Ruined my move! Terrible service! Changed my reservation hours before my move and left me scrambling to pick up the pieces with no real explanation or even a care as to where the wires were crossed. If you can avoid this location do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
OMG we had a terrible experience with one of the workers, she is a light-skinned Jamaican with a red lipstick on, she was so rude to all the customers. there was so much customers in a line, we couldnt believe she left all of us there and went outside to make personal phone call for about 25 minutes 😢 some of us even ask her co-worker if shes on break for our surprise she said she wasnt on break. I was so shocked there was no supervisor there to supervise them and also they are so slow, for my suggestion I think they should put a young people there so they can move fast
The people that work at the place were very nice, they listen and tried to help you to the best of their abilities. I had a Fe questions and they give answers base on their knowledge. Thats my third time using using that location, I will continue to use it. Great customer service.
Arrived there at 6:50PM to return my truck, The guy who suppose to accept the return was nowhere to find. i have entered the store to look up for him, he said he clocked out already and i should park the truck behind the store and check out online. I drove the truck behind the store to realize the gate was closed. came back with the truck and went to the reception at 7PM and they told me the store is now closed. had to stay inside and explain to the receptionist that this is wrong so eventually they sent a lady (which was the only helpful person - this one extra star goes to her!) who could do the check out and return. besides that, the location in terms of safety is horrible. i was literally afraid for my safety and asked to stay in the truck till my ride arrives. i will NEVER EVER come back to this location.
This is a mixed bag and a long review. I broke it up into sections( staff, online booking/location, cleanliness). **Summary: Book online, get there at least 20min prior to your pickup time, have all your info/credentials ready for checkin, bring cleaning supplies.**(STAFF) Ive come to this location a few times, because of convenience & size trucks they offer. Now, my experience with the staff has been mid - good. I (again my experience), havent had issues with staff, however I have witnessed staff being short/dry with other customers and its the fault of the customer and/or staff. So, you may not get big smiles & cheery attitudes & they may have conversations with coworkers while serving you. *Note: Book online and have all your credentials ready, for faster/ possibly friendly service. Total check in process 10-20min (checkin & truck assessment/ cleaning). *Times may vary depending on wait time & cleanliness of equipment.**(ONLINE BOOKING/LOCATION) I always use the mobile check-in feature, which allows you to check in/ pickup via mobile & eliminates going inside...it never works. I still have to go to the counter and check in. So, pick up your truck/equipment during business hours, otherwise youll be fu**ed. You will not be able to pickup your rental during off hours. (*Also, not a truly safe place to be at during off hours.)I have rented trucks & equipment online, way in advance (1-2 weeks before) and I will say, the equipment is usually not available or I get part of my order (ie: dollies, furniture pads). *Note: Dollies are usually not avail, even though it says available on their site.**(CLEANLINESS) Cleanliness of vans/trucks... thats a gamble. I have rented 6 vans & trucks from this location (from Dec 2020 - Nov 2021) and 2 have been clean enough where you can get right in (not much cleaning on my part). However, with Covid, I will clean myself and majority of the time, I have to deep clean, because its gross (trash, food particles, sludge in cup holders...). I will give the benefit of the doubt (to the staff), this is a busy location, trucks are constantly getting rented quickly and the time to really deep clean is limited between rentals. So, be prepared to deep clean your rental.
Lets start by saying this dont offer a reservation guarantee if when the customer gets to the location and you gave away the van, truck or dolly. Dont false advertise that also dont show favoritism we are all paying customers and we should be treated fairly. Waiting in the location for over 40 mins only to be told we dont have any Vans etc, go to the other location. The delivery of that critical information was just shouted across the store and with attitude. No level of customer service or care for how people were going to get to the other locations or even have the address to the other location. Please we want to support local businesses but have the right training and people who can actually handle a front office pressure. Wouldnt reccomend the location and the staff needs to be retrained. Some key takeaways:The staff is rude, lazy and generally uninspired. Expect to wait over an hour with or without a reservation. I had one and it made no difference. Want a walk through to your rental after finishing at the counter? No dice. I was handed a set of keys after signing my contract and had to go out into their fleet and guess which truck was mine. S/O to Joe - literally the ONLY helpful person at this location (although I take that with a grain of salt because he also attempted to hit on me, but since actual customer service here is so sparce, Ill take what I can get.) Equipment is old, rickety and overpriced. If you have it in you to read more, please proceed:1) The staff at this location is extremely inefficient and also RUDE. I arrived at 9:45 and didnt leave with my rental until 10:45. I HAD AN EXISTING RESERVATION. There was a line out the door and one agent who was servicing customers and was particularly ornery. After about 45 minutes of being in line (which was only 3/4 customers long but out the door due to Covid-19 distancing guidelines) another agent approached the counter to help, but from my observation she was equally as dismissive, inefficient and rude.2) When I arrived at the counter, I realized part of WHY it was taking so long: Apparently this location has implemented a policy requiring not only for you to provide a secondary contact number, but for them (U-haul) to be able to call that number and have the provided contact person answer the phone to verify your identity in real time at the moment you are at the counter picking up your rental.There are so many reasons why this is not only inefficient but also completely and totally ineffective (especially if someone genuinely has ill intent), however the main issue is that 1) this so-called policy is not commicated clearly at the time of reservation and 2) people have lives and jobs and the right to be able to sleep in or not have their phones at the ready when U-Haul decides they want to moonlight as a government agency and act like this policy does ANYTHING to verify the veracity of an individual customers person. I spoke to the location manager Curtis regarding this and he said its a company wide policy that has existed for a while which is a lie because Ive rented U-Haul equipment PLENTY over the years and have NEVER had such an experience. However if it is a new policy, it is RIDICULOUS and whoever decided to implement this policy should be FIRED.3) U-Hauls equipment is overpriced and outdated. For the cost of what a customer is paying, we should at least have powered windows and doors and an engine that doesnt sound like a hand-me-down tractor trailer. I understand that moving rentals get beat up over time because of their intended use, but its 2021. The offerings need to get better or the pricing needs to come down. My truck sounded like it was in desperate need of an oil change and there was an assortment of indicator lights on that probably shouldnt have been.4) The East Flatbush U-haul location on Kings Hwy needs a COMPLETE overhaul and if it is a franchise, the company needs to come in covertly (ie secret shopper style) and make sure that their franchise agreement is being adhered to because this location alone will make a customer never want to return.10/10 would not recommend.
U-haul in general was disappointing as they used a different quote than what they charged me on the phone and then during pickup it took an extra 45 minutes to grab my truck as it was misplaced between a bunch of other vehicles.They had to first locate it then move other trucks before I could get going. When I finally got to the dropoff it was closed and the GPS wasnt working at this location to confidently show I was dropping off at the right location.
Not great, not terrible. Middle of the road. Ive lived in NYC all my 41 years, so 8 dont expect great customer service anywhere I go. There are day laborers all over their property waiting for work. They rush your vehicle the instant you pull up looking for work. A little unnerving, but the economy is in the tubes, what do you expect? This location can use more staff or retraining, because everyone is just going through the motions rather uninterested.
We called in advance to see if they would install a hitch, they said yes and we drive an hour only to find out that the man who does the installations, was not there today and that he only sees people by appointment. They should have said that from the beginning and not make people drive all the way there for nothing...😠
Just wow! The customer service here is akin to that of a DMV. I just needed a cargo van for about 4hrs and was treated like a criminal. Im disappointed in the staffing as they are very comfortable and disengaged with customers. I had to wait until the employees finished a conversation about politics before being served it was unbelievable.
I have had many experiences with this place. Some were good. Most were okay. Many times they are very unorganized and no one has any idea what’s going on. Just to get a confirmation they need everyone to come and confirm it. Really unprofessional and frustrating. This has not happened allot and I still do business here. I hope they work on it because they are clearly busy as hell. But customer satisfaction can bring them to the right side lol. But seriously I think they need to figure how to handle the large swarms of people and cater to everyone at the the same time. Not saying it’s easy but I feel like it’s something they are lacking.
Holy moly - They are busy!I scheduled a trailer hitch installation and they called me to confirm the day before.. called me to see if I was on my way when I was running a few minutes behind and took me immediately and I was out within 1.5 hours. Winston was friendly and efficient.Woman at the front desk is definitely overworked and should have a partner to handle volume of customers flooding through the door.Great experience. Thank you.
Terrible experience. Waited more than an hour. They didn’t have the size truck I had reserved (17 ft) so got a van instead. As a result had to make many trips. Chrissy the lady who was there at the return could not have cared less. Very rude, and not a hint of a “oh sorry we completely messed up your day”.Would not recommend this location. You’re unlikely to get what you booked.
This place is like purgatory.Expect to wait 30+ minutes no matter what you do, even if youre trying to do scan n go... I waited 1.5 hours today for the wrong truck. I and a few other folks here had reserved 15 foot trucks and there were none here... Love it! When I left there were NO trucks on the lot and five people behind me in line.At least I got a show: the two times Ive been here Ive witnessed screaming matches between staff and customers! 🍿Now thats what I call entertainment
Placed a reservation a week in advance. Day of rental I arrived on time and waited 45 minutes before being told they did not have the vehicle I reserved. If that wasnt bad enough, the extra equipment we needed in order to move our furniture was also out... I would avoid this location at all costs.
Rude/ terrible customer service... the lady that wears the bright blue contacts clearly hates human interactions. She was rude to me & everyone that was ahead of me. Management/owners should speak to her about this. It’s pretty clear that she’s a problem based on all of the reviews I’ve read about her. Customers can be pests but it isn’t all of us.
The worst uhaul location. Made a reservation a week before moving and when I came in, they didn’t have any trucks available. They couldnt care less and only made an effort to find something when I threw a fit. The customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. AVOID THIS PLACE. Do not trust that if you make a reservation that you will have a truck. They simply do not care.
Waited in line for over an hour after making a reservation via phone. Then they got the nerve to call someone else all the way behind me because they picking up a box after Ive been waiting so long. Then theyre taking their sweet little time like they dont have a care in the world. Wish I could give a zero!!!
Abysmal location. I received nothing I ordered - hand truck, bed covers or the size truck I wanted. I was told “we don’t have it” after already being transferred there from a different place. The older woman has a disgusting attitude and should be replaced. I was given the keys to the truck and had to find it in the yard in the rain.
The reason this is 2 stars instead of 1 is because I dont know who is more to blame. I made a reservation for a truck and equipment to move. But when I got to the office, they informed me that they had no equipment. No attempt to notify me was made and they had known since at least early that morning. No attempt at good customer service was made to help deal with the situation. Instead I was told to call around to other Uhauls to get the necessary equipment. When I did, I was told at these other locations that they do not reserve equipment only and I would need to rent a truck...2 days later, or they could give me the number for a location that did rent equipment (actually only about a 1/3 of the equipment Id asked for). But the number was to the original Uhaul that sent me on this wild goose chase to begin with. It was not until I got visibly upset that I was told I needed to call customer service central. Finally, customer service was able to find a location that world rent me the equipment. So I ended up renting from two different Uhaul locations. Also, had to switch trucks because the seatbelt did not work on the first one. Because of the delays, I ended up having to keep the truck and equipment overnight and returning the next morning, again to trip different locations. When I returned the truck the next morning, I was charged because the gas meter was a little below half, though nowhere near empty. When I explained that was because I had to make multiple stops at another Uhaul, I was told to take it up with customer service. That are serious gaps in service and the last thing I wanted to deal with while trying to move during a pandemic.
Biggest ripoff company around, a $19.99, ten (10)ft van should never end up costing anyone a total of $86.00 for a few hours and twenty-three (23) miles driving. Too many made up charges with pre and post rental. Theyre stealing from right before your very eyes without weapons, breaking in or picking your pocket. You are so helpless when you return their vehicle. Outrageous price of $1.79 per mile..theyre horrible for me to continue with them again
The worse experience of customer service. I ordered appointment for wiring and tow kit by phone and they asked to provide my bank account info for payment. I brought my car for wiring service during which the chargers inputs were broken and sold tow kit was not provided by the store. In the same time no money was refunded for not completed service as well as for not provided tow kit. Its illegal, be aware of this Seller.
Rented a 10 van. The van was dirty and filthy. Left over food with bones all over. The back was filled very dusty. Dust was allover my mattress and furniture. I cant believe in COVID-19 they still arent cleaning their vans. Disgusting!!! Unbelievable!!! We asked a worker to clean the van and he came with an attitude, wiped a little and sprayed something then left. I was warned about this location and yet to save on miles I still went there. Please stay away from this place!!! Go to a location that cleans their vans so you wont get sick. You will thank me later
Worst experience renting a truck ever, EVER! I reserved a truck 2 days ahead of time, I come in to pick it up, oops!, sorry no truck. Then staff promised to get a truck for me. Im waiting an hour or more, meanwhile other people are getting trucks, larger than the one I reserved, but I told her Id take a larger truck as soon as I found out no small ones were available. the woman dissappears and never returns, finally another woman asked me if she could help me, after sitting there nearly 2hrs. I tell her my story, she looks on the computer and tells me my truck is at the new Utrecht dealer. I would have been waiting there all day if she hadnt asked me anything. Never go here customer service sucks
It is ridiculous! There are 17 people on line here behind me and I have been waiting for 50 mins already. Only two people are working very slowly. The worst location ever!!!! I have no idea how long more do I have to wait since I had only 2 people ahead of me 15 mins before and now I have one person ahead of me.
Most of the staff are rude, the truck they gave me was blocked on 3 sides making getting into the truck and pulling out of the lot difficult, the trucks are kept unlocked and daily laborers were sitting inside some of the trucks, my truck had a weed smell, there was a sticky residue inside the cup holderThe truck I got needed a wheel alignment desperately and the check oil light kept coming on
Melessa and the crew working at this U-Haul are AMAZING!!!!!!!They helped my family and I get everything together for our move to Florida and everything went smooth and perfect!!! Never a problem!!! Very honest and extremely helpful staff and so NICE!!! Its a rare quality to come across.If youre in Brooklyn and need to use U-haul, go to this location, you will not regret it!!!
I rented a vehicle late at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon, and returned at about 7:30. Prior to taking the vehicle, I mentioned to the rep that I would be dropping the vehicle off after closing, but I wouldnt be driving more than 15 miles or so. She said people do it all the time, and someone would contact me and let me know what my charges were. I actually drove a total of 12 miles and parked the vehicle at the location. . After not hearing from anyone on Monday, I called them to find out my charges. They charged me for 42 miles! After explaining to the representative that I am 200% positive about my mileage, she informed me that that is what they recorded! I believe they rented the vehicle on Sunday without recording that vehicles mileage and ended up finalizing my receipt AFTER! For anyone looking to drop off, make sure you take a picture of the speedometer, otherwise you may end up being charged more than you estimated!
This place is a rip off. I picked up a vechile yesterday and returned the vechile with the same amount or more than was given. They paper that they give that shows the gas estimate was incorrect. When i told the dispatcher i was he brushed it off and now i am left paying for something that i did not use. I drove 6 miles in total. When i called the representative was very rude and condisending. I would never recommend this place to anyone. .
Horrible service!!!!!! They had one person really working and my 11 am appointment turned to a 1230 pm pick up. On top of that, the lady stayed on the phone the whole time talking to another customer while trying to help us. Completely unprofessional. Never again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All female run UHaul.....Power to the women......Excellent Customer Service. Very Quick....Enjoyed.......the environment is rough in that area....was alittle scared walking in with these men standing outside.....but the ladies made me feel comfortable. Would recommend that location
Very poor customer service, dirty main customer area, overcrowded with boxes, simply small place.To improve: train, train, train your customer service, renovate the place and more important have someone with good organizational skills to improve flow of customers. Create drop off after hours.
I waited over an hour in line for service even though I had a reservation. I finally get to the front of the line to be serviced, the woman was rude and sarcastic. Then the things that I reserved outside of the actual truck was available. Then the same person points me in the incorrect direction of where the truck is.
I was make reservation 2 weeks ago for trailer 5×8. When incoming day for pick up this trailer guys try connect my wires for light behind the trailer. But is not work . All wires in trailer was broke. I dont understand why they keep everything in so bad condition . Then they said I have to wait for some mechanic . Total is was take already 2 hours. And Im still here . Damn
Place is very busy, so I suggest you get there earlier then needed, customer service is ok,I had a brake controller installed and it took over 6hrs, book time says 1hr if that but getting customers trucks or trailer ready seemed ok, equipment being brought back get completely checked in fluids/ cleaned out/ and body-damage checked/ wht else u expect from a rental place
They are slow ,slow ,slow! Dont think you will be in and out of here quickly youll be out of luck .Make sure you reserve a truck or you may not get one.if you need help with your move talk to DJ out front and hell pick the best guys to help with your move.they are fast and cheap.

2022-06-02This is 1 of the busiest and the slowest uhal I have ever been to and their attitude is not customer welcoming. If I have no choice I still would never go back to this uhaul.

2022-05-22I had no problem whatsoever. Made my reservation days before. They even called to verify. Pick up was easy. Van was good. Drop off the same day with no problem. Courteous workers too.

2022-06-01I made an appointment for hitch installation for 9 AM, when I arrived Front desk supervisor told me I have 11am instead of 9am. After conversation with store manager we find out somebody moved my appointment, however nobody knows who. I waited for 2 hours just to find out that hitch came with a bolts missing! Reschedule in two weeks, I was taken on time, however after an hour, technician came out and informed me that he received wrong hitch and nobody makes hitches for Audi A4 all road! Horrible customer service, unprofessional stuff and management. PS Bathroom was out of service for all those weeks!

2022-05-26I was very disappointed when Uhaul scheduled me to pick up here versus the Park Slope location, but the on site team made me feel a lot better. I had a reservation and it went so smoothly. Their team even helped me pull the truck out of the parking lot since it was tight.

2022-02-20Extremely frustrated with Uhaul today. System went down during pick up and I had to wait over an hour before I was able to receive the van. The system was also down when I returned the truck. Called customer service and there was a 40 minute wait. I had to wait for the system to be back in service before leaving the lot. There should be a protocol in place whenever the system is not functioning (ie using paper documentation).

2022-02-21Absolutely large inventory of vehicles, always ready for work. They have facilitated our community food pantry distribution via No Longer Bound Ministries headed by Rev. Pedro Torres. The rental process and return runs smoothly and the interpersonal service has improved greatly. Credit to Mr. Jenkins and his leadership of his team!

2021-08-01Worst uhaul ever. Truck was late by over a hour and a half and they said we get $100 refunded guaranteed if the truck is late. When we finally get one (5 feet shorter than the one we booked) she pretends to not know about the $100 refund. Only reason she pretended not to know was there was 20 other people waiting for late uhauls and she would’ve had to give all of them $100 off. She didn’t want to lose the money.We returned the same night and get a call 12 hours later. They didn’t even realize we dropped the truck off and had someone else waiting for over a hour for the truck. Wonder if that was the case with us the day before???They then call us saying they don’t know where the keys are and we took them after dropping off the truck. We continue to say we took a picture and video of us dropping the key off. They called back arguing we stole the key for whatever reason. Then in the background their own employee says “oh I know where the key is.” I questioned the women on the phone and she said he was talking about something else and then he reads off the car number and says “no. The key for his truck I know where it’s at”. At this point she realizes she’s wrong and just hangs up on us.One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. They had over 20 people waiting on late trucks and then accuse you of stealing keys…

2022-03-23I will give 0 stars,Do not Rent anything from this location,agent try to give me a truck with big body damage,. when I ask to put the damaged on contract he refused, he start telling me dont worry, this made me really uncomfortable, I had a bed feeling Im going to pay on it,I just was trying to make sure they dont going to put the damage on me,was no one to complain & no one to talk to,I called 1800 U-Haul & no one was helpful,ended not renting the truck, wasted 2 hours, went to budget truck rental, got good service & good truck in 5 minutesnever ever going to rent a truck from this location,
