United States Postal Service in other cities:
Why have the self shipped machines always never work! If they are not working kindly place a notice on the machines. Post office open at 9am but the post office worker kindly came out and helped shipped my package. He did see the all machines were not functioning. He assisted me in shipping my package manually. Very helpful! Mind you these machine do not work properly and the post office do not care about the issue.
Incompetent, unintelligent, and unkind.1. Incompetent: I got a call from a postal supervisor, informing me that my package could not be delivered because the postal worker couldnt read the floor number. However, theyd hold it at the post office for me to pick up *today before 5:30pm*. I came at 4:30pm to be safe. I spoke to one woman who merely looked through the packages at her own individual register, and told me it wasnt there. I spoke to a supervisor who said its probably in the Registered Mail room, but the room (for some reason) was locked. She suggested I come back on Monday. I spoke to a third man who asked me all of the same questions Id already answered, and then mumbled that I should just come back next week because he didnt know where my package was. When I insisted that he take another look (hey, you guys called me to say that my package is here), he got a little belligerent. He said something about his supervisor getting mad at me for being so persistent. I spoke to ANOTHER supervisor who YELLED AT ME for wasting the time of her staff!!! She said very clearly that the package is not here, and that Id have to file a claim with USPS. And then finally a 5th employee finally appeared with my package. 45 minutes of pure incompetence and laziness.2. Unintelligent: How many people does it really take to look up a unique tracking number, identify the location in which the respective item is being held, and retrieve it? Furthermore, when we are frustrated that processes have broken down, do we really resort to yelling at people? Really?3. Unkind: I mentioned the yelling. Implied in the other details of this saga is the unnecessary rudeness of several lazy employees. At the end, I thanked the woman who brought out my package, but she ROLLED HER EYES at me. Not only do I not get an apology for all the hassle (or for the inaccuracy of their insistent position that my package wasnt here), but when I said thank you, I get an eye roll.Un. Believable.
This was my post office for two years, and it was the worst Ive ever experienced. On a regular basis, packages were not delivered, though were marked as delivered. When I would call, all I would be told is that the tracking information says it is delivered, so we cant help you. The attitudes of the employees are terrible, and it doesnt seem like anyone actually gives a damn about trying to help. In fairness, Ive personally seen customers treat employees horribly and yell in their face for things beyond their control, so maybe thats why they dont care and arent friendly. My main complaint is that the packages were never delivered or were delivered many days after they marked them as delivered.
Employees with incredibly rude attitude. I was turned away for repurposing packaging from another carrier (as most people do these days in effort to be environmentally friendly). Not only did they not properly articulate the reason why, the condescending manner in which they spoke to me was appalling to say the least.
My package was delivered and left with an individual - but no one at my office received this package. There was no name left so who knows who this individual is. No that I am calling the post office and going through this archaic voice prompt system , i have just been informed that the wait time is greater than ....... 1 HOUR !!!!! Customer service at its finest.
Have spent more hours fighting to get service from this particular post office than any other business in my life. This place and many of the people who work there are an absolute DISGRACE. The saddest part is that after hours and hours of phone calls and emails to higher-up USPS management and consumer affairs offices, nothing gets done.If you try to call them and you expect someone to answer, they wont.If they do pick up and promise to return your call, they wont.If they promise to re-deliver your package, they wont.If you are coming here to pick up a package, expect to wait at least an hour (maybe even two), and when you finally get served do not have the false assumption that they actually will have your package.Avoid at all costs.
I wish there was an option to leave zero stars. My package was supposed to be delivered on March 7. Tracking indicates a delivery notice was left at 5:11PM that day, but we were here until 6pm and no delivery notice was left at all. I scheduled redelivery for March 13. It still didnt come. No notice. I called to speak with someone there to see if they could figure out what was happening, and I spoke to the rudest woman, who refused to tell me her name, and then when I went to look up my tracking number, within 5 seconds she places me on hold. Ive been on hold for 50 minutes at this point and it doesnt seem like shes ever coming back. If the USPS was a real business, it would be out of business SO fast. Whatever tax dollars are paying this woman or are keeping this location open are a complete waste.
I am disgusted by this place. I called for some information and the Customer Service Representative was so disrespectful. I called that location just to verify some information. The woman was so rude. When I asked if she had the contact information to where my item might be held, her response with the most nastiest attitude was Google it! then she disconnected the call, without knowing if I had any additional questions. Me being who I am, I called back and I told her, if you dont like your job, dont work there. I told her it was rude that she disconnected the call without seeing if I had any additional concerns or questions. She disconnected again. I called back and told her I would be waiting for her outside at 5:30pm. When I arrived, she was no where to be found.
OMG this must be the only post office I’ve ever seen that has a concierge. A man in the lobby asked me what I needed which was prepaid packages scanned. My own post office gives me a hard time but this gentleman scanned my packages with his phone and printed up a receipt from his phone as well. It’s almost worth taking the train from Brooklyn just to get my shipping done.
Terrible. Claimed to attempt to deliver my package while I was home (2 times in one day) which never happened. I tried to call to get my package and they dont respond. I go into the post office, the cant find my item. They basically lost it, and said that I needed to call in the morning so its not loaded on the truck. Why is it loaded on the truck if its not coming to my place, and no one is attempting to deliver. The employees inside are mostly rude as well. They are slow and act like doing their job is such a hassle.
Extremely rude staff. No patience, very condescending. Its yes or no with them and alternatives arent an option. If you arent perfectly ready to go with your package with everything, you better expect youll be getting back to the back of the line.I dont care if you dont smile at me, I dont care if youre honest, but the ratchet snap backs of the staff are not welcome. So rude, so unhelpful. This is after my 4th time having issues with staff, wait, and drop off here.
These hard working people are always helpful and efficient. It is my favorite NYC post office, partly because its closest. But also because there is always someone in the lobby when its busy, to help people navigate to the right line and answer inane questions. Yeah, they can be kind of gruff or may seem tired... I would too if I had to deal with all the stress of working there. Hugs. ❤️❤️
The rudest people I have ever had to deal with. They must really hate their jobs. They act like they do you a favor by even taking your call. I needed to change an address of a parcel and 25 minutes of shouting coming from the post office representative he finally got it done. So rude. These people should be fired and replaced by people who actually want to work and do their job!
Wish I could give them no stars. Called to see where my package was at due to the fact it was past office hours and had been out for delivery since 7am that morning. They told me over the phone rudely it will get there when it gets there, ok. And this is not the first time this has happened, can count multiple occasions this has happened. No customer service, rude employees, deliveries are never on time, never ask for signatures when they come to the office, just hand over an attempt slip when they never attempted. The WORST. Happy these government employees care nothing about there jobs, they surely dont hide they cant get fired.Duly noted, will not be paying extra for speedy delivery for it will NEVER come on time from this office.
Do not go to this post office. The line ups are insanely long- on average a 20-30 min wait. The staffs work incredibly slow and they are ridiculously rude. They will snap at a customer when asked a reasonable question. Been to this post office over 5 times and never had a good experience. I highly suggest you walk 5 blocks down to the usps in penn station- it will save you more time. No one enjoys waiting 20+ mins to get treated with so much attitude. The staff here does not understand what customer service means.
I come here a lot, and have never had a good experience. Been here twice this week and both times I’ve seen clerks tell customers that “they don’t want to deal with them and go to another booth”. Both times I have also heard these clerks talk trash about the customers right to there face, I get were in NYC but usps is still supposed to be a business. Also all of the clerks tell you different information.Do not go to this location if you have another option.
If I could give this location ZERO stars I would. They were supposed to redeliver a package on Tuesday and that did not happen. I called USPS and they assured me my package was at this location. I explained to them that if I get there and my package is out for delivery thats going to be very upsetting. I got there, I waited for 15 minutes while the woman literally moved at a glacial pace looking for someone elses package. Finally, my turn I write my tracking number down and some of the womans co-workers come down and start chatting it up with her.........I tried to be patient. Finally she crawls to look for my package and what do you know? ITS ON THE TRUCK FOR REDELIVERY. I asked her if the man could just leave the package on the 18th fl where I worked if the package was delivered after business hours and she said shed have to ask her supervisor. 10 minutes of waiting for this I finally just walked out. Im leaving to go out of the country tomorrow and needed this package. Absolutely ridiculous. Mind you, this was priority mail too. Biggest waste of government money.
Packages are super delayed. even if tracking says delivered monday. its already thursday and my package is still not with me. they told me i cannot speak to them, only my Companys mailroom staff whom i already spoken to. if its delivered on that day, it should be delivered at least on that day or latest the following day!!!
I always try to have packages delivered to my workplace and this post office happens to be the one that delivers packages to my office. Several times I have had to track down my packages only to find out that they never really attempted to deliver the package, there was never a notice saying they would attempt to deliver again and finally just returning the package to the sender. All this while trying to call the actual post office to speak to someone and when after the phone has rung for about 15 times finally someone answers and says they cannot help me because the person who can help me has stepped outWhat a joke! no wonder theyre loosing money!
Worst post office in the United States. Clerks are misleading and trying to do unnecessarily things. Do not show basic human kindness and understanding. I do not understand how they even be at this job. It is a government job and it is not easy to get rid of those monsters. But they definitely should go away and replaced by normal people.
I stood in line for 45 minutes to send a simple package that was already prepared. When I finally arrived at the counter I was told that it did not have enough tape and my only option was to buy more tape from them. I told them I would take the risk but they wouldnt accept my package.
AVOID UNLESS YOU HAVE A SIMPLE TASK AVOID. By far, the most disorganized post office in manhattan from my experience so far. And the postmaster lady couldnt care less.I was waiting on the Passport line to send in my renewal application. The window labeled PASSPORTS was not being used and it had a piece of paper on it that said it was just for new passport applications. The window next (window 8) was being used and we thought these had to be, like most of us who started talking on the line, were getting renewals. Window 7 seemed to also be taking people from our line.On the line with me were mostly people looking to renew their passports. The line was barely moving. One person at window 8 took about 30 minutes. Some people trying to renew their application just gave up and left. Window 7 was taking some people from our Passport line and people from the main line. We didnt know what was going on.We thought that if we wait, somewhow they could simply make a money order, look over our passport renewal application, and let us mail it in. Oddly, this could not be accomplished. So after 45 minutes in the Passport line, the lady in window 8 said, no renewals. see the sign? I said, the sign for the window there? (that was NOT her window). She said she wouldnt help me even though she was taking other people from the same Passport line. Other people from our line seemed to be going to window 7 for some reason. She said that I had to wait on the main line. She said she was not going to make me a money order. Wait...New applications need money orders too. She would not let me go to window 7 like the others were. She wanted me to wait on a whole different line altoghther.I asked to speak to the post master and was told that shes at window 5. I went to window 5. She wasnt at window 5. After another wait, I called the post office and asked someone to send the post master to window 5. She finally came there and I spoke with her.I asked why they dont make money orders by the Passport area. She said no manpower. I told her there had to be some way to make the sign clearer that passport renewals wait on the regular line not the so-called passport line. And if you cant make money orders for some reason, shouldnt there be a sign that says no money orders in the passport area? The postmaster lady looked dumbfounded that there could be any improvement. It was really absurd. As I was leaving, I noticed that another person getting a passport renewal was getting help at window 7, which was next to the unhelpful passport window (which only services NEW applications for some unknown reason). When will the government privatize the post office? UPS could run it so much better. I left so dissapointed after being there for a whole hour, including trying to get the post master to recognize that the signage needs some improvement, and they should really let most people know that they need to be on the regular line. She said shell think about it.
The level of service is unreal at this post office. This has to be the worst post office of all. They treat customers like the enemy. When you ask a question, they act like they dont hear you and just ignore you. If this was a normal business, they would be out of business!! No wonder everyone hates post office.
Was supposed to get my package on Feb. 27th, its now March 4th. I had it delivered to my Business Address, they tried THREE TIMES after 6:30pm when the freight elevators are closed (didnt they get the hint?). I even went to the post office, and the woman said itd be delivered today before 6:00pm and guess what...it wasnt!! This is insane, they dont even answer their phones so I have no idea how to get my package.
Literally the worst customer service ever. Refuse to offer any help. The manager is the rudest person I have ever encountered in my entire life telling me he cannot help me. When he finally told me he would have the package delivered, it still never showed up. I will NEVER send another package through USPS ever again because of this absolutely terrible customer service.
Delivery notification - delivery attempted at 534 pm on Tuesday. Customer not available. Contact local post office.Thats NOT true as that is my place of business and someone was actually here til 7pm. And if you had tapped the door, it would have opened. Sooo I go to the post office today to attempt to get it (since no one has tried to deliver it since Tuesday), and the woman tells me its out for delivery today. And that my street is backed up on package delivery. And then she said, Ill be honest with you. It says its being delivered today or tomorrow. It probably wont get there today. And since tomorrow is Saturday and they know the business is closed, they will just wait and SAY they tried to deliver on Saturday. Then youll get a notification on Monday saying they attempted, so Im sure Ill see you again next week.PS it didnt come today.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE , workers are all rude I got into an argument with a worker because there is a separate window for passports. I asked one worker what time they opened that window he says “ there’s no set time & he doesn’t know”. I walked away & waiting for a manager manager tells me 10am it is 10:30. Another worker comes from the back & start getting into an argument with me asking why I’m askimg someone else the time that he just told me !!
The employees aren’t patient to people who don’t usually send mails. Make sure you know, if you have to use their services, there are cheaper envelopes with stamps hidden behind the counter and some of the envelopes comes with much higher service fee are out there with no instructions.
The WORST customer service. The employees are all very rude and the least helpful. Their attitudes show that they hate their job and dont want to be there. Really avoid this location if you can. I wish there was an option to give no stars. Cant express how terrible my experience was there and all I needed to do was mail an envelope first class to a domestic location.
Worst post office ever. Called to ask a question regarding a package and after the rude Spanish woman responded the question, she immediately hung up on me. When I called back to ask for further clarification she cut me off and told me to listen and to follow protocol and that they were busy doing other things. Wow. The worst customer service id ever experienced in my life. Everyone needs to be fired
That lady with full make up at window no.4 is the nastiest of all. She dont deserve to work there. I have like 10pages that needs verificaton and signature for certificate of mailing from my company which is already pre stamped and she said that she cant verify it because its too much. What a disgrace govt. employee. So i have to organize again and fall in line. Good thing Tanyka(last windowon the right) was very helpful, very nice and no complains at all. Avoid this window no. 4
I dont understand this business. I had a package delivered on a day my office was closed, no big deal. so then the tracking information says your package is being held at such and such post office, and when you go to pick it up they tell you, no its not here its on the truck it will be delivered again at some point. While I was at the post office trying to pick up my package that I was told was being held there, they were trying to deliver it to my office, which they were not able to for whatever stupid reason.
If this was possible to do so I WOULD NOT give any stars to this certain post-office. I called to check on a certain package that was held at their facility to see if the Package Intercept was cleared through and they would transfer it to the right USPS that it was supposed to go to. There is a rude B-I...you know the rest... of Spanish decent who loves to be slick at the mouth and had the nerve to say the she already told me the information so...Why are you calling??? In other words this wasnt the first time I called there. Then she hung on me. FOR REAL?!?!?!?!!! EXCUSE ME IF I WANT TO CHECK ON MY PACKAGE THAT IM DELIVERING THROUGH YOUR SERVICE!!!!!! HOW DOES SHE EVEN STILL HAVE THIS JOB???? IVE BEEN NOTHING BUT NICE TO THIS HEFFA (heifer) AND SHE STILL AINT!!!!!!!! This is the first time I EVER had any problems with customer service. You have no idea how pissed I was. Avoid this USPS like the plague.Jodrell W.P.S. I bet that woman looks just like how she sounded over the phone...UGLY...AS...F*%$!!!!!!!!!! And, I think I know why she acts so rude. She hasnt been getting any sausage in her life.
Is there a way to report a gov business... this USPS at the 38st between 7 and 8 ave location is so inefficient and not so good attitude! I have a package supposed to be delivery on friday and when i checked it, it said business close @ 11:30pm. WHAT CREATURE WORKS AT THE POST OFFICE?!! USPS doesnt even work that late. and i was in the office waiting for the package until 8pm.... THEN i went to the post office first thing on Monday to see if i can just pick it up myself and after trying to get someone attention at the window for a good 5 mins (which someone should have been), someone finally yelled out from the back do you need help? ... really? NO...i dont need help, i just enjoy yelling excuse me and hello for no reason in a post office for 5 mins in the morning!! the best part is, after all that, they just dont have any idea where the package is..... USPS....your slogan should be DONT KNOW & DONT CARE, WE ARE JUST TRYING TO GET BY, NOW GO AWAY, AND HAVE A NICE DAY!!
Sender put wrong address so I went there to pick up but they never let me take it. I gave them a driver license but they said We need to deliver first even if this is wrong address. If it is wrong we will call you So I leave my phone number, tracking number. Later when I check the status they deliver and the address is not exist. And then they returned it. I told them so many times about address is incorrect but they ignore me totally.
Joseph at the passport desk should develop some basic human kindness. Maybe he already has that skill, but he definitely doesnt use it at work. Joseph, its lot more rewarding going back home in the evening thinking you helped someone rather than thinking you made somebody miserable.
Extremely unprofessional staff— when I informed a worker that they were out of certified slips and I needed 5 or 10, the man told me “No you cannot have them. It’s people like you who come in here and take a whole stack and ruin it for everyone.” I thanked him for the lecture and got the hell out.
Worst then hated it the people are rude they leave you on hold before they even ask what my problem is. to only pick up the phone not say a thing and then put me back on hold. not answer the phone when i call back. then when i finally get an answer the person wants to have an attitude.
Wow if Deutsche Post would act as customer oriented as this USPS branch then it would be perfect. We wanted to send some postcards home and needed stamps for this, after a short waiting time of about 5 minutes we were served very friendly and quickly and the lady behind the counter often apologized for the waiting time.

2022-07-26I cant tell if these employees are malicious or just incompetent. I showed them the USPS stated regulations about the package I was sending concerning small lithium ion batteries. They kept ignoring the guidances and refused to ship my package.Throughout the interaction they were rude and kept raising their voices against me. Another employee was chatting with an old friend while a queue began to build up behind.AVOID IF POSSBLE

2022-08-10Today (8/10/2022) I visited the USPS location at 223 W 38Th St, New York, NY 10018. I originally had a passport appointment at the 42nd street location but their network was down and their sign advised to visit the 38th street location. I went to the 38th street location and asked the rep if they would honor my passport appt for my daughter. She said that she did not know and said she would check with her supervisor. This was at 9:15am.After waiting 45-min, the supervisor finally approached with a condescending and dismissive tone after I patiently waited for an answer. She then proceeded to tell me that they wouldn’t be able to honor my appointment. The only way they could assist me is if they had a cancellation. Relaying all this information in a rude and unprofessional tone. I understand that they couldn’t honor the appointment. Completely acceptable. But to be so dismissive after I waited patiently for 45-min is unacceptable. If the USPS is looking to encourage people to use their services, start by treating your customers with empathy and respect. It looks like I am not the first customer to have a bad experience at this location. And likely not the last given the poor leadership. Listen to your customers.

2022-03-29Supervisor Ms brown states that you need a drivers license and CREDIT CARD to cash a money order. This is false and was made up by her little mind. It’s usually two forms of id every where else. Ridiculous and silly since the credit card has no picture.

2022-01-19I cannot believe a government entity is allowed to be this bad. The employees are horrible that yell at everyone OVER MAIL. ITS MAIL. Without people accepting the mail, the Post Office goes bye bye. I have been going here for 8 years for my business and since Covid they have acted so disgusting and terrible. They are a complete joke and I wish there was someone in upper management who could help!

2018-03-28After a really horrible experience at another USPS location in Brooklyn, and reading someone’s comment about giving Manhattan a chance, I decided to come here and see if the experience will be any different. It actually was - and the young lady who attended to me made all the difference. She was really courteous and helpful, patiently explaining my mailing options and answering my questions. She extended the same courtesy to the lady before me, and she had way more questions than me. This does not invalidate all the bad experiences shared by other reviewers and I probably just got lucky this time around. But I think it’s important to give credit where it’s due and the 5 stars is really for the excellent service during my latest and so far only visit. If I came back and the experience was different, I’m more than willing to provide an update and change my rating.

2021-08-11Seeing all the 1 star reviews genuinely made me scared to go here but I had a really great experience today! It was very quiet and cool inside and I didn’t have to wait very long in line to be helped. Florence was super nice and easygoing and we had a brief but good conversation about the package I was trying to mail. She even answered a couple questions that felt kind of silly without making me feel bad about them. Would recommend if you’re in the west midtown area and need to ship stuff!!

2017-01-06As far as post offices go, its not the worst of them. Lines are usually long and slow, but there are plenty of self service kiosks. Trying to pick up a package from here is a nightmare.

2020-11-20I called to find out where my customers package is because the USPS Postal office missent it to the wrong zip code. And my customer send me an email. So I wanted to find out for myself. I did not get a name of person who answered the phone but the lady that picked up the phone was very very rude. All I said was “has the package left the facility” and her answer to me was “they already called, I already spoke to them, it is not your concern to call on her behalf” and hanged up the phone. WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THAT!!!
