Its unfortunate to see these negative reviews and it looks like they are old. I have high praise for the way they treated me and the bike hitch they installed on my car. It was a tricky job on a non conventional fit and took them over three hours but they persevered and got the job done in exactly the way I wanted it. The mechanics and guys on the front desk kept me informed of the progress throughout the wait. Thanks guys.
An absolutely awesome experience I had an 8 am appointment for a hitch install. These guys are unbelievably fun and professional at the same time I have been to several uhaul over my lifetime and this is actually one of the best run customer service was unbelievable places I have ever dealt with. And would recommend them to anyone looking to do U-Haul rentals this is a place corporate should very much use as a footprint for all other U-Haul rentals
Horrible customer service. My reservation was for 7:30 am for a 17’ truck using the app to pickup. No truck when I get there, had to wait till they opened at 8 to talk to someone. Turns out they overbooked and didn’t have my truck I made the reservation for. They down graded me to the 15’ truck that’s all they had left. Guy in front of me had the same problem only his pickup time was 1:30am using the app and same thing no truck. They told him they over booked. Went to return the truck and stood inside the location waiting for a representative to check the vehicle back in and all three just stared at me and reused to come inside. I then used the app to check every back in( app was very easy). I will not be using U-Haul again. Good luck everyone using them.
Had a reservation for Monday morning at 8 o’clock when I walked in the line was backed all the way up there was a guy and girl the guy was having problems but I went to the girl think her name is Antoinette. she helped me and the boy that was working as well she was very nice she was very helpful she got the line down within minutes she was a wonderful employee
I wanted to have a trailer hitch put on my 2014 CRV. I was told that Farmingdale had everything in stock. I made the appointment for Saturday September 26. U- haul called and canceled it. A new appointment was made for Saturday Oct 3 at 10 AM. At 7:15 am I got a call saying the mechanic had an emergency and wouldn’t be able to do it. A new appointment was made for Sunday Oct 4 at 9 am. When I received the email confirmation the time was 10am, not 9am. I called the Farmingdale Office to ask what time was correct. I was told don’t worry someone will call you and verify what time to come in. On Sunday morning, I didn’t receive a call and called the office at 8am. I was told to come in at 10am. When I walked into U-Haul at 9:45 am, They then told me it would up to 2 hours because they were having a problem putting a hitch on a car. After 1 hour I went to see how the other car was coming along. No one was working on the other car and there was no one to talk to in the office. I left and later called to cancel my order. I will be calling corporate to complain in the morning. They are very unprofessional and don’t seem to care about their paying customers. Would not use this place to have a hitch install. P.S there was also another customer in the store going through the same issues!
They charged me for the 26 ft. Truck, but it had steering problems, and was dirty! They waisted over 1hour of my time! The Manager was Ned was rude, had to pay twice because he canceled my reservation instead of swapping out the vehicle! Very Disappointed! Dont Go To this Location!
This place is being mismanaged, had to pick up a truck that was reserved online. 1 employee looked like he was washing his car in the back, and there was another employee working on a car in the front. No one at the front desk. There were 5 people waiting to pick up their vehicles, I left and went to Hicksville and they were able to help me. This place has been mismanaged for years I am surprised corporate hasnt taken any action. Save yourself the trouble go somewhere else.
NOT CLIMATE CONTROLLED BATHROOM IS USUALLY FILTHY NO T.TISSUE P.TOWEL GETS STUCK A LOT NONE AT ALLIM THE ONLY ONE WHO CHECK S IN AND OUTNO PARKING IN THE FRONT TOO MANY MEN AND ONLY 1FEMALE WHO CLEANS BARELYALTHOUGH THERE ARE VIDEO CAMS EVERYWHERE AFTER 7 pm its not safe in that locationThe guys are somewhat friendly
I had made a reservation for a trailer hitch install for a specific day when I showed up they told me they are overbooked no phone call I found out when I got there this happened 3 times the staff also needs to be trained they have no answers when I asked a question all they said was call the manager and handed me his card i called him and we rescheduled again and finally it got done very unprofessional the harness is laying in the trunk so I would have to have it hanging out of the trunk there should be a plug on the side of the hitch, also the interior of my 2020 explorer was were not put back I had to put back myself I was so fed up I just did it myself as well as the lighting harness, lastly they had to cut the bumper of the car to install the hitch you would think before they cut the bumper especially of a brand new car someone would call to ask for permission but no that was not the case the only thing I can say is the cut was done neatly. I do not recommend this place enter at your own risk
HORRIBLE SERVICE. Not surprised at the other negative comments left here.Long story short, I was told that installing the trailer hitch would take 2 1/2 hours, it was more like 5 hours.I was told Id get a phone call once the job was completed, well, I called back 3 1/2 hours later only to be told they had issues with the wiring and that it would be ready in about a half hour (thanks for the courtesy phone call uhaul!). So I waited for their phone call as I was told I would receive and nothing. So I called back an hour later, and finally I was told it was done (once again, thanks for the courtesy phone call uhaul!!).When I get there, the general manager gets worked up over a $10 refund I was promised by another uhaul employee. He claims they misread the invoice. I kept insisting. He becomes loud and insubordinate. I tell him he is very unprofessional because of the way he was speaking to me in front of his employees. He continues to yell and even mocks me by sarcastically wishing me a happy New year and that he hopes I feel good about fighting over $10.I leave the store, and look under my car and notice that a plastic cover seemed out of place. I chose not to go back into the store because of the situation. The next day, I go to the uhaul in Rockville Centre and they put the plastic cover back in its place.Uhaul, your employees are a reflection of your organization. And the service (or lack of) by the employees at the farmingdale location (especially the manager) have left me regretting my decision of doing business with you. I write this not to speak badly of your business, but rather, warn others of what to expect when doing business with uhaul especially at the farmingdale location.And to the manager, dont forget, your actions, as the person overseeing this location, affects the reputation of this business as a whole. Do yourself a favor, and learn the meaning of professionalism, courtesy, and respect. Dont forget, YOU are the manager, and both the customers as well as the other employees look to you to address problems not create them.
INCOMPETENT WAIST OF TIME. GAVE THE WRONG KEY TO THE VEHICLE. For some reason, the truck initially started, drove to our storage unit, filled the truck up completely and sat in the parking lot for 3 hours trying to get it to start waiting for roadside assistance. Babylon uhaul team was incredible and came out to help troubleshoot only to realize that the smudged key they gave us was FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. THEY HAD US DRIVE 30 MINS TO COME GET THE CORRECT KEY!!!!!!! All on top of not having the 26’ truck we originally reserved and the next best thing being a 17’ truck. Unbelievable
This building is old, supposed to be climate controlled-ITS NOT!!!!ITS HOT AND HUMID.DONT RENT HERE THINKING YOUR ELECTRONICS ARE PROTECTED.The bathroom is cleaned once a week and the folks who work there are pigs theyre disgusting, not clean at allBring and use your own toilet tissue and paper towel also bring wipes just in case you need to sit
Absolutely horrible. Called in a reservation in the morning for an F150 and auto transport trailer for Friday through Monday. We travel 2 hours to this location to pick up the equipment with confirmation email in hand, and are informed the reservation shows up as CANCELLED. The sales rep at the counter could NOT offer an explanation and had an equally inexplicable smirk on his face the entire time. This location only had the truck available with NO trailer here or at any location nearby. The reservation was made with the standard uhaul requirements, name, phone, email, credit card and even the make, model and year of the car I was to transport. There were NO attempts made to contact me about this cancellation, and NO help rectifying this complete waste of my time.
Dont Stop here if you have a Jeep/Chrysler Vehicle!!!I made an appointment to have a trailer hitch and wiring harness installed on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee for July 7 2016. That morning, I dropped off the Jeep and went to work nearby. About 3 hours later I got a call from U-haul employee stating my car was ready for pick and oh, you also have to take the car to the dealer to have the memory module re-flashed. I was a bit busy at the time and told her I would pick up the vehicle in about 30 minutes. When I got to U-haul she was not around and it slipped my mind to inquire about the re-flash. Back at work minutes later, I remembered about the re-flash and attempted to call her back. Unfortunately, and as always, only the call center answered the call. I asked about the re-flash which they knew nothing about, and said they would have someone call me back from the same U-haul location in Farmingdale. In a total of 7 days i never got that call back. Wednesday the 13th, I needed to pick up a trailer I ordered some time ago. To my surprise, we connected the trailer to the Jeep and tested the safety lights before driving off. THEY DID NOT WORK!!! We tested the trailer with a portable battery, and worked fine. We tested the 4-pin connector U-haul also installed and had no power. I immediately remembered the re-flash statement the girl from U-haul made. I called U-haul and the call center answered. I hung up and dialed my Jeep Service Center. Luckily they were able to get my Jeep in and out in about 1 hour. The charge was $152.00 at the dealer. No one at U-haul ever said anything prior to having them install the hitch and wiring harness about there being a charge afterwards. I did have other places quote me as little as $40. more to have the work done completely, before deciding to take it to U-haul, and Im sure I would have avoided this mess and extra expenses. I called U-haul back and once again got the call center only. After explaining to the agent, she transferred me to their corporate office and a complaint was formally made. They were also going to have the manager at U-haul Farmingdale call me back. Shortly after, I got that call from the manager. I told him I would stop by to see him in person. 45 minutes later, I showed up but he was OUT . Another person said he could help me out and did admit of not explaining the re-flash would be needed after the install. Usually the dealerships dont even charge was his defense. He decided to call the manager himself. Nothing was done on their behalf, as they both decided I was not entitled to any sort of compensation for the extra expenses I incurred. I will not call back the corporate office, Consumer affairs and the BBB and charge back my credit card.
Filthy Truck with graffiti and scratches up and down the sides. Cab smelled like cigarette smoke, and rub rails were broken and not secured to the walls of the truck. Engine lights never went off the entire trip. Never Again will I rent from this company. Called customer service, spoke with AJ and she was as useless as the truck. She couldnt get a supervisor on the telephone or the store.
Let’s see I would rather carry my belongings on my back then use this unhaul location again. First I pulled up and the workers turned the equipment hook up location into his own personal mechanic spot for his BMW. I guess they work on their personal cars on their down time. I have pictures to prove it. So to make a long story short. I needed to rent a truck at the last minute. Get there and Jason states that they don’t take cash deposits because people steal uhaul trucks. I guess he was trying to make the situation better. Lol!!! So he calls his general manager Russell singer which I asked to speak to and he refused to come to the phone. Big red flag. But said that I can use a friend or family credit card over the phone. Even more crazy. Looks like this location has there own rules. Called corporate office they said uhaul takes cash deposits. This location does what it wants. Run Run as fast as you can.
Horrible horrible facility.first the guys behind the counter were extremely slow. Waited over 45 mins. Then the guy could barley even speak was definitely high on something. Slurring words didn’t know anything I was asking him clueless as ever. Then Truck was NOT cleaned at all. Water bottles all over the floor dirt and stains. When we went to go return there was 15 vans and trucks lined up not being cleaned at all sticking out into the street made it extremely dangerous to park and caused a real hazard definitely will never give this location business again. Manager needs to fire staff and rehire

2022-06-25Extremely professional and helpful. Rented a trailer online, went to pick it up looked a little to small for what I needed... the guys hooked me up to a bigger trailer in 2mins! No issues in and out. We will be back here for trailer rentals.

2020-12-19Terrible. Apparently they know how to take a reservation for a 20 truck but still had zero trucks available even though I saw trucks there even though the time and date were confirmed. Whats the point of the reservation? When I got stuck on the ice in their parking lot, because nothing was plowed, no one bothered to help. All they have me was a broken shovel.

2020-10-17The worst place. Horrible service rude employees and even worst management. We order a trailer every week and everytime we get sent to that location its never available. Avoid this place.
