Pizza was amazing! But the pasta not so much. I got the fettuccine porchini (not sure If I spelled that right) and my partner had the eggplant Parmesan. The portions are very small for $22 and my fettuccine noodles weren’t cooked. They were hard and stuck together as you can see from the pics (sauce was nice) and the eggplant Parmesan seemed like it was made in water....soooo watery.
We have loved Tufinos for a while but our last experience was very poor. We ordered a salad and a pizza and waited almost a half hour for just the salad. Didn’t make any sense because when we walked in there were two people in the entire restaurant, and a table that came in about 10 minutes after got their food right away. We aren’t ones to make a fuss usually, and all we got was a mumbled apology for the ridiculous wait. Asked for the pizza to go because we had to get on with our day and it was just sitting there by the oven, already cold, not even room temp. Hate to say this but we won’t be going back.
My favorite pizza Pineapple Express.Wood fired octopus is deliciousIn pastas I love Fettuccine Porcino and Fettuccine with seafood.Love also the drinks, my favorite is Fuegorita.And... As dessert italian Tartufo. The service is really good. Thanks to Yoshi, she is great!!!!
The place is really cool inside, nice design, the food was good, and the pizza was pretty good, ok service.Fries were delicious, but the pizza for me was nothing special. And for the prices that they have $15 for margarita 22$ for the truffle pizza, i think they are high, because it was just a decent pizza and i am a big fan of anything with black truffle, but the pizza that i got the truffle pate was not spread out evenly, one of the slices had the most of it some none.Good experience overall, only complain probably the prices :(
We have ordered from Tufino MANY times. We’ve spent hundreds of bucks ordering from them. We enjoy the food and wanted to support our local businesses especially during the pandemic.Today we ordered polenta fries, regular eggplant with Penne and a beet salad with added grilled chicken and dressing on the side.We received our order on time. It was hot and fresh like always (again we really love this place). Unfortunately, the grilled chicken was missing. No problem. Got a refund from seamless for about 6 bucks and proceeded to enjoy the meal.In the middle of the meal Tufino calls me. Of course I think they are calling about the missing chicken. When I answered, the person goes “we are processing a refund here for missing grilled chicken”. I said “yes, that’s right”. He then accuses, “how is that possible when your driver is just picking up your order”. I explain, “we are literally eating our order right now” and I run through everything that is in front of us. Again he accuses, “how can you be eating your order if your driving is just now here picking it up”. I was angry about the accusation! I asked him if he wanted a picture! I also let him know that we order from there ALL OF THE TIME and that I did not appreciate him accusing me of lying or stealing! He started to apologize and explained there was another order there with the same name. I repeated that it was NOT ok, that it was their fault the order was wrong, I don’t know what is going on with their orders/delivery and I did not appreciate being called a liar or accused of trying to get over on them. Especially since we love this place and want to support a good local spot.I understand if that was frustrating on their end or if there was some confusion at the restaurant but they should have taken a beat to figure out what happened before calling and treating a customer in this way.We will likely still order from them again in the future but may need to take a beat before going back.
Very trendy place. Great atmosphere and very hip place. Food is spot-on. Delicious. Had a gluten free pizza The San Genaro... delicious!! Fresh gluten free dough which was amazing. Fired up in a 900 degree oven cooks it in a way youve never had before. Crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. My son had the fetuccini with truffle oil. He said it was the best pasta dish he has ever had. The staff was very attentive to satisfy and very pleasant. The owner stopped by our table to check in and introduce himself. Great experience. Strongly recommend going here.
Came here for dinner with my mom and my daughter. They were so accommodating and worked hard to make sure we were comfortable and had space with the stroller. The food was delicious and they checked on us a few times regardless of how busy they were. One of the owners( I think ) was very kind and made small talk which made me feel like family. Weve been here a few times but this was by far the best time yet! Thank you!
Was a little skeptical to order delivery because pizza doesnt usually hold up well steaming in a box, but the place is near to where we stayed so I thought wed give it a shot. Lived here in Astoria 7 years ago, and we would routinely head over there to dine in, which was consistently high quality food and service. Happy to report that all delivery pizzas we ordered were delicious and only incrementally compromised in taste compared to biting in fresh out of the mystical oven they have there. Delicious and mild burn spots on the pillowy and airy dough, and the cheese and toppings were just as perfect as I remember. Now... the truffle gnocchi was not something Id tried before. If it actually was available all those years ago, shame on me for claiming to be a human truffle pig. This was, by far, the best tasting truffle dish Ive had... And it was out of a plastic delivery container, on foot, scarfing it down over the sink. Light garlic cream sauce with generous truffle injections. Just amazing.
3/16/22 OMG what can I say about this place came here tonight with family that is visiting from another country I had no idea they had all the comic event but I must tell you my server Claire was the best in addition to that Steve the owner and all the staff were exceptional the food was great the attendance was great I loved everything about it I met the owner ofJudith It’s always dad there Exis my expectations everything was awesome and I must recommend and of course you are my picturesWe have been here during the Pandemic in the outside seating no complaints. Today we ate inside I had the Penne a vodka with Pancetta. It was good but I did not taste a any Pancetta at all. I complained to our waiter who by the way is John . Aand is excellent and we served us before. WeI told him I did not taste any Pancetta this dish he started that the cook said the Pancetta was very small but in the sauce....really! I have eaten Italian food for many years there was no Panetta in this dish. What helped was that I added oregano, fresh basil, Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. Thank you.
Amazing pizza and pasta. I ordered the Sangerano pizza and the gnocchi pasta . Both amazing! Scenery is like a brick house setting, perfect for a casual night . The drink I had was kryptonite. If you love sweet drinks this is perfect for you. We had Nate as our server. He was super attentive. Honestly if I could put ten stars I would. Definitely a spot to visit.
Loved the pizza! I ordered around 9:30pm last night. The prosciutto arugula pizza was SPECIAL. Maybe because of the truffle oil on top? Margarita was also super solid. This pizza has the best crust and the best crunch of all the local wood fired pizza places in the area. Easily the most flavorful. My favorite so far out of Milkflower and Macoletta. Keep it up!!
First of all, this is good brick oven pizza! I’m a native New Yorker so I know my pizza haha. This is great pizza, nice and saucy, the bread/crust was so fluffy and fresh. The pasta is bomb but portions are kind of small. If you’re super hungry the pasta may not fill you up but you should still get it. I recommend 10/10. The calamari also was freshly made (it was hottt) , flavorful, and crunchy. Currently ordering dessert so let’s see how that goes!😋😋
Went and dined out on the sidewalk near the bus stop last night. About 58degrees out, they had propane heaters amongst the tables which is a huge perk for staying warm! The service was great, our waiter was quick to seat us and was always within reach for our requests. The food was good, 1 pizza is enough to share and the harvest salad was balanced. Great service is super important, so kudos to this place. Note- the Bathroom was clean.
*Call Before Leaving Your Home To Go Here*On Sept. 22, arrived at about 12:45 PM to find the place closed. Chairs still folded inside. Male employee cracked door open to inform me that it will be another 10 mins. before we can come in. Screw that! Another 10 mins. after the place was 45 mins. late to open? Dont think so!
Very good pizza from a wood-fired oven, many nice pizza selections on the menu or build your own. The meatball appetizer is great. Salads are very good too. Service is pretty quick. Good for a group of 2-4 so you can split a bunch of different pies. They also serve alcohol.
I came one evening, later in the evening. And the place was almost empty, sad to say. It should be full! The service is excellent, the atmosphere is incredibly romantic, and the pizza is classic and delicious. It’s hard to find genuinely good quality pizza places nowadays, especially with chefs that don’t resort to the cheaper and lower quality ingredients. I am definitely coming here again next time I am in Astoria.
My cousin and I decided to come to this restaurant and the food was delicious! We ordered the futtucine pasta and gnocchi pasta and the chicken cesar salad. We loved the service and the food. The reason why I am giving it a low rating is because the way the treated us when we trying to usethe bathroom. They treated us and if we were taking our time. The people who were waiting, was constantly banging on the door and moving the knob while we are trying to do our business. Don’t rush me while I am trying to use the bathroom. Then my cousin had to use it, the minute she got inside, another customer started knocking on the door. I told the gentleman someone is in there. The waiter went and banged the door multiple times. That was disrespectful. He was like she needs to hurry up. We are not machines. Get multiple bathrooms then.
I went to dinner on a Friday night with 5 of my girlfriends as a farewell dinner for one of us who is leaving the city. The food was delicious. We all loved the octopus appetizer, the pizzas were yummy (according to my friends) and my misto salad was very yum. All good, but the service was lackluster/inattentive. I would definitely go back.
I’m a vegan, and this is the best vegan pizza I’ve come across. The first time I came here, the service was amazing. However, the second time (last night) was a total disappointment. The waiter was busy throwing rolled up paper balls into a candle at the bar, while my friends and I waited for our water to be refilled... for a half hour, because that’s how long it took to flag him down from his candle game. We finally resorted to asking a waitress for things like hot sauce, salt, pepper, and water. The waiter never even brought us ANY extra napkins, and we ordered three pizzas. Lazy, rude, acted like he didn’t even want to be there, like it was annoying to help us. I didn’t want to leave him a tip, but he was lingering at the table and watching what I pressed on the electronic credit card swipe iPad. Don’t even want to come back here after this experience. It’s so true that poor service can destroy a business, even if the food is delicious.
Great place and an open kitchen where you can see where they cook the pizza. The pizzas here have a very thin crust so if youre in to flavor and not into crust this is a place definitely worth checking out.The environment is very dark and it is on purpose to give sort of a artisanal feel. I feel somewhat uncomfortable in the darkness but this is up to the customers preference. The staff is nice but not engaging.
The food is decent (ok pizzas), but the service is lacking. When you have more than 5 guests they automatically add 20% tip to your bill but dont even fill your water glass unless you ask. When dining here with kids with celiac, they didnt have the advertised gluten free pizza and told us certain didnt contain wheat when in fact they did (chicken wings for example are rolled in flour before theyre fried). Even with potentially life threatening mistakes, the staff did not have an apologetic attitude. Ive come here numerous times but even when no one has allergies it just isnt a pleasant dining experience.
I used to work around this pizzeria in Astoria but never had a chance to go until now. When you first walk in, you smell the wood burning, cheese melting, it makes you want to eat pizza right away. They have a pretty decent selections of pizza dishes or specialty dishes. My girlfriends been here before so she recommended me the Gnocchi. The pizza only took about 10-15 minutes until we received ours. The pizza looked so good to eat that the color of the cheese was vibrant and wasnt too saucy. The pie is so thin and crispy it felt like eating a thin cracker with a smoked woody taste and warm melted cheese on top.
Pretty good place. I am vegan and they make some good vegan pies. Also this is the only place Ive ever encountered a vegan CALZONE. That was a very pleasant surprise. The veg pepperoni they use is also really good. Ive returned now for second time, and will continue to, very enjoyable little place.
Good Pizza can be hard to find in Astoria when you grew up in Brooklyn, but after finding this gem, I can truly say, I feel like Im back in Brooklyn. The pizza simply rocks. Thin crust , perfectly executed with many specialty pies. Each one better than the next. Personal favorites , the Nonna. You must also try the rice balls, they simply have no equal. The chef is on point. Do not hesitate to hit this place, you will also love the warm decor.
Service is absolute garbage, the owner knows nothing of respect and is a terrible judge of character. I expect questions on their Vegan Pizza to be answered since I have been vegan for 3 years and would not want it to be ruined because of a stupid mistake, instead I get bullied and harassed and no proper answer to my questions. The owner which was my waiter then proceeds to call a really big and tall intimidating guy and has him literally push us out the restaurant. and he for some reason also takes his shirt off making my friends and I even more uncomfortable.Worst quality of service I have had in years, disappointed that others may have experienced what i did.
Delicious food, great vegan options (just make sure they hear you when you specify that you want your pizza vegan) like other reviewers said, I feel like the food is super overpriced for Astoria and in general. 22 dollars for a small pizza seems excessive, but I want to keep supporting them!
The staff is so polite and actually very funny!! Our waiter made us laugh, and it was great to be sitting inside. Tonight was a movie night so definitely head in next Sunday!!!We got a bulldog to split and it was fantastic. The specials were delicious and super filling !! I definitely recommend coming in here and hanging out for a bit. We enjoyed being here and as stated above the staff was super courteous. If youre ever on ditmars and want delicious fresh italian food, GO HERE !!!
The pizza at this place is delicious, BUT NEVER ORDER DELIVERY. Recently my boyfriend and I ordered (through Tufinos own website) 2 pizzas and a salad to be delivered to our apartment 10 blocks away. Not only did it take 30 minutes to get to the kitchen, but it took another HOUR for it to get delivered. Meaning we waited 90 minutes for 2 pizzas and a salad to be delivered less than a mile away. Not only that THE SALAD WAS NEVER DELIVERED!!!! I called to alert the staff and was told that my total would be changed, but instead my card was charged the full $55. So disappointing since I used to love this place, but it is clear the management is no longer providing good customer service
Classic pizzerias, depending on where you live, they can either be a rarity or a “dime a dozen”, especially in New York City, where there’s thousands of pizzerias that clamor for business and strive to impress their customers. Tufino Pizzeria Napoletana does just that: serve high quality food with impeccable service, and it leaves me yearning for more after my first visit.Located in a highly concentrated pizza area (there’s a handful of them within a few blocks of here), Tufino makes their mark by going for traditional Neapolitan (or Napoletana / Southern Italian) pizzas, with a custom made Italian wood oven (“Di Maria”), leaving their pizzas cooked as soft & palpable as fresh baked bread. The only MTA Subway Station is Astoria-Ditmars Blvd (N/W), 7 minutes away on foot. When entering in, you’ll see a cozy interior overall: plenty of seating, little free space, might be good for intimate times out or a meeting w/ your friends. Wednesday’s, 50% off for some wine bottles, and Thursday dinners usually have live music to brighten the mood. Not too bad if you plan on coming here one day.Just about all of their food is made by handmade, and their featured pizzas are all baked within their special imported wood burning oven, leaving them soft, without many blemishes (“burn marks”), and enough to feed 2, or a hungry person, being a 12” pizza, or in some pizzerias, a “small” or pizzette size (not sure if they’re available larger). Appetizers range from cheeses & meats, as well as classic buffalo wings. There’s several pizzas, such as “classic” margherita or marinara pies, to their specialties using soppressata, truffle oil & mushrooms, and more. A handful of pastas & salads are also available, as well as desserts, such as ice cream, s’mores calzones, Nutella pizzas. Even several vegan options can be done, such as vegan pastas, Vegan pizzas, and vegan ice cream, as well as vegan friendly “meats” and “cheeses” as extra toppings, as well as GF crusts. Fortunately for vegetarians (myself) & vegans, youre in luck since theres options such as classic margherita, marinara pie, vegetarian pizzas, even vegan cheeses can be added here, the same goes for pasta and calzones. Theres also a good lineup of cocktails & wines, as well as beers for those interested. Pricing is modest in regards to what a classic sit down pizzeria has to offer, and with the high quality ingredients & preparation done, its a worthwhile trade off. The drinks could be a tad more affordable, such as canned sodas being 2,50$ maybe being less?My first impression of Tufino was pretty nice, and I was looking forward to coming here initially for brunch on a Sunday, but plans changed, so I’ve went on the fly for dinner, and fortunately for me, waiting for a table was nonexistent, and service did take a small while I’ve got adjusted and prepared my photography gear for what’s to come. Decided to opt for classics that evening, and went with crispy mozzarella fritto as my antipasti. After a small while, it came, two mozzarella discs breaded & fried, topped with oregano & parmesan cheese and paired with homemade dip. It was succulent, the cheese was prepared with texture in mind, not “hard”, but still creamy, and still retained its “juice”. Next up was a Margherita Pizza, steaming hot right out of their oven, the crust was soft & manageable with minimal blemishes, the cheese (unique mozzarella) retained its chewiness and was a good balance with the sauce. Ate almost half since I was already full before coming in here to eat, and I was pensive on ordering dessert, but my tank was F for that day, time to go home. Chatted with one of the workers (who had his family over, I mean its Sunday so why not?) for good remarks and left on a high note, pondering whats next to come.Until next time!
I found this place OK but of no value. $52 (with tip) for a pitcher or sangria and a pizza just isnt what Im about. The menu is very hard to order from since most Americans cannot pronounce much of it. Service was very good and they are very nice. There was NOBODY in this place when we walked in but I attributed it being a hot day and sunday at 1:30. I have not seen anyone in this place ever though. I suspect they will be closed by Christmas. They took forever to open so the place was really built up with anticipation. I can see why Albas was not teribly concerned.
THANK YOU!!! TOM picked up the phone on a rainy Saturday afternoon and listened to all of my vegan and gluten free and no cross-contamination concerns. Finally a vegan pizza that actually has vegan cheese in Astoria! My sister has celiac disease and she woke up to tell me she had no side effects (meaning the pizza was actually gluten free and there was no contamination!) I will DEFINITELY be ordering from here again. Great pizza and great staff!!! My entire family enjoyed it! Xoxoxo
Ive spent a lot of time in Italy- my family is Italian. I will agree that the style of food is pretty authentic. But the value isnt there. What you get for your money, just isnt worth it. My husband and I went one evening to have a light dinner because we werent very hungry and it was still over $50. We ate everything and didnt leave full. Not that I have to be full every time I eat- but my point is- with ALL the options you have in and around NYC, this place should not make it on your list of go-tos. And they have a sign saying they were rated as one of the best Cheap Eats for 2013- I highly disagree. I can tell you plenty of places that ARE- and this is certainly NOT one of them.
Just got delivery and was extremely disappointed. Pizza was room temperature, cheese was hard because it was no longer hot. There was so much cheese I dont even know how you can call that a margherita pizza. Hardly any sauce and half of the pizza was crust. I usually order from here and its decent but this time just completely awful. Will not order from here again.
We were here on a snowy Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was not busy at all. I was surprised given the good reviews I found online. The atmosphere is cozy and decor is casual. We started with their Farra Salad, which has arugula, goat cheese, pine nuts, raisin drizzled in sweet honey dressing. We also ordered their Arancini balls appetizer which comes in number of 3. It is very very good! The risotto crust is crispy and creamy with warm cheese and sausage inside. The balls comes on a bed of red sauce and I could barely have half of it.For entree, we shared a Prociutto and Arugula pizza. I enjoy the flavor of the combination. The prociutto and arugula is very fresh. The dough however seems too drenched by the red sauce. Overall, it is a very flavorful pizza but the crust needs to be able to hold the sauce and topping. We got their Nutella pizza for dessert and this is a winner. The crust here is crispy and chewy and they give you tons of nutella and confection sugar powder on that.We will love to return to try other pizza!
Wonderful pizza shop primarily but it acts as a wine bar as well. Nice match between the two with a decent wine selection. The decor is simple but what stands out is the large pizza oven in the back. The pizza proprietor here really forms great pizzas.Highlights are the meatball sliders. Juicy and flavorful with veal and beef. The fried zucchini fries with a great sauce. Crisp and salty. The cappellini cakes. Crisp topped cheese with a pasta like filling. Pizza highlights were the white brie pizza and the spicey honey pancetta pizza. Crisp and soft crust from the wood fired oven. Great service and a great place for a pizza night.
My wife and I lived in Europe for a few years and have been fortunate enough to have gone to Naples, Italy a few times (the birthplace of pizza) and had pizza there. This is the best pizza we have had since being back in the US. It is authentic neapolitan pizza. If your mind set is NY style American pizza, then this might not be the place for you. This hidden gem off Ditmars Blvd in Astoria surprised us with how good it really was. We had the Arancini to start and shared two pizzas (the Bufula and the Vegetarian). They use top shelf ingredients like bufula mozzarella, organic italian tomato sauce and very fresh veggies. The pizza comes fresh and piping hot, right out of the wood burning oven (from Naples). You have to eat the pizza right away before it cools and loses some of its integrity to really appreciate how good it is. The crust is light and airy...just like in Naples! After we finished our meal, we spoke with the owner and you could hear his passion for great, authentic neapolitan pizza. The wine list is very good and they have a well rounded menu. So happy to have discovered this place. This was our first of what will be many visits!
Pizza Pizza!!!Wonderful ways to kick out the week, having a couple of glasses fill with wine and some good Italian pizza.Napoletana is a tiny, but nice and cozy spot with great atmosphere that is locate in Astoria.Jando opened the door at 6:00 PM, giving the welcome the elites, and scanning their party pass. After doing this, he was sending us directly to the bar to get a glass of wine.Few minutes later the staffs attack us with couple of trace full of: Warm Farro Salad, Mini meatball sliders, and different type of pizza. All food was delicious.Staff was very friendly, and did a great work serving food and brings some drinks from the bar.
I got better service from the meter maid outside that gave me the parking ticket! Service lacks but the food makes up for it,you run out of limes? With a supermarket 200ft away? Very disorganized for a Saturday night .Go there for the pizza and dont expect anything else
Tucked in a small storefront among multitudes of restaurants on Ditmars Blvd is a wonderful wood-fired pizza place, Tufino. They use excellent ingredients, hosts a warm and friendly atmosphere, and each bite of pizza crust leaves you wanting more. I recommend starting out with the Mista salad paired with the warm and comforting Ararcini. The best bang for the buck pizza wise would have to be the San Gennaro - its a smart pairing of sweet and savory while not masking the delicious wood smoke flavor in the crust.
Came here on a Sunday for lunch and it wasnt crowded. They have the oven out in the main space so you can see them make your pizza fresh. We ordered the Farro Salad (goat cheese, arugula, olives, rasins etc), Arancini Balls (good size, 3) and for pizza we got the Proiutto E Arugula (Baby Arugula, Prosciutto Di Parma, Parmigiano Reggianoshavings. All were pretty good. To top it off we got a Nutella Pizza...cant go wrong there! One of the better pizza places around Astoria!
Unfortunately today at Tufino was a complete disappointment. We witnessed two tables served before us. Or course both tables were of customers that were Caucasian. If you’re are of latino or black please bring your business elsewhere. The server today brought out six pies while we sat there for 45 mins after we placed our order. Unacceptable.3/04/2020. Sat down at 7:30pm and it was 8:30pm still no entree. We were a table of two.
THE GEM OF ASTORIA!!! Their Calzone Fritto is the Greatest food I had in my entire life!!! NOOOOO exaggeration! This is where its at come here, feast, laugh, and have the best time!!Thank you to the owner STEVEN!! He made the night with me and my friends so much funAbsolutely love Tufinos!!
Just ordered 2 pizza’sDon’t expect what menu saysAll burned,no much cheese -or no cheese at all ,as it says on the menu but premium price. Also the staff very unfriendly, and RudeNot worth it.I will never order from this place !!!Better of Domino, Etc....at least is cheap

2022-03-08First time in NY, visit from Tampa FL. The pizza was great, the taste amazing. The sauce is not chunk, sour was in the perfect spot. The mozzarella A+ very good.I always thinking to put a business like your business in Tampa FL. I love the wood fire pizza. I need to learn how to make a good pizza.

2021-09-27This pizza is insanely delicious. I haven’t been to this brick and mortar restaurant, but Tufino had a pop-up tent in front of ICONYC brewery in Long Island City and I had the pleasure of tasting a margarita pizza ($16) and it was excellent. The prized experience was adding their spicy oil and truffle oil which was absolutely the best. I’ll be going to Tufino’s restaurant if I’m ever in the neighborhood and also recommend getting it if you’re ever at ICONYC in LIC.

2022-01-04Best gluten free pizza crust out there! And it’s wood fired! It’s been over a decade since I’ve had pizza this good. The homemade Caesar salad dressing was delish, too. Was worth the 20min drive from JFK.

2022-05-09I love good pizza and I thought. This place had decent pizza considering the pricing .We ate 2.pizzas and spent $50 on pizza itself .All ingredients were out.of a can and nothing was fresh, very disappointed as I looked forward well prepared and tasty pizza.Way overpriced for what they offer.

2022-01-09Love the pizza! Sauce and cheese is great. Well baked and crust is soft. Super yummy. Only con is that they don’t make individual slices so you have to get a personal pie or a full pizza.
