United States Postal Service in other cities:
If I could rate below one star I would at this filthy place! The supervisor is NOT coming in until “maybe 11”. They have 0 knowledge abiut what tk do. I was trying to file a claim and they said to call their 1800 line but then 1800 line said I have to do it at the post office. Went to the post office only to find out that supervisor may be showing up ag some point. The lady is quickly to correct to “maybe 10ish” when she saw my face. She was also rude beyond belief. The place should be close down since it’s extremely dirty in there ...given Covid
The staff here are great if you do not walk in with a Karen/Ken attitude. Im on a first name basis with the postal worker who delivers mail to my NYC high rise. Once she even delivered a check to me that had the wrong address (for a building up the street) on it! Yeah, she recognized my name and put it aside and delivered it to me specially! You cant beat that for good service!
Most of the staff are easy to deal with and this is the reason that this office does not get a 1 star rating.Unfortunately the management of this office is ignoring key problems. Problems with packages that do not get picked up are a recurrent issue in this office. However, the manager of this location ignores that packages are not getting picked up. For instance, the manager has outright denied pickups even when USPS customer service has requested that the Gracie USPS office should complete a pickup. If this post office ignores scheduled pickups and is not following instructions from USPS, then maybe a new manager should be appointed.
Every time Ive come in a rush, the employees have been extremely warm, helpful, and accommodating. Based on past experiences at other post offices, Ive been amazed and so appreciative of this! Three of the times Ive visited, an employee approached customers in line to expedite the process and it made things run very quickly and efficiently! Bravo and thank you! I always leave super impressed and grateful!
5/04/2020 Visit.I couldnt find small padded envelopes, then asked a staff member, she said We dont have small envelopes left, you can also ask in Window 1, so I went to that window and waited another 5 min, and she says NO, we DONt have small padded envelopes. I ended up getting the one thats 8 times bigger than my package. Then Im waiting in another line to send it. While that, the thought of this giant envelope and the fact that I have to overpay now, really bothers me. I keep looking around and noticed a stand with SMALL ENVELOPES!!! Yes, they were in pink flowers print for Mothers Day holiday, but who cares. I asked for A SMALL padded envelope. When I went back to them saying But you had SMALL envelopes.., they told me that I still have to pay for the big one because I already wrote on it...Its an honest mistake of disinformation of people that work there, I get it, but I dont have to pay for it.It is very sad they couldnt absorb the $3.89 loss, I would still pay $1.89 for a small one + shipping + left happy.
Would give zero stars if I could, have never had an experience this bad with any postal service. Its now January and Im still missing mail sent in October. They either claim to have lost or never received just about everything, or otherwise return to sender without any sort of reasoning. Have had money, gift cards, credit cards never arrive... very sketchy and completely unhelpful staff.
I do get from where the negative reviews come. But most of the annoyances can be avoided by using self-service machines. They allow you to send most of the package types (even international one). If there is a queue to them, well, it is not long. And some of the staff IS helpful and friendly. Until you see what REALLY bad postal office is (I saw a couple of them), you just dont know that what you have is not so bad.
Rude and unprofessional employees as if they got too comfortable being workers for years. There are plenty of people who would like to have their job and perform their duties in a professional manner.Very RUDE! They dont look you in the eye when they talk to you...then they get upset & pissed off ...should they have to look for a Parcel or answer a question. There are plenty of people who glady take their job that have manners.
Don’t be afraid to go up to the counter and ask for help before doing anything. One of the staff reminded me today that they’re here to help, and he braces for the negative attitudes people have once they reach the counter. :( Treat postal workers with respect, they’re all there to help you as best they can.
Their delivery people are incompetent. I had a package scheduled to be delivered today, so I stayed home waiting for them as it required a signature. Turns out, they just came to deliver mail and left me a note saying theyd attempted to deliver my package. Im sorry, I wasnt aware that I had to stand out on the street all day waiting for my mail person to walk by. They could have rang my bell. I was home. Now, I have to wait two more days for my package and who knows if theyll follow my instructions and leave it without a signature?
People who work there are super super rude! I wanted to find my missing mail, so I went to station and got phone number to contact the supervisor of my apartment. But they hanged up my phone call even if I was talking. They are never patient to clients, and sometimes they just told me my tracking number didn’t exist! How could it be! I just copy my number from their website.
They steal your packages and say that it was delivered when it never was, this has happened 2x in a span of a month. People, I encourage you to file a claim, as well as an Inquiry for Investigation against this post office for theft. A USPS Customer Service Agent encouraged me to do this if my packages continue to go missing.
Someone knocked faintly on my door this morning. When I get to the peep hole (which was about 10 seconds later), no one was there. Later, when I check the tracking number for the package Im expecting, it says Delivered, Neighbor as Requested. Uh... Neighbor AS REQUESTED??? I would have to speak to the postman in order to tell him that AND if I did see the postman, why would I tell him to give it to my neighbor when Im in front of him? Moral of the story: Delivery man lied, didnt care, and was in a rush (obviously, at 11:20am, right?), and didnt even make note of WHICH apartment in which he left it, its a guessing game for me, and hopefully whoever has it, is home now!! But I cant believe he couldnt even wait 10 seconds for me to make it to the door or even knock a second time. He needs to learn door etiquette. Not my first problem with this service, Im sure it wont be my last.
Lost my package. sent it to the wrong post office. Asked the sender and confirmed that they packaged the right address and this was an internal flub on the USPS side. I went to the post office to find out where my package is and if they have even received it. after waiting 15 minutes he came out and said that the computers were down and I should try back tomorrow. Thats what I hear from a lot of people when they lose their package. The man was very nice but it seems like this happens a lot with this service.
This was absolutely horrible experience today. This review is specifically for the African American gentleman with the glasses at the passport station. After patiently waiting with my girlfriend with ALL of her correct ,valid and accurate documents presented We asked for a passport application. Rudely he asked what type of ID did she have Instead of handing over the application. She complied giving him the identification (NYS DMV issued ID CARD learners permit) and He then looks at it and says this was not valid (doesnt expire till 2021) Luckily she had a regular issued NYS ID card which was also valid... We also presented a social security card & birth certificate in excellent condition. Still he was not satisfied giving us a hard time looking for a reason to deny us service. Prior to our arrival we had also made copies of everything in black-and-white and in color. Rudely he tells us The documents She had was not enough And we need it to make 4 copies of each document Which is completely false absurd and insane. (the requirements are clearly stated on the passport website) shes beyond qualified with the documents she presented. He told her he must get a school ID card, bring an insurance card and a job identification card which is absolute rubbish. Shes not a student shes well over the legal age (32) The insurance card was completely irrelevant and so was having a job ID. This man is VERY LAZY and did not want to his job Looking for any reason to refuse and deny service to qualified passport applicants. (He turned away the man right before us too) I know for fact that this man was LYING because I did not have to do any of the above besides present my valid ID, BIRTH CERTIFICATE & SOCIAL AND SUBMIT A COPY OF MY ID FOR MY PASSPORT . Instead of going back-and-forth and arguing with this man we decided to leave. We went the short distance to the Post Office on 125th street submitted the documents we currently had and ALL WERE APPROVED Without all of the extra paperwork he tried to make her believe she needed. This man is very incompetent and does NOT DO HIS JOB! PLEASE find somebody else to replace him who will not give customers a hard time & do their job efficiently. Our visit on 125th Post office went very smoothly and the process took less than 10 minutes !
They are generally fine, some nicer than others. They do have a bit of a look like, I dont like my job and do get annoyed if mistakenly you walk out of line and ago to their counter, but it does not look like the most exciting job ever and they have to deal with lots of people with I am sure lots of attitudes.
Never in my life have I dealt with such incompetence. They just dont know where my package is. After saying they couldnt deliver because of no access really ?? Because you delivered a package the SAME day to me you claim you cant get access.. And have delivered mail since. Unbelievably annoyed as this is my friends custom bridal gift and Im running out of time .
Gross incompetence is a big part of it but only part of it. The unwillingness to help customers or make any small extra effort is endemic and probably part of the union thug culture. BIG GOVERNMENT is also at the root of the fundamental inefficiencies and the reason this organization loses so much taxpayer money. If they just fired the bottom 5% of employees every year, then you would have some accountability among workers, as week as workers who care about their own performance and customers. Unfortunately BIG GOVERNMENT never fires anyone and gross incompetence is often rewarded as corrupt officials sweep it under the rug inviting even more bad behavior and poor performance.
If I could give zero stars I would... I do not live in NY but during my holiday trip I had to deliver 10 packages and went to four post offices... Out of all of them Gracie was the worst... As soon as I arrived I was excited to see there was only two people in line... But to my disbelief it took me about an hour to mail my package and that was with 5 people working the registers ...the first window I went to was with an extremely rude and dismissive man... As soon as I got up to the window I said hello and nothing... so then he started talking (staring right at me) and I said excuse me but he wasnt even talking to me... He was looking at me but talking to another employee... Then he said what do you want after I told him he just told me go somewhere else Im not mailing that for you (mind you it was a large envelope that I have mailed as a package in every other post office in NY including Orlando and Kentucky for regular shipping about $2.95 without any problem or confrontation) So I got back in line and waited 15 more minutes to get helped by a more competent employee I thought... Wrong again after waiting I walked up to a lady and as soon as I got to the window I said can I speak to a supervisor I want to form a complaint she just looked at me with a blank stare and said that the lady behind her was... I started to tell her how rude the first employee was and the supervisor completely dissmised my complaint... obviously she didnt care and said so what do you want I said mail this large envolpe as a package ... Then she said no we cant I said how come yesterday in Chelsea I could and in Orlando and every other post office.... She said why dont you go there then and walked away ...mind you the SUPERVISOR... So I was baffled by what was going on and finally said so there is no way to mail this large envolope thinking they would have told me other options instead of just saying no we cant and the cashier finally said you can send it certified, go fill out the form and come back ... Wow that was difficult... After getting out of line again filling out the certified slip and having to get in line again waiting another 20 minutes it was finally done... I paid twice of what I normally would and it was like asking a huge favor... All I have to say is if all of these people cannot do their jobs properly and treat their customers with a little respect they should definitely review their lives and not work at the post office... Every single employee there including the manager where rude, unprofessional and dismissive to their customers... I highy recommend to anyone to avoid at all costs going to this post office

2022-05-04When I have a package to drop off, using self-service makes the process seamless; would recommend for anyone that typically doesn’t have issues with self-checkout! My only issue is with the people. I’m sure this, like many services jobs, is a stressful job. However, I do think that if you engage a customer, the customer asks a question, and you just walk away with no answer and don’t return, that’s a bit much. Walking away after giving an answer, that makes sense, but if the employee won’t talk to the customer, who will? Here for the self-service though!

2022-07-015 stars and a round of applause to Tiffany who helped me expedite my passport. She exudes positive energy and builds great relationships with locals who come into the post office.

2021-05-14I had a wonderful experience when I went for my passport appointment. Things have changed ofcourse due to the pandemic. So for precautions measure we have to schedule an appointment through the post office website just to make things clear. There is no longer walk-ins. Make sure you bring all original and photocopies documents accordingly with the application with you. You can pay your fees and have your photos taken with them as well. Cheryl the clerk who attended me was very helpful, informative and courteous. I felt very comfortable she was such a pleasure. I really dont understand the poor rating but my experience was very pleasing we need more Cheryls in this staion.

2022-01-26Recently I visited the same Post Office station at 229 East 85th Street, Manhattan with my family for passport renewal and I had a very pleasant experience with the clerk #23. He was extremly kind and professional. He gave back my trust to the US Postal Services. Thank you.Slow and poor service. The stuff are extremely rude. They are unfriendly and not at all helpful. I have always problem with them. I wanted to give zero or minus star but it is not possible but that is what they earn.

2020-12-19The staff at three different post offices in or near the zip code 10075 could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Calling by phone, I was hoping they could intercept a package that had the correct street, but the wrong address. They tracked down the mail carrier and were able to get my package to the correct address while I was on the phone with them! Kudos to every staff member I spoke with- you made my holiday a great one!

2021-05-25Went to get a passport for my son, and was turned away due to no appointment in the system. Next appointment wasnt until a month out. There were no customers in the post office, and I had the application filled out and my documents ready. All they needed to do to was take payment and a headshot.. I understand we went through a pandemic, but the city is opening up on July 1st, and if hospitals can take walk-ins so can they.....

2021-03-10I needed QR codes scanned so they can print my labels but the first guy got frustrated with me as it was not scanning and started aggressively dismissing me citing I had faulty codes. So I went to another clerk in case the scanner that first guy had was broken, but this second guy had same issue and then yelled at me saying I am wasting his time and other customers. I was trying to help him understand how it works, but he was so aggressive and pushy I decided to leave, and contact the company that gave me the qr codes. after I reviewed with that company the situation, they then advised me that the usps workers were scanning the wrong part of the documents. but I feel like, usps should have known what to scan. so I am going to attempt to do this a third time.......but they should have known how to help troubleshoot and not have been dismissive and confrontational. it would have saved everyone time. I filed a complaint. these two old mens behavior was unnecessary and they came across as incompetent.
