimp in a garlic sauce and it tasted like Alfredo sauce with lumps of garlic. There was no Caribbean flavor. For the price it was not worth it and I wouldnt recommend to a friend.

2022-05-02Love!! Love!! Love this place, its very elegant and everything on their meal is delicious. And if you like Sangria, order yourself a pitcher... youll thank me later!! Best part, prices are reasonable and the platters are big.

2021-08-21Ordered from here today. All i got was a grilled chicken with rice and beans. My chicken on arriving home was so over cooked it was hard and crispy. Also for $15 I pretty much just got a container of rice and one tiny piece of chicken. Wont be stopping by here again. Waste of money.

2022-06-22This is a local spot for some friends of mine but not my go to. The servers seem to be overworked and so you overlook the lack of friendliness. It took a while before our drink order was taken and I believe my drink was $14 but I didn’t know until the bill came since no drink menu with pricing was given. On a previous occasion I had the empanadas which were really good. This time around I had a salad and tostones (I ate earlier).

2022-03-27The food was delicious. We were a party of 10 so we ordered a variety of dishes; all of them: papa a la huancaína, calamari frito, chicken wings were delicious. We had the Peruvian staples such a chaufa rices, ceviche and were well prepared and really good. We will definitely return. The service was good even though it was a busy night. But the patrons were happy. We had a great time to celebrate my dads 84th birthday.
