Unique in other cities:
We recently dined at Unique, the new Asian fusion restaurant on West 207th Street near Broadway. The food is delicious, flavorful and unique. The service couldn’t have been nicer. This was my second visit. We ordered the mango salad. As fresh and good as I’ve ever had. They toned down the heat to accommodate my wife’s preference for milder food. We also ordered steamed dumplings. Tender pillows of pork, ginger, garlic and cilantro. A scallop ceviche. Fresh, tender, we drank the tiger milk when finished. That good. Then we had some fall off the bone pork shoulder served with a delicate broth and jasmine rice. We ordered ginger rice as well. Quite tasty. Dessert was a treat. A black rice served with coconut and a small Thai custard (on the House). Plus a Pellegrino Limonata and a large seltzer. Total bill: $54.On a return visit we tried the corn cakes (inexpensive appetizer...simple, sublime) and the lamb chops. Both were excellent. No alcohol. Please visit. I’d like to see themThrive.
Wow! This is a remarkable restaurant! All 5 stars for food, service, decor and atmosphere. Attention to detail is present on all levels. But the food is what you go there for. Healthy and delicious. I totally enjoyed the crispy chicken with ginger rice my first time here. Do not hesitate to come!
I never had a lambchop this good. It has a twist of Thai flavor to it, very unique. I ordered it medium rare and the meat was succulent. Definitely going to try to make this at home. The atomsphere is cozy and relaxing, looking at the busy street outside almost feel like time slows down. Its a hidden jewel in this area.
This beautiful new restaurant is such a delicious gift to the neighborhood. I enjoyed several appetizers along with the Beef Massaman Curry, one of the Thai chef’s trademark dishes. My unexpected favorite was the Shrimp & Chicken Toast! (It’s more complex in flavor than the name suggests! A gooey crispy treat that melts in your mouth.)The interior of this intimate restaurant is just lovely. It’s elegant yet comfortable. Great prices too!
The best thai food in Inwood. All of their ingredients are so fresh, they use so many delicious spices. Their food is always on point. They also have so much variety that there’s something for everyone. I never get bored of ordering from Unique. Not to mention that the staff is incredibly sweet.
What a treat! The sisters operating this restaurant couldn’t have been nicer and the food was delicious. We ordered the mango salad, the massaman curry, the green curry, and the lemon pie. The flavors were authentic and the ingredients were fresh. Support this local business!
Where to start?! Unique has a great menu full of options which will please anyone. I was so excited to find a place which has amazing flavors true to the quality of food in Thailand. The staff are such lovely people and they do a wonderful job of switching up the fun specials. Would absolutely recommend.
Absolute best, carefully chef selected Thai. The menu has delicious Dominican and American inspired fusion as well as brilliant flavors in more traditional dishes. 100 times better than other Thai restaurants in the area, seriously worth a trip. Also great Thai iced tea!
Amazing place, service was prompt and smiles all around! Wonderful and great tasting food by the chef! If you want a nice cozy meal with a date or solo with nice calm music and great ambiance then this is the place! If you like true spicy food, which seems rare in the area, then please try them out! Highly recommended!
Supremely underrated spot in Inwood. Its difficult to find a better noodle soup this far uptown. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and delicious. The kitchen/staff were a little disorganized the night we went but our sever was very apologetic and went out of their way to comp us a dessert to go. The folks here will treat you right.
Great food at a moderate price. Strongly suggest trying the appetizers. The shrimp rolls, mango salad, shrimp-chicken toast, all great. The food here has a lot of flavor without being overpowering or too sweet or too bland or too spicy, it has just the right amount of ingredients and tastes delicious. I had the pork shoulder for the main course and I look forward to trying everything else on the menu.
I was apprehensive at first when I looked at the menu because it was unlike any other Thai restaurant I had been to but once the appetizers and entrees came out my apprehension went away.Everything was on point. From the appetizers to the entrees. Just perfect. I liked the simplicity of the menu but the food itself was so complex and well layered. Really thought out by the chef. What an experience. Best Thai food I have had and trust me I have had a lot. Will definitely visit again!
I smile every time I eat their food. That chef is incredible. I’m going to try everything on the menu this year (except for shrimp) because I’m that curious and it’s always so good. I don’t live in the neighbourhood so I have to travel and worth it every time. I don’t write reviews.
Just left Unique Fusion and it was so great! The decor is really intimate yet modern and very comfortable. We ordered the pork dumplings which were really fresh and delicious, and we were given some samples of crispy shrimp that were fried in wonton wrappers. Yum. We also ordered a lychee iced tea which had real lychees in it. It was great. We also tasted an amazing spicy-sweet mango salad with pistachios and red onion. For our entrees we ordered Masaman curry- it was so flavorful with lots of tender beef. We also ordered green curry with salmon which was excellent. It was very complex and rich with exactly the right amount of spice (which could be adjusted). The owner came around and introduced herself to us as we were eating as well, and the waitress was so nice. My husband and I eat Asian food a lot and we know good Asian food. This is the best Asian fusion in Inwood/WaHi. We will definitely be back.
Wow! There are so many excellent restaurants in New York City, that the high level of quality often gets assumed. But wait until you go to the Unique Asian Fusion Restaurant. I believe this will become a name for the neighborhood to be associated with.Literally a place that is so good, you must try it. Every detail of this beautiful Inwood locale has been crafted with pride. The ambience is gentle and relaxing, and this locally owned gem is focused on happy customers.Creative dishes are gorgeously presented and the flavors are like opening surprise gifts. This outstanding food is served in my neighborhood at reasonable prices, in an attractive and casual atmosphere. When I want to impress family and friends, Ill bring them here.I was with a group and was able to try many dishes. The shrimp and chicken toast was beyond my expectations, as was the entire meal. But this appetizer is more complex then its simple name. A wonderful combination of seasoned shrimp and chicken topped with sesame seeds and toasted. The mango salad was also a hit. As with everything, the natural flavors are allowed to flourish. Everything tastes natural and true, and is prepared with the innovation of an artist. The mango salad was fresh and flavorful.Another must is the pork shoulder with coconut rice. The meat was juicy and moist, and the sauce with pineapples was the prefect compliment. The desserts were delightful. Again, the dishes found their strengths in the natural flavors and preparation. The lemon pie was full of life, and I could have eaten a plate of the crust alone. And the crème brûlée was the best Ive ever had.Amazing! Few restaurants give me the confidence that I would enjoy everything from the menu. But I do believe that Ill go back often and will eventually try the full menu. Outstanding food created by a talented chef that is easily called an artist.

2021-11-19Let me start off by saying this place is amazing. The food is incredible, the sisters who own this place (one chef, one hostess) are absolutely geniuses with food and hospitality. My girlfriend and I have come here about 5 times over 3 months and we can’t get enough. If you’re looking for good Thai Food, this is DEFINITELY the place.

2021-08-23Amazing food, we came up from Hell’s Kitchen to try this spot and it was well worth it. This is probably the best Thai food we’ve had in NYC, everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We got the garlic beef with their ginger rice. The rice is the most incredible rice I’ve ever had. I can’t get over it. Also got drunken noodles with tofu which were also great. The noodles tasted very fresh.Spices were on the milder side, so if you usually go for medium spice, you can probably bear hot here.Four stars only because the portions felt a touch smaller than competitors but everything was great. We will be back!

2022-07-20Excellent. Very chilled out vibe. Seem to have a robust takeout business so the restaurant wasn’t crowded.Food extremely good. Mixture of Thai food and more fusion dishes (lamb with oyster sauce). Portions were just right for us (we’re smaller eaters who like to get more variety). Particularly liked the scallop ceviche and the mango salad (which had softer sweeter mangos than normal). No alcohol (plus for us but YMMV).
