I had a very unpleasant shopping experience here today. The manager was following me around the store acting like I was a suspect. As a nurse, this is not how I ever want to be treated as my salary is probably 3 times what the manager makes. She should be more concerned with half the makeup displays being empty.
The original one stop beauty mall, where I can throw Wet n Wild and Urban Decay in the same basket and not have to take three buses to get both. I love how you can get both high end and premium products in one place. However, the selection of both is slightly less because of the need to accommodate both in the same space, so you’ll really find just the best sellers.
Ulta is, in general, much better than Sephora as far as their points system and general inventory goes. This location, as compared to the Orchard Park location, is a bit lacking, however. Nonetheless, staff is helpful and friendly, managers are great people with the customers best interest in mind. The store is, overall, clean, well managed, and a pleasant place to shop.
Never really come here and now I remember why... Scheduled two facials today one for 6:45 and another for my girlfriend at 7:15. These were specifically scheduled for enough time before her wedding. Arrived at 645 and was told by the manager she was just finishing up another client, fine. Almost 15 minutes later the manager said shed probably be another 5 minutes. A full half hour after our scheduled appoint I approached her and let her know we were cancelling. She simply apologized and that was it. My friend finished her shopping and while heading to the checkout the stylist in the back told us she was ready for our appointments now. We let her know we werent going through with the facials and we were heading out - she tried everything under the sun to get us to go ahead with our appointments - discounts, praising the esthetician, etc. Says a lot when an employee is willing to stick up for another and try and save a situation and the manager couldnt care less. Regardless, just wanted to share the unfortunate experience today. I understand appointments can change but not every customer is able to conform to them - simply brushing off an obligation - especially one before someones big day speaks volumes as to how you feel about your customer.
This business does not follow COVID-19 safety guidelines in their store. Was in there yesterday and everyone in the line was ON TOP of each other, mask pulled down beneath noses.. at 8 months pregnant I was super uncomfortable just waiting to cash out on Christmas gifts. The cashier seemed annoyed she had to radio someone over to monitor the situation. Lack of care and respect for their customers.
I actually had a great experience here!! Im very proud that this Ulta hired professional helpful and friendly employees! I couldnt say this if it were last year since every time I went here I was never asked if I needed help finding anything even if there were 4-5 employees on the floor and I always got this look of thats all youre getting or giving me an attitude if I wanted to return something BUT this time I was asked three times if I needed help and complimented on my makeup and just being truly nice I really appreciate that! Keep it up Ulta
10 minutes to pick out all of their amazing products ...30 minutes in line to cash out. They have plenty of people manning the cash registers but they spend an extra 10 minutes with each of them discussing signing up for the card and all the benefits. Beware they dont carry MAC products in the store, even though its advertised on their website.But, the store is beautifully organized and you will get asked if you need help at least once by store associates that appear more interested in talking among themselves about the new cosmetics than talking to the make up novice customers.
Cashiers were super friendly. My second time visiting Ulta and I’m super happy with their selection. I was looking for a item that I also checked the Lackawanna location for; and online it said in stock but I couldn’t find in store so make sure you call before you go.
After waiting for a long time for my make up appointment, the techs seemed to have forgotten that I had been standing there for an hour and a half with the rest of my daughters wedding party. I finally got in the chair and asked for a smokey eye. I got gold eye shadow, and had to ask for some brown under the eye. At this point I was in such a rush, that I just approved whatever she was doing. I was missing the getting ready part of the wedding. I ended up having to rush to the church in my own car, instead of riding in the limo with the ladies of the wedding party. By the time I got to the church, everyone was dressed and the hair stylist had wrapped up. Upon speaking to the salon manager, she made the entire situation sound like my fault and offered a discount for the store instead of the partial refund I was asking for. I dont shop at Ulta. A discount would not do anything for me. Despite having makeup so wrong for me that I looked like a geisha, (think about what the photos look like) the day was not a total loss. The wedding was perfect.
I love this store! The staff is friendly, fast and efficient... Line was super long but went very quick. Only thing I do not like is that the urban decay make up consultant is a bit brand pushy when I use and like mostly two faced. I felt very pushed into buying there product so I really hope its worth it.
I went here after Sephora cancelled my appointment to get my makeup done before an event. They were able to get me in last minute and the girl, Ashley, that did my makeup was wonderful! She explained things along the way, told me about their classes when I said I was clueless, and helped me pick out a foundation that works for me. She wasnt high pressure about buying products and only sold me what I asked for. On top of that, she helped me sign up for classes to learn in a week! I will be a faithful customer from now on.
Staff wasnt too friendly or helpful. My girlfriend was trying to find some make up by a certain brand and no one was available to help. We walked over to the far right side of the store and a Male employee was standing there and my girlfriend asked him where the make up was. His response was Over there is the cheap drug store make up over here is the prestige section. It seemed like because it was a cheaper product, he didnt want to help.We looked at shampoo for about 10 to 15 minutes and no one approached to see if we needed any help. I dont know if they need more employees or they are just lazy. Cashier was friendly.
I prefer shopping at Ulta online if only because I find the employees intimidating - not in a bad way, theyre all SUPER nice (especially at this location) but damn. Some of the makeup on them just makes me feel like a slug! The gentleman that works here... I applaud your work and Im jealous of your skills.
Overall I’ve always had a good experience at this location. My only complaint would be that is seems what I am looking for is often not on the shelves. It wasn’t until today I noticed that they keep extra product in the drawers below the displays and I found what I was looking for. It just seems that the staff should keep up with stocking the shelves of the Ulta brand makeup products in case people don’t notice the drawers below.
I will never shop at this location again, and after the experience I had with their overall customer service, I will never shop at an ULTA store every again. They absolutely butchered my hair. The stylist I dealt with did not listen to what I wanted, and Im guessing, didnt really take in any of the photos I showed her because she cut my hair a good six inches shorter than I had wanted. She made her own decisions about how to cut my hair, ignoring my wishes completely. My hair is choppy and uneven, and the color I paid for is a joke. Its just as uneven as the cut. I have never had a worse hair experience in my life!! After complaining, I was essentially given the run around and never truly taken care of. They just dropped the ball completely. Ulta shouldnt have a salon, and really could benefit from learning how to deal with unsatisfied customers. I agree with the person who described Ulta as the Walmart of cosmetic stores. The only difference being that theyre not cheap. Save yourself the money, the stress and the time and do not go to this salon!!
I shop at both Ulta and Sephora, and like each place for different reasons. But, I must say my most recent experience on Easter Sunday was truly devastating. I asked a girl with short hair and tattoos, where something was and if she could help me find it, she was quite rude with a rather pompous attitude. The checkout was no different, except the employee seemed so aloof and not concerned with customer service. Every time I come into this store, theres never any products available and the employees are extremely rude, and quite frankly have no room to be disrespectful. Management there leaves a lot to be desired... Sephora will definitely be my go to cosmetic store from now on.
Few weeks ago, I stopped to get dipbrow recommendation whichever shade would suits me and this beauty advisor chose a shade he thought would look great and he chose a lighter dipbrow color, and he did not do such a great job in coloring my brows at all. So I gave him a chance and trust his advice and purchased that shade went home and tried it on myself and unfortunately I wasnt so happy with it.. Anyways.. I love ulta beauty overall. Their points system is amazing!!! I prefer Ulta beauty than Sephora. On a side note please get MAC Makeup in this Amherst location!!Also, I scheduled a makeup session for my prom last month, and I was not completely happy with my overall look. Their makeup on my eyes wasnt so blendable, and its super light. The pricing are cheap but, its not worthy and NOT great I was hoping it to be.
Shame on you Ulta!!! How do you resell an Epilator as BRAND NEW after it was USED and returned with hair still in it?? To top off how DISGUSTING this is, when my wife tried to return it to the store she was given attitude from the salesperson when trying to explain her frustration!! Shame on you Ulta!!! You’ve lost us as customers from now!!!
I’ma huge believer of shopping in-store versus online- that being said, I’ve attempted to give The ulta store in Amherst my business many times. Each time I’ve entered the store, it’s clean, and well stocked but I end up wandering and leaving with nothing because there is no one that offers you help- unless you’re in the benefit section. I went in search of help and found them- 3 of them including a manager all huddled behind the register counter. I asked one of the employees if a brand offered a certain item and she responded with “I don’t know, you’ll have to look online” -customer service at its best. I then asked about the free gift that is offered with my purchase- she didn’t know-she asked a manager. The manager said yes, but they only had one option left. WRONG at the other end of the store was an entire display of the free gifts with the option I wanted- don’t you know what is in your store? I just left annoyed- as I almost always do there. So sad- beautiful store, great location- poor customer service.
I love ulta but every time I come in the store the associates treat me like I am about to steal and like I cant afford anything in the store. It’s the only store in the area so that’s why I go there. Today was my breaking point with the store. Me and my sister were looking at the Anastasia eyebrow pencils and two workers cut in front of us. They did not excuse themselves, they were grabbing boxes of pencils when we were clearly looking at the products. After the workers left, we were there for a while trying to decide what to get and calm down our two children. My sister bent down to select a few products, the store associate came back to get grab more products from above my sister. The store associate dropped a fist full of eyebrow pencil boxes on top of my sister. The store associate said “oh I’m sorry” in a nonapologetic voice and left. Then a few more of the store associates came out of no where asking do we need help, then just as we were about to answer no...the same two workers came back in front of the display. When my sister went to cash out the cashier slid my sister the bag, meanwhile the rest of the customers bags were given to them in their hands. I will NEVER return to the store. The women in this store need to re-evaluate their thinking and stop treating people based off of stereotypes.
I like this place. But I cannot give 5 stars as I think the prices here are overly expensive. If youre going to shop here then you must cherry pick the store and shop here only when theres an item on sale.One more thing...this is holiday time. I was here yesterday looking only to purchase a gift certificate. The store needs to have a register selling gift certificates only. That way you can be out like a hot knife thru butter. Okay...go and enjoy your retail therapy.
One of the male staff was snippy when I asked a question. Some prices are not posted, and I found out at the register they wanted to charge $18 for a Cover Girl concealer. Um, NO!! Bad enough that Mario Badescu drying lotion is now $17 for a 1 oz. bottle. And the same C.G. concealer is around $12 at any other store around. Cringe..!!
Iwona does my hair in the salon. Her eye for color is amazing. Her blow outs and styling are the best. And she’s so precise with her cuts. Julia does my facials and body waxing. Her massage is amazing and her product knowledge is out of this world. She always knows exactly what to do for my skin. And Julia has also done my makeup before. It was so beautiful I didn’t want to take it off at the end of the night.
Decently large Ulta. The staff is friendly. Its nice that they also have a salon in store. The down side is that the samples on display are always kinda nasty and it can be hard to find cotton pads to wipe off your hand after swatching. They also have a very large selection of body and hair products.
Couldnt wait to give a great review of this place. It was my daughters birthday and was so happy to schedule her for a new and wonderful experience. Alas, nope. Ulta had two people that said thet were working. I think that means standing and talking to each other. Both were booked up for the day, said they called and left a message that a stylist called in.Ok,,, at least compensate me somehow for coming down there to find out I get to disappoint my kid on her day. Give her a free sample of something, convince me somehow your place is worthy of another try down the line. Alas, nope. So now Ulta doesnt get our business, Sephora will be our go to.
I was not impressed with the service. No one was available to offer assistance and when I found someone to ask for help, she seemed busy and bothered. I assume there may not have been enough staff however the store was not busy. The item I was looking for was sold out (not the staff or stores fault) but when I asked, she was unhelpful with letting me know when to check back or offering something similar.
The only nice associates you’ll get here are the seasonal ones who try to actually be friendly to you! The lines are always huge! And you can tell they’re kind of racist/judgey if your not a white blond.They’re rude if your returning or want to redeem points/have questions about your point status. And they never have the free gift your supposed to get if you have let’s say a birthday coupon. You will not find an associate on the floor to help you, you have to go to the register to ask (and once you do that, they don’t even try and say, OH we don’t have it!)The salon people WOW let’s just say, PLEASE don’t go up to random women and just automatically touch and grab their hair and say they should get their hair done by you! Not everyone wants their hair touched by a random person! You would NOT have been able to get away with that in New York City Smh😒
Every time I come to this store they never have anything I come in for. Spent 30 minutes in prestige and now one single employee asked if I needed assistance. At check out the cashier didnt greet me just stood there staring at me. Never spoke to me until I told her I was a rewards member and she asked for my phone number. Super let down compared to my home store in victor.
This is the first and only ulta ive been to. Staff helped me pick out most of the products for my own wedding makeup. I accidentally came in 15 minutes before close but staff did not pressure or rush me. Despite owning a lot of makeup I dont often wear it as i have very pale and sensitive skin prone to dryness, hives, and allergies . An employee picked me out a foundation and lipstick so prefect ive been wearing them almost daily for 2 months with no reaction. Im blown away by my experience here and will be back when i run out of this product.
Ive been in this store several times and every time I leave Im frustrated. I can never find what I need there is so much products, which I guess is a good thing they have so many options but no one is ever there help you. On the rare occasion they are they are rude. Cashiers act like all they want to do is get you out of there as fast as they can. I wanted to try out their Brow Bar, checked the website and I can make an appointment for every service EXCEPT the Brow Bar and it states no appointment necessary. I go in and it takes me forever to find someone. Finally get to someone and they say they have no appointments available and I would need to make one for another day. I guess thats my fault for actually believing you wouldnt need an appointment even though they clearly state it on the site. Soooo...The only plus is they have plenty of products, if you can find what your looking for.
OK so I went in with my sister last minute to go to get an Anastasia eyebrow brush for her for Christmas. I was in baggy clothes in a big coat with a lot of pockets which I guess made me look suspicious? I had the same employees keep coming asking rudely “did you find what you came in here for?”, “do you need any help finding something?” “Are you done finding what u came here for?”, and I kept saying “I have it. I have it.”& “im fine thank you”. I was watching also swatching stuff because I wanted to get the new prism pallet but they kept coming over and asking me and my sister if we were done shopping and that was annoying so i just left with the brush. It was no where near closing time & I observed that we were the only colored ones in the store, I promise just saying.
Terrible customer service. Not happy on how the manager handled things when I tried to return something for an exchange --which was their mistake in the first place. She was rude and lied to my face and told me that they dont have that product, lo and behold when she opened the drawers, they did have it. I always shop here and I am platinum member but after today, they have lost a customer. Not shopping at this Ulta again.
Stopped in to have my eyebrows done. No one was at the brow bar. When I finally tracked down an associate and asked she pulled out an appointment book and said they had no appointment until 3 days later. The page of the book she was looking at for that day was totally blank with no one scheduled. I left the store without buying anything and will never go back.
Rude cashiers!! Even though the store has a lot of great products, the customer service is so horrible that its not worth the aggravation.The cashiers were very snobby and acted as if they had better things to do than cash out customers. As I left, I thought, Nope, I wont be going back.
The rude strawberry blonde woman ( I wish I knew her name) treated me and my sister like we were stealing from the second we walked in and didnt help us find things when we asked. Youd think somebody who works at ulta would recognise when girls are looking for makeup. I wont be going to this ulta ever again.
Been coming to Iwona at ULTA for a while now and love everything she does. But when I brought my daughter in for a prom updo, Iwona totally outdid herself. She captured the inspiration pic perfectly. And my 17 year old daughter was tickled to death. On top of that, John did her makeup in a very natural look that pleased both daughter and parents. She received compliments all night on her hair and makeup. Thank you Iwona and John for making my daughters first prom unforgettable! You are both so talented! You are lucky to have them, ULTA!
When you are not satisfied and unhappy because of the job was done is not right and like you asked and wanted a cimpany like ulta has either to fix this problem or to refund you your money .But the problem they wanted to charge you again although their fault and the job was not done righy .

2022-04-14I met Rachel M in the store while looking for a hair product. She impressed me with her passion and knowledge of hair. Which led me to make an appointment to have my hair colored for the first time. To say I am satisfied is an understatement! I was/ am blown away with the finial product!! She explained every step she was doing and made me feel VERY confident in her abilities. Rachel is beyond personable and personifies professionalism!! If you want a great cut and color, meet Rachel! She will make your hair dreams come true!!!!!

2022-06-04Went there today looking for Lancomes shade correctors. It wasnt in stock so a female employee brought me over to another employee who she thought could help. He wanted to put makeup on my face and I told him I wasnt comfortable with that because everyone uses the concealers with the swabs on their skin. I told him he could put it on my wrist. He was frustrated but complied then asked if I used eye creams, because otherwise the Nars concealer would look splotchy. I had told him no, and he began to berate me for not creating an even base to let this expensive product shine. I tried asking him about the undertones but he started in about how it wouldnt matter anyways because I dont wear eye cream. He then muttered I cant even help her because she wont let me put it on correctly anyways. I had a product in my hand that I had picked up before I even spoke with him, I decided to put it back and leave. That was the most horrible, uncomfortable situation Ive ever been put in. I dont want to go back because of it.

2022-03-17Safara Made The Difference and is an Epic Makeup Goddess.I wanted to take the time to sincerely thank this store and its staff for an excellent experience and introduction to makeup. I called this location around 4PM today to inquire about scheduling an appointment for guidance on finding the right foundation shade in Fenty as well as getting a recommendation for a daily skincare routine.The manager India was the one that responded and was fantastic. She listened to what I wanted to come in for, explained the company policy on application of makeup due to covid and suggested times I could come in today or tomorrow to talk with their staff. I opted to arrive at 5:30PM after work and despite the busy store was greeted almost immediately by India who remembered my name and took me over to Safara for help in finding the right products.Honestly, I dont want the rest of this review to seem to mushy so Id first like to say Safara is absolutely one of the most fantastic people Ive met in a store ever. I was dying of nervousness trying to find makeup but she was really patient, continuously offered new shades to try and didnt mind the fact that I was taking a significant portion of her time. She walked me through at least 4 Fenty shades until I found the one that magically just blended!!!!! (385 woo!) She also helped me learn what order to apply the makeups and offered a great color corrector and setting powder as well!This process had to take at least 30 minutes, so by the end of it I was pretty much ready to stop taking up all her time and just leave with the makeup, but she remembered that I wanted a skin care routine and helped me pick out an amazing set of products that work for my schedule and budget. Honestly, this woman is epic.She made me feel completely welcome during this process and provided a lot of good education along with her recommendations on the proper way to use the products. We got to the end with picking a good daily lip balm and I honestly felt like crying. I was just so grateful and relieved for the time she had spent with me but I didnt want to be the weirdo crying so I just told her thank you and paid.I really really want to say it here though, Safara made the difference. I have incredible anxiety when it comes to makeup since its not my forte but I want to try and get better at it. I came in anxious and unsure and left confident all because of Safaras help and guidance.Seriously, what an amazing trip. I had been to other makeup stores in the area but never had an experience like this. Ulta, thank you for a wonderful first time to your stores and thank you India and Safara for being so kind and considerate to a stranger looking to gain more confidence in herself. You both are wonderful and greatly impacted me positively tonight.

2022-06-05Many items to choose from bit quite expensive. When attempting buy an item, it rang up $10 more than the shelf price. I took the cashier to the place I found it, showed her that there were others of the same on the shelf, and she said it wasnt marked correctly. She would not give me the item at the listed price. Did not purchase.

2022-01-19I came in on January 19, 2022, I entered the store to buy one thing, but end up looking around for some products. After 10 mins in the store looking at different products, an employee came up to me asking if I need assistance. I politely declined because I was just looking around. Then few minutes later another employee came in the aisle that I was in and stood there for about 3 minutes making me extremely uncomfortable. I was uncomfortable to the point I left what I was looking at and went to another aisle in hopes that I was not being watched. Then a few seconds later an employee came to the same aisle I was in and I just decided to get the products I have due to feeling profiled. When checking out with the cashier, Carly and I explained my complain, she disregard it and told me “if I complain, they might give me something free”. I was not concern with getting something but more concern with being profiled. This was an uncomfortable situation and I felt I was treated as a thief which I am not. I am a highly educated young woman.

2022-03-07Beware of the salon services. I was given highlights by a stylist with no experience and they came out terrible. I looked like I highlighted my own head it was so ridiculous. I was charged $155 for my service. I was able to go back the next day for a free correction. Only cost me an entire Sunday and $75 for a baby sitter. I later found out that they were about to give me another stylist that is not very well skilled in balyage highlights but at the last minute I ended up with someone qualified. I would not recommend going there for color. Id also like to add that I did address my concerns with the store management and filed a complaint with their internal team. I requested a refund because of all the stress and having to go back for a 5 hour correction. Its one thing if I decide I dont like the highlights that were done properly but for highlights this terrible, a refund is warranted. Ulta was unwilling to own up to their mistake. They said they would not provide a refund since I went back for a correction. Hey, ULTA- A customer should not have to walk out with ridiculous hair and go back for a correction! Not sure if I will even be shopping with them anymore after all of this.

2021-10-22Huge array of choices, however I could not find my catwalk hair mask. The girl was wonderful, tried to help me, and then went to the computer, couldnt find it in their inventory, so looked it up on regular internet and found it. The place is amazing. I want to work there. I was in cosmetics for years. I would do a great job.
