United States Postal Service in other cities:
Not sure why people are hating on this PO. It’s my favorite one in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Everyone is really nice, they play good music, and are very helpful. The line is never too long unless it’s around lunch or tax season. 5 stars for the USPS postal workersWho work at this location :)
This United States Postal Service location also known as the United States Post Office , has a really bad reputation of having absolutely horrible, terrible, mean, and untrained employees in the field of customer service. They are rude to customers and need to learn to be a little more helpful, maybe the U.s. postal service also know as USPS can spend some of their profits on some new training regimines. This location is the first address on Whitehall St. And you can get here from the Staten Island Ferry, the R train to Whitehall St, the 4 or 5 trains to Bowling Green, the J and Z lines to Broad St, and 1 train to South Ferry.
Absolute worst service ever in 40 years as a customer of US Postal Service. Rude would be a polite description. More like sadistic. I was trying to mail my mothers will,to her home state and I had the nerve ro ask the clerk for a couple of inches of extra tape to seal the envelope that I had just picked up from the nearby surrogates court. The clerk refused and then picked up the envelope and started slicng througb it with a scissor to remove the stamp she had put on, preferring to do that than give me, or even sell me, extra sealing tape. My mother had just recently died, and I will never forgive this arrogant young woman for the unnecessary pain she so arrogantly caused me by insulting me then making a whole big show of it by laughing while she cut my mothers will envelope. Her supervisor was worse rhan uselesa, obviously intimidated by this juvenile bully. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a U S Post Office, an institution I had always supported and respected..To make things worse, she loudly kept telling me how much she didnt care when I asked to see her supervisor, not once but several times. I just hope that she is never treated like she treated me during a time of grief. If she is, it will be justice served.
Rude staff who insult customers and refuse to help. Lady didnt want to get out of her chair to retrieve an item (that I paid for online) from a different window. She told me that they didnt have the item. I told her I could see it in the other window. She then looked, and told me that they didnt have it. I asked a different employee and she handed it to the lady helping me. Basically she didnt want to get up from her chair. Afterwards she refused to let me use a label cover to put my label on the priority mail package and said I had to use scotch tape, but I should have done that before I got there......yet I had to get the package from the counter at the post office, so it would have been impossible to do it before I got there.TLDR: Rude customer service, lazy staff, and more expensive than FedEx or UPS.
I cannot give them zero stars but I would. Extremely rudeness one of the person. USPS person forced me to stand in the line twice. First time just to get a custom form (they do not have all the forms on the back / description of the forms). At end I was recommended do not come anymore here and find another location
So Rude and unhelpful they rush you out, pick and choose who they want to be nice to and unfortunately I wasnt one of them. Beware of Cynthia very nasty. I have no idea why people choose an occupation to work for humans if you are going to be nasty and miserable just LEAVE !
🇺🇸 🗽 🇺🇸 Happy 🌺 🌼 🌹 Spring ⚘ 🌸 🌻 2021 🍀 🏵 🌼 🇺🇸 🗽 🇺🇸This United States Post Office located in the financial district of lower Manhattan in New York City is 1 of the cleaned and most tidy of Post Offices that o have been to around the world. The Covid-19 aka CoronaVirus Pandemic could have had something to do with it being the state it was.It occupies a corner site which is quite noticeable when walking. It is right in the heart of Wall Street itself, the Staten Island Ferry is a few blocks south, Chinatown is a few blocks north west, the ferry to and from the Statue of Liberty is a few blocks west, and then tons of historical stuff all around.
Had a miserable experience at this post office. The associate there CJ Agosto was extremely unprofessional. Shelves were unstocked with envelopes and she gave me an attitude about why I was asking for one at her desk. Upon asking her for tape to affix my prepaid label, she told me to go away until I found some. Sad to see this is how USPS treats military veterans.
If you dont want to do your job with a smile, why are you working there. There are many unemployed people who need a job. I cant stand people who are rude and not helpful when working in a customer service related job. Also why am I being forced to sign the back of my credit card? I provided my ID isnt that enough????
I paid for Priority express international shipping ($70+)and the staff wont even tape my box.. Forced me to purchase a roll of tape otherwise they dont serve you..I used to live in NJ and the USPS there are way better, staff really care about you and use common sense.. They have the white tape with Priority express logo on it and let me use for free.

2022-03-21This post office has the kindest, friendliest staff and Leslie, who processed 54 very fragile and delicate Save the Dates for my upcoming wedding is A LITERAL GEM! They walked me through the process and always had a kind word or some humor to share. I almost didnt want to post this since I dont want word to get out about how great this place is.

2022-03-18Very kind customer service and very2 helpful.I always go to this location and never have any issue, not event once. I don’t know why some people have bad outrageous review to our kind postal workers. They themselves may be the ones who don’t know how to behave and get along with other people. 🙏

2021-06-09Ive had experiences with various USPS offices throughout the city (mainly from Midtown down). This location is the best one by far. The staff are super friendly and spread positive energy that just brightens the experience! The stigma of USPS office visits being like a DMV one is finally gone for me. Thank you ladies and gents of the USPS Whitehall location :)

2021-06-30It’s always a good experience coming here. The staff are so nice and many times show you a smile. Big enough place and organize. There is some self service options and they offer drop off services too. Great Staffs, always willing to help.

2020-01-30Frequent visitor here. Is there usually a line? Yes. But they do try to accommodate. There is usually someone offering to take your packages that need to be dropped off or sell you stamps off their portable machine. Sometimes it does seem like people forget about things you ask for, but Ive never had rude service here. If youre nice to them, theyre usually nice to you.

2020-01-23I waited in line yesterday when a worker there asked if I was just “ dropping off “ that was around 1:30 pm. I handed her my two packages and asked her if the package would still track online. She told me yes. It’s 24 hours later the package has not tracked to someone I sold something to online. I just lost hundreds of dollars by trusting that my packages would be secure.

2017-04-14I was expecting to leave crying, but I had to go do it gritted my teeth and went. And was pleasantly surprised. The line was long and slow because there were only two clerks working, but thats not the clerks fault, and one of them got another person to star working. Pretty much everyone had some kind of issue--needing to do certified mail paperwork, being from another country and neither speaking English nor having enough money, etc. yet the staff were calm and friendly and helpful, and they got the job done. So dont go during lunchtime, and dont expect to be in and out. But given he resources they had, I thought the staff had notable grace about their jobs.

2018-07-18The music here is very good (usually disco, sometimes pop), and the staff is very friendly. This is the only post office I go out of my way to go to if I want to elevate my mood. I know this might read like sarcasm when compared to the other reviews, but seriously, most post offices are horrible. Ive been here 4 times, and it was pleasant every time. Its usually empty if you go as soon as they open, or after around 1:30/2p.

2018-12-04I always go here to ship out packages and never had an issue until the woman with the short blonde hair refused to scan my package because she claimed the box did not match the label. This isn’t my 1st or 2nd or 3rd time, I explained to her that I’ve been doing this for about a year and I’m pretty sure it was correct. She was very rude and not helpful at all.I ended up going to another post office and got serviced a lot better.
