United States Postal Service in other cities:
After waiting in line for an hour, I was told I had to use a different box. Frustrating but understandable. But, I had to tear off the address label I had attached to the old box. When I got back to the desk with the repackaged box, the employee told me she couldnt give me a pen to use to address the package and that Id have to go home, address the package, and come back. All while...wait for it... SHE WAS HOLDING A PEN.
I made an appointment to get the picture for the passport and not only the gate was closed. I had to call because no one will acknowledge the fact that I was standing there for 20 minutes, suddenly a lady started to say may I help you from behind the counter so everyone look because instead of approaching me or at least look at me she just kept saying may I help you. So I told her I had an appointment for the passport picture she told me the camera was broken, just like that, I said why didnt they say that on the website or at least a sign on the gate., Her response was there is no capability to do that on the website. Really a very unpleasant person, I really dont know how people like that get hired.
Terrible terrible terrible!!!! We showed up with our young kids to get their passport application processed and they cancelled our passport appointment without telling us!!! Husband took time off work to make it as both parents need to be there. They provided no support in finding a solution.
Disgusting service. About to call and complain now. Waited patiently in line and the staff member yelled out something like Ive called everyone who is in this area into here so why are you here? Which was bad enough. I answered that Im wanting to get a smaller parcel and she was rude for the entire exchange and got me one same size as I had and I said politely I need smaller size and then she yelled at me and said they are out in other area which Id just explained that size wasnt! Then she said well youll have to get back in line and wait because there are people in front of you and all she had to do was grab the smaller size right behind her. It was disgusting but also bizarre behaviour. I started to say I was fine to wait and that it was YOU who called me up and she yelled out take it down a notch. Usually Id get annoyed but I was so dismayed at just how bizarre and disgusting this person was acting that I just calmly just put the packet down on counter and said Im going to complain now and walked out. Never going to that post office again and calling to complain right now. Absolutely unacceptable.
Instead of leaving a poor review about the experience I had at a different post office, subsequently taking me to this location... I’m going to write this review. This location was appropriately staffed, with enough employees to handle the customers. The man who helped me was so friendly, personable and helpful. I honestly can see myself going out of my way to use this location in the future!
This office is usually staffed well, which makes the lines go faster and I appreciate that in any post office, as most are usually understaffed. I fund that if I go early in the morning, I can find the Flat Rate supplies I need but otherwise, theyre usually ran out of those. Extremely poor selection of other shipping, packing, mailing or decrative supplies but oh well. Staff is as friendly as Postal Service staff get, but not unfriendly so thats good. Overall its a fine place if you dont expect too much.
Dealt with a miserable female employee tonight and will avoid this location at all costs. I was next in line and seeing that she was the next available representative, I went to her - without bothering to say hello, she said, “did I say ‘next’?”. I apologized and requested a label for my package, which she gave to me while saying “this is the only time I’m going to do this”. I didn’t realize she was doing me a “favor” and wouldn’t have asked for one if I had known, but she offered no explanation as to why my request was so troubling to her and I still do not understand. Shocked, I took the label, walked away, and she screamed after me, “you’re welcome!”. I should’ve thanked her, but honestly I was at a loss for words after being treated so poorly.
This branch stays open later than most branches. Managers are almost non-existent but the veteran staffers are great and a pleasure to see. Do yourself a favor and pack whatever youre sending before you get there. Its the USPS not a UPS Store. They handle passports and box rentals as well.
I must admit, my relationship with this post office started off sour. I went to rent a PO Box and the lady was totally rude and wanted my arm and leg in order to rent a business PO Box, even though I had already checked what documentation I needed before I showed up. Luckily,a man came to the rescue and told her what I had was sufficient. Next, I didnt get my mail for weeks late, including a check I was waiting on... apparently they were confused by the business name and my personal name...same po box address... duh! Is it really that hard?. BUT, fast forward to 2015 and I love these guys! I send the majority of my online shopping orders to my po box and by signing up for the residential address (not sure if that is the technical term) UPS, Fed Ex, and any other carrier will deliver! Ive had everything from guitars, to shoes, to cosmetics shipped there. Size is no issue, but they do have a weight limit... I always try to have my tracking numbers ready and knowledge of what has been delivered, though, because sometimes they havent checked in an item that is actually already there. If you tell them (sometimes quite adamantly) how many packaged should be there, they will find them. At this point, Ive built a rapport with the workers, so I would say the relationship is on the up and up.
Delivered my package to the wrong address and after waiting a week for them to investigate and report back to me I had to contact them because I was tired of waiting, just to be told they cant recover the package. Now I call to speak to an employee for a different package and all they have is an automated system that couldnt help me. Horrible service. The saying is true, you pay for what you get. Its the cheapest mailing carrier so expect the poorest quality of service.
Customer Service is great but cant give this post office 5 stars because their delivery service is horrible!! They constantly lie about people not being home to make them go pick up their packages at the post office because the carriers are too lazy to deliver them. Whenever you request a redelivery its a hit or miss so don’t hold your breath waiting for your package because it all depends in what mood the carriers are to deliver your package that day. Amazon needs to stop using this service to deliver their packages because they’re doing a disservice to the customers & sellers as well. USPS has the WORST DELIVERY SERVICE!!! I wish we could attach photos to these reviews to show how a carrier left me a destroyed package in my mailbox with the item inside crushed. It looked like someone purposely stomped on it & manually ripped the package. Seems like the work of an angry belligerent carrier.
The woman stationed at the “what’s your priority” stand has the most unpleasant and condescending attitude. When you ask a question such as “I thought maybe there would be plastic sleeves for labels” she stared me down and said “you know better than that.” It goes on from there. I really wish there was a way to report just rudeness. So hint for next person - try not to require any help from the post office if you come here. Just drop off and get out.
Terrible customer service. They trick you to use the priority mail tap that is lying on the table. Then charge your package for priority mail class just because you have the tap on the box. Even though you wanted to send on regular mail, they would say it is too late unless you repackage it.
Have used this facility at least 10 times in the past 6 months. Always courteous, friendly staff. Yes, the lineup can get long, but thats a small issue, really. Always willing to help and give information. Really surprised at the negative reviews, I continue to find nothing to complain about.
I hate this location and only come here when Im shipping to a PO Box and so cant use the friendlier and more cost-effective FedEx on 72nd. This particular USPS is replete with unwritten rules delivered with trademark New York contempt and every time I have to go here I want to shoot myself.
I made a call to be certain I wouldnt take a trip to their location for nothing. The phone rang some 30+ times before someone answered it. The minute I spit out a fraction of what I needed help with she interrupted me with HOLD ON and then I waited another 2 min for someone rude to pick up for the phone to answer my questions as if I pulled them out of their vacation. Its amazing to me how entitled people with well paying jobs act when there are other people suffering to find work. This was just a phone call, I cant imagine being there in person, as most complaints have been made known here. I was still nice on the phone, I wasnt demanding answers, I simply asked what I needed and their answers were short and they had no customer service training or politeness in their voice (or bones). If you dont like or want your job, go elsewhere. Leave these customer service positions for people with better training and attitude. Everyone deserves respect, you dont have to be all sugar & rainbows...just dont treat others who are bringing business to you with an bad attitude.
I know people arent supposed to like the post office, but this is my least favorite branch in New York. Every time I go here, its a long wait, followed by a bracing interaction with unhelpful staff. Often you get to the window only to be sent to another line somewhere else. Im not sure theres a better option nearby, but if you can think of a way to avoid this place, you should.
I had a psycho lady that helped me. She was the rudest craziest person I have cone across in a long time. I spoke with Postmaster and he seemed to know this but she is still there and I will never step foot in that post office again. Postmaster should be ashamed for allowing such a rude person conduct business there
The male worker told me I cannot send a package under 13 oz by first class with a regular confirmation service when I used to do it all the time. I ship packages every other day. Cmon now! He made me pay $2.80 extra for certified mail receipt to send a first class package that contained a CD. Are you serious? Is that what they are doing now, make you buy confirmation for $2.80, instead of 70 c delivery confirmation? Pitiful!p.s. Attitude up the roof there too.
This is why all of these slugs will be without a job very soon and then have to go and deal with their own type of shitty customer service when they need something at another branch. No one takes responsibility there and they act like everyone is a nuisance when you ask them a simple question or need something done. Also, do they get paid by the hour? just wondering because they ALWAYS move like they are slightly paralyzed.
Theres always a long wait here and most staff arent very friendly. I try to avoid coming here as I had several bad experiences at this location. However, my recent visit here changed everything. One of the lady here was incredibly friendly and nice making my hourlong visit bearable.
I returned a package, it was no where to be found after 2 weeks. I called 800 and took a case# for investigation. After the 3rd week, a lady from this office called me back told me my return package has been delivered. I am not giving 5 star is the downstairs staff answered my inquiry on Saturday was inpatient and rude.

2022-04-05Mary in Passport Services was wonderful. While we waited, we saw her be so kind and patient with all the customers. As she processed our paperwork, we heard her take a phone call from a distressed caller and she answered all her passport questions so very patiently. She deserves many Kudos.

2022-07-01Truly the best customer experience Ive ever had at a Post Office. The line was long, but every single employee worked efficiently and with amazing attitudes. Specifically, Daniel and Lelani (I think) really went above and beyond to help me, and I am SO grateful. Amazing post office!

2022-05-02Horrible customer service. Rude people even by NYC standards. God forbid if you don’t have or know everything you should have brought or known before hand. They won’t explain without yelling or telling you to get off their window. That’s what the one elderly woman around the middle window told me today. They are also short on supplies (labels, boxes, etc). You are mostly left with figuring things out yourself. Glad that one can get most things done at the machines and without having to deal with the few people left there. I unfortunately had to go talk to them today. Try the machines! Love not having a human interaction with those at the window. It’s sad to see people so miserable at their jobs.

2022-06-02I have been using this post office for decades, and it has progressively gotten worse and worse. NO ONE working there, barring Hank and one woman whose name I don’t know, is helpful or kind in any way. I just had two counter people snap at me for very calmly alerting them about the TWO completely full drop chutes that no one cleared for the 15 minutes I was there. Instead, the man barked at me that he was counting money. I didn’t see that, so I apologized and said to the woman working next to him that I couldn’t open the chute door, to which she barked, “That’s because it’s full,” before ignoring me. Then the man who was counting money finished and said, “Next,” completely ignoring me. I went back out to the mail chute to wait, because in the past when it was brought to someone’s attention that it’s full and stuck, someone will clear it. I waited 5 minutes, and then another customer came out telling me they told her, not me (even though I had been standing there waiting to mail about 30 packages for my business) to just leave her box at the far end of the counter. She told me that, so I went to do the same and saw piles of packages waiting to be processed and mailed.I’m trying to support the USPS, but if it’s going to continue to be this frustrating, I’ll move my business shipping (it’s a lot) to another carrier, like UPS or FedEx, and the usps can lose even more money. There’s a reason why no one like to use USPS!

2022-02-09I was fortunate to receive excellent service from a Ms. Lacewell when I called about a package w/wrong address. She made a miracle happen, bringing a two month nightmare to an end. Eternally grateful that she listened and somehow got it handled. I havent visited this location in person yet, but my telephone experience was positive.

Im not sure how long she has been working at the location or for USPS, but she brings SUNSHINE to cloudy day with her SPIRIT, VOICE, SMILE & PERSONALITY. I dont think shes ever had a bad day. 2022-05-02Such rude staff - one woman called Corinne recently reduced me to tears in front of my child, just because I stick on a stamp before I gaffers over the $1.30 !! Unbelievable how people like this are working with the public. Lady below stairs however was lovely.Still - Don’t go here unless you absolutely have to!

2022-05-17Love this location. I never understand the irate guests who seem to think they’re above common courtesy. The staff here are all rockstars. Great attitudes, always helpful, working as fast as they can, even when the whole world is understaffed.

2022-05-09My wife had an appointment. The relevant agent was ill today. No email. No notice. We showed up and waited outside the booth. No one said boo to us. My wife finally went to a window and was told that agent was out ill and she would have to re book. That is outrageous!! No consideration at all. Hey anyone can get sick. But dont you tell people with appointments? Iguess tgats why its the P O. Many people get POd.

2022-03-11They were extremely rude and unhelpful to an elderly customer in front of me who was confused about the process for renewing her passport. Showed absolutely no patience or empathy for reasonable questions.
